In all three pieces of my magazine I have included images of artists who are rather young, between 15-18
years old, both a mix of males and females. This is common on pop music magazines as they are both male
and female pop artists; One Direction, Jessie J, Bruno Mars, Miley Cyrus… Although there are both male
and female artists, I have represented females for my magazine. I have done this by the colours that I have
used throughout my magazine; pinks, purples, light blues, white… These colours are directed for the female
audience. I have also included topics and stories do to with fashion, make up, boys, advice… which is again
directed at females. Most pop music magazines are targeted at the female audience due to 99% of the
readers of pop music magazines are females.
We Love Pop features Little Mix which is a band of
girls. This automatically targets females. Also by the
colours that are used, instantly shows us that this is
a female magazine as they use female colours;
pinks, purple, yellow. Top Of The Pops features
Justin Bieber and uses different colours such as blue
as well as pink. However it is still targeted at females
which is suggested by the headings around the front
cover page.
As I have used slightly older looking artists on my magazine compared to those used on some of Top Of The
Pops or We Love Pop, it is targeted to a slightly older age group. It is targeted at teenagers between the ages
of 15 and 18. You can tell this by the artists that are featured throughout the three pieces for the magazine.
The front cover, contents page and the double page spread shows that the magazine is targeted at female
teenagers who are old enough to start worrying or want advice about topics such as fashion and boys. In my
magazine, I have highlighted the main topics such as fashion, boys, advice and make up. In other pop music
magazines topics such as artists love life and how to meet an artist are featured. This, in my opinion is for
slightly younger teenage girls as they are the sort of topics that they would want to read about. This is why I am
not including much of those topics as my target audience is slightly more older and more grown up.

my some of my family members which
are a represented as a group in my
magazine. They look older than the
photo of Justin Beiber which is
commonly used in We Love Pop or Top
Of The Pops.
The magazine represents a middle class teenage girl. This is shown by the price of the magazine not being too
expensive and affordable to a teenager. This is also shown by the language and the topics which are covered
in the magazine. The type of language used is the type that the reader will understand and know. The topics
will also be familiar to a middle class female teenage as they are about society and what is new right now,
music, fashion, boys… The reader of this has parents who get an average income and who are able to afford
to get the latest technology or a holiday per year. Someone of higher class may not be keen on these topics as
they may be into different topics such as sport, house, gardening...
Both my magazine and Top Of The Pops
have the same target audience class. Both of
them are affordable and would appeal to a
middle class teenage girl due to the colours
used and the topics which are inside both
magazines.
The target audience is typical in a way due to the target audience being females. This is shown by
the basic use of colours which are usually associated with girls; pink, purple, baby blue, white… This
is also shown by the sub headings of the other topics that will be included inside the magazine; boys,
celebrities, music, fashion, advice, tips… all these topics are usually brought up in a pop music
magazine as this is what the target audience likes to hear and read about the most. I have attempted
to aim at teenage girls aged between 15 and 18 as I wanted to make this pop magazine a bit more
professional to the other ones which are around. This is shown by the artists and the photos that I
have used in my magazine as they are a bit more natural and casual.
This is an example of We Love Pop front cover. It
always has a section on fashion which is typical for
pop music magazines. They are always showing
different items of clothing which may be worn by a
famous artist or that is in style.
