Problem Solution Essay Prompts
Crafting an essay on the topic of "Problem Solution Essay Prompts" can be a challenging
endeavor that demands a nuanced understanding of the chosen prompts and a keen analytical
approach. The difficulty lies not only in identifying the problems at hand but also in proposing
viable solutions that are both practical and effective. It requires a deep dive into the intricacies of
the issues presented by the prompts, thorough research to support arguments, and a creative
mindset to formulate innovative solutions.
One of the challenges is striking the right balance between presenting the severity of the
problems and maintaining an optimistic tone when suggesting solutions. It involves navigating
the delicate line between acknowledging the complexities of the issues and instilling a sense of
hope that solutions are attainable. Additionally, the essay must be well-structured, with a clear
introduction, body paragraphs that delve into the problems and solutions, and a strong
conclusion that leaves a lasting impression.
Moreover, the process of generating problem solution ideas can be intellectually demanding. It
requires critical thinking and a capacity to synthesize information effectively. Analyzing the root
causes of the problems and evaluating the feasibility and potential impact of proposed solutions
demand both time and mental effort.
For some, the challenge may also lie in ensuring a well-researched and evidence-based essay.
Thoroughly investigating the problems, drawing on credible sources, and providing a compelling
argument for the proposed solutions can be time-consuming and demanding.
In conclusion, crafting a Problem Solution Essay on given prompts demands a blend of
analytical skills, creativity, and effective communication. It's a process that may test one's ability
to navigate complexities, offer innovative solutions, and present a well-supported and persuasive

To what extent have constitutional reforms since 1997 made the UK more
democratic?
There have been many constitutional reforms since 1997 that is progressive towards
a more democratic system, however it is not a complete democracy and there are still
parts of the constitution could be improved. In 1997 Labour government came to
power, with tony blair as prime minister, later Gordon Brown came to power between
2007 to 2010 have made a series of constitutional reforms. This was due to the fact
that many practices of british politics were out of date, and therefore sought to
modernise the constitution. Another main issue was that the central parliament,
Westminster has too much power and therefore the labour party sought to decentralize

Another benefit to the reforms is that the prime minister appoints members based
on their profession, for instance the majority of the life peers that are in the house
of lords are lawyers which indicates expertness in the skill of observing, as a result
the reformed house of lords frequently defeat government. On the other side you
could argue that the reform is still incomplete, and that Tony Blair initial aim when
he came to government, was to have a fully elected house of lords, in this case
would have been more democratic. Due to elected politicians in the house of lords
many appointed members by the Prime Minister are part of his own party which
can ais the Prime Minister in decision making which creates worse legitimacy. The
second reform of the constitution is the Human Rights Act that was Labour s first
major reform, that came in act in 1998. Before the Human Rights Act the Uk was
part European Convention of Human rights that was adopted in 1950. The human
rights(HRA) Act came into force in 2000 in the Uk. The HRA has the effect of of
codifying the protections in the European convention in the Uk law. This act created
a Uk bill of right that is more suitable to represent the population living in the Uk,
because of adopting the convention to the needs of britain; this allows British judges
to suggest their own way of Judging based on the British culture which is more
appealing to the the British
The Invention of Magnetic Resonance Scanner (MRI)
Title In 1976, science and medicine effectively crossed paths to create the full body
magnetic resonance scanner. This groundbreaking invention, completed by Dr.
Raymond Damadian, turned out to be one of the most important discoveries in the
history of medicine. Dr. Damadian s scanner applied the principles of nuclear
magnetic resonance to the human body for the first time, in order to detect
cancerous cells in the body without the use of X rays or surgery. Dr. Damadian s
first full body scanner, named Indomitable , gave rise to the practice of magnetic
resonance imaging (MRI) in all fields of medicine. Nuclear magnetic resonance
imaging, which is often simply referred to as magnetic resonance imaging due to
the negative connotations that are associated with nuclear (Kleinfield 224), uses a
technique in which atoms absorb magnetic waves and then subsequently emit
specific frequencies of waves that can be used to create images (Edelson). Dr.
Damadian formulated the controversial idea of applying NMR to the human body
at a much larger scale than ever before based on prior research that indicated that
cancerous cells emit noticeably different levels of radiation than normal cells do.
In the 1940s the physicists Edward M. Purcell and Felix Bloch discovered NMR and
earned the Nobel Prize in 1952 for their discoveries. The original application of
NMR was done a very small scale by organic chemists in order to decipher the
composition of single compounds in pure solutions
Argumentative Writing In College
Argumentative writing allows students to use many skills all at once including:
critical thinking, forming ideas, evaluating views, using logic, and researching.
Students need to learn how to write argumentatively to be successful in college and
employment. In these positions, individuals will be asked to write a confident and
strongly opinionated paper.
Persuasive used to convince the reader to agree and based on personal opinion
Argumentative presents viewpoints backed by research and evidence related to
different issues
As students work through the education system, they follow a staircase:
K 1: opinions and preferences on a topic through writing and illustrations
2 3: opinions, reasons, linking words/phrases with concluding statement
Essay on Jazz
Early Jazz
The earliest easily available jazz recordings are from the 1920 s and early 1930 s.
Trumpet player and vocalist Louis Armstrong ( quot;Pops quot;, quot;Satchmo
quot;) was by far the most important figure of this period. He played with groups
called the Hot Five and the Hot Seven; any recordings you can find of these groups
are recommended. The style of these groups, and many others of the period, is often
referred to as New Orleans jazz or Dixieland. It is characterized by collective
improvisation, in which all performers simultaneously play improvised melodic lines
within the harmonic structure of the tune. Louis, as a singer, is credited with the
invention of scat, in which the vocalist makes up nonsense syllables to sing ... Show

