Biological Macromolecules
John B. Fenn, Koichi Tanaka, and Kurt Wuthrich have come up with methods about biological
macromolecules. Their discoveries have made chemical biology a more important part of science
today. Chemists are now able to briskly analyze what proteins are inside a sample more accurately.
Scientists are now able to see the proteins and how they function inside a cell.
Chemists are seeking to learn about proteins and how they function not only together, but with
other molecules. They are studying the fluctuation of these structures. They are questioning how
proteins look when they merge with other proteins. The studies of how distinct proteins and other
substances act together in the cell is called proteomics. This field of research is new, and ... Show

Determined by their charge and mass, they reach their targets . The ones that are lightest and have
the highest charge are the ones that are the fastest. There are two propositions for why proteins
transform into the gas phase without losing their structure and form. In John B. Fenn s method, he
sprays the sample with a stable electrical field to make small, charged, freely lingering ions. In
contrast, another method uses a profound laser pulse. If done correctly under the appropriate
conditions, the test molecules will be released as free ions after taking up energy of the laser pulse.
Koichi Tanaka, an engineer in Japan, reported a contrasting approach for the first critical stage.
This person demonstrated that the protein molecules could be ionized using SLD. Dissimilar to
the spray method, in a solid or viscous phase the laser pulse hits the sample. The principle is
primitive today for vigorous laser desorption methods. Biochemical analyses were impossible a
few years ago. To distinguish the signal systems of life, it is

Explain Why The Elk Enjoyed In The Field
The elk enjoyed being in the field. The rush of the breeze flowing threw his fur relaxes him. On
a hot sunny day he plays in the wet grass. He gets lonely sometimes because there is no one with
him but, he always finds a way to just have fun. The elk wakes up every morning and just lays
under the sun, he lets the hot breeze hit him and he thinks to himself why can t I be like other
animals ?where are all the other animals ?. The elk gets really lonely sometimes, he does the
same routine everyday he just eats, plays , sleeps .Well one day he woke up hearing noises. He
decided to go see what the noises were, as he gets closer and closer the noises get louder , Finally
he made it to this tree, he looks and sees all these other animals playing.

How Christianity Interects with Other Religions Essay
In our globalized world we live in today, people are getting more and more connected in all aspects
of life. The internet enables us to exchange thoughts and ideas with people from different
continents. From a Christian point of view, this globalization process also brings different religions
closer together. The issue we are discussing in class is how Christianity interacts with other
religions. On the following pages, I will take a closer look at Christianity and their encounter with
Animism, Hinduism and Buddhism. By examining the following questions, one should have a
better idea how these religions are really defined: Who or what is God, how does life after death
look like, and how do these religions define evil?
To begin with, when ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another religion explains God as cowardly, parting from the earth after a confrontation with angry
humans. Some African religions refer to this High God as a superior creator who abandoned the
universe and passed all divine power and responsibility onto the earthly spirits.
In Animistic cultures, life after death plays an important role as well. It accepts death as a rite of
passage into the spiritual realm. The animistic view of life and death are so delicately intertwined
that neither life stage is truly separate from the other; merely two sides of the same coin. For this
reason, there is generally little or no distinction between a god and an ancestor s spirit. Their
spiritual duties and influences are indivisible, as gods are present among the ancestors, spirits, and
humans. Sacrifices are usually made in the ancestor s honor in order to keep peace, wealth, and
health in good relations. Although there is no specific, universal doctrine for the Animistic culture,
there are some common beliefs concerning the afterlife. Because Animism is centered around the
concept of an interrelated spiritual and non spiritual world, Animistic cultures believe that the
spirits of those who die continue to live. Not only does the Animistic culture believe in the
continuation of spiritual life after death, but they also believe in reincarnation. Aside from the

Essay about Abraham Lincoln s Assassination
Abraham Lincoln, the sixteenth President of the United States was elected president on November
6 in the year 1860. Not even on the South s ballot, Lincoln received 40% of the popular vote. As a
strong republican, Lincoln believed in the abolition of slavery. Lincoln became president in the
highest conflict between North and South in history and wanted to preserve the Union. He believed
that the South should not be punished after the Civil War because he thought that they had already
been punished enough from the war. Abraham Lincolns lenient policies caused him to be hated by
both the North and the South. He believed that all should be treated with respect and wanted to

During the War, the Confederates general was Robert E. Lee; the best general in the United States,
and the Union s main general was Ulysses S. Grant. After several Union victories, including those
of Vicksburg and Gettysburg in 1863, it became clear the North would win. On April 3 of 1865,
Richmond, the capital of the Confederacy since May of 1865, fell to the Union forces. Then, less
than a week later, General Robert E. Lee surrendered at the Appomattox Courthouse, nearly ending
the war.
John Wilkes Booth became a professional actor at the age of seventeen (Reilly, 2012). During the

when Richmond fell, Booth was crushed by the collapse of the rebellion and returned to
Washington. Booth believed that Abraham Lincoln would be not be re elected for his second term

After the speech Booth uttered the words What an excellent chance I had, if I wished, to kill the
President on Inauguration day! (Swanson, 2006, p. 6). Shortly after the war, Lincoln gave a speech

Greek Mythology Heroes
In this paper I will analyze two characters in two separate works, one from a literary text and one
from a film. The focus of this paper will be on heroes that have a relationship to an element of
mythology. I will use the character Odysseus from Homer s epic poem, The Odyssey and the
character Wonder Woman from the American superherofilm Wonder Woman . In this essay I will
analyze the gender, appearance, actions, and roles that these heroes have. Throughout this essay, I
will also discuss the negative characteristics that both these heroes have, such as their violent
actions towards others. Heroes possess numerous qualities that make them great, however, there are
certain qualities of a hero that are consistent throughout Greek mythology; bravery, intelligence,
and strength. These qualities are significant to these two Greek Mythologies because these heroes
are known to bravely risk their lives for others, using their wisdom to guide them, all while
fighting strongly for what they believe in. This paper will serve to prove that regardless of the
gender of each of these personas, the characteristics that define a hero remain consistent.
To begin, I would like to provide the reader with some background information that pertains to
these heroes. Wonder Woman is a superhero who is also known as Princess Diana, and she grew
up on the Amazon Island of Themyseria. Wonder Woman has been granted superhero powers by
Zeus, to fight against Ares if he

As mentioned before, Rublev s art is influenced by Byzantine and Greek art, and one of the main
reasons for this was Theophanes the Greek, a famous iconographer who came to Russia at the end of
14th century. The relationship between Theophanes and his pupil Rublev was enigmatic, he invited
Rublev and to work with him on the Annunciation Cathedral. Rublev later instigated his own style
of painting. The reason for this was the appearance of Hesychast trend, which was not approved by
Hellenic, humanist believers, while Russians had no problem in understanding and following the
Hesychast, and practically that was the point of the creation of Andrei Rublev s

Leno Amendment Research Paper
6902 families have been evicted from San Francisco in 22 years. This isn t counting the
hundreds of other cities across California, and the number of families is only rising, and the Ellis
Act is to blame. Established in 1985, is a California law that allows landlords to evict tenants
when they are close to becoming bankrupt, or are currently bankrupt. However, the landlords who
utilize the law are often in neither situation. Due to the growing controversy, Senator Mark Leno
has proposed an amendment to the original act in order to combat the blatant greed that amassed
over 30 years. Despite its flaws, the Leno Amendment is the right step for California, as it will not

The Leno Amendment can help solve some of the issues that surround the act, by imposing new
restrictions and regulations that will hopefully reduce the number of casualties . In imposing fines
for violations of the act and limiting the number of times the act can be enforced, California is
headed in the right direction. However, it has some missteps, such as the lack of time extension for
evicted tenants to find new homes. Despite this, the Leno Amendment is the right choice for
California. As the Leno Amendment attempts to aid the financial situation of the tenants by giving
them more time to relocate, as well as being paid relocation fees, the state of California is
attempting to even out the wealth gap. The landlords gained the most money and made up smaller,
but wealthier end of the spectrum, whereas the tenants gained the least, and made up the poor
majority while the Ellis Act is in place. However, with the aid of the Leno Amendment, California
is not only addressing the issue of greed and high tenant evictions, it is also taking a progressive
step forward in the fight against the wealth

