A Brief Note On The Uk And China
An Overview of DE in the UK and China
When discussing DE, the UK exemplifies both the history and success of DE because the
industrialization Revolution (IR) led the UK to pioneer the development of DE. Similarly, when
discussing DE development in China, the UK is the indispensable model of DE and the country to
appreciate. China could not have started DE in 1970s without the support and example of the UK s
DE system.
DE in the UK. Britain has a long history with DE. From the 1860s to the 1940s, British society was
significantly promoted by the IR. The rapid industrialization of the IR caused the need for a large
number of highly skilled workers, which is seen as the beginning of the appearance of DE.
Meanwhile, the techniques, which could realize distance communication, also matured. For
example, the advancement in the printing and publishing industry, the national postal service
system, the invention of steam locomotives, and the construction of railways provided the basic
communication cycle for correspondence education, which was the early stage of DE. Both the
social and technological environments for the emergence and development of the British DE
system began with these advancements.
The University Extension Movement in the UK. According to the British law in the early 1850s,
none university except the ones with Royal Special Permit could issue diplomas. According to the
British government requirements for university admission, the students needed to first apply for

Vivaldi, Monteverdi, Pachelbel, And Handel
There are three big periods of music. Theses periods are Baroque, Classical, and Romantic. In
these periods there where several different composers who helped shape that period. Here are
but a few in each of the period. In the Baroque period some composers are Vivaldi, Monteverdi,
Pachelbel, and Handel. There of course are many more as these are just four composers. First,
Vivaldi his full name is Antonio Lucio Vivaldi. Vivaldi was born in 1678 and grew to be an
Italian violinist and a composer. He was born with angina pectoris or chest pain due heart
disease of his heart not gaining enough oxygen, he was also born with asthma. Due to these
conditions he was known for running out of church, but he was also known to run out due to a
composition idea he would have. Once Vivaldi started to work he worked in a place called
Ospedal Della Pieta where he would teach women to play the violin. This place would later be
known as an orphanage since noble men would drop off the female children that they would
have with their mistresses and leave them there. The fathers of these girls helped pay the
orphanage as hush money to keep the knowledge silent. Vivaldi was known to work here for
several years on and off before he died in 1741 at the age of sixty three years old. Now another
composer was Pachelbel. He was a German composer fully named Johann Christoph Pachelbel. His
exact birthday is unknown, but he was born in the year 1653. Pachelbel wrote mainly for church
and for his

Urban Sustainability And Its Impact On The Environment
Introduction Urban sustainability is a very important topic that needs to be addressed and focused
on so that cities and communities all over the world can change and reduce their harmful impact on
the environment. In order to do so, communities must develop sustainably by focusing on how to
manage resources in a way that guarantees welfare and promotes equity of current and future
generations (Elmqvist, 2013). The impact of urbanization is only going to increase, so cities
around the world need to find the means to do it in the most environmentally friendly and
sustainable ways possible (Allen, 2009). Cities are a focus for sustainability because they are a hub
of human activity and development, production, and consumption of goods (Elmqvist, 2013).
Citizens and their governments need to embrace sustainability so they can secure the means of
survival, improve the quality of the community, protect the environment, maintain healthy citizens,
and to have pride in the legacy left for future generations (Roseland, 2012, p.3). A big issue for
urban areas in developed countries is that they have become less reliant on their surrounding areas
for sustenance and are increasingly importing consumer goods, food, energy, water, and building
material from distant sources (Allen, 2009). Waste is also being exported from urban areas to
distant regions (Allen, 2009). Cities and communities should try to be more sustainable and more
self reliant by using the surrounding areas to produce

Causes And Disadvantages Of Refugees
Explained below is a summary of the proposed plan, which entails a basic reasoning that refugees
will need to survive, including medical care, nutrition, water, sanitation services, shelter, education,
and jobs. Possessing access to medical attention protects and preserves the longevity of the
population while averting epidemics, diseases, and other harmful pathogens. If one s diet lacks
sufficient nutritional intake of fruits, vegetables, and other food varieties, they become deficient in
receiving essential amounts of vitamins and minerals necessary in fighting diseases. For example,
chronic deficiencies of vitaminA can lead to xeropthalmia and blindness in childhood, while iron
deficiency can lead to anemia, vitamin Cdeficiency leads to scurvy, niacin deficiency causes
pellagra, and thiamin deficiency results in beriberi (Food, Water, Sanitation, and Housing in
Refugee Camps, Para. 1, 2010). Furthermore, the access to fresh water provides minerals that also
fight these deficiencies . The quality of water is vital and an important health matter. When there is
a shortage of clean water there is a chance that the occurrence of bacteria that cause diarrhea and
cholera are present. Bacteria like, diarrhea most often results from the ingestion of pathogens from
excrement that has not been disposed of properly, or from the lack of hygiene (Who.int. 2011). By
implementing a plan to ensure that the water quality is safe is of utmost importance given the
numerous risks

Nonalcoholic Fatty Liver Disease Essay
Nonalcoholic Fatty Liver Disease, one of the most common liver disorders, can have several
causes, such as congenital, pharmaceutical, or other miscellaneous sources, but the most clinically
important etiology is metabolic disorder. Metabolic Disorder, also known as syndrome X, is a
collection of symptoms that occur in clusters, and cause a patient to have a higher risk of heart
disease, stroke, and diabetes. Metabolic syndrome has several hallmark signs. Many of these
conditions can occur alone, or secondary to another condition and do not individually point to
metabolic syndrome. These characteristic signs are a large waist circumference, high triglyceride
levels, reduced HDL cholesterol, increased blood pressure, and elevated fasting... Show more