There were also some important small group swing recordings during the 1930 s
and 1940 s. These differed from earlier small groups in that these featured very little
collective improvisation. This music emphasized the individual soloist. Goodman,
Ellington, and Basie recorded often in these small group settings. Major
saxophonists of the era include Johnny Hodges, Paul Gonsalves, Lester Young,
Coleman Hawkins, and Ben Webster. Trumpet players include Roy Eldridge, Harry
quot;Sweets quot; Edison, Cootie Williams, and Charlie Shavers. Pianists include
Ellington, Basie, Teddy Wilson, Erroll Garner, and Oscar Peterson; guitarists include
Charlie Christian, Herb Ellis, Barney Kessell, and Django Reinhardt; vibraphonists
include Lionel Hampton; bassists include Jimmy Blanton, Walter Page, and Slam
Stewart; drummers include Jo Jones and Sam Woodyard. Billie Holiday, Dinah
Washington, and Ella Fitzgerald were important singers in this era. Most of these
musicians recorded in small groups as well as with big bands. The styles of these
musicians can best be summarized by saying they concentrated primarily on playing
melodically, on the swing feel, and on the development of an individual sound. The
blues was, as in many other styles, an important element of this music.
Bebop
The birth of bebop in the 1940 s is often considered to mark the beginning of modern
jazz. This style grew directly out of the small swing
Of Hospitality By Jacques Derrida
Jacques Derrida created controversy and theories that have influenced philosophy,
literature, linguistics, anthropology and a number of other fields. The scope of his
work is so large that some argue it unreasonable to accept his word as legitimate in0
certain fields. In Of Hospitality, Derrida describes and brings to the forefront one of
the primary issues of cosmopolitan ethics; what is the appropriate approach to
extending and receiving hospitalityand what are the implications of such action?
Through an intensive understanding of this work, Derrida eventually reaches the
conclusion that the balance between being absolutely hospitable and conditionally
hospitable is completely necessary. Is it more just and more loving to question or not
to question? (Of Hospitality, 29). Each has the ability to corrupt the other but both
are needed in order for hospitality and, in general, socially responsible behavior.
Why this is important
Hospitality cannot be practically applied without the host establishing some set of
limits, but at the exact time these limits are created, the visitor/guest is put into a
position of wanting in freedom. This is the aporia that Derrida is concerned with.
According to Niall Lucy in A Derrida Dictionary; Aporia is a Greek term denoting a
logical contradiction. The word choice here is interesting because contradiction
implies an issue that is resolvable in a certain light as well as being a foundation on
which to build. As Derrida puts

Egyptian dress, who are holding swords that say Facebook and Twitter. During the
Egyptian revolution of 2011, part of the Arab Spring, Egyptianswere able to connect
and coordinate protests through these social media websites due to their common

Although he survived his attempted assassinations, he still faced a lot of difficulty
being the president as many Egyptians were against his ruling. The Egyptian
Revolution of 2011 began in January consisting of many protests against Mubarak s
regime. Although, he promised to not run in the presidential elections in the
following September, many protesters were still unhappy. As the demonstrations
continued, they became more violent between anti Mubarak and pro Mubarak
supporters, to which on February 10, 2011 Mubarak resigned as president of Egypt

Military protecting Mubarak
Bryant Arnold s political cartoon depicts the Egyptian military as guarding
President Mubarak. Since Mubarak was president of Egypt, he was given the
responsibility of being the supreme commander of the military (Karon). Not only
was Mubarak an eventual military leader, but before he became president he served
several years in the Air Force, with the height of his military career being

Examples Of Satire In Modest Proposal
Modest Proposal by Jonathan Swift is an example of satirical writing. Satire means
using humour to attack an idea or behaviour, ridiculing people or institution to effect
change. Modest Proposal was written in 1729 in order to shock English society to be
more aware of the unjust of politics towards the Irish community. Swift talks about
the povertystricken Irish parents who cannot find close to decent jobs to support
their kids, but they have to spend their time begging at passer by for something to be
able to feed their kids, whom eventually grow up to become thieves or emigrants. His
solution to the extreme poverty is to render the children of Irelandfrom the poorer
families and offer them to the richer families as food. By offering their... Show more

He only used the baby s analogy to explain the impossible burdens that the Irish
Catholics have from the Protestants and, making their life hard. The essay describes
the aggravation at the ineptitude of Ireland s politicians, the hypocrisy of the wealthy
people the English people s tyranny and the degradation of the state of which so
many Irish people live in. poverty seems to be a known struggle for most people in
Ireland. So many parents cannot manage to get a decent job in order to support
themselves and their kids. They spend their days begging at passers by for more or
food. Now the poverty drives the youth into a life of crime and slavery. When they
are young, their parents struggle to get food on the table for them, and when they
grow up, they repay their parents by getting into trouble with the law. With that,
their standards of living don t improve even when the children grow up the cycle
starts again. The modest proposal is an ironic attempt to find a fair, cheap and
easy method for trying to help with the situation of the starting families into a more
useful member of the commonwealth . Swift comes with a solution and argues
that the best way to get Ireland out of their degradation of poverty is to sell the
children of the poor to a meat market at the late age of one, because converting
adolescents to food would not work because their flesh is considered tough and
lean. By selling these children they combine the problems of overpopulation and
unemployment by sparing families the expense of having to feed another mouth,
with the little money. But with one less mouth to feed and more money they will
be able to have enough to help them for a few days. He then argues with statistics
by stating that 120 000 infants are born every year in Ireland, 100 000 of those
infants would be sold

Genie Or Feral Children
Nature Genetics Nature is a key to a child or adult this is not something that can be
chosen or changed, but can be changed by the person over time. Nature is all up to
genetics which is what makes up you and or personality. I believe that it is 50% of
nature. The little girl named Genie was stuck on a seat her how life of 13 years.
When they found her she could barely move. But she couldn t talk because no one
taught her, and her father hated noise so she couldn t make any sounds. The only
words she knew we re sorry But through all of that she was still Genie non of this

People around the person will gradually rub off on them. believe that nurture is
50% of the child s life and (or) adulthood. The experiences that the child has like
memories are a high point in the development. Take Genie or Feral children. They
all have bad experiences, most of these children were raised by animals yes,
animals. Most of these kids have characteristics of what raised them. But Genie is
a different Feral child. Her case was neglect, and of course there traits for this one.
She wouldn t talk one because she was never taught and her father hated noise. She
was malnourished so she was thin and frail. But she slowly started to regain her
strength. But the Jim twins were also different in the last paragraph it was about
Anis and Sam. But the Jim twins were also separated and found there way to one
another. They each had wives named Linda each one of their wives were the same
names (they were married three times). Each of the families or sets of twins each
had something in common. They each had things in common like the Jim twins,
or like Ainis and Sam they each looked like each other, they had the same
characteristics like voice, hand gestures, eyes.etc. So it is safe to say that Nurture
is a big part in one s life and how they change. But Nature is responsible of the facial
and personality. Nurture is in charge of how the person may act or change IF they
find new friends, this will only happen if they are friends for
The Merchant Of Venice Character Analysis
In The Merchant of Venice, William Shakespeare examines attractive qualities in a
royal suitor through the casket test designed by Portia s late father. Each suitor s
choice represents his perception of himself, Portia, and marriage, therefore can be
anticipated by his words and actions prior to and during the test. The presence and
expression of bravado among the men functions as the most indicative characteristic
of the men s choices, as a man s portrayal of himself can tell a great deal about his
views towards women and relationships. This foreshadowing is accomplished through
their boastful diction, willingness to risk, and reactions to the caskets. As the three
caskets each represent a different viewpoint, the three men also represent three
distinct personality types, thus different expressions of confidence which the reader
is able to detect through the suitor s words and actions as they are systematically
written by the author. The prince of Morocco is the first suitor whose choiceis
included in the play. One important factor in his interactions with Portia is racial
prejudice. He immediately feels the need to acknowledge the elephant in the room
with his opening comment Mislike me not for my complexion.... Portia is polite,
but by describing him as fair as any comer I have looked on yet, it is revealed to the
audience she is not enthusiastic about the exotic man, since her earlier suitors were
disagreeable in many ways. This shortcoming may be the reason for
Descriptive Essay On The Airport Trip
Damn, the thickness in the air is definitely enough to make this long sleeve teeshirt
stick to my sweaty back. I walk down the steps from the plane, onto the Tarmac,
feeling less than official. You usually imagine what ambassadors, or celebrities
look like as they freshly arrive to a new country to experience local life. It s like
they re spritzed with Evian, and powdered upon deplaning. That clearly is not the
case with how much of a hot mess I look. When you re an Average Jo, you simply
look like you stepped off an economy flight, slightly frightened from turbulence,
with stiff legs caused by the borderline illegal parameters of legroom (or lack there
of) you were allotted Crisp air finally hits my skin as we walk through one of the
fanciest airports I ve seen. Marrakech, who knew you did it so big with the
terminal design? My happiness of the spacious airport entrance is quickly halted
when I notice how massive the immigration line is. We snail down at least four
long turns, admiring the fact there are diverse people entering a country we knew
we d stick out in. Maybe we wouldn t be so foreign. 30 minutes of switching the
weight of my legs back and forth, and attempting to connect to the failing free
airport wifi, I finally get past the immigration officer, who barely glanced at my face,
and stamped my passport. Score, another stamp to add to the book of experiences.
With no one allowed inside the terminal unless they were actually getting on a flight,