King Louis XIV Meaning
King Louis XIV is a regal king who values order and beauty; That is why he should purchase
PoussinВґs painting to represent his reign. PoussinВґs painting is full of order and unity; yet it
shows complete control of emotion through angles and lines. Making it the clear choice for a
representation of our king s reign. One of the largest struggles for a monarch is overcoming
emotion; yet showing emotions like love and compassion when they are needed. PoussinВґs
painting has the same show of emotion that a king needs and that King Louis XIV has. Nadera
Suleiman said, ВЁControl of emotions or lack of control causes empires to flourish or fall.ВЁ The
compositional symmetry in PoussinВґs painting shows control; Poussin has perfected the art of
directing the eye to where the emotion that is needed is shown. Every time a conversation is
had, there is a blending, or merging of ideas and opinions. A weak king would try to stop this
mixing from happening, thinking that he will loose his people to new ideas or places. Suleiman
states that the painting by Poussin ВЁdepicts different scenes over a period of time.ВЁ King Louis

Importance Of The 10th Amendment
The United States Constitution is the founding document of the current system in the United States
of America. The Constitution establishes the powers of the different branches of the government,
as well as creates the different laws of the land. Anything written in the Constitution or in its
amendments becomes part of the supreme law of the United States. As such, the Constitution and its
amendments, is the most important document in the land. With this being the case, it is important
for Americans to know about the amendments, and one of the most important amendments in the
Constitution is the 10th amendment. The 10th amendment is an extremely important amendment
that was necessary to help ratify the Constitution. The 10th amendment says: The powers not
delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the states, are reserved to
the states respectively, or to the people (Cornell Law School). This amendment is essentially saying
that any powers that the Constitution does not expressly give to the federal government, those
powers fall to the state governments. This means that certain government entities not outlined by
the Constitution, such as the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) or the Department of
Education, which provide more power to the federal government, are in violation of the
Constitution. These bodies are allowing the government more power than the Constitution provides
them. This overstepping that these government agencies

The Cathedral In The Cathedral By Raymond Carver
The narrator stared hard at the shot of the cathedral on the TV. How could I even begin to
describe it? But say my life depended on it. Say my life was being threatened by an insane guy
who said I had to do it or else (Carver 36). The narrator describes the event before just fine, with
the skeletons and people dressed as the devil, but he struggles with the cathedral. It was
unobtainable for him to do it, he was speechless. This is key because the narrator says he couldn
t even do it if his life depended on it. The narrator could see the cathedral but could not describe it
to Robert because he did not understand it. Not until he closed his eyes could he describe the
cathedral, and start to close this gap between understanding what he can see versus
understanding the meaning behind it. He starts to realize he s always been wrong about things
and his positions which led to his epiphany of change. Carver uses his writing to paint a picture
of the fulfillment of working together. The narrator says he found my hand, the hand with the
pen. He closed his hand over my hand. Go ahead, bub, draw, he said. Draw. You ll see. I ll follow
along with you. It ll be okay. Just begin now like I m telling you.You ll see. Draw, the blind

Crime Is The Nature Of Crime
It is widely assumed that the media, particularly television, newspapers and the internet, are
primary sources of knowledge and understanding of crime issues in our 21st century modern
society (Nguyen et. al, 2005). However, there is widespread concern that the level and type of
crime reported in the media produces an inaccurate view of the reality of crimein the community
(Fields Jerin, 1996; Windschuttle, 1988). The purpose of this essay is to address the question; is
the nature of crime in our society accurately presented in the media? To effectively provide an
answer, a discussion on public perceptions, crime statistics and the impact of crime reporting in the
media will commence. Following will be a conclusion that will state that the nature of crime in our
society is not accurately presented in the media.
There has been extensive research comparing the nature of crime in the media with the nature of
crime in reality with most evaluations concluding that the media greatly distorts or misrepresents
not only the nature of crime but also crime rates, typical victims and typical offenders (Hayes and
Prenzler, 2015). Often, this research draws upon official crime statistics which have consistently
shown that most crime is non violent and not rising (Davis Dossetor, 2010) which is oppositional
to the media s portrayal (Garofalo, 1981). Even so, public perceptions continue to emanate a
reflection of the media s influence as Davis Dossetor (2010) highlight through a

The Prologue By Anne Bradstreet
WHERE HUMILITY MEETS FEMINISM
Yet grant some small acknowledgement of ours.
Anne Bradstreet is among the most famous historical American female poets. Her seventeenth
century works of writing came at a time when the society was male dominated and the role of
women in the society was much more demeaned. Bradstreet is considered a feminist who advanced
her feministic ideas through her writings.
The Prologue speaks about Bradstreet s struggles with being a woman within a Puritan society.
During this time, women were not meant to speak their minds and were meant to recognise only
men s supposed superiority.
In her first stanza, Bradstreet immediately appears to demean her own writing proclaiming that
certain superior things are out ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Overall, as Margerum notes, Bradstreet never uses her sex as an excuse for writing poor poetry and
never offers apologies for writing poetry in the first place. She did not think it sinful or uncouth
for her to write, but rather, her humble remarks are creative applications of conventional and
obligatory poetic formulae, and not as expressions of self doubt or deprecations of her poetic
abilities. John Winthrop critiqued Bradstreet s writing , saying that it should be the job of men,
whose minds are stronger . Other members of the clergy in the Puritan society criticised Bradstreet
because of her fundamental challenge to the social constriction of female identity. In this regard,
Bradstreet has to be seen as one who possesses feminist sensibilities in what she believed, how she
behaved and the life she

Promiscuity In Sula
Steve Maraboli wrote, Incredible change happens in your life when you decide to take control
of what you do have power over, instead of craving control over what you don t. While
perceptions towards female sexuality have become more and more liberal over time, they still
tend towards an expediently bigoted dynamic in which women are only encouraged to be sexual
to an extent. The idea of women being self confident, even single minded, in cultivating rousing
sex lives is still often looked upon as immoral and impure. In Toni Morrisson s novel Sula, not
only is female sexuality lopsidedly categorized, it is seen as worthy for castigation. Missing
from the main conceptualization is the blunt acknowledgement that female promiscuity can be
empowering. A woman can derive power from her sexuality. By realizing what she s been gifted
with, she can gain her freedom. Sexual empowerment for her involves recognition of her sexual
being, embracing that power, and exhibiting it confidently without fear of disrepute. By
embracing the body she is born into, understanding the power it wields, and displaying total
command in making choices regarding her body, she holds the power to not be castigated for
craving and loving sex. Neither is she belittled with abusive words for not keeping her body as a
holy shrine, allowing only one man entry. A sexually assured woman, conscious of her own
desires, and confident in her allure can claim sex solely on her own terms.

Computer Or Network File Server
original files are saved onto the computer or network file server. The administrator sets up the
schedule for periodic backups to reduce the amount of information lost if an incident strikes. One
concern that comes with backups is the price and space of the server. With continuing information
being created daily, the storage will be used faster than ever until there is no more.
Usage of Information Getting the maximum value from stored information can be hard to do. In
the creation phase we have placed the documents in the proper location for use. If we are not getting
the use out of the information then why do we have it? With compliance toward data management
increasing the use of documents created is becoming a problem. When a company has so much
digital information that not used, it becomes a flood of digital waste. Electronic discovery can be a
debilitating expensive and may turn up difficult to explain documents or emails that the company
had no obligation to save prior to the litigation. Once litigation is foreseeable, disposing of
potentially relevant data can result in court ordered sanctions or even a default judgement (Reuters,
2016). Use of documents is a problem itself, the document needs to be a legalized use of data. If the
documents being used are not permitted then there could be regulatory or contractually constraints.
While using the information you must monitor who is gaining access to the information as well.

The Most Important Aspects Of The Profession Of Cpas
The accounting profession is considered a very important element in the business world and the
economic world. This profession is performed by the certified public accountant (CPA). After
passing the state s exam and meeting the additional experience requirement you will get a CPA
license. Based on the article of CPA Horizons 2025 we are going to identify the four influential
factors in the profession of CPAs, which are: Pre certification and lifelong learning, pride in the
profession, value proposition, and world wide profession.

