Community Development Essay
Crafting an essay on the subject of community development is no easy feat. It demands a deep
understanding of the multifaceted nature of communities, their dynamics, and the various
factors influencing their growth. The difficulty lies not only in researching and presenting facts
but also in weaving together a coherent narrative that addresses the complexities inherent in
community development.
To begin with, one must delve into the extensive literature surrounding community development,
covering topics ranging from sociology and urban planning to economics and environmental
studies. The challenge is to synthesize this diverse information into a cohesive and insightful
essay that goes beyond mere regurgitation of facts.
Moreover, tackling the subject requires a nuanced approach, considering the unique
characteristics of each community. It necessitates the ability to analyze the historical context,
socio-economic factors, cultural nuances, and political landscapes that shape a community's
trajectory. Balancing these elements while maintaining a clear and engaging writing style adds
another layer of difficulty to the task.
The need for critical thinking and analytical skills becomes evident when attempting to propose
viable solutions or recommendations for community development. Crafting meaningful insights
and actionable suggestions requires a deep understanding of the challenges faced by communities
and the ability to think creatively about potential interventions.
In essence, writing an essay on community development demands not only a thorough
understanding of the subject matter but also the skills to navigate through the complexities and
present a well-structured and persuasive argument. It is a task that goes beyond surface-level
analysis, requiring a commitment to delving into the intricacies of community dynamics.

Recycling Is It Working
Recycling: Is it Working?
The affluent, fast paced, throwaway American culture is producing trash on a
stupendous scale. (Young,Mitchell page 14). We are living in a plastic universe,
and very unaware. The problem with plastic, is how frequently it is being used, and
having no true way of disposing it. The fibers of plastic are in just about everything
on Earth, not only is it sitting inside the Earth, it is in everything surrounding us.
There is plastic materials in food containers, make up, fuel, and so much more.
Using science, and technology, we need to find new ways of disposing unwanted
shreds of plastic, and other recyclables. Recycling might not get rid of all the issues
growing with global warming, but being aware of what is being ... Show more content

The recycling system most of America uses, is flawed, like the majority of any
type of system, used in America. The main type of recycling companies, use
machines that sort through the different types of plastic, then proceeds to be
melted or crushed into one hunk of plastic. (Terry,Beth page 73) On the contrary,
the plastic we recycle, does not stay in the U.S.A, we send it to China, to then be
used to resell back to us ( Made in China: Our Toxic, Imported Air Pollution ). Not
only do we do the main processing, the machines often get clogged with the thin
plastic bags, so most of them do not even get to the melting stage. Plastic bags
really are just a nuisance, with no positive attributes. Washington D.C. even put a
tax on plastic bags, in hopes to reduce the amount being distributed. It worked, but
too well. ( No Paper, No Plastic. The Tax That Works Too Well. ) According to a
survey made by councilman Tommy Wells, the use of plastic bags by shoppers has
dropped 50% ( No Paper, No Plastic. The Tax That Works Too Well ). In even better
news, for the supporters of a clean Earth, the funds that were made by the tax, are
now being used toward clean up efforts for the Anacostia River, which is a polluted
urban waterway clogged with plastic bags. Since the clean up began, the amount of
plastic found in the river have significantly decreased. Legislature members are
arguing though, that with the decreased amount of plastic bags being used, so will
the contamination in the river, thus making the clean up crew pointless. The tax
created to help reduce the amount of plastic bags, is slowly making its way around,
California tried the bill, but was not passed. Getting involved in your community, can

Effectiveness Of The Treatment Before And After The...
To analyze the effectiveness of the treatment before and after the surgical
revascularization intervention procedures in PAD patients who may have
microvascular dysfunction, we studied the change in oxygen concentration at the
walls of capillaries.
Oxygen transfer in a vascular network that is essential for the tissue metabolism
takes place at the level of microvasculature and capillaries through convection and
diffusion. Oxygen delivery or convective flow of oxygen to the capillaries and
oxygen extraction or diffusive transport of oxygen from hemoglobin (Hb) to tissue
cells are the two limiting factors associated with oxygen transfer in a vascular
network (Pittman, 2000).
In order to quantify the transfer rate of oxygen from capillaries to the surrounding
tissues, micro circulation in the vascular network was modeled in a virtual simulation
software using the chemical reaction module. Two mechanisms associated with the
oxygen transfer; oxygen from the blood is transferred to the inner wall through
convection and from inner capillary wall to the surrounding tissue via diffusion
phenomena, are shown in Figure 1.
Microcirculation includes both delivery and extraction that is governed by the
equation from Fick s Principle (conservation of mass).

The main objective of this paper is to examine the effects of HIV/AIDS scourge on
labour force productivity of Adamawa state households. 2. Problem Statement The
health status of the people in any country is a critical element in the growth of its
economy as well as an important factor in the overall quality of life. AIDS tend to
selectively affect women, youths, which are the vulnerable groups; it will influence
a wide range of social and economic factors. In Adamawa State, agriculture is the
dominant industry; high rate of infection could lead to the stagnation of the industry.
Recent studies have revealed that HIV/AIDS prevalence among women and youths
is increasingly worrisome. The target is the most productive group of the population
(15 49 groups). 3. Literature Review and Conceptual Framework Until the early
1990 s, the empirical economic growth literature focused exclusively on the role of
capital and labour (The later often augmented by schooling and technological change,
but hardly ever on health as a key element of human capital (Baro, 1991). Even where
a relationship has been found between indicators of health and income per capita, it
has either been discounted or thought to be an indication of the impact of economic
Chile s Economic Impact On The Philippines Essay
Chile s economy is based strongly on the importance of the tertiary sector because
of the services they offer. Before Chile realized the importance of their services,
Chile was very restricted. When Chile realized that they had a lot to offer, such as
aeronautical services, retail stores, construction services, education, health, and
tourism. Tourism is a big part of what brings in Chiles income. Chile has also been
working hard to get other companies to go to Chile and start their industries. Chile
has become a very stable and prosperous nation because of its many attributes.
Because of Chile s growing environment, tourism has gone up; therefore Chile has put
more importance on the Service sector (Tertiary Sector).

winter is from June to August and summer is from December to February. The
Atacama desert is in the northern part of Chile and is where most of the mining
takes place. This is where the two thirds of the population reside. Because of Chile s
forested land, some agriculture also takes place but tourism stands out the most.

Relationship Between Surface Area and Rate Of Reaction
Essay
An Experiment To Investigate The Relationship Between Surface Area and Rate Of
Reaction
Introduction
The rate of reaction (reaction velocity) may be defined as the rate of change of
concentration of a stated reactant or product. The rate of a reaction is found by
measuring the amount of a reactant used up per unit of time or the amount of a
product produced per unit of time. A reaction can be made to go faster or slower by
changing a number of factors. In order for a reaction to occur certain things are
necessary: particles must collide with each other and the collision must have enough
energy for the reaction to occur. If this happens the original bonds are broken and
new bonds are formed so that new products are formed. Successful ... Show more

Also when a collision occurs they have more energy and so are more likely to be
successful in breaking and reforming bonds than when they have less energy and are
moving more slowly. Therefore the rate of the reaction will increase. As a rule of
thumb when the temperature increases by 10C, the rate of the reaction roughly
doubles.
The concentration of the acid The more concentrated the solution, the more particles
of reactant are present in a given volume and the greater the chance of a collision
occurring. In dilute acids, with fewer particles the chance of collisions occurring is
reduced.
Therefore if concentration is increased, the reaction rate also increases. This also
applies in reactions between two gases when increasing the pressure has the same
effect as increasing the concentration. The presence of a catalyst A catalyst
increases the rate of a chemical reaction without itself being used up. Catalysts are
usually transition metals. In the presence of a catalyst, less energy is needed by a
collision in order to be successful. Therefore there are relatively more successful
collisions and so the reaction rate increases. I have decided to investigate how a
change in surface area will affect the rate of the reaction between calcium carbonate
(marble chips) and hydrochloric acid. The word equation for this reaction is:
Calcium + Hydrochloric Carbon + Water + Calcium
Carbonate Acid Dioxide Chloride
CaCO3(s) + 2HCL(aq) = CO2(G) + H2O(l) +
French And Indian War Causes
The French and Indian War was also known as the Seven Years war. It started in
1756 and ended in 1763, the French and Indian war created a chapter in the
imperial struggle with France and Britain which was given the name of the Second
Hundred Years War. One of the main causes the Seven Years War was fought it was
because of territories that were being claimed to be its property by the French and the
British in the Ohio River Valley. The French and Indian War was fought during the
middle of the 18th century, British and French people wanted to expand the land
from their North American colonies to the Appalachian Mountains. French people

