Ian Hodder
Another particular contribution of Ian Hodder to the development of archaeological
thought can be considered the development of reflexive archaeology and reflexive
methods in archaeological excavation. The details of what constitutes reflexive
excavation methodology are based on overcoming the gap between theory and
practice by incorporating extensive interpretation during excavation (Hodder 1997,
693). Hodder s viewpoint lies largely on a synthesis of critical engagement in
interpretations and theories while committing to the use of cutting edge methods in
scientific analysis. Emphasis is put on the idea that archaeological assumptions need
to be reflexive, relational or contextual, interactive and multivocal, all of which are
factors incorporated into... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Throughout his works that focus on reflexivity, Hodder proposes that in the past
decades, there has been a growing discrepancy between theory and practice in
archaeology and that new ideas and approaches are needed to bridge this gap
(Hodder, Karlsson Olsen 2008, 37). His approach to excavation is therefore a
result of trying to move the practical side of archaeology away from the relatively
positivist and objectivist stance that has been prominent in the past years, and
steering it towards the ideals proposed by the post processual movement (Hodder,
Karlsson Olsen 2008, 37). He achieves this not only by critical evaluation of
himself and his methods, as has been suggested by Salzman in his critique of
reflexivity, but also by recording the thought processes in the form of videos, diaries
and interviews on site (Salzman 2002, 808). There has been much discussion
whether such approaches have been fruitful and brought any significant addition to
archaeology as a discipline (Hassan 1997, 1021; Yoffee 2003, 862; Chadwick
Lone Wolf Terrorism Speeches
Hello Everyone,
Welcome to week 3! This week we are discussing whether we feel that the United
States is properly prepared for terror attacks. I wish with all my heart that I could
say yes. However, I can t bring myself to say it with confidence. I will say that there
are places in the United States that are more prepared than others. This could be for
several reasons. One of the most significant reasons is that some areas of the country
have already had firsthand experience with terror attacks. As horrible as it may be,
they have had the opportunity to see where their weaknesses may have been during
the response and can adjust their policies accordingly. This is common with
Emergency Management. Areas that are regularly struck ... Show more content on

This includes weapons that may involve nuclear, chemical, or biological threats.
For this, we have programs and equipment that are designed to located and stop
any malicious NBC threats before they happen. In regard to radioactive materials,
The United States conducts inspections of shipping containers that are bound for
the United States to detect if there is any radioactive materials that shouldn t be

machine is a highly sensitive device that sounds an alarm when it detects radiation.
More than 10,500 are used by federal officer and agents at American ports and
highway checkpoints (EPA, 2017). Similarly, Radiation Portal Monitors are
devices that check cargo as it passes through the portal (EPA, 2017). This is an
attempt to stop nuclear materials before they can make it into the country.
Detecting chemical agents can also be done with some accuracy. One piece of
equipment that assists with this is called the Joint Chemical Agent Detector
(JCAD) (Department of Commerce, 2018). This device is about as big as a VHS
tape and will light up and blare an alarm if it detects nerve agents such as sarin gas
or blister agents such as mustard gas (Department of Commerce, 2018). Lastly,
detecting biological agents can be difficult. Generally, lab results

Acne, A Teen Epidemic Essay
Acne, A Teen Epidemic
Sarah walked into the Doctors office. She was just turning 15, and had long black
hair, with bright green eyes. She was so pretty, except she had acne. People at school
would laugh and make fun of her, just because she had pimples.
Sarah McMahon s here for her appointment, Sarah s mother told the receptionist.
Sarah went and sat down in the waiting room. There were little children running
around, playing with toys. Sarah missed those day s. No one made fun of her for
her acne, and the biggest problem in life was who s turn it was to play in the sand box.

A few weeks?! Really? Sarah asked.
Yea, why don t we go into my office and we can look through a few of the ways to

Food Marketing Is Selling Unhealthy Food To Obese
Children
Typed essay
The food marketing is selling unhealthy foods to school boards and eventually being
served to the children, but there has to be a way to stop and that is, that the school
boards should buy more healthy foods. Food should not be seen as its cost but more
as its quality, like unhealthy food is sold more than healthy foods.
The school boards serve unhealthier than healthy foods to children. As David
Barboza said in his article, 20 percent of the nation s schools now offer brand name
fast food. This statement made me realize that now there s more fast food sold into
schools and served to the children. Usually some of the children who attend schools
who serve fast foods have no choice, because they may just serve only unhealthy than
healthy foods, since their serving only fast food. in another point of his article,
budget falls...profitable fast foods, it may not be the school s fault for buying
unhealthy foods, for the reason that they seem is affordable but it s usually unhealthy
for the children, but for the decision that the schools are making may cause bad health
to children, which can obtain obesity. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

twice that 16 percent. if the children are being fed fast food every day, their
chances of getting obesity is really high but it can be stopped if the school boards
change the school s eating habits. Fast food too much healthy foods can cause a
healthier child. in the finishing of Barboza s article he says, been sued over
marketing campaigns geared toward youth. even if the kids are being served nasty
food, the food companies won t change. This means that the school boards have to
change to make a difference, and become a healthier environment for children. The
kids may feel more secured of the food serving if the school board decides to make a

Urban Legend Of Crocodiles In The Harlem City
The legends of crocodiles in the sewers of major cities is a gripping form of urban
legend that makes it own genre, between horror and cryptozoology. The legend in this
form extends as far back as the 1930 s in the United States, and has been circulated
through the internet since the internet itself circulated the globe, and many accounts
of sightings have spread through Youtube s pseudo documentary community, and
Facebook s unique niche for fantastic tales. Humans crave wild and fictitious stories
of monsters in the city, and a creative few supply them with such tales. This legend is
stamped throughout American history and each version of it has the same theme a
vicious beast lurking beneath our cities, lying in wait to swallow it s next victim....

The reptiles were rumored to survive the plumbing, and eventually make their way
to the city sewers, living their days out beneath urban centres, eating rats and refuse,
and frightening the occasional sanitary worker or pipe engineer. Certain accounts of
this legend vary, sometimes changing the city, altering the animal, or exaggerating
how the teller reacted, such as taking the offensive and killing the beast. Salvatore
Condoluci is one of the first to report this incident. He initially claimed that he had
caught and ultimately killed a seven to eight foot long alligator they discovered
beneath an open manhole on 123rd Street near the Harlem River, (NYT 2009). The
most popular renditions of the beast in the sewer involve different animals. In the
recent Suicide Squad movie, the character Killer Croc, who is a human genetically
spliced with a crocodile, is forced to live in the sewers of a maximum security
prison camp, furthering the idea that reptiles are suited to live in sewers. In the
most recent Spider Man movie, spider man is forced to batter with Dr. Curt
Connors, a man who is also genetically spliced with a lizard, and takes refuge in
New York s sewer system, away from the human populace. The most iconic
The American Obsession With Spectatorship
Lust for Disgust There is not a minute in the day where a news broadcast is not
being televised. For twenty four hours, the same repetitive and monotonous
information is delivered by different news anchors. Even though they report nothing
new, Americans will still watch for hours upon hours. The large majority of these
television broadcasts deliver stressful and generally upsetting news, but in no way,
is this a deterrent to the viewer. The American obsession with spectatorship is a
phenomenon created by the inaccessibility of timely and relevant knowledge. This
oddly leads to an increase in the demand and likeability of terror. In her piece Great
to Watch , Maggie Nelson explores the origination with this fascination of violence
and horror and gives and analyzes creations of members of this new society.
American Infrastructure followed this turn towards the intense. Citizens gather
around a computer or television for a chance for their emotion quota to be filled. On
the surface, this may seem like an obsession with general information, but it is a
release of the natural demand for power. People are always looking for a new way to
increase their social standing, or at least pretend to. This idea is evident on a macro
level, such as the manipulation of the economy and the lower classes by the rich,
described in Joseph Stiglitzs Essay Rent Seeking and The Making of an Unequal
Society . But it can also be seen on the micro and specific level. Individual persons

Mary Shelley s Frankenstein
Mary Shelley was born in 1797 and died in 1851. She, for that reason, lived in the
romantic era of literature; her works being the direct product of her times. Her works,
including Frankenstein, reflect key elements of gothic and romantic writing. For
instance, most romantic novels are situated in lovely and glamorous settings which
reflect love and other emotions while gothic novels focus on elements of death or
bizarre happenings. These components together are focused in the novel Frankenstein
. In this essay, a deeper explanation of how Frankenstein is a characteristic of a
romantic and gothic narrative is provided. Knowing the elements of the novel aid in
the critical analysis of the book. This in turn helps readers get into the mind of...

