Since Dr. Seuss uses strong words throughout the story, we can assume that the sneetches were either
privileged or not privileged and that there were truly only two options within their society. However,
at the end, when he uses positive word choice, we can assume that the sneetches living as a whole

individual behaviour is more regulated by individual competence, and individual and shared values
(Ouchi 1980; Dolan Garcia 2002) than by rules. Organizational culture may be deﬁned as an
interdependent set of shared values and ways of behaving that are common to the organization and
tend to perpetuate themselves (Kotter Heskett 1992). Organizational culture has been assumed to have
important implications, not only for the individual s affective reactions to organizational life, but also
for the organizational performance (Kotter Heskett 1992; Harris Mossholder 1996; Dwyer et al. 2000;
Kemp Dwyer 2001; Dolan Garcia 2002; Tepeci Bartlett 2002). Chan et al. (2004) have suggested that
organizational culture can be a valuable resource for companies, especially for service industries. In

tested for them. Among 12th graders, the most commonly used drug was alcohol with 76.2% reporting

From the very start, he assumes that the defendant of the case killed his father before they even
discussed the parameters surrounding the case. His preconceived opinion of the boy is detrimental to
the case at hand, all the while when the boy s life is at stake. However, his prejudice is only one of his

succumbed to declaring a not guilty verdict because he has a reasonable doubt in mind. In most cases,
having a sense of classicism and bias only ends up in alienation for the individual which is what

one side this will affect the amount of momentum a ball possess before collision and after collision.
The ball that travels down a ramp with a steeper angle, will have a greater velocity therefore produce
more momentum because it has a greater velocity compared to the ball travelling down a ramp not as
steep. This will then affect the amount of kinetic energy a ball possess after collision. The ball that is

The Therac 25 incident is one of the more difficult to understand. AECL, the company which designed
and manufactured Therac 25 is opaque, and gives little to no information on how the software was
developed. There is no one incident report, as this took place over two years and 6 unrelated accidents.
Many institutions did not even realize the cause patients radiation burns and later medical issues until
months after. Most of what follows is based on a paper by Nancy Leveson called Medical Devices:
Therac 25, which was written in 1995 for IEEE.
Sometimes software bugs can result in the loss of lives, as was the case with a device called Therac
25. Of 11 Therac 25s installed, there were 6 reported accidents, including 3 fatalities, between 1985
and 1987, after which the device was recalled. Patients were given hundreds of times of radiation than
is usual for this treatment. All of the safety mechanisms in Therac 25 relied on software, which itself
was running on custom operating system with no synchronization, and, therefore, multiple race
conditions that could not easily be detected and reproduced. Therac 20, a similar linear accelerator,
which had hardware interlocks to ensure safety, experienced similar software malfunctions, but did not
cause any bodily harm. It was revealed in a deposition that minimal unit testing was done on the
software, violating principle 1.03, of the ACM/IEEE software engineering code of ethics.

1. In the poem Whoso List to Hunt, I Know Where is an Hind written by Sir Thomas Wyatt, in my
opinion, the most appropriate meaning of the word hind is the female of the deer, esp. of the red deer
(Oxford English Dictionary Online).
2. Using hind as a metaphor to a charming lady who is flirty but hard to approach is the central
metaphor of this poem. In this sonnet, Sir Thomas Wyatt almost applied this metaphor throughout the
entire poem. The language from line 1 to line 10 seems to focus on the activity of deer hunting: the
speaker is attracted by a female deer and chases the deer from far behind, but he is exhausted and
gives up as the deer flees; however, the use of she and her in these lines may be a suggestion of a
metaphor. The last four lines then revealed the speech of using hind as a metaphor for lady by adding
the components of diamonds , her fair neck and for Caesar s ; thus the readers could understand the
real intention that hidden under the speaker s metaphor by comparing the similarity of a female deer
