INTRODUCTION
Oral care products are products which is use to clean oral cavity or remove debris,
polish the teeth and maintain oral hygiene. Oral care products are use in various oral
diseases like bleeding gums and sensitive teeth etc.
Various oral care product are present in market of example Tooth paste, Mouth
wash or detrifises.
DISEASES RELATED TO ORAL CAVITY
 Plaque :- plaque is sticky, colorless film of sugar and
bacteria that constantly form our teeth. It is mainly
responsible for various oral diseases like cavities,
gum diseases, tartar, tooth sensitivity, dental stain etc.
 Tooth Sensitivity:- It is a condition in which patient
feel episode of localized pain when subjected to various
stimuli hot and cold drinks, food, brushing etc.
 Gum diseases :- it also known as periodontal
disease that affect the bone and supporting tissue
of teeth which characterized by formation of
pocket between teeth and gums leads to loss of teeth.
 Dental caries :- it damages teeth structure and it also
called as tooth decay or cavities. It cause tooth pain
tooth decay and tooth loss. Dental caries caused by acid
production by bacteria digesting sugar present in plaque.
These acid are dissolve in enamel and causing tooth decay.
These disease treated by removing the damaged part and
filling hole by using restorative material.
TOOTHPASTE
 Toothpaste is a gel or paste dentifrice used with a toothbrush as an accessory to clean and maintain the
aesthetics and health of the teeth.
Ingredient :-
Abrasive :- It is used remove to debris and residual stains of the teeth & to polish the teeth surface.
Example :- dibasic calcium phosphate , tricalcium phosphate
Detergent or other foaming material :- It is add in toothpaste for their cleansing action these material
have lower surface tension, they promoting penetration of paste and help in remove of deposits and
debris. Example:- sodium lauryl sulphate.
Humectant :- It is used in toothpaste for prevent their drying out. Example :- Glycerin propylene glycol
sorbitol solution.
Binding Agent :- Example:- gum tragacanth, carboxy methylcellulose
Sweetening and flavoring agent :- saccharin sodium
Use:- used to remove plaque from teeth , used to prevention from cavities, whitening of teeth
TYPES OF TOOTHPASTE
1. Toothpaste for bleeding gums:- eg- parodontax
2. Cavity protection toothpaste:- eg- Colgate cavity protection
3. Tooth whitening toothpaste:- eg- Colgate optical white
4. Sensitivity toothpaste:- eg- Colgate sensitive, Sensodyne
5. Fresh breath toothpaste:- eg- Colgate max fresh
6. Tartar control toothpaste:- eg- Colgate tartar protection
MOUTHWASH
Mouthwash is colored, clear solution that is aimed to refresh the breath by swishing the product around the mouth
followed by spitting it out. It contain both active and inactive ingredient.
Active ingredient :- Antibacterial, Anticavity, anti-hypersensitivity, Anti-plaque, Anti-tartar and whitening agent.
Inactive ingredient:- solvent, humectant, preservative, astringent, surfactant,
Flavoring agent, sweetening agent, colorant.
Use :- Reducing oral infection