Essay On Your Financial Roadmap To A New Home
Your Financial Roadmap to a New Home
So, it s time to buy a home. Many of you likely are ready to do so for very different
reasons. For one, you might be starting a family and need more space. Two, you
might be only months from retirement and long have been ogling a move to the
beach. Three, you might want to live closer to aging family members. Four, you
might be facing a big career transfer.
Or, maybe it s simply time to become a homeowner. You re done with renting. Weary
of stuffing a landlord s wallet each month rather than building equity in your own

Make a Plan
You can t plan for a new home until you know your credit scores. Good, bad or ugly,
they re a huge barometer of your overall financial health and a good guide for what
you should do next.
Let s assume your three credit scores are okay, but not super fantastic. You can fix
them. Just realize it s not a quick fix. You ll need at least a year of on time, credit
account payments to establish a healthier credit history. Doing that requires planning.
Start with a little homework jot down all your monthly income. Track how much
goes to bill paying and how much to necessary expenses such as groceries and gas.
Next, track how you spend the rest of that monthly income on clothes, restaurants,
movie tickets and so on.
Then, what can you cut? Don t say nothing. Small actions such as brewing your
own coffee at home rather than patronizing a coffee shop every day add up big over
time. If you re eating out every other night, dial it back. Pack a lunch to take to work.
Trek through a couple months spending records and you ll soon know where you can
cut the financial fat. For now, plan to stockpile all the extras in a savings account.

Persuasive Essay On Youth Sports
America s baseball diamonds, soccer fields, hockey rinks, and basketball courts have
never been so busy with children. The number of kids involved in an organized sport
is not what is so groundbreaking. It s the way in which children are playing or how
their parents are arranging for them to play that may be cause for concern (Ferguson).
Much controversy surrounds youth sports with the biggest disagreements coming
over parental involvement and the intensity of play. Although there are many benefits
for team participation, there is a growing fear that the negatives are starting to
outweigh the positives.
Sports can be viewed as a learning environment that helps individuals learn life
lessons, foster strong work habits and develop core values all the while learning a
sport skill. Youth sports that truly benefit young athletes should be structured to
emphasize participation more than just competition. Children enjoy a sport more
when they are able to have fun (Humpries). Despite many excesses some sport
programs still manage to promote important virtues like self confidence, teamwork,
personal responsibility, coping skills, and persistence. Through sports kids can learn
to stay organized and learn how to prioritize (Ferguson). Sports enables development
of physical skills and increasing proficiency makes kids feel good about themselves.
It teaches kids that failure is something to overcome and and not to fear (Meyerhoff 8
9). Youth sports has many aspects that are truly benefiting for children, but these
benefits are slowly being clouded by the negatives that are prominent in today s youth
sports.
Youth sports in general is being reshaped because of how competitive americans
are becoming. Every aspect of kids sports has become hypercompetitive hyper
organized, and all consuming. The craziness in the culture of kids sports has led to
the realization the world has changed. An estimated 40 million young adults are
participating in a variety of organized sports For those 40 million apart of organized
sports they have to give an almost total commitment to playing and being apart of the
team (Ferguson). Sports are considered to be a shared cultural experience between
many children, and they can
The Pituitary Gland In The Brain
The pituitary gland is located at the base of the brain, just below the hypothalamus.
Being just the size of pea, the pituitary gland has huge role in the brain. It has three
sections know as the anterior, intermediate, and the posterior lobes. To begin, the
anterior lobe is primarily involved with the development of the body, maturation, and
reproduction. The hormones produced by the anterior lobe adjust growth, stimulates
adrenal and thyroid glands along with the ovaries and testes. The anterior lobe also
generates prolactin which allows new mothers to produce milk. Then there is the
intermediate lobe which releases a hormone that stimulates the cells that control
pigmentation known as the melanocytes. Lastly, there is the posterior lobe... Show

the tumor there are treatments for hormonal problems caused by the tumor or other
damage done to the pituitary gland. For growth hormone deficiency a daily
injection can be taken. For a deficiency of TSH and thyroid, hormone replacement
therapy is needed which consists of thyroxin which is observed by blood vessels of
thyroid hormone. For deficiency of ACTH and cortisol, cortisol or a similar steroid
must be taken under harsh supervision because it is the most life threatening out of
all the syndromes. For anti diuretic hormone deficiency causing diabetes insipidus
created by damage to the pituitary stalk or posterior pituitary gland, a replacement of
anti diuretic hormone must be taken one to two times a

Changes and Implications
Technology s Rapid Development
When we analyze the technological environment, we look at what could create a new
market or develop new products. In order to turn new advances in technology into
competitive advantages and opportunities, companies such as Apple need to be aware
of the changes happening in the market. Technology affects consumers life style,
consumption and spending patterns, as well as the economy. Also, advances in the
technological sector can sometimes create new industries or destroy existing ones.
Additionally, technological changes affect the 4P s of an organization. Due to the
previously mentioned reasons, we think the constant development in technology is a
key driving force in the Smartphone industry. There is a tide of technological
innovations hitting the world and the Smartphone industry particularly. Through our