Gothic settings generally take place in gloomy sites in which serve as a
framework for mysterious situations and therefore create more suspense. With
vivid gothic elements, the author, Mary Shelley, is able to scare the reader to
some extent. A significant gothic scene in the novel is when the monster is
created and Victor Frankenstein describes how It was on a dreary night of
November that I beheld the accomplishment of my toils...the rain pattered dismally
against the panes, and my candle was nearly burnt out (Shelly, 43). The description
by Frankenstein sets a dark and gloomy mood and creates fear in the hearts of the
readers as the monster awakens for the first time and no one knows how things
will play out. It foreshadows the darkness to come later on in the novel. The dark,
depressing and horror mood is further set by author s use of stormy, rainy and
thunder filled night settings. Another classic example of how the book is a gothic
novel is the sign of raising the dead or resurrection. The scientist, Victor Frankenstein
is concerned with bringing the dead back to life. With nervousness that practically
advanced into agony, Victor Frankenstein collected the instruments of life around
[him] that [he] might infuse a spark of being into the lifeless thing that lay at [his]
feet (Shelley, 43). The scientist intends to use the body parts of the dead to create
life and ends up creating a monster. The main character does this in order to ignite an
eerie, bizarre feeling in the reader. Since gothic characteristics of a novel are also
portrayed by death itself, the death of Victor Frankenstein s mother, and the murder
of Victor Frankenstein s family members William, Justin, Henry and Elizabeth by the
monster epitomizes gothic conventions in literature. By using gothic characteristics,
the author was able to achieve suspense and to have the reader scared to some
magnitude, wondering if
Women and Religion in the Greco-Roman Period
Essay #1 Christian women during the Greco Roman period, according to the church
fathers, were allowed few privileges. Women were thought of as being subordinate to
men and therefore the men should have all the leadership roles, rights and
responsibilities within the church, since they believed women were incapable of
handling such a task. According to the newest Revised Standard translation, it was
written women should be silent in the churches. For they are not permitted to speak,
but should be subordinate, as even the law says. If there is anything they desire to
know, let them ask their husbands at home. For it is shameful for a womanto speak in
church. Also within the New Testament there is a passage which states, Let a... Show

Kraemer presents excellent evidence stating that at times women had very
powerful roles in religion. It was the men who tried very hard to obscure this fact,
most contributions women made to religion were changed so that it appeared as
though the men were the ones making the valuable contributions and holding all
the power. Fortunately in our society today there are very well educated and
empowered people attempting to bring to light the fact that the ancient scriptures
and writings were not accurate. They are trying to educate the public about the
way history really took place and hopefully people s minds will be open enough to
use this information to change they way they view religious history and make
changed for the better. I agree with Dr. Kraemer when she says if women do not
bear children, one of the principal divisions of labor disappears, freeing women to
participate in the public life of the community. I believe this one statement to be
the root cause of most of the equal rights issues women face. For if women didn t
have to spend a great portion of their time caring for children while the men went
out and worked and moved up in their jobs and in life, women would have more
time to study religion, work longer hours, become more active in society and in

turn into a girl but also it called his name 3 times before vanishing off ,but what I
don t understand is how did that girl even know his name in the first place. Since
Aengus fell in love with the girl he decided to follow her which is also strange

Essay on my last duchess
Poets often use literary techniques to clearly convey the personalities of their
speakers. In
My Last Duchess , Robert Browning uses point of view, diction, and imagery to
achieve a powerful effect, underlining the attitude and personality of the Duke.
In a dramatic monologue, character development is based on what the speaker says,
and how he says it. In My Last Duchess , the speaker of the monologue addresses a
fictional audience, and the reader is seen as an unnoticed third party. It is because of
this viewpoint that the reader is able to analyze the words and actions of the Duke,
gaining insight into his life and personality that he is not aware of giving. While the

The Duke s trifling lack of countenance is evident in his jealousy of the duchess s
kindness toward others. Her benevolence disgusts the Duke, and causes him to stoop
down to spouting off
commands in her direction. By publicly describing the features that he disliked about
the personality of his duchess, he is shown to be a heartless, arrogant man. His
complete nonchalant manner about the issue of his wife s death is also seen through
his diction. He seems to care more about impressing his guests than telling them
about his wife, as he describes the artwork and artist with such passion. The piece a
wonder, now: Fra
Pandolf s hands worked busily a day, and there she stands. He encourages the envoy
to
Please you sit and look at her, as he had invited many other men to do so. Through the
diction used both in describing the Duke and in his own thoughts, the reader sees his
arrogant and ruthless nature.
Browning s use of distinct imagery further creates the picture of the Duke as an
egotistical, tyrannical, and ruthless man. The Duke, through his words to the envoy
and his description of his duchess, proves his own need to be in control. He initially
asks his guests to please you sit and look at her , later tells his guests that no one
may draw the curtain, and in the end commands them to please rise and go
downstairs. These commands paint the Duke as a man
Psychodynamic Approach Analysis
Jones and Butman (2012) in chapter four point out that contemporary psychodynamic
approaches, although they originate from Freud s view of personality development,
psychodynamic view are less biological and mechanistic. Psychodynamic approaches
focuses more on individuals cognitive and interpersonal process. Jones and Butman
argue that psychodynamic approaches are divided into three views: ego Psychology,
object relations and self psychology. These theories propose that caregivers or parents
should foster both independence, and protection and nurturance so as to deter
personality disturbances. The ego psychology model argues that personality
development occurs across the life span. The theory suggests that the ego strives for
adaptability,

on the walls. But became really popular during the Renaissances when painters and
sculptors took light. The Renaissances was a great time for art in Italy when land

Ancient Greek and Roman art. The origin of the Renaissancewas traced back to the

depends on the car. On most cars that have electric steering, LKA is tied in with the

method is that LKA will tie in with the electronic stability control (ESC) system and

Coalition two major battles of the Napoleonic wars were seen: Austerlitz and
Trafalgar both were decisive in their tides of the war efforts. In the end, Austria
would be forced into a surrender, and the Confederation of the Rhine would occur.
This would leave the United Kingdom as one of the few states at war with France
for the safety of Europe. By 1808, Napoleon was marching on many of the old states
(again): Austria, Prussia, and Spain. With the French invasion of Spain and Portugal,
the British were forced to send troops to the Iberian Peninsula. Following a series of
defeats and almost the complete loss of Lisbon, the United Kingdom placed Arthur
Wellesley (who would later become known as the Duke of Wellington) in command
of the Iberian Forces for the defense of Portugal, thereby, beginning the great
campaign in Spain, known only as, the Peninsula Campaign. The reason for the
historical significance of the Peninsula Campaign of 1808 to 1814 is thusly this: with

