Special Education Personal Statement
Personal Statement A teacher affects eternity; he can never tell where his influence stops. Henry B.
Adams. For as long as I can remember, I have always wanted to play a big part in children s
education, which is why I have decided to enroll for an education course. I believe that educators have
a lifelong impact on their students and on the development of resilience. Thus, I aspire to inculcate my
love for learning into the next generation, by influencing and inspiring children all through their
formal education.
I have distinctly applied for Special Needs Education because special education has always been what
s near and dear to me in the field of education. Being a special education teacher would be an
inevitably rewarding job, in which I get to watch my students grow, as I celebrate their small
breakthroughs and victories with them. These small breakthroughs and victories will improve over
time and turn into giant leaps, which will leave a lasting impact and ultimately change the child s life.
Beyond just educating children with special needs, I aspire to educate the public about children with
special needs and special education. By doing so, I hope to remove any uncertainty and fear the public
has on this group of children. Not only do I want to impart knowledge on these special children, I also
want to advocate for them, which is something that goes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

interest in the field. I also had the opportunity to study a handful of art and humanities subjects, which

the knowledge gained from my ICT and Multimedia subject in creating a state of the art medium apt

Not Guilty In Plato s Apology
In his influential dialogue Apology , Plato employs Socrates pleading not guilty to his allegations in
his trial to argue that the men deemed as wise, are actually not as wise as they appear to be. Searching
further into this text will reveal how Plato intended for Apology to have a deeper meaning. Socrates
questions the wise politicians, the philosophers, and the crafters of their knowledge and wisdom to
discover that they themselves do not comprehend what their work is about. In Apology Socrates states
When I began to talk with him, I could not help thinking, that he was not really wise, although he was
thought wise by many, and still wiser by himself; and thereupon I tried to explain to him that he
thought himself wise, but was not really

Opioid Persuasive Essay
It s impossible to fix a leaking faucet without fixing the pipes first. You can try to mop up the water,
but the problem won t go away until the leak is stopped at the source. Likewise, the current opioid
epidemic that is taking over lives will not come to an end unless the source unneeded opioid
prescriptions for teens is stopped. A plethora of teens receive prescriptions for trivial injuries, but
doctors over prescribing these medications can put teens on the road to a full blown addiction. The
current opioid epidemic is a problem that plagues the lives of thousands of people every day, and
Senator Kirsten Gillibrand is taking steps to end the problem.
Opioids are a type of pain medication prescribed in pill form, with the most commonly used opioid
medications being OxyContin and Vicodin (Gholipour). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Opioid pills flood the body with chemicals to give the user pleasure and pain relief (Triffin). To many,
these drugs seem safer than other drugs. However, this is far from the truth. Right now, the opioid
epidemic is the fastest growing drug problem (Volk). Teens young age makes them especially
vulnerable to addiction. John F. Kelly, Ph.D, associate professor of psychiatry in addiction medicine at
Harvard Medical School explains, The brain is in a critical and vulnerable period of growth during
adolescence. Kelly added that early exposure to drug misuse increases your risk of addiction by 5 to
10 times, independent of other factors (Triffin). Simultaneously, studies show that when rewarded,
teens brains have a strong reaction. This, combined with the impulsive nature of the teen brain means
that teens are attracted to thrills. These weaknesses are manipulated by drugs, as observed in animal
research. Young rats tend to work harder than adult rats to get drugs, which implies that the teen brain
is more attracted to drugs. The thrill of taking a drug is pleasing to teens (Teen Brain Vulnerability
Exposed). In fact, When someone takes a painkiller,

False Confessions In The Criminal Justice System
False confessions are a major problem in the Criminal Justice system, since 1989, a total of two
thousand people have been convicted for serious crimes that they did not commit. There are many
causes of false confessions, some including a low IQ and mental illness. Today, people are often
targeted by detectives when being interrogated for committing a crime. As the causes of false
confessions include mental illness and low intelligence quote, therefore leading to false convictions,
there has to be solutions to these issues.
False confessions are disclosures of guilt for a crime in which the confessor does not appear
responsible. Starting off, the Pittsburgh Post claims, Most false interrogations involve assertive
confessions where police ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First off, The Pittsburgh Post bring s up, Statements can be complicated to document due to many
police organizations fail to videotape interrogations (Moushey). This example describes that many
police agencies fail to record the interrogations that they are involved in which causes the cases to be
unsolved for many years. To continue, New York Times claims, Police use a variation of techniques to
receive a certain disclosure, but the techniques used can be hard for the jury to comprehend (Dolan).
This confirmation proves that the techniques used to reveal evidence can not be understood by the
court, therefore, recordings during interrogations are avoided. Moving on, New York Times explains,
Legal authorities claim that the best way to make sure confessions are truthful is to require detectives
to document and record interrogations (Dolan). This quote verifies that it should be essential for
detectives and police to videotape questioning because they may be tricking victims into confessing.
Finally, New York Times mentions, Tape recording could prevent police from doing remarkable
techniques and prevent false convictions (Dolan). This citation clarifies that tape recording could
prevent police from going the extra mile to find someone guilty in their case. Many police break the
law by trying to find a victim guilty and tricking them into falsely confessing to a crime they