The three main successors forged dynasties that lasted a couple of centuries until
they all were defeated or came under the sway of Rome.
Rome fought three wars with Carthage called the Punic wars, these wars were
fought between 264B.C. and 146B.C. (First 264 241B.C., Second 218 202B.C.,
Third 149 146B.C.) The first two Punic wars were essentially defensive wars for
Rome especially the second where Hannibal in command of the Carthaginian forces
crossed the Alps and attacked mainland Italy, the Romans were able to repel Hannibal
and his army, Hannibal was eventually defeated by the famous General Publius
Cornelius Scipio and pushed back to North Africa and Carthage. The second war
reduced Carthage to nothing but a city state, but Rome still feared that Carthage
could rise once again to its former military might and with the third Punic war; Rome
razed Carthage to the ground, slaughtering or enslaving its inhabitants. At the sight of
the city utterly perishing amidst the flames Scipio burst into tears, and stood long

Ethical Decision Making Ethical Decisions Essay
Having to make an ethical decision regarding unethical circumstances can be
challenging for some. Ethical decision making refers to the process of evaluating and
choosing among alternatives in a manner consistent with ethical principles. In making
ethical decisions, it is necessary to perceive and eliminate unethical options and select
the best ethical alternative. The process of making ethical decisions requires:
commitment the desire to do the right thing regardless of the cost; consciousness the
awareness to act consistently and apply moral convictions to daily behavior and
competency the ability to collect and evaluate information, develop alternatives, and
foresee potential consequences and risks (according to Blink, 2016).

man behind the mask that is a debonair, successful heir to his family s business.
From his bat cave to his black suit, Batman is recognized as being a superhero that
metes out justice with fairness and efficiency, but what would be said if Batmanand
Wayne was a superhero with a mental disorder? Post traumatic stress disorder is a
trauma stress disorder that occurs frequently in combat veterans, natural disaster
survivors, and even motor vehicle accidents (Nevid, Rathus, and Greene 149).
The Dark Knight is the second movie of a trilogy about the caped crusader himself,
Batman. The Dark Knight begins with Bruce Wayne, a rich heir to Wayne
Enterprises and now head man for the business, portraying a busy life while
secretly fighting crime in Gotham city as Batman. Bruce Wayne has a love
interest in a woman and childhood friend of Rachel that was introduced in the first
movie of the trilogy. Rachel is aware that Wayne is Batman. Bruce keeps from
being in a relationship with Rachel due to the risks to her life if someone were to
find out that he is Batman. Also, it was to save her from heartache knowing that
each night he goes out could be the last he lives. The main antagonist of the movie
is the villain Joker. Not much of a storyline about his past is present in the movie
and he is mostly an enigma. The main things we learn about the Joker s past are
from a scene with Wayne in his bat cave
Module 11 Essay
The film is based on a true story of a 70 year old angler, who killed four women
between August and September 2007 in Bosung.
Hyun ah is a young actress who travels to the countryside with a director who has
promised her a role in his next film. Eventually, they stop in a village to eat.
Unfortunately, the seemingly peaceful and polite owner, Pan gon is paranoid
murderer who, almost immediately, kills the director and chains the girl in a cage
in his basement. Her sister, Hyun jung, who is worried when she does not
communicate with her foe some, goes to the village and starts searching for her. The
local police officers show no will to help her. She, however, starts suspecting Pan gon
after a while.
Kim Sung hong does not delay at all in portraying what the movie is all about, since,
by the end of the first quarter, Pan gon has revealed his true nature. From that point
on, the script revolves around Hyun ah s tortures in his hands, and Hyung jung s
desperate efforts to find her. Nevertheless, Kim also focuses on the characters of his
protagonists, in a tactic that results in the film having a nice flow. The fact that this ...

Notions of sadism are also present, and add to the film s general aesthetics, resulting
in a spectacle quite difficult to watch.
The exploitation aesthetics are even more heightened by the cinematography, which
focuses much on Hyun ahs nudity and torture.
In the protagonist roles, Moon Sung geun as Pan gon, Choo Ja huyn as Hyun jung
and Jeon Se hyun as Hyun ah play the archetypical parts of villain, savior and victim
respectively. The former is the one who stands apart, being utterly convincing as the
sick torturer and murderer.
Missing is obviously a film addressed to fans of exploitation, but stands apart, chiefly

The Pros And Cons Of Genetic Editing And Human Cloning
The humanity of the human future is in our hands. Humans as a species have
innovated the world. Leading to modern medicine, which continues daily becoming
ever more powerful against disease and death, due to the bewildering achievements
in the fields of biomedical science and technology. The groundbreaking achievements
in these field have made things possible, which people thousands of years ago, could
only dream of. The present and future advances in genetic and reproductive
technologies, in neuroscience and psychopharmacology, and in the development of
artificial organs and computer chip implants for human brains, we now recognize
new uses for biomedical power that goes beyond the traditional medical goals of
healing disease and relieving suffering. Medicine has grown a new branch for genetic
editing and human cloning, which should be banned and tightly regulated due to the
threat it poses to humanity.

Synthetic Phonics Instruction Essay
Introduction Since the mid 1600 s, the efficacy of phonics instruction has been a
controversial and contentious topic in the field of education. Originating from the
creation of synthetic phonics (sound by sound approach) by Blaise Pascal in 1655,
educators began indoctrinating their pupils in the recognition of sound symbol
correspondences required to decode unfamiliar words (Rodgers, 2001). From that
time, the pendulum has swung from phonics first to phonics last. The debate has
continued from synthetic phonics to analytic phonics (utilizing a whole word
approach) as to what clinicians consider best practice for reading instruction.
Consequently, over the past 300 years, its teaching methods have fallen out of favor
with educators, only to return to the forefront as reading achievement has floundered.
The issue that confronts educators today is not the choice to incorporate phonics
instruction into their curriculum, but how.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Camilli, Vargas, Yurecko (2003) found that students in grades K 2 show greater early
reading success with the inclusion of rigorous, structured phonics lessons. Reading
proficiency in the early elementary grades continues to be critically important as it is
linked to achievement well into high school. Cunningham and Stanovich s landmark
study (1997), concluded that early literacy success is a future predictor of academic
achievement, which still holds true today. Sparks, Patton, Murdoch (2013) echoed
those findings as they detailed a productive correlation between strong early literacy
skills and academic growth through the tenth

Throughout literature characters have faced oppression in many forms including
racism and sexism. Twentieth century authors have successfully captured both
hardships endured and the triumphs realized. Nelson Mandela once said No one is
born hating another person because of the color of his skin, or his background, or
his religion. People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be
taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite.
Mandela professes that humans are not born to hate someone of a different color or
to treat them differently. They are taught that people can survive, even flourish in the
face of such adversity. The Younger family in the play A Raisin in the Sun by Lorraine

