Why Booming Distance Is Ruining Golf Summary
Alberstadt, Ben. Why Booming Distance Is Ruining Golf. Bleacher Report, Bleacher Report, 13
Jan. 2013, bleacherreport.com/articles/1483109 why booming distance is ruining golf.
In, Why Booming Distance is Ruining Golf, the author, Ben Alberstadt, explores the idea of how
shot making on the PGA Tour is now non existent and it has become all about monster drives and
impressive approach shots. The author begins by stating some facts that show how driving
averages are increasing at an unsustainable rate. In 2011 the PGA tour average driving distance
was 290.9 yards and three years before that it was around 287.3 yards. Alberstadt continues with,
saying that golf ball distances have also gone up which in turn is costing courses money. This

Kurt Cobain Analysis
Representation is the description or portrayal of someone or something in a particular way. How
have the texts you have chosen provide a representation of the person you have researched? What
element/s of bias have affected this representation?
Artist, poet, american musician and for the most part an influential icon of grunge this was who Kurt
Cobain was, as he was an inspiration to many for his talent, passion and beliefs around social
constructs. The representation of a person effects the way they influence other people and in Kurt s
case the world. Some of the factors that contributed to Kurt s influence was his lyrics in his music,
the impact on his audiences both at live performances and interviews.
Personal differences is shown in Kurt Cobain s documentary as they use the technique of
exposition which is used at the beginning the film. The documentary uses specific segments to
persuade us and gives us a chance evaluate and develop our own understanding of who he was.
This documentary shows that although Kurt was a musician, his music was an acquired taste, a
blend of punk, metal and grunge music. He talked about many controversial topics such as drugs,
alienation, death and even sexual violence. The many parents of the youth questioned if their
children should not listen to those types of topics in songs whereas other parents were more open
to the education Kurt s songs were giving. This was not generally your love song genre but it
represented kurt as a

Comparing the Epic of Gilgamesh, Hesiod s Theogony, and...
Comparing the Epic of Gilgamesh, Hesiod s Theogony, and Ovid s Metamorphoses
There are many parallels between the Epic of Gilgamesh, Hesiod s Theogony, and Ovid s
Metamorphoses. The first similarity is immediately apparent: structure. We can view the structure
of the Gilgamesh story as three concentric circles: a story within a story within a story. In the outer
circle, a narrator prepares the audience for the primary narrative, contained within the second
circle: the tale of Gilgamesh s adventures. Within this second circle a third narrative, the flood
story, is told to Gilgamesh by Utanapishtim. Ovid s Metamorphoses is told in a similar way: Ovid
starts out by telling of his intention and invoking the gods help to tell the story. ... Show more

In Metamorphoses, Ovid tells the reader his intention to tell of bodies changed / to different forms
and invokes the gods to help him with the poem.
This method of framing the tale does another thing: it gives an oral quality to the work. These
myths began as oral tales passed from one generation to the next, which were eventually written
down. It is interesting that the way they are written down reflects the oral nature of the original
versions a storyteller telling a story to an audience. It lends an immediacy to the work, leading
us to look for its applicability to our own times. Because of this immediacy, there is an
unintended irony that occurs in the reading of Gilgamesh. The narrator begins, Notice the strong
walls of our city of Uruk! These walls were built by Gilgamesh . . . Now study the inner walls of
our city. Examine the fine brickwork. These walls, too, surpass all others! (28). The irony is that
these walls are probably deeply buried and cannot be seen, or if excavated, must be merely
crumbled remnants of the once impermeable wall.
Another similarity is in the structure of the mythological world. In all three mythologies, the gods
reside in the sky, whether in the heavens or on a mountaintop. Below the sky rests the earth, and
below that, the Underworld. Even the god structure is similar between the Sumerian mythology and
the Greco Roman tradition. There is a usurped sky god (Uranus or Ouranos in Greek

