Dynamic Source Routing
Protocol
Zena Mohammed
The Dynamic Source Routing protocol (DSR) is a
simple and efficient routing protocol designed
specifically for use in multi-hop wireless ad-hoc
networks of mobile nodes. DSR allows the network to
be completely self-organizing and self-configuring,
without the need for any existing network
infrastructure or administration.
• There are two main mechanism in DSR
Route Discovery determines the optimum
path for a transmission between a given source
and destination
Route Maintenance ensures that the
transmission path remains optimum and loop-free
as network conditions change, even if this
requires changing the route during a transmission.
