Non Verbal Communication in details.pptxSudeepDas49
This document discusses the importance and elements of non-verbal communication. Research shows that 93% of daily communication is non-verbal, including body language, tone of voice, and other cues. The elements of non-verbal communication are kinesics (body language), oculesics (eye contact), proxemics (spatial distance), paralanguage (tone), artifacts (appearance), chronemics (use of time), and tactilics (touch). Together, these non-verbal signals convey much of the meaning in human interactions.
Communication is the exchange of information between individuals through verbal and non-verbal means. It is critical for human interaction and underlies all human activities from making friends to governing nations. Effective communication requires understanding both the literal meaning of messages as well as the symbolic and contextual meanings.
Nonverbal communication involves sending and receiving messages without words through body language, gestures, eye contact, use of space, touch, time, artifacts, and paralanguage. It accounts for over 50% of communication according to Mehrabian's model. Nonverbal cues can reinforce, complement, or contradict verbal messages and help regulate interactions. Examples of important nonverbal channels discussed are kinesics, proxemics, haptics, chronemics, and their cultural meanings and functions.
This slide corresponds with Wrench, McCroskey, and Richmond's (2008) Human Communication in Everyday Life: Explanations and Applications published by Allyn and Bacon.
This document discusses the importance of non-verbal communication in presentations. It defines non-verbal communication as communication without words through facial expressions, gestures, eye contact, posture, and use of space and time. This document discusses interpersonal communication and provides definitions and examples of key concepts. It defines interpersonal communication as a complex process where a sender encodes verbal, vocal, and visual messages that a receiver decodes based on their own experiences. Effective communication skills are needed to understand different perspectives. It then discusses communication roadblocks and how to overcome them through active listening. Various aspects of non-verbal communication such as paralanguage, gestures, facial expressions, touching, and proxemics are explained. Cultural differences in communication and theories like intimacy-equilibrium theory are also summarized.
Presentation is a means of communicating ideas and information to a group through visual aids and verbal communication. Key aspects of an effective presentation include understanding the audience, creating an outline, using visual aids, and considering kinesics, proxemics, and paralinguistics. Kinesics involves body language and gestures, proxemics deals with physical space, and paralinguistics comprises vocal cues such as voice quality, volume, and pace. The overall goal is to present information to audiences in a systematic, engaging manner to solve problems and share ideas.
Communication is a key part of successful negotiation. Effective communication involves understanding the communication process, the importance of communication during negotiations, and various dimensions and components of communication. Some key aspects of communication during negotiation include having clear presentation tailored to the listener's needs, establishing credibility, providing evidence to support arguments, and expressing emotions genuinely. It is important to plan communications, keep messages clear and concise, ask questions, and provide feedback respectfully. Non-verbal communication and overcoming barriers are also important aspects of communicating well during negotiations.
This document summarizes different aspects of non-verbal communication including kinesics, proxemics, chronemics, haptics, oculesics, and paralanguage. Kinesics involves body movements and gestures including facial expressions and eye contact. Proxemics relates to perceptions of personal space and distance in relationships. Chronemics is the study of how time is used in communication. Haptics refers to the meaning conveyed through touch. Oculesics examines the role of eyes in expressing emotion. Paralanguage studies non-verbal cues in the voice such as pitch, tone, and rhythm. The document provides examples to illustrate these different aspects of non-verbal communication.
This document discusses communication and the communication process. It defines communication as the interchange of thoughts or information to foster mutual understanding. The communication process involves a sender encoding a message, transmitting it through a channel, a receiver decoding the message, and feedback. Verbal communication uses words while non-verbal communication uses gestures, facial expressions, and body language. Some forms of non-verbal communication discussed are emblems, illustrators, affect displays, and adaptors. The document also discusses language, denotative vs connotative meaning, and references for further information.

of extensive research and worry. As the global community grapples with swift urbanization,
population expansion, and economic progress, the effects on natural ecosystems are becoming
more evident. A crucial element of this impact is the alteration of vegetation cover, which plays a
significant role in maintaining the ecological equilibrium of our planet.Land serves as the foundation for all human activities and provides the necessary materials for
these activities. As the most crucial natural resource, its utilization by humans results in different
'Land uses,' which are determined by both human activities and the physical characteristics of the
land.