Consequences Of Statistical Inferences Providing A Result
Consequences of statistical inferences providing a result rather than an answer could include
researchers incorrectly applying related management implications to their studies, when in reality
they are applying a treatment that was not correctly interpreted. This could result in the new study
producing a non significant result when a biologically significant result should have been detected.
Researchers desperate for a significant P value may claim an observation that was not present in
the study, or perform researchers degrees of freedom, which is defined as decision making as
researchers conduct the study, and not beforehand.
b. Truth cannot be derived from a single study; it must be repeated to increase the precision of the
study and therefore the strength of inference made about the results. Often, using the same sample
and similar methods will not procure similar results, and therefore a consensus of studies should be
provided to make a general claim. Studies that truly follow the scientific method and include
randomization and repeatability will be closer to discovering the truth than other studies.
c.In the vitamin E study, the first studies conducted on the effects on vitamin E continued to be
cited and defended even when new evidence showed their results were incorrect because they felt
true. This still happens in natural science; for example, McCullough s study on the George
Reserve in Michigan was based on 1 population of deer consisting of a small

Writing is the basis for all education and is too often overshadowed in schools today. With the
excruciating pressure and anxiety standardized test put on students, it seems only logical to
implement more writing exercises and practices, which can be quite therapeutic when dealing with
such stress. It would not only benefit high school graduates to be more enlightened for college, but
they would be better prepared for their careers as well. Writing has played a major part in
influencing our history and will continue to affect our future. Without the application of more
writing instruction and practice in our schools, future generations are to be severely hindered from
potential brilliance and success.
Writing as one of important skills of language, seems to be a difficult subject to learn especially
for the student. The reason is because writing is a mixture of idea, vocabulary and also grammar.
Heaton in his book Writing English Language Test (1975:138) states that:
Writing skill are more complex and difficult to teaching, requiring, and mastering not only of
grammatical and rhetorical devices but also conceptual and judgment, because of the difficulties of
writing, some efforts have been done to solve the problem .The main objective is to make the
writing become easier to learn for the students.
From Heaton s opinion, it can be concluded that writing is a very important subject because in
writing one must share idea from his brain, it is not easy to

The Ethical Theory Of Virtue Ethics
According to Holland (2011) there are few criticisms of virtue ethics. First, virtue ethics is really
complicated and multiple varieties of the theory of virtue ethics exist. Hence a single summary of
VE cannot completely do justice to this theory and the complexity it encompasses. Second, as VE
is attempted to be used on more specific cases and is tried to be made more concise, the theory
tends to become more inaccurate. The article further suggests the needs for a more comprehensive
and specific explanation of virtue ethics. Although there are criticisms of virtue ethics, there are
positive remarks about it as well. Stephen (2011) cites McDougall, according to whom, virtue ethics
might be the best way to think about and approach... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Utilitarianism focuses on the greatest good of society rather than of individuals (Garbutt, Davies
2011) and the theory makes the assumption that prediction about the results of action can be made
and thus end justify the means (Garbutt, Davies 2011) if the result leads to greater good. So if the
technology can be perfected harming as few individuals as possible and if it can be used to enrich
the lives of many people, more than that was harmed, then a utilitarian approach would approve of
this technology.
Virtues and Vices of Utilitarianism/Consequentialism
A major issue with a utilitarian approach is that when looking at the greater good it sometime
neglects the needs or values of the smaller group. This approach somehow devalues what the
smaller group needs. And this is does not seem just to treat people. Just because a greater number
of people requires a certain treatment, the happiness of the other group should not be sacrificed.
But that is what utilitarianism is about, to make the greatest number of people happy at the cost
making the smaller group unhappy. This aspect of utilitarianism to provide happiness to the
greatest number of people at the cost of others does not seem like a fair approach for an ethical
principle. And especially in medicine this kind of approach should