Product Design In Daniel Pink s A Whole New Mind
In saying you need to differentiate to survive, Bob Lutz meant that in order to compete in the modern
economy that a company must be capable of producing products faster and cheaper with higher
quality than that of their overseas competitors. If this is our goal how might it be that we can achieve
such a task? In Daniel Pink s work entitled A Whole New Mind, he puts forth several ideas about how
the right brain as it is known in psychology may have the answers.
Design combines technology, cognitive science, human need, and beauty to produce something the
world didn t know it was missing . Assume that all products have the same technology, price,
performance, and features. How would you know which product is better? That s what design does; it
is what differentiates one product from another. It creates utility and significance. For every percent of
sales invested in product design, a company s sales and profits rise by an average of 3 4 percent. My
MAP organization Aldi s thrives on making design choices that will benefit them in the future. They
choose to have all stores exactly the same square footage, minimal brand options, only 6 8 employees,
even multiple bar codes so checking out is quicker, and chose to save on stocking time by keeping
their products in the same boxes they were shipped in. They utilize their costs and that has a huge
significance on customer appreciation. Who doesn t want greater quality at everyday low prices?
We are our stories; context enriched by emotions. We are not set up to understand logic, we are set up
to understand stories. Aldi s wasn t always called Aldi s. It became Aldi s from ALbrecht (brothers last
name) +DIscount = ADLI. Aldi s story begins with two brothers; Karl and Theo Albrecht; from the
mining town of Essen, Germany in 1913. Their mother had a small food store and when they were old
enough they took over the business and expanded to 4 locations. To be able to do this they had to
reduce costs by removing merchandise that were not selling, keep the size of their retail outlets small,
and neither advertise nor sell fresh produce. Once the locations started booming they opened their first
self service store which was a first for Germany. Once they had grown

How Did The Ancient Greeks Contribute To Society
Contributions of the Ancient Greeks The ancient Greeks may have died hundreds of years ago but
they still left a part of them with us. One great contribution is Democracy created by Cleisthenes who
gave them the freedom they needed. Theater another great contribution made by Thespis which are
evident in both Greek and today s society which provides entertainment and creativity. Then there is
the Olympics which were created by the Greeks and allowed any man to compete for honor and fame.
The ancient Greeks have contributed to many things that are we have every day and are still evident in
society today. The contribution of Democracy in Greek society was very large. It allowed Athenian
men of 18 or older to explain their ideas and vote on these said ideas. Now in today s society anyone
who lives in America who is 18 or older to make big choices. But not everyone gets to just take their

Lassa Ward Book Report
I chose to read The Lassa Ward: One Man s Fight Against One of the World s Deadliest Diseases for
the AP Human Geography summer assignment. The Lassa Ward is authored by Ross I. Donaldson,
who received his doctor of medicine and master of public health degrees from the University of
California at Los Angeles. St. Martin s Press, headquartered in New York, NY, published the novel in
2009. Dr. Donaldson s memoir focuses on how he treated Lassa cases in Sierra Leone, in the midst of
an outbreak of the virus during the summer months of 2003. Through explanations of his surroundings
and the ward where he treated his patients, the book addresses the medical need of the region by
describing the primitive condition of medicine occurring in the third world country that is Sierra
Leone. Thus, The Lassa Ward effectively and captivatingly communicates the necessity encompassing
the current medical situation in Sierra Leone through its detailed descriptions and arguments regarding
the culture of the people living there and the region itself. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Donaldson strived to demonstrate that the demand for a revised medical system is a desideratum. The
current environment in Sierra Leone does not compare to that of the United States and other first

supplies that are available are dilapidated and sub par with that of what Dr. Donaldson encountered in
the United States. All of these descriptions that are given in the novel adeptly portrayed the
rudimentary conditions of the medical treatment available to the people of Sierra Leone, and how,

Noah And The Frogs Essay
Despite the fact that several fables and the bible were written in two completely different time periods
they are still are relatable in the sense that one of their main purposes is to teach the individuals
reading or listening to them a moral lesson or a cardinal virtue. The presence of the cardinal virtue
prudence is evident in both Genesis book six, the story of Noah, and the fable Jupiter and the Frogs.
From these stories we are able to distinguish that when prudence is found at just the right amount
characters find themselves in rewarding situations, on the other hand, if too much prudence (vanity) is
retained then punishment tends to follow. The story of Noah and the Frogs are very similar in the

Similarly, as the human race is growing and flourishing, ... the lord saw that the evil of the human
creatures was great on earth (Alter 163). Both Jupiter and God saw it fit to punish their creations for
their despicable behavior by sending things to kill them. However, Jupiter gave his creations an

he was aware that they were indeed selfish he sent the message you rejected what s good in order to

The Massacre of Captain John Gunnison and his Explorers in...
Two events took place in the mid 19th century in the United States that set the stage for a third which
became an historic turning point in American history. The settlement of Mormons in Utah and their
pursuit to establish their own government coupled with explorations to develop the transcontinental
railroad laid the groundwork for the massacre of Captain John Gunnison and his explorers in 1853
which took eight lives. As massacres go, the loss of eight people was not numerically remarkable.
What made the Gunnison Massacre exceptional is that it catapulted into the American conscious. Both
Mormons and American Indians entered the spotlight of American attention, and the resulting outrage

The Corps described the topography, route, buildings and culture of an assigned survey area, made
sketches of routes and distances, noted important observations, and kept a journal of daily movements

surveyors, a geologist, botanist, astronomer, meteorologist and an artist. Transcontinental railroad
After the United States acquired so much more territory, the push for expansion accelerated and
spurred development of an American transcontinental railroad line. The California Gold Rush of 1848
fanned the flames of westward exploration and settlement. One of the biggest challenges was finding
the most suitable route. Businessmen were eager to expand their horizons and capitalize on new
western markets. In 1845, an early proponent of a transcontinental railroad, Asa Whitney, led an
exploratory team along the route he envisioned from Chicago to northern California. As a highly
successful dry goods merchant and locomotive manufacturer in New Rochelle, New York, Whitney
traveled widely to solicit support from other businessmen and politicians. He proposed selling land to
settlers along the route to finance construction. Whitney printed maps and pamphlets and submitted
several proposals to Congress. He was thwarted, however, by southern business interests who opposed
his plan because they would not

