3. DISCUSSION: (THE TEACHER AND
THE STUDENTS READ TOGETHER)
Objects in the real world
are called three-dimensional
since they have length, width and
height.
In Mathematics, the three-
dimensional figures are called
solid figures.
4. Prism
- are named by their bases and
the common types of prism are
rectangular prism and triangular
prism.
5. Faces– are the flat surface in
an object.
Edges- are the sides in an
object.
Vertices- are the corners
where two edges meet.
8. Cube – all the faces are square and it
has 6 faces, 12 edges,and 8 vertices.
Ice cubes
Take note: A cube is also a
Rubics cube
9. Pyramid- it has a base of a polygon
and the lateral faces are triangles. It is a
solid figure where the sides of the
triangle meet at the top called apex.
Pyramids are also named according to
the shape of it’s base.
Common types of Pyramid:
Square Pyramid
Triangular Pyramid.
10. Cylinder- It has two circular bases
that are congruent and parallel.
Can Garbage bin
11. Cone- It has one circular
base and one vertex.
Ice cream cone Birthday hat
12. Tennis ball Earth
Sphere- it is a curved surface
of points that have the
same distance from the center.
15. Generalization:
1. What are the different types of
solid figures?
2. Can you already describe
at least 2 types of solid figures?
3. How did you work with your group?
Is cooperation/collaboration
important in a group activity? Why?