The basic mechanism of steatosis is that insulin resistance causes increased lipid deposition in the
hepatocytes of the liver. This abnormal amount of fat causes cell death. When a hepatocyte
undergoes lysis, liver enzymes such as aminotransferases are released. This elevation of liver
enzymes in the bloodstream is a major sign of steatosis since most patients are asymptomatic at
this stage. It is important, however, to rule out the many causes of cell death that would have the
same presentation. As discussed in the research by Birkenfeld, the accumulation of fatty deposits
decreases the metabolic capacity of the liver, and causes inflammation of the hepatic tissue,
causing hepatomegaly. This deposit of triglycerides in the liver instead of the adipose tissue is
thought to be caused by altered levels of cellular products involved in the uptake of fatty acids.
While the concentrations of enzyme lipoprotein lipase, fatty acid transport proteins, and FAT
/CD36 are typically high enough in the muscle to cause lipid uptake into adipose tissue, it is
inhibited in insulin resistant NAFLD patients. Insulin plays a key role in the action of lipoprotein
lipase. Without insulin the normal uptake of lipids to adipose decreases, and their uptake in the
liver increases. This is shown by the disproportionally high level of lipoprotein lipase, fatty acid
transport proteins, and FAT/CD36 in the liver to the bodily adipose tissue. (3) Steatosis is the first
stage of NAFLD

The Miraculous Day of Amalia Gomez by John Rechy delves into the life of Amalia Gomez; a
Mexican American woman living in a poor rural area of Hollywood. The structure of her family
is falling apart due to conflict between the characters and Amalia s lack of involvement in their
lives. Her youngest son Juan is a male prostitute known as a maricГ“n , her daughter Gloria is
falling dangerously close to following in Amalia s footsteps, and her oldest son Manny although
well intentioned starts to clone his father s criminal tendencies even though he has no recollections

Teresa looks down upon Amalia because her moral values don t consist of remaining faithful to
a man that can provide for her no matter what she has to endure to keep a relationship. Teresa is
partially the cause of the psychological effects Amalia is haunted by from her past. When
Amalia tells her mother Teresa that she was raped by Salvador; whom would later become her
first husband, Teresa doesn t believe that her daughter was raped and forces Amalia and
Salvador to marry. Teresa often flaunts her religion to Amalia by stubbornly placing her statue of
La dolorosa, the Mother of Sorrows in a visible place in Amalia s home. Teresa puts down Amalia
and criticizes her life decisions and parenting skills. Teresa s constant disapproval contributes to the
psychological effects that lead to Amalia s bad sense of life priorities.
[relationship between Manny and Amalia] Due to her mother s perspective Amalia attempted to
instill higher moral standards upon her children. Her firstborn Manny had been the product of her
first marriage to Salvador and greatly represented his father although he had no recollection of him.

Challenges Base Applications In our base image we currently include into the image several
base applications, these are both baked into the actual image file and installed after the OS
utilizing a Task Sequence. With WICD we found it difficult and time consuming to utilize this
toolset to try and include all of our base applications into the provisioning pack process, due the
nature of the wrapper, applications having prompts that cannot be answered, and the nature of
these applications frequently changing a different solution is needed. What we found was that
instead of trying to include all of the base applications in the provisioning pack in and of itself
we only include the SCCM client and then we created an SCCM Task Sequence that can be
executed after the other tasks of the provisioning packs are completed and a Tech signs into the
device. If we wish to try and approach this by making the provisioning pack further inclusive it
will take a large time investment, both upfront and continually as the version of these applications
change every 3 6 months. Naming One of the steps in our imaging process today is to apply a
standard naming convention based on the chassis, OS, OS architecture, site code, and the last X of
the serial for randomization. Due to the complex nature of this convention it is not compatible with
the provisioning pack process. The naming convention was put into place to allow IT resources to
quickly discern relevant information around an

Trader Joe Essay
According to the textbook, Trader Joe is not a gourmet food store or a discount food store.
Trader Joe actually specializes in selling gourmet food at a discounted price. This store is also a
cultural experience. Trader Joe sells luxury things such as Organic Creamy Valencia peanut
butter, cage free eggs, and more. All of these gourmet food that is generally sold for high prices
are generally given away almost little to nothing. In order to sustain itself in the market, Trader
Joe puts its own special twist on the food price value. Their price value slogan is cheap gourmet .
Also, Joe s price incentive attracts devoted customers who love what they purchase from the prices
they pay. So what concept does Trader Joe utilize?
Trader Joe utilizes the concept of marketing strategy, though the element of prices. According to
the textbook on page 299, before setting a price, the company must decide on its overall
marketing strategy for the products or service . In this case a company s overall strategy is built
around its price and value story (300). For Joe Trader s example, Joe stations its prices around
what they offer, and charge for the product. Instead of selling the exclusive Charles Shaw wine
for its actual expensive price, it sells this product for only 2.99. This exceptional wine is even
nicknamed Two buck Chuck because of its low price deal. Trader Joe ensures what customers get

Tankless Research Paper
Many people switch over to tankless gas hot water heaters believing them to be more efficient
and energy saving. However, it is important to realize that while a tankless gas hot water heater
can be more energy efficient, they do not use significantly less energy than regular devises for
heating water. If you only switching to a tankless gas hot water heater to save some money, then
you will most likely be a bit disappointed.
On the other hand, many people have found that natural gas tankless heat the water faster than
regular heaters, especially if you purchase a high quality heater. Many of these cost well under
$1,000 if you purchase them online. If you are unfamiliar with particular brand names or models,
you may want to look up online reviews; many online ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If you purchase one that is too small, it will not adequately heat the water; if the heater is too large,
it will waste energy. On the other hand, many online retail websites post a blurb under the
thumbnail photo of the product, explaining the particulars of each tankless. Reading the description
can help you to see whether a particular model is suitable for your needs.
If you want to save a considerable amount of money, then you should consider installing the
tankless hot water heater on your own instead of having a professional come and do it for you. If
you have a bit of experience with DIY home improvement projects and the tools needed for the
job, you can actually install the tankless heater without professional assistance. You will need first
of all to shut off the water and gas supply. After that, remove the heater cover and screw the body
on to the wall. You will need to connect the water supply, hot water supply and gas supply line to
the heater, and you will want to test the heater out before putting the cover