The Saint Of Saint Philomena As A Patron Saint
I have chosen St. Philomena to be my patron saint. Saint Philomena was born in Corfu Island,
Greece. Saint Philomena was born a Greek princess and lived for 13 years. She was believed to
be a Virgin Martyr. In 1802, the bones of a female between 13 and 15 were discovered in the
catacomb of St.Priscilla. They were believed to be her remains. They were discovered in May. St.
Philomena was found with three titles that said Lumena/ Paxte/ Cumfi.
When Philomena was 13 years old she took a vow of consecrated virginity. Philomena s father
took his family to the rump to make peace but emperor Diocletian fell in love with Philomena.
When she refused to marry him she was subjected to torture. St. Philomena was scrounged
drowned with an anchor attached to her and shot with arrows. The emperor attempted to kill
St.Philomena 3 times but she survived. Each time she was attacked angels took her side and
healed her through a prayer. Many saw how St.Philomena was treated and that she was still alive
and they became Christians. The emperor was determined to put an end to his shame and stop all
the talking and had her decapitated. All because she refused to lose her virginity to the Roman
ruler, Diocletian. According to my resources, Philomena died at 3:00 in the afternoon just like Jesus.
Immediately following, she appealed to Pope Gregory XVI to begin an examination for the patron
of Filmena which means daughter of light. On January 13, 1837, Pope Gregory XVI named

The Cross And The Lynching Tree By James Cone
Decades have passed since the end of the American Civil War, a war in which hundreds of
thousands of individuals died defending what each considered to be just. One of the bloodiest wars
in human history, the repercussions of the Civil War did not finish when the South lost the war and
African American slaves gained their liberty. Continual tension existed between white and black
citizens after the South lost the right to possess slaves. The transition was especially hard to handle
by white citizens who, for decades, failed to recognize the human dignity of their fellow black
citizens.
There are many narratives and historical texts that illustrate the racial tension prevalent especially in
the South of the United States. One of such ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Throughout the letter, King manifests his intention of educating citizens towards injustice and the
harm segregation rules during the 1960s were doing to society. In a similar way, Cone s metaphor
between the cross of Jesus Christ and the lynching of thousands of African Americans during the
decades post war, attempt to educate people on the issue of racial injustice as well as he attempts to
make noticeable the existing relationship between lynching and the cross of Jesus.
Cone s main point in his book is the relationship between the lynching of thousands of African
Americans and Jesus death by the cross. He argues that lynching of black citizens became the
American way of crucifixion of black people. In his book, Cone highlights the suffering of
thousands of black citizens from hatred from a Christian perspective. Analyzing history with a
metaphor little used before, Cone identifies the direct relationship between the suffering of African
Americans and the Calvary of Jesus Christ.
There exist, in fact, certain commonalities between lynching in America and Roman crucifixion.
Crucifixion served the Romans as a warning spectacle to demonstrate dominance, and to warn
people that any action taken against the Roman governance, was worth punishment.2 The
crucifixion of Jesus and the lynching of black citizens were a

yet aren t we the people of America? Aren t we supposed to be able to decide How America should
be made? So the question is what is the national action toward immigration? Or better yet how does
the nation feel about immigration? According to Center for American Progress information from
five recent polls from Fox News to Latino Decisions Americans support smart solutions to
immigration reform and reject deportation. But how? It s says that Americans support a pathway
to citizenship for people who are part of our communities, learn English, payback taxes and they
reject tearing these families apart. This has a personal effect to many people including myself
because there are families being separated daily, being accused as criminals, illegal but yet not
knowing the purpose for coming to America. This drastically affects families. How? It affects The
USA, Immigrants, and their children but there is also ways to prevent deportation.

The Sociological Experiences Of High School And College...
Coming into college, one major thing I was excited for was the week of homecoming. In high
school, I always had the most spirit and this week was one of my favorites. That being said, I
looked forward to participating in the homecoming events this past fall football season. I gained
from this experience is that both high schooland college homecomings are sociological events that
can be compared in many ways. The homecomingI am most familiar with is a high school
homecoming. During the week, students would practice agency meaning the freedom
individuals have to choose and act (Witt, 5). If you didn t want to participate in anything, people
wouldn t force you to do it. Every day we would have different theme to go with our overall
theme for the week. By putting up posters the week before, we used nonverbal communication,
the use of gestures, facial expressions, and other visual images to communicate (Witt, 53) to
spread the word about upcoming days. By the end of the week, everyone was ready to skip our
last class and go to our infamous Pep Rally. At our Pep Rally you could see the different
subcultures, segment of society that shares a distinctive pattern of mores, folkways, and values that
differ from the pattern of the larger society (p.59) in the separation of the classes.
A norm, which is an established standard or behavior maintained by society (Witt, 55), is seen
throughout the gym with students wearing our school colors red, black, and white. Different students

