The document analyzes several soap opera posters and identifies techniques they use to attract audiences. It discusses how the EastEnders poster uses dark colors and ambiguous language like "Change" and "Forever" to suggest impending doom. The Hollyoaks poster also uses threatening language around "change" to hype dramatic storylines fans enjoy. An analyzed wedding cake image for another soap conveys a sense of shock and betrayal through its composition. Social media integration, logos indicating where to watch, and moody visual filters are also highlighted as effective audience-building devices.
The document outlines a photo shoot plan for a punk magazine. It will feature 17-18 year olds styled to look like punk band members, using props and clothing like skinny jeans and bandannas to convey the punk genre. Photos will include mid and full shots to show clothing, body language, and attitude. High key lighting and Photoshop will be used. Inspiration photos show rebellious, cool styles the photographer aims to achieve. Friends will model, styled with typical punk fashion, hair, and makeup. Photos will take place in a well-lit corridor against a white wall for quality natural light.
The document outlines the magazine production process for 'KERRANG' magazine. It begins with setting a publication date, usually the first Saturday of the month. This is followed by acquiring content through in-house writers and freelancers. The content is then sub-edited for accuracy and layout is designed on desktop publishing software. Proofreading occurs before filing to the printer. The printer prints and the magazine is distributed to retailers and readers. Producing a weekly magazine like 'KERRANG' requires working far in advance to research and acquire timely content that will appeal to their target young adult audience.
Bethany Vaughan is creating a prop list for a punk magazine photoshoot. The list includes costumes of typical punk clothing that will reinforce the magazine's punk genre. It also notes the need to include pictures of both men and women to appeal to different genders, and that hair and skin will be styled to make the models look attractive and the magazine look professional. The equipment includes a Canon EOS 600D to take high quality photos that could be enlarged, along with a tripod. Headphones will also be used as a prop around a band member's neck to portray their rebelliousness and love of music.
This document analyzes the contents page and double page spread (DPS) of the magazine KERRANG!. It discusses the layout, design elements, and stylistic choices that appeal to readers and reinforce the magazine's rebellious brand identity. The large images, distressed fonts, and bold color scheme catch the eye of potential buyers. Subheadings help readers easily navigate to content of interest while maintaining an organized structure. Quotes and images are used to grab attention and encourage reading on. Overall, the technical design choices and codes work together to create an aesthetically pleasing yet edgy style befitting the genre of rock music covered in the magazine.
This document summarizes the results of a questionnaire about magazine preferences. It shows that most respondents were women aged 16-24. Music magazines were the most popular magazine type. The most appealing elements to include in a magazine were free MP3 downloads, top songs lists, and images of musicians. Based on the results, the author will create a punk music magazine with these elements, including free downloads and competitions in the cover lines to attract readers.
The document provides ideas for developing a magazine focused on punk music, including potential masthead names like "Smashed" and "Punked". It suggests colour schemes like black, white, and red. It also discusses establishing a consistent brand identity across social media, websites, and a house style. Potential straplines are proposed such as "In new music we trust" and "What you really want to hear". Story ideas include exclusive band interviews, competitions, reviews, and music news.
This document contains ideas for developing a magazine focused on punk music. It discusses potential masthead names, color scheme options including black, white, and red or black and red. It also covers establishing a consistent brand identity through social media handles, web addresses, and house style. Additionally, it proposes straplines like "In new music we trust" and "What you really want to hear" to position the magazine as promoting new artists rather than mainstream ones. Bethany Vaughan created a mood board for a rock/punk pop music magazine. The mood board includes photos of bands and artists from those genres to attract teen and adult readers who identify with the musicians. It also features covers of mainstream music magazines targeted toward rock and punk pop fans that convey a rebellious attitude fitting for the genre. The magazine cover images provided inspiration for the style, colors, and front cover conventions for Bethany's proposed magazine.
Bethany Vaughan conducted a survey to help design a new music magazine. Most respondents were young females who did not frequently buy magazines. Popular magazine types included gossip and music magazines published every 2 weeks or monthly. The survey found that alternative music was most popular. Respondents enjoyed exclusive interviews, free items, competitions and reviews. This information will help Vaughan design a fortnightly magazine focused on alternative artists that includes popular features like cover lines about top songs to attract a young female audience.
The target audience for the punk rock magazine is people of all genders aged 14-25. This age group is associated with rebellion and the magazine will feature pop-punk and punk rock bands to appeal to younger and older readers within this demographic. The socio-economic needs of the target audience will mainly be students and unemployed people in the lower E economic group who will not have much disposable income, so the magazine price must reflect this. According to uses and gratifications theory, readers will identify with the cover stars and buy the magazine to learn more about bands they already like. The consistent brand identity will also provide a sense of reliability to the target audience as 'survivors' seeking entertainment according to Maslow's hierarchy of
The students from St. Andrew's Catholic School are requesting permission to film scenes for their A-Level media studies fictional soap opera trailer at The Eight Bells Public House in Ewell Village. They would film in the bar area before opening time on November 5th to minimize disruption. The letter stresses that the filming would be for educational purposes only and that the students will behave professionally and not disturb the location or any patrons. Contact information for their teacher, Mr. N Crafts, is provided if the pub needs to discuss the request further.
This document outlines three potential filming locations for a student media project:
1) Beth's house in West Ewell, which would be used to film an establishing shot of the main characters receiving a shocking text message.
2) Outside Beth's house, where the antagonist would be seen cocking a gun outside the window.
3) A local pub, where establishing shots of the community would be filmed, as well as a confrontation scene between the main character and antagonist. Permission would need to be obtained to film at both the house and pub. The pub was chosen to represent community, while the house aims to make the characters more relatable.

Bethany Vaughan conducted primary research on soap opera viewership habits. She surveyed a sample and found that few people regularly watch soap operas, and most do not watch them at all. However, some people watch soap operas because they find them interesting or as a way to spend time with family. The sample thought women were most likely to watch soap operas. Respondents expressed interest in seeing homosexual romances and discussions of gender issues covered in soap operas. When creating a trailer, Bethany should consider including loving characters, a romantic plot, an original story, issues relevant to today, interesting characters, and a message.