They make their decisions based on financial information certified by CPAs. This profession, and
since its appearance, has not stagnated and has undergone several changes. These changes occurred
mainly after the financial scandals of the 2000s. These changes are primarily the approval of the
Sarbanes Oxley Act.
AICPA issued an examination of the future of the profession and the determining factors of the
future of CPAs. The project examined the trends affecting CPAs in their daily work, enlisted
opinions on how these trends will impact CPAs in the years ahead, and helped to identify actions
the profession could take to meet challenges and leverage opportunities now and in the coming
years. (AICPA)
In this study we will be interested to look at four influential factors in the profession of CPAs
which are: Pre certification and lifelong learning, pride in the profession, value proposition, and
world wide profession.
The four most important themes that I consider are:
1)Pre certification and lifelong Learning:
A CPA has to maintain a dynamic changing of business in matters related to government regulations
and compliance. There are different actions that a CPA can take in order to meet these needs; a
CPA must dedicate time to stay current with regulations, social economics, technology, and political
trends domestically and abroad as well. CPA must cultivate his/her interpersonal skills in order to

In 1993, Air India took delivery of the flagship of its fleet when the first Boeing 747 400 named

Communism And Communism Essay
China and Oceania are strikingly similar to each other. However, both countries are ruled by two
different political ideologies. To this day in China, the government organizes themselves under the
Communist party. Communism is, in theory, a classless society in which all wealth and property
are owned by the community as a whole, although in reality, there are few variations of this
definition as every society is different. Every building and plot of land is owned by the community.
The true goal of communismis to have a society without rulers, but Mao Zedong forged his own
path and abandoned this principle. When Mao Zedong gained control over China, he first hunted

A totalitarian government is own that is ruled by a single party, has total control of the military
and communication, uses terror as a controlled tactic, and controls the economy. In Oceania, Big
Brother dominates his citizens, military, and economy. While being tortured, one man says, I
don t care who it is or what you do to them. I ve got a wife and three children. The biggest of them
isn t six years old. You can take the whole lot of them and cut their throats in front of my eyes,
and I ll stand by and watch it. But not Room 101! (Orwell 299). The torture subjected by the
Ministry of Truth is so deplorable that the prisoner would rather see his own wife and children
suffer it over him. The use of torture forces confessions from every prisoner and influences them
to act and say as the government pleases, establishing complete control. The government also
exerts their control over Oceania by limiting the products in society: At any given moment there
was some necessary article which the Party shops were unable to supply. Sometimes it was
buttons, sometimes it was darning wool, sometimes it was shoelaces; at present it was razor
blades (Orwell 48). Orwell describes earlier, As a short time ago as February, the Ministry of
Plenty had issued a promise (a categorical pledge as they called it) that there would be no reduction
of the chocolate ration during 1984. Actually, as

Salt Water On Mars
Space exploration has interested the world for many decades, even centuries. From the time
Galileo first looked up into the stars, to the time of rockets to enter into outer space so much has
changed. Through the countless years of devoted research for life sustaining substances a recent
discovery may have changed our world forever. For years we have wondered if there has been a
water source on another planet. With Marsbeing in a more ideal location than Venus, the second
planet from The Sun due to temperature, scientist have been researching Mars for water precisely.
Images from NASAs Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter also known as the MRO, has shown citing s

Essay The Salem Witchcraft Trials of 1692
The Salem Witchcraft Trials of 1692
The Salem witchcraft trials of 1692, which resulted in 19 executions, and 150 accusations of
witchcraft, are one of the historical events almost everyone has heard of. They began when three
young girls, Betty Parris, Abigail Williams and Ann Putnam began to have hysterical fits, after
being discovered engaging in forbidden fortune telling (not dancing naked in the woods) to learn
what sorts of men they would marry. Betty s father, the Reverend Samuel Parris, called in more
senior authorities to determine if the girls affliction was caused by witchcraft. Although Betty was
sent away fairly soon, and did not participate in the trials, the other girls were joined by other young

Whereas in the past everyone in a locality had followed the same religion, people were now
exposed to Christianity and the local religions of people who had moved to their region, or
whose regions they had moved to. In the cities of central and southern Africa, many local
religions and Christian sects could be found, as well as Islam. Belief in witchcraft tended to unite
people across religious differences. Typically, the names brought to witch finders were those of
the same sort of local enemies we have become familiar with in reading about the Azande. As the
frenzy increased, people began to be accused who had not aroused any particular jealousies,
possibly because they possessed a peculiar bag or horn, which might be said to contain medicine in
one reported case, such a container did indeed contain medicine but ordinary physical medicine, not
magical substances. These crazes tended to die down, often after considerable conflict and property
damage, and the witch finders would then move on to the next town. As witchcraft accusations still
occur in the area, we can conclude that the movements did not get rid of witches forever, nor, unlike
the situation Salem or Europe, did belief in witchcraft itself actually end with the witch crazes.
The actual execution of witches was not usually a feature in African witchcraft, so there was
probably less to repent in the end, though there

At the Selfridges, the process of performance appraisal is redefined through the new role of leader.
As Purcell et al (2003) believes that the effective appraisal system has found to be the potential to
raise motivation, commitment and the extent to which employee make positive use of any
discretionary power they possess.
Performance appraisal is critical element in the performance management process. A primary aim
of the performance appraisal dimension of performance management is to assess or measure the
achievement of the individual or the team against the agreed objectives. (Stephen and Marjorie,
2006)
According to James N. Baron and David M. Kreps (1999) the consistency in HR practices is
important to achieve long term technical benefits through intensive training programs and careful
selection procedures. This will increase overall efficiency.

Another reason of guests prefer to select a credible brand and it can help them save shopping time
rather then choose a brand and they do not know before. This kind of phenomenon can be found in
the luxury hotels, and some of the customers prefer to pay more money for room and services to
decrease their risks on their expectation, the service from the hotel, and the high quality requirement
on the hotel rooms (Abdelbamied, 2011). Therefore, this proposal will define the impact of brand
credibility on brand preference, information costs saved, perceived risk, and brand prestige on
behavioural intention.
2. Literature Review Nowadays, the importance of brand credibility was greatly admitted as a
significant role in pricing strategies on customer perceptions already, and it shows by the
interactions of the salesperson, and the advertising and online website catalogues. Sweeney and
Swait (2008) identified that trustworthiness and capability are two elements of the brand credibility.
According to the researches by Louviere et al. (2002), it supports that the quality perceptions of the
customers will probably rise through the brand credibility. Researchers also find that brand
credibility can probably increase that guests will contain the consideration set of the brand (Erdem

Reward Systems
Introduction
Reward Management (RM) has been defined as the distribution of monetary and non monetary
rewards to employees in an effort to align the interests of the employees, the organisation, and its
shareholders (O Neil, 1998). In addition O Neil (1998) also suggests that a RM system can serve
the purpose of attracting prospective job applicants, retaining valuable employees, motivating
employees, ensuring legal requirements relating to direct and indirect rewards are not violated,
assisting the company in achieving human resource and business objectives, and ultimately
assisting the organisation in obtaining a competitive advantage.
Various conflicts in the RM system can affect the benefits that can be obtained. It has been argued

The fourth criterion is to ensure that the system is integrated with all other HRM functions, and that
the employees can control and influence the performance outcomes. Communication of the system
is the fifth criterion, the system, its objectives and the rewards must be effectively communicated to
all participants. The final criterion is that the system must be evaluated on a regular basis to ensure
the objectives and returns are being achieved. In addition RM has strong links with the following
Human Resource Management (HRM) functions; job analysis, recruitment, performance assessment
and union management relations.
As stated by Lawler (2002) individual based pay should be used to reward persons for their skills,
knowledge and competencies relative to their external market value. Multiple pay for performance
approaches should be used as rewards. Reward systems should be tailored to fit the characteristics
and requirements of the individuals that an organisation wishes to attract and retain.
Reward Management in the subject organisation
The subject organisation is a national company which was formed in 1976 and has thirteen
branches throughout Australia. The core business activities are the importation, sales, hire, and
spare parts backup of various types materials handling and mobile equipment throughout Australia.

nuclear deal with Iran. The deal has yet to be voted upon by Congress, but it is becoming

Comparing The Lone Ranger And Tonto Fistfight In Heaven
Based on the experiences and hardships of Native Americans in the United States, the stories
featured in The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven by Sherman Alexie display the
escapades of Victor and a few others such as Junior and Thomas. The collection of tales shows
various stereotypes of Native Americans that the author has identified with as aspects of his life
such as drinking problems within families. One of the main focuses of the book as a whole that was
present in almost every story was the relationship between Native Americans and other races. The
Natives in the story almost always inherently clashed with the whites of the story, however all was
not well between other minorities and even other Natives interacting with the protagonists. Race,
whether it is Native American, another minority, or white, does not determine the conflict and
tension between two people as displayed by Victor and Junior s interactions throughout The Lone
Rangerand TontoFistfight in Heaven. In the stories featured in Alexie s piece, damaging
relationships between Natives and their own families, neighbors, and peers can be seen. In the tale