The Civil Rights Act Of Selma And Taylor Branch s Novel...
The Epic March to Blacks Voting Rights The Civil Rights Act of 1964 legally banned
discrimination in the United States, but the struggle with racial tension continued to exist.
Blacks were still denied the right to vote, along with other numerous rights that whites had.
Obstacles like the literacy test and the poll tax made it almost impossible for blacks to vote.
Martin Luther King Jr., an influential figure in the civil rights movement, literally paved the
way for equality through efforts such as protests and marches. The march from Selma to
Montgomery was one of the most memorable marches led by King, and signified the blacks
desire for unhindered suffrage. The fictional movie Selma and Taylor Branch s novel The King
Years: Historic Moments in the Civil Rights Movement provide historical insight into King s
fight for civil rights. Selma, a fictional movie based on true events, debuted in 2014 and narrates
King s efforts to acquire voting rights for blacks. The movie mainly takes place in Selma,
Alabama, hence the movie s title. King rallied supporters in Selma to organize a march to
Montgomery, the capitol of Alabama. The movie primarily focuses on King and his supporters, and
their struggle against the racism of white oppressors. The fight was certainly not easy, and many
supporters in the march faced extreme discrimination and violence. Annie Lee Cooper, who played
a significant role in both the movie and the actual movement, had her voter registration form

Edward Jenner and the First Vaccine
Edward Jenner was born on May 17, 1749 Berkeley, Gloucestershire England. By the time Edward
was the age of eight years old he already showed an interest in bird and nature. When Edward was
thirteen years old he began an apprenticeship with surgeon Daniel Ludlow. He continued to study
Daniel Ludlow until the age of twenty one when he went to London to study under surgeon John
Hunter at St. George s hospital. After finishing his studies he returned to Berkley and ran his own
medical practice. In this era, surgeons were taught through apprenticing and physicians were
educated through universities. Edward Jennerreturned to school and in 1792 earned a medical
degree from the University of St. Andrews. In the 18th century Europe was plagued by a disease
called Small Pox. Small pox is caused by the virus variola; it enters through the lungs into the
blood system, infecting the organs. The virus then spreads to the skin where it multiplies causing
a rash, fever, headache, backache and vomiting. The rash begins small and grows bigger and
raised from the skin. Severe cases cause death from blood poisoning, other infections or internal
bleeding. There is no effective treatment once infected. If you were a survivor you were left with
terrible scars and sometimes blindness. Surviving small pox also made you immune so many
people were inoculated during this time. Edward Jenner was inoculated as a young boy then locked

Essay On Banning Books
Banned For as long as people have been printing their ideas onto paper, there has been conflict.
Anytime someone voices their opinion, there will be those who disagree. This is an
unavoidable truth. However, through the practice of banning books, it has been possible for
certain individuals to deny others their right to freely choose what they wish to read. The
banning of books has always been a way for small minded people to ensure that the ideas or
beliefs that oppose their own are kept secret, silent, hidden from the eyes of those who wish to
consider these ideas for themselves. This practice is an affront to our ideas as a nation, which
revolve closely around the ideas of individual freedoms, along with being an unfair system which
forces the ideas of one person onto those around them. It also keeps people from being exposed to
ideas... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This guarantees every individual the freedom to write and read what they choose. Yet in the
past twenty years, thousands of books have been challenged in almost every state. This
censorship is against the American ideals of individual freedom. While most censors intend to
protect others from things they consider objectionable (Time, p.85), they are still taking away
the rights of others to choose for themselves. The American Library Association has always
opposed censorship in libraries, and actively protests the banning of books ( ALA ). The ALA
sponsor Banned Books Week every year, in an attempt to bring attention to the censorship of
books across the United States. The ALA is firmly against the practice of banning, as Barbara
Jones, the director of ALA s office for Intellectual Freedom, said in this statement Using threats to
books to wage war on ideas that some may disagree with is offensive to the ALA, which embraces
the diversity of our nation as one of our greatest strengths.

Providing Your Puppy Or Dog With An Indoor Kennel Crate
Providing your puppy or dog with an indoor kennel crate can satisfy many dogs need for a den
like enclosure. Besides being an effective housebreaking tool (because it takes advantage of the
dog s natural reluctance to soil its sleeping place), it can also help to reduce separation anxiety, to
prevent destructive behavior (such as chewing furniture), to keep a puppyaway from potentially
dangerous household items (i.e., poisons, electrical wires, etc.), and to serve as a mobile indoor dog
house which can be moved from room to room whenever necessary.
A kennel crate also serves as a travel cabin for your dog when traveling by car or plane.
Additionally, most hotels which accept dogs on their premises require them to be crated while
in the room to prevent damage to hotel furniture and rugs. Furnishing Your Puppy s Crate: Toys
and Treats: Place your puppy s favorite toys and dog treats at the far end opposite the door
opening. These toys may include the Tuffy , Billy , Kong , Nylabone or a ball. Toys and balls
should always be inedible and large enough to prevent their being swallowed. Any fragmented
toys should be removed to prevent choking and internal obstruction. You may also place a
sterilized marrow bone filled with cheese or dog treats in the crate. Bedding: Place a towel or
blanket inside the crate to create a soft, comfortable bed for the puppy. If the puppy chews the
towel, remove it to prevent the pup from swallowing or choking on the pieces. Although most

Essay on The Most Effective Absolute Rulers
The Most Effective Absolute Rulers During the late 1400s and 1500s, many rulers took great
measures to centralize political power and place it in their own hands. This lead to the occurrence
of absolute monarchies, some of which I thought were overall very effective. In absolute
monarchies, theoretically the monarchis all powerful, with no legal limitations to his or her
authority. Absolutism in Europe was characteristically justified by the doctrine of divine right,
according to which the monarch reigns all powerfully by the will of God. The intention of
absolute monarchs is to utilize his or her power in an effective, better organized way, despite its
weaknesses or negative consequences; and from my perspective, I would have to say... Show more

He also increased the size of the army, gave soldiers better training and introduced new weapons

all he was a very good man and effective ruler. If it were not for Louis XIV, France would be a
very different place today. I m surprised he is responsible for many elegant buildings in France
and especially Paris. Despite all the wrong things he did that hurt his nation, I think it could have
probably gotten worse if he had not come along. Even today it interests me that Louis s armies,
that were opposed by an alliance of the European powers, lost most of their major battles, but won
control of Spain.
For my part, Frederick the Great В– a great general as well as a skilled absolute monarch В– was
one of the most effective absolute monarchs of his time. I think he was an effective absolute
monarch because of his contribution to the small but militarily powerful German state of Prussia in
becoming an absolute monarchy. The rise of Prussia between 1600s and 1700s occurred as a result
of a combination of military, political, and social factors lead by Frederick s contribution. I chose
Frederick II as a great effective absolute monarch based on his actions that affected his people. He
did many great things for the significance of his absolute monarchy. Frederick II of Prussia made
reforms and changes that were ideas of the Enlightenment. He wanted to further his country and