The Near Crash Of The Qantas A380
QF32 THE NEAR CRASH OF THE QANTAS A380 OVER SINGAPORE
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The Airbus A380, one of the largest passenger aircraft in the world, made its debut commercial flight
with Singapore Airlines flying from Singapore to Sydney in October 2007. Qantas Flight 32 was the
scheduled passenger flight of the A380 fleet which suffered an uncontained engine rotor failure on
November 4, 2010 and made an emergency landing at Changi Airport.
The UERF was caused by the crack present in the oil feed pipe which developed over a period of time
due to fatigue. The crack grew to a size which allowed the oil in the pipe to be released in the HP/IP
buffer space, during the occurrence flight. There was severe damage caused to the flight. However, the
robust design and structural strength of the jet sustained the damage which might have destroyed the
airlines of the past decade.
The crew members of Qantas displayed excellent skills in managing the incident and the high
standards of piloting culture saved QF32 from a catastrophic crash which enabled Qantas to keep up
the brand name and protect its values of safety of customers . The management decided to ground the
fleet of A380s for further inspection after the incident.
The ATSB carried out a detailed investigation along with Rolls Royce and several other global
agencies. Numerous lapses were identified including the factors which resulted in the manufacture and
release into service of non conforming oil feed pipes and appropriate

Analysis Of From Russia With Love
From Russia With Love (1963), directed by Terence Young is the second film in the James Bond
movie franchise. Sean Connery and Robert Shaw headline the film s actors. This film is a spy thriller
with twists and turns and puts James Bond into a position of entrapment and must use his brains to
escape and get back to England alive. From Russia With Love is a timeless classic through its new
standards of filmmaking and characters. This movie also sets the tone for the rest of the James Bond
series.
The first reason why this film is a classic is because of the introduction of spy gadgets for James
Bond. Bond today is partly known for his use of gadgets to get out of tough situations. This is the first
Bond film that uses these.
When Bond is getting orders to go to Turkey for his mission, he is brought a briefcase that has hidden
knives on the sides and has to be open a different way than normal in order for the opener of the case
not to be sprayed with tear gas. These tools will help him later in the film multiple when he is in the
face of danger.
This scene sets the tone not for just this film but for the many other popular movies of this franchise
through the use of gadgets. A large reason why many people enjoy James Bond is because of
astonishing use of these tools. With help of these gadgets, this movie can be considered a classic
because of the memorable fights in the film.
As with all spy films, there are going to be fight to the death scenes. Although it is predictable who
will win in these films, directors can still make these scenes very suspenseful and exciting. Young
does this exactly in this film with a very memorable fight scene that could be considered one of the
best of all films.
Bond seems to be trapped for good this time when he is in the train car with Donald Grant who was a
gun pointed at Bond. Bond starts talking to Grant and eventually convinces Grant to take the 50 gold
sovereigns. When Grant opens the briefcase, which is given to Bond with spy gadgets, he is met with
a plume of tear gas. This starts the fight as Bond gets up to take the gun. A fight ensues, going across
the small train car and eventually making Bond the winner by killing Grant. The fight however did

Huckleberry Finn, By Samuel Longhorn Clemens
For the task I have been given in this paper, I believe that it is necessary to define the term
quintessential both in my own words and from a dictionary.
In my own words: All encompassing or summarizing
Miriam Webster dictionary however defines the words in two separate instances both applicable to this
paper. They are as follows:
1. (adj.) the essence of a thing while in it s purest and most concentrated form.
2. (adj.) The most typical example or representative.
Huckleberry Finn, written in December of 1884, by Samuel longhorn Clemens (under surname Mark
Twain ) encompasses the life, thoughts and adventures of the 12 year old title character Huckleberry
Huck Finn. Throughout the book Huck struggles with a negative opinion of racism and slavery that is
otherwise not voiced by your everyday American southerner. The book takes place in the southern
Midwest region of America often referred to as America s heartland . There are several other reasons
for Huck Finn to be considered an American quintessential novel, some of which will be discussed in
the following essay such as the themes, character conflicts as well as how the book connects to the
American people as a culture. Also it will be covered, that some educators and parents believe that the
novel should NOT be used in the classroom based on its at times difficult content and demeaning
themes, as well as it s portrayal of some religious and social groups of the time.
One stated theme of this novel often times tied

The use of blue Prussian imported ink seemed to be the first thing that caught Europe s eye. This first
discovery started the wave pf admiration in French artists. Various French artists began collecting his
pieces and began showcasing them as well as imitating his prints in their own works. This caused the
works to gain acclaim and therein his influence elevated the reputation of graphic arts in France.
Based on these artist s collections and clear influence it does appear as though Hokusai unknowingly
bridged the gap of printmaking as a respectable medium for fine artists. I believe this caused a social
change in the perspectives of what their lives actually were when observing the expansive differences
of Hokusai s experience. This new perspective is clearly shown in the adopting of his two dimension

You can actually analyze how your competitors are doing.
If you are competing with somebody on the web, you can go and get their data and understand how

The Expansion Of A Nation State Beyond The World
As Europe climbs into a semi peaceful time, many powers look for a way to expand their names
beyond their claimed territories. Splicing through the 1850 s and beyond European powers spread
through Africa, Australia, China, America, Japan and anywhere they could find a resource to be
exploited. Many great discoveries and advances appeared due to these colonization s and expeditions,
scientifically and historically. Imperialism is the expansion of a nation state beyond their position,
whether it be through military, political or economic powers. This idea spread throughout Europe and

As countries settled in unknown places, learning about the plants, wildlife, and lands made them more
powerful than the countries who did not settle there. They were able to hold that information over their
enemies. Notably, the French are known for their geographical influences in their colonies and
explorations. The French colonization in Mexico is a major area they gained power. The many
explorations and documentation the French scientists massed are invaluable knowledge then and now.
Scientists such as Alexander von Humboldt and Henri de Saussure paved the way for many more to
document the lavish lands of Mexico. However, their work was deterred by off limit areas and
questions of legitimacy in their findings. These geographical advances made it possible for the French
to publish volumes of scholar level information. This, for any country, is an area that can hold much
power. Geographical influences prevailed throughout Africa with many different European powers
claiming her. In the early days of European colonization Africa was seen as a purely territorial and
prestigious land to settle. The idea was to take her before anyone else did. This gave way to much
geographical reasoning for colonization. In the words of historian George N. Sanderson, Until the

