Doug Van Oort discusses changes made to the preparation program for paraeducators and general education teachers at Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The benefits seen so far include paraeducators gaining a better understanding of teacher roles and responsibilities, and some paraeducators choosing to pursue teacher licensure after gaining experience in the field. The main challenge remains convincing adjunct instructors to support the integrated preparation