Impacts of Global Climate Change on Temperature and Precipitation Patterns in the
Midwest and the Consequences for Soils
Introduction
During the last century, human activities in agriculture, industry and technology have
brought about a change in the chemical composition of the atmosphere. This change
so far has not had a noticeable or discernible effect on world climate, but if these
same activities continue, global climate change will become irreversible. The major
contributing factor is the increase in the amount of carbon dioxide and other gasses
in the atmosphere. These gasses are being cited as the cause for a greenhouse effect
where they trap the heat of the sun and cause global climate change, specifically a
warming trend ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of particular concern is the possible changes in soils. With a changing climate and
atmosphere, the soils, as well as the vegetation, of the Midwest would have to adapt to
the new conditions.
Continuous Warming
The most direct effect of the atmospheric changes will most likely be a worldwide
increase in average annual temperature. The magnitude of the changes will vary
within regions. For the Midwestern area of North America, the consensus for
temperature increase is one degree Celsius within the next twenty years and then
approximately one degree every twenty five years after that, or an average of 0.3
degrees warmer per decade (Anderson, 1992). This is a considerable increase from
the average temperature increase in the last 1000 years, which has been 0.005
degrees Celsius per decade (Ritchie, 1986). The implications for the soils, therefore,
are considerable. Soils are constantly changing and developing and in the past, slow
climate change has been taken into account in this development. However, the rapid
temperature increases that are predicted will be much more extreme than the soils
are accustomed to. Therefore, soil development will not be able to keep pace with
the changes , and the soils will be forced into disequilibrium with the surrounding
climate (Rozanov and Samoilova 1990).
Shifting Precipitation Patterns
The predictions for changes in precipitation vary more widely than those
Juvenile Delinquency Promotes Senseless Killings
Juvenile Delinquency Senseless Killings Some young teenagers have resorted to
the senseless murder of innocent people. Most the cases involve young teenage
males who have had a past history of feelings of alienation and gain the sense of
separation of themselves from the outside world. The article refers to the murder of
Kimberly Cates, who was hacked to death while sleeping in her home in Mount
Vernon, New Hampshire, two teenage boys randomly chose her (Schweitzer, 2009).
This type crimeis occurring more often across the nation, one teen decides to release
his aggression on the world, with others going along with it. Statistics and crime data
reveal that during the last quarter of the twentieth century juvenile crime had
escalated to a new level. These juvenile offenders seemed to have the belief that they
were pristine, the youth today present with a declining morality, and the state of
family life was tragic in America (Bartol Bartol, 2014). For century s law enforcement
agencies and truancy officers have battled delinquency. Juvenile delinquencyis
behavior against the criminal code committed by an individual who has not reached
adulthood, as defined by state or federal law (Bartol Bartol, 2014). More often these
juvenile delinquents fall more under social delinquency because they are displaying
inappropriate behaviors of aggressiveness, truancy, petty theft, vandalism, and alcohol
or drug abuse. In many cases, these juveniles are caught and appear in
Using Private Gasoline Vehicles For British Columbia s...
Acquired from the Government of British Columbia s website BC Air Quality, the
bar chart depicts the amount of greenhouse gas emissions produced by various means
of commuting.
Context
BC Air Quality created the figure by acquiring data from Transport Canada s Urban
Transportation Emissions Calculator. It is intended to be used by the general public:
parents, young adults, students and teachers, as a resource that graphically compares
the amount of greenhouse gas emissions produced by common methods of
transportation. The graph promotes environmentally friendly means that produce
minimal air pollution, to improve the air quality of British Columbia. For instance, it
highlights biking, walking and the electric trolley bus over other options; they
produce no greenhouse gas emissions. Additionally, carpooling and taking public
transit are favoured because they produce less emissions per person in comparison to
using private gasoline vehicles
Evaluating the Title
The title of the figure is satisfactory; however, there remains opportunities for
enhancing the title in its ability to succinctly describe the associated data. It fails to
specify the parameters of the dependent variable, greenhouse gas emissions. The
audience is left to speculate what data concerning greenhouse gas emissions will be
displayed. Moreover, it should mention that the included methods of commuting will
be ones prominently used in British Columbia. Rather, it should state The amount of
greenhouse gas

Hydropower has many applications are a clean and cheap way to efficiently bring
power to devel oping countries. The use of small hydro, specifically both micro and
pico hydro, can power a small village or group of houses with little to no
environmental impact. Systems have been successfully implemented in both Brazil
and other developing countries. The social and geographic character istics of this
region make it a perfect place to implement policy regarding the integration of small

Small Hydropower Projects
Hydropower in Brazil
2
While CRELUZ does generate a profit every year, members of the co op decide
how this revenue is spent. Most of the money is reinvested in new projects or main
tenance for existing ones. This reinvestment has a direct positive impact on the
community members it serves and is a plausible model for future endeavors in
providing ac cessible, cheap hydroelectricity.
All of these projects are designed to have low environ mental impacts and be
sustainable and easy to maintain. Since they are mini hydro projects, large head
heights (and thus large dams) are not required [9]. Most of these 6 turbine projects
favor weirs over dams which cause much less damage to both the river and the
surround ing wildlife and fish population. An example of one of these small, low
impact dams can be seen in FIG. 1. The design of these system also includes many
failsafes to help aid in environmental protection. Like many small hydro plants,
CRELUZ s projects include fish passes and flood controls [6].
FIG. 1: Dam and bridge at Usina Granja Velha built by CRELUZ. [6]
Again, much like other small hydro projects, there is a rack at the inlet of the
penstock to prevent debris from entering. However, these projects are somewhat
unique in their approach to disposing of this waste. All biowaste is used to make
compost, while all plastic bottles and de bris are recycled [6]. Additionally, the
Theories Of Columbine Shooting
The psychological approach is made up of many theories. The social learning theory,
the social control theory, and the social identity theory. They all apply to The
Columbine Shooting. According to Ronald L. Akers and Robert L. Burgess s Social
learning theory differential association is learned criminal behavior. Criminal
behavior is often learned from interacting with certain social groups in person or via
the internet. Criminal behavior is easily learned by individuals being introduced to
techniques of committing the crimeand specific direction of motives, drives,
rationalizations, and attitudes. According to with today s technology on the rise
school shootings can be understood by societal concern of the increase of violent
video games... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
School shooters usually do not plan on getting away with the crime because the
shooter has adopted a kill or be killed attitude and as such, is willing to take one s
own life. The third element of the social bond theory involvement. Harris and
Klebold, spent a substantial amount of time involved in a lot of illegal online
activities that included searching for information as to how to make pipe bombs
and other explosives. Revenge is a motive in more than 50% of the school attacks
because the offenders believed that retaliation is the only way to get revenge for
the wrongful behaviors and actions of others, some investigators believed that the
Columbine Shooting was out of revenge, and others believed that Harris and
Klebold just had severe mental issues. The last element is belief. Belief is a
common value system within a culture. Belief plays a role in deviance in two
ways, the criminal either neglects the moral beliefs they have been taught, or
justifies their deviant behavior beliefs so that they can engage in criminal activity,
while still believing it s wrong. Harris and Klebold belief was a mix of both, they
disregarded the social norms of society and they justified their belief even though
they knew it was wrong. A tape left behind showed footage of the boys confessing
they wrong doing and how devastated their parents would be, but still followed

Pros And Cons Of Walmart
In the following essay, I will state a few reasons why Wal Mart Stores Inc. is one of
the most detested companies in the United States. I believe it is more a love hate

consider buying anything and consequently, many people buy their things at Walmart.
Walmart is a price Maker. Accordingly, they can decide how much they want to pay
for a certain good and if it is still realistic they will find a producer or supplier. They

The Digestive System
Parts of the Digestive System (https://www.thinglink.com/scene

The digestive system comprises of multiple organs like the mouth, which consists of
the salivary glands, saliva, tongue and epiglottis; the Pharynx, Oesophagus,
Diaphragm, Stomach, Spleen, Liver, Pancreas and the Lower gastrointestinal tract
which includes the small and large intestine and the caecum. The major role of this
system like it suggests is to digest food. It digests and provides nutrients to the
body and passes on the waste to the excretory system to safely pass it out of the
body. The Mouth breaks down the food into small components which are then
accordingly absorbed and assimilated into the body. The salivary glands secrete
saliva which also helps in the production of bolus which makes the task easier and it
is then swallowed by the oesophagus and passed right down into the stomach. The
saliva contains a catalytic enzyme called amylase which starts working on the food in
the mouth itself and digestion is also helped due to the mastication of the food by the
teeth and muscular contractions of the peristalsis.
The term peristalsis refers to the rhythmic contraction of muscles that begins right up
in the oesophagus and up till the walls of the stomach and the gastrointestinal tract.
Gastric juices and mucus in the stomach aid peristalsis and a smooth passage is
provided to the food