Opioid Receptors
Most opioid drugs will elicit these analgesic effects through the activation of the opioid receptor
(McDonald Lambert, 2005). The currently available drugs that interact with opioid receptors
include morphine, codeine and naloxone. A
Opioid receptors are members of the G protein coupled receptors (GPCRs) family, which
consists of 7 transmembrane domains linked together by 3 extracellular and 3 intracellular loops
(Trescot et al., 2008). The three different classes of opioid receptors are: opioid receptor, opioid
receptor and opioid receptor, which are distributed throughout the central and peripheral nervous
systems (Trescot et al., 2008). opioid receptors are associated with analgesia, euphoria and
physical dependence and are predominately located in the brainstem and thalamus (Trescot et al.,
2008). opioid receptors, on the other hand, are primarily found in limbic brain topography, brain
stem and spinal cord, and are related to dysphoria and analgesia (Trescot et al., 2008). Although
opioid receptor mechanisms are poorly understood, it has been indicated to also have
psychomimetic effects (Trescot et al., 2008).
Opioid receptors act through second messenger system, which eventually leads to the activation of

The Last Dynasty Of Isin
From 1975 to 1954 BCE, Iddin Dagan ruled the city of Isin, which is located a little south of
Nippur. Iddin Dagan is loved by the gods, especially An, Enki, and Enlil. Because these three gods
favored Iddin Dagan, he was able to have a successful ruling, filled with abundance of agriculture, a
population increase, and a strong military presence. Ultimately, this shows that religion fuels power,
and without a strong religious presence the ruler would not have an impactful kingship, which truly
benefits the people of his realm.
Isin is the last dynasty that is mentioned in the Sumerian King List. Iddin Dagan was the third king
of the first dynasty of Isin. During the twentieth and nineteenth centuries, decentralizing forces
were strong, which led to an increasing number of local dynasties to come to power, such as the
Isin dynasty (Vdm, 90, document 5.2). The dynasty of Isin was started by Ishbi Erra, when he
freed the city of Ur and brought the local dynasty to Isin. Ishbi Erra continued a lot of the same
practices of the Ur III dynasty in the Isin dynasty.
This document, A Praise Poem of Iddin Dagan, is considered Sumerian royal praise poetry, which

Reasons for the Decline of the Parallel Cinema Movement in...
It is an arduous task to single out one specific reason accountable for the decline of the parallel
cinema movement in India. There are numerous inextricable technological as well as economic
factors involved. A decade of 1980 to 2000 in India saw radical economic and technological
transformations. This was the period when Doordarshan exponentially expanded its network for the
upcoming Asian Games in 1982 and colour televisiontook birth. More importantly, this was also the
period when the policy of economic liberalisation was launched. The liberalisation policy put an
end to Doordarshan s monopoly over broadcasting allowing the entry of satellite television. Shrewd
media moguls like Rupert Murdoch and Summer Redstone hastened to get a toehold in an emerging
economy that promised to become a burgeoning media market. In 1995, commercial internet came
to India, and took off rapidly enough to enable a dot com boom. Both satellite TV and internet
captured the attention of the growing urban middle class eager for more media choice. These
technological changes induced by digitisation changed media habits and concurrently transformed
and took over both the production and exhibition of cinema. Large number of new players entered
in filmproduction and the exhibition of films unlike earlier were not only restricted to theatres but
were simultaneously exhibited and promoted by satellite TV and the web.

Feed Book Report
Feed is another zombie book that answers the question: What would happen to the news if the
dead rose. The angle they took was blogging; people became professional bloggers, and no one
would follow the major news because they were too slow. While CNN would potentially be saying
man from car crash rises and starts biting people while the blogwould say is this the first zombie
and a few people would start buying water and non perishable food. Similarly Fox is saying, The
Dead are Rising and the blog would be saying Zombies have risen and here is where you can get

Jeeps-A way of Life Since 1941
The very first Jeep was created in 1941. This Jeep was known as the Military Bantam AKA the
MB Jeep. The United States Department of War needed a new light, cross country, reconnaissance
vehicle. Therefore an American automobile company called Willy s Overland and Motors created
the Army s new vehicle. This vehicle was a 2.2L engine, 4 wheel drive, 2 door, with a 3 speed
manual transmission Jeep. The Willy s Jeep another name for the MB was also a Вј ton vehicle that
was the top of the line military technology. Jeeps were essential to transportation of military
soldiers and equipment to designated spots. With this amazing help of the Jeep, the army was
getting to its peak in World War II. Jeeps grabbed my attention and interest because not only do I
own one, but I believe the iconic history of Jeeps is amazing. It amazes me that this small vehicle
can have such a huge impact on history as becoming the World War II Vehicle . Jeeps have
inspired other similar light utility vehicles and are the oldest off road vehicleever made. Jeeps also
have a huge impact on today s modern society. Jeeps bring society together. Jeep people have a
slang term for themselves called Jeepers . Within today s society there are Jeep Clubs. The
aftermath of the Military Bantam Jeep, the Civilian Jeep, was another start to the legacy of Jeeps.
In 1944 the CJ was brought to life with in the Jeep world. Along with all of its other brothers in

The Evolution Of The Bible
The evolution of the Bible begins one hundred and fifty years after Jesus birth with Marcion of
Pontus, a Christian theologian and heretic. He was a faithful Christian but was dissatisfied with the
Jewish scripture because he believed that the God in the Old Testament was too harsh and
legalistic. The God in the Hebrew Biblewas not the same God depicted by Jesuswas the God that he
believed in. Without the churches consent, Marcion removed all traces of the Hebrew text (the Old
Testament) from his bible. Of course, at the time, people did not take well to his alteration but he
was a catalyst for the evolution of the Christian bible we know today. Many individuals wanted
to create a solid standing bible that could represent their faith but it was difficult to decide
because of hundreds of manuscripts in circulation around 150 A.D. Not until a century later
would an official book be created. Constantine emerged triumphant in a series of civil wars
against the emperors Maxentius and Licinius to become sole ruler of both west and east. At one
of the battles, legend has it that he had a vision of a cross and that Jesus spoke to him saying In
my name, conquer . His victory and vision is said to be the leading cause for his passion of the
Christian faith. At the time, Rome held many different religious beliefs, mostly Christian subsets.
Because there wasn t one unified religion, Constantine made it his mission to bring his people
together. Because there was so much diversity,

