Causes and Elevation of the Sino-Soviet Schism Essay
Causes and Elevation of the Sino Soviet Schism
It can be argued that the most significant effect on foreign policy during the Cold
War, besides the arms race, was the schism and eventually antagonism between the USSR and China.
Some historians have argued that the schism between the USSR continued to elevate throughout the
Cold War. Alvin Z. Rubenstien, in his book Soviet Foreign Policy
Since World War II makes the argument that The Sino Soviet rift is more complex today [Rubenstien
wrote his book in 1985] than ever before. (Rubenstien, 148) Some historians argue that the schism has
continued to grow long after the end of the 1960 s.
Other argue that the schism had reached its climax by 1965, when both nations almost ... Show more

After this failure the Soviets refused to invest anymore time into the Chinese cause. The Soviets even
joined the United States in support of the nationalist (and anticommunist) government in unifying
their country
[China], improving their military and economic conditions. (Warth, 56 9). Even after a
Mao, a communist, had taken power Stalin seemed reluctant to cut ties with the head of the nationalist
government, Chiang Kai Shek. This reluctance of Stalin s led China to distrust the motives of the
Soviet Union, espicially in the 1950 s when the USSR asked
China to help North Korea in the Korean War. (Westard, 36 7) Some historians claim that the roots of
the hostility between the Russian and the
Chinese an be traced back to the thirteenth and fourteenth century when Mongol Tartars conquered
most of Russia. During the nineteenth century Russian tsars conquered large parts of China and
imposed unfair treaties on the Chinese empire. (Salisbury, 48 50) With this new information in mind,
combined with the shaky start of Sino Soviet relations, it become more understandable that two
neighboring nations, both with similar ideologies, might not have completely affable relations.. The
first indication of cooperation between the USSR and communist China was in February 1950 when
China and the Soviet Union negotiated the Sino Soviet Treaty of Alliance. A portion of this treaty dealt
with a loan of

Poverty influences
Poverty is one of the main problem in the world, either developed country or developing country.
Poverty both influence developed country, America and developing country, Mexico. In The
Absolutely True Diary of a Part time Indian and The Devil s Highway, they both facing the poverty
issue. Sherman Alexie is telling us about the Indian American living in a hard life and Luis Alberto
Urrea is telling us about the poor Mexican people migrating to United States for gaining wealth. Both
of the two stories meets the same problem which is poverty forcing them to make change. The path to
success are tough and hard, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Comparing these two story, both Indian and Mexican are poor. Their poverty makes them living bad.
Therefore, Arnold wants to leave the Indian reservation and Mexican wants to migrant to America.
Their common target is to leave poor and achieve goodness. Although their original attention are
familiar, their way to success are painful in different ways. Rowdy is the toughest kid on the rez. He is
long and lean and strong like a snake. His heart is as strong and mean as a snake, too. But he is my
best human friend and he cares about me, so he would always tell me the truth.
And he is right. Nobody would miss me if I was gone. (Sherman Alexie 32). Arnold has paid his best
friend for leaving Indian reservation. On the other hand, it can be seen that Arnold has made up his
mind to leave the reservation. It is clearly shows that Arnold has endured poverty so much. For the
Mexicans, the blocks before migrant America are much more difficult than they expected.
By way of this letter, I ask forgiveness and pardon for what happed in the Arizona desert, because I
really am sorry from the bottom of my heart for what happened and it honestly wasn t my intention to
lead those people to their deaths. Rather, my intention was to help them cross the border. But we never
imagined the tragedy would happen. (Urrea 68)
From this situation it is clear to the audiences that the leader who can help Mexicans to cross

John Keats Homer, Fears, Nightingale, And Urn
The Power of Keats Poems
(An Analysis of Keats Poems called Homer, Fears, Nightingale, and Urn)
John Keats was a romantic poet in the early 1800s. He lived from 1975 to 1821, a rather short lived
life and died at the young age of just twenty five. Although Keats died at a young age, the years that
he lived he created a huge impact on society with his poems. Keats developed an interest in poetry and
reading at a young age, setting him up to become an avid poet. John Keats expressed one major
message in each of the poems called On First Looking Into Chapman s Homer, When I Have Fears
That I May Cease to Be, Ode to a Nightingale, and Ode on a Grecian Urn.
In the poem On First Looking Into Chapman s Homer, John Keats emphasizes the message of
exploration, amazement, and ambition. Keats, a typical romantic poet, is intrigued with nature. In the
first four lines of the poem, Keats is searching for something, making the reader ponder. Yet did I
never breathe its pure serene (line 7). Line seven expresses the beauty of the poem and reveals how it
isn t the content of the poem, rather the language. Keats expresses amazement in this poem by
implying the moment that he read Homer s work. He is truly moved by his work and is truly interested
in the language and imagery of Homer s work. It inspired John Keats to write this poem. Ambition
was a key characteristic of John Keats. He was always looking forward to new and better projects that
urged him to become a better poet.