Make Lemonade Theme Analysis
The theme for the book Make Lemonade is making sour into sweet which means to take
something bad and try to make it into something good. This theme is shown through the whole
book. LaVaughn and Jolly go through very difficult times. LaVaughn is helping Jolly through
her rough times in this book. Turning sweet into sour is a big theme in this book because it
shows how Jolly and LaVaughn have to make their lives better. Jolly doesn t have a very good
education but she tries to change that. Also, Jolly is only 17 and she has 2 kids to take care of.
This theme could be universal because it shows how even when our life is at the hardest point you
can still turn it around. In the beginning of the book Make Lemonade , on page 25 LaVaughn

Violence In EuripidesBacchae
Unabashedly, tragedy is brimming with violence and death, it reeks of blood and is strewn with
corpses (Henrichs 173). If it is not the precipice of the action, the plot of tragedy often revolves
around the build up to or the after effects of violence; what to do with the body, how to
reintegrate after the fact, and even what to do when violence is taken too far, such as in the
Ajax. As a pervasive force in classical antiquity, the audience of the City Dionysia would be all
too familiar with the many faces of violence throughout the cusping three decades of the
Peloponnesian war leading up to 405 BC. Although it is flawed to attempt to condense tragedy
into a single function, it is perhaps less so to name one as a digestion of the everyday violence of
the ancient world. In Euripides Bacchae, the motif of violence is first presented by means of an
enraptured herdsman speech that revels in the spectacle of violent delights and foreshadows what
is to come. This motif comes to a close when a second messenger reveals the tragic reality of
violence and Pentheus sparagmos while the chorus of bacchants revels in their god s brutality.
Through examining the chorus status and perspective on violence, the staging behind Agave
wielding Pentheus head, and the contemporaneous socio political climate in Athens, the Bacchae
can be examined as in dialogue with tragedy s tradition of violence.
The first messenger speech sets the stage for the traditional role of violence in tragedy.

My Most Memorable Moment
Fencing is , in technical terms , the sport of fighting with rapiers (swords) in order to score points
against an opponent, to me, it s simply the art of sword fighting. My most memorable moment
happened to me, during my junior year in high school ( when I was still fencing in my free time ).
I and some of my fencingclass entered a tournament called The Golden Gate International which
took place in the gym of a State University. I still remember when my dad and I finally got to the
gym, I was ecstatic, from the outside the gym looked more like a convention center. The
tournament took place on the indoor basketball court ( which got divided into several sections
for multiple matches ) was massive, almost twice the size of my high school gym. There were rows
of seats on both side of the gym, and even stairs and a elevator that led to a balcony like, second
floor where you could get a bird s eye view of the whole gym.
I had six matches that day, and surprising the match where I lost is the not the most memorable.
My most memorable match took place around 3 hours into the tournament, mainly because of the
experience with the referee. The first thing I noticed was that the referee looked like he was
completely pulled from the crowd, almost like someone s father. Still, he seems rather confident
and has the tough look of an ex military guy, so I m appropriately intimidated. The First touch was
a parry riposte or a stalemate with two hits on both sides leaving the round up to

Immigration Through The Late 1800 s And Early 1900 S
Immigration through out the late 1800 s and early 1900 s created nativism throughout the United
States. Millions of immigrants flocked to the United States trying to find a better way of life to be
able to support their families. Industrialization in the United States provided a labor source for the
immigrants. Native born Americans believed immigrants were a threat to the American way of life
(ATF chapter 11) Social and economic fault lines developed between natives and immigrants,
through out the late 1800 s and early 1900 s, going unnoticed until the late 1920 s when the Sacco
and Vanzetticase brought awareness of issue to much of the United States. Nicola Sacco and
Bartolomeo Vanzetti two obscure Italian aliens, became the focal point of one of the most
controversial episodes in American history ;(ATF CH11p257) when they were arrested on May
5, 1920 for suspicious character and connection with the Slater Morrill Shoe Company robbery.
Sacco and Vanzetti were arrested carrying hunting weapons and extra ammunition on the way to
pick up Mike Boba s car, which was believed to have connected them to robbery of the Slater
Morrill Shoe Company that had occurred on April 15, 1920. Sacco and Vanzetti s actions depicted
the kind of foreign menace American nativist most feared (ATF chapter 11p 270), making them
prime suspects for the robbery. However the lack of evidence that existed to convict Sacco and
Vanzetti lead to the exposure of the fault lines that existed