Jane Austen s Novel And True Classic Sense And Sensibility
There are many authors whose works are considered to be classics; perhaps the most influential is
Jane Austen. Jane Austen wrote six novels, that in today s world, we call classics. Her first novel
and true classic Sense and Sensibility, was published in 1811 at a time when the world was just
starting to write full length novels. Though Jane Austenonly lived to be forty one, she contributed
much too modern literature; such as being one of the first major authors to make use of the three
volume novel, and to use chapters within the volumes (Sweeton). One of the many reasons as to
why Jane Austen s novels are considered classics is due to the fact that she wrote about real
social and financial issues of the day; however, financial and social issues are timeless, therefore
they are still relevant in today s world. As one follows along with the Dashwood sisters in Sense
and Sensibility, we see how the title of the story is very fitting; by providing one sister with sense
and the other with sensibility, the story has two different dynamics that create a timeless classic.
Born in 1775, Jane Austen grew up in a time when the dynamics of the world were constantly
changing. Jane Austen was born in Steventon a village of Hampshire England, to a large family
that consisted of seven other children (Jane Austen). Having an interest in writing since a young
age, one of her first works of writing was a novella titled Lady Susan, a story written in epistle form

Tort Law Of Negligence In Nursing Care
A tort law is a collection of rights, obligations and remedies used by courts in civil procedures
that provide relief to victims of legal, economic or physical harm. The tort of negligence is civil
wrongs brought by one s failure to exercise care against risks known to cause potential harm. It
involves three elements of duty of care, breach of duty, and resultant damage (McDonald, 2014).
First on all, the duty of care is the obligation to avoid acts or omissions, which are reasonably
foreseeable to cause damage to another. The breach of duty means failure to exercise proper care.

Oedipus As A Great Representation Of Aristotle s...
Oedipus is regarded as a great representation of Aristotle s characterization of the tragic hero. He is
able to accomplish this task because of his ability to demonstrate virtue of wisdom regardless of the
flaws and the challenges he endures.
Introduction
Aristotle demonstrated the creation of a plot in literature. The method Aristotle adopted to create a
plot involved the use of tight nexus of ignorance whereby the word Harmatia was mistranslated.
The technique of plot creation enables an author to come up with a realistic illustration to
demonstrate a real life experience. A realistic tragic story should not have tragic pleasure. The
nature of a tragic story lacking the ability to change the order of events enables the readers not to
experience emotional distancing
The way Sophocles Oedipus exemplifies the definition of a tragic hero by Aristotle s is broad.
According to Sophocles Oedipus, the definition of Aristotle hero is viewed as someone of a high
position who is of valuable qualities in terms of character and moral values. The person does not
commit mistakes of his own. Aristotle s defines tragedy as a very important act done as results of
sympathy, and fear (Peter, 2005). Tragedy hero is also described as a person of nobility during
birth that brings about certain flaws that would results to his failure. The situation is referred to as
Harmatia. It is also indicated that true tragic hero also go through peripeteia. It is also revealed

Winfield Scott Essay
Abstract
Winfield Scott was a true American hero. Serving in 3 wars and numerous other battles and
conflicts, he left a legacy that was talked about for over 5 decades. He served in the War of 1812,
the Mexican War, and the Civil War. He began his military career and advanced quickly in the
ranks. He was a formidable leader and very studious in military tactics. A big man, he stood at 61
/2 feet tall, and demanded respect both when in uniform and without. He was referred to as Old
Fuss and Feathers because of his regard for military procedures and wear of military uniforms. He

At the age of twenty six, Scott harshly described and ridiculed the officers and soldiers of that era
by writing:
The army of that day, including its general staff, the three old and the nine new regiments,
presented no pleasing aspect. The old officers had very generally sunk into either sloth, ignorance,
or habits of intemperate drinkingВ…. Many of the appointments were positively bad, and a
majority of the remainder indifferent. Party spirit of that day knew no bounds, and of course was
blind to policy. Federalists were almost entirely excluded from selection, though great numbers were
eager for the field, and in New England and some other States there were but very few educated
Republicans; hence the selections from those communities consisted mostly of coarse and ignorant
men. In the other States, where there was no lack of educated men in the dominant party, the
appointments consisted generally of swaggerers, dependants, decayed gentlemen, and others, В‘fit
for nothing else , which always turned out utterly unfit for any military purpose whatever (Harbert,
1986).
This would become the basis for how Winfield Scott commanded soldiers, and became known for
his views on military strategy. During the War of 1812, many officers and enlisted men lived up to
the description that Scott placed on them. One such officer was Major General Henry Dearborn,
who was in command of the campaign against Canada. Dearborn was old and very

Neighbours By Tim Winton Analysis
An individual s growth is induced by their experiences of and response to discovery. The extent of
their discovery is determined by their will to embrace the process and the connections made.
Discoveries can provoke unexpected emotive responses, as did the journey undertaken by the
participants in Ivan O Mahoney s documentary Go Back To Where You Came From. Else, they
may result in the desire to re evaluate perceptions of the world, made evident in Tim Winton s short