Saving Private Ryan Ethics
Saving Private Ryan is a film based during World War II. The main characters of
the movie are elite soldiers out of the 2nd ranger battalion. The soldiers of the 2nd
ranger Battalion were part of the initial invasion and were vital in the taking of
Normandy beach. This was just the beginning for this group of soldiers destined
for a mission save Private James Francis Ryan. The major ethical debate started in
the United States Chief of Staff s office following the discovery that a mother
would receive three telegrams on the same day informing her that three of her four
sons had died in combat. In the office the group weighs the decision to pull out her
only surviving son from behind enemy lines and send him home safely. Private
Ryan was in the 101 airborne division and missed there drop deep behind enemy
lines and there exact whereabouts are unknown. The group is split between
risking men s lives to save one man, presuming he is alive, and a sense of
responsibility to the mother of the boys to bring her one son back safely. The
decision is made to save Private Ryan after the Chief of Staff reads a letter by
Abraham Lincoln. Dear Madam: I have been shown in the files of the War
Department a statement of the Adjutant General of Massachusetts that you are the
mother of five sons who have died gloriously on the field of battle. I feel how weak
and fruitless must be any words of mine which should attempt to beguile you from
the grief of a loss so... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When they finally find Private Ryan he and a small group of patched together
soldiers are defending one of the last working bridges from the Germans. When
Private Ryan refuses to leave his post because he doesn t want to abandon the only

him. A lot of the squad parishes in defending Private Ryan s mission including Capt.

Regional Anesthesia
Regional Anesthesia
Regional anesthesia is a type of medicine that temporarily blocks feeling in one
area of your body. You may have regional anesthesia before a medical procedure or
surgery. A health care provider who specializes in giving anesthesia
(anesthesiologist) injects the medicine near a nerve or a group of nerves. This makes
that area of the body numb.
Regional anesthesia can be used alone or in combination with other types of
anesthesia. Regional anesthesia has many benefits compared to using general
anesthesia on its own, such as:
Improved pain control after your surgery.
Less nausea, vomiting, or drowsiness after surgery. This is because less medicineis
needed to control pain.
A faster recovery.
There are three types of regional anesthesia:

If you will be going home right after the procedure, plan to have someone with you
for 24 hours.
You may need to have blood or imaging tests.
PROCEDURE
To reduce your risk of infection:
в—‹ Your health care team will wash or sanitize their hands.
в—‹ Your skin will be washed with soap.
Depending on the medical procedure you are having done, an IV tube will be
inserted into one of your veins.
The anesthesiologist will do a physical exam to find the best location to give the
regional anesthesia. A device (nerve stimulator) or imaging tool (ultrasound) may be
used to help locate the nerve. This helps prevent nerve damage.
You may be given a medicine to help you relax (sedative).
You will get regional anesthesia by injection or through a continuous infusion.
The anesthesiologist will check to make sure the medicine is working before the rest
of your medical procedure begins.
Depending on the type of regional anesthesia you received, you may have a small
bandage (dressing) placed over the injection site.
The procedure may vary among health care providers and hospitals.

A Brief Note On Clean Water And Sanitation
Every year in developing countries, millions are suffering and dying due to
hazardous sanitation conditions and unclean water. This can be prevented. Many
developing countries lack in water and sanitation, as a result millions die every year.
Health plays a big factor in sanitation and water in developing countries. There are
many inexpensive and effective alternatives to clean water and safe sanitation. Access
to water and sanitation increased from 1990 to 2002. Many challenges and obstacles
are existent. With every challenge there is a solution. The solution can only be
overcome through technology, research, collaboration, and engineering problem
solving for future.
Imagine the impact on public health if no water services for toilets, faucets, and
sinks to address for our daily needs. For billions of people all over the world, this is
unfortunately a reality. Approximately 1.1 billion (ACS) people don t have access to
improved drinking water and estimated 2.6 billion (ACS) individuals live without
any type of water services. From 2005 2015, The World Health Organization(WHO)
wanted to establish a system that will provide full access to safe drinking water and
sanitation by 2015.
Sanitation is vital to global health and is a larger problem then the lack of water.
Sanitation is the conditions relating to public health especially the provision of clean
drinking water and adequate sewage disposal. These conditions in the developing
world are due to the lack of sanitation,

9:50pm October 27, 2016 II. Introduction Bacterial pneumonia is an infection of
the lungs that can make it difficult to exchange gases. It can cause inflammation in
the alveoli that fill up with fluids, which the lungs will become less elastic and
cannot take oxygen or remove carbon dioxide in the blood efficiently. Therefore, it
can be difficult to breathe for your lungs may need to work harder to retrieve
oxygen and chest pain may occur as well. I chose bacterial pneumonia as my topic
because I have a huge interest in the respiratory system. At San Joaquin Valley
College, I was in the respiratory therapist program where I wanted to write about
bacterial pneumonia. Unfortunately, I had to leave before I can even start the paper
about this pulmonary disease. III. Medical Terminology 1.Abdominal: The anterior

Niccolo Machiavelli s The Prince
A Republic is representative government ruled by law, where democracy is a direct
government ruled by majority of the people. Republic is based on individuals and
inalienable rights. In The Prince by NiccolГІ Machiavelli the book expresses how to
become and stay a prince through numerous obstacles. From the beginning, different
forms of government are stated and described, but Machiavelli focuses on the
different types of principles a prince should maintain within a kingdom and why a
kingdom fails or thrives. He expresses in great detail the different governments.
However, the book is not based upon republics but of monarchies, old and new.

To maintain the kingdom respecting and honoring a king or prince he must be
polite but not too generous to his people. Machiavelli reminds the reader, yet
again, that it is important to be liked and not to be weak and handle decisions and
complications wisely. However, a leader should change thing from time to time to
keep things new and people enlightened. To be a good ruler, they must gain respect
of the people by keeping them pleased. When changing things however, make sure
they re good things such as lowering thing rather than taking things from your
people such as firearms. The people will begin to wonder why their things were
taken and hate the one who implied such catastrophe. Also Machiavelli believes in
Fortresses because of the fear in the people, however, it doesn t last. Therefore, a
prince should stick to trying to please their people rather than Fortress. By a king

Advantages Of Volleyball Essay
Have you ever heard of the sport volleyball? Well if you haven t then let me tell you
about it. It s where you have a team and you play a sport called volleyball, and you

play get to play against all these different schools. You can also playin tournaments to
play a bunch a team in one day. If you you have a good winning streak you and your
team could possibly go to state. State where you go to a high schoollike building and

You coach my also make you do drills like hitting line where you go up to the net
and you tip and then hit. You also have to run on and off the court to get the ball or
switch on and off with another player. Exercise is also good for volleyball because is
you don t you will be very out of shape and that s not good because you have to have
upper body strength and leg strength to jump.
Now the disadvantages, the first one is injuries. Injuries can happen really easily
in volleyball because you are jumping a lot and you slide all over the court and
sometimes that can end up in a bad injury. Sometimes when you re sliding you can
hurt your knees like popping them out of place or getting a burn. You can also hurt
people on the other team by hitting the ball to hard or just hitting it in the wrong
way. You may accidentally run into someone and injure both yourself and your
teammate now you might not mean it but it might end up in you both sit out. You
also slip and fall and injure your elbow or chest. Next disadvantage is it can be
expensive. Volleyball clubs and sometimes school volleyball can extremely
expensive and sometime people can t afford it and the really sad because they can t
play just because of price. Sometimes people have the money in the beginning and
then they might have something happen and then they can t play anymore. It can be
hard to pay for both your education and play volleyball so you re most likely going
to choose education but