European politicians and merchants concerned with the continent. (2008,

S.T.E.M FEAR can be defined as the unpleasant emotions which deter an individual from engaging in
activities in the field of Science, Technology, Engineering or Math. S.T.E.M. fear is believed to be one
of the main causes of the gender disparity seen in STEM careers worldwide. This discrepancy has

Studies show that although women currently account for half the population, their presences in STEM

Essay On Tapestries
Tapestries have been around for centuries; they ve been used as shrouds, blankets, bed curtains, robes
and upholstery. Their biggest value, however, may have always come from simply hanging on the
wall. Tapestries have been energy savers since the first king hung the first pictorial story of his
conquests on the stone that made up his dining hall.
How Tapestries Save Energy.
Tapestries are natural insulators. They help add a dense layer to the wall, forming a stronger barrier
against cold and drafts seeping through. They absorb heat and release it back into the room instead of
letting it seep through the walls and windows, decreasing the need for excess heat and helping to

these are guaranteed conversation starters! Some of the most famous tapestries, Lady and a Unicorn,
or the Tree of Life, have become so popular that finding a reproduction is not hard. Others, such as
obscure religious scenes, may be harder to find.
Why Choose Tapestries to Cover Your Walls?
Tapestries have been used as decoration almost as long as they have been used for drafty halls. They
offered the perfect medium through which to translate events throughout the land. Wars and battles,
meteor showers and historic novelties were all worked in bright colors and annotated with additional
characters; ribald humor and a down to earth across the board manner was designed to deal with the
average man.
This offered monarchs and priests the influence to regulate what news their serfs received, and how it
was taken. As time went by and the art evolved, many things began to be depicted on tapestries.
Simple everyday tasks like harvesting, feeding geese or riding after the hounds were common and
popular. Others included Raphaelite Angels or New Testament

Eric Foner A Short History Of Reconstruction Analysis
Eric Foner s A Short History of Reconstruction is a shortened version of his Reconstruction: America s
Unfinished Revolution, 1863 1877; however, in the shorter version certain broad themes unified the
crucial narrative. His first theme is the midst of the black experience, second theme is to trace the
ways Southern society as a whole was remodeled, third theme is the evolution of racial attitudes and
patterns of race relations, and the fourth theme is the emergence during the Civil War and
Reconstruction. This narration of Reconstruction begins not in 1865, but with the Emancipation
Proclamation of 1863. This was done to stress the importance of the Proclamation in unifying two
major themes, grass roots black activity and the newly empowered national state and to indicate that
Reconstruction was the beginning of a broadened historical process: the adjustment of American
society to the end of slavery. Foner s A Short History of Reconstruction verifies the authors prevailing
leadership in historical revisionism. His extensive knowledge alters the scrutiny of the historical
standpoint, stimulating students and intellectuals to reconsider the assumptions of prominent
reconstruction works from foregoing eras such as those that influenced our understanding of the
Reconstruction era. Furthermore, Foner advises intellectuals to continue to uncover neglected
experiencesof the one of the most phenomenal eras in American history. Foner s text provides a

South Virginia s Coal Industry
The coal industry has helped fuel this nation for 150 years, and coal can be used to heat our homes,
power our economy, and protect our nation for at least another 150 years if we continue to use it. Tim
Murphy. Coal has an interesting history in West Virginia, which has contributed significantly to the
improvement and livelihood of West Virginians since its first discovery, which is now Boone County
in 1742 by Peter Salley, more than a century before West Virginia, became a state. The coal industry
has played a major role in the state s economic, political and community history. The industry has also
been a center of debate and the impact of unfounded criticism, giving rise to battles in the arenas of
labor, environment and safety. Since 1742, West Virginia has provided our nation and the world with
the finest coal found anywhere. As of today, West Virginia s coal miners apply useful and effective
mineral removal technology that makes other countries envy their counterparts around the world. West
Virginia s exports more coal than any other state in the country. West Virginia has more longwall
mining systems than any other state. This leads the nation in underground coal productions and sets
the pace for the rest of the industry in recovery and environment protection. At the same time, West

Software Architecture And Methodology As A Tool For...
ABSTRACT Nowadays, traditional software processes have slowly taken the place of agile software
Processes. This is mostly because of traditional processes have limitations, which holds a slow
modification to quickly changing requirements, and a proclivity to go over cost of project and get late

also briefly describing the Unified Process as well as common elements of the Scrum process model.

These are some reason that traditional processes replace agile processes mainly in small and simple
projects. This is happening because of traditional methods limitations and deficiencies, which includes
a slow adaptation to business requirements changes, and a tendency to go over budget and as well as
behind schedule. The traditional methods also lack in providing improvements in simplicity,
productivity and reliability phenomena s. Despite of these limitations, traditional methods are widely
used by many software developers in projects. Traditional methods are capable to provide high
assurance, predictability, and stability and their nature is structural, straightforward, and
methodological. Agile processes mainly focus on incremental as well as iterative development. Also,
frequent deliveries after each sprints and customer collaboration are key element of Agile. Agile

Overcoming Barriers To Reduce Diversity In The Workplace
To effectively overcome the barriers against diversity in the workplace, first a general understanding
of what diversity is must be developed. Knowing how diversity affects a workplace environment,
advantages and disadvantages of diversity in the workplace, and the legal obstacles that surround both
employers and employees when dealing with diversity and equality are important to understand.
Based on the results from the survey completed with the employees, these topics are a great place to
start in the training.
What is Diversity?
The Business Dictionary defines diversity as Human Resources a mixed workforce that provides a
wide range of abilities, experience, knowledge, and strengths due to its heterogeneity in age,
background, ethnicity, physical abilities, political and religious beliefs, sex, and other attributes.
(Business Dictionary, 2017)
Diversity does not mean race or race relations; the actual meaning of the word diversity is difference.
Differences in thinking styles, values, race, ethnicity, orientation or any aspect of our social identity,
are examples.
Diversity in the Workplace
People with demographic differences working in the same organization make a diverse workforce.
Perceptions affect people s relations in how they communicate and interact with one another. Human
resource professionals must be effective when dealing with organizational issues relating to diversity
in order for those organizations to be successful. Assessing any needs that arise

