 Adolescere- to grow up
 A transitional stage of physical and
mental human development occurring
between puberty and legal adulthood
characterized as beginning and
ending with the teenage stage.
According to Erik Erickson’s Stage of
Development
 An adolescent is a person between the ages of
13 to 19.
 Early- 9-13 yrs(dev. Of secondary sex.
characteristics)
 Mid - 14-15 yrs ( Separate identity from
parents, new relationship with peer groups and
the opposite sex)
 Late – 16-19 yrs (similar to adults & distinct
identity and have well formed opinion & ideas )

 Publications carrying partially or fully false
informations.
Economic Independence
 Money from parents for personal
expense is a major problem.
Emanicipation
 The individual hates control of the
parents. He seeks identity to himself.
Remedies
Social Development
 Knowledge of social relations and art of
group living
 Group activities may be organized
 Imparting of right and rational attitude
towards democracy in the school
atmosphere to develop the philosophy of life.
Emotional Development
 The teacher should pay due regard to the
personality of every child.
 The teacher should try to sublimate the
lower emotions of the child.
 A healthy emotional atmosphere should be
maintained in the school.
 The teacher should try to avoid frustration
among the adolescents.
 Imparting of proper knowledge of sex.
 The school should provide ample
opportunities to the children to express
themselves properly.
 Co curricular activities, scouting student
self- government and changed methods
of instruction can go a long way in
enabling the adolescent to adjust him
with the world.
Mental Development
 Modern methods of teaching should be used
to teach various subjects.
 Necessary guidance should also be given.
 Responsibilities should be entrusted to
adolescents to develop a feeling of
responsibilities in them.
 Ability and aptitude of the pupils are to be
considered
 Excursions may be organized.
Physical development
 Teachers should organize various types
of physical exercises, sports and games.
 By imparting a proper knowledge about
physical and health education.
 By organizing various types of
extracurricular activities.
 The school should supply right kind of
information regarding sex at this stage.
What is the role of adolecents
 Understand your parents
 Their mood
 Their struggle
 Their expectation
 Your relationship with them
 How can you help them?

Problems of adolescents

  • 2. Adolescence  Adolescere- to grow up  A transitional stage of physical and mental human development occurring between puberty and legal adulthood characterized as beginning and ending with the teenage stage.
  • 3. According to Erik Erickson’s Stage of Development  An adolescent is a person between the ages of 13 to 19.  Early- 9-13 yrs(dev. Of secondary sex. characteristics)  Mid - 14-15 yrs ( Separate identity from parents, new relationship with peer groups and the opposite sex)  Late – 16-19 yrs (similar to adults & distinct identity and have well formed opinion & ideas )

Communication Problems in India  Misleading and misguiding parents, teachers, friends, brother/sisters.  Half informed or ill-informed friends, brothers and sisters  Wrongful messages depicted through TV serials, advertisements, films.  Publications carrying partially or fully false informations.
  • 16. Economic Independence  Money from parents for personal expense is a major problem.
  • 17. Emanicipation  The individual hates control of the parents. He seeks identity to himself.
  • 19. Social Development  Knowledge of social relations and art of group living  Group activities may be organized  Imparting of right and rational attitude towards democracy in the school atmosphere to develop the philosophy of life.
  • 20. Emotional Development  The teacher should pay due regard to the personality of every child.  The teacher should try to sublimate the lower emotions of the child.  A healthy emotional atmosphere should be maintained in the school.  The teacher should try to avoid frustration among the adolescents.  Imparting of proper knowledge of sex.
  • 21.  The school should provide ample opportunities to the children to express themselves properly.  Co curricular activities, scouting student self- government and changed methods of instruction can go a long way in enabling the adolescent to adjust him with the world.
  • 22. Mental Development  Modern methods of teaching should be used to teach various subjects.  Necessary guidance should also be given.  Responsibilities should be entrusted to adolescents to develop a feeling of responsibilities in them.  Ability and aptitude of the pupils are to be considered  Excursions may be organized.
  • 23. Physical development  Teachers should organize various types of physical exercises, sports and games.  By imparting a proper knowledge about physical and health education.  By organizing various types of extracurricular activities.  The school should supply right kind of information regarding sex at this stage.
  • 24. What is the role of adolecents  Understand your parents  Their mood  Their struggle  Their expectation  Your relationship with them  How can you help them?