A Long Way Home Short Story
Imagine, twenty five years without knowing if your family is still alive. Twenty five years you have
lived away from home. Spending a majority of your life not being able to kiss your mother, nor your
siblings. A Long Way Home is an autobiography based on the story of five year old Sheru Munshi
Khan, who finds himself lost in Calcutta, the capital of India (his country of origin). Sheru had
intended that he would just tag along with his brother, Guddu, as he ventured to Khandwa for his work
on the trolley but Sheru felt tired and collapsed onto a bench at the station. Guddu told his little
brother to wait and promised to be back shortly. Waking up with his brother out of sight, he boards a

motivates Saroo to embark on this expedition to find home? Home is where his family is, and Saroo
aspires that he arrives as per planned but most importantly for Saroo, it is about the destination and not
the journey for him. Although in the beginning the destination is unclear, the journey is set as he
makes his way into India, exploring the areas of what he believes he used to call home. As he
embarked on the plane to head home he questions his motives,
Was I Doing the right thing? Did I really need to find out about the past when I had all of these people
who loved me very much here with me now? Yes. Of course the answer was yes. I had to find out
where I was from, if I could, even if only to put it behind me. I wanted to see the place I had been
dreaming about for decades. I got on the plane. (Brierley, 173).
Another boost of motivation for Saroo is through the love expressed by all of the people who have
aided Saroo along the way into finding a home. His adopted parents, his adopted brother Mantosh, his
girlfriend Lisa, and other students with Indian backgrounds aswell; all of which brought Saroo s long

Who Is Another Brick In The Wall
Released in 1979, The Wall, by progressive rock band Pink Floyd, stands as one of the most famous
album of all time. Highly regarded for its deep lyrical meaning and concept album storyline, The Wall
sold over 19 million copies worldwide. Exploring the depths of depression and pain, The Wall depicts
the story of Pink, a troubled man separated from the world by a metaphorical brick wall of isolation
and addiction. Thin Ice begins the album with the sheer cries of a wailing baby depicting the
innocence of new life. This innocence and purity, without a worry or care, takes shape in the blue sky
and warm sea of Pink s world. However, as the song transitions the true reality of Pink s depressive
and uncertain world comes further into view; that life, like thin ice , is unpredictable and unforgiving.
Another Brick In The Wall pt. 2 continues to craft the ongoing struggle between Pink and the
metaphorical wall separating him from the emotional struggles of the world. Citing his education as
another brick in the wall Pink seems to suggest that the physical and mental abuse he faced in school

Moving Away at a Young Age Essay
Moving Away at a Young Age
Moving far away from family and friends can be tough on a child at a young age. It has its pros and
cons. One learns how to deal with moving away from the people they love and also learn how to deal
with adjusting to new ways of life. Everything seems so different and at a young age one feels like
they have just left the whole world behind them. That was an experience that changed my life as a
person. It taught me how to deal with change and how to adjust. It developed me from a young boy
into a mature young man.

individual. I started playing sports in middle school and quickly became popular because of my
athleticism. My adjustment to my new lifestyle was a slow but patient and rewarding process.
My new lifestyle has changed me for the better. I have come outside of my shell, and am happy with
where I am in life. I have become more mature and I have learned to just be myself, and people

Essay on Media Bias Towards Science
The natural sciences is a world the general public will either dive into head first to exploit research out
of fear and ignorance or to coexist with and celebrate recent advancements and discoveries. Whether
or not the public stands and cheers or sulks and cries is entirely dependent on the accessibility of
information and data that is available for public discretion and evaluation. People remain ignorant
about many scientific advances that have paved the path for potential scientific solutions in major
areas including cancer research, prenatal health, pediatric medicine, and genetics. However,
sometimes the disregard for the aforementioned scientific triumphs is not entirely the fault of the
public. The media has an incredible influence ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Wikipedia.org, amniotic stem cells are multipotent cells that are able to differentiate into
various tissues and are useful for future human applications. In other words, these stem cells float
around in the protective amniotic sack surrounding the embryo and can be extracted safely through
amniocentesis without any harm to the embryo and then manipulated to form various types of cells. As
described by the articles, amniotic stem cells have a variety of advantages and in perception, are a
solution to several ethical issues that have evolved because of furthering research in stem cells. The
articles both highlight the use of amniotic fluid stem cells as tools to study human genetic diseases by

surrounding stem cell research: the ethical and moral nature of disrupting fetal development by
extracting the embryonic stem cells and thus terminating the embryo. Amniotic stem cells provide a

Essay On Breast Segmentation Recovery
Breast Augmentation Recovery
Patients in Breast augmentation recovery are usually asked to limit physical exertion for 3 to 7 days
before gradually getting back to more rigorous activities. The amount of rest needed and the amount
of time required for a total recovery where you are able to get back to regular activities will be based
on the locations of the incisions, the implant size as well as if the breast implant is located over or

The most popular cosmetic surgery procedure in the world is breast augmentation and new

the surgery. Two major considerations are how to avoid physical strain after surgery and how much
time you ll need to spend away from work and other obligations. Will you be able to set up an
environment that is calm and relaxing that will speed up healing? Patients should also keep in mind
that they will not need to spend their recuperation time in bed for a full week. Instead, you only have
to minimize your physical activities and follow your doctor s instructions to properly heal.
If you are seriously thinking about getting breast enhancements, really take all aspects of the surgery