KRONOS Book Review
An irrefutable quality of a strong leader is an unyielding desire to gain knowledge. Former President
John F. Kennedy himself stated that leadership and learning are indispensable to each other , which
can only further the argument of a necessity for a strong education system to develop a solid base
early in a student s life. Amelia Arcamone Makinano brings forth this debate and discussion in her
book KRONOS: All Devouring Federal Reserve , highlighting the profound implications of the
federal government s grip in the education system. In KRONOS , Amelia Arcamone Makinano wisely
asserts that illiteracy and the lack of education in American public schools has had indirect ties to the

Social Importance Of Oysters
Oysters
An oyster is a bivalve mollusk, found in beds in the shallow waters of all oceans. An oyster s shell is
made up of two valves. The upper one is flat and the lower is convex with multiple outlines and a
rough outer surface. Wild oysters will spend most of their lives attached, except for the free swimming
larval stage. Oysters and the reefs they form provide many ecological, economic, and social benefits.
The health of an oyster bed reflects the overall health of the coastal ecosystem they live in. Not only
are they an important part of the estuarine food web, they also provide an excellent habitat for inshore
marine life, and form important commercial and recreational fishery. Oysters help control erosion
along the shorelines and filter the water they live in. These benefits make them an important species in
the estuary. There are many different species of oysters. Some of these include but are not limited to:
Pacific Oysters, Kumamoto Oysters, Atlantic Oysters, European Flats, and Olympia Oysters. Pacific
Oysters (Crassostrea gigas) are small and sweet. These oysters are the world s most cultivated oysters.
They have more of a sharply pointed shell than the Atlantics or European Flats. Today s Pacific
Oysters are generally named after where they are harvested. Kumamoto Oysters (Crassostrea sikamea)
have been described as small, sweet, and almost nutty. They are characterized by their deep bowl like
shell. Kumamoto Oysters spawn later in the season and in warmer

A Research Study On Drug Testing
When Pharmaceutical companies are trying to develop a new drug they begin the process of a clinical
trial. A clinical trial in drug testing is when researchers test a new drug on live participants and record
information such as side effects and results. Recently, pharmaceutical companies are trying to increase
their profits so they have been outsourcing. Outsourcing is when clinical trials go to a clinical research
organization (CRO), which are big businesses. One crucial step in a clinical trial is informed consent.
The participants must know they are part of a research study, the possible risks, and outcomes. This
information should be presented in a manor in which the individual can understand. However, after
watching the videos this crucial step is sometimes overlooked or not taken seriously during overseas
drug testing. Often times testing is done overseas in areas that are over populated and have a large gap
between the wealthy and the poor. When researchers are conducting the trial they have been known to
just completely skip over this step or they give individuals the information on the clinical trial but the
participants are illiterate and unable to understand any part of it. This is seen as unethical practice.
Ethically, all participants are required to know they are part of a clinical trial and they need to know
all risks and outcomes projected before participating.
When government officials were interviewed about the clinical trials they stated that the

FA1 Debate Draft Taking down the Confederate Flag
The confederate flag, a topic that has been the center of controversy for many years now, is an
emblem of southern pride and heritage to some, while to some it is purely a symbol of hate and
racism. After the shootings in South Carolina, it is clear that the flag should be taken down. Since it
represents white supremacy and inequality and not Southern pride.
The confederate flag, one of the most controversial image of the American culture, was adopted on
May 1, 1863, which was percipated by the issue of slavery. It was initially adopted as the battle flag

Richard The Third King
Richard the third was born in England on Oct 2, 1452. His father was Richard, Duke of York, and his
mother was called Cecily. When Richard s father died, his oldest brother, Edward, became king. King
Edward, who died in 1460, left Edward, Earl of Warwick, as heir to the throne. Edward was only 12
years old so Richard was appointed as Lord Protector until Edward became old enough to claim the
throne. In June of 1483, Ralph Shaa declared that King Edward s marriage to Elizabeth Woodville had
been invalid and therefore their children were illegitimate and could not succeed the throne. Richard
then, by an act of parliament, became king. He ruled from 1483 till his death in August of 1485.

Richard certainly had the means to murder the two brothers. They were both under his control in the

kill the princes. Richard would not have killed them in order to become king, as they were declared to
be illegitimate children of Edward. This would leave Richard as the next heir. Therefore, parliament,
recognizing this, set the crown on Richard in the act called Titulus Regius. Not only did Richard have
no motive to kill the prices, but it also was not in his character to do that. He had always been faithful
to his brother. On April 21, 1483, Richard publicly swore an oath promising to recognize his nephew,

budget for food. Many individuals came to the realization that this is a difficult budget, and does not
meet the nutritional needs for a family. Personally, I could not take the challenge. However, I did set
up a budget plan for what I could spend on food for a week. To begin with, personally, I like to shop at
Aldi. A lot of the foods are knock off brand, and are a few dollars cheaper. For breakfast, I could
purchase a box of cereal for $1.69 2. For lunch, I could purchase a can of soup or noodles for $1. Then
for dinner, I could fry a pack of chicken for $2.29 (Aldi vs. Walmart). With tax added, I could possibly

The Glies In Lord Of The Flies By William Golding
TCA 1 To start off, Golding s purpose is shaped through theme. His purpose is to show people are
evil. According to the passage it says, She was black and pink; and the great bladder of her belly was
fringed with a row of piglets that slept or burrowed and squeaked (Golding 1). This statement shows
that all of the British boys, except Simon, attacks a mother pig who runs in the clearing. Simon
watches all of the boys literally killing the mother pig. This is the climactic part of the novel because
the boys completely lost their innocence. In doing so, the boys find pleasure and it represents no
civilization left. The slaughter of innocence shows that the boys can not go back to civilization.
Another example from the passage states that, Then Jack found the throat and the hot blood spouted
over his hands. The sow collapsed under them and they were heavy and fulfilled upon her. The
butterflies still danced, preoccupied in the center of the clearing (Golding 12). This sentence shows
that all the boys turn into savages and that Jack, the boy that adores hunting and killing just for the fun
of it, influences the boys into enjoying rubbing the blood all over their bodies. The boys kill the
mother pig and simultaneously cheer and laugh. All in all, symbolically, when the boys put the pig s
head on a stick, it represents the darkness and evil within all humanity. The human s actions about
savagery v.s. the order of human civilization. Adding on, Golding s purpose of showing

