2. What Is Education
Dear College Bound Student,
You are about to embark upon an important journey. You are going to pursue a higher education. To
succeed in attaining a higher education, you must first understand what is education. Everyone
from ancient Greek philosophers to modern day English professors have evaluated the definition
and goal of education. You must gather the knowledge of these humanitarians to understand the
definition education, thereby directing you down the right path towards an enlightening college
experience.
The ancient Greek philosopher Plato describes education in his Allegory of the Cave as a process
of spiritual enlightenment. According to Plato:
If (one) is reluctantly dragged up a steep and rugged
ascent, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Joon was different from other students who had the potential of enlightenment because he put forth
the effort to understand the information he was given in his courses. When a student puts his need
for entertainment and satisfaction aside, and takes the initiative to gain knowledge, he/she allows
the material to form himself/herself into an intellectual. Joon is a prime example of a student who
looks beyond getting a good grade, and focuses his college experience to acquire an education. If
you want to take charge of your college education, you should model after Joon and pursue the
knowledge presented in your classes. You must look beyond the homework and tests as grades, and
perceive them as academic opportunities for you to utilize your understanding of the material. This
is relative to Plato s interpretation of education, where the prisoner made the effort to achieve
knowledge, instead of returning to the cave, and attained spiritual enlightenment. It can then be said

3. Goodnight And Good Luck And The Crucible Comparison
The Crucible and Goodnight and Good Luck are currently relevant due to recent news articles and
television programs that show communism in society today. There are many citizens who undergo
social and political segregation due to differences in culture, political views, ethnicity, etc. In
Goodnight and Good Luck, people would get fired and denied acceptance in society; They were
accused of having a tie with communism, similar to today s society. The reason for communism
existing today, is based upon genderidentity, disability, and race.
To begin, in today s society people are shunned or denied jobs based solely on how they prefer to
be identified as. Different countries have stereotypical qualities; thus, leaving them no option but to
flee their country and come to America. For instance, Many who have fled to the US seeking
protection from torture, sexual violence, and other forms of persecution in their home countries
related to their gender identity or gender expression. This is relevant to The Crucible and today s
society, because women and men are fleeing from America to seek protection from gender identity
discrimination. Like in the movie Goodnight and Good Luck people were leaving the country or
committing suicide to escape their reputation of being a communist. Like in today s society people
are fleeing the country and committing suicide because of rejection. Like in The Crucible they
would get denied if they had any ties with witchcraft or the ... Show more content on

4. Essay on The Place of Scripture in Christian Faith
As part of revivals in Christian faith during 18th century onward three practices evolved into their
own interpretation on the place and authority of Scripture in the Christian faith. The first of these
were the Liberals who viewed themselves as the saviors of a defunct out of date Christianity
(Bingham 149). Their founder, Friedrich Schleiermacher an 18th century pastor, did not view
traditional, authoritative doctrines, creeds and biblical texts as the preeminent sources in theology
(150). Instead the Liberal perspective of Christianityput more emphasis on the doctrines of sin and
grace and less attention on the holiness of the trinity (Kerr 213). Jesuswas viewed as a historical
figure that we can learn from spiritually and the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Neo Orthodoxical view on faith is that it is a step into the unknown, made on the basis of that
which is already known. Faith is neither totally rational nor totally irrational (Lane 270). Following
this is then the concept that knowing all of Christian history or knowledge of the Bible does not
equal faith (270). Those of the Neo Orthodox faith believe that the Bible is the word of God only
in the sense that it witnesses to the past event of God speaking and that God again speaks
through it today (275). Because God speaks throughout the Bible and is the living word it should
be viewed as a whole that spreads the message of Jesus Christ (Kantzer 19). The Neo Orthodox
movement sought to enforce the Bible as the eternal word of God and his only as the guidance for
our walk in faith and a manual of sorts to seek Him and reach heaven.
As each different theological movement evolved and became a form of Christian practice there
followed the good and the bad aspects of each. The Liberalist did well to become a part of society
and distance themselves from the strict and traditional practices of Christianity. Although with this
new adaption of the faith they lost part of the meaning of being a Christian. Liberalist placed more
emphasis on faith and with this they taught the love of God but denied his holy wrath against sin
thus ending with a sentimental concept of love (Lane 271). Because the element of feeling and

