Matthew plans to create a magazine cover and double page spread using Photoshop for this project. While he is positive about using Photoshop, which plays to his strengths, he is not looking forward to writing the article. He will create a mind map, mood board, and schedule. The mood board will influence the final product by using artwork as the centerpiece and incorporating text in the foreground and background with bright colors and subtle details. 2. Initial Reaction
• My first thoughts on coming into this project are quite
positive, given the set brief to create a magazine cover
and page spread using within photoshop – which can
ultimately play to some of my strengths in media...
• In this, I'm hoping that it could be possible to produce
some artwork in this – to later transform into a front
cover or include a creatively designed page spread.
• However, coming to the double page spread, I'm not
looking forward to writing/creating an article for this
project – as is a potential weakness.

Is there any repetition in the images you have collected? Repeated
colours/images styles/fonts/tone/mood
• Colours: A lot of the artwork uses bright colours over the cut composited
images original colours.
• Style: In the centre of the artwork pieces the tend you use a selection of either
main characters – occasionally with a villain/monster... With a lot of the
magazine covers I'd liked, they used artwork as the base – with typography.
• Tones: Towards a lot of the edges and/or boarders of the pieces, they tend to
slowly fade to black or darker tone.
How will your mood board influence your final product?
• In doing my mood board, I very much liked the concept of using a bit of
artwork as the centre piece of both my front cover and my double page
spread.
• On top of this, I also like the text alternating both in the foreground and
background of the piece.
• From a lot of the artwork I looked at I was drawn into the bright colours and
the subtle details (such as the addition of space faded into the piece.)