The Differences between Normative and Pathological Child Behavior:
Oppositional Defiant Disorder
DEFINING OPPOSITIONAL DEFIANT DISORDER Children diagnosed with oppositional
defiant disorder, ODD, are characterized as displaying symptoms of age inappropriate recurrent
pattern of stubborn, hostile, disobedient, and defiant disorders , usually appearing prior to the
child entering his eighth year of age (Mash Wolfe, 2013). The DSM also lists impulse control
disorders, substance abuse disorders, and anxiety and mood disorders as comorbid disorders that
children with ODD have a considerable risk of developing. However, the diagnosis of oppositional

The study compared rates of symptoms of oppositional defiant disorder between children referred to
behavior health clinics, and children who had not been referred. Symptoms studied included losing
temper, defying adult s requests, argues with adults, purposely annoys others, blames others, easily
annoyed, angry and resentful, and spiteful and vindictive (Keenan Wakschlag, 2004). Overall, the
study found that rates of oppositional defiant disorder symptoms were significantly higher in
referred than non referred preschoolers (Keenan Wakschlag, 2004). In other words, while only 4
8% of children not believed to have oppositional defiant disorder exhibited the symptoms in
question, a significant amount of children diagnosed with oppositional defiant disorder, ranging
from 30 73%, did exhibit the symptoms. These numbers are strong evidence supporting the theory
that oppositional defiant disorder is, in face, a legitimate psychological disorder, and is not merely
bad behavior.
COMORBIDITY
Oppositional defiant disorder, apart from being characterized by behaviors more severe than those
exhibited by children not diagnosed, is also correlated to an increased risk in several other
disorders. These disorders include impulse control disorders, substance abuse disorders, and mood
and anxiety disorders. A

Divine Command Theory Of Religion
The name divine command theory is a ethical theory to believe on God and God s existence.
According to, divine command theory our good decisions and directions are made by God.
Every religion have some kind of directional books which is provided by God or his assistance

gives directions or guides to people about what is morally right or wrong. However, there are some

reality it may seems wrong to do that things and it happens in many times. For example, in Islam
they sacrifice cow in a specific day of the year name Eid Ul Azha. They sacrifice the animal and
share the beef among family, neighbors, and to the poor people. These things are commanded by
Allah/God in islam. On the other hand, in Hindu religion, eating beef is prohibited. Hindu respect
cow as their mother according to their religious guide. However, some people also does not
support to kill animal and they fell sorry for them. Moreover, in Hindu religion, husband is God
for the wife and they have to follow everything according too their husband. This thing is so

When Is Human Cloning Wrong
In February 1997, the scientific world was forever changed by the announcement of the birth of
Dolly the Sheep, the first mammal cloned from an adult cell (Jones 160). For the first time in
medical history, science allowed for the possibility of human cloning. With this development came
the concern that scientists would not only speculate about humancloning, but actually seek to
attempt it. Such a prospect generates ethical unease from both the public and Christian community.
From a Christian perspective, human cloning creates concerns for the well being of a cloned child
or embryo and usurps God s plan for human dominion. Human cloning would not be compatible
with Christian ethics. In this essay, any reference to the word clone may be... Show more content on

Therapeutic cloning holds the potential to treat illnesses like heart and kidney disease, but the
methods require that human embryos be destroyed for the benefit of others (Hansen Schotsman
76). The Bible directly states that killing is a sin (NIV Bible, Exodus 20:13). Although some may
argue that using an embryo for medicine is not murder, therapeutic cloning create embryos (the
very first stage of humanness) for the sole purpose of harvesting the stem cells, thus ending the
budding life of said embryo. This process certainly reflects a form of killing, even if it is only the
destruction of an incredibly early human form. Additionally, taking advantage of human embryos
disobeys Jesus command to love one another (NIV Bible, John 13:34). Jones states that therapeutic
cloning [undermines] the welfare and dignity of human embryos, which as the weakest and most
vulnerable of human beings should under no circumstances be experimented upon (174). No
situation could justify the exploitation of human embryos for the medicinal benefits of therapeutic

An Introduction Of Analgesic And Anti Inflammatory
CHAPTER 1
Introduction and Background
Introduction
Analgesic and anti inflammatory are often used in the Philippines. They manage pain by altering
other afferent input. Anti inflammatory are used to mobilize the body s defense and destroys
microorganisms, so tissue repair can proceed. Inflammatory response lasts longer, and drugs are
used to suppress the symptoms that cause inflammation.
Plants have first been discovered throughout human history as a source of food and energy. The use
of them as medicinal agents predates written human history. At present, plants are now rampant
sources of various types of medicines and remedies, whether they are pharmaceutically
manufactured or used naturally. The term medicinal plants are referred to as the plants themselves,
while plant medicines are the pharmaceutical preparations prepared from those plants. (Kilham, C.
and Helene, Z., 2012). Abelmoschus esculentus L., commonly known as okra or ladies finger , is a
substantial vegetable common among Filipino homes. The pods of okra are usually gathered while

Grandiose Narcissism
Facebook is a mirror and Twitter is a megaphone, according to a new University of Michigan
(2013) study exploring how social media reflect and amplify the culture s growing levels of
narcissism. Dr. Twenge of San Diego State University studied more than 16,400 students who
took the Narcissistic Personality Inventory between 1982 and 2006. In 1982, only a third of the
students scored above average on the test. Today that number is over 65%. Dr. Twenge warns that
narcissists lack empathy, overreact to criticism, and favor themselves over others. They are
incapable of cheering anyone else s success. Ultimately, they led miserable lives because they
cannot form and maintain healthy relationships. (Aspen Education, 2011) Today s generation or
the millenial generation has been well known for being the narcissistic generation. The term
Narcissistic was coined from the story of Narcissus in Greek Mythology(Karrenbrock, 2012)
Narcissus loved himself too much. The Millenial generation had dedicated a lot of contribution to
this because of loving oneself too much like Narcissus. This gave way to Narcissism. There are two
kinds of narcissism: the vulnerable narcissism and the grandiose narcissism. This study focused on
grandiose narcissism or grandiosity. Grandiosity, as defined by Psychology Today, means an
unrealistic sense of superiority, a sustained view of oneself as better than others that prompts
narcissists to view others with disdain and view them as inferior. It also

Animal Testing is Unnecessary and Cruel Essay example
Carrots the rabbit has been under experimentations for almost all of his life. He has to suffer so
someone can wash his or her hair. The makers of Dove shampoo are probably going to shove
shampoo down his throat his reaction to it. Even if the rabbit lives through the experiment, there
still going to kill him to see what happened to his organs. If this were a humanbeing experimented
on, people would be mesmerized. Scientist are debating whether shoving shampoo down a rabbits
throat is effective. Testing on animals is a highly disagreeable process that should not be allowed.
An animal is a living thing and so is a human. They eat, sleep, and live their life. Animals have
rights. Why is it allowed that animals have to suffer so a human ... Show more content on

Another point why animal testing is wrong is because of the brutal things that happen to the
animals. For example, the Draize Test is used on white albino rabbits. They use white albino
rabbits because of their sensitive eyes. In this process scientist, rub shampoo, soap, toothpaste or
lawn products into their beautiful red eyes. Then they record the damage, they have observed.
The test lasts up to 18 days, with the poor animals eyelids held open with a clip. Many of the
rabbits end up with broken necks trying to escape from terrifying pain. First, it is unreasonable to
keep the product in their eye that long. Not even a child would keep a product in their eye that
long. The whole experiment was unnecessary to do. The eye tissue of a rabbit is very different
from a human eye tissue. The pain they go through had no benefits.
A final reason why animal testing is pointless is that there is no law saying that it is necessary to
test any product on animals. Why make an animal suffer when there is no need? There are
alternatives for animal testing that would have better results for humans, and it would not be