The Purpose Of The Athenian Army
Part 3
1) The Athenian Army
The purpose of the Athenian army was to was to secure Athenian democratic society.
The army fought battles against other Greek states and foreign states most often
against oligarchies and aristocracies. The army was managed by a polemarch (senior
military title), along with ten generals from the ten tribes of Athens.
The largest component of the army was the infantry composed of hoplites (citizens
fighting in a full set of armour). They went into battle protected by a helmet,
breastplate, and greaves (shin guards), carrying a large round shield and long spear.
The state would sometimes issue such equipment to citizens who could not afford a
set of their own.
The Athenian army was primarily male citizens, who were made to enlist at the
beginning of the year following their 18th birthdays. For two years, new cadets
(known as ephebes) trained full time. After training, they rejoined public life, though
they were committed to the army for 40 years. At any time, they could be called to
duty to defend Athens. The people elect two athletic trainers and instructors for them,
to teach them their drill as heavy armed soldiers and to use the bow, javelin, and sling.
Richer Athenians enrolled in the cavalry, as always, a smaller elite military force
made up of those wealthy enough to own and maintain a good mount. The state would
call upon an inspection and registration of all of the horses on an annual basis, so that
the owner could draw a maintenance
Paiste Hi-Hats
The Sound Edge series of hi hats from Paiste are designed to get the most out of a
drummer s hi hat technique. The signature CuSn8 bronze hats are well suited for all
styles of play, but created with energetic footwork in mind. The high hat pair creates a
consistently crisp chick sound when stepping on the pedal to enhance the drums time
keeping. This allows the SoundEdge hi hat cymbals to cut through the guitars to
create great presence in the musicmix. Whether keeping time or adding accents, these
Paiste hi hats add a new percussion voice to the drum set without accessories.
Standard stock hi hats have a smooth edge on both cymbals, which can trap air
when playing and cause sound inconsistencies. This is often mitigated by adjusting
the angle of the bottom cymbal using a bolt found on most hi hat stands. The Paiste
Sound Edge hi hats have a bottom cymbal with a wavy edge that allows air to
escape without resistance. That means closing the cymbal pair creates a consistent
and uninhibited sound so players and drum with a precise feel. It also means that
additional accessories or microphones aren t required to bring the hi hat sound to life
in the drums. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This allows drummers to keep the bright sound qualities that can be lost when
switching over to heavy projection hats. It also allows them to keep the technique
they developed on medium hats rather than altering their practiced sticking force.
Paiste Sound Edge hats use design innovation and their signature CuSn8 bronze alloy
for a crisp and pronounced cymbal sound. This means these Paiste hats cut through
any guitar riff without changing the feel or style of the drum

Refinishing Your Hardwood Floors? Learn How To Hand Refinish The Steps
If you have carpeting throughout your home that you are looking to rip out so you
can refinish the hardwood, chances are that the steps in your home have carpeting
on them too. Steps can be one of the most frustrating parts of the hardwood
refinishing process because so much of it needs to be done by hand. Follow these
tips to learn how to refinish the steps on your own.
Preparation
You ll start by removing the old carpeting on the stairs that was previously nailed
or glued down. A pry bar works great for lifting up each area of carpeting, which will
give you enough leverage to rip it out by hand.
It s important that you remove every single nail or patch of glue left behind on the
wood, because it can potentially ruin your sanding equipment later on. Event he
tiny staples will need to be removed with pliers if there is a sharp end still stuck in
the hardwood. Glue residue can be scrubbed away with a commercial glue removal

Montag is the main character from Fahrenheit 451. He is a really confused
character. He lives with his wife in a house in 2026. He s a firefighter, but during
this time period firefighters start fighters and not put them out. He let s people
boss him around and at a point he get s really mad and he explodes on people. In
the first chapter Montag meets a girl that was in the corner of the street while he

their children and war and politics so he decided to bring them a book and show
them! He played it cool and told them that once a year they would let them bring

one of the women cry and they started to get mad at him. He kicked them out of his
house as soon as they started disrespecting him. The next day he went to the
firehouse with the little bullet in his ear so that Faber would help him. Once there
Beatty was acting really weird like he knew something about the books, he started
saying that he had a dream that Montag and him got into a big debate because
Montag wanted to keep books and Beatty didn t and that Montag was throwing

Essay on Finance
Finance Wikipedia s accurate definition of finance is The activity of finance is the
application of a set of techniques that individuals and organizations (entities) use to
manage their financial affairs, particularly the differences between income and
expenditure and the risks of their investments http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Finance. I
discuss the importance of keeping track and updating financial reports as well as
simple bank statements. These are just some of the essentials that I believe we all as
a people should acknowledge. There are several detrimental problems concerning our

If we really want to understand our finance and how it works, it is necessary for us
to understand how the use of financial assets leads to the better use of real assets. Do
we as a people really understand how to levitate our finance? A Prominent tribulation
involving finance and the Black culture is establishing the know how of operating
and dealing with financial situations. Understanding how the financial division works
and how it is related to the real sector is why anyone would study finance.
Many important personal decisions are financial. Paying for a home or an
automobile are two very large examples, but even day to day decisions such as
planning a budget, opening a checking account, or making investments call for a
knowledge of finance. This is a issue that I believe should be discussed in any natural
home, let alone the home of minorities.
Most of the time racially we take finance frivolously and this has become a vast
distress on growing and raising children in our society. Learning finance and relating
to the history of it should be something that we try to incorporate in our teaching as
Black parents. There should be a strong emphasis set on the ability to receive credit
cards from national companies to our Black children, instead of nonchalantly letting
them keep the cards in their possession to set themselves up for failure.
Debt is also a financial situation that our

Dostoevsky as Performer Essay
Dostoevsky as Performer
Storytelling and reading aloud played a valuable part in young Fyodor s life,
influencing his own later successful writing endeavors as well as his performance of
literature. His nanny and wet nurse introduced the Dostoevsky children to folklore
and lives of the saints through the stories they told. Nanny Alyona Frolovna told the
children stories of ancient Russia, of Saint Sergey of Moscow subduing a bear by
the power of his holiness, of heroes and legends and folk tales, Christianity and
Russian myth intertwined ; the stories were so vivid and frightening that the children
had trouble sleeping (Gunn 10). During the winter their former wet nurses would

The Gothic novels of Ann Radcliffe were favorites of the Dostoevskys. Frank
contends that Dostoevsky, influenced by Radcliffe, would later incorporate Gothic
techniques of plot, character, and atmosphere and carry them to a peak of perfection
that has never been surpassed (1976, 55). Among the literature read and discussed
by the Dostoevsky fireside were the Bible, writings of Nikolai Karamzin, including
History of the Russian State, Letters of a Russian Traveller, and Poor Liza; the poets
Vasily Zhukovsky, Mikhail Y. Lermontov, Gavriil R. Derzhavin, and, of course,
Alexander Pushkin; and the novelist Sir Walter Scott. Frank believes that the readings
in the family circle were designed to stimulate and benefit the children and to turn
them into Godfearing and loyal citizens of the Tsar (1976, 5960). Geir Kjetsaa
reports that the Dostoevsky parents were fine readers and the two oldest boys
[Mikhail and Fyodor] did not lag far behind them and is convinced that for Fyodor
these reading sessions served as a literary foundation for his entire life (10).
The influence of Fyodor s mother, his first teacher, was no doubt strong as she
conveyed her love of poetry and novels as well as music. Fyodor began to read for
himself at the age of four from an antique volume containing a hundred and four
Bible tales and conceived a passion for the book of Job
Edgar Degas And Western Realism In Hokusai s
Impressionism
Edgar Degas appears to have never accommodated himself to the name of
impressionist, wanting to call himself a realist, independent, or free. Like the
impressionists, he looked to catch transient minutes in the stream of present day
life, yet he demonstrated little enthusiasm for painting plein air scenes, favoring
scenes in theaters and bistros lit up by fake light, which he used to illuminate the
forms of his figures, complying to his training. Degas s choice of subject matter
mirrors his modern cutting edge approach. He best liked scenes of ballet dancers.
His concentration to ballet dancers increased strongly in the late 1800s, and
eventually he composed nearly 2,000 works on the area. They address the way the
human body moves, investigating the physicality and train of the ballet dancers
using distorted stances and abrupt vantage points. Without the Japanese printmaker
Hokusai, Impressionism may never have happened. He is a father figure of Western
Modernism. In Japan, Hokusai was viewed as crude, underneath the thought of the
magnificent literati. In the West, his outline of space with color and line, as
opposed to by means of one point perspective, would have a revolutionary effect.
Most artist were influenced by his landscapes but Degas, he was influenced by
Hokusai s rendering of human forms. You can truly see how he was influence by
Hokusai in his bathers artwork. Degas was uncommonly interested in women s
private, rather than public, appearances. Degas
Multidisciplinary Research
1. Multidisciplinary research can exist in four forms based on the level of interaction
the group has with one another. Name the four forms and explain the group
interaction for each. Be sure to explain how the disciplines interact and what level of
collaboration occurs. The multidisciplinary research forms are additive, non
disciplinary, integrated and synthetic.Additive: the additive multidisciplinary research
form is the lowest level of collaboration among the four forms. In fact, this
particular form of research does not require a certain degree of collaboration.