The Problem Of Analysing Behaviours In Video Has Been The
The problem of analysing behaviours in video has been the focus of several researchers efforts and
several systems have been described in the literature. Action recognition is the process of labelling
image sequences with action labels. The task is challenging due to variations in motion
performance, recording settings and inter object differences. Generally, the action recognition
process can be divided into two steps 1st feature extraction and representation and 2nd action class
prediction. The first step deals with the extraction and encoding of features to describe motions of
interest. Multiple features might be extracted for motion modelling prediction. Many techniques
have been used in this step including parametric models,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Local feature methods are entirely based on descriptors of local regions in a video, no prior
knowledge about human positioning nor of any of its limbs is given. In the following subsections,
these categories are discussed in further. Fig 7: Action recognition methods
6.1 Human Model Based Methods
Human model based methods recognize actions by employing information such as body part
positions and movements. A significant amount of research is dedicated to action recognition using
trajectories of joint positions, body parts, or landmark points on the human body with or without a
prior model of human kinematics. Approaches in this field depend on a previous psychophysical
work on visual interpretation of biological motion. This work shows that humans are able to
recognize actions from the motion of a few moving light displays attached to the human body.
The localization of body parts in movies has been investigated in the past and some works have
shown impressive results. However in general, the detection of body parts is a difficult problem in
itself, and results are still limited especially for the case of realistic and less constrained video.
Some recent approaches try to improve their results by assuming particular motion patterns, hence
improving body parts tracking. However, this also limits their application to action

deafness, and 60% with blindness. In Rocco s (1997) research, faculty questioned the existence of
certain conditions or if they existed, the appropriateness of classifying the condition as a disability

One reason for the variance is misidentification. African Americans and Hispanics are often
inappropriately diagnosed with LD, such as speakers of African American English whose

also the unresolved question yet persistent belief that one half of all adults with low literacy skills in
fact have learning disabilities (Gerber and Reiff 1994, p. 121).
Successful Adjustment for Adults with LD
Adults with LD may face challenges in several areas of life, including education, employment, daily
routines, and social interactions. However, many are able to make successful life adjustments.
Research has recently been directed toward learning what factors help these adults succeed. Most of
these studies used such measures of success as educational attainment, income, job level, and job
and life satisfaction. Success was influenced by educational experiences and personal characteristics

elementary secondary education; quality of postsecondary education, training, and services; and a
shift from a remedial to a compensatory approach in special education (Gerber and Reiff 1994).

Female Issues Affecting The Indian Society Essay
Abstract
The age old problem of female related issues affecting the Indian society adversely continues to
exist today in the 21st century. The advancement of new age, technology, scientific inventions,
standard of life, and change in life style has failed to bring in change of the mindset. The problem
of female infanticide in India seems to be persistent. The alarming records collected by local,
regional, national and international bodies only reflect the drastic decline in the male female ratio.
The matter is of serious concern and what is required is not only law but the change that each one
has to bring in understanding that when Nature was impartial in evolving man and woman, why
has the society then brought about gender discrimination.
This paper is an attempt to discuss the present and future repercussions faced due to female
infanticide. Since the society is reflected through literature, art and fiction, the writer has made an

both those main reasons. Other reasons were because of the little food provided from the
grandmother, Olivia. She also locked Cathy, Carrie, Cory, and Christopher in the attic. Maybe,
maybe even a week, no longer, possibly much less time I just don t know exactly (Andrews, 41).
The mother promised she would come back, but she left them in the attic for almost four years,
and she came sometimes to check on the children, but she was too caught up in making her dad
write her in his will that she no longer cared for her children. The incest between Corrine and
Chris caused lashes on her back from her mother, Olivia. I stared at the ladder of bloody welts on
Momma s back (Andrews, 76). The grandmother is completely dedicated to the bible and

The American With Disabilities Act
The American with Disabilities Act was signed into law on July 26, 1990, by President George
H.W. Bush. (Mayerson, 1992). According to Hallahan, Kauffman, Pullen (2015, P, 14) the ADA
provides protection of the civil rights in the specific areas of employment, transportation, public,
accommodation, State and local government, and telecommunication. According to Mayerson
(1992, P1) the ADA did not began at the signing ceremony at the White House, but it began in the
communities, when parents with children with disabilities began to fight against the exclusion and
segregation of the children . The foundation of the ADA, is the disabilityrights movement. The
disability movement fought for the rights of the people with disability. According to Mayerson
(1992, P, 1) The disability rights movement, has made the injustices faced by the people with
disabilities visible to the American public and politicians. Without the contribution of the
disabilities rights movement there would not have been an ADA. Like the civil rights movement
before the people with disabilities sat in federal buildings, marched through the streets to protest
the injustice. Also, they sought justice in the courts (Mayerson, 1992). According to Mayerson
(1992, P 2) From a legal perspective, a profound and historic shift in the disability public policy
occurred in the 1973 with the passage of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act . Section 504 is the
U.S federal law that protect the people with

West Hollywood Demographic Analysis
Complete with rainbow sidewalks, quirky boutiques, and flashy bars, West Hollywood is
renowned for its active party culture, catering to Los Angeles s LGBT community in particular. For
our project, we will focus on the demographic centered around Santa Monica Boulevard, where the
majority of the social activities take place. We plan to study the current linguistic characteristics of
West Hollywood and how they relate to culture at large. As heterosexuals and citizens who don t
identify fully with the LGBTcommunity flock into the neighborhood, the community maintains its
unique linguistic qualities, unphased by those who move in who aren t familiar with the traditional
WeHo lifestyle. West Hollywood is still changing today, but still contains

The profits from the popular movies were used to build rows and rows of apartments in the
Sherman area to provide affordable housing to the movie actors and the extended families of the
immigrants (www.gaywesthollywood.com). This caused another huge boom in the population.
Films were also being made to the east of Sherman in Hollywood, so rich benefactors were living
to the west of Sherman in Beverly Hills which added to the stimulation of the economy. Also,
gambling was illegal in the city of Los Angeles, but legal in this part of Los Angeles County.
These are some of the reasons why the 1920s saw the proliferation of many casinos, nightclubs,
and more in the West Hollywood area. So since Sherman was still an unincorporated area and less
restrictive than the Hollywood or the Beverly Hills areas, lavishing nightclubs like Trocadero,
Mocambo, and Ciro s sprouted up on Sunset Boulevard to cater to the entertainment needs of the
movie industry. All of a sudden the Sunset Strip became a place where the celebrities came to
party. These Sunset Boulevard clubs allowed performers to bend gender and sexual roles, which
was something that was not tolerated in the other nearby incorporated