Essay on Goblin Market
Victorian Themes in Imagination: Goblin Market in Relation to Romanticism
There were two principle views concerning imagination, the Victorians and the
Romantics, who didn t accept each other s ideas about imagination. But, despite their
clashes on the status and views of imagination, the Romantics and Victorians share
similar ideas through different angles of perspective, which we could assume are
linked in part to their era. The long poem, named Goblin Market, written by Christina
Rossetti shows the contrast between the ideas of Romanticism and the Victorian
image of imagination while utilizing the same motifs. Goblin Market centralizes its
theme on the Victorian approach towards Imagination as being a destructive, alien
force that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Coleridge s definition of imagination consists of the imagination as the prime agent
for all human perception. However, Goblin Market is a story that completely rejects
the Romantics ideals of the imagination since it is a Victorian text. Thus, the
imagination is shown as something associated with being evil and dangerous, which
compliments the Victorian ideals while criticizing the Romantics admiration of the
imagination. The initial setting of the tale dwells upon the nature taking evil and
satanic forms due to the destructive tone of the imagination that contradicts the
Romantic s policy of nature being pure and divine in any form it takes. Basically, the
initial setting of the tale takes shape with the aid of local folklore about the
mysterious mythical creatures that appear with luscious baskets of fruits. The author
builds upon this folklore by distancing the characters, such as Laura and Lizzie, from
this weird folk culture by introducing the harm inflicted by these goblins on innocent,
gullible young girls. Therefore, the author has already contradicted a central tendency
of Romanticism, which is to root their stories in relation to inquisitive adventures
regarding folk culture and myths. Furthermore, the term used for these imaginative
figures is goblins, which is considered by the Oxford dictionary as a mischievous,
ugly, dwarf like creature of folklore (Oxford University). Once more, Mrs. Rossetti

Use Of Language And Context Voltaire s Candide Essay
The narrative techniques, features of language and context Voltaire used when
writing Candide tells us a lot about this book and what Voltaire was trying to
achieve in writing it. Candide is told by a third person narrator who is not a main
character in the book and is completely outside of the storyline. The title page of
Candideimplies that the book was found and translated by Doctor Ralph who is our
narrator. This is a fiction created by Voltaireto distance himself from the book and to
help the reader to understand the satirical nature of Candide.
Telling the story from a third person perspective allows the narrator to know all the
thing the characters in the book do not. He is omniscience, knowing everything
about the circumstances and the characters without being involved with them. This
approach works particularly well in Candide. It allows the reader to stand back and
see how disturbing the word Voltaire has created is. It also gives the reader space to
understand Voltaire s purpose in writing Candide without getting too caught up in the
plight of its characters. It also really highlights how naГЇve and almost narrow
minded Candide is as a character, especially where his philosophical beliefs are
concerned. The use of the third person narrator really highlights the more unrealistic
moments in the passage, for example:
Candide, having served with the Bulgars, performed the Bulgar drill before the
general of this little force with such grace, such celerity,

Introduces her four major concerns illustrated in Silas Marner namely village life.
Within the very first paragraph on the book, Gorge Elliot introduces her four major
concerns illustrated in Silas Marner namely village life (of the late 18th century),
superstition and belief, alienation and historical change (in this case specifically that
caused by industrial revolution and the ending of the Napoleonic Wars). These
concerns are closely woven together in the story (and in some cases real life) as can
once again be seen in this opening two paragraphs and often can be looked at in
relation to one another.
Village life was probably Gorge Elliot s primary focus when writing the novel and her

Another thing these country folk are distrustful of are things outside their realm of
knowledge, which is fairly small. Anything which they do not comprehend or have
not experienced, such as the weavers and their trade, is at once dangerous and
suspicious. Associated with this is the concept of continuity that is something very
important to the village folk. It is thus that something which is new or which roots
are unknown is regarded with suspicion. As the paragraph says how was a man to be
explained unless you at least knew somebody who knew his father or mother?
This brings is to the theme of superstition. As mentioned above the country folk are
very much suspicious of things they do not understand. Since they are unable to
rationally and logically comprehend the nature of such things, they start formulating
superstitions regarding these things. This is why the shepherd, though he had good
reason to believe that the bag held nothing but flaxen thread, or else the long rolls of
strong linen spun from that thread, was not quite sure this trade of waving...could be
carried on entirely without the help of the Evil One. Natural human inclination is to
create irrational beliefs, usually linked to the supernatural, about things that are
mysterious and unknown. Further examples of this can be seen further on in the
novel, when, for example, myth is
Development For An Adolescent Heading Into Young
Adulthood
Socioemotional development for an adolescent heading into young adulthood can
be a very complex and difficult stage to grasp and to fully understand especially if
they are gay, lesbian, bisexual, or transgender (LGBT). Having emotions of
affection towards someone of the same sex can be quite confusing when you are
coming into adulthood. Many questions and many more emotions arise when
trying to deal with the situation. Now, throw in some religion and what do you
get? Chaos, fear and even more confusion. One man and one women is how it
always supposed to be, right? Am I going against what the Bible says or even how
I was raised? What do I do? What would my friends and family think? WHAT
ABOUT MY PARENTS? Should I come out or keep this a secret? As an
adolescence raised in a society that is well known for its traditional values of only
one man and one woman, they begin to question and challenge the very existence of
those values as they come into early adulthood. In today s society, LGBT
adolescences coming into young adulthood are becoming more exposed to
discriminations against LGBT such as those of North Carolina s new anti LGBT law
or the even more extensive bill that was recently passed in Mississippi that would
protect and encourage business owners in the state to discriminate against people of
the LGBT community. How would this effect a young LGBT adult coming into the
workforce? For my Signature Assignment, I will be focusing on the socioemotional

Abstract
This research paper will detail the modified accrual revenue recognition in State and
Local Government (SLG) accounting. There will also be discussions on the guidance
of governmental fund expenditure recognition, and how it is used in state and local
governments. Certainly, there are differences between the fund and the government
wide financial statements, but there are some similarities. Within the paper, it will
include the purpose as well as the content of the financial statements. While
explaining the government wide financial statements, the preparation using derived
information in the conversion worksheets, will be presented. Lastly, in this research
paper, I will explain the elements of a Comprehensive Annual Financial Report
(CAFR). Introduction In this paper, I will describe the State and Local Government
accounting, using the modified accrual revenue recognition. Using the modified
accrual revenue recognition, will follow in description of what it actually measures.
Followed by the use of the modified accrual revenue recognition, I will discuss the
guidance of the governmental fund expenditure recognition, its definition and
recognition. With discussion of expenditures accounting for governmental funds, I
will present the importance of recognition. Moreover, there are the reporting
guidelines of expenditures in governmental funds. After discussing the guidance,
follows the two distinct financial statements: fund financial statements

what extent do you agree with the argument that the UK is lightly regulated in this
regard? Introduction This paper seeks to analyse the characteristics of employee
representation in the UK and concerns about is the UK lightly regulated in regard of
the employee representation. Employee representation can be known as the right of
workers to seek a union or an individual to represent them to negotiate with their

hours, working conditions, health and safety and also their benefits. It is vital to