Wrought Iron Gates Research Paper
History of Wrought Iron Gates
As with everything in manufacturing and design, wrought iron has a long line of history. It has been
around for several centuries due to it s long lasting durability and beauty. Wrought iron unlike cast
iron is not brittle and can be beat in to elaborate designs when heated.
When wrought iron gates first came about they were all heated and molded by hand. In this day and
age you can still find several blacksmiths who will still do this by hand. However, most of the time it
is done in a factory so that they all look the same to provide a seamless look.
The first wrought iron gate was manufactured in the 18th century and was made for a cathedral. The
priest who didn t want a fence at all said that if there had to be one, he wanted it made from wrought
iron over any other material. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first gate around the White House in the United States was made of wrought iron. This is because
it provided the security the White House needed. Other than knowing that wrought iron was extremely
durable due to the components that it is made of, they learned that it would be strong enough to
protect the White House due to an accident. This accident happened when a man lost control of his car
and almost crashed into a building. The only reason he did not crash was a wrought iron figure that
stopped him before he reached it.
Now days wrought iron gates can be found all over the globe. They are great for homes as well as
businesses. Not only do these gates provided durability and protection, but they also looked wonderful
while doing it.
One of the benefits people love most about this type of gate, is that the design possibilities are endless.

Problem Solutions to Global Communication
Problem Solution: Global Communications Global Communication (GC) is facing a significant
challenge in maintaining its competitive while honoring the rights of all stakeholders. Handled
improperly, a push to increase the bottom line can result in a worse financial situation simply due to
organization behavior. To accomplish its goals, GC must not only keep the end state in mind, but also
address the method by which goals are achieved. Communication between stakeholders is essential to
provide a foundation of needs and resources GC has to work with. The effect of emotion on work
product makes it essential that options to outsource and other changes are fully explored for all costs.
A consistent delivery to stakeholders, such as union ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although GC s declining performance is in a completely different industry, the same principle applies
to both companies – a clear statement of what will happen followed by actions that back it up are
necessary to make significant cultural changes. For GC to argue that decrease of operating costs is
prompting the outsourcing, then teams across the company must be subject to budget reductions. This
strategy can be coupled with workflow analysis (see below). A second area for GC to examine in
defining its corporate strategy is where the company s core competencies lie – is GC noted for their
technical team or aggressive marketing strategies. At first glance, a call center does not have much in
common with the telecom industry. But at McKesson, the loss of several FTE positions stimulated
employees to develop a cohesive plan to train coworkers and streamline workflow to allow for the
consolidation of three groups (Levin, 2006). This was accomplished by fully informing affected staff
of upcoming changes and taking their input into consideration to develop/implement a solution. GC
has a similar opportunity in front of them – by including union and staff on the constraints of the
current situation as well as available resources, employees themselves may be able to identify
additional areas of savings while working to retain the employee pool in a redistributed basis. As with
McKesson, GC may find that many strategies that emerge are ones that have been

Effects Of Socioeconomic Status On Middle Childhood Essay
The Effects of Socioeconomic Status from Birth to Middle Childhood Socioeconomic status is the
driving force behind many aspects of life. In this essay I will touch on several ways in which it can
impact areas of development both in the United States and other places around the world. The first
area I would like to look at is Behavior. In the textbook chapter 2 discusses behavior genetics and
heritability. It discusses the relationship between the genetic and the environmental influences using
SES as an example on environment as it relates to intelligence. The book states that some studies find
middle class families to have higher heritability of intelligence not due to different genes than those in
a lower SES but because they have access to greater resources. (Arnett, 2016) Another study used a
Family based training program in lower SES preschoolers. Children from different socioeconomic
status (SES) backgrounds display profound disparities in cognitive skills, brain structure and function,
and academic outcomes (e.g., refs. 1⇓⇓ 4). Because academic disparities associated with SES are
increasing in many societies (5), there is strong motivation to develop and implement training
programs that can narrow these achievement gaps. (Neville, et al., 2013) This study did find that the
children in the Family based program showed significant changes in the reduction of problem
behavior and improvement in their social skills. The implementation of parent or caregiver

Osha And Its Involvement Of The Meatpacking Industry
In contradiction to the downgrading tone presented in the previous discussion towards OSHA and its
involvement in the meatpacking industry, the implementation of OSHA had some uplifting attributes
even though it had minute significance to the cause as presented by the scholarly individual, Dr. Sears,
and the two notable muckraker, Eric Schlosser and Upton Sinclair. In cohesion to the upbringing of
change due to OSHA, Claire Epstein s article, Keeping OSHA Records enhances the awareness of the
regulatory incorporation s care for the workers safety and documentation by stating Employers with
more than 11 employees who are not in partially exempt industries are required to keep OSHA
recordkeeping logs to track information on OSHA recordable injuries and illnesses (Epstein). But not