The First English Dictionary By Samuel Johnson
Lexicography is a historic practice which has existed for centuries. It is the practice and process
of binding an entire lexicon into a single, readable text. This is a formidable task to undertake.
The original definition of lexicon is as follows: A dictionary; a book teaching the signification of
words (Johnson, 233). The public uses dictionaries as guidebooks for meaningful speech and
discourse. Those who task themselves with creating these texts are called lexicographers. The first
English dictionarywas written by Samuel Johnson in 1755. Johnson shared his views of
lexicographers in his preface to A Dictionary of the English Language :
Among these unhappy mortals is the writer of dictionaries; whom mankind have considered, not
as the pupil, but the slave of science, the pioneer of literature, doomed only to remove rubbish and
clear obstructions from the path of Learning and Genius, who press forward to conquest and glory,
without bestowing a smile on the humble drudge that facilitates their progress. Every other authour
may aspire to praise; the lexicographer can only hope to escape reproach, and even this negative
recompense has been yet granted to very few (Johnson, 3).
Johnson s somewhat dismal description of the pains lexicographers must undergo is very telling of
the innate stress and responsibility of dictionary making. They are held accountable for the
definitions and usage rules of an entire language; this is a respectable undertaking. The process of

The Theory Of Progress And Its Components
The optimism of some human s nature has brought forth interpretations such as the progress theory
to reflect it. Looking back on the world and prescribing that it was a primitive existence compared
to the present is an interpretation that has held some ground until the face of adversary reveals
itself. The progress of human history near the common day is not a straight linear progression that
hits abstract checkmarks of movements and revolutions, but it is a more complex study. Historians
such as J.B. Bury, Herbert Butterfield, and John Lukacs talk about the theory of progress and how it
manifests in historical writings. The scientists, C.P Snow wrote in the Two Cultures a framework
of mind of the significant revolutions in science. The... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The ability to look at the past and its developments is invaluable to see the developments play out
and see how progress is a limited ideal. The past might be crystallized now in textbooks, but the
people of the past did not have the future at their grasp to evaluate. The abridgement between time
periods and movements are not times that we can consider as straight forward progressions, but
times in their own right and merit. The luxury of looking back into the past is a convenience
that allows the historian, student, or teacher to read into the times, but that convenience also
draws lines where causes and effects were not as simple. The tendency to patch the new research
into the old story even when the research in detail has altered the bearings of the whole subject is
an effect of the convenience and discredits the past with comparisons to the present. The past is
also held to a standard that keeps the present wondering on how this preceded it. When studying
the past it is desirable to see one s time as superior and one that is pioneering the mantle of
progress, but this is not so when the direction that follows is not a desired one such as Snow s
description of the sciences where if the scientists have the future in their bones, then the traditional
culture responds by wishing the future did not exist. This is common since We live forward, but
we can only think backward , but

The American Of Canadian Foreign Relations
Over the course of history Canada has engaged in social, political, economic and cultural relations
with various countries. Managing relationships and foreign policy are key elements in Canadian
foreign policy. These relationships and policies have taken many different shapes and forms as
expected, and thus, the history of Canadian foreign relations is a significant part of Canadas identity
as a nation today. In particular, one aspect that is often analyzed on this topic is the how the
Americans failed to conquer Canada. One can only imagine how different Canada would be if
certain battles favoured the Americans. It is evident, that the Americans failure to conquer Canada
was a result of poor war tactics and military conduct at crucial points in time. The Americans were
not fully prepared to conquer Canada as a whole, and underestimated the Canadians in terms of
their war capabilities, loyalty and readiness for war. The Americans also naively believed they could
take advantage and attack the British during the American Revolution.
An important period to consider is 1775 1783 where crucial battles and victories emerged for
Canada against the Americans. In December of 1975, the Americans decided to attack Quebec,
what is known and referred to as the Battle of Quebec in the American Revolutionary War. The
purpose or motive of the invasion was to incorporate Quebec into the thirteen colonies. This would
ultimately prove to be a failure for the Americans, which is discussed

Heroin Addictions
Ring, Ring, Ring... every time I hear that sound in the middle of the night, I am terrified to

Andy is my stepbrother, he has been battling his heroin addiction since we were fifteen years old,
and I have seen firsthand how this disease can rip a family apart. Andy s addictionhas inflicted such
tremendous stress and hurt on my parents and watching them try to help him recover from this

Buprenorphine and methadone, both being opioids, activate the opioid (mu) receptors on nerve
cells. And both drugs have long half life s, meaning that they re long acting medications (Reuter,
Nicholas, and Reckitt Benckiser). The chief difference between the two detoxifiers is the idea of
a partial agonist versus a full agonist; methadone and heroin are full agonist where as
buprenorphine is only a partial agonist (Reuter, Nicholas, and Reckitt Benckiser). Methadone, as a
full mu opioid agonist, continues to produce effects on the receptors until either all receptors are
fully activated, or the maximum effect is reached (Reuter, Nicholas, and Reckitt Benckiser).
Whereas buprenorphine is a derivative of thebaine, an extract of opium. The drug is an opioid
partial agonist and thus can produce euphoria, analgesia, and sedation associated with opiates (US
Department of Justice). Essentially methadone has been proven to be more dangerous and addictive
than buprenorphine, but buprenorphine has also been proven to create dependency and death. It is
by their actions on opioid receptors that opioids achieve their analgesic (pain killing) as well as
their addictive effects (Reuter, Nicholas, and Reckitt Benckiser). In layman s terms the partial
agonist of buprenorphine and the full agonist of methadone determine the effects and side effects of
the drug, buprenorphine is deemed milder than methadone

Amid it s 99.97 percent efficient HEPA filter, odor controlling carbon pre filter, and it s employment
of Plasma Wave technology, this machine provides superior quality control over odors, pollutants,

The disadvantage of this attractive modern meets contemporary machine in aesthetic appearance is
that just like other air purifiers that employ a true HEPA for air filtration, this device requires an

The Mind And The Brain
Over many years, scientists and philosophers have asked the question: is there any difference in the
mind and the brain? These genius minds have searched without sleep trying to figure out this
question, but, the puzzles behind our consciousness remain unsolved and unreachable. Philosophers
such as Peter Carruthers argue that the mindis the brainand that objections like those made by,
philosopher, Frank Jackson, are based on a conflation of know how with knowing that. Again, we
are left with the question of whether or not the mind is the brain or if the mind is a completely
separate entity in itself. In order to figure this, very difficult and confusing question out, an
overview of some philosophical theories can be made, along with an... Show more content on

Pluralism is the view that there are many kinds or categories. (Robinson) In a gist, pluralism
argues that, fundamentally, there is a single reality but it may present a different aspect of that
reality. Before evaluating whether there is an existing relationship between the brain and the mind,
there should be an explanation of what the mind is. One answer to the concept of the mind is that
it causes a conscious experience and that it is a program or, wholly a system that monitors
behavior. To break it down more simply, the mind can be defined as consciousness. Consciousness
can, most obviously, be defined as the awareness of the things happening around us as well as the
awareness that we exist. If we come to an assumption that the mind is a conscious happening,
does mind control brain or is mind the result of what the brain is processing? Studies of the
cognitive mind have gone so far as to argue that consciousness may arise from cellular or sub
cellular level of organization rather than, what is scientifically assumed, nerve circuitry. (Thagard)
Alternatively, a certain conscious experience, by itself, cannot reckon for the mind as a major part
of the behavior we display unconsciously. Some things, such as brightness and size, are preserved
by our nervous system, falling below widely changing environmental things such as distance and
light. (Thagard) Our consciousness is not immediately necessary for learning. For example,
preparing is usually

Compare And Contrast The Emancipation Proclamation
The Emancipation Proclamation and The Emancipation Manifesto were two documents written in
the mid nineteenth century with many similarities. The two were similar in ways, they were
abolishing something that their respective governments believed was wrong, they were different in
the way that they were written for different reasons and had their own purposes. The conditions in
both America and Russia were similar in ways but different in many as well, the two leaders at the
time, Abraham Lincolnand Alexander II chose to solve their problem in a process that also
compared and differed from one another. I believe that the Emancipation Proclamationwas the best
solution for the problems that these countries faced in my opinion.