As we know that, there are still some workplaces are lack of employee
representations, for example, smaller firms. According to the British Trades Union
Congress, there were types of vulnerable workers, such as agency workers, atypical
workers, young workers, industrial home workers, etc. Vulnerable workers can be
defined as someone working in an environment where the risk of being denied
employment rights is high and who does not have the capacity or means to protect
themselves from that abuse. Both factors need to be present. A worker may be
susceptible to vulnerability, but that is only significant if an employer exploits that
vulnerability (DTI, 2006: 25). They are lack of employment protection (Pollert and
Charlwood, 2009) and no union representations. They have no opportunity to express
their opinion and no right to negotiate with their employers about their working
conditions and terms. The UK government should set up unions for these vulnerable
workers, in order to help them to receive better treat from their employers. Moreover,
there is a significant decline in trade union recognition and representation and the
nature of negotiation shifts to consultation (Terry, 2010). As it mentioned above,
there is no absolute right to representation in the UK at the moment. The most
common way to negotiate with firms is through the trade union. However, trade union

Bethany went out to surf at Tunnels Beach in Ha ena with her best friend, Alana
Blanchard, and Blanchard s father and brother. While lying on her board, she
suddenly felt intense pressure on her left arm and was pulled back and forth for a
few seconds. Originally feeling no pain, she noticed the water around her had
turned red, and her friends realized that her left arm had been bitten off nearly to
the shoulder. The process of healing after that was challenging and hard for her, but
she overcame it with her faith in God and hard work. Bethany had to overcome
many obstacles, such as re learning simple things. After using two arms to help her
with basic tasks, like getting dressed, it was hard for her to actually do them with
only one arm. Most things she had to relearn were simple like chopping foods and
getting dressed. Others weren t as simple, like relearning how to surf. Trying to

The Ordination Of Women And The Church
When I was in a seminary in South Korea in 2008, more than one third of students
were women. As almost all of the female students belonged to a denomination which
did not allow women to be ordained, they eagerly looked forward to the change in the
denomination s regulation. The denomination finally enacted a provision of women
ordination through a general assembly s vote at the end of 2011, my women
colleagues could go through an ordination process. However, there are still lots of
women concerned about their gloomy future because their respective denominations
have not approved women s full participation in the church ministry.
In fact, the discussion on the ordination of women in the church is a worldwide issue
because there are many Protestant denominations as well as the Catholic Church
which have excluded women from ordination. The opponents of the leadership
demonstrated by women in the church have pointed out three representative texts in
the Bible as their rationales: 1 Corinthians 11:2 16, 14 34 35, and 1 Timothy 2:8 15.
In this regard, some advocates of women ordination accuse the objectors of sexual
discrimination. However, the dissenters real problem is not just their way to
understand gender but their biased way to interpret and apply the Bible to our context.
Thus, as a defender of women ordination, I will articulate what the scripture truly
speaks to us about this issue, counteract the opponents criticism based on reasoned
analysis of the Bible, and

The first tool to compensate demand fluctuation is building inventory as given in the

holding inventory which is given as $8 per unit per month. In addition, keeping
products for long time intervals in inventory could lead them to hold outdated
products which can be though both quantitative and qualitative trade off. Considering
that these aspects should have been included in the inventory holding cost; no
additional modification related to these trade offs are considered.
The second mentioned tool is using overtime which is considered as making some

Suddenly, the door of the carriage flung open, as it pulled up to the doors of the

they entered the palace.

evening she was marrying the Marquess of Hamilton, son of the Duke of Hamilton.
The previous day, her mother had sent an urgent message to Theresia to come to the

Karolina and Theresia traveled overnight by carriage and by train all the way to

Auntie Zana Born Into Brothels Summary
Born into Brothels is a great documentary focusing on the Red Light District in
Calcutta. This is a place where women turn to prostitution to make a living and the
daughters have no choice but to do the same. The males are mostly interested in
drugs and other illegal ways of making money. The children here have no opportunity
to get an education. Auntie Zana, as named in the movie, seems to be an American
woman who is trying to help the children have a better future. She is teaching them
photography and displaying their works to raise money for their cause.
Eventually, Aunite Zana is able to get the children into boarding schools. Although,
in the end, only one of the children remained in school. This film taught me that I am
lucky to be born into the United States. I can t imagine growing up in a place like
that. It also taught me how important education is for the future. Without education,
these children were doomed. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I currently am employed at a school for special needs children. I can understand the
importance of education for every child to develop to their full potential. I would
like to continue this type of work as a career path for my future. Being a human
right educator to me, is someone who shows others that every human deserves the
same rights by being active in the situation. Moving forward, one area I am very
passionate about and would like to make a change in is prostitution here in America.
Although it may not be obvious, this is still a prevalent problem today. At least
75% of prostitutes were sexually and physically abused children. (courses.psu.edu).
There is no reason for a woman who has already had a hard childhood, to make
even more heartache in her life. I am passionate about this topic because I know in
some way, I could be the helping hand that these women are in need

Problem Solution Essay Prompts. How to Write a Problem Solution Essay: Guide with Examples

  • 1. Problem Solution Essay Prompts Crafting an essay on the topic of "Problem Solution Essay Prompts" can be a challenging endeavor that demands a nuanced understanding of the chosen prompts and a keen analytical approach. The difficulty lies not only in identifying the problems at hand but also in proposing viable solutions that are both practical and effective. It requires a deep dive into the intricacies of the issues presented by the prompts, thorough research to support arguments, and a creative mindset to formulate innovative solutions. One of the challenges is striking the right balance between presenting the severity of the problems and maintaining an optimistic tone when suggesting solutions. There have been many constitutional reforms since 1997 that is progressive towards a more democratic system, however it is not a complete democracy and there are still parts of the constitution could be improved. In 1997 Labour government came to power, with tony blair as prime minister, later Gordon Brown came to power between 2007 to 2010 have made a series of constitutional reforms. This was due to the fact that many practices of british politics were out of date, and therefore sought to modernise the constitution. Another benefit to the reforms is that the prime minister appoints members based on their profession, for instance the majority of the life peers that are in the house of lords are lawyers which indicates expertness in the skill of observing, as a result the reformed house of lords frequently defeat government. On the other side you could argue that the reform is still incomplete, and that Tony Blair initial aim when he came to government, was to have a fully elected house of lords, in this case would have been more democratic. Due to elected politicians in the house of lords many appointed members by the Prime Minister are part of his own party which can ais the Prime Minister in decision making which creates worse legitimacy. The second reform of the constitution is the Human Rights Act that was Labour s first major reform, that came in act in 1998. Before the Human Rights Act the Uk was part European Convention of Human rights that was adopted in 1950. The human rights(HRA) Act came into force in 2000 in the Uk. The HRA has the effect of of codifying the protections in the European convention in the Uk law. • 3. The Invention of Magnetic Resonance Scanner (MRI) Title In 1976, science and medicine effectively crossed paths to create the full body magnetic resonance scanner. This groundbreaking invention, completed by Dr. Raymond Damadian, turned out to be one of the most important discoveries in the history of medicine. Dr. Damadian s scanner applied the principles of nuclear magnetic resonance to the human body for the first time, in order to detect cancerous cells in the body without the use of X rays or surgery. Dr. Damadian s first full body scanner, named Indomitable , gave rise to the practice of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in all fields of medicine. Nuclear magnetic resonance imaging, which is often simply referred to as magnetic resonance imaging due to the negative connotations that are associated with nuclear (Kleinfield 224), uses a technique in which atoms absorb magnetic waves and then subsequently emit specific frequencies of waves that can be used to create images (Edelson). Dr. Damadian formulated the controversial idea of applying NMR to the human body at a much larger scale than ever before based on prior research that indicated that cancerous cells emit noticeably different levels of radiation than normal cells do. In the 1940s the physicists Edward M. Purcell and Felix Bloch discovered NMR and earned the Nobel Prize in 1952 for their discoveries. The original application of NMR was done a very small scale by organic chemists in order to decipher the composition of single compounds in pure solutions