Comparing Aristotle And David Hume
There are two significant empiricists I m going to focus on, Aristotle and David Hume. Specifically,
the focus is on their ethics: what those ethics are, how they differ from each other, and which is
superior. Superiority will be determined by the philosophy s usefulness whether the epitome of a
philosophy s virtue is attainable by man; and how conducive the philosophy is to human happiness. In
both of these respects, Aristotle is superior to Hume. To Aristotle, ethics is not an exact science, it s
ruled by broad generalizations that work most of the time and are found with those of experience, the
men of practical wisdom (Nicomachean Ethics, 1094b15 1095a10). We don t need a focused study in
the sciences to understand the good, all one needs is a proper understanding of how the external
aspects of life: friendship, pleasure, honor, and wealth operate in concert. No aspects of friendship,
pleasure, honor, and wealth ought to be practiced too much (excess) or too little (deficient); moral
virtue is action performed between two extremes (Nic. Ethics, 1106b5 25). And it is by consultation
that one may find the middle ground between excess and deficiency, The Golden Mean (Nic. Ethics,
1097b5 20; Nic. Ethics, 1104a10 25). Virtue is, by definition, the excellent performance of an object s
function (Nic. Ethics, 1097b25 30). A thing s function is determined by eliminating every ability that
isn t exclusive to what it is to be that thing (Nic. Ethics, 1097b30 1098a5). For example, a

Gabriel Tanner Essay
Gabriel Tanner as the mysterious creepy guy makes for a good plot beat but make the sequence more
suspenseful and tense. Chris notices him, but then goes on his way. Have Gabriel appear to be stalking
him. Maybe Chris gets to his car, and Gabriel taps on his shoulder and Chris jumps. First, tease the
audience with his uneasy feeling, he dismisses it, and then Gabriel appears. This will elevate the
tension more than Chris approaching Gabriel. Cut the dialogue Hey. Creepy guy standing in the back
of a room...
Also, in the scene in which he finds Gabriel Tanner inside his house should be tenser. Again, tease the
audience first. He comes homes, calls out, elevate the tone, and then he finds Gabriel with Andrea.
However, there s an inconsistency ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There s a tendency to explain or tell feelings or thoughts versus showing. Remember the audience can
only see what s on the screen and they can only hear the dialogue. Show how Chris is visibly annoyed
(rolls eyes, deep breath). Also later, the idea that Chris ponders his response, should be visual.
Everyone talks about the attack as if it caused great trauma to Chris, but the audience doesn t feel this.
The audience doesn t feel that he was away.
Cut dialogue: Let s see who s behind... Let the visuals (and sounds) convey the tension in the scene
(the library).
Consider a stronger pay off for the idea of the Black Magic Book.
Consider adding a visual reaction on page 53 when Andrea tells Chris that she s pregnant.
In the climax when Ben is the host, consider having Ben/Demon speak. The climax feels like it needs
a bit more between Chris and Ben/Demon. Remember, he has to not only physically outwit him, but
mentally.
The scene with the paramedics can just be visual, versus including dialogue. Then transition to the
hospital where the doctor tells him, he can see his son.
The dialogue with the lawyer sounds a bit contrived/on the nose.

The Role of Television on Childhood Violence Essay
The Role of Television on Childhood Violence
What does the world look like these days? It often seems like everywhere one looks, violence is there.
We see it on the streets, back alleys, school, and even at home. The last of these is a major source of
violence. In many peoples living rooms there sits an outlet for violence that often goes unnoticed. It is
the television, and the children who view it are often hypnotized by action that takes place in it.
Violence is the use of one s powers to inflict mental or physical injury upon another (Webster, 659).
Research shows that television is definitely a major source of violent behavior. Media has been

The children find the violent characters on television fun to imitate. Children do imitate the behavior
of models such as those portrayed in television, movies, etc. They do so because the ideas that are
shown to them on television are more attractive to the viewer than those the viewer can think up
himself. (Langone,98). Children like the violence in television because it is able to be more exciting
and enthralling than the violence that is normally viewed on the streets.
Aggression is not the only issue involved. Statistics show that children who spend more time watching
violent TV programming are rated more poorly by their teachers, rated more poorly by their peers, and
have few problem solving skills.
Another research among U.S. children discovered the differences between children who watch a lot of
violent television and those who don t. The results were that the children who watched more violent
television were more likely to agree that it s okay to hit someone if you re mad at them for a good
reason. These children may become less bothered by violence and see nothing wrong with it. The
other group learned that problems can be solved passively, through discussion and authority (Cheyney
46).
As you can see, television violence can disrupt a child s learning and thinking ability which will cause
life long problems.
Not only does television violence affect the child s youth, but it can also affect his or her adulthood.