Richard Branson promotes inside his company open communication between
employees, managers and himself. Anyone in the company knows they can call him
to share with him innovative ideas or suggestions.
Inside the company communications are promoted between the different areas. At
the time when the company is developing a new project they promote a team of
different departments working together to have the better outcome of the project. As
the company involves employees in product development, the result will be not only
in a better product design, but also it adds impetus of an immense pride of
association factor: We came up with this as a team. Everyone wins, including
customers and shareholders.
Position as Manager in Virgin
As a manager I prefer flat structures where employees have a sense of ownership
and freedom to be creative, express ideas and be proactive. Some characteristic of
Richard Branson s leadership style I admire is the open communication between
the employees and the directives, the possibility to work as a team with employees
from other departments to solve problems and improve products and the possibility
to allow workers to share their visions to develop innovations. For a manager to be
able to fit under this type of leadership, he or she has to be flexible and willing

Respect and Accomplishment for African Americans Essay
The time span between 1954 and 2010 tells a story for African Americans. The
timespan tells a story of perseverance and accomplishments. African American like
Malcom X, Stokey Carmichael, and even Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. had different
views on ways to gain respect for the generations that followed behind them. Even
though they had different views on how to gain respect from whites; they shared
the same desires. Their similar desires were to lead blacks to higher positions,
better life styles, and to gain respect. Lack of respect was one aspect of life that

blacks from voting. Restrictions were put on blacks such as poll taxes, grandfather

given as a wakeup call to African Americans. I think you ll have to agree that we re
going to be forced either to use the ballot or the bullet. It s one or the other in 1964.
It isn t that time is running out time has run out! (Ballot or Bullet 1964). This
speech was to let African Americans see that voting was their right, and if whites
were going to fight to keep their rights away from them than blacks would have to
fight back. The Ballot or Bullet speech showed blacks than whites were not going
to give them what was rightfully theirs. African Americans from 1964 to 2010 had
to fight for respect in politics and their hard work was finally recognized nationally
when Obama was elected as president. Then entertainment industry was definitely a
struggle for respect for African Americans. Looking back at the roles of dumb
buffoons and servants that blacks were casted for; it was apparent they were looked
as inferior in talent. African Americans such as Sugar Hill Gang, James Brown, and
Living Colour used their talents and meaningful lyrics to gain respect and
recognition. Sugar Hill Gang used their song Rappers Delight as a declaration that

Carlos Williams Influences

William Carlos Williams poetry was greatly influenced by his family s beliefs and
his experiences as a child and young adult. Williams writing reflects the chaos of his
early adulthood when he pursued two different professions at once. His parents
wanted him to be a doctor, and he practiced medicine for a period of time, but his
true calling was writing. Williams owned his own medical practice, and at the same
time, he was a published poet. This lack of direction and pressure in Williams life
is displayed in his poem Overture to a Dance of Locomotives . Additionally,
Williams own experiences with women are reflected in his admiration for women in

Williams conveys his ideas as a poet by using metaphors and similes, as well as
imagery. These components help build William s poetry and make it compelling
to read. When growing up, a lot was asked of Williams. His parents wanted him to
be a doctor, but he wanted to be a poet. The chaos in his life is translated into his
poetry and visible in the way he writes. The message Williams is trying to convey
in many of his poems is that life becomes more chaotic as a person grows up, and
someone cannot be innocent his or her entire life. Williams was also raised by a
loving, interesting and intellectual woman, and was happily married himself.
Therefore, Williams poems reflect both respect and love for women. William Carlos
Williams family and his own strong desire to be true to himself influenced his poetry
and reflect both his understanding that life can be chaotic and women are beautiful

The secret to doing anything is believing that you can do it. Anything that you

This is one of the many inspirational things I have heard Bob Ross say on his show,
The Joy Of Painting. Bob Ross is one of the most beloved American painters and is
known by thousands of people across the world. His show was all about teaching his
viewers how to paintand enjoy themselves while doing it. However, many of us

him form a masterpiece on a blank canvas. It is crazy to watch all the things he can

he learned from his mentor William Alexander. This is the process of putting oil
paints directly on top of one another to create complete paintings in less than an hour.
Bob Ross practiced this so much that he got it down to under 30 minutes for his show.
His painting style is very different than mine, but I still love to watch and learn new
things that I can experiment with in my style of painting. He accomplished many
things in life, including finishing over 30,000 paintings and touching the hearts of
millions of people while doing that. More recently, he has become very popular on

Final Research Paper
History of Influences on Guam Guam is an unincorporated and organized territory of
the United States (World Atlas). The island has been around for a very long time and
has been through two wars, Spanish American War and World War II, involving the
United States Military. Although this island is just 30 miles long and 12 miles wide,
it has been claimed and conquered by three different nations Spain, United States, and
Japan. Guam s first part of history was when Ferdinand Magellan passed through
the island on March 6, 1521. With the Spanish knowing what Guam has to offer, 44
years later Spain claimed the island in 1565 and was beginning to be colonized in
1668. According to the website of Destination 360, Guam was in perfect position
to become a resting place for Spanish traders traveling between Mexico and the
Philippines, and served this purpose until 1898 (Destination 360). In 1898, the
Treaty of Paris was signed which gave Guam over to the United States. The U.S.
had Guam for quite a while until Japan struck on December 8, 1941, a few hours
after Pearl Harbor was attacked. This attack started World War II, which I believe
the attack of Pearl Harbor was a decoy to invade and take over the island of Guam.
The Liberation of Guam was in July, when the United States Military fought three
hard years against the Japanese to claim back the island in 1944. With all that has
gone down in history, has Guam s past

picture for Rubio, who has yet to lead in any survey unlike John Kasich who is
leading in some polls in his home state while others show him in a tie with the front
runner.
Fighting in his last hope to win Florida s primary before Florida decides his political
future, Rubio campaign through the I 95, making appearance in Melbourne, West
Palm Beach and West Miami, making the case that is seen to be potentially his last
day of his presidential campaign.