The utilization of land is impacted by human needs and environmental factors. In countries
like India, rapid population growth and the emphasis on extensive resource exploitation can lead
to significant land degradation, adversely affecting the region's land cover.
Therefore, human intervention has significantly influenced land use patterns over many
centuries, evolving its structure over time and space. In the present era, these changes have
accelerated due to factors such as agriculture and urbanization. Information regarding land use and
cover is essential for various planning and management tasks related to the Earth's surface,
providing crucial environmental data for scientific, resource management, policy purposes, and
diverse human activities.
Accurate understanding of land use and cover is imperative for the development planning
of any area. Consequently, a wide range of professionals, including earth system scientists, land
and water managers, and urban planners, are interested in obtaining data on land use and cover
changes, conversion trends, and other related patterns. The spatial dimensions of land use and
cover support policymakers and scientists in making well-informed decisions, as alterations in
these patterns indicate shifts in economic and social conditions. Monitoring such changes with the
help of Advanced technologies like Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems is
crucial for coordinated efforts across different administrative levels. Advanced technologies like

Changes in vegetation cover refer to variations in the distribution, composition, and overall
structure of plant communities across different temporal and spatial scales. These changes can
occur natural.
2. What is Presentation
A Presentation Is...
A presentation is a means of communication
that can be adapted to various speaking
situations, such as talking to a group,
addressing a meeting or briefing a team. A
presentation requires you to get a message
across to the listeners and will often contain a
'persuasive‘ or a conveying element.
3. The Key Elements of a Presentation
Making a presentation is a way of communicating
your thoughts and ideas to an audience.
key components of a presentation:
Context
Presenter
Audience
Message
Reaction
Method
Impediments
4. For a presentation to be present in a
positive way three things are taken
into consideration.
Purpose
Audience
Logistics
5. Purpose
means…the reason for which something is done or
created or for which something exists.
So the purpose of presentation must be clear
through the presentation.
PURPOSE of presentation may be
To inform
To instruct
To entertain
To inspire/motivate
To activate/stimulate
To persuade
6. Audience
An audience is a group of people who participate in
a show or encounter a work of art, literature (in
which they are called "readers"), theatre, music (in
which they are called "listeners"), video games (in
which they are called "players"), or academics in
any medium.
Audience play an important role in presentation, as
due to them the presentation is being sucessful or a
failure. And for the Audience the presentation is
being presented.
7. Logistics
Basically logistics means the activity of organizing
the movement, equipment, and accommodation
of troops.
Here it’s the management of each and everything
regarding the presentation.
Logistics can be categorised into three :
Mode of Delivery
Paralinguistics
Heptics
8. Mode of delivery
How you deliver the presentation is the
mode of delivery.
There are four ways to deliver a
presentation:
Memorization
Reading
Impromptu
Extemporaneous
9. Paralinguistics
Paralinguistics are the aspects of spoken
communication that do not involve words.
These may add emphasis or shades of
meaning to what people say. Some definitions
limit this to Non-verbal communication that is
not words.
Classified into:
Kinesics
Proxemics
Chronemics
10. KINESICS: study of human movement and gestures,
includes facial ecpression, dressing sence, posture,
gesture, and eye contact.
PROXEMICS: study of how far away from
people/objects we position ourselves. Every person
has a particular space that they keep to themselves
when communicating. There are four types of
proxemics with different distances depending on
the situation and people involved.
CHRONEMICS: study of the place of time in
communication. The way in which one perceives
and values time, structures time, and reacts to time
frames communication.
11. Haptics
Haptics is any form of interaction involving
touch. Haptic communication, the means by
which people and other animals communicate via
touching. Touches among humans that can be
defined as communication include handshakes,
holding hands, kissing These behaviors are referred
to as "adapters" or "tells" and may send messages
that reveal the intentions or feelings of a
communicator and a listener.
