2. masthead:
Font style: 28 days later
The denotation of the font style chosen for âbeatâ magazine is
weathered and worn away and looks like an old leather jacket,
like a rock artist would commonly wear. This font style has been
inspired by the font style from the publication karrang! from the
genre of rock music and connotes anger and rebellion. This is also
the view held by most rock artists.
3. ⢠Masthead:
⢠Font style: vampire raves
⢠The denotation of this font style is big and bold. This font has
been inspired by mojo magazine and has the connotations of
shouting aggressively.
4. Masthead:
Font style: chunk five EX
This serif font style has denotations of being friendly and
accessible. This is inspired by classic rock magazine of the rock
genre which has connotations of being bold but restrained.
5. ⢠Masthead:
⢠Font style: Hand Shop Typography C30
⢠This font has the denotations of classics and traditional style.
The inner shadow gives it a 3D effect. This has been inspired
by vintage rock magazine which is a rock magazine with the
connotations of the original rock bands and this will be
reflected in the content of the magazine
6. Masthead Font Style â
Final Choice
Final masthead:
Font style: chunk five
EX
After much thought and consideration, I have decided to go with
âchunk five EXâ font style for the verbal code of the masthead
âBeatâ because I thought the ârestrainedâ look would make it
more appealing to both genders as it is mostly males who like the
âaggressiveâ look to the mastheads of music magazines. I will
keep the colour black as it has no gender stereotype to it,
therefore it will not deter people because of the colour. The
masthead will go in the centre of the page in keeping with the
house style of the majority of rock music magazines.