I think Rubio has a shot tomorrow, but the best is yet to come, Brandon told
PolitiChicks. If not, he might make a great Governor of Florida in 2018.
His final rally, coined a homecoming rally, Rubio spoke on top of a back flatbed
pick up truck parked in a playground, addressing his closest supporters and
neighbors using a bullhorn. Speaking mostly in Spanish, Rubio told supporters a
large turnout is a must or else he isn t sure he is going to win.
Rubio address the crowd in both English and Spanish with his comment that focus
on Tuesday s primary. If this community doesn t vote in historic numbers, I don t
know if I will be able to win, Rubio said in Spanish.
On the eve of the most important election in a generation, in the state that always
makes the difference, this community is going to take us over the top and we are
going to win this election, Rubio said putting a brave face on. It s an honor to be
here, in the neighborhood where I grew up and the park where I used to slam dunk
Migration of Turkic Tribes
Migration is the movement of people from one place to another to settle and live in
the new area. Nowadays, the number of moving people exceeds 200 million
(World Migration Report 2010 The Future of Migration: Building Capacities for
Change. International Organization for Migration. 2010). In the ancient times the
number of moving people was little, but the causes were approximately the same.
Especially, migration of ancient Turks had a significant role in formulation of
world civilizations. Their migration periods cover several thousand years. The
most famous migration stage of Turks was in the II VII centuries, well known as
Migration Period. Turkic tribes migrated and spread their habitation because of
three main factors. The first and the most significant cause of Turkic migration is
related to economic issues. Many Turkic tribes migrated because of crisis and
famine in their country. The famine derived from climate changes and severe
climate in different periods. Living in difficult life circumstances, Turkic tribes
decided to move in order to find fruitful lands. Especially, during the Migration
Period, in 395, Huns (Turks) moved to Europe because of famine. Moreover, some
Turkic groups migrated to wide steppes in order to find and extend their pastures.
While the amount of people and cattle were increasing, it was difficult to
accommodate animals with pastures. For instance, Yuruks ( Walkers ), who initially
settled in Eastern Anatolia, moved to Western Anatolia to
Direct Analysis Of Construction Delays
The parameters of measurement of success of any project time, cost, safety, quality
and customer satisfaction can be severely affected by construction delays (Shujaa
Safdar Gardezi, 2013). This study investigates various factors affecting the timeline
of the schedule by various participants in the project, followed by mathematical
analysis to propose that the major reasons for delaysare the domestic issues of the
country.
2.1 Current techniques for the analysis of delays Following are three different modes
of application of delay analysis techniques based on their simulations with
fundamental schedules:
1.Direct Analysis
Direct analysis involves examining the available schedule information without doing
any simulations and modifications. Therefore, it is relatively simple, easy, less time
consuming and a lot less expensive to perform.
2.Additive Analysis
In this methodology, the delays are added to the schedule as individual activities to
simulate the actual scenario of occurrence and reflect the effects of the delays on
the as planned schedule. The additions of the delays can be performed individually
knowns as single stage analysis as well as in multiple schedules also known as multi
stage analysis (Trauner, 1990). Some of the examples of additive analysis are time
impact analysis, impacted as planned, window analysis and as planned but for.
3.Subtractive Analysis
In this analysis, modifications and simulations are carried out on the as built
schedules in a backward
My Life After Reading The 7 Habits of Highly Effective...
Over two million copies sold seeing that on the cover of The 7 Habits of Highly
Effective Teens I told myself to give it a chance. I had heard many different
opinions about the book. Most of my peers were not overly excited when the y
finished. However I decided to go into reading the book with a positive attitude
knowing if I did enjoy it writing a paper about it would be much easier and I might
even learn something. Reading The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens I saw many
ways each habitpertained to my life. Some I felt I practiced fairly well while reading
about a few others I knew I needed a little work. The habit I needthe most work on is
undoubtedly being proactive and the habit I need the least work on is sharpening the

Since reading the chapter I have handled a lot of situations differently. For instance
a few weeks ago there were some people spreading rumors about me while I wasn t
there. My friend called me later that day and was very upset. She told me what
they had been saying and how mad she was that people would say things like that.
My response was Alright that s too bad. That wasn t very cool of them, but I won t
let that ruin my week . My friend couldn t believe what I was saying. Usually I
would be the one that would just let it all boil up until I blew up on someone.
Being proactive in this situation really felt great. It was a good start. My goal is to
start being proactive in these situation and not let the little things bother me. Even
though I need some work on being proactive I feel I need the least work on
sharpening the saw. Sharpening the saw means taking care of yourself. When I
first read this I thought well taking a few minutes a day to relax. That is easy,
everyone does that. However going on the chapter explained how sharpening the
saw actually means taking care of the four main aspects of yourself, body, brain,
heart, and soul. I have always done a good job at taking care of my body. Soccer is
by far my favorite hobby. I am currently playing for Heritage, and in the spring I
play on a Saginaw Travel team. I also enjoy running in my free time. When it comes
to caring for my brain, I have to give my parents most of the
Compare And Contrast Emma And Wuthering Heights
Approximately a million books are published in the United States on an annual basis;
however, the majority of these fails to escape the overbearing shadows of obscurity.
Many authors utilize a methodical approach in which the first chapter attempts to
establish the setting, the characters, the tone, and ultimately a defined conflict. If the
author develops these in an interesting fashion, then the reader may consequently feel
inclined to read the rest of the novel. Jane Austens Emma, Emily Bronte s Wuthering
Heights and Charlotte Bronte s Jane Eyre are considered classic literary works of the
nineteenth century; it is probable that their success could be attributed to having a
masterful introductory chapter. This conjecture can be... Show more content on

Knightley, her brother in law, Mr. Knightley mentions that Miss Taylor will find her
life much easier now that she must only take care of one person rather than two
(365). Emma follows through with a sarcastic response in stating, Especially when
one of those two is such a fanciful, troublesome creature (365). Austen indubitably
succeeds in establishing tone through character interactions. Throughout the first
chapter, Emma and her father mourn Miss Taylor s absence, and this slowly
transmutes into a central conflict, as Austen states that Mr. Woodhouse has difficulty
comprehending the notion that Miss Taylor could be more content with her new life
that contrasts so greatly from the years she spent in his illustrious house. Emma
mentions the prospect of visiting Miss Taylor and Mr. Weston frequently; this
foreshadows a potential conflict in which Emma and her father attempt to quell their
woes by interfering with Mr. Weston s and Miss Taylor s life. This attempt at
foreshadowing is exacerbated through an encounter between the Woodhouses and Mr.
Knightley, her brother in law. Mr. Knightley reprimand s Emma s superstitious ability
to matchmake and dictate relationships. This gravitation toward other individuals
affairs will likely permeate the entire novel.
Emily Bronte is also able to develop the tone in a proficient manner throughout the
first chapter of Wuthering Heights. Throughout the story, Mr. Lockwood, the
protagonist, feels that his landlord, Mr.
Caesarea Maritima Analysis
The site of Caesarea Maritima contains many unique challenges for archaeological
excavations. Ceramics play an important role in discovering factual information about
a site. Nonetheless, Caesarea Maritima has a variety of specific challenges associated
with it for archaeologists. Not only does it cover a significant section of the coastal
region, but the immense harbour over time has been completely submerged in the
sea. Along with geographical challenges, there are also historical ones. The site of
Caesarea Maritima was inhabited from Hellenistic time until the Crusaders, a period
spanning over 900 years. As it was continuously inhabited, throughout the
archaeological layers are the remnants of many different cultures. With this in mind,...

Important discoveries concerning maritime trade was learned through the analysis
of amphora found in Vault 1 of area C (Blakely 1988). This article not only focused
upon a specific amphora that of Amphora Class 48/49 (Peacock and Williams 1986
p. 196 99) but also other Palestinian and imported amphorae found in the vault.
Through the analysis of Class 48/49 information such as where the pottery was
made and what goods they were transporting was learned. By studying the minerals
found in the fabric of two of the sherds it was discovered that sherd 6.2 was formed
in the Avdat region of the Negev (Blackely 1988, p. 38) while sherd 6.3, because of
the amount of heavy metals found within identified the amphora as being made in
Gaza or the Western Negev (Blackely 1988, p. 38). Coupled with the knowledge
that very few examples of Amphora Class 48/49 were found inland while many
examples were found in Caesarea, archaeologists theorized that the vessels arrived
from the sea via Gaza avoiding any overland travel. In the article it is pointed out
the dating for the vessel types is debated. Dates range from the third to the sixth,
centuries. Of the Palestinian pottery, the analysis shows they might have contained
water or wine, however, no evidence of oil was found (Blackely 1988, p. 39). One
of the more common imported Amphora from vault 1 was the Rhodian Amphora
(Blackely 1988, p. 41) and they were thought to have carried wine. Because of the
large number of imported amphorae identified, the archaeologists hypothesised that
the function of the vault was primarily that of a storage facility for international
goods. After the contents of the amphora where analysed it became apparent that
their purpose was not to transport only one product rather residue from two or more
goods was found (Blackely 1988, p. 42). Another key piece of evidence identified
was the