6. Advantage And Disadvantage Of Water Bladders
The advantage of using the hydration bladder
Carrying water along with us can be a little tricky in conditions where lightness matters because we
have struggled to find the right balance between a light alternative for water bottles and a medium
to keep it durable enough to take a beating in the tough conditions outside. This is what helped in
developing the ultimate light and durable outdoor kit for carrying water easily.
The development aided the creation of the first ever hydration water bladder which is one of the
best ways through which one can easily carry a good amount of water while on the go. This
bladder consists of a tough exterior which is designed to take a lot of impacts as well as withstand

8. Analysis Of The Stranger Beside Me By Ann Rule
The stranger beside me was written by Ann Rule and was published in 1980. Ann Rule is a true
crime written who was born October 22nd 1931 and died at age 83 in July 26th 2015. This book
is about her time working on a late night shift at a suicide hotline service in her adopted homeland
in Seattle, with a co worker, Ted Bundy.
Ann Rule was a police officer in Seattle. Her job at the police department consisted of
documenting all the homicide cases. She has four children and was on the verge of being
divorced. Around this period she started to volunteer at a suicide crisis hotline in Capitol Hill. She
had then became friends with a young man named, Ted Bundy, who was her colleague. After every
shift, Ted would walk Ann to her car to ensure... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ann was to the first to turn in Ted s name as a likely suspect after she had seen a sketch and had
heard a description of the vehicle that had been reported. Although many people had noticed the
similarities between the suspect and Ted Bundy they still ended up taking it as a joke.
However, even though Ann was the one to turn his name in, she still maintained their friendship
and after his trail she still refused to believe it was actually him who had committed all those
crimes. Years throughout his jail time, Rule still kept in contact with him and sent him money, still
hoping that it would all be a big mix up.
Nearer to the middle of the book, it comes to a point in Bundy s life where it describes his first
imprisonment for crimes he had committed in Colorado and Utah. He managed to break out of
prison twice however, the horrific crimes he had committed in Florida such as the murder of 12 year
old Kimberly Leach, would lead to him being executed. Ann s narratives of Bundy s escapes are
written in a sinister way which can also come across as darkly amusing in some parts. Ann retells
the scenes like a police report but spices it up in little details from eye witness accounts and the
lives of the victims to create a chilling effect. She goes into effective detail about the Chi Omega
Murders, the sexual assault at an apartment nearby on that exact night and the murder of Kimberly

9. Types Of Treatment For Anxiety Disorders
Introduction Anxiety disorders are distressing, and impairing conditions, associated with significant
social costs (Palazzo, Altamura, Stein, Baldwin, 2014). There are many different types of treatment
for anxiety disorders. Some are more effective than others. The studies within this paper will further
tell us about anxiety disorder, different types of treatments, and treatment effectiveness. The
Purpose of the Studies The purpose of the study by Palazzo, Altamura, Stein, and Baldwin (2014)
was to find published literature on health literacy about psychotropic medications. The study also
includes some difference between public beliefs and clinicians opinions. It is said that anxiety
symptoms and disorders often lead to the development of other mental and physical disorders. It
was proved that mental literacy is effective in encouraging a help seeking attitude. Unfortunately
little is known about how to enhance knowledge about psychotropic medications. Depression and
an anxiety disorder in young patients and in clinicians opinions showed that there are difference
between public beliefs and clinicians opinions. Norton, Abbott, Norberg, and Hunt (2015) studied
mindfulness and acceptance based treatments for social anxiety disorders. The advancement of
mindfulness and acceptance has been associated with psychological supplementary wellbeing.
Individuals avoid or endure situations with intense anxiety, which leads to impairment in life
functioning.