I believe that the Emancipation Proclamation was the better solution. The Emancipation
Proclamation did so much more than just abolish slavery. It gave the Union a clear cut war
objective and that was for the freedom of the African American slaves. Many African Americans
soon joined the fight because they knew that they were fighting for their own freedom. Lincoln
knew as well if he issued the Emancipation Proclamation it would create chaos in the south when
word was received by the slaves that they were supposed to be free. By issuing the Emancipation
Proclamation Lincoln also made it very difficult for any foreign nations to join in on the side of
the Confederacy. The British of the French could never join in on the war because they
themselves had abolished slavery years ago and the view of them in the world would decrease
immensely if they were to join a war to support slavery. All these reasons are why I believe that the
Emancipation Proclamation was the better solution out of the two

Introduction
Missionary expansion throughout the centuries has taken a hard, often violent road. The expansion
of Christianity begins with the adherents of Jesus Christ and ended with the premature demise of
many of the disciples. In the centuries following the disciples, many missionaries were faced with
percussion and death as the gospel was proclaimed. As missionary expansion occurs throughout
the centuries, often times facing trial and difficulty, the question comes up; is the capital cost of
missionary expansion worth the monetary value? This paper will highlight many trials that have
been faced by three missionaries in particular and explain often by the words of these
missionaries why the enormous cost of missionary expansion is worth the cost. The thesis of this
paper is: everyone is called to preach the gospel; the calling of the missionary is called to live by
faith even when facing difficulty.

Theme Of Imperialism In To Kill A Mockingbird
The other in the civil rights movement as represented in literature in harper lee s To Kill a

backgrounds they tend to define the others by defining themselves. Jacque Derrida puts it in his

Graffiti And Street Art By Christine Graff
From the early humans who painted on cave walls to the angst ridden teenager getting their kicks
from spray painting profanities on the side of a small business, human beings seem to have an
intrinsic desire to paint images on the walls that surround them. This has led to many individuals
painting on walls without permission. Although the walls cannot speak, city officials and the
owners of businesses can and when they do, Graffitiis usually one of the words used to describe the
images produced. However, although often overlooked, a line does exist between graffiti and street
art. Christine Graff writes Graffiti is defined as writing or drawings scribbled, scratched, or sprayed

Street art is a viable way to breathe life into suffering areas of a town. A prime example of this in
action is the Wynwood Walls project started by Tony Goldman, who saw the massive empty walls
of the warehouses in the Wynwood district of Miami, Florida as massive canvases. Goldman
sought to bring the best street artists from all over the world in order to not only revitalize a mostly
dead district, but also to legitimize street art, which he felt was minimalized and often looked down
upon. The area has now become an international tourist attraction, bringing in those who wish to see
the massive murals that populate the area (About Wynwood Walls).
Another urban rejuvenation project called the Heidelberg Project, founded in 1986 by Tyree
Guyton, has become a tourist attraction and a source of local pride.
Guyton returned to Heidelberg Street and was upset at the state of his childhood home. Drugs,
racism and violence had turned the once average neighborhood into a desolate ghetto. With
encouragement from his grandfather, Guyton decided that he would take action and attempt to turn
the dying neighborhood into a thriving community. Guyton, his grandfather and the neighborhood
children worked together to clean up the neighborhood and use the objects collected during the
cleanup to turn the neighborhood into a vibrant piece of art. The project, although destroyed

Male Gaze Theory Depicted in American Pie
THE MALE GAZE THEORY AS PORTRAYED IN AMERICAN PIE
I. Introduction The position of women in the society at present has changed gradually in the last
few centuries. The role of women, as dictated by the society, is perceived by how they re
presented. Since the last three centuries, women have always been viewed as just housewives
and objects of perversion. Media is one of the factors why women are perceived as secondary to
men. This is why media has a major influence to the humanity because it can reach almost all the
parts of the world. May it be in print media or in film productions; women are always depicted as
inferior and submissive to men s desires. There have been different movements aimed in ... Show

This is what she developed from the theory proposed by Muvley. Studlar suggested that audience
is only overwhelmed by the cinematic representation and becomes incapable. There are two
different levels of the demonstration of the women in the society wherein they are called as the
Passive and the male as the Active . 1. A womanis an erotic object for both the characters within
the film. For example, Stiffler, a character in the American Pie movie, depicts a lady that passed
by as a visual pleasure to him. But, what if the lady looks like a big, fat loser? By that, men has
the social power to dictate whether a girl can be subscribed as beautiful or not; as a sex object or
not. 2. The spectator who is watching the film finds the woman as an erotic object. In accordance
to what is cited above, the dominance of male directors in the Hollywood scene also gives the
power of judgment to its audience, the male population. Of course, when the male characters feel
that the woman being perceived is perfect for being a visual pleasure, it tends to drive the audience
in the same manner, too. These two different perspectives show that a woman(Passive), as depicted
in the Hollywood films, are just inferior to the social control held by men(Active).
II. Logical Argument (Analysis)
Women, even at the present, are still being depicted as weak and are always perceived as to submit

Running head: A CONCEPT ANALYSIS OF ?A CALLING? TO NURSING1 A CONCEPT
ANALYSIS OF ?A CALLING? TO NURSING14 Abstract The aim of this paper is to clarify the
concept of ?a calling? as it relates to nursing. The purpose is to develop a definition with the detail
and clarity needed to guide reliable and valid research. The classic steps described by Walker and
Avant (2011) are used for the analysis. Literature from several disciplines is reviewed including
vocational psychology, Christian Career counseling, sociology, organizational management and
nursing. The analysis provides an operational definition of ?a calling? to nursing and establishes
three defining attributes of the concept: (a) a passionate intrinsic motivation or desire (perhaps with
a religious component), (b) fulfillment of an aspiration for the work to provide meaningfulness or
purpose in one?s life, and (c) helping other through caregiving. Antecedents to the concept are
personal introspective and cognitive awareness. Positive consequences to the concept are improved
work meaningfulness, work engagement, career commitment, personal well being and satisfaction.
Negative consequences of having ?a calling? might include willingness to sacrifice wellbeing for
work and problems with work life balance. Following the concept analysis, philosophical