Forensic Scientist Traits
I believe the personal traits of a forensic scientist are ones like having attention to
detail because any part of an investigation needs to have someone who can find
every detail to be able to help solve a case because most of the time a forensic
scientist need to be able to have detail attention so when they are required to go to
court they will be able to describe the scene in detail. (Gaensslen Larsen 2013)
There are a several other traits I believe in essential to being a forensic scientist
which are being analytical, being a good communicator or having those type of
skills and being accurate on what they are doing. (Gaensslen Larsen 2013) I think
being accurate is a personal trait that is up there with having a great

Genetic Disorders ( Genetic Disease Foundation ) Essay
There are around 6,000 known genetic disorders (Genetic Disease Foundation).
The symptoms of these disorders range from memory loss to blindness, physical
abnormalities and more. A process known as gene editing was created in an
attempt to do away with genetic disorders. Gene editing was named Science
Magazine s Breakthrough of the Year 2015 due to its ease and high accessibility
(ScienceDirect). It works by using CRISPR (Clustered Regularly Interspaced Short
Palindromic Repeats) and Cas9 to make changes in the genes of cells. Francisco
Mojica discovered CRISPR in 1993 at the University of Alicante in Spain (Broad
Institute). It works by adding, changing or even removing DNAbases (Your Genome).
Alexander Bolotin discovered Cas9 in 2005 at the French National Institute for
Agricultural Research (Broad Institute). Cas9 is an enzyme that acts as a pair of
molecular scissors that can cut two strands of DNA at a specific location in the
genome so that bits of DNA can then be added or removed (YourGenome). The
CRISPR Cas9 system has been used to correct genetic mutations and for replacing
entire genes, opening up a world of possibilities for the treatment of genetic diseases
(ScienceDirect). This makes CRISPR Cas9 a new and revolutionary technology with
a wide range of potential applications, and almost everybody will be affected by gene
editing in one way or another. The scientists currently working on making human
gene editing a reality, is only one group of

  • 2. Ian Hodder Another particular contribution of Ian Hodder to the development of archaeological thought can be considered the development of reflexive archaeology and reflexive methods in archaeological excavation. The details of what constitutes reflexive excavation methodology are based on overcoming the gap between theory and practice by incorporating extensive interpretation during excavation (Hodder 1997, 693). Hodder s viewpoint lies largely on a synthesis of critical engagement in interpretations and theories while committing to the use of cutting edge methods in scientific analysis. Emphasis is put on the idea that archaeological assumptions need to be reflexive, relational or contextual, interactive and multivocal, all of which are factors incorporated into... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Throughout his works that focus on reflexivity, Hodder proposes that in the past decades, there has been a growing discrepancy between theory and practice in archaeology and that new ideas and approaches are needed to bridge this gap (Hodder, Karlsson Olsen 2008, 37). His approach to excavation is therefore a result of trying to move the practical side of archaeology away from the relatively positivist and objectivist stance that has been prominent in the past years, and steering it towards the ideals proposed by the post processual movement (Hodder, Karlsson Olsen 2008, 37). He achieves this not only by critical evaluation of himself and his methods, as has been suggested by Salzman in his critique of reflexivity, but also by recording the thought processes in the form of videos, diaries and interviews on site (Salzman 2002, 808). There has been much discussion whether such approaches have been fruitful and brought any significant addition to archaeology as a discipline (Hassan 1997, 1021; Yoffee 2003, 862; Chadwick
  • 3. Lone Wolf Terrorism Speeches Hello Everyone, Welcome to week 3! This week we are discussing whether we feel that the United States is properly prepared for terror attacks. I wish with all my heart that I could say yes. However, I can t bring myself to say it with confidence. I will say that there are places in the United States that are more prepared than others. This could be for several reasons. One of the most significant reasons is that some areas of the country have already had firsthand experience with terror attacks. As horrible as it may be, they have had the opportunity to see where their weaknesses may have been during the response and can adjust their policies accordingly. This is common with Emergency Management. Areas that are regularly struck ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This includes weapons that may involve nuclear, chemical, or biological threats. For this, we have programs and equipment that are designed to located and stop any malicious NBC threats before they happen. In regard to radioactive materials, The United States conducts inspections of shipping containers that are bound for the United States to detect if there is any radioactive materials that shouldn t be there. One device that can assist with this is the Personal Radiation Detector. This machine is a highly sensitive device that sounds an alarm when it detects radiation. More than 10,500 are used by federal officer and agents at American ports and highway checkpoints (EPA, 2017). Similarly, Radiation Portal Monitors are devices that check cargo as it passes through the portal (EPA, 2017). This is an attempt to stop nuclear materials before they can make it into the country. Detecting chemical agents can also be done with some accuracy. One piece of equipment that assists with this is called the Joint Chemical Agent Detector (JCAD) (Department of Commerce, 2018). This device is about as big as a VHS tape and will light up and blare an alarm if it detects nerve agents such as sarin gas or blister agents such as mustard gas (Department of Commerce, 2018). Lastly, detecting biological agents can be difficult. Generally, lab results