Wwe By Fatimah Asghar, A Light Is Shone On The Tendencies...
In the poem WWE by Fatimah Asghar, a light is shone on the tendencies of Americans to praise men
and masculinity. More than that, Asghar provides insight to her own experiences with American
culture as a Pakistani woman trying to find her way in this country. In the poem, Asghar expresses her
pride for her country, while simultaneously discussing the assimilation of her aunt to American
culture. In this way, she uses this poem as an outlet to express her experience of becoming American.
Through the use of passionate diction, realistic imagery, couplet form, Asghar is able to paint a clear
picture of the struggles of immigrants trying to assimilate to American culture, and the relationships
between man and woman. Asghar starts the poem off by describing her aunt s actions as she prepares
what is most likely dinner for husband. She describes her actions using rolls and pounds . These
specific words can be seen as a parallel to how one would describe the men in WWE. However, by
using these specific masculine descriptors combined with the action of making her traditional native
food, Asghar is able to create a parallel to her native culture and American culture. She is also able to
show the reader that embracing a new culture does not mean you have to leave all semblances of your
previous culture behind. She does this again when she discusses her aunt watching these men on TV
with kajaled eyes. Kajal is the application of kohl, or eyeliner. This is customary in many

First Shot Summary
First Shot is written as a fiction book. This story, like most books, has a deeper meaning that
everybody can relate to: Actions have consequences. The book begins with the main character David,
he s describing everything that has ever gone wrong in his life. He even compares himself to an
appendix. (The most useless of the human organs.) After explaining that David s father is the Principal
of this mysterious rich kid school in Maine, and the town below it is split by name: Cardnell vs.
Jackstaff. Neither side is quite fond of the other. The Cardnells are rich, and well educated people.
While the Jackstaffs are stereotyped to be stupid, and petty criminals. And, that the only thing David
really cares about is shooting. The school has this contest called First Shot which is where the best
shooter gets to fire a single shot at graduation. And that David s roommate is Garrett Rothenberg who
just happens to be the son of the financial manager of the school. And after Misty arrives. (A new
student with a southern accent, and a perfect bullseye.) David falls head over heels for her, anyway,
after all that is explained, the story quickly jumps into the mystery of David s mother s murder. David

Student In College Wired For Time Summary
(5) Student in College Pressed for Time A person can have the best memory however, it all comes
down to how someone studies. A common method of studying among students is cramming. We make
the mistake of devoting a big portion of our time to learning a material and over learn.
To avoid overlearning, students should take breaks after reviewing content. Some educators believe
that method of learning is an effective way to prolong long term retention and is common in schools.
For example, assignments for mathematics courses include similar problems, leading students to
overlearn.
Could some educators be correct in saying that there are benefits to overlearning? In experiments

To correctly determine the benefits of overlearning, there are more studies measuring using

gains however those gains were nowhere to be found after four weeks. Other studies show that there
are only declining overlearning benefits. Overlearning can increase performance for a short amount of

Parenting Styles And Styles Of Parenting
Parenting Styles My term paper will discuss the 4 Styles of Parenting, including; the styles of
parenting that we as single parents and couple parents may identify with. My paper will also discuss
how each parenting styles impacts our children, if it works and the style of parenting that s most
effective. Authoritative Parenting Style The Authoritative Style of Parenting, children are expected to
follow the rules and guidelines that a parent with this style of parenting has put into place. This type of
parents are responsive to their children and willing (eager) to listen to questions. Authoritative parents
gives reasonable demands, consistent limits, expresses warmth and affection which every child, I
think, yearns for. Rules are set and reasons behind the rules are explain to ensure that the child (ren)
understands. They re also willing to listen to the child s feelings when setting these limits. Parents
with this style of parenting are flexible and willing to bend the rules in certain cases for example,
allowing the child to stay up an hour pass the normal bedtime, so that the child can finish watching
television. When a child (ren) fail to meet the expectations that an Authoritative Parent is more of a
nurturing and forgiving parent rather than punishing. These types of parents uses rewards, praises, and
positive consequences for good behaviors. Baurmind (1971, 1991) suggests that these parents, monitor
and impart clear standards for their children s conduct. They

The Significance Of The Four Noble Practices In Western...
1. Various things echo practices in Western religion. The Noble Eightfold Path for instance, echoes the
Ten Commandments of the Christianity. They both instruct people on what and whatnot to do, and
give them a guideline for everyday life. For example, the Noble Eightfold path instructs people to
have Right Conduct, which is similar to the Ten Commandments saying not to kill or steal. The Four
Noble Truths tell about the evils of the World and how to avoid them, just like the Bible. Also, the
Bible tells Christians how to please God and eventually reach Heaven, just as the Four Noble Truths
leads Buddhists to Nirvana. Buddha tells the Bhikkhus, Since I possessed, O Bhikkhus, with perfect

Characterism In Looking For Alibrandi By Melina Marchetta
he novel, Looking for Alibrandi by Melina Marchetta, focuses on a 17 year old teenager who has an
Italian background called Josephine Alibrandi. Josephine is really two different people at the
beginning and the end of the book. In the beginning, Josephine is overdramatic, poised to react to her
Italian background and her illegitimacy. At the end of the book, Josephine began to achieve
emancipation. She has learnt that she has blown her problems out of proportion, that not everyone is
about to execute her for being Italian and illegitimate. Josephine s interaction with the other characters
has brought this about. She faced quite a number of challenges in her final year. They include the
arrival of Michael Andretti and her change of perspective and attitude towards Nonna Katia. In the
beginning of the novel, Josephine s attitude towards Nonna was very atrocious. Despite the fact that
she disliked Nonna, she still has to come to her house every afternoon after school. One of the reasons
that she disliked coming to Nonna s house was that she despised the idea of being force fed every

