Ideas generation –
mind map / mood
board
Thishelps to createa story with my ideas. Doing this means, the story will have an
organised flow and structure. Thisalso links with the horror genre that the story will
be based around.
Proposal To createa summaryof the plan, I madesure to have a proposal form. My proposal
form includes what the story is about, how I am going to achievethis short film. It
also has everything in one place, actors, what type of audienceand wherethe short
film will be shot. A pitch is a useful document as it a short film and will be useful to
show to any interested filmmakers. I will also know how much I need In equipment
and cast.
Script The narrative willbe in first person during theshort film. A script isdone so the film
and the actorsinthe film know what to say when and what timein the film. Also this
canhelp to createa storyboard with structure.
Storyboard The story board is madeto visualisethe film and createmorestructurewithinthe
scenes.
Lighting Plans A lighting planis needed in the film so thecast are seen well when filming the short
film. If therewasn’t a lighting planthen the film will in poor qualityand the cast will
also be in poor quality.
Lighting for illumation- enough light to see what is going on.
Light for dramaticeffect- cast shadowsor bring someone into thelight when needed
or filter over the camera tocreatea different coloured image.
Production Schedule Organisetime- what and when – thishelps for the cast, telling them when they are
in and which scene they will be filming. This will also organisethe timelimit for the
productionand if thereare any need for any moredays for thefilming to take place.
When filming leader, I will allow extra timeifneeded to re film scenes that canbe
improved and thenif anything needs to be adjusted thenthat will be done on that
extra day.
Also thecast will be told when they are needed.
Location Recce Poitenallocationsto suit- where is best for thefilm. For leader, it is essential to look
at different locationsthat will best suit the storyline. If thiswasn’t to happen, then
the film maynot have the best locationpossible.
Comparing locations- highlightpotentialproblems. Asa film maker is it needed to
highlight problemsso the cast and equipment issafe.
Mayneed position- Cannot film without permission.
Risk Assessment A risk assessment must take placebefore any filming occur.
1- Develop how any problems canbe solved.
2- Minimiseanyrisks possible.
Budget Must be organised. If there wasn’t any budget thenyou may over spend and might
have no money to use and then therewill be problemsoccurred.
Call Sheets Thisis a daily list of which cast needs to be on set on different days and times. They
are created so all the cast arethere when needed and the whole filming process is
more organised. Thiscanalso bea check list to makesure everything is there when
needed.
Booking forms Hire equipment whenneeded . Organiseahead so all equipment istherewhen
needed.
Contributor Release
forms Establish that you own the stuff you createand havean signaturefrom all cast,
assigning that theyhave their permissiontofilm. You have controlover the footage.