Outsourcing of Aviation Maintenance Practices and the Effects of Globalization

Embry Riddle Aeronautical University Worldwide
May 16, 2016 Abstract
Within the aviation industry outsourced maintenance practices have become increasingly more
prevalent to maintain current assets. There is generally three processes currently being utilized by
the airline industry: outsourcing specific maintenance needs, in house operations, and lastly, a
hybrid approach, which entails a combination of outsourcing and in house. How these are applied
and to what extent are driven by each company and their own unique needs. This paper compares
and contrasts the advantages and disadvantages of outsourcing maintenance practices as well as the
effects of globalization on the airline industry. Outsourcing of Aviation Maintenance Practices and
the Effects of Globalization
Outsourcing is defined as the process utilized when a company decides to subcontract its business
processes or functions to another company; therefore, instead of hiring employees to perform a
task, the company (outsourcer) enters into an outsourcing arrangement with another firm to provide
these services under contract for a certain price and period (Motiwalla Thompson, 2012, p.268).
This paper expands on the notions of outsourcing and the effects it has had on the airline industry
by briefly discussing the advantages and disadvantages associated with outsourcing and the effects
of globalization on the

Seymour attempts to rid his family of the superficial American dream with The trees. That business

All those whom Seymour knows Muriel and her family, the psychiatrist, and Sybil s mother reflect
the oppressive adult world where true value is lost. On the contrary, the innocence and value is
still visible and pure within children. Salinger uses a young Sybil to symbolize the human
condition for Seymour. By speaking with Sybil, Seymour reconnects to the innocent, childlike
state, but this is short lived for when she leaves him, he is forced to submerge himself back into
Muriel s superficial life. Though briefly bringing Seymour hope and happiness, Sybil already
resembles the tarnishing spirit of man after she returns to the real world of superficial paradise from
the imaginative dream Seymour and her have established: Goodbye, said Sybil, and ran without

like the sibyls of old, she is the unconscious oracle through whom prophecy is revealed, the
instrument of truth; what she reveals to Seymour is the finality of that unbridgeable gap between
human aspiration and human possibility. Seymour s suicide is his summing up (Lane). In the end,
Seymour s search for opportunity and innocence proves futile and his final attempt for true bliss or
nirvana imminent. Salinger often associates the phoniness of adulthood and materialism with the
constant complication of true communication. For the motif of

Re: Propensity Evidence in Sexual Assault/Child Molestation Cases
Dear Judge Wilner:
As Vice Chair of the House Judiciary Committee, I am writing to request that the Rules Committee
establish a rule to allow for the admissibility of certain evidence of similar behavior by the
defendant in sexual assault and child molestation cases. The adoption of such a rule will effectively
end the current disunion between the Federal Rules of Evidence and the Maryland Rules of
Evidence.
As you know, under Maryland Rule 5 404(b), evidence of prior crimes may be admitted to show
some special relevance to the issues in the present case in very limited factual scenarios. The
evidence may not be used to show that the accused is a bad person but it should be permitted to
illustrate (1) the defendant s motive to commit the crime, (2) the defendant s intent to commit the
crime, (3) that the defendant engaged in a common scheme or plan to achieve an overarching
criminal enterprise, (4) that the defendant was, in fact, the person who committed the crime, (5)
and that there was a lack of mistake or accident on the part of the defendant when the crime was
committed. With the adoption of Rule 5 404(b), came the growing list of exceptions. The
exceptions specifically listed in the rule are not a laundry list of exceptions; they are a