A Brief Note On The Uk And China An Overview of DE in the UK and China When discussing DE, the UK exemplifies both the history and success of DE because the industrialization Revolution (IR) led the UK to pioneer the development of DE. Similarly, when discussing DE development in China, the UK is the indispensable model of DE and the country to appreciate. China could not have started DE in 1970s without the support and example of the UK s DE system. DE in the UK. Britain has a long history with DE. From the 1860s to the 1940s, British society was significantly promoted by the IR. The rapid industrialization of the IR caused the need for a large number of highly skilled workers, which is seen as the beginning of the appearance of DE. Meanwhile, the techniques, which could realize distance communication, also matured. For example, the advancement in the printing and publishing industry, the national postal service system, the invention of steam locomotives, and the construction of railways provided the basic communication cycle for correspondence education, which was the early stage of DE. Both the social and technological environments for the emergence and development of the British DE system began with these advancements. The University Extension Movement in the UK. • 3. Vivaldi, Monteverdi, Pachelbel, And Handel There are three big periods of music. Theses periods are Baroque, Classical, and Romantic. In these periods there where several different composers who helped shape that period. Here are but a few in each of the period. In the Baroque period some composers are Vivaldi, Monteverdi, Pachelbel, and Handel. There of course are many more as these are just four composers. First, Vivaldi his full name is Antonio Lucio Vivaldi. Vivaldi was born in 1678 and grew to be an Italian violinist and a composer. He was born with angina pectoris or chest pain due heart disease of his heart not gaining enough oxygen, he was also born with asthma. Due to these conditions he was known for running out of church, but he was also known to run out due to a composition idea he would have. Once Vivaldi started to work he worked in a place called Ospedal Della Pieta where he would teach women to play the violin. • 5. Urban Sustainability And Its Impact On The Environment Introduction Urban sustainability is a very important topic that needs to be addressed and focused on so that cities and communities all over the world can change and reduce their harmful impact on the environment. In order to do so, communities must develop sustainably by focusing on how to manage resources in a way that guarantees welfare and promotes equity of current and future generations (Elmqvist, 2013). The impact of urbanization is only going to increase, so cities around the world need to find the means to do it in the most environmentally friendly and sustainable ways possible (Allen, 2009). Cities are a focus for sustainability because they are a hub of human activity and development, production, and consumption of goods (Elmqvist, 2013). Citizens and their governments need to embrace sustainability so they can secure the means of survival, improve the quality of the community, protect the environment, maintain healthy citizens, and to have pride in the legacy left for future generations (Roseland, 2012, p.3). A big issue for urban areas in developed countries is that they have become less reliant on their surrounding areas for sustenance and are increasingly importing consumer goods, food, energy, water, and building material from distant sources (Allen, 2009). Waste is also being exported from urban areas to distant regions (Allen, 2009). Cities and communities should try to be more sustainable and more self reliant by using the surrounding areas to produce ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Causes And Disadvantages Of Refugees Explained below is a summary of the proposed plan, which entails a basic reasoning that refugees will need to survive, including medical care, nutrition, water, sanitation services, shelter, education, and jobs. Possessing access to medical attention protects and preserves the longevity of the population while averting epidemics, diseases, and other harmful pathogens. If one s diet lacks sufficient nutritional intake of fruits, vegetables, and other food varieties, they become deficient in receiving essential amounts of vitamins and minerals necessary in fighting diseases. For example, chronic deficiencies of vitaminA can lead to xeropthalmia and blindness in childhood, while iron deficiency can lead to anemia, vitamin Cdeficiency leads to scurvy, niacin deficiency causes pellagra, and thiamin deficiency results in beriberi (Food, Water, Sanitation, and Housing in Refugee Camps, Para. 1, 2010). Furthermore, the access to fresh water provides minerals that also fight these deficiencies . The quality of water is vital and an important health matter. When there is a shortage of clean water there is a chance that the occurrence of bacteria that cause diarrhea and cholera are present. Bacteria like, diarrhea most often results from the ingestion of pathogens from excrement that has not been disposed of properly, or from the lack of hygiene (Who.int. 2011). By implementing a plan to ensure that the water quality is safe is of utmost importance given the numerous risks ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Nonalcoholic Fatty Liver Disease Essay Nonalcoholic Fatty Liver Disease, one of the most common liver disorders, can have several causes, such as congenital, pharmaceutical, or other miscellaneous sources, but the most clinically important etiology is metabolic disorder. Metabolic Disorder, also known as syndrome X, is a collection of symptoms that occur in clusters, and cause a patient to have a higher risk of heart disease, stroke, and diabetes. Metabolic syndrome has several hallmark signs. Many of these conditions can occur alone, or secondary to another condition and do not individually point to metabolic syndrome. These characteristic signs are a large waist circumference, high triglyceride levels, reduced HDL cholesterol, increased blood pressure, and elevated fasting... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The basic mechanism of steatosis is that insulin resistance causes increased lipid deposition in the hepatocytes of the liver. This abnormal amount of fat causes cell death. When a hepatocyte undergoes lysis, liver enzymes such as aminotransferases are released. This elevation of liver enzymes in the bloodstream is a major sign of steatosis since most patients are asymptomatic at this stage. It is important, however, to rule out the many causes of cell death that would have the same presentation. As discussed in the research by Birkenfeld, the accumulation of fatty deposits decreases the metabolic capacity of the liver, and causes inflammation of the hepatic tissue, causing hepatomegaly. This deposit of triglycerides in the liver instead of the adipose tissue is thought to be caused by altered levels of cellular products involved in the uptake of fatty acids. While the concentrations of enzyme lipoprotein lipase, fatty acid transport proteins, and FAT /CD36 are typically high enough in the muscle to cause lipid uptake into adipose tissue, it is inhibited in insulin resistant NAFLD patients. Insulin plays a key role in the action of lipoprotein lipase. Without insulin the normal uptake of lipids to adipose decreases, and their uptake in the liver increases. This is shown by the disproportionally high level of lipoprotein lipase, fatty acid transport proteins, and FAT/CD36 in the liver to the bodily adipose tissue. With WICD we found it difficult and time consuming to utilize this toolset to try and include all of our base applications into the provisioning pack process, due the nature of the wrapper, applications having prompts that cannot be answered, and the nature of these applications frequently changing a different solution is needed. What we found was that instead of trying to include all of the base applications in the provisioning pack in and of itself we only include the SCCM client and then we created an