  • 2. Biological Macromolecules John B. Fenn, Koichi Tanaka, and Kurt Wuthrich have come up with methods about biological macromolecules. Their discoveries have made chemical biology a more important part of science today. Chemists are now able to briskly analyze what proteins are inside a sample more accurately. Scientists are now able to see the proteins and how they function inside a cell. Chemists are seeking to learn about proteins and how they function not only together, but with other molecules. They are studying the fluctuation of these structures. They are questioning how proteins look when they merge with other proteins. The studies of how distinct proteins and other substances act together in the cell is called proteomics. This field of research is new, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Determined by their charge and mass, they reach their targets . The ones that are lightest and have the highest charge are the ones that are the fastest. There are two propositions for why proteins transform into the gas phase without losing their structure and form. In John B. Fenn s method, he sprays the sample with a stable electrical field to make small, charged, freely lingering ions. In contrast, another method uses a profound laser pulse. If done correctly under the appropriate conditions, the test molecules will be released as free ions after taking up energy of the laser pulse. Koichi Tanaka, an engineer in Japan, reported a contrasting approach for the first critical stage. This person demonstrated that the protein molecules could be ionized using SLD. Dissimilar to the spray method, in a solid or viscous phase the laser pulse hits the sample. The principle is primitive today for vigorous laser desorption methods. Biochemical analyses were impossible a few years ago. To distinguish the signal systems of life, it is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. How Christianity Interects with Other Religions Essay In our globalized world we live in today, people are getting more and more connected in all aspects of life. The internet enables us to exchange thoughts and ideas with people from different continents. From a Christian point of view, this globalization process also brings different religions closer together. The issue we are discussing in class is how Christianity interacts with other religions. On the following pages, I will take a closer look at Christianity and their encounter with Animism, Hinduism and Buddhism. By examining the following questions, one should have a better idea how these religions are really defined: Who or what is God, how does life after death look like, and how do these religions define evil? To begin with, when ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another religion explains God as cowardly, parting from the earth after a confrontation with angry humans. Some African religions refer to this High God as a superior creator who abandoned the universe and passed all divine power and responsibility onto the earthly spirits. In Animistic cultures, life after death plays an important role as well. It accepts death as a rite of passage into the spiritual realm. The animistic view of life and death are so delicately intertwined that neither life stage is truly separate from the other; merely two sides of the same coin. For this reason, there is generally little or no distinction between a god and an ancestor s spirit. Their spiritual duties and influences are indivisible, as gods are present among the ancestors, spirits, and humans. Sacrifices are usually made in the ancestor s honor in order to keep peace, wealth, and health in good relations. Although there is no specific, universal doctrine for the Animistic culture, there are some common beliefs concerning the afterlife. Because Animism is centered around the concept of an interrelated spiritual and non spiritual world, Animistic cultures believe that the spirits of those who die continue to live. Not only does the Animistic culture believe in the continuation of spiritual life after death, but they also believe in reincarnation. Aside from the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. , Wonder Woman And Wonder Woman Greek Mythology Heroes In this paper I will analyze two characters in two separate works, one from a literary text and one from a film. The focus of this paper will be on heroes that have a relationship to an element of mythology. I will use the character Odysseus from Homer s epic poem, The Odyssey and the character Wonder Woman from the American superherofilm Wonder Woman . In this essay I will analyze the gender, appearance, actions, and roles that these heroes have. Throughout this essay, I will also discuss the negative characteristics that both these heroes have, such as their violent actions towards others. Heroes possess numerous qualities that make them great, however, there are certain qualities of a hero that are consistent throughout Greek mythology; bravery, intelligence, and strength. These qualities are significant to these two Greek Mythologies because these heroes are known to bravely risk their lives for others, using their wisdom to guide them, all while fighting strongly for what they believe in. This paper will serve to prove that regardless of the gender of each of these personas, the characteristics that define a hero remain consistent. To begin, I would like to provide the reader with some background information that pertains to these heroes. This isn t counting the hundreds of other cities across California, and the number of families is only rising, and the Ellis Act is to blame. Established in 1985, is a California law that allows landlords to evict tenants when they are close to becoming bankrupt, or are currently bankrupt. However, the landlords who utilize the law are often in neither situation. Due to the growing controversy, Senator Mark Leno has proposed an amendment to the original act in order to combat the blatant greed that amassed over 30 years. In imposing fines for violations of the act and limiting the number of times the act can be enforced, California is headed in the right direction. However, it has some missteps, such as the lack of time extension for evicted tenants to find new homes. Despite this, the Leno Amendment is the right choice for California. As the Leno Amendment attempts to aid the financial situation of the tenants by giving them more time to relocate, as well as being paid relocation fees, the state of California is attempting to even out the wealth gap. The landlords gained the most money and made up smaller, but wealthier end of the spectrum, whereas the tenants gained the least, and made up the poor majority while the Ellis Act is in place. However, with the aid of the Leno Amendment, California is not only addressing the issue of greed and high tenant evictions, it is also taking a progressive step forward in the fight against the wealth ... PoussinВґs painting is full of order and unity; yet it shows complete control of emotion through angles and lines. Making it the clear choice for a representation of our king s reign. One of the largest struggles for a monarch is overcoming emotion; yet showing emotions like love and compassion when they are needed. PoussinВґs painting has the same show of emotion that a king needs and that King Louis XIV has. Nadera Suleiman said, ВЁControl of emotions or lack of control causes empires to flourish or fall.ВЁ The compositional symmetry in PoussinВґs painting shows control; Poussin has perfected the art of directing the eye to where the emotion that is needed is shown. Every time a conversation is had, there is a blending, or merging of ideas and opinions. Reardon, was about a young tour guide whom decides to mess with the mind of two bickering couples that came to visit the notorious caverns. It s a short ten minute comedy play, and it was first executed in Louisville on May 25, 1983. • 14. Importance Of The 10th Amendment The United States Constitution is the founding document of the current system in the United States of America. The Constitution establishes the powers of the different branches of the government, as well as creates the different laws of the land. Anything written in the Constitution or in its amendments becomes part of the supreme law of the United States. As such, the Constitution and its amendments, is the most important document in the land. With this being the case, it is important for Americans to know about the amendments, and one of the most important amendments in the Constitution is the 10th amendment. The 10th amendment is an extremely important amendment that was necessary to help ratify the Constitution. The 10th amendment says: The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the states, are reserved to the states respectively, or to the people (Cornell Law School). This amendment is essentially saying that any powers that the Constitution does not expressly give to the federal government, those powers fall to the state governments. This means that certain government entities not outlined by the Constitution, such as the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) or the Department of Education, which provide more power to the federal government, are in violation of the Constitution. These bodies are allowing the government more power than the Constitution provides them. This overstepping that these government agencies ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The narrator describes the event before just fine, with the skeletons and people dressed as the devil, but he struggles with the cathedral. It was unobtainable for him to do it, he was speechless. This is key because the narrator says he couldn t even do it if his life depended on it. The narrator could see the cathedral but could not describe it to Robert because he did not understand it. Not until he closed his eyes could he describe the cathedral, and start to close this gap between understanding what he can see versus understanding the meaning behind it. He starts to realize he s always been wrong about things and his positions which led to his epiphany of change. Carver uses his writing to paint a picture of the fulfillment of working together. • 17. Crime Is The Nature Of Crime It is widely assumed that the media, particularly television, newspapers and the internet, are primary sources of knowledge and understanding of crime issues in our 21st century modern society (Nguyen et. al, 2005). However, there is widespread concern that the level and type of crime reported in the media produces an inaccurate view of the reality of crimein the community (Fields Jerin, 1996; Windschuttle, 1988). The purpose of this essay is to address the question; is the nature of crime in our society accurately presented in the media? To effectively provide an answer, a discussion on public perceptions, crime statistics and the impact of crime reporting in the media will commence. Following will be a conclusion that will state that the nature of crime in our society is not accurately presented in the media. There has been extensive research comparing the nature of crime in the media with the nature of crime in reality with most evaluations concluding that the media greatly distorts or misrepresents not only the nature of crime but also crime rates, typical victims and typical offenders (Hayes and Prenzler, 2015). Often, this research draws upon official crime statistics which have consistently shown that most crime is non violent and not rising (Davis Dossetor, 2010) which is oppositional to the media s portrayal (Garofalo, 1981). Even so, public perceptions continue to emanate a reflection of the media s influence as Davis Dossetor (2010) highlight through a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 18. The Prologue By Anne Bradstreet WHERE HUMILITY MEETS FEMINISM Yet grant some small acknowledgement of ours. Anne Bradstreet is among the most famous historical American female poets. Her seventeenth century works of writing came at a time when the society was male dominated and the role of women in the society was much more demeaned. Bradstreet is considered a feminist who advanced her feministic ideas through her writings. The Prologue speaks about Bradstreet s struggles with being a woman within a Puritan society. During this time, women were not meant to speak their minds and were meant to recognise only men s supposed superiority. John Winthrop critiqued Bradstreet s writing , saying that it should be the job of men, whose minds are stronger . • 20. Promiscuity In Sula Steve Maraboli wrote, Incredible change happens in your life when you decide to take control of what you do have power over, instead of craving control over what you don t. While perceptions towards female sexuality have become more and more liberal over time, they still tend towards an expediently bigoted dynamic in which women are only encouraged to be sexual to an extent. The idea of women being self confident, even single minded, in cultivating rousing sex lives is still often looked upon as immoral and impure. In Toni Morrisson s novel Sula, not only is female sexuality lopsidedly categorized, it is seen as worthy for castigation. Missing from the main conceptualization is the blunt acknowledgement that female promiscuity can be empowering. A woman can derive power from her sexuality. By realizing what she s been gifted with, she can gain her freedom. Sexual empowerment for her involves recognition of her sexual being, embracing that power, and exhibiting it confidently without fear of disrepute. By embracing the body she is born into, understanding the power it wields, and displaying total command in making choices regarding her body, she holds the power to not be castigated for craving and loving sex. Neither is she belittled with abusive words for not keeping her body as a holy shrine, allowing only one man entry. A sexually assured woman, conscious of her own desires, and confident in her allure can claim sex solely on her own terms. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Usage of Information Getting the maximum value from stored information can be hard to do. In the creation phase we have placed the documents in the proper location for use. If we are not getting the use out of the information then why do we have it? With compliance toward data management increasing the use of documents created is becoming a problem. When a company has so much digital information that not used, it becomes a flood of digital waste. Electronic discovery can be a debilitating expensive and may turn up difficult to explain documents or emails that the company had no obligation to save prior to the litigation. Once litigation is foreseeable, disposing of potentially relevant data can result in court ordered sanctions or even a default judgement (Reuters, 2016). Use of documents is a problem itself, the document needs to be a legalized use of data. If the documents being used are not permitted then there could be regulatory or contractually constraints. Typically, the names brought to witch finders were those of the same sort of local enemies we have become familiar with in reading about the Azande. As the frenzy increased, people began to be accused who had not aroused any particular jealousies, possibly because they possessed a peculiar bag or horn, which might be said to contain medicine in one reported case, such a container did indeed contain medicine but ordinary physical medicine, not magical substances. These crazes tended to die down, often after considerable conflict and property damage, and the witch finders would then move on to the next town. Comparing The Lone Ranger And Tonto Fistfight In Heaven Based on the experiences and hardships of Native Americans in the United States, the stories featured in The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven by Sherman Alexie display the escapades of Victor and a few others such as Junior and Thomas. The collection of tales shows various stereotypes of Native Americans that the author has identified with as aspects of his life such as drinking problems within families. One of the main focuses of the book as a whole that was present in almost every story was the relationship between Native Americans and other races. The Natives in the story almost always inherently clashed with the whites of the story, however all was not well between other minorities and even other Natives interacting with the protagonists. Symptoms studied included losing temper, defying adult s requests, argues with adults, purposely annoys others, blames others, easily annoyed, angry and resentful, and spiteful and vindictive (Keenan Wakschlag, 2004). Overall, the study found that rates of oppositional defiant disorder symptoms were significantly higher in referred than non referred preschoolers (Keenan Wakschlag, 2004). In other words, while only 4 8% of children not believed to have oppositional defiant disorder exhibited the symptoms in question, a significant amount of children diagnosed with oppositional defiant disorder, ranging from 30 73%, did exhibit the symptoms. These numbers are strong evidence supporting the theory that oppositional defiant disorder is, in face, a legitimate psychological disorder, and is not merely bad behavior. For the first time in medical history, science allowed for the possibility of human cloning. With this development came the concern that scientists would not only speculate about humancloning, but actually seek to attempt it. Such a prospect generates ethical unease from both the public and Christian community. Although some may argue that using an embryo for medicine is not murder, therapeutic cloning create embryos (the very first stage of humanness) for the sole purpose of harvesting the stem cells, thus ending the budding life of said embryo. This process certainly reflects a form of killing, even if it is only the destruction of an incredibly early human form. Additionally, taking advantage of human embryos disobeys Jesus command to love one another (NIV Bible, John 13:34). Grandiose Narcissism Facebook is a mirror and Twitter is a megaphone, according to a new University of Michigan (2013) study exploring how social media reflect and amplify the culture s growing levels of narcissism. Dr. Twenge of San Diego State University studied more than 16,400 students who took the Narcissistic Personality Inventory between 1982 and 2006. In 1982, only a third of the students scored above average on the test. Today that number is over 65%. Dr. Twenge warns that narcissists lack empathy, overreact to criticism, and favor themselves over others. They are incapable of cheering anyone else s success. Ultimately, they led miserable lives because they cannot form and maintain healthy relationships. (Aspen Education, 2011) Today s generation or the millenial generation has been well known for being the narcissistic generation. The term Narcissistic was coined from the story of Narcissus in Greek Mythology(Karrenbrock, 2012) Narcissus loved himself too much. The Millenial generation had dedicated a lot of contribution to this because of loving oneself too much like Narcissus. This gave way to Narcissism. There are two kinds of narcissism: the vulnerable narcissism and the grandiose narcissism. This study focused on grandiose narcissism or grandiosity. The test lasts up to 18 days, with the poor animals eyelids held open with a clip. Many of the rabbits end up with broken necks trying to escape from terrifying pain. First, it is unreasonable to keep the product in their eye that long. Not even a child would keep a product in their eye that long. The whole experiment was unnecessary to do. The eye tissue of a rabbit is very different from a human eye tissue. The pain they go through had no benefits. A final reason why animal testing is pointless is that there is no law saying that it is necessary to test any product on animals. Why make an animal suffer when there is no need? There are alternatives for animal testing that would have better results for humans, and it would not be involved in any animal unkindness. Why do companies not realize that they do not have to experiment on innocent animals? No animal should have to suffer for an unreasonable cause. • 45. The First English Dictionary By Samuel Johnson Lexicography is a historic practice which has existed for centuries. It is the practice and process of binding an entire lexicon into a single, readable text. This is a formidable task to undertake. The original definition of lexicon is as follows: A dictionary; a book teaching the signification of words (Johnson, 233). The public uses dictionaries as guidebooks for meaningful speech and discourse. Those who task themselves with creating these texts are called lexicographers. The first English dictionarywas written by Samuel Johnson in 1755. Johnson shared his views of lexicographers in his preface to A Dictionary of the English Language : Among these unhappy mortals is the writer of dictionaries; whom mankind have considered, not as the pupil, but the slave of science, the pioneer of literature, doomed only to remove rubbish and clear obstructions from the path of Learning and Genius, who press forward to conquest and glory, without bestowing a smile on the humble drudge that facilitates their progress. Every other authour may aspire to praise; the lexicographer can only hope to escape reproach, and even this negative recompense has been yet granted to very few (Johnson, 3). Johnson s somewhat dismal description of the pains lexicographers must undergo is very telling of the innate stress and responsibility of dictionary making. They are held accountable for the definitions and usage rules of an entire language; this is a respectable undertaking. The process of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The past might be crystallized now in textbooks, but the people of the past did not have the future at their grasp to evaluate. The abridgement between time periods and movements are not times that we can consider as straight forward progressions, but times in their own right and merit. The luxury of looking back into the past is a convenience that allows the historian, student, or teacher to read into the times, but that convenience also draws lines where causes and effects were not as simple. The tendency to patch the new research into the old story even when the research in detail has altered the bearings of the whole subject is an effect of the convenience and discredits the past with comparisons to the present. The past is also held to a standard that keeps the present wondering on how this preceded it. When studying the past it is desirable to see one s time as superior and one that is pioneering the mantle of progress, but this is not so when the direction that follows is not a desired one such as Snow s description of the sciences where if the scientists have the future in their bones, then the traditional culture responds by wishing the future did not exist. Managing relationships and foreign policy are key elements in Canadian foreign policy. These relationships and policies have taken many different shapes and forms as expected, and thus, the history of Canadian foreign relations is a significant part of Canadas identity as a nation today. In particular, one aspect that is often analyzed on this topic is the how the Americans failed to conquer Canada. One can only imagine how different Canada would be if certain battles favoured the Americans. It is evident, that the Americans failure to conquer Canada was a result of poor war tactics and military conduct at crucial points in time. The Americans were not fully prepared to conquer Canada as a whole, and underestimated the Canadians in terms of their war capabilities, loyalty and readiness for war. The Americans also naively believed they could take advantage and attack the British during the American Revolution. An important period to consider is 1775 1783 where crucial battles and victories emerged for Canada against the Americans. In December of 1975, the Americans decided to attack Quebec, what is known and referred to as the Battle of Quebec in the American Revolutionary War. The purpose or motive of the invasion was to incorporate Quebec into the thirteen colonies. This would ultimately prove to be a failure for the Americans, which is discussed ... (Robinson) In a gist, pluralism argues that, fundamentally, there is a single reality but it may present a different aspect of that reality. Before evaluating whether there is an existing relationship between the brain and the mind, there should be an explanation of what the mind is. One answer to the concept of the mind is that it causes a conscious experience and that it is a program or, wholly a system that monitors behavior. To break it down more simply, the mind can be defined as consciousness. Consciousness can, most obviously, be defined as the awareness of the things happening around us as well as the awareness that we exist. If we come to an assumption that the mind is a conscious happening, does mind control brain or is mind the result of what the brain is processing? Studies of the cognitive mind have gone so far as to argue that consciousness may arise from cellular or sub cellular level of organization rather than, what is scientifically assumed, nerve circuitry. The expansion of Christianity begins with the adherents of Jesus Christ and ended with the premature demise of many of the disciples. In the centuries following the disciples, many missionaries were faced with percussion and death as the gospel was proclaimed. As missionary expansion occurs throughout the centuries, often times facing trial and difficulty, the question comes up; is the capital cost of missionary expansion worth the monetary value? This paper will highlight many trials that have been faced by three missionaries in particular and explain often by the words of these missionaries why the enormous cost of missionary expansion is worth the cost. The thesis of this paper is: everyone is called to preach the gospel; the calling of the missionary is called to live by faith even when facing difficulty.