Leadership in 12 Angry Men
In the film 12 Angry Men, a group of twelve jurors are deciding the fate of a young boy accused
of murdering his father. Throughout the juries dilleration, one man exhibits all of the qualities of
leadership. This man is juror number 8 played by Henry Fonda. Fonda not only exhibits the the 10
qualities of a leader but he uses these qualities to lead the entire juryto a vote of not guilty (Fonda
Lumet, 1957).
Early on in the film Fonda shows the first quality of leadership vision. Vision can be defined as the
leaders ability to know what is needed and how what is needed can be achieved (book). In the case
of 12 Angry Men, Henry Fonda has a vision that he and the other jurors have the responsibility to

For Fonda the entire film is him doing just that. Being that Fonda what the only one at the
beginning to vote not guilty, he used his enthusiasm to bring the rest of the jurors over to his way
of think. A good example of this is how he convinced juror number 9 (the old man) that there
could be doubt in the witness that was an older gentleman like he was. By showing juror 9 that
there were flaws in the evidence and the witnesses he was able to gain another follower. His
enthusiasm for getting the ruling right is what drove him to be able to make this happen time and
time again with every juror (Fonda Lumet, 1957).
Next we are introduced to Fonda s leadership quality of Stability. Stability is the quality of a
leader to discern emotions from fact and keep personal beliefs separate from the task at hand
(book). In the film we see this when Fonda discerns that racism of another juror is not acceptable.
He says to juror 6 that it s always difficult to keep personal prejudice out of a thing like this
(Fonda Lumet, 1957). In this statement he is showing his own abilities to discern what prejudice is
and how he is trying to keep it from influencing his decisions.
The fifth quality of leadership expressed by Fonda in the film was that of Concern for Others. In
this quality of leadership the leader values those they lead as fellow human beings and not just as
those that are there to serve (book). The whole premise behind the film directly

Analysis of BachВґs Work Essay
Before actually going into the analysis of the actual piece itself, background information would
be helpful. The composition was written by Bach, and it is part of the sonatas and partitas for
solo violin. For this example, Partita II in d minor, movement I, Allemanda, will be discussed.
Allemanda, sometimes spelled allemande, derives from German and simply means dance. While
there are various tempos used, this movement is usually fast, around 120 beats per minute. Strip
all the decorations and ornaments, and there is a straight forward analysis. The piece begins and
ends in D, cadencing to tonic. There is an A halfway in between, creating a half cadence. In order
words, this can be easily be called a I V I, just like any other piece.... Show more content on

With numerous rhythms to choose from, along with a wide assortment of notes, it makes much
more sense why that G sharp is longer than that note or why this D is only one sixteenth note.
Breaking down each rhythmical pattern will create better understanding as to why some passages
have more emphasis than others. The four 16th pattern will start. Because they are the most
frequent out of any other rhythm type, it makes logical sense they are the star of the show. It is the
milk when making a strawberry smoothie. Without the milk, it would fall apart. Milk is the base
that holds everything together, like glue. The four 16th notes are the cohesion that binds the piece
into a solid entity. A milkshake would not be defined as a milkshake without the milk. It even has
the word milk in it. This highlights the importance of its significance. Substituting milk might work,
but it diminishes the effects of the creation. The second rhythm pattern is the one 16th/two 32nd
/two 16th. What is the difference between the first pattern and this one? This one has two 32nd
notes. Both own three 16th notes, so that one distinction is the only idea that makes it different.
One clean might seem trivial, but it establishes a notable contrast. They are the strawberries when
making a strawberry smoothie. They become second in command in terms of importance of the
smoothie. It would make sense the smoothie tastes of strawberry, does

