3. INTRODUCTION
What is a Presentation?
Presenting the Content of a certain topic to an audience consisting of more than one or two
individuals.
Why do we need Presentation Skills?
In order to deliver the perfect presentation, we must consider and learn from few crucial soft
skills required.
4. TECHNIQUES
Techniques to make a good presentation?
• Create a PowerPoint Presentation
• Use Visual aids
• Short but informative
• Organise and structure
5. BODY LANGUAGE
One of most crucial aspects to focus on is the Body language while presenting. How to
maintain this?
• Develop a powerful body language.
• Dress up decent and formal.
• Make eye contact with the audience and keep your head up.
• Make sure you’re audible to everyone.
• Don’t fidget around too much or lock your arms.
• Make use of hand gestures but limit it so that the audience don’t get distracted by it.
6. STRUCTURE
• Organize and structure your way of presenting. First, figure out the purpose of your presentation. It
can either be:
- To inform
- To persuade
- To entertain
- To inspire.
• Focus on any one or maximum two purposes.
• It is important to create a good first impression at the start, so avoid false and negative start.
• Structure your presentation content wise, don’t jump into conclusions or hop around topics. Just like
an essay, start with an Introduction, then Main content and Finally the Conclusion.
7. DO'S
• After establishing the purpose, find out the main focal points and deliver them in a neat
manner.
• Grab the attention of the audience by either delivering a joke, quotes, or creative openings
that would interest the audience.
• Make sure you have researched your topic before presenting it.
• Be clear on what you’re conveying during the presentation.
• To keep it more interesting, you can plan audience participation by putting in questions
for them which will also keep them attentive and interested.
8. DO’S (CONT…)
• If the main outcome is to inspire or inform the audience, share a personal story and combine it
with your own data for more reliability.
• Don’t panic. Stay confident.
• Keep to one point at a time and use flowcharts, diagrams, statistics, figures for better
explanation of your topic.
• Keep it short and sweet.
• Prepare and rehearse before presenting.
• Arrive early and get comfortable with the surrounding.
9. DON’TS
• Avoid unnecessary moving and pacing.
• Don’t run throughout the slides and topics.
• Don’t add in too much information into your powerpoint presentation.
• Don’t use too much colors or funky fonts in your PowerPoint presentation if it’s formal.
• Avoid reading out word by word off the slides.
• Don’t talk too fast.
• Avoid fillers such as “uhm” while speaking.