Trumpet player and vocalist Louis Armstrong ( quot;Pops quot;, quot;Satchmo quot;) was by far the most important figure of this period. He played with groups called the Hot Five and the Hot Seven; any recordings you can find of these groups are recommended. The style of these groups, and many others of the period, is often referred to as New Orleans jazz or Dixieland. It is characterized by collective improvisation, in which all performers simultaneously play improvised melodic lines within the harmonic structure of the tune. There were also some important small group swing recordings during the 1930 s and 1940 s. These differed from earlier small groups in that these featured very little collective improvisation. This music emphasized the individual soloist. Goodman, Ellington, and Basie recorded often in these small group settings. Major saxophonists of the era include Johnny Hodges, Paul Gonsalves, Lester Young, Coleman Hawkins, and Ben Webster. Trumpet players include Roy Eldridge, Harry quot;Sweets quot; Edison, Cootie Williams, and Charlie Shavers. Pianists include Ellington, Basie, Teddy Wilson, Erroll Garner, and Oscar Peterson; guitarists include Charlie Christian, Herb Ellis, Barney Kessell, and Django Reinhardt; vibraphonists include Lionel Hampton; bassists include Jimmy Blanton, Walter Page, and Slam Stewart; drummers include Jo Jones and Sam Woodyard. Billie Holiday, Dinah Washington, and Ella Fitzgerald were important singers in this era. Most of these musicians recorded in small groups as well as with big bands. The styles of these musicians can best be summarized by saying they concentrated primarily on playing melodically, on the swing feel, and on the development of an individual sound. The blues was, as in many other styles, an important element of this music. Bebop The birth of bebop in the 1940 s is often considered to mark the beginning of modern jazz. This style grew directly out of the small swing
  • 6. Of Hospitality By Jacques Derrida Jacques Derrida created controversy and theories that have influenced philosophy, literature, linguistics, anthropology and a number of other fields. The scope of his work is so large that some argue it unreasonable to accept his word as legitimate in0 certain fields. In Of Hospitality, Derrida describes and brings to the forefront one of the primary issues of cosmopolitan ethics; what is the appropriate approach to extending and receiving hospitalityand what are the implications of such action? Through an intensive understanding of this work, Derrida eventually reaches the conclusion that the balance between being absolutely hospitable and conditionally hospitable is completely necessary. Is it more just and more loving to question or not to question? (Of Hospitality, 29). Each has the ability to corrupt the other but both are needed in order for hospitality and, in general, socially responsible behavior. Why this is important Hospitality cannot be practically applied without the host establishing some set of limits, but at the exact time these limits are created, the visitor/guest is put into a position of wanting in freedom. This is the aporia that Derrida is concerned with. According to Niall Lucy in A Derrida Dictionary; Aporia is a Greek term denoting a logical contradiction. The word choice here is interesting because contradiction implies an issue that is resolvable in a certain light as well as being a foundation on which to build. As Derrida puts

  • 8. Examples Of Satire In Modest Proposal Modest Proposal by Jonathan Swift is an example of satirical writing. Satire means using humour to attack an idea or behaviour, ridiculing people or institution to effect change. Modest Proposal was written in 1729 in order to shock English society to be more aware of the unjust of politics towards the Irish community. Swift talks about the povertystricken Irish parents who cannot find close to decent jobs to support their kids, but they have to spend their time begging at passer by for something to be able to feed their kids, whom eventually grow up to become thieves or emigrants. His solution to the extreme poverty is to render the children of Irelandfrom the poorer families and offer them to the richer families as food. By offering their... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He only used the baby s analogy to explain the impossible burdens that the Irish Catholics have from the Protestants and, making their life hard. The essay describes the aggravation at the ineptitude of Ireland s politicians, the hypocrisy of the wealthy people the English people s tyranny and the degradation of the state of which so many Irish people live in. poverty seems to be a known struggle for most people in Ireland. So many parents cannot manage to get a decent job in order to support themselves and their kids. They spend their days begging at passers by for more or food. Now the poverty drives the youth into a life of crime and slavery. When they are young, their parents struggle to get food on the table for them, and when they grow up, they repay their parents by getting into trouble with the law. With that, their standards of living don t improve even when the children grow up the cycle starts again. The modest proposal is an ironic attempt to find a fair, cheap and easy method for trying to help with the situation of the starting families into a more useful member of the commonwealth . Swift comes with a solution and argues that the best way to get Ireland out of their degradation of poverty is to sell the children of the poor to a meat market at the late age of one, because converting adolescents to food would not work because their flesh is considered tough and lean. By selling these children they combine the problems of overpopulation and unemployment by sparing families the expense of having to feed another mouth, with the little money. But with one less mouth to feed and more money they will be able to have enough to help them for a few days. He then argues with statistics by stating that 120 000 infants are born every year in Ireland, 100 000 of those infants would be sold