Tom Buchanan Quotes For Gatsby s Death
It was the last days of summer. The atmosphere began to change, leaves falling, and the sky the
perfect crisp blue like a never ending ocean. Gatsby decided it was the perfect day to take a dip in the

you know what it s like to be shot? Do you know what it s like to drown in your own pool of blood?
Your body sinking to the bottom as the water engulfs you. Your lungs now only filled with blood, and
only thing you can do is lie in the abyss of your death. This is Gatsby s story as he was killed in his
own home. You may ask, Who would do such a thing, killing a innocent man? And, on top of that to
kill him in his beautiful home? Well I have the answer for you ladies and gentleman. The person guilty
of this monstrous crime is Tom Buchanan. Tom Buchanan is brute, imperious, and just like his wife
Daisy he is a careless man; crushing and destroying lives in his path. As well, Tom is a cheater; let s
not forget he s having an affair with another woman: Myrtle wilson. Above all Tom Buchanan is a

Social Learning Theory
For this assignment, I will be studying social learning theory. Social learning theory was first proposed
by Albert Bandura. It is a theory that emphasizes the importance of observing and modeling the
behaviors, attitudes, and emotional reactions of others, ( Social Learning Theory, n.d.). There are three
main hypotheses of social learning theory. First, the theory assumes that people can learn by observing
others (Cherry, n.d.). Second, social learning theory builds on behaviorism by suggesting that intrinsic
rewards can help a person learn or modify behavior. However, observation alone does not lead to a
change in behavior. There are four main steps involved in whether the individual can learn based on
observation. Those four steps include attention, retention, reproduction, and motivation (Cherry, n.d.).
Social learning theory implies that cognitive processes (thought patterns) and environmental cues (the
behavior of others that may be modeled) are important for learning.
The assigned readings show that Bandura s original social learning theory was expanded on by other
researchers like Akers. Akers suggested that the frequency, duration, intensity, and priority of the
different associations individuals have with others also has a strong bearing on whether the individual
learns to change his or her behavior (Cochran, 2011, p. 795). In other words, a child is more
influenced by his or her parents because that child sees the parent often if not always (frequency and

The imprints of Lang is located in different places based on the specific film. Looking at Destiny, the

hence love. The handprint provides visual and expressional imagery that is helpful in determining the
theme and the mood of the film. Indeed, the imprints depict mythological and surreal qualities that are

was deserted simply due to the fact that it was Sunday, the empty Hall of Justice symbolizes freedom.
Specifically, this can be seen when Joe states, It would be...heartless terror. Yes. Terrible, and...Very

this point in the play, the subject of justice had been brought up twice before. Immediately preceding
Joe s description of an empty Hall of Justice, in Act II, Scene 6, Joe had struggled with the concepts of

The movie, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, is a historical fiction. It occurs some time in China
under a dynasty. Some of the events that happened in this movie relate to some of the material that we

horses for mobility and height against their enemies. When Lo and Jen are in Lo s cave, he assumes

Earlier in the movie, porcelain and silk were displayed.
Normally in East Asia, silk and porcelain were apart of the Chinese trading goods to parts of Europe,

instead of hitting it straight on the nail, he decided to put some inaccuracy into the film. Also, I am not

Furthermore, the author reveals through Shukhov s actions the determination that mankind
experienced in the gulags. Shukhov takes a job, which could normally be considered a gruelling task,
and turns it into an act of fortitude. As the sole thing he sees is the wall in front of him (97) and he
shouts to not give up yet, boys! (109), he strongly exemplifies the perseverance of the prisoners. The
task that he is given should dishearten him but instead, boosts his morale and thus, his determination.
The character of Shukhov is crafted as a glaring example of the resilience men have in a gulag, and
this is additionally explored through the characterization of Alyoshka.
Solzhenitsyn creates the compelling character of Alyoshka who stays true to himself and to others in
the face of adversity. Staying faithful to his religion gives him the strength he requires in order to
focus on the positive outcomes of the gulags. Contrary to popular opinion, the author uses Alyoshka s
dialogue to exhibit the positivity as he says to [b]e glad [they are] in prison so that they have time to

and potential fans about the upcoming events. This is a free and easy way for the program to spread
information to the public. 3. Based on examples provided in the case study, what are some potential

The Current Makeup Of The Texas Dream Act
The first policy alternative, the status quo, is to not repeal or change the current makeup of the Texas
Dream Act. Texas awards around $9 million in grants and scholarships, which are paid from the
appropriations made by the legislature every two years. This might seem like a large amount but that
cost is merely a fraction of the net profit the states makes off of undocumented students paying tuition
at universities across the state. By not changing the policy Texas would expect to attain $56.1 million