Although both research forms can be performed by a team of researchers from
various specialties, interdisciplinary research can be perform as well by a single
individual, who has different areas of expertise, without compromising the final
result. On multidisciplinary research, team members can work independently
borrowing from other disciplines as the research deems necessarily. While
multidisciplinary research requires a team to cover different field of expertise, such
experts might not share a common research goal, and interaction between them is not
requires either, sharing information varies according to the researchers possibilities
and technology. On the other hand, interdisciplinary research requires a greater level
of interaction between researchers, which share a common research ideas and goals.
Personally, the main difference between these forms of research is that the approach
to answer the research question differs. Multidisciplinary research questions are
based on individual disciplines and do not require other perspectives in order to be

Medical Information Technology ( Meditech ) Essay
Medical Information Technology (MediTech) is a privately held company, which
holds approximately 19% of the hospital electronic health record (EHR) market
share in the United States (Rouse, M). In 2015, the company s combination of
products and service revenues were $475.5 million, and in that year MediTech
employed nearly 3,750 workers, as detailed in publicly available financial reports.
MediTech products have been widespread among midsize hospitals and other
settings whose budgets are not big enough to afford EHRs sold by leading
competitors. MediTech started back in 1966 when A. Neil Pappalardo began
assisting with the development of the Massachusetts General Hospital Utility Multi
Programming System (Rouse, M). Pappalardo programmed language at that medical
center s computer lab. In 1969 Pappalardo founded MediTech, when MUMPS
became commercially available. Pappalardo acts as MediTech s chairman and is
navigating the company through challenging times. In 2009, when Obama
administration launched the electronic health records incentive programs, this
provided incentive payments to hospitals and physician offices that executed
electronic health records and demonstrated significant use. In 2012, MediTech saw
its revenues increase to its maximum level of $597.8 million. However, revenue has
decreased from 2013 through 2015 as of this writing. According to company records,
the declines were primarily due to lower product bookings (Rouse, M). The

Factories In The 1900s
Factories in the 1900s
Everyday millions of people drive or walk to work in the morning and then return
to their home in 8 10 hours or come home every week or two with a good sized
paycheck. Usually this luxury is taken for granted, because the money that is earned
is always enough to supply our everyday need and the work day is finished before
the next night. Working conditions were not always this good. These good working
routines gradually came into action growing from the Industrial Revolution. The
Industrial Revolution brought about many factories and along with the factories
came more workers who had few safety regulations to protect them.
So how did the factories become so deplorable? The United States underwent a huge
industrial growth. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The workers that they mostly hired was women and children. They were hired
before men because of how small they were and because they were willing to work
as long as they could help their families financially. These women that were making
working were working for their families making three to four dollars per week
(Gourley 11). The women that were employed were paid way less than that of the
men and they would work for long, exhausting hours. Women were also employed
before men because they had small hands and could work quicker. With their small
hands they would easily unjam the machines and they could operate sewing machines
with better ease than men could. The children that were employed were usually 14 16
years of age and they too would work to support their families. When these children
were sent to work in the morning they would most likely not return until the next day.
Most children would normally work in the coal mines and in the sewing and textile
industry. Throughout the industrial revolution roughly about 1.7 million children
worked in factories ( Working Conditions ).
The men that did have a job often worked on the railroad. These men would get
paid according to their responsibility. The men that worked here did not have it
much better than those who worked in the factories because they would be on a
strict diet of beef, bread, and black coffee. These men had to work in fear of getting

Schindler s List by Steven Spielberg
Good morning/afternoon, today I will be analysing a scene from Steven Spielberg
s master piece film Schindler s List. Movie extraordinaire Steven Spielberg, who is
a world renown director of countless memorable films, show cases his incredible
skill and compelling power towards the audience, without using any dialogue in the
most pivotal character development scene in Schindler s List. Referred too, by the
audience as The girl in red .
Before I delve in to the depths of this scene and why it is so significant to the film, it
is important I outline the story of Schindler s list. This film is all about Oskar
Schindler; a successful business man, womanizer and member of the Nazi party. A
true story, about a man making a living using Jewish workers in factories, producing
anything from pots and pans too brass tank ammunition shells, during the height of
WW2. Throughout the start of the film Schindler s humanity is questionable
leaving to audience to ponder whether or not he is a hero or just another Nazi using
the Jewish people as an easy and free work force. This all changes about a third of
the way through the film, when the audience witnesses our questionable hero s
fundamental change of heart for his Jewish working force and as discovered later on
in the film, he spends more money than he can make trying to save them.
What the audience witnesses, is of course the scene I am analysing. During a horse
ride with Schindler s partner, he stops on top of a hill looking down on a
The Lasting Effects Of Trauma On A Person s Body
The Merriam Webster dictionary defines trauma as a very difficult or unpleasant
experience that causes someone to have mental or emotional problems usually for
a long time (Merriam Webster, Incorporated, 2015). From a medical perspective,
trauma is described as severe damage to a person s body. Trauma can be caused by
multiple factors in a person life. Trauma could stem from a distressing experience of
a physical or psychological nature. In recent years major natural disasters and acts of
terrorism have become more prominent and devastating, creating long lasting
traumatic effects in individuals lives. Traumatic experiences can occur to anyone
regardless of their culture, gender, age, social background or socio economical status.

Health, social and political systems are also in place to support communities in
order to deal with life and stressful events. However, when some countries don t
have the accessibility to these types of support, age of the person at which the
trauma occurs, the social background, and the support and resources available will
all impact the outcome of the person probability of successful recovery. Childhood
trauma is a powerful risk factor for developing depression in adulthood,
particularly in reaction to additional stress. Epidemiological studies have provided
strong evidence that adverse experience during childhood, such as abuse, neglect
or loss, is associated with dramatic increases in the risk to develop depression
(Heim, Miller, Mletzko, Nemerof, Newport, 2008). However, trauma is not the only
factor that can cause depression during the developmental stages of an individual.
Genetic predisposition can also play a role in the development of depression and
other mental health diagnoses. The more adverse experiences children are expose to
through development the higher the chances are of developing lasting negatives
effects. Researchers found that children with two or more adverse experiences were
more than 2.5 times more likely to repeat a grade in school as well as be disengaged
in school, compared to those without any traumatic experiences, and after adjusting
for confounding factors such as race, income and health status
The Bitter Taste Of Vanilla
As the bitter taste of vanilla extract went down my throat, I wondered how exactly
I let this person fool me. The person in question was my oldest sister. I was around
9 at the time. My parents were out, leaving my older siblings to watch my 10 year
old sister and me. My sister had convinced us that vanilla extract tasted just vanilla
cake. Since both of us were fans of cake, we were excited to drink it. I should have
seen the warning signs. She told us that if we didn t like it, we were not allowed to
spit it out or get a drink of water. We still stupidly agreed to do it. I took a swig of
the extract and immediately spit it out. My sister made me drink more of it. It burned
my mouth and left me in tears. After this horrific incident, my other sister, who had
managed to drink it without problem, and I consoled each other. My sister does not
remember this, but I do and it taught me an important message. Never give anyone,
including family, your full trust. Any child that grew up with siblings has felt the
wrath of their brothers or sisters. Whether they are older or younger, siblings can
cause a lot of damage. They can teach you a lot about trust. You always have to
wonder why a siblingis being nice to you for no apparent reason. They were not nice
because they loved you, but because they wanted to do or get something from you.
My siblings could be coldhearted for their own gain. I learned to watch my back. As I
grow older, I can see how this small lesson my sister taught

ways of extracting oil as it would reduce cost in the long run.
Here am presenting my idea which I would love the Saudis to buy. We have the latest

speaking skills through language laboratory in the technological institutions under

The Importance Of Human Nature In The Strangers By
Albert...
Is it apart of man s nature to only care for themselves and be narcissistically selfish?
In biblical stories and even in current events, people have acted on decisions that
were considerate only of themselves. Adam and Eve ate the apple while only
thinking about themselves as being all powerful, or maybe even in Greek
mythology when Cronus ate all his new born so he could maintain power. This is so
humans can survive or prevent future threats towards their life. God gave humans
this instinct, so humans would have a drive to live, rather then just jumping off a
cliff for no apparent reason. Why else would humans try to survive if they didn t
want to? We are survival machines robot vehicles blindly programmed to preserve
the selfish molecules known as genes (Richard Dawkins, The Selfish Gene). If a
humanselfishness is routed to a human s survival instinct, is this apart of a man s
nature? In the novel, The Strangers by Albert Camus, the author displays man s
nature to diverges from improper human morals, apathy, and emotions like anger and
recklessness. Man s nature to be selfish is directly routed to improper human morals.
Human morals are what separates humans from other creatures. Humans are the only
being capable of mentally stabilizing what is the right choice and the wrong choice.
This is what a human moral is. If humans didn t have this, humans would act in a
similar manner as cannibalistic tigers. One example from the book is when the main
character, Meursault,
The Pros And Cons Of Flag Burning
On August 22, 1984, Gregory Lee Johnson was arrested for setting the U.S. flag on
fire. His simple act of protest led to the Supreme Court ruling that flag burning is
protected under the First Amendment as free speech, thus overturning his conviction.
The flag symbolizes freedom, and part of that freedom is being able to express
dissatisfaction with the government. However, some see flag burning not merely as a
demonstration of opinion, but as an attack on national unity and American values.
Should it be illegal to burn the U.S. flag as an form of protest, or is this method
within the rights of American citizens? Johnson set the stars and stripes ablaze at the
1984 Republican National Convention after participating in a protest march against...

