The Use of Visual Aids
Visual aids help to make use of the most effective channel of
communication.
The sense of sight is not just to provide the audience with
something to look at but wherever possible to provide them with
pictures rather than words.
However, aids should help, and not hinder the speaker from
getting their message across; They should also help the audience
to receive and understand the speaker’s message.

Summary
Briefly outline the main issues to be addressed in the
presentation
Make clear links between points as the presentation develops
Allow time for careful proofreading; This is essential to
identify and rectify a range of errors and can have an enormous
impact on the overall presentation
Ensure you add finishing touches i.e. bullet points and
numbering) appropriately
Presentation has three main stages: the opening, the body and
closing
Observe and engage the audience
Use visual aids to communicate some point but they should not
hinder the speaker from getting their message across or the
audience in receiving and understanding the speaker’s message.