Why Should Schools Go To Year Round School
Year round Schooling
Schools around the U.S. are switching to a calendar called year round school. Kids in year round
schools go to school from six to nine weeks without breaks and a two to four week break. There has
been a debate on whether Florida should go to year round or not. Florida should go to year round
school because there is less teacher and student burnout, and teachers would have to spend less
time reviewing material that would be lost over summer break. Regular schools give teachers an
advantage because it allows teachers more time to prepare for the next school year and finalize
grades, but Florida should go to year round school because the benefits outweigh the disadvantages.
Firstly, year round schools decrease student ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, finalizing grades and preparing the classroom is generally easy with the correct time
frame. With year round school, those tasks might have to be performed within one to two days.
According to text 2 from National Education Association, it states, When teachers begin a new
school year, they usually have the time to attend staff meetings, tidy up their classrooms, and to
prepare for incoming students. Those who teach at year round schools, where the school year
begins a week after the previous year ended, find themselves in a different situation. Finalizing
grades and report cards may take place while school is still in session, leaving teachers with a
little over a day to prepare for the upcoming school year, only a week away. This means that
teachers teaching at year round schools are at a disadvantage because they have less time to
prepare for the following school year than the regular schooled teachers do. In conclusion, Florida
should switch to year round schooling. Florida should switch to year round schooling because
students and teachers experience less burnout, and teachers don t have to review as much because
students don t lose as much knowledge as they do over summer. While regular schools give
teachers an advantage over preparing for the next year, Florida should switch to year round
schooling because there are more advantages than disadvantages. Florida would benefit from the
year round schooling, and the benefits of it would improve the overall education level in this

Contrary to Coca Cola executives beliefs, the Pepsi Challenge didn t necessarily prove that
people preferred Pepsi to Coke; it just suggested that, when blindfolded, people preferred a small
amount of Pepsi to the same amount of Coke. Louis Cheskin s success as an advertiser is
notable because it proves that people don t always know what they want; they have to be told. In
the case of margarine, for instance, people weren t consciously aware that they would respond to
margarine wrapped in attractive gold foil it wasn t until Cheskin released margarine of this kind
that people discovered their attraction to such a product. It s also important to notice that Cheskin
didn t change the taste of margarine; rather, he only altered the product s presentation. Good
packaging can be very important because it catches customers eyes and convinces them that the
product itself is good, too. Cheskin s research into marketing and packaging has been very
influential, inspiring hundreds of companies to revamp their products. Once a new package or

The Crisis Of The Foreclosure Crisis
Shit happens is probably what most of these foreclosed homeowners hear after they were forced to
leave their comfy home. Even though the economy is unpredictable, not a lot of the victims are
satiable by such a vague expression that has caused them to lose their property. It s a harsh
comment, but the economy has turned into something that we have little influence over. One of the
worst feelings is having minimal control over the consequences and outcome. Some people are
afraid to make the same home buying decision again as a result, because what s stopping the
economy from taking another shit on them again? The answer is probably nothing, but what are
some actions these homeowners can take to ease into settling down in a home again? Foreclosure
victims can try to improve their credit scoreand it could get them that approved private loan in
return if needed. Saving money is also a general option for those that tend to spend a lot on
luxury retail goods. Another option can be utilizing the rent to own option to have that homey
feeling as soon as possible. Some people can also test their patience and attempt to wait it out until
the economy exits the lavatory. Each individual has different lives and each of us has our own fair
share of busy and overwhelming moments. Individuals involved in healthcare like myself would
totally respect those differences if it was a healthcare situation. However, credit scores are a

Illusion Vs Reality
This illusory extends to Willy s sons Biff and Happy Lowman. Willy also creates the illusion that
his sons were successful and perceived as great men. When asked why his sons were not lending
him a hand, he exclaims, They are working on a big deal. However, the reality was that his sons
were unsuccessful. For instance, Biff fails to get a loan. This delusion largely rubbed off on both
of his sons, but it had more impact on Happy. Happy begins to believe that he was a top and
major functionary in the company. However, the reality was that Happy was the assistant to

