My name is Michael Baldwin, I am a senior at Framingham State University where I am studying
environmental science. The ecology class at the university was recently tasked with collecting water
quality data on Farm Pond. This memo intends to inform the town of Framingham of the data that was
collected, and how it might be analyzed to better understand the water quality and ecosystem health of
Farm Pond as it relates to recreational use.
Methods:
In order to assess the water quality of Farm Pond the class collected a variety of data. The class was
broken into groups which collected multiple types of data from different parts of the pond. Data was
collected from both littoral (area shallow enough for rooted vegetation) and limnetic (area too deep to
support rooted vegetation) zones in the pond.
In the littoral zone three groups collected data on water temperature, pH, water depth and biota.
Sampling was done along three transects, where samples were taken at 1,2,3 and 4 meters from shore.
Water pH was measured using standard pH paper as well as an electronic pH meter. Water temperature
was measured using a thermometer. Water depth was physically measured. Biota data included the
percentage of vegetative coverage in sample plots which was measured visually. In addition, samples

In recent decades, low income Americans have been facing the consequences of living in a country
whose criminal justice system is greatly influenced by skewed prosecution dynamics, and whose

Introduction to Masdar City
Masdar City, set out as an arcology project, a vision of architectural design principles and ecology,

that appears as science fiction due to it s main structure which minimizes individual human
environmental impact.
Built in Abu Dhabi, in the UAE, this project was funded by the government of Abu Dhabi and
designed by the British architectural firm Foster and Partners. The city will also host the headquarters
of the International Renewable Energy Agency, and is designed to be the center of clean technology
companies.
Masdar city is structured uniquely, and designed to be friendly to pedestrians and cyclists. Although it
looks like a cube from a distance, its closely aligned patterned design buildings allow for airflow in
the city which cools in down by 15 to 20 degree Celsius. The city itself relies on solar energy and
other renewable resources.
The initial design of the city banned automobiles, and their solutions for mobility include a public
mass transit and a personal rapid transit system, with existing road and railways leading to the city s
perimeter.

How My Husband And Step Mother s Culture Changed Within...
Have you ever wondered why someone act or feels the way they do? Many combined variables
develops the way a person acts and feels. These variables come from learning, watching and
experiencing different aspects of life. Ultimately, these experiences shape your behaviors and beliefs
creating your culture. What happens when you go to another country, state, city or neighborhood? Do
you act and behave like the people in these places? In the broad sense everyone acts the same in the
regards to surviving; however, the details of how they live can be very different. When you go to a
place outside you own culture, you will experience a change in culture. In this anthropology research,
I will take an ethnologist approach to how my husband and step mother s culture has changed within
the American society. I will give examples of how these cultures are similar and different in regards to
standard of living, education and employment opportunities. I will even discuss realities and problems
that exit. All together I will give you a look at what it is like to experience a culture change from
Mexico to America and the Philippines to America. My Husband is from a small village called El
Carrizal, Mexico. The language is Spanish. Mexico is different in the cities than in the country. The
cities have different living standards, work opportunities and college. I will be referring to my
husband s situation, coming from a small town perspective. Living is a small town means there are no

The Renaissance represented a new era in which values such as secularism and power became
prevalent in society. Machiavelli expresses the need for politics and religion to be separated
throughout his book The Prince . Previously rulers had been restricted by Christian principals, but
Machiavelli held the idea that rulers were warranted in any action so as long as it benefited the general
public. Machiavelli believed that politics existed outside the realm of religion and morals.

In The School of Athens a painting by Raphael, one of the most famous works from the time of the
renaissance, the artist includes figures such as Aristotle, Plato, Pythagoras, and Euclid representing the
great philosophers and mathematicians of antiquity. To the right Aristotle and Euclid are watched over

Entitled The Treachery of Images , the film makes reference to Magritte s infamous pipe painting,
reminding us that we should not necessarily believe in what we see and think, as deception lies in
every nook and cranny in our lives, meaning that nothing can truly be trusted. This is a modern and
novel nod to Othello, as the play itself is an adept exploration of the faces of good and evil, proving
the end point that nothing, and no one, are truly what they seem.
My vision re casts Othello as Oliver, a 20th century English Duke, who, despite his constant
questioning of the church and it s values, is appointed as mayor of a small village, leaving the
metropolitan haven of the city, and into a place where he is neither trusted nor accepted. With him
come his faithful and sweet wife, Dorothea, who married him against her heavily religious fathers
wishes, and his two sons, Ichabod and Charles. Whilst Oliver trusts, and supposedly favours, Ichabod,
Charles is far more successful than his brother, meaning he is named sole heir of the families wealth
and estate. For fair natured and trustworthy Ichabod, this would be a choice that he would support
wholly, however, a changling has taken his place, a curse put upon him by the God that he questions
so freely. Under the pretense of being Ichabod, the changeling begins to wreak havoc, coaxing Oliver
into pyschosis and convincing him that there is something Oedipal occuring between Charles and
Dorothea, and eventually causing Oliver to murder

Faith Daniel is a forty six year old Chinese female resident of Montgomery, Texas. Faith was born in
the Philippines. However, she is profoundly influenced by her Chinese ancestry. Faith has three
sisters. Faith has a teaching degree and has taught in the private school sector. She can speak English,
Mandarin, French, and knows sign language. Her ancestors moved from China to the Philippines due
to a World War. Male children are valued more in the Chinese culture than females because males
carry on the family name. Therefore, when Faith s mother was pregnant with her fourth female child
she was offered to trade her child with a cousin s male child. Faith s parents refused to give up their
daughter. The refusal to trade for a male baby was a significant disgrace for the family. Consequently,
her father moved his family to the United States of America where her mother instilled the importance
of education in each of her daughters. She considers her father s decision to move the family to the
United States of America as a significant event that shaped her life. She feels that she and her sisters
are much more educated than cousins that eventually moved to the country later in their lives. Faith
possesses a fascinating set of life experiences along with an intriguing Chinese culture that has
influenced her character. Faith s favorite childhood memories include Christmas time with her family.