Concerning the outcome of Texas v. Johnson, Justice William Brennan delivered
the opinion of the court: If there is a bedrock principle underlying the First
Amendment, it is that government may not prohibit the expression of an idea
simply because society finds the idea itself offensive or disagreeable. Flag burning
may be offensive to loyal Americans, but it is not threatening enough by itself to
justify punishment. Brennan also stated that we do not consecrate the flag by
punishing its desecration, for in so doing we dilute the the freedom that this
cherished emblem represents. In Johnson s case, the Supreme Court valued
constitutional principles rather than patriotic preferences. The Supreme Court s
stance on flag burning has remained the same since. Nevertheless, thirty years after
United States v. Eichman, there is still controversy over whether or not it should
be legal. A recent example of the present discussion on flag burning is a tweet
made by President Donald Trump in 2016: Nobody should be allowed to burn the
American flag if they do, there must be consequences perhaps loss of citizenship or
year in jail! However, without a reason to change the law besides personal opinion,
the Supreme Court is not likely to reverse their decision and make flag burning

Edward Ferrars enters the story and takes an interest in the eldest daughter, Elinor.
Throughout this story, Austen introduces many characters, some of which have

Elinor learns of Lucy s engagement. Marianne is hoping to meet John Willoughby
for an explanation and Lucy and Elinor are hoping to see Edward. While in

are all important. If one character is taken out then there wouldn t be as much insight
to the other characters and there would be drastic changes to the original plot. Austen

Since 1994, the number of American adults over 50 who are providing care to
their parents has tripled and now exceeds 10 million (National Institute on Aging
2008). At the same time, paid eldercare has become big business. Total annual
revenues have been estimated at $264 billion (Freedonia Group 2008), of which
54% went to in home care services and assisted living in 2006 (Reuters 2008).
While much in home care is medical care, nonmedical assistance is also common.
In 2000, over 378,000 Americans over age 75 were receiving paid, in home
assistance with daily activities such as shopping, transportation, and grooming
that fall outside of the category of medical care (National Center for Health

family or friends available to provide assistance, but most paid caregivers join an
existing group of family members or friends who are already helping the older

provide has been shown to change over time as the older person s needs and

Process Identification Plan for Toyota
The Case for Change at Toyota Motor Corporation Process Identification and
Improvement Plan
____________________________________________________________________________
Unit 1 Assignment 1 MBA 6022 Lynette D. Capella University Abstract This
Process Identification and Improvement Plan will begin with a summary of the
Toyota Motor Corporation and core commitment to safety, quality and volume. It
will also refer to the case study review titled Toyota: The Accelerator Crisis (2010),
by Greto, Schotter, and Teagarden for a synopsis of the accelerator and automobile
recall crisis that affected the company s reputation, image and near financial collapse.
It also identifies two distinct process areas have been targeted for... Show more

Thus, Toyota failed to comply with federal law in its foreign subsidiary and failed
to report such safety defects to the proper government regulators within five
business days. (Greto, M., Schotter, A., TeaGarden, M., 2010) (CNN, 2010) The
President, CEO and grandson of the founding father, Aki Toyoda emphasized I
fear the pace at which we have grown may have been to quick. I would like to point
out here that Toyota s priority has traditionally been the following: First, Safety;
Second, Quality and Third, Volume. These priorities became confused, and we
were not able to stop, think and make improvements as much as we were able to
before, and our basic stance to listen to customers voices to make better products
has weakened somewhat. We pursued growth over the speed at which were able to
develop our people and our organization, and we should sincerely be mindful of that.
I regret that this has resulted in the safety issues described in the recalls we face
today, and I am deeply sorry for any accidents that Toyota drivers have experienced.
(Greto, M., Schotter, A., TeaGarden, M., 2010) Importance to Toyota: Considering
the case study, Toyota s current reputation and status in the global market is marked
with recalls due to defective parts, malfunctions and safety risks numerous lawsuits
and fines
The Civil War Of 1861
The Civil War took place in 1861 and it lasted up until 1865. It was a war between
the United States or, The Union army rather, and eleven deep rooted southern
states known as the Confederacy. The Civil War occurred mainly as a direct
response to slavery. The South preferred to keep slavery and the North simply
wanted to preserve the Union. However, there were many other incidents that
occurred and there were different battles that caused the Civil War to have its end
results. Those battles will be addressed in the following paragraphs. The very first
battle took place in 1861. It was known as both The Battle of Bull Run and the
Battle of Manassas. The Union army, led by General Irvin Manassas, was slightly
larger than the Confederate army, led by P.G.T. Beauregard. It took place in
northern Virginia when the Union army marched to Manassas in attempt to attack
the Confederates. The attack appeared to be successful, but the Confederates
managed to survive. They later went on to counterattack the Union and McDowell
and his army were forced to retreat back to Washington. This battle was very
detrimental and overwhelming for the Union army, and left them in a state of
disbelief. However, in 1861 the Union were still able to make substantial progress.
They were eventually able to proclaim western Virginia a new renowned state
admitted as West Virginia in 1863. Shortly after the Battle of Bull Run, the war took
a turn in favor of the Union. A Union regiment directed by David
Essay about The Influence on the Beatles on American
Culture
The Beatles were more than their music. They influenced the lives of millions of
people unlike any musicians before them. They were the first and most popular band
in one of the most important music movements in American history, the British
Invasion. The year 1964 was the year both the British Invasion and Beatlemania
came to America and forever changed the landscape of music in the United States by
introducing the genre of pop, as it is today. The Beatleschanged the rules of music.
Many things that are considered normal now were pioneered by the Beatles such as:
creating compilation albums, expressing their views on world happenings through
the media, musicians in movies, and even mass media advertising. The beatles...

On February 9, 1964, Over 45% of America (roughly 73 million people) watched
the Beatles debut US performance on the Ed Sullivan show. By the next morning,
they had become the next big thing in America. Celebrities and schoolchildren
alike were wearing Beatles wigs so that they could imitate their new favorite
musical act. They had brought a cheeky sense of humor, long recognizable hair,
and a new upbeat pop sound that appealed to the general public. By April 6, they
owned the top five hits on the billboard hot 100 list. At one point, the Beatles sang
14 of the Billboard top 100 songs in the country. On the Billboard top selling albums
list, they owned the top two albums on the billboard charts at the same time. They
won two Grammy s for 1964: one for best new artist and one for best group
performance. They toured in Britain, Australia, and a blockbuster North American
tour. Women wanted them and men wanted to be like them. Their fame was
completely unrivaled. And that was their success simply in the sphere of music.
(Kaplan, 2004). During the next 10 years, the British foursome out of Liverpool went
on to become the most successful musical act of all time. According to the Recording
Industry Association of America, The Beatles are the best selling musical act of all
time in the United States. They released more than 40 different singles and albums
that reached number one at one point or another. Rolling Stone magazine ranked them

What Is The Vietnam War Essay
As I read though out the many different perspectives on the issue of war between the
United States and Vietnam, my most reasonable conclusion is that I have to consider
the Vietnam War as a failure for the United States.
At the beginning of President Kennedy s administration, he sent Vice President
Johnson to Vietnam on a mission to find evidence, because he wanted to stop the
spread of communism. Kennedy kept sending many American military advisors to
Vietnam, but the tyrannical leadership methods of South VietnamPresident Diem
made President Kennedy s efforts useless. As the number of beaten up military
advisors increased, so did the disagreements about Kennedy s policies in Vietnam. In
my opinion, Kennedy s reasons for sending military ... Show more content on

President Johnson made it clear to the American population and to the United States
Ambassador to South Vietnam, that he is not going to lose to the spread of
communist in Vietnam, nor is he going to send another American military troops and
advisors to fight in Vietnam. In stead, he stated that the Vietnamese could fight for
themselves. However, Johnson s view of not involving in the war changed drastically
after the North Vietnamese torpedo boats attacked the United States destroyers in the
Gulf of Tonkin. As a revenge to this attack, President Johnson approved to counter
attack North Vietnam.
By 1965, North Vietnamese were fully supported by the Soviet Union and China
making the American army to take out even more air support and ground forces into
the South Vietnam. This cost American government tremendous amount of money
and lives. North Vietnam, along with the help from Soviet Union and China, fully
committed itself to defeating the United States and forces of South Vietnam.
American people questioned how did their army even fought against North Vietnam
when there was no realistic change for the Americans to trouble the North

The over usage of video games has appeared to affect the mind in the OFC, the
striatum, and the sensory regions. Addict gamers appeared to have more of a
impulsiveness control than the normal gamer. Players who had played online showed
an increase of gray matter density from the other players in the left anterior cingulate
cortex. Another thing I found interesting in this article was that higher amounts of
dopamine appeared in addict gamers from the reward process in videogames than
the casual gamer. The Cambridge gambling task ( which affects the brain in making
poor decisions) was found higher in addict gamers. Not only that, but addict gamers
appeared to have a slower information processing than normal players.
What I took away from the article was that video game addiction could be linked
backed to the same effects on the brain as drug abuse, or impulsive control
disorders. Playing video games regularly may not trigger these effects, but the
heavy usage of video games appears to affect the rewarding process which thus
releases a higher dopamine in the brain. High concentration of dopamine can also
be found in drug which gives you that good feeling . It is not always associated, but
drug abuse can occur from a depression or other disorders. Video games also act as
an escape from depression, acting almost as if it too was a drug. Both appeared to

