2. Font 1 – Lucida Calligraphy
Pros Cons
• Because of it’s curly letters it ties
into the masthead ‘treble clef’
because it ties in the music symbol
• It isn’t very bold and therefore is
quite difficult to see on a busy
background
Why is this appropriate for this genre?
It isn’t a major font that many people use and therefore it
ties into the genre of being indie because it isn’t used with
major companies and is quite individual.
3. Font 2 – Indie Flower
Pros Cons
• Its aesthetically pleasing
• Ties into the indie genre
• Doesn’t work well with
lots of text
Why is this appropriate for this genre?
It is an unusual font type and therefore fits into being indie because it isn’t a
popular type – this makes it be individual and isn’t used regularly.
4. Font 3 – Heyro Fun
Pros Cons
• Unusual
• Easy to read
• Doesn’t tie into the indie-
country genre
• Doesn’t stand out very much on
a busy background
Why is this appropriate for this genre?
This font is unusual but because it’s to curly it doesn’t work too well for this genre
as it is more suited for a pop/hip-hop type magazine – this is why I decided against
using it for my magazine
5. Font 4 - Prisma
Pros Cons
• Easy to read
• Bold – stands out
• Looks good for a heading
• If font is a small size,
because the letters are
quite close together it can
be hard to read
Why is this appropriate for this genre?
Its unusual and therefore ties into the indie part of the indie country genre. This is
because indie music is an alternative type of music that isn’t like the popular type.
6. Font 5 – Surpal Lovely
Pros Cons
• The curly writing makes it
look country
• It’s aesthetically pleasing
• Could be tricky to read for
some people
Why is this appropriate for this genre?
It ties into the country side of the genre because it has the curly writing which
looks like it is from an old poster – and because its unusual it ties into the indie
part.
7. Font 6 –Arial Black
Why is this appropriate for this genre?
It doesn’t allow the focus to be taken away from the content of the magazine
so allows the reader to focus what really matters. However, because it isn’t
very out there it isn’t really appropriate for the indie-country genre. This is a
reason why I decided against using it in my magazine.
Pros Cons
• Its easy to read
• Doesn’t take away the
focus from the actual
page on the magazine
• It’s boring
• Not very aesthetically
pleasing