The Pros And Cons Of Creative Destruction
Joseph Schumpeter was one of the most famous author and economist in the 20th century. Among his
numerous findings, one stands out; creative destruction. Creation refers to disruptive innovation on
one side, while destruction alludes to the disappearance of some jobs, industries or even sectors on the
other. A popular example is transportation. When combustion engines were invented, horse drawn
vehicles suddenly became out of age. On the short term, there was a lot of job destructions too. If
there was no need for horse drawn vehicles, all adjacent sectors were hit hard: horse breeders were
probably left with less demand, horse drawn vehicles companies began to lose their clientele. In
creative destruction, neither does the creation part nor the destruction part happen overnight. Before
being affordable to the masses and cause the economic disruption mentioned above, the auto industry
had to undergo several incremental as opposed to disruptive changes. Eventually, fordism, which has
been a cause of destructive creation as well, came along the way and created millions of jobs in the
auto industry. When one looks at the jobs created directly, indirectly with auto part suppliers, auto
dealers and thanks to new trade opportunities made possible by this new technology, it becomes
obvious that if jobs losses can be painful, on the long run, benefits from creation overweight its
drawbacks. (Creative destruction, Ricardo Caballero, MIT Economics)

A Critical Analysis Of Edinburgh Fringe Festival
My aim is to conduct a critical analysis on the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, an annual event with the
purpose of providing a platform for unjuried theatrical performances. This event is an established one
and has been held in Edinburgh every August since 1947, when eight theatre groups turned up
uninvited at the Edinburgh International Festival and decided to perform their shows at the fringe of
the festival. (Edinburgh Festival Fringe, [Accessed: 23/05/2016])The Fringe began to grow every year
as more and more performers turned up and performed their own fringe shows. In 1985, the Festival
Fringe Society was created as a facility to formalise these performances and create a central box
office. The society decided to draft a constitution that ensured that whilst they governed the logistics
of the event, they still operated within the ethos of the founding members of the fringe. Therefore the
society maintains a policy that they have no part in vetting the performances for the festival.
(Edinburgh Festival Fringe, et al.)This means that anyone with a creative act can perform over the
three weeks in which the festival takes place. So, the Fringe Festival has come to be known for
hosting thousands of shows across hundreds of venues catering for a variety of tastes and interests.
The Fringe has succeeded in creating an outlet for many people who wouldn t have had the
opportunity to otherwise perform in front of thousands of accredited journalists, art industry

The Joker s Ultimate Villain
There is no shortage of villains in the world of films but the ultimate villain has to be the Joker in The
Dark Knight. Batman and The Joker s character traits isn t what makes them so vastly different, it is
their perspectives and the way they use that cleverness both of them possess. The Joker s madness is
not limited to gun power because the Joker s most effective weapon is his evil mastermind. When one
first catches a glimpse of the Joker, fright will surely ensue. The Joker s clown like appearance taps
into many childhood fears and his scars trace a sinister smile upon his face leaving one to wonder
what the man behind the makeup is smiling about. There are several reasons marking the Joker as the
supreme villain. The Joker s genius and disregard for his own safety are some of the elements that
contribute to the recipe for the most malevolent villain. The Joker and Batman are clear enemies and
both are clever in their own ways. The Joker s genius stems from his creativity and ability to use his
victims own emotions against themselves. The Joker s brilliance is revealed in several scenes
throughout the film. One of the most memorable moments from the film is when the Joker interrupts a

ourselves, our views, and those around us. I believe we develop our default or initial thoughts and
stereotypes about others from our environment and our culture; what we are exposed too. I hope that
as you read this paper you become aware of the stereotypes that you may be subject to as well as ones
you may be making towards others (even without ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I believe I think this way due to being the exception. I grew up and was not only exposed to but
offered and rejected the lifestyle thousands before and after I have followed without a second thought.
I ve lived with my grandparents from the time I was very small and it was due to my mom being on
the streets. Trying to be closer to my mom, my brother and I went to her boyfriend s house to see her,
only to become second to drugs and drinking. Since I was raised in such a fashion I was limited on
what I had; jewelry, makeup, Ipods, cd players, clothes, going outside and even friends. Now, I don t
know what you remember about being a kid, but they don t consider your home life they just focus on
what you do and do not have or even the number of things you do have. I am glad it happened to a
certain extent, though it taught me a lot about myself along the way as well as how they view me
because of my lack of money. However, it would have been nice to be warned of such judgement

The Main Figures Of William Jennings Bryan And John Scopes
The Scopes Trial was a very controversial trial that put religious beliefs against scientific beliefs. The
main figures were William Jennings Bryan and John Scopes. Bryan was a Presbyterian, he was born in
Illinois and later became a Nebraska congressman in 1890. John Scopes was arrested for teaching the
evolution in school. The Scopes Trial had a major impact on America in 1925, making it illegal to
teach about the evolution of life in school.
Before William Bryan became a congressman, he practiced law in Jacksonville in 1883 1887 before
moving to Lincoln, Nebraska, where he was elected to the U.S. Congress in 1890. Bryan was a
presidential candidate three times and leader for the prosecution. Defeated for the U.S. Senate in 1894,
he spent the next two years as editor of the Omaha World Herald and as a popular public lecturer
(William Jennings Bryan). At a Democratic convention in Chicago on July 8, his famous speech Cross
of Gold won him the nomination at the age of 36. During the Spanish American war, Bryan served as
a colonel in a Nebraska regiment. During the campaign, Bryan became the first candidate to seek
voter support. In recognition of his role in securing the Democratic nomination for Woodrow Wilson
in 1912, Bryan was appointed secretary of state the following year.
William Jennings was a Presbyterian, Presbyterians began with the French lawyer John Calvin.
Presbyterians believe they have been chosen by God s grace. However, this election is not primarily