However, in the end, Biff realizes his folly and becomes mindful of the reality of their lack of
success and that their notion of the misplaced American dream is wrong. He even points this out to
his father. The theme of illusion versus reality is also apparent in Willy s marriage. Without doubt,
it is portrayed in the play that Willy is unfaithful to his wife, and even Biff ends up stumbling on
him while cheating. However, Willy maintains the appearance that he is constantly being honest
and faithful in his marriage. His wife, Linda does not know the reality of their marriage. In the
culmination of the play, they realize the facts over the make believe illusion under which the family
was living and accept the truth. The Lowman family finally accepts that they are not successful,
nor of great importance to the companies as they deem themselves to be. However, Willy refuses
to accept this reality and completely reluctant to give up his dream, which in the end destroys him
(Miller, 2001).
The lack of discernment between reality and illusion has a significant impact on the Lowman
family. They end up deceiving not only others but also, most unfortunately, deceiving themselves.
These illusions take control of their lives, and it is only at the end, that they finally see the reality
of their circumstances. However, Willy

Business Btec Level 3
Task 1.2
What is a stake holder in a business?
A stake holder in a business is somebody that can affect or be affected by the actions of the
business. Businesses have several stake holders each. Anybody associated with a business can be a
stakeholder of that business in some way.
Who are the stake holders at Morrisons PLC?
External Stakeholders
The customers The customers of Morrisons PLC are a big stakeholder in the company. It is
because of the customers that the business is able to function. The customers are able to affect
Morrisons because if they are not happy they will not shop at Morrisons but will go to one of their
competitors instead. This will harm Morrison s profit and therefore result in a decline of the
business. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The local community does not really affect Morrisons as a whole just the areas stores. If there is
only Morrisons in the local community with a lack of main competitors such as ASDA, Tescoand
Salisbury s, then it is very likely that Morrisons will be successful because the little businesses in
the area pose little threat.
Competitors The competitors of Morrisons are one of the most important stakeholders. Tesco,
ASDA, Sainsbury s and smaller businesses such as Aldi and Lidl are the top competitors of
Morrisons. They decide many factors such as prices, location, products and services that force
Morrisons to change. If a competitor decides to lower a products price, then Morrisons will most
likely have to lower the price too. If Morrisons does not do this then the competitor will sell
more products and attract more customers, some that may be currently Morrison s shoppers.
Competitors can also have an effect on where Morrisons opens a shop. If for example there are 2
Tesco stores in an area, there is not much sense in opening a Morrisons store nearby. If a
competitor of Morrisons starts selling a product that Morrisons currently does not, it is in
Morrison s interest to also supply that product. This is the same with a service. So if for example
ASDA start delivering to a specific area, then Morrisons will most probably do so too as this can
potentially lose them many customers. If a competitor decides to launch a big advertising campaign

Yu-Gi-Oh Game Analysis
1.In the game of Yu Gi Oh, there is a lot of give and take when it comes to cards. When
determining whether a card is good or not, I often look at just the good parts of the effect and
not the drawbacks. For example, there is a card called Card of Demise. This card allows you to
draw until you have 3 cards in your hand, but you cannot do damage to your opponent for the rest
of the turn, you send your entire hand to the Graveyard during the End Phase, and you cannot

Urbanization And Commercialization On Literature
The Effects of Urbanization and Commercialization on Literature
Nature is inescapable. It surrounds humanity and sneaks its way into daily life. Society draws on
experiences with the environment to produce art, theater, and literature. As Tim Ingold, a professor
of Social Anthropology, explains, ... nature furnishes the substance, culture the form. The imaginary
worlds of stories are created from sensations gained from the environment, and culture is a medium
that guides the writer in expressing his or her tale. Tales of Moonlight and Rain (1776) by Ueda
Akinari was written during a time of pilgrimages, uprisings, and intellectual pursuits. Though set in
the past, the book shows the influences of his environment within his nine ghost stories. The
continued urbanization and commercialization of society influenced the literature produced in the
early modern period, as well as views on the supernatural, by expanding on the themes of travel,
loyalty, and philosophy as shown in Akinari s Tales of Moonlight and Rain.
As Japan became more urbanized and roads improved, many commoners became enthralled by the
opportunity to explore the world around them. However, since simply traveling to see the world
was prohibited by the shogunate, many explored the world through pilgrimages. These travelers
wrote dairies and poetry that described the sights and sounds they experience, expanding the culture
of travel through their literature. According to Anthony H. Chamber, the translator of