Society constantly redefines what beauty is in women, and yet women always feel
compelled to conform to society s definition of beauty. The insecurity of women
today adhere to society s definition of beauty. By conforming to society s definition
beauty they are rewarded with confidence. According to Bordo (1989), anorexia
built bodies has become the norm for women today. Most clothing stores
accommodate to these body figures by selling majority small and medium framed
clothing. Tight and skinny bodies were defined as the next generation of beauty,

ideology by selling active wear and accessories to make achieving this lifestyle

2.5REVIEWS ON RFID IN WAREHOUSE
The RFID system mainly includes three parts: reader, antenna, and RFID tag, as
shown. Because of the uniqueness of the RFID tag, the reader can locate and track
the target once it is attached on an RFID tag. Passive tags are used to attach on the
target object because they are much cheaper, long lived, lightweight and have a
smaller foot print. The reader can communicated with host computer through RS232.
1.An RFID interrogator, or more often called an RFID reader, is a RF transmitting
and receiving device used to communicate with an RFID Tag. The device was
named an interrogator because it interrogates the tags. The term reader is a more
colloquial term, but is sometimes misleading in that many of these devices also have
the ability to encode, or write information to an RFID Tag. A reader basically acts as
an RF sensor because it can communicate with RFID tags that are within its range and
is designed to interface with an information process system.

The control system of the automated warehouse include management/monitor
computer, master PLC and lower PLC, which are connected by Modibus and wireless
networks and can build up a complete multilevel computer monitoring system, as
shown in Figure 2.2. The whole automated warehouse system integrated cargo
storage, retrieval, distribution and transportation together, realizes intelligence
operations in the whole system, and is an intelligent warehouse without any manual
operation. (Yinghua Xue, Hongpeng

  • 2. Recycling Is It Working Recycling: Is it Working? The affluent, fast paced, throwaway American culture is producing trash on a stupendous scale. (Young,Mitchell page 14). We are living in a plastic universe, and very unaware. The problem with plastic, is how frequently it is being used, and having no true way of disposing it. The fibers of plastic are in just about everything on Earth, not only is it sitting inside the Earth, it is in everything surrounding us. There is plastic materials in food containers, make up, fuel, and so much more. Using science, and technology, we need to find new ways of disposing unwanted shreds of plastic, and other recyclables. Recycling might not get rid of all the issues growing with global warming, but being aware of what is being ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The recycling system most of America uses, is flawed, like the majority of any type of system, used in America. The main type of recycling companies, use machines that sort through the different types of plastic, then proceeds to be melted or crushed into one hunk of plastic. (Terry,Beth page 73) On the contrary, the plastic we recycle, does not stay in the U.S.A, we send it to China, to then be used to resell back to us ( Made in China: Our Toxic, Imported Air Pollution ). Not only do we do the main processing, the machines often get clogged with the thin plastic bags, so most of them do not even get to the melting stage. Plastic bags really are just a nuisance, with no positive attributes. Washington D.C. even put a tax on plastic bags, in hopes to reduce the amount being distributed. It worked, but too well. ( No Paper, No Plastic. The Tax That Works Too Well. ) According to a survey made by councilman Tommy Wells, the use of plastic bags by shoppers has dropped 50% ( No Paper, No Plastic. The Tax That Works Too Well ). In even better news, for the supporters of a clean Earth, the funds that were made by the tax, are now being used toward clean up efforts for the Anacostia River, which is a polluted urban waterway clogged with plastic bags. Since the clean up began, the amount of plastic found in the river have significantly decreased. Legislature members are arguing though, that with the decreased amount of plastic bags being used, so will the contamination in the river, thus making the clean up crew pointless. The tax created to help reduce the amount of plastic bags, is slowly making its way around, California tried the bill, but was not passed. Getting involved in your community, can help the government pass bills, like the plastic bag
  • 3. Effectiveness Of The Treatment Before And After The... To analyze the effectiveness of the treatment before and after the surgical revascularization intervention procedures in PAD patients who may have microvascular dysfunction, we studied the change in oxygen concentration at the walls of capillaries. Oxygen transfer in a vascular network that is essential for the tissue metabolism takes place at the level of microvasculature and capillaries through convection and diffusion. Oxygen delivery or convective flow of oxygen to the capillaries and oxygen extraction or diffusive transport of oxygen from hemoglobin (Hb) to tissue cells are the two limiting factors associated with oxygen transfer in a vascular network (Pittman, 2000). In order to quantify the transfer rate of oxygen from capillaries to the surrounding tissues, micro circulation in the vascular network was modeled in a virtual simulation software using the chemical reaction module. Two mechanisms associated with the oxygen transfer; oxygen from the blood is transferred to the inner wall through convection and from inner capillary wall to the surrounding tissue via diffusion phenomena, are shown in Figure 1. Microcirculation includes both delivery and extraction that is governed by the equation from Fick s Principle (conservation of mass). гЂ–Q_(O_2 )гЂ—^Diff= гЂ–Q_(O_2 )гЂ—^Conv (upstream) гЂ–Q_(O_2 )гЂ—^Conv (downstream)Equation 1 The inflow would be the blood pumped from the heart through arterioles and incoming flux of blood flow releases the blood cells with Hb

Problem Statement The health status of the people in any country is a critical element in the growth of its economy as well as an important factor in the overall quality of life. AIDS tend to selectively affect women, youths, which are the vulnerable groups; it will influence a wide range of social and economic factors. In Adamawa State, agriculture is the dominant industry; high rate of infection could lead to the stagnation of the industry. Recent studies have revealed that HIV/AIDS prevalence among women and youths is increasingly worrisome. The target is the most productive group of the population (15 49 groups). 3. Literature Review and Conceptual Framework Until the early 1990 s, the empirical economic growth literature focused exclusively on the role of capital and labour (The later often augmented by schooling and technological change, but hardly ever on health as a key element of human capital (Baro, 1991). Even where a relationship has been found between indicators of health and income per capita, it has either been discounted or thought to be an indication of the impact of economic
  • 5. Chile s Economic Impact On The Philippines Essay Chile s economy is based strongly on the importance of the tertiary sector because of the services they offer. Before Chile realized the importance of their services, Chile was very restricted. When Chile realized that they had a lot to offer, such as aeronautical services, retail stores, construction services, education, health, and tourism. Tourism is a big part of what brings in Chiles income. Chile has also been working hard to get other companies to go to Chile and start their industries. Chile has become a very stable and prosperous nation because of its many attributes. Because of Chile s growing environment, tourism has gone up; therefore Chile has put more importance on the Service sector (Tertiary Sector). Tertiary sector is Chile is a South American country located between the Andes and the North Pacific Ocean. Because it is the longest north south country in the world, it is located in the Pacific Ring of Fire as well. Chile s capital is Santiago. Because it is has a very long coastline, the weather in Chile is always changing. It is said that winter is from June to August and summer is from December to February. The Atacama desert is in the northern part of Chile and is where most of the mining takes place. This is where the two thirds of the population reside. Because of Chile s forested land, some agriculture also takes place but tourism stands out the most. In the past, Chile s economy did very bad and was mostly based on agriculture and war. This was
  • 6. Relationship Between Surface Area and Rate Of Reaction Essay An Experiment To Investigate The Relationship Between Surface Area and Rate Of Reaction Introduction The rate of reaction (reaction velocity) may be defined as the rate of change of concentration of a stated reactant or product. The rate of a reaction is found by measuring the amount of a reactant used up per unit of time or the amount of a product produced per unit of time. A reaction can be made to go faster or slower by changing a number of factors. In order for a reaction to occur certain things are necessary: particles must collide with each other and the collision must have enough energy for the reaction to occur. If this happens the original bonds are broken and new bonds are formed so that new products are formed. Successful ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Also when a collision occurs they have more energy and so are more likely to be successful in breaking and reforming bonds than when they have less energy and are moving more slowly. Therefore the rate of the reaction will increase. As a rule of thumb when the temperature increases by 10C, the rate of the reaction roughly doubles. The concentration of the acid The more concentrated the solution, the more particles of reactant are present in a given volume and the greater the chance of a collision occurring. In dilute acids, with fewer particles the chance of collisions occurring is reduced. Therefore if concentration is increased, the reaction rate also increases. This also applies in reactions between two gases when increasing the pressure has the same effect as increasing the concentration. The presence of a catalyst A catalyst increases the rate of a chemical reaction without itself being used up. Catalysts are usually transition metals. In the presence of a catalyst, less energy is needed by a collision in order to be successful. Therefore there are relatively more successful collisions and so the reaction rate increases. I have decided to investigate how a change in surface area will affect the rate of the reaction between calcium carbonate (marble chips) and hydrochloric acid. The word equation for this reaction is: Calcium + Hydrochloric Carbon + Water + Calcium Carbonate Acid Dioxide Chloride CaCO3(s) + 2HCL(aq) = CO2(G) + H2O(l) +