On the other hand, US citizens from other states cannot pay in state tuition rates, so that is unfair to
them. A way to solve this issue perhaps would be to create a public policy to allow US students to pay
the same tuition rate across the US. In total, alternative 1 scores 2.05 out of 3.0. The policy is of low
cost to the state, brings in a large amount of revenue, and is relatively fair to the parties involved and
affected.
The second policy alternative received the lowest overall score for many reasons. Its efficiency score
is 0.5 although it does save the state $9 million every two years, but it cost the states more maintain
this population because without college education a large portion of the students will find themselves
incarcerated, with more health problems, and having more children earlier in their lives. This policy is

cost benefit score is 0.35 because without the education the students are not able to acquire the
necessary skills to attract big name employers such as Google, Accenture, and even Toyota who are

Trail Of Broken Treaties Research Paper
Treaties
Treaties were first created or signed on September 17, 1778 in Fort Pitt present day Pittsburgh. Over
500 or more treaties were established for land and various other reasons, but 500 were also broken,
changed or for the government interests. Many treaties had a big meaning to the Native American
people, but would soon find out it was just a temporary type of treaties. As far as treaties go, it came
with fighting and many consequences along with not doing what the government wanted them to do.
Although the government promised the Native American people their land and to be safe and secured,
the land would soon be taken and the government trading their land for more, it became a huge

  • 2. Causes and Elevation of the Sino-Soviet Schism Essay Causes and Elevation of the Sino Soviet Schism It can be argued that the most significant effect on foreign policy during the Cold War, besides the arms race, was the schism and eventually antagonism between the USSR and China. Some historians have argued that the schism between the USSR continued to elevate throughout the Cold War. Alvin Z. Rubenstien, in his book Soviet Foreign Policy Since World War II makes the argument that The Sino Soviet rift is more complex today [Rubenstien wrote his book in 1985] than ever before. (Rubenstien, 148) Some historians argue that the schism has continued to grow long after the end of the 1960 s. Other argue that the schism had reached its climax by 1965, when both nations almost ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After this failure the Soviets refused to invest anymore time into the Chinese cause. The Soviets even joined the United States in support of the nationalist (and anticommunist) government in unifying their country [China], improving their military and economic conditions. (Warth, 56 9). Even after a Mao, a communist, had taken power Stalin seemed reluctant to cut ties with the head of the nationalist government, Chiang Kai Shek. This reluctance of Stalin s led China to distrust the motives of the Soviet Union, espicially in the 1950 s when the USSR asked China to help North Korea in the Korean War. (Westard, 36 7) Some historians claim that the roots of the hostility between the Russian and the Chinese an be traced back to the thirteenth and fourteenth century when Mongol Tartars conquered most of Russia. During the nineteenth century Russian tsars conquered large parts of China and imposed unfair treaties on the Chinese empire. (Salisbury, 48 50) With this new information in mind, combined with the shaky start of Sino Soviet relations, it become more understandable that two neighboring nations, both with similar ideologies, might not have completely affable relations.. The first indication of cooperation between the USSR and communist China was in February 1950 when China and the Soviet Union negotiated the Sino Soviet Treaty of Alliance. A portion of this treaty dealt with a loan of 300 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Comparing these two story, both Indian and Mexican are poor. Their poverty makes them living bad. Therefore, Arnold wants to leave the Indian reservation and Mexican wants to migrant to America. Their common target is to leave poor and achieve goodness. Although their original attention are familiar, their way to success are painful in different ways. Rowdy is the toughest kid on the rez. He is long and lean and strong like a snake. His heart is as strong and mean as a snake, too. But he is my best human friend and he cares about me, so he would always tell me the truth. And he is right. Nobody would miss me if I was gone. (Sherman Alexie 32). Arnold has paid his best friend for leaving Indian reservation. On the other hand, it can be seen that Arnold has made up his mind to leave the reservation. It is clearly shows that Arnold has endured poverty so much. For the Mexicans, the blocks before migrant America are much more difficult than they expected. By way of this letter, I ask forgiveness and pardon for what happed in the Arizona desert, because I really am sorry from the bottom of my heart for what happened and it honestly wasn t my intention to lead those people to their deaths. In the poem On First Looking Into Chapman s Homer, John Keats emphasizes the message of exploration, amazement, and ambition. Keats, a typical romantic poet, is intrigued with nature. In the first four lines of the poem, Keats is searching for something, making the reader ponder. Yet did I never breathe its pure serene (line 7). Line seven expresses the beauty of the poem and reveals how it isn t the content of the poem, rather the language. Keats expresses amazement in this poem by implying the moment that he read Homer s work. He is truly moved by his work and is truly interested in the language and imagery of Homer s work. It inspired John Keats to write this poem. Ambition was a key characteristic of John Keats. He was always looking forward to new and better projects that urged him to become a better poet. It has been around for several centuries due to it s long lasting durability and beauty. Wrought iron unlike cast iron is not brittle and can be beat in to elaborate designs when heated. When wrought iron gates first came about they were all heated and molded by hand. In this day and age you can still find several blacksmiths who will still do this by hand. However, most of the time it is done in a factory so that they all look the same to provide a seamless look. This strategy can be coupled with workflow analysis (see below). A second area for GC to examine in defining its corporate strategy is where the company s core competencies lie – is GC noted for their technical team or aggressive marketing strategies. Effects Of Socioeconomic Status On Middle Childhood Essay The Effects of Socioeconomic Status from Birth to Middle Childhood Socioeconomic status is the driving force behind many aspects of life. In this essay I will touch on several ways in which it can impact areas of development both in the United States and other places around the world. The first area I would like to look at is Behavior. In the textbook chapter 2 discusses behavior genetics and heritability. It discusses the relationship between the genetic and the environmental influences using SES as an example on environment as it relates to intelligence. The book states that some studies find middle class families to have higher heritability of intelligence not due to different genes than those in a lower SES but because they have access to greater resources. (Arnett, 2016) Another study used a Family based training program in lower SES preschoolers. Children from different socioeconomic status (SES) backgrounds display profound disparities in cognitive skills, brain structure and function, and academic outcomes (e.g., refs. 1⇓⇓ 4). Because academic disparities associated with SES are increasing in many societies (5), there is strong motivation to develop and implement training programs that can narrow these achievement gaps. (Neville, et al., 2013) This study did find that the children in the Family based program showed significant changes in the reduction of problem behavior and improvement in their social skills. • 17. Comparing Aristotle And David Hume There are two significant empiricists I m going to focus on, Aristotle and David Hume. Specifically, the focus is on their ethics: what those ethics are, how they differ from each other, and which is superior. Superiority will be determined by the philosophy s usefulness whether the epitome of a philosophy s virtue is attainable by man; and how conducive the philosophy is to human happiness. In both of these respects, Aristotle is superior to Hume. To Aristotle, ethics is not an exact science, it s ruled by broad generalizations that work most of the time and are found with those of experience, the men of practical wisdom (Nicomachean Ethics, 1094b15 1095a10). We don t need a focused study in the sciences to understand the good, all one needs is a proper understanding of how the external aspects of life: friendship, pleasure, honor, and wealth operate in concert. No aspects of friendship, pleasure, honor, and wealth ought to be practiced too much (excess) or too little (deficient); moral virtue is action performed between two extremes (Nic. Ethics, 1106b5 25). And it is by consultation that one may find the middle ground between excess and deficiency, The Golden Mean (Nic. Ethics, 1097b5 20; Nic. Ethics, 1104a10 25). Virtue is, by definition, the excellent performance of an object s function (Nic. Ethics, 1097b25 30). A thing s function is determined by eliminating every ability that isn t exclusive to what it is to be that thing (Nic. Ethics, 1097b30 1098a5). For example, a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

