As a result, workforce skills and requirements have also changed.
There are jobs today that didn’t exist 10 years ago — data scientist, social
media manager, app developer — and in five more, there will be new roles with
new requirements that don’t exist now.
But while this has happened, one sector has lagged behind:Education

FINAL THOUGHTS…
For multiple generations, education has successfully supported growth, economic
development, and social change.
While the industry has never faced the magnitude of change and disruption it does
today, the challenges also come with tremendous opportunity for institutions and
their leaders to find new ways to deliver more value to students and the workforce.
By capitalising on new technologies and collaborating with industry forces to build a
new model of education and create a supportive ecosystem, we can shape a new way
of working and learning.
It’s time to reinvigorate our education system so students are adequately prepared
to succeed in an evolving world.

BALANCE BETWEEN FLEXIBILITY AND HIGH QUALITY VET Set up ABC Industry forum – now has 50 + Employers on board Chaired by Sage Lal Meet bi-annually as a group Employers are aware of their sectors need and help shape the curriculum Entire department involved in curriculum envisioning includes employers and exam boards and University partners.

IMPACT OF CO-OPERATION BETWEEN INDUSTRY AND VET  Vendor status CPD for staff (FREE*) Guest speakers/ Tech-talks Industry led assessment and assignment briefs Industry led assessment methods – practical and applied approach Development of new Courses/Pilots i.e FdSc Business Accounting Technology Management (Endorsed by SAP & AAT) NEXTGEN Games, Animation and VFX (Endorsed by Designed by industry in collaboration with educators) BAE Combat Systems Engineering Trailblazer (Defence) DNEG 2D Artist High Level Apprenticeship* BSc (Top-up) Network Security and Software development (developing G.A.VFX now)

LED TO SUCCESSFUL EMBEDDING  First college in England to run High Level Apprentices in Computing and Telecoms 2010  Increased number of enrolments  More staff recruited and trainee teachers trained within the department to meet shortfall of computing teaching staff  WeX/mini projects/Scholarship opportunities for students  Co-developing a STEM strategy for NESCOT … focusing on STEAM…

REGIONAL AND SECTORIAL CO- OPERATION  Don’t re-invent the wheel!  Working with Sector Skills Councils in UK Working with SME/ Industry giants  Working with other like minded leaders across the UK and abroad  Working with exam boards such as Pearson, Edexcel and Aim, NEXTGEN, City & Guilds to develop new courses and write modules  Research Active - Writing papers with PHD/Drs from around the UK from Universities.
  • 11. TECHNOLOGY DOES NOT STAND STILL As a result, workforce skills and requirements have also changed. There are jobs today that didn’t exist 10 years ago — data scientist, social media manager, app developer — and in five more, there will be new roles with new requirements that don’t exist now. But while this has happened, one sector has lagged behind:Education

AWARDS::ACCOLADES::INNOVATIO NS  BTEC Computing student of the Year 2013  Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Female College of Excellence 2013  Pearson/BTEC student of the Year 2014 – 1 in a million!  High level Apprentices – Trailblazer + 2012 and 2014 Highly Commended at National awards  FdSc Business Accounting and Technology management endorsed by SAP and AAT  Scholarship for students  UK India Education Research Initiative (UKIERI)  NEXTGEN VFX an Games and Animation level 3 Course launched Sept 2015  World skills UK – ranked No.1 in England 2014 and 2015 (Won 18 medals since 2011)  World skills International – 3 team members to date, next competing in Abu Dhabi in 2017.
  • 13. FINAL THOUGHTS… For multiple generations, education has successfully supported growth, economic development, and social change. While the industry has never faced the magnitude of change and disruption it does today, the challenges also come with tremendous opportunity for institutions and their leaders to find new ways to deliver more value to students and the workforce. By capitalising on new technologies and collaborating with industry forces to build a new model of education and create a supportive ecosystem, we can shape a new way of working and learning.