Drug War in Mexico Essay
Mexico s Drug War
Drug trafficking has become an increasingly growing problem in the world today. Illegal drug trade is
a worldwide black market consisting of production, distribution, packaging, and sale of illegal
substances. Although today s War on Drugs is a modern phenomenon, drug problems have been a
common problem throughout history. The market for illegal drugs is massive, when we consider the
estimated global drug trade value is worth $321 billion (Vulliamy). The most drug trafficking happens
on the border between Mexico and the United States. Former Mexican President Felipe Calderon said,
Our neighbor is the largest consumer of drugs in the world. And everybody wants to sell him drugs
through our door and our window ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The government has made some gains, but at a heavy price. A total of 34,612 people have died in drug
related killings in Mexico in the first four years (Siddique). Most of these killing are between cartel
rivals fighting for the control of territories. There are five cartels operating in Mexico: the Sinaloa, the
Gulf, Juarez, Tijuana, the Zetas. The major cartels are the Gulf, Sinaloa and Juarez (Cook 21). Many
of these cartels have joined together forming powerful alliances known as the Federation (Cook 17).
The cartels work together, but they remain independent organizations.
Mexican Cartels are luring youngsters as young as 11 to work in their smuggling operations, attracting
them with what appears to be easy money for doing simple tasks. Cartels recruit children, who are less
likely to be suspects than adults and are easily manipulated by small sums of money, and face less
severe penalties than adults. Kids are asked to smuggle drugs, people and weapons through the border.
Steven McCraw, director of the Texas Department of Public Safety says, They are U.S. citizens who
speak Spanish and blends perfectly in the other side of the border.
There is not a concrete solution to dismantle the drug cartels. The United States has worked along
with Mexico to fight and win the battle against the powerful drug cartels. They need to attack and stop
the source of power. That source is the money. To stop the flow of money, the demand for drugs has to
be stopped. Once the