It started in 1756 and ended in 1763, the French and Indian war created a chapter in the imperial struggle with France and Britain which was given the name of the Second Hundred Years War. One of the main causes the Seven Years War was fought it was because of territories that were being claimed to be its property by the French and the British in the Ohio River Valley. The French and Indian War was fought during the middle of the 18th century, British and French people wanted to expand the land from their North American colonies to the Appalachian Mountains. • 8. Impacts of Global Climate Change on Temperature and... Impacts of Global Climate Change on Temperature and Precipitation Patterns in the Midwest and the Consequences for Soils Introduction During the last century, human activities in agriculture, industry and technology have brought about a change in the chemical composition of the atmosphere. This change so far has not had a noticeable or discernible effect on world climate, but if these same activities continue, global climate change will become irreversible. The major contributing factor is the increase in the amount of carbon dioxide and other gasses in the atmosphere. These gasses are being cited as the cause for a greenhouse effect where they trap the heat of the sun and cause global climate change, specifically a warming trend ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of particular concern is the possible changes in soils. With a changing climate and atmosphere, the soils, as well as the vegetation, of the Midwest would have to adapt to the new conditions. Continuous Warming The most direct effect of the atmospheric changes will most likely be a worldwide increase in average annual temperature. The magnitude of the changes will vary within regions. For the Midwestern area of North America, the consensus for temperature increase is one degree Celsius within the next twenty years and then approximately one degree every twenty five years after that, or an average of 0.3 degrees warmer per decade (Anderson, 1992). This is a considerable increase from the average temperature increase in the last 1000 years, which has been 0.005 degrees Celsius per decade (Ritchie, 1986). The implications for the soils, therefore, are considerable. Soils are constantly changing and developing and in the past, slow climate change has been taken into account in this development. However, the rapid temperature increases that are predicted will be much more extreme than the soils are accustomed to. Therefore, soil development will not be able to keep pace with the changes , and the soils will be forced into disequilibrium with the surrounding climate (Rozanov and Samoilova 1990). Shifting Precipitation Patterns The predictions for changes in precipitation vary more widely than those

Most the cases involve young teenage males who have had a past history of feelings of alienation and gain the sense of separation of themselves from the outside world. The article refers to the murder of Kimberly Cates, who was hacked to death while sleeping in her home in Mount Vernon, New Hampshire, two teenage boys randomly chose her (Schweitzer, 2009). This type crimeis occurring more often across the nation, one teen decides to release his aggression on the world, with others going along with it. Statistics and crime data reveal that during the last quarter of the twentieth century juvenile crime had escalated to a new level. These juvenile offenders seemed to have the belief that they were pristine, the youth today present with a declining morality, and the state of family life was tragic in America (Bartol Bartol, 2014). For century s law enforcement agencies and truancy officers have battled delinquency. Juvenile delinquencyis behavior against the criminal code committed by an individual who has not reached adulthood, as defined by state or federal law (Bartol Bartol, 2014). More often these juvenile delinquents fall more under social delinquency because they are displaying inappropriate behaviors of aggressiveness, truancy, petty theft, vandalism, and alcohol or drug abuse. In many cases, these juveniles are caught and appear in
  • 10. Using Private Gasoline Vehicles For British Columbia s... Acquired from the Government of British Columbia s website BC Air Quality, the bar chart depicts the amount of greenhouse gas emissions produced by various means of commuting. Context BC Air Quality created the figure by acquiring data from Transport Canada s Urban Transportation Emissions Calculator. It is intended to be used by the general public: parents, young adults, students and teachers, as a resource that graphically compares the amount of greenhouse gas emissions produced by common methods of transportation. The graph promotes environmentally friendly means that produce minimal air pollution, to improve the air quality of British Columbia. For instance, it highlights biking, walking and the electric trolley bus over other options; they produce no greenhouse gas emissions. Additionally, carpooling and taking public transit are favoured because they produce less emissions per person in comparison to using private gasoline vehicles Evaluating the Title The title of the figure is satisfactory; however, there remains opportunities for enhancing the title in its ability to succinctly describe the associated data. It fails to specify the parameters of the dependent variable, greenhouse gas emissions. The audience is left to speculate what data concerning greenhouse gas emissions will be displayed. Moreover, it should mention that the included methods of commuting will be ones prominently used in British Columbia. Rather, it should state The amount of greenhouse gas

All of these projects are designed to have low environ mental impacts and be sustainable and easy to maintain. Since they are mini hydro projects, large head heights (and thus large dams) are not required [9]. • 12. Theories Of Columbine Shooting The psychological approach is made up of many theories. The social learning theory, the social control theory, and the social identity theory. They all apply to The Columbine Shooting. According to Ronald L. Akers and Robert L. Burgess s Social learning theory differential association is learned criminal behavior. Criminal behavior is often learned from interacting with certain social groups in person or via the internet. Criminal behavior is easily learned by individuals being introduced to techniques of committing the crimeand specific direction of motives, drives, rationalizations, and attitudes. According to with today s technology on the rise school shootings can be understood by societal concern of the increase of violent video games... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... School shooters usually do not plan on getting away with the crime because the shooter has adopted a kill or be killed attitude and as such, is willing to take one s own life. The third element of the social bond theory involvement. Harris and Klebold, spent a substantial amount of time involved in a lot of illegal online activities that included searching for information as to how to make pipe bombs and other explosives. Revenge is a motive in more than 50% of the school attacks because the offenders believed that retaliation is the only way to get revenge for the wrongful behaviors and actions of others, some investigators believed that the Columbine Shooting was out of revenge, and others believed that Harris and Klebold just had severe mental issues. The last element is belief. Belief is a common value system within a culture. Belief plays a role in deviance in two ways, the criminal either neglects the moral beliefs they have been taught, or justifies their deviant behavior beliefs so that they can engage in criminal activity, while still believing it s wrong. Harris and Klebold belief was a mix of both, they disregarded the social norms of society and they justified their belief even though they knew it was wrong. • 14. The Digestive System ( Https ) Maureen Reid Student I.D. REIM0115; Task M; Confirm Physical Health Status. The Digestive System Parts of the Digestive System (https://www.thinglink.com/scene /496007041890910209) The digestive system comprises of multiple organs like the mouth, which consists of the salivary glands, saliva, tongue and epiglottis; the Pharynx, Oesophagus, Diaphragm, Stomach, Spleen, Liver, Pancreas and the Lower gastrointestinal tract which includes the small and large intestine and the caecum. The major role of this system like it suggests is to digest food. It digests and provides nutrients to the body and passes on the waste to the excretory system to safely pass it out of the body. The Mouth breaks down the food into small components which are then accordingly absorbed and assimilated into the body. The salivary glands secrete saliva which also helps in the production of bolus which makes the task easier and it is then swallowed by the oesophagus and passed right down into the stomach. The saliva contains a catalytic enzyme called amylase which starts working on the food in the mouth itself and digestion is also helped due to the mastication of the food by the teeth and muscular contractions of the peristalsis. The term peristalsis refers to the rhythmic contraction of muscles that begins right up in the oesophagus and up till the walls of the stomach and the gastrointestinal tract. Gastric juices and mucus in the stomach aid peristalsis and a smooth passage is provided to the food

The army fought battles against other Greek states and foreign states most often against oligarchies and aristocracies. The army was managed by a polemarch (senior military title), along with ten generals from the ten tribes of Athens. The largest component of the army was the infantry composed of hoplites (citizens fighting in a full set of armour). They went into battle protected by a helmet, breastplate, and greaves (shin guards), carrying a large round shield and long spear. The state would sometimes issue such equipment to citizens who could not afford a set of their own. The Athenian army was primarily male citizens, who were made to enlist at the beginning of the year following their 18th birthdays. For two years, new cadets (known as ephebes) trained full time. After training, they rejoined public life, though they were committed to the army for 40 years. Nanny Alyona Frolovna told the children stories of ancient Russia, of Saint Sergey of Moscow subduing a bear by the power of his holiness, of heroes and legends and folk tales, Christianity and Russian myth intertwined ; the stories were so vivid and frightening that the children had trouble sleeping (Gunn 10). The Gothic novels of Ann Radcliffe were favorites of the Dostoevskys. Frank contends that Dostoevsky, influenced by Radcliffe, would later incorporate Gothic techniques of plot, character, and atmosphere and carry them to a peak of perfection that has never been surpassed (1976, 55). Among the literature read and discussed by the Dostoevsky fireside were the Bible, writings of Nikolai Karamzin, including History of the Russian State, Letters of a Russian Traveller, and Poor Liza; the poets Vasily Zhukovsky, Mikhail Y. Lermontov, Gavriil R. Derzhavin, and, of course, Alexander Pushkin; and the novelist Sir Walter Scott. Frank believes that the readings in the family circle were designed to stimulate and benefit the children and to turn them into Godfearing and loyal citizens of the Tsar (1976, 5960). Geir Kjetsaa reports that the Dostoevsky parents were fine readers and the two oldest boys [Mikhail and Fyodor] did not lag far behind them and is convinced that for Fyodor these reading sessions served as a literary foundation for his entire life (10). The influence of Fyodor s mother, his first teacher, was no doubt strong as she conveyed her love of poetry and novels as well as music. Fyodor began to read for himself at the age of four from an antique volume containing a hundred and four Bible tales and conceived a passion for the book of Job

