2. Kerrang is the name for a heavy mental
magazine. This is portrayed in the masthead
with the black edgy writing. The word
Kerrang is the sound heavy mental makes
when its ringing in peoples ears. The contrast

Mixmag is the name of a dance magazine. The
name might of beem given because it's a mix
of dance music, mainly drum n' bass. It has
curvy font to make it not look very formal as it's
a dance music magazine, which would be
targeted at the young population.
Top of the pops magazine is a music magazine
aimed at teenage girls. This is shown through the
girly colours used and the curvy bubble writing.
When you look at the masthead you can instantly
tell it's for girls from the use of pink. Pink being
associated with young girls. The bubble writing
gives the impression it's for the young population
as it's not very formal and looks quite fun.

is written in a very girly font. The

the impression it's for a young
audience as it's pretty and not

5. From looking at both pop music magazines: ‘we love pop’ and ‘top of the
pops’ I found that they always have a popular pop singer as the main
image on the front camera. I think this is because she’s someone who the
reader would look up to, a role model. It also shows easily that the
magazine is for teenage girls. I’ve also found that they use lots of bright
colours for the in house colours. This is normally pink as this colour is
associated with teenage girls. Other colours include bright purple and blue.
From looking at both magazines I have found that information that needs to
stand out is normally in yellow and puffs and plugs that promot things are
also in yellow. This is because yellow is a bright colour which makes it
stand out from the other pinks, purples and blues used on the cover.
Another thing the magazines always include for this genre is free
magazines, normally shown at the bottom of the page. The pop magazine
also always have a few bits about fashion even though it’s a music
magazine. This is because girls of this age are always interested in the
latest fashion so it’s important to include it.

7. From looking at the two contents pages I’ve found they normally
use the house colours from the front cover. They also use a lot of
photos to show readers where to find things is the magazine, this
fits the target audience as it should be easy to find and not have
much writing. The Top of the Pops magazine have put a photo of
the front cover on the contents page which makes it even easier
for the reader to find what they want. Also the double page spread
always has big, bold writing at the top telling you a bit about what
has been said below.

9. From looking at the two double page spreads I have found that
pop magazine normally use one side of the dps for a photo of the
artist/group that is talked about on the other side in either an article
about them or a interview. I’ve also found that the dps with the
main cover story uses the same colour scheme as the front cover
and contents page of the magazine.
