Bethany Vaughan conducted primary research on soap opera viewership habits. She surveyed a sample and found that few people regularly watch soap operas, and most do not watch them at all. However, some people watch soap operas because they find them interesting or as a way to spend time with family. The sample thought women were most likely to watch soap operas. Respondents expressed interest in seeing homosexual romances and discussions of gender issues covered in soap operas. When creating a trailer, Bethany should consider including loving characters, a romantic plot, an original story, issues relevant to today, interesting characters, and a message.