Edgar Degas And Western Realism In Hokusai s Impressionism Edgar Degas appears to have never accommodated himself to the name of impressionist, wanting to call himself a realist, independent, or free. Like the impressionists, he looked to catch transient minutes in the stream of present day life, yet he demonstrated little enthusiasm for painting plein air scenes, favoring scenes in theaters and bistros lit up by fake light, which he used to illuminate the forms of his figures, complying to his training. Degas s choice of subject matter mirrors his modern cutting edge approach. He best liked scenes of ballet dancers. His concentration to ballet dancers increased strongly in the late 1800s, and eventually he composed nearly 2,000 works on the area. They address the way the human body moves, investigating the physicality and train of the ballet dancers using distorted stances and abrupt vantage points. Without the Japanese printmaker Hokusai, Impressionism may never have happened. He is a father figure of Western Modernism. In Japan, Hokusai was viewed as crude, underneath the thought of the magnificent literati. In the West, his outline of space with color and line, as opposed to by means of one point perspective, would have a revolutionary effect. Most artist were influenced by his landscapes but Degas, he was influenced by Hokusai s rendering of human forms. You can truly see how he was influence by Hokusai in his bathers artwork. In biblical stories and even in current events, people have acted on decisions that were considerate only of themselves. Adam and Eve ate the apple while only thinking about themselves as being all powerful, or maybe even in Greek mythology when Cronus ate all his new born so he could maintain power. This is so humans can survive or prevent future threats towards their life. God gave humans this instinct, so humans would have a drive to live, rather then just jumping off a cliff for no apparent reason. Why else would humans try to survive if they didn t want to? We are survival machines robot vehicles blindly programmed to preserve the selfish molecules known as genes (Richard Dawkins, The Selfish Gene). In the novel, The Strangers by Albert Camus, the author displays man s nature to diverges from improper human morals, apathy, and emotions like anger and recklessness. Man s nature to be selfish is directly routed to improper human morals. Human morals are what separates humans from other creatures. Humans are the only being capable of mentally stabilizing what is the right choice and the wrong choice. This is what a human moral is. Flag burning may be offensive to loyal Americans, but it is not threatening enough by itself to justify punishment. Brennan also stated that we do not consecrate the flag by punishing its desecration, for in so doing we dilute the the freedom that this cherished emblem represents. In Johnson s case, the Supreme Court valued constitutional principles rather than patriotic preferences. The Supreme Court s stance on flag burning has remained the same since. Process Identification Plan for Toyota The Case for Change at Toyota Motor Corporation Process Identification and Improvement Plan ____________________________________________________________________________ Unit 1 Assignment 1 MBA 6022 Lynette D. Capella University Abstract This Process Identification and Improvement Plan will begin with a summary of the Toyota Motor Corporation and core commitment to safety, quality and volume. It will also refer to the case study review titled Toyota: The Accelerator Crisis (2010), by Greto, Schotter, and Teagarden for a synopsis of the accelerator and automobile recall crisis that affected the company s reputation, image and near financial collapse. Thus, Toyota failed to comply with federal law in its foreign subsidiary and failed to report such safety defects to the proper government regulators within five business days. (Greto, M., Schotter, A., TeaGarden, M., 2010) (CNN, 2010) The President, CEO and grandson of the founding father, Aki Toyoda emphasized I fear the pace at which we have grown may have been to quick. I would like to point out here that Toyota s priority has traditionally been the following: First, Safety; Second, Quality and Third, Volume. These priorities became confused, and we were not able to stop, think and make improvements as much as we were able to before, and our basic stance to listen to customers voices to make better products has weakened somewhat. We pursued growth over the speed at which were able to develop our people and our organization, and we should sincerely be mindful of that. I regret that this has resulted in the safety issues described in the recalls we face today, and I am deeply sorry for any accidents that Toyota drivers have experienced. (Greto, M., Schotter, A., TeaGarden, M., 2010) Importance to Toyota: Considering the case study, Toyota s current reputation and status in the global market is marked with recalls due to defective parts, malfunctions and safety risks numerous lawsuits and fines
  • 43. The Civil War Of 1861 The Civil War took place in 1861 and it lasted up until 1865. It was a war between the United States or, The Union army rather, and eleven deep rooted southern states known as the Confederacy. The Civil War occurred mainly as a direct response to slavery. The South preferred to keep slavery and the North simply wanted to preserve the Union. However, there were many other incidents that occurred and there were different battles that caused the Civil War to have its end results. Those battles will be addressed in the following paragraphs. The very first battle took place in 1861. It was known as both The Battle of Bull Run and the Battle of Manassas. The Union army, led by General Irvin Manassas, was slightly larger than the Confederate army, led by P.G.T. Beauregard. It took place in northern Virginia when the Union army marched to Manassas in attempt to attack the Confederates. The attack appeared to be successful, but the Confederates managed to survive. They later went on to counterattack the Union and McDowell and his army were forced to retreat back to Washington. This battle was very detrimental and overwhelming for the Union army, and left them in a state of disbelief. However, in 1861 the Union were still able to make substantial progress. They were eventually able to proclaim western Virginia a new renowned state admitted as West Virginia in 1863. Shortly after the Battle of Bull Run, the war took a turn in favor of the Union. A Union regiment directed by David

Then draw three diagonal lines going from left to right. These three lines should extend from the top right corner, the top left corner, and the bottom right corner. Next you have to draw one more diagonal line from the bottom left corner, but this line must be a dotted line. Then draw
  • 46. What Is The Vietnam War Essay As I read though out the many different perspectives on the issue of war between the United States and Vietnam, my most reasonable conclusion is that I have to consider the Vietnam War as a failure for the United States. At the beginning of President Kennedy s administration, he sent Vice President Johnson to Vietnam on a mission to find evidence, because he wanted to stop the spread of communism. Kennedy kept sending many American military advisors to Vietnam, but the tyrannical leadership methods of South VietnamPresident Diem made President Kennedy s efforts useless. As the number of beaten up military advisors increased, so did the disagreements about Kennedy s policies in Vietnam. In my opinion, Kennedy s reasons for sending military ... President Johnson made it clear to the American population and to the United States Ambassador to South Vietnam, that he is not going to lose to the spread of communist in Vietnam, nor is he going to send another American military troops and advisors to fight in Vietnam. In stead, he stated that the Vietnamese could fight for themselves. However, Johnson s view of not involving in the war changed drastically after the North Vietnamese torpedo boats attacked the United States destroyers in the Gulf of Tonkin. As a revenge to this attack, President Johnson approved to counter attack North Vietnam. By 1965, North Vietnamese were fully supported by the Soviet Union and China making the American army to take out even more air support and ground forces into the South Vietnam. This cost American government tremendous amount of money and lives. North Vietnam, along with the help from Soviet Union and China, fully committed itself to defeating the United States and forces of South Vietnam. American people questioned how did their army even fought against North Vietnam when there was no realistic change for the Americans to trouble the North

Addict gamers appeared to have more of a impulsiveness control than the normal gamer. Players who had played online showed an increase of gray matter density from the other players in the left anterior cingulate cortex. Another thing I found interesting in this article was that higher amounts of dopamine appeared in addict gamers from the reward process in videogames than the casual gamer. The Cambridge gambling task ( which affects the brain in making poor decisions) was found higher in addict gamers. Not only that, but addict gamers appeared to have a slower information processing than normal players. What I took away from the article was that video game addiction could be linked backed to the same effects on the brain as drug abuse, or impulsive control disorders. Playing video games regularly may not trigger these effects, but the heavy usage of video games appears to affect the rewarding process which thus releases a higher dopamine in the brain. High concentration of dopamine can also be found in drug which gives you that good feeling . It is not always associated, but drug abuse can occur from a depression or other disorders. Video games also act as an escape from depression, acting almost as if it too was a drug. Both appeared to

Because of the uniqueness of the RFID tag, the reader can locate and track the target once it is attached on an RFID tag. Passive tags are used to attach on the target object because they are much cheaper, long lived, lightweight and have a smaller foot print. The reader can communicated with host computer through RS232. 1.An RFID interrogator, or more often called an RFID reader, is a RF transmitting and receiving device used to communicate with an RFID Tag. The device was named an interrogator because it interrogates the tags. The term reader is a more colloquial term, but is sometimes misleading in that many of these devices also have the ability to encode, or write information to an RFID Tag. A reader basically acts as an RF sensor because it can communicate with RFID tags that are within its range and is designed to interface with an information process system. 2.An antenna (or aerial) is an electrical device which converts ...