The Merchant Of Venice Character Analysis In The Merchant of Venice, William Shakespeare examines attractive qualities in a royal suitor through the casket test designed by Portia s late father. Each suitor s choice represents his perception of himself, Portia, and marriage, therefore can be anticipated by his words and actions prior to and during the test. The presence and expression of bravado among the men functions as the most indicative characteristic of the men s choices, as a man s portrayal of himself can tell a great deal about his views towards women and relationships. This foreshadowing is accomplished through their boastful diction, willingness to risk, and reactions to the caskets. As the three caskets each represent a different viewpoint, the three men also represent three distinct personality types, thus different expressions of confidence which the reader is able to detect through the suitor s words and actions as they are systematically written by the author. The prince of Morocco is the first suitor whose choiceis included in the play. One important factor in his interactions with Portia is racial prejudice. He immediately feels the need to acknowledge the elephant in the room with his opening comment Mislike me not for my complexion.... The number of kids involved in an organized sport is not what is so groundbreaking. It s the way in which children are playing or how their parents are arranging for them to play that may be cause for concern (Ferguson). Much controversy surrounds youth sports with the biggest disagreements coming over parental involvement and the intensity of play. Although there are many benefits for team participation, there is a growing fear that the negatives are starting to outweigh the positives. Sports can be viewed as a learning environment that helps individuals learn life lessons, foster strong work habits and develop core values all the while learning a sport skill. Youth sports that truly benefit young athletes should be structured to emphasize participation more than just competition. Children enjoy a sport more when they are able to have fun (Humpries). Despite many excesses some sport programs still manage to promote important virtues like self confidence, teamwork, personal responsibility, coping skills, and persistence. Through sports kids can learn to stay organized and learn how to prioritize (Ferguson). Sports enables development of physical skills and increasing proficiency makes kids feel good about themselves. It teaches kids that failure is something to overcome and and not to fear (Meyerhoff 8 9). Youth sports has many aspects that are truly benefiting for children, but these benefits are slowly being clouded by the negatives that are prominent in today s youth sports. Youth sports in general is being reshaped because of how competitive americans are becoming. Every aspect of kids sports has become hypercompetitive hyper organized, and all consuming. The craziness in the culture of kids sports has led to the realization the world has changed. An estimated 40 million young adults are participating in a variety of organized sports For those 40 million apart of organized sports they have to give an almost total commitment to playing and being apart of the team (Ferguson). Sports are considered to be a shared cultural experience between many children, and they can

The groundbreaking achievements in these field have made things possible, which people thousands of years ago, could only dream of. The present and future advances in genetic and reproductive technologies, in neuroscience and psychopharmacology, and in the development of artificial organs and computer chip implants for human brains, we now recognize new uses for biomedical power that goes beyond the traditional medical goals of healing disease and relieving suffering. • 24. Synthetic Phonics Instruction Essay Introduction Since the mid 1600 s, the efficacy of phonics instruction has been a controversial and contentious topic in the field of education. Originating from the creation of synthetic phonics (sound by sound approach) by Blaise Pascal in 1655, educators began indoctrinating their pupils in the recognition of sound symbol correspondences required to decode unfamiliar words (Rodgers, 2001). From that time, the pendulum has swung from phonics first to phonics last. The debate has continued from synthetic phonics to analytic phonics (utilizing a whole word approach) as to what clinicians consider best practice for reading instruction. Consequently, over the past 300 years, its teaching methods have fallen out of favor with educators, only to return to the forefront as reading achievement has floundered. Coleridge s definition of imagination consists of the imagination as the prime agent for all human perception. However, Goblin Market is a story that completely rejects the Romantics ideals of the imagination since it is a Victorian text. Thus, the imagination is shown as something associated with being evil and dangerous, which compliments the Victorian ideals while criticizing the Romantics admiration of the imagination. The initial setting of the tale dwells upon the nature taking evil and satanic forms due to the destructive tone of the imagination that contradicts the Romantic s policy of nature being pure and divine in any form it takes. Basically, the initial setting of the tale takes shape with the aid of local folklore about the mysterious mythical creatures that appear with luscious baskets of fruits. The author builds upon this folklore by distancing the characters, such as Laura and Lizzie, from this weird folk culture by introducing the harm inflicted by these goblins on innocent, gullible young girls. Therefore, the author has already contradicted a central tendency of Romanticism, which is to root their stories in relation to inquisitive adventures regarding folk culture and myths. Furthermore, the term used for these imaginative figures is goblins, which is considered by the Oxford dictionary as a mischievous, ugly, dwarf like creature of folklore (Oxford University). Once more, Mrs. Rossetti

  • 28. Use Of Language And Context Voltaire s Candide Essay The narrative techniques, features of language and context Voltaire used when writing Candide tells us a lot about this book and what Voltaire was trying to achieve in writing it. Candide is told by a third person narrator who is not a main character in the book and is completely outside of the storyline. The title page of Candideimplies that the book was found and translated by Doctor Ralph who is our narrator. This is a fiction created by Voltaireto distance himself from the book and to help the reader to understand the satirical nature of Candide. Telling the story from a third person perspective allows the narrator to know all the thing the characters in the book do not. He is omniscience, knowing everything about the circumstances and the characters without being involved with them. This approach works particularly well in Candide. It allows the reader to stand back and see how disturbing the word Voltaire has created is. It also gives the reader space to understand Voltaire s purpose in writing Candide without getting too caught up in the plight of its characters. It also really highlights how naГЇve and almost narrow minded Candide is as a character, especially where his philosophical beliefs are concerned. The use of the third person narrator really highlights the more unrealistic moments in the passage, for example: Candide, having served with the Bulgars, performed the Bulgar drill before the general of this little force with such grace, such celerity,

Anything which they do not comprehend or have not experienced, such as the weavers and their trade, is at once dangerous and suspicious. As the paragraph says how was a man to be explained unless you at least knew somebody who knew his father or mother? This brings is to the theme of superstition. According to the British Trades Union Congress, there were types of vulnerable workers, such as agency workers, atypical workers, young workers, industrial home workers, etc. Vulnerable workers can be defined as someone working in an environment where the risk of being denied employment rights is high and who does not have the capacity or means to protect themselves from that abuse. Both factors need to be present. A worker may be susceptible to vulnerability, but that is only significant if an employer exploits that vulnerability (DTI, 2006: 25). They are lack of employment protection (Pollert and Charlwood, 2009) and no union representations. As almost all of the female students belonged to a denomination which did not allow women to be ordained, they eagerly looked forward to the change in the denomination s regulation. The denomination finally enacted a provision of women ordination through a general assembly s vote at the end of 2011, my women colleagues could go through an ordination process. However, there are still lots of women concerned about their gloomy future because their respective denominations have not approved women s full participation in the church ministry. In fact, the discussion on the ordination of women in the church is a worldwide issue because there are many Protestant denominations as well as the Catholic Church which have excluded women from ordination. The opponents of the leadership demonstrated by women in the church have pointed out three representative texts in the Bible as their rationales: 1 Corinthians 11:2 16, 14 34 35, and 1 Timothy 2:8 15. In this regard, some advocates of women ordination accuse the objectors of sexual discrimination. Thus, as a defender of women ordination, I will articulate what the scripture truly speaks to us about this issue, counteract the opponents criticism based on reasoned analysis of the Bible, and