20. Givaudan Flavors
PROC 5830 Pricing
Case Study Title: Givaudan Flavors
1. Major Facts / Major Problems: * Givaudan is a major supplier of flavors to Tastyco, one of
Givaudan s largest customers. * Geoff Morales has been the Tastyco account manager for three
years, during which Geoff has increasingly grown volume and returned large profits for
Givaudan. Geoff has not had to compete with other flavor suppliers and has been able to charge
Tastyco high prices for both new and existing flavors. * Givaudan s R amp;D team has been
working directly with the R amp;D team at Tastyco in a number of technical areas, including
conducting Flavor 101 training. * Tastyco has a new Purchasing Manager Susan Challis who
recently contacted Geoff ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
* Geoff presents these issues to his boss, Michael Alpharo, and suggests a price reduction on most
of the existing flavors by 25%. Michael rejects a price reduction by explaining that while there is
profit on variable costs, the fixed costs of manufacturing sites and the expertise of flavorists still
needs to be covered. He also points out the investment in technical innovations and flavors library
which shouldn t be given away for free. * Michael asks Geoff to put together some options to allow
Givaudan to continue working profitably with Tastyco. To fully understand the valuepresented,
Geoff schedules meetings with three Tastyco executives Jack Collins, Rick Miller, and Claire
Hillman to realize the true value Givaudan offers to Tastyco.
2. Possible Solutions: For the purposes of these solutions, I assume the conversations with the
three Tastyco executives Jack Collins, Rick Miller, and Claire Hillman have all taken place and
have provided some insight into the perceived value of Givaudan at Tastyco. The solutions
proposed below may be presented to Geoff s boss as potential paths forward.
Solution A: Supported by feedback and perhaps direct inaction from the from the Tastyco
executives, Geoff could develop a presentation that justifies the differential value provided by

The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People
The book The 7 Habits Of Highly Effective People is a really interesting book. This makes you
think about how you are as a person and wonders if you are doing things right or if you are even
doing anything about it. It makes you think about whether or not you are an effective person. The
seven habits gives you a different perspective about life, your relationship with others, and a deeper
understanding on what it really means to be an effective and proactive person. Applying the
perspectives and habits into your life will really change you as a person. As a manager, employee,

I am not only trying to change myself on the inside but I also have to change myself on the outside.
Covey (2004) discusses about the four dimensions of renewal that include: the physical, mental,
spiritual, and social/emotional dimensions (p. 300). It is cleansing my spiritual dimension by
meditating with peace or with God, or just rethinking about what my values and goals are in life.
It is renewing my physical dimension by eating the right foods, working out, and taking care of
my body. It is continuing to learn new things and being open to new ideas to renew my mental
dimension. Lastly, it is communicating effectively, synergizing, and creating relationships with
people to enhance my social/emotional dimension. Renewing myself can change my perspective
on life, how I perform at work and at school. It can change my attitude and my confidence in
myself. However, I need to work on the four dimensions in a balanced way. I must retain balance
and make sure that I am working on the renewal of the four dimensions because if I do not have

23. Similarities Between Abraham Lincoln And Abraham Lincoln
During the Civil War era, Abraham Lincoln and Frederick Douglas were two figures that
changed America forever. They became two of the most influential people of their time. Through
their powerful and motivating speeches, they were able to change the minds of Americans and
help to improve society and the welfare of the people. Douglas fought for black civil rights
through compelling speeches, while Lincoln spoke more calmly and peacefully for unity with the
Confederate states. Both men had very different goals but had the same motivation to achieve a
better America for all. Lincoln was born on a farm to a very poor family and had very little
schooling. However, he rose from very humble beginnings to become the 16th president of the
United States shortly before the beginning of the Civil War. His fame comes mostly from leading
the country through the Civil War and changing the thinking of the American people at that time.
He is a self taught lawyer, who was also a shrewd military strategist and savvy leader. Lincoln is
known and recognized for the Emancipation Proclamation. It helped pave the way for the abolition
of slavery. Lincoln was a noble man. He was known as honest Abe when he practiced law. When
he spoke he stood still and kept his hands behind his back. He used his words very cautiously but
spoke with conviction and motivation. He was always very positive, hoping for a reconciliation
between the states. Lincoln s distinctively human and