  • 6. Food Marketing Is Selling Unhealthy Food To Obese Children Typed essay The food marketing is selling unhealthy foods to school boards and eventually being served to the children, but there has to be a way to stop and that is, that the school boards should buy more healthy foods. Food should not be seen as its cost but more as its quality, like unhealthy food is sold more than healthy foods. The school boards serve unhealthier than healthy foods to children. As David Barboza said in his article, 20 percent of the nation s schools now offer brand name fast food. This statement made me realize that now there s more fast food sold into schools and served to the children. Usually some of the children who attend schools who serve fast foods have no choice, because they may just serve only unhealthy than healthy foods, since their serving only fast food. in another point of his article, budget falls...profitable fast foods, it may not be the school s fault for buying unhealthy foods, for the reason that they seem is affordable but it s usually unhealthy for the children, but for the decision that the schools are making may cause bad health to children, which can obtain obesity. ... • 7. Urban Legend Of Crocodiles In The Harlem City The legends of crocodiles in the sewers of major cities is a gripping form of urban legend that makes it own genre, between horror and cryptozoology. The legend in this form extends as far back as the 1930 s in the United States, and has been circulated through the internet since the internet itself circulated the globe, and many accounts of sightings have spread through Youtube s pseudo documentary community, and Facebook s unique niche for fantastic tales. Humans crave wild and fictitious stories of monsters in the city, and a creative few supply them with such tales. This legend is stamped throughout American history and each version of it has the same theme a vicious beast lurking beneath our cities, lying in wait to swallow it s next victim.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The reptiles were rumored to survive the plumbing, and eventually make their way to the city sewers, living their days out beneath urban centres, eating rats and refuse, and frightening the occasional sanitary worker or pipe engineer. Certain accounts of this legend vary, sometimes changing the city, altering the animal, or exaggerating how the teller reacted, such as taking the offensive and killing the beast. Salvatore Condoluci is one of the first to report this incident. He initially claimed that he had caught and ultimately killed a seven to eight foot long alligator they discovered beneath an open manhole on 123rd Street near the Harlem River, (NYT 2009). The most popular renditions of the beast in the sewer involve different animals. In the recent Suicide Squad movie, the character Killer Croc, who is a human genetically spliced with a crocodile, is forced to live in the sewers of a maximum security prison camp, furthering the idea that reptiles are suited to live in sewers. In the most recent Spider Man movie, spider man is forced to batter with Dr. Curt Connors, a man who is also genetically spliced with a lizard, and takes refuge in New York s sewer system, away from the human populace. The most iconic
  • 8. The American Obsession With Spectatorship Lust for Disgust There is not a minute in the day where a news broadcast is not being televised. For twenty four hours, the same repetitive and monotonous information is delivered by different news anchors. Even though they report nothing new, Americans will still watch for hours upon hours. The large majority of these television broadcasts deliver stressful and generally upsetting news, but in no way, is this a deterrent to the viewer. The American obsession with spectatorship is a phenomenon created by the inaccessibility of timely and relevant knowledge. This oddly leads to an increase in the demand and likeability of terror. In her piece Great to Watch , Maggie Nelson explores the origination with this fascination of violence and horror and gives and analyzes creations of members of this new society. American Infrastructure followed this turn towards the intense. Citizens gather around a computer or television for a chance for their emotion quota to be filled. On the surface, this may seem like an obsession with general information, but it is a release of the natural demand for power. People are always looking for a new way to increase their social standing, or at least pretend to. This idea is evident on a macro level, such as the manipulation of the economy and the lower classes by the rich, described in Joseph Stiglitzs Essay Rent Seeking and The Making of an Unequal Society . But it can also be seen on the micro and specific level. Individual persons are looking
  • 9. Mary Shelley s Frankenstein Mary Shelley was born in 1797 and died in 1851. She, for that reason, lived in the romantic era of literature; her works being the direct product of her times. Her works, including Frankenstein, reflect key elements of gothic and romantic writing. For instance, most romantic novels are situated in lovely and glamorous settings which reflect love and other emotions while gothic novels focus on elements of death or bizarre happenings. These components together are focused in the novel Frankenstein . In this essay, a deeper explanation of how Frankenstein is a characteristic of a romantic and gothic narrative is provided. Knowing the elements of the novel aid in the critical analysis of the book. This in turn helps readers get into the mind of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Gothic settings generally take place in gloomy sites in which serve as a framework for mysterious situations and therefore create more suspense. With vivid gothic elements, the author, Mary Shelley, is able to scare the reader to some extent. A significant gothic scene in the novel is when the monster is created and Victor Frankenstein describes how It was on a dreary night of November that I beheld the accomplishment of my toils...the rain pattered dismally against the panes, and my candle was nearly burnt out (Shelly, 43). The description by Frankenstein sets a dark and gloomy mood and creates fear in the hearts of the readers as the monster awakens for the first time and no one knows how things will play out. It foreshadows the darkness to come later on in the novel. The dark, depressing and horror mood is further set by author s use of stormy, rainy and thunder filled night settings. Another classic example of how the book is a gothic novel is the sign of raising the dead or resurrection. The scientist, Victor Frankenstein is concerned with bringing the dead back to life. With nervousness that practically advanced into agony, Victor Frankenstein collected the instruments of life around [him] that [he] might infuse a spark of being into the lifeless thing that lay at [his] feet (Shelley, 43). The scientist intends to use the body parts of the dead to create life and ends up creating a monster. The main character does this in order to ignite an eerie, bizarre feeling in the reader. Since gothic characteristics of a novel are also portrayed by death itself, the death of Victor Frankenstein s mother, and the murder of Victor Frankenstein s family members William, Justin, Henry and Elizabeth by the monster epitomizes gothic conventions in literature. By using gothic characteristics, the author was able to achieve suspense and to have the reader scared to some magnitude, wondering if
  • 10. Women and Religion in the Greco-Roman Period Essay #1 Christian women during the Greco Roman period, according to the church fathers, were allowed few privileges. Women were thought of as being subordinate to men and therefore the men should have all the leadership roles, rights and responsibilities within the church, since they believed women were incapable of handling such a task. According to the newest Revised Standard translation, it was written women should be silent in the churches. For they are not permitted to speak, but should be subordinate, as even the law says. Fortunately in our society today there are very well educated and empowered people attempting to bring to light the fact that the ancient scriptures and writings were not accurate. They are trying to educate the public about the way history really took place and hopefully people s minds will be open enough to use this information to change they way they view religious history and make changed for the better. I agree with Dr. Kraemer when she says if women do not bear children, one of the principal divisions of labor disappears, freeing women to participate in the public life of the community. I believe this one statement to be the root cause of most of the equal rights issues women face. For if women didn t have to spend a great portion of their time caring for children while the men went out and worked and moved up in their jobs and in life, women would have more time to study religion, work longer hours, become more active in society and in general

  • 12. Essay on my last duchess Poets often use literary techniques to clearly convey the personalities of their speakers. In My Last Duchess , Robert Browning uses point of view, diction, and imagery to achieve a powerful effect, underlining the attitude and personality of the Duke. In a dramatic monologue, character development is based on what the speaker says, and how he says it. In My Last Duchess , the speaker of the monologue addresses a fictional audience, and the reader is seen as an unnoticed third party. It is because of this viewpoint that the reader is able to analyze the words and actions of the Duke, gaining insight into his life and personality that he is not aware of giving. While the poet ... Her benevolence disgusts the Duke, and causes him to stoop down to spouting off commands in her direction. By publicly describing the features that he disliked about the personality of his duchess, he is shown to be a heartless, arrogant man. His complete nonchalant manner about the issue of his wife s death is also seen through his diction. He seems to care more about impressing his guests than telling them about his wife, as he describes the artwork and artist with such passion. The piece a wonder, now: Fra Pandolf s hands worked busily a day, and there she stands. He encourages the envoy to Please you sit and look at her, as he had invited many other men to do so. Through the diction used both in describing the Duke and in his own thoughts, the reader sees his arrogant and ruthless nature. Browning s use of distinct imagery further creates the picture of the Duke as an egotistical, tyrannical, and ruthless man. The Duke, through his words to the envoy and his description of his duchess, proves his own need to be in control. He initially asks his guests to please you sit and look at her , later tells his guests that no one may draw the curtain, and in the end commands them to please rise and go downstairs. These commands paint the Duke as a man

The Decisive Outcome Of The Napoleonic Wars Thesis Statement: This paper shall attempt to show the reasons for the need of this campaign and why this campaign was important to the decisive outcome of the Napoleonic Wars [1787 1815]. Historical Background: In 1803, the War of the Third Coalition began against France. In this coalition, the powers of the United Kingdom, Austria, Russia, and Sweden went to war against France to reestablish order on the old continent of Europe. In the War of the Third Coalition two major battles of the Napoleonic wars were seen: Austerlitz and Trafalgar both were decisive in their tides of the war efforts. In the end, Austria would be forced into a surrender, and the Confederation of the Rhine would occur. This would leave the United Kingdom as one of the few states at war with France for the safety of Europe. By 1808, Napoleon was marching on many of the old states (again): Austria, Prussia, and Spain. With the French invasion of Spain and Portugal, the British were forced to send troops to the Iberian Peninsula. Following a series of defeats and almost the complete loss of Lisbon, the United Kingdom placed Arthur Wellesley (who would later become known as the Duke of Wellington) in command of the Iberian Forces for the defense of Portugal, thereby, beginning the great campaign in Spain, known only as, the Peninsula Campaign. The reason for the historical significance of the Peninsula Campaign of 1808 to 1814 is thusly this: with growing number of British troops in the underbelly of