  • 2. Special Education Personal Statement Personal Statement A teacher affects eternity; he can never tell where his influence stops. Henry B. Adams. For as long as I can remember, I have always wanted to play a big part in children s education, which is why I have decided to enroll for an education course. I believe that educators have a lifelong impact on their students and on the development of resilience. Thus, I aspire to inculcate my love for learning into the next generation, by influencing and inspiring children all through their formal education. I have distinctly applied for Special Needs Education because special education has always been what s near and dear to me in the field of education. Being a special education teacher would be an inevitably rewarding job, in which I get to watch my students grow, as I celebrate their small breakthroughs and victories with them. These small breakthroughs and victories will improve over time and turn into giant leaps, which will leave a lasting impact and ultimately change the child s life. Beyond just educating children with special needs, I aspire to educate the public about children with special needs and special education. By doing so, I hope to remove any uncertainty and fear the public has on this group of children. Not Guilty In Plato s Apology In his influential dialogue Apology , Plato employs Socrates pleading not guilty to his allegations in his trial to argue that the men deemed as wise, are actually not as wise as they appear to be. Searching further into this text will reveal how Plato intended for Apology to have a deeper meaning. Socrates questions the wise politicians, the philosophers, and the crafters of their knowledge and wisdom to discover that they themselves do not comprehend what their work is about. In Apology Socrates states When I began to talk with him, I could not help thinking, that he was not really wise, although he was thought wise by many, and still wiser by himself; and thereupon I tried to explain to him that he thought himself wise, but was not really ... You can try to mop up the water, but the problem won t go away until the leak is stopped at the source. Likewise, the current opioid epidemic that is taking over lives will not come to an end unless the source unneeded opioid prescriptions for teens is stopped. A plethora of teens receive prescriptions for trivial injuries, but doctors over prescribing these medications can put teens on the road to a full blown addiction. The current opioid epidemic is a problem that plagues the lives of thousands of people every day, and Senator Kirsten Gillibrand is taking steps to end the problem. Opioids are a type of pain medication prescribed in pill form, with the most commonly used opioid medications being OxyContin and Vicodin (Gholipour). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Opioid pills flood the body with chemicals to give the user pleasure and pain relief (Triffin). To many, these drugs seem safer than other drugs. However, this is far from the truth. Right now, the opioid epidemic is the fastest growing drug problem (Volk). Teens young age makes them especially vulnerable to addiction. John F. Kelly, Ph.D, associate professor of psychiatry in addiction medicine at Harvard Medical School explains, The brain is in a critical and vulnerable period of growth during adolescence. Kelly added that early exposure to drug misuse increases your risk of addiction by 5 to 10 times, independent of other factors (Triffin). Simultaneously, studies show that when rewarded, teens brains have a strong reaction. This, combined with the impulsive nature of the teen brain means that teens are attracted to thrills. These weaknesses are manipulated by drugs, as observed in animal research. Young rats tend to work harder than adult rats to get drugs, which implies that the teen brain is more attracted to drugs. Product Design In Daniel Pink s A Whole New Mind In saying you need to differentiate to survive, Bob Lutz meant that in order to compete in the modern economy that a company must be capable of producing products faster and cheaper with higher quality than that of their overseas competitors. If this is our goal how might it be that we can achieve such a task? In Daniel Pink s work entitled A Whole New Mind, he puts forth several ideas about how the right brain as it is known in psychology may have the answers. Design combines technology, cognitive science, human need, and beauty to produce something the world didn t know it was missing . Assume that all products have the same technology, price, performance, and features. How would you know which product is better? That s what design does; it is what differentiates one product from another. It creates utility and significance. For every percent of sales invested in product design, a company s sales and profits rise by an average of 3 4 percent. My MAP organization Aldi s thrives on making design choices that will benefit them in the future. They choose to have all stores exactly the same square footage, minimal brand options, only 6 8 employees, even multiple bar codes so checking out is quicker, and chose to save on stocking time by keeping their products in the same boxes they were shipped in. They utilize their costs and that has a huge significance on customer appreciation. Who doesn t want greater quality at everyday low prices? We are our stories; context enriched by emotions. We are not set up to understand logic, we are set up to understand stories. Aldi s wasn t always called Aldi s. It became Aldi s from ALbrecht (brothers last name) +DIscount = ADLI. Aldi s story begins with two brothers; Karl and Theo Albrecht; from the mining town of Essen, Germany in 1913. Their mother had a small food store and when they were old enough they took over the business and expanded to 4 locations. To be able to do this they had to reduce costs by removing merchandise that were not selling, keep the size of their retail outlets small, and neither advertise nor sell fresh produce. His first theme is the midst of the black experience, second theme is to trace the ways Southern society as a whole was remodeled, third theme is the evolution of racial attitudes and patterns of race relations, and the fourth theme is the emergence during the Civil War and Reconstruction. This narration of Reconstruction begins not in 1865, but with the Emancipation Proclamation of 1863. (Business Dictionary, 2017) Diversity does not mean race or race relations; the actual meaning of the word diversity is difference. Differences in thinking styles, values, race, ethnicity, orientation or any aspect of our social identity, are examples. Diversity in the Workplace People with demographic differences working in the same organization make a diverse workforce. Perceptions affect people s relations in how they communicate and interact with one another. Human resource professionals must be effective when dealing with organizational issues relating to diversity in order for those organizations to be successful. Assessing any needs that arise ... • 27. Social Importance Of Oysters Oysters An oyster is a bivalve mollusk, found in beds in the shallow waters of all oceans. An oyster s shell is made up of two valves. The upper one is flat and the lower is convex with multiple outlines and a rough outer surface. Wild oysters will spend most of their lives attached, except for the free swimming larval stage. Oysters and the reefs they form provide many ecological, economic, and social benefits. The health of an oyster bed reflects the overall health of the coastal ecosystem they live in. Not only are they an important part of the estuarine food web, they also provide an excellent habitat for inshore marine life, and form important commercial and recreational fishery. Oysters help control erosion along the shorelines and filter the water they live in. These benefits make them an important species in the estuary. There are many different species of oysters. Some of these include but are not limited to: Pacific Oysters, Kumamoto Oysters, Atlantic Oysters, European Flats, and Olympia Oysters. Pacific Oysters (Crassostrea gigas) are small and sweet. These oysters are the world s most cultivated oysters. They have more of a sharply pointed shell than the Atlantics or European Flats. Today s Pacific Oysters are generally named after where they are harvested. Kumamoto Oysters (Crassostrea sikamea) have been described as small, sweet, and almost nutty. • 28. A Research Study On Drug Testing When Pharmaceutical companies are trying to develop a new drug they begin the process of a clinical trial. A clinical trial in drug testing is when researchers test a new drug on live participants and record information such as side effects and results. Recently, pharmaceutical companies are trying to increase their profits so they have been outsourcing. Outsourcing is when clinical trials go to a clinical research organization (CRO), which are big businesses. One crucial step in a clinical trial is informed consent. The participants must know they are part of a research study, the possible risks, and outcomes. This information should be presented in a manor in which the individual can understand. However, after watching the videos this crucial step is sometimes overlooked or not taken seriously during overseas drug testing. Often times testing is done overseas in areas that are over populated and have a large gap between the wealthy and the poor. When researchers are conducting the trial they have been known to just completely skip over this step or they give individuals the information on the clinical trial but the participants are illiterate and unable to understand any part of it. This is seen as unethical practice. Ethically, all participants are required to know they are part of a clinical trial and they need to know all risks and outcomes projected before participating. • 32. The Glies In Lord Of The Flies By William Golding TCA 1 To start off, Golding s purpose is shaped through theme. His purpose is to show people are evil. According to the passage it says, She was black and pink; and the great bladder of her belly was fringed with a row of piglets that slept or burrowed and squeaked (Golding 1). This statement shows that all of the British boys, except Simon, attacks a mother pig who runs in the clearing. Simon watches all of the boys literally killing the mother pig. This is the climactic part of the novel because the boys completely lost their innocence. In doing so, the boys find pleasure and it represents no civilization left. The slaughter of innocence shows that the boys can not go back to civilization. Another example from the passage states that, Then Jack found the throat and the hot blood spouted over his hands. The sow collapsed under them and they were heavy and fulfilled upon her. The butterflies still danced, preoccupied in the center of the clearing (Golding 12). This sentence shows that all the boys turn into savages and that Jack, the boy that adores hunting and killing just for the fun of it, influences the boys into enjoying rubbing the blood all over their bodies. The boys kill the mother pig and simultaneously cheer and laugh. All in all, symbolically, when the boys put the pig s head on a stick, it represents the darkness and evil within all humanity. The human s actions about savagery v.s. the order of human civilization. Adding on, Golding s purpose of showing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 34. The Pros And Cons Of Creative Destruction Joseph Schumpeter was one of the most famous author and economist in the 20th century. Among his numerous findings, one stands out; creative destruction. Creation refers to disruptive innovation on one side, while destruction alludes to the disappearance of some jobs, industries or even sectors on the other. A popular example is transportation. When combustion engines were invented, horse drawn vehicles suddenly became out of age. On the short term, there was a lot of job destructions too. If there was no need for horse drawn vehicles, all adjacent sectors were hit hard: horse breeders were probably left with less demand, horse drawn vehicles companies began to lose their clientele. In creative destruction, neither does the creation part nor the destruction part happen overnight. Before being affordable to the masses and cause the economic disruption mentioned above, the auto industry had to undergo several incremental as opposed to disruptive changes. Eventually, fordism, which has been a cause of destructive creation as well, came along the way and created millions of jobs in the auto industry. When one looks at the jobs created directly, indirectly with auto part suppliers, auto dealers and thanks to new trade opportunities made possible by this new technology, it becomes obvious that if jobs losses can be painful, on the long run, benefits from creation overweight its drawbacks.