24. The Key Components Of The Physics Of Basketball
The game of Basketball is a commonly well known sport throughout the world, but many people
do not think about the science portion that has a big role in basketball. There are many key
components in shooting, body movement, where the forces come from to shoot, the potential
energy, and the physics of the shot. Many people only think of basketball as trying to perfect their
jump shot, but usually that is not what the problem is, it is mostly whether or not their eyes and
their arms are pointed towards the hoop. Jumpshot #2 will be most accurate due to the acceleration
the player gets as they are trying to get the shot off therefore gaining more energyand momentum
into the arms and into the ball, making it easier to get the shot off. There are many components
to the physics of the game. The horizontal, and vertical components play a huge part in the
physics of basketball, but both play a different role. The Horizontal component of velocity
remains constant throughout the point in which the player jumps because it is not being affected
by gravity. The Vertical component of velocity can determine how long the basketball player is
airborne. Another key component in the Physics of Basketball is what the ball is made of. Most
sports balls are composed of substances that are made of elasticity. The elasticity of the ball
allows it to go back to its original shape after it has been stretched out or if it comes in contact with
something that makes it lose it s original shape or

25. Language Death Essay
Main Issues: The way in which our world functions today is a result of colonialization. Language
death and linguistic endangerment is woven with colonialization and the history of oppression
toward indigenous communities. We cannot speak of language death without first acknowledging
the speakers and the systematic oppression that indigenous communities continue struggling to
resist. In present time languageshifts due to economic incentiveof hegemony and the mediating role
of language ideologies are two of the most important causes of language death. Language shift and
language ideologies that ultimately cause language death are current consequences of
colonialization. The death of a language has both of linguistic and cultural consequences to the
particular community affected and to the world s diversity as a whole. Languages serve as carries
of cultural knowledge, as identity and verbal art, hence when a language is lost cultural resources,
identity and verbal art are lost. One of the most important causes of language death is language
shifts due to economic incentives of hegemony. A language shift is when people adopt the language
of the hegemonic society replacing their mother tongue in both their personal and professional lives
(Mithum 1998:182). The shift of language is motivated by the hope for economic prosper as
hegemonic languages like English and French dominate the economic market place. This language
shift is also understood through the terms of

Human consumption is depleting the Earth s natural resources and impairing the capacity of life
supporting ecosystems. Humans have changed ecosystems more rapidly and extensively over the
past 50 years than during any other period, primarily to meet increasing demands for food, fresh
water, timber, fibre and fuel. Such consumption, together with world populationincreasing from 2.6
billion in 1950 to 6.8 billion in 2009, are major contributors to environmental damage.(Human
population growth and the demographic transition). Strengthening family planning services is
crucial to slowing population growth, now 85 million annually,(Essential Environment, Human
Population, page 118) and limiting population size to 9.2 billion by 2050. Otherwise, birth rates
could remain unchanged, and world population would grow to 11 billion.(Essential Environment,
Human Population,page 120).
Indonesia is the 4th most populated country on the planet, making up 3.49% of the earths
population, behind China, India and US ( World Population). Indonesia s population is expected to
grow to 271. 1 million in 2020 and 305.6 million in 2035, and the question is can the future
Indonesia sustain this demographic burden (Indonesia s population growth: A demographic bonus

27. Identity In Courtroom
Much research has investigated the role of gender (Ehrlich 2006, Feinstein 2001, Montague 2013,
Walters 1994) and gendered language (Chapman 1993, Hublar 2015) in courtrooms, focusing
particularly on witnesses and jurors or written law. Attention has also been paid to the language of
women lawyers and the gendered constructions of their professional identities (Bahm 1993, Bogoch
1999, Cech 2015), especially since the number of women in this profession has increased
considerably in recent times. The assumption in these studies, as is in the present, is that social
identity is not fixed but rather created and constructed, or performed as Butler and others would say,
in the process of communication.
The courtroom, in fact, has been identified as an important place in which power relations and
social identity are constructed, realized and negotiated (Bahm, 1993, Ehrlich 2006, Maley 1994)
and where suspicions and findings of gender inequalities have surfaced repeatedly (Mey, 1985).
Even in the highly regulated form of the courtroom discourse, the shaping of social identity is often
realized through language. Since specific institutional contexts of the discourse tend to legitimate
and prefer certain types of talk over others (Gal, 1995), and in the case of courtrooms ... Show more