SCCM Task Sequence that can be executed after the other tasks of the provisioning packs are completed and a Tech signs into the device. If we wish to try and approach this by making the provisioning pack further inclusive it will take a large time investment, both upfront and continually as the version of these applications change every 3 6 months. The Epic March to Blacks Voting Rights The Civil Rights Act of 1964 legally banned discrimination in the United States, but the struggle with racial tension continued to exist. Blacks were still denied the right to vote, along with other numerous rights that whites had. Obstacles like the literacy test and the poll tax made it almost impossible for blacks to vote. Martin Luther King Jr., an influential figure in the civil rights movement, literally paved the way for equality through efforts such as protests and marches. The march from Selma to Montgomery was one of the most memorable marches led by King, and signified the blacks desire for unhindered suffrage. The fictional movie Selma and Taylor Branch s novel The King Years: Historic Moments in the Civil Rights Movement provide historical insight into King s fight for civil rights. This is an unavoidable truth. However, through the practice of banning books, it has been possible for certain individuals to deny others their right to freely choose what they wish to read. The banning of books has always been a way for small minded people to ensure that the ideas or beliefs that oppose their own are kept secret, silent, hidden from the eyes of those who wish to consider these ideas for themselves. The currently available drugs that interact with opioid receptors include morphine, codeine and naloxone. A Opioid receptors are members of the G protein coupled receptors (GPCRs) family, which consists of 7 transmembrane domains linked together by 3 extracellular and 3 intracellular loops (Trescot et al., 2008). The three different classes of opioid receptors are: opioid receptor, opioid receptor and opioid receptor, which are distributed throughout the central and peripheral nervous systems (Trescot et al., 2008). opioid receptors are associated with analgesia, euphoria and physical dependence and are predominately located in the brainstem and thalamus (Trescot et al., 2008). opioid receptors, on the other hand, are primarily found in limbic brain topography, brain stem and spinal cord, and are related to dysphoria and analgesia (Trescot et al., 2008). Although opioid receptor mechanisms are poorly understood, it has been indicated to also have psychomimetic effects (Trescot et al., 2008). • 22. Reasons for the Decline of the Parallel Cinema Movement in... It is an arduous task to single out one specific reason accountable for the decline of the parallel cinema movement in India. There are numerous inextricable technological as well as economic factors involved. A decade of 1980 to 2000 in India saw radical economic and technological transformations. This was the period when Doordarshan exponentially expanded its network for the upcoming Asian Games in 1982 and colour televisiontook birth. More importantly, this was also the period when the policy of economic liberalisation was launched. The liberalisation policy put an end to Doordarshan s monopoly over broadcasting allowing the entry of satellite television. Shrewd media moguls like Rupert Murdoch and Summer Redstone hastened to get a toehold in an emerging economy that promised to become a burgeoning media market. In 1995, commercial internet came to India, and took off rapidly enough to enable a dot com boom. Both satellite TV and internet captured the attention of the growing urban middle class eager for more media choice. These technological changes induced by digitisation changed media habits and concurrently transformed and took over both the production and exhibition of cinema. Large number of new players entered in filmproduction and the exhibition of films unlike earlier were not only restricted to theatres but were simultaneously exhibited and promoted by satellite TV and the web. Therefore an American automobile company called Willy s Overland and Motors created the Army s new vehicle. This vehicle was a 2.2L engine, 4 wheel drive, 2 door, with a 3 speed manual transmission Jeep. The Willy s Jeep another name for the MB was also a Вј ton vehicle that was the top of the line military technology. Jeeps were essential to transportation of military soldiers and equipment to designated spots. With this amazing help of the Jeep, the army was getting to its peak in World War II. Jeeps grabbed my attention and interest because not only do I own one, but I believe the iconic history of Jeeps is amazing. It amazes me that this small vehicle can have such a huge impact on history as becoming the World War II Vehicle . Jeeps have inspired other similar light utility vehicles and are the oldest off road vehicleever made. Jeeps also have a huge impact on today s modern society. Jeeps bring society together. Jeep people have a slang term for themselves called Jeepers . Within today s society there are Jeep Clubs. He was a faithful Christian but was dissatisfied with the Jewish scripture because he believed that the God in the Old Testament was too harsh and legalistic. The God in the Hebrew Biblewas not the same God depicted by Jesuswas the God that he believed in. Without the churches consent, Marcion removed all traces of the Hebrew text (the Old Testament) from his bible. Of course, at the time, people did not take well to his alteration but he was a catalyst for the evolution of the Christian bible we know today. Many individuals wanted to create a solid standing bible that could represent their faith but it was difficult to decide because of hundreds of manuscripts in circulation around 150 A.D. Not until a century later would an official book be created. Constantine emerged triumphant in a series of civil wars against the emperors Maxentius and Licinius to become sole ruler of both west and east. At one of the battles, legend has it that he had a vision of a cross and that Jesus spoke to him saying In my name, conquer . His victory and vision is said to be the leading cause for his passion of the Christian faith. At the time, Rome held many different religious beliefs, mostly Christian subsets. • 27. Jane Austen s Novel And True Classic Sense And Sensibility There are many authors whose works are considered to be classics; perhaps the most influential is Jane Austen. Jane Austen wrote six novels, that in today s world, we call classics. Her first novel and true classic Sense and Sensibility, was published in 1811 at a time when the world was just starting to write full length novels. Though Jane Austenonly lived to be forty one, she contributed much too modern literature; such as being one of the first major authors to make use of the three volume novel, and to use chapters within the volumes (Sweeton). One of the many reasons as to why Jane Austen s novels are considered classics is due to the fact that she wrote about real social and financial issues of the day; however, financial and social issues are timeless, therefore they are still relevant in today s world. As one follows along with the Dashwood sisters in Sense and Sensibility, we see how the title of the story is very fitting; by providing one sister with sense and the other with sensibility, the story has two different dynamics that create a timeless classic. Born in 1775, Jane Austen grew up in a time when the dynamics of the world were constantly changing. Jane Austen was born in Steventon a village of Hampshire England, to a large family that consisted of seven other children (Jane Austen). The method Aristotle adopted to create a plot involved the use of tight nexus of ignorance whereby the word Harmatia was mistranslated. The technique of plot creation enables an author to come up with a realistic illustration to demonstrate a real life experience. A realistic tragic story should not have tragic pleasure. Generally, the action recognition process can be divided into two steps 1st feature extraction and representation and 2nd action class prediction.