The decision that capital punishment may be appropriate sanction in the extreme cases is an expression of the community s belief that certain crimes are themselves so grievous an affront to humanity that the only adequate response may be the penalty of death. The courts state that this majority of the population (thirty five states) allow and approve of such extreme measures. Bob Ross is one of the most beloved American painters and is known by thousands of people across the world. His show was all about teaching his viewers how to paintand enjoy themselves while doing it. However, many of us tuned into the show not to paint, but to just listen to his calming voice and watch him form a masterpiece on a blank canvas. It is crazy to watch all the things he can do with a brush. He is also known for using the wet on wetpaintingtechnique which he learned from his mentor William Alexander. This is the process of putting oil paints directly on top of one another to create complete paintings in less than an hour. Bob Ross practiced this so much that he got it down to under 30 minutes for his show. His painting style is very different than mine, but I still love to watch and learn new things that I can experiment with in my style of painting. He accomplished many things in life, including finishing over 30,000 paintings and touching the hearts of millions of people while doing that. More recently, he has become very popular on social media, with over 67,000 followers on his Twitter fan page and over a million views on his YouTube painting videos. • 37. History Of Influences On Guam Joshua F. Mendiola EN 102 Professor J. Wyble Final Research Paper History of Influences on Guam Guam is an unincorporated and organized territory of the United States (World Atlas). The island has been around for a very long time and has been through two wars, Spanish American War and World War II, involving the United States Military. Although this island is just 30 miles long and 12 miles wide, it has been claimed and conquered by three different nations Spain, United States, and Japan. Guam s first part of history was when Ferdinand Magellan passed through the island on March 6, 1521. With the Spanish knowing what Guam has to offer, 44 years later Spain claimed the island in 1565 and was beginning to be colonized in 1668. According to the website of Destination 360, Guam was in perfect position to become a resting place for Spanish traders traveling between Mexico and the Philippines, and served this purpose until 1898 (Destination 360). In 1898, the Treaty of Paris was signed which gave Guam over to the United States. The U.S. had Guam for quite a while until Japan struck on December 8, 1941, a few hours after Pearl Harbor was attacked. This attack started World War II, which I believe the attack of Pearl Harbor was a decoy to invade and take over the island of Guam. The Liberation of Guam was in July, when the United States Military fought three hard years against the Japanese to claim back the island in 1944. With all that has gone down in history, has Guam s past

In the ancient times the number of moving people was little, but the causes were approximately the same. Especially, migration of ancient Turks had a significant role in formulation of world civilizations. Their migration periods cover several thousand years. The most famous migration stage of Turks was in the II VII centuries, well known as Migration Period. Turkic tribes migrated and spread their habitation because of three main factors. The first and the most significant cause of Turkic migration is related to economic issues. Many Turkic tribes migrated because of crisis and famine in their country. The famine derived from climate changes and severe climate in different periods. Living in difficult life circumstances, Turkic tribes decided to move in order to find fruitful lands. Direct Analysis Of Construction Delays The parameters of measurement of success of any project time, cost, safety, quality and customer satisfaction can be severely affected by construction delays (Shujaa Safdar Gardezi, 2013). This study investigates various factors affecting the timeline of the schedule by various participants in the project, followed by mathematical analysis to propose that the major reasons for delaysare the domestic issues of the country. 2.1 Current techniques for the analysis of delays Following are three different modes of application of delay analysis techniques based on their simulations with fundamental schedules: 1.Direct Analysis Direct analysis involves examining the available schedule information without doing any simulations and modifications. Therefore, it is relatively simple, easy, less time consuming and a lot less expensive to perform. 2.Additive Analysis In this methodology, the delays are added to the schedule as individual activities to simulate the actual scenario of occurrence and reflect the effects of the delays on the as planned schedule. The additions of the delays can be performed individually knowns as single stage analysis as well as in multiple schedules also known as multi stage analysis (Trauner, 1990). Some of the examples of additive analysis are time impact analysis, impacted as planned, window analysis and as planned but for. 3.Subtractive Analysis In this analysis, modifications and simulations are carried out on the as built schedules in a backward

Emma follows through with a sarcastic response in stating, Especially when one of those two is such a fanciful, troublesome creature (365). Austen indubitably succeeds in establishing tone through character interactions. Throughout the first chapter, Emma and her father mourn Miss Taylor s absence, and this slowly transmutes into a central conflict, as Austen states that Mr. Woodhouse has difficulty comprehending the notion that Miss Taylor could be more content with her new life that contrasts so greatly from the years she spent in his illustrious house. Emma mentions the prospect of visiting Miss Taylor and Mr. Weston frequently; this foreshadows a potential conflict in which Emma and her father attempt to quell their woes by interfering with Mr. Weston s and Miss Taylor s life. This attempt at foreshadowing is exacerbated through an encounter between the Woodhouses and Mr. Knightley, her brother in law. Mr. Knightley reprimand s Emma s superstitious ability to matchmake and dictate relationships. This gravitation toward other individuals affairs will likely permeate the entire novel. Emily Bronte is also able to develop the tone in a proficient manner throughout the first chapter of Wuthering Heights. Important discoveries concerning maritime trade was learned through the analysis of amphora found in Vault 1 of area C (Blakely 1988). This article not only focused upon a specific amphora that of Amphora Class 48/49 (Peacock and Williams 1986 p. 196 99) but also other Palestinian and imported amphorae found in the vault. Through the analysis of Class 48/49 information such as where the pottery was made and what goods they were transporting was learned. By studying the minerals found in the fabric of two of the sherds it was discovered that sherd 6.2 was formed in the Avdat region of the Negev (Blackely 1988, p. 38) while sherd 6.3, because of the amount of heavy metals found within identified the amphora as being made in Gaza or the Western Negev (Blackely 1988, p. 38). Coupled with the knowledge that very few examples of Amphora Class 48/49 were found inland while many examples were found in Caesarea, archaeologists theorized that the vessels arrived from the sea via Gaza avoiding any overland travel. In the article it is pointed out the dating for the vessel types is debated. Dates range from the third to the sixth, centuries. Of the Palestinian pottery, the analysis shows they might have contained water or wine, however, no evidence of oil was found (Blackely 1988, p. 39). One of the more common imported Amphora from vault 1 was the Rhodian Amphora (Blackely 1988, p. 41) and they were thought to have carried wine. Because of the large number of imported amphorae identified, the archaeologists hypothesised that the function of the vault was primarily that of a storage facility for international goods. After the contents of the amphora where analysed it became apparent that their purpose was not to transport only one product rather residue from two or more goods was found (Blackely 1988, p. 42). Another key piece of evidence identified was the

The symptoms of these disorders range from memory loss to blindness, physical abnormalities and more. A process known as gene editing was created in an attempt to do away with genetic disorders. Gene editing was named Science Magazine s Breakthrough of the Year 2015 due to its ease and high accessibility (ScienceDirect). It works by using CRISPR (Clustered Regularly Interspaced Short Palindromic Repeats) and Cas9 to make changes in the genes of cells. Francisco Mojica discovered CRISPR in 1993 at the University of Alicante in Spain (Broad Institute). It works by adding, changing or even removing DNAbases (Your Genome). Alexander Bolotin discovered Cas9 in 2005 at the French National Institute for Agricultural Research (Broad Institute). Cas9 is an enzyme that acts as a pair of molecular scissors that can cut two strands of DNA at a specific location in the genome so that bits of DNA can then be added or removed (YourGenome). The CRISPR Cas9 system has been used to correct genetic mutations and for replacing entire genes, opening up a world of possibilities for the treatment of genetic diseases (ScienceDirect). This makes CRISPR Cas9 a new and revolutionary technology with a wide range of potential applications, and almost everybody will be affected by gene editing in one way or another. The scientists currently working on making human gene editing a reality, is only one group of