First published in 1965, The Crying of Lot 49 is the second novel by American author Thomas

finds herself named the executrix of the estate of Californian real estate mogul, and ex boyfriend,
Pierce Inverarity. In reflecting on their history together, Oedipa recalls how her travels with
Pierce helped her acknowledge, but not overcome, the poignant feeling that she was being held

invisible and nefarious external force. Moreover Oedipa struggles to understand why Pierce would

To assess this vision of an American society heading towards stasis developed in The Crying of Lot
49, one must first discuss the concept of entropy.
Broadly speaking, entropy refers both to the level of disorder and uncertainty in a system. The
concept originates from thermodynamics, where it is used to describe the thermal energy in heat
engine that is unavailable to be converted into work (i.e. transferred through a change in form or
location). The second law of thermodynamics stipulates that within a self contained system like a
heat engine, the aggregate measure of entropy must remain the same or increase over time because
with no external energy inputs, the system s net energy flow gradually subsides as the gaps
between its higher and lower energy particles decrease through the transfer of heat as they interact.
This diminishing gap between particle energy levels, denoted in part by a stabilization in
temperature and phase state (e.g. solid, liquid, or gas), reflects the system s progression towards a
state of thermodynamic equilibrium, or maximum entropy, where particles regress into towards a
uniform set of characteristics and inertness as the net energy flow grows infinitesimal. In moving
towards equilibrium the system also becomes increasingly disordered because in losing their
distinctiveness particles become fungible, rendering attempts to impose order and coherence on the
system by drawing relations and distinctions between

29. Rape And Sexual Violence And Assault And Its Survivors Essay
LITERATURE REVIEW
1.1Introduction
This is a presentation of findings from the literature review with focus on rape and sexual violence
/assault and its survivors. Extensive literature search was conducted on relevant concepts that
include the definition of rape, sexual violence and assault, consequences of rape and sexual violence
/assault, provision of health services. The search looked at developed and developing countries as
well as war stricken settings. Therefore, the aim was to understand the burden of rape and sexual
violence, its consequences and provision of health services for survivors and constitutional
narrative relating to rape and sexual violence.
1.2Rape and sexual violence burden
Rape and sexual violence/assault against humankind are among the most pervasive forms of
violence. High prevalence of sexual violence was initially reported in research from Europe and
Northern America. However, other continents are growingly reporting alarming prevalence of
sexual violence. Based on the World Health Organization s (2005) report on multi country study of
women s health and domestic violence against women, approximately 6% to 59% of women
globally report forced or attempted sexual intercourse (by partners or non partners) in their lifetime.
While much research has focused on sexual violence against women and children, various studies
have since reported on sexual violence against men.(1)

These business sell the most by the demand of the consumer, this allows the easiest profit for a
short run. Oligopoly means that an industry is dominated by a small number of sellers with market
power. They can limit and discount competition. A good example are the cell phone companies
such as Verizon or Sprint. They are their own competition and the government only regulates them
but does not intervene with their sales practices. Monopoly markets used to be the way of the past.
Companies had only one provider who offers a good or a service. Monopolies have no one to
compete against nor did it allow others to get in the competition race with its product. As a
monopoly the company can set price, and who to sell it to. It does not allow others to emulate
what it sells. The monopolies don t have competitors so they mostly maintain their customers. The
National Football League is somewhat an example. They have exclusive rights to sell goods, they
have no competition and most of the products sold are solemnly offered by or through them. If any
other business uses their logo they must pay a fee.
There is an Army base in Fort Lee Virginia. Although it is believed to belong to the U.S
government, the agencies departments and firms that well work within it are structured as markets
which provide for the city. It belong to a monopoly but it can also be considered to operate as an

Another important thing learned from the documentary film that I would like to outline here is that

and central idea on the ways in which law enforcement agencies develop their work approach,
perceptions and actions that they take against people involved in drugs and the overall decision

Ritualistic in their worship, imaginative in their art, they competed in physical contests and

Due to flourishing trade across the English Channel with the Roman empire, their merchants and