(Langone,98). Children like the violence in television because it is able to be more exciting and enthralling than the violence that is normally viewed on the streets. Aggression is not the only issue involved. Statistics show that children who spend more time watching violent TV programming are rated more poorly by their teachers, rated more poorly by their peers, and have few problem solving skills. She has learnt that she has blown her problems out of proportion, that not everyone is about to execute her for being Italian and illegitimate. Josephine s interaction with the other characters has brought this about. She faced quite a number of challenges in her final year. They include the arrival of Michael Andretti and her change of perspective and attitude towards Nonna Katia. In the beginning of the novel, Josephine s attitude towards Nonna was very atrocious. Despite the fact that she disliked Nonna, she still has to come to her house every afternoon after school. • 33. Social Learning Theory For this assignment, I will be studying social learning theory. Social learning theory was first proposed by Albert Bandura. It is a theory that emphasizes the importance of observing and modeling the behaviors, attitudes, and emotional reactions of others, ( Social Learning Theory, n.d.). There are three main hypotheses of social learning theory. First, the theory assumes that people can learn by observing others (Cherry, n.d.). Second, social learning theory builds on behaviorism by suggesting that intrinsic rewards can help a person learn or modify behavior. However, observation alone does not lead to a change in behavior. There are four main steps involved in whether the individual can learn based on observation. Those four steps include attention, retention, reproduction, and motivation (Cherry, n.d.). Social learning theory implies that cognitive processes (thought patterns) and environmental cues (the behavior of others that may be modeled) are important for learning. The assigned readings show that Bandura s original social learning theory was expanded on by other researchers like Akers. Akers suggested that the frequency, duration, intensity, and priority of the different associations individuals have with others also has a strong bearing on whether the individual learns to change his or her behavior (Cochran, 2011, p. 795). In other words, a child is more influenced by his or her parents because that child sees the parent often if not always (frequency and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Some of the events that happened in this movie relate to some of the material that we covered in class. One event that happened was when Jen and her family travels through the desert and were attacked by Lo and his Dark Cloud on horses. In my interpretation, I believe that Lo and his gang of bandits, displayed some similarities to The Mongols. As seen in the movie, they rode and fought on horses, were nomadic, and lived by raidings, which are things that Mongols are known for. They use horses for mobility and height against their enemies. Maybe some of the events were inaccurate because the director, Ang Lee, was Taiwanese or wasn t so sure about the concept, so instead of hitting it straight on the nail, he decided to put some inaccuracy into the film. The policy is of low cost to the state, brings in a large amount of revenue, and is relatively fair to the parties involved and affected.