Fig.1 shows Iceni silver coin from hoard, AD 61. During the revolt there were large issues of
Iceni silver coins, some eventually buried in caches containing hundreds of examples. This silver

Near the end of this period, following the Roman invasion of Britain under Claudius in AD 43,

however, the Roman administrators in Britain made the Iceni a subject population. The Roman

Abstract With the expansion in the field of computers and highly technically advanced
communication mediums like internet there is a necessity to secure the transmission of data. The
information that is transmitted over the internet is a highly sensitive and critical information which
needs to be protected from adversaries, hackers, and eavesdroppers etc. who bypass the existing
security and perform dangerous actions. Cryptographyis the art and science of keeping the data
transfer secure from adversaries, hackers and eavesdroppers. Cryptography and its algorithm forms
one of the essential components to the security mechanisms in order to safeguard the data
transmissions and data storage. Without the use of cryptography the emails and information can be
intercepted without any authorized access.
After researching academic papers related to cryptography I understand the basic working of
DES algorithm and the cracking of the DES algorithm by brute force technology. I would like to
explore the cryptographic algorithms, the flaws associated with the algorithm. In this paper, I will

For a long time, only one actor was used, and often times the play s author himself would
perform. However, probably due to demand on a single actor s physique and voice, two actors
were introduced. Sophocles finally introduced a third actor, but three was the most Greek plays
ever employed (Ley 25). Reminiscent of the dithyrambs from which they originated, Greek plays
included a chorus of anywhere from twelve to twenty four members who would provide poetic
interludes and narrations (Ley 22).
Theatric spectacle in Greece was not an everyday commodity. In fact, plays were only performed
once a year, at the Dionysia (Knox xx). For each of three days, sunrise to sunset, playgoers
would sit through three tragedies, a more lighthearted and whimsical satyr play, and a comedy.
The tragedies and the satyr play of the day would all be by the same poet, while the comedy was
by a different playwright (Knox xx). At the conclusion of the festival, awards would be given to
the tragedians by a panel of judges. Historians have no record on whether or not one of Simon
Cowell s early ancestors was on the panel.
Said to have often been awarded first prize, sometimes second, but never third in the Dionysia,
Sophocles is one of the most renowned and influential playwrights of not only his time, but of all

Dear reader,
In preparing to write this analysis, I pondered on how I could exploit each rhetorical analysis within
my advertisement. Understanding these devices enables me to then structure and organize my
arguments around this idea. In order to get started with my analysis I first pondered what is the
thesis, and what is the overall argument the WWF (World Wildlife) organization presents with
having a Bluefin Tuna with the face of a panda. As I kept evaluating the advertisement other
questions came to mind such as who is their target audience and why do they arrange the ad by
presenting it with a close up shot of a Bluefin Tuna with the face of a panda leading a school of
fish. There s also a question at the bottom right corner of the ad to get their point across asking
would you care more if it were a panda .
I found that the key to answering those questions is understanding why the organization chooses
to present the ad the way they does tying it in with their quote. They relate the extinction of the
two animals, making the reader feel guilty because they understand the inverse relationship of
sympathy towards the two animals the world has. Guilt is one of the stronger human emotions,
and the organization realize that, and use it to get people to care. On top of making the reader
feel guilty, all of the colors in the ad are dark and gray based which gives a sad and gloomy
ambience, and contributes greatly to the guilt trip conveyed to the reader.

CW s were already banned before WW1 in the 1899 Hague Convention Respecting the Laws and
Customs and War on Land. The Hague convention banded poison and poisoned weapons. Trench
warfare quickly became the main form of warfare, this combined with machine guns being
introduced, lead to a stalemate. German High Commanders decided that they needed to find
something to gain more land and get out of the stalemate. The first time Germany decided to use
chemical weapons they used Xylyl Bromide against Russia. The Germans filled explosive shells
with the chemical at russian lines with almost zero effect due to the chemical not vaporizing in the
sub zero temperatures. The german scientist responsible for most of germany s chemical weapons
advancement was Fritz Haber. Haber had the idea to use chlorine to sweep out the trenches. They
planned to release the gas from canisters and use the wind to carry the gas toward enemy
trenches. (move description of blister agents here) They carried out this plan in April 22, 1915 at
the Ypres Salient, releasing almost 170 tons of chlorine. The chlorine had devastating effects
against the French troops, thousands of soldiers died. Britain shortly created a chemical weapons
division named Porton Down. British scientist quickly designed a gas helmets that had great
success in protecting against the Chlorine. Phosgene then started to be used in the battlefield.
Phosgene is very hard to detect as it is odourless and colourless. Phosgene had annoying effects
immediately after exposure but also had more lethal effect up to 48 hours after exposure, such as
difficulty breathing, coughing up white and pink fluid, low blood pressure, and heart failure.
Chemical weapons advancements continued at a fast past and new gases were constantly being

41. Warpaint Lord Of The Flies Quote Analysis
The Power Of The Unknown
In Lord Of The Flies, the power of the warpaint, and the beast give jack great command over the
other children Do you remember Halloween when you were little? I do. I remember putting on a
mask and feeling powerful and confident. I think the same thing happens with Jack and his war
paint transition. War paint gives Jack power. In the novel, as soon as Jack changes his face using
war paint, many members of Ralph s tribe step up to follow jack in his new tribe. Without war
paint Ralph seems to just be a figurehead of a leader. He is the shell of what was the chief. Jack is
now the new leader because of his new instilled confidence.Even though Jack may not actually
have the job of leader but, he is already the leader ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If you remember earlier in the book, Jack was told by Ralph to keep the signal fire burning. But
instead of thinking of the whole group like a good chief would, He only thought about himself
and what he wanted to do. Jack checked, vaguely irritated by this irrelevance but too happy to let
it worry him. (Golding 69). This quote helps show that Jack is not a good leader. He cares more
about what he wants than what the whole group wants making him the most irresponsible
character in the book. With Ralph actually being the most responsible character in the book ,He
is definitely the rightful chief but as we later learn, the right chief doesn t always get picked.
Another example of Jack not being responsible as a leader was when the circle chant took place.
All at once, Robert was screaming and struggling with the strength of frenzy. Jack had him by
the hair and was brandishing his knife. Behind him was Roger, fighting to get close. The chant
rose ritually, as at the last moment of a dance or a hunt. (Golding 114). This quote explains that
if Jack were a proper leader he would not have let poor Robert almost get killed. Jack didn t even try
to stop the feeding frenzy that was the hunters. In conclusion, with Jack s new power He does not
take responsibility and is not a proper leader and is a great danger to many of the young people on

43. The Powerful Roles Of Adolf Hitler And Joseph Hitler
If you can abuse your power, you have too much. Marty Rubin, a Floridian writer, once said
(Keefe, 2009). The abundance of power is very dangerous when placed in the wrong hands.
During World War II and the Holocaust, the world existed at its weakest and most vulnerable
point. Leaders around the world struggled for power like boxers in a ring. Adolf Hitlerand Joseph
Stalinboth reigned as ruthless leaders due to their forceful beliefs, vigorous characteristics, and their
innovative military strategies.
Adolf Hitler always had a fascination with power in both the military and political world. After
France defeated Germany to end World War IHitler accepted a job in Munich as an army political
agent due to an injury that prevented him from fighting. Hitler stood out to the German s
Worker s party and, in 1920, received a promotion to lead the party s publicity. He strived to
further his title and, in the same year, he gained his second promotion to National sozialistische
Deautsche Arbeiterpartei (Nazi). As word spread of the thriving party, Munich became home to
meetings for retired soldiers of the Freikorps, which later influenced many of men to join the
Nazi party. The Freikorps was created for soldiers from WWI who did not want to return to their
lives as it was before serving. Hitler wanted to expand the Nazi party so he gathered his soldiers to
invade Munich. After their mission failed miserably, Hitler served time in prison for his act of
treason. Spending nine