The Effects of Internet Addiction Disorder and Technological Tools.
Problematic Internet Use
The issue of Internet Addiction Disorder (IAD) has become a topic of discussion for the newer
generations exposed to technological tools (smartphones, tablets etc.). Considering the
effectiveness of computer mediated communication (CMC) compared to the traditional face to
face, there is a larger chance to become addicted to the internet since technological tools have been
developed to be conveniently accessible. Using technological tools as a mediator, it can be possible
that individuals prefer CMC due to the three main components that it offers: anonymity,
asynchronicity, and accessibility (Valkenburg Peter, 2011). With this being said, it can... Show more

The wide range of tools offered by different social networking sites can factor into the frequent
use of technological tools and the internet. Using Facebook as an example, it can be fairly easy to
control the information and media posted onto a user s profile. Burke Ruppel (2015) suggest that
for the most part, people have the ability to control the information and pictures they post on
Facebook (in addition to controlling the dissemination of others information about them, such as by
deleting wall posts or removing tags that identify them in others pictures), giving them the tools to
convey a desired impression to others. Being able to control and avoid certain insecurities on their
online profile is what makes sites like Facebook display a social medium between text and media
posted while conducting research.
Communication effectiveness overall in Computer mediated friendships
Taking in consideration the amount of time spent on the internet actively engaging with others, it is
more than likely that friendship development online will become a common preference amongst
adolescences in the foundation of establishing and maintaining relationships. Overall, CMC has
effected the way we communicate with others online. Unlike face to face communication, it is

Intel Capital Structure Essay
Question 5: Evaluate the Put Warrant/Convertible Bond proposal. Does it solve Intel s capital
structure dilemma? What arguments might be made in favor of it?
Intel s capital structure dilemma was that it was holding too much cash on hand. Eventually, there
were three available strategies or alternatives that Intel could undertake in terms of cash
disbursement policies. First, it could continue or expand its market repurchase program. Secondly,
Intel could declare dividends to its shareholders on existing stocks. The last strategy is to put

In this sense, Intel is hence unlikely to be able to reduce their cash holdings via the put warrant
strategy. http://www.derivativesstrategy.com/magazine/archive/1998/0598col1.asp However, since
this is a distribution, and not sale, of the warrants, there are no tangible benefits for Intel if the stock
price at the expiration date is above $50. It does not stand to gain from any sale proceeds since the
warrants were distributed instead of sold.
The issuance of convertible debt will result in even more cash holdings for Intel, an additional $1
billion. This, at face value, does not solve Intel s capital structure dilemma of having too much
cash. However, Intel can afford to incur more debt financing, since it has relatively low long term
debt. By doing so, its long term debt ratio (using 1991 figure) would change to:
Long Term Debt Ratio = (Long Term Debt)/(Total Assets) = (0.363 + 1)/6.292
= 21.7%
This figure could be excessively high, as the industry average is 14.42%. It must be noted that
after two years, debt holders would be entitled to convert these convertible bonds into Intel
common stock. Should it be so, this would once again bring down the long term debt ratio, and
increase Intel s shareholder s equity.

Measure The Effectiveness Of Naps
A nap is a short period of sleep, typically taken between the hours of 9am and 9pm as an adjunct
to the usual nocturnal sleep period. Naps are most often taken as a response to drowsiness
during waking hours. A nap is a form of biphasic or polyphasic sleep, where the latter terms also
include longer periods of sleep in addition to one single period. Cultural attitudes toward napping
during the work day vary. In many Western cultures, children and the elderly are expected to nap

Individuals learn moral virtueprimarily through habit and practice. Moreover, Aristotle does not say
that we should aim for happiness, but rather that we do aim at happiness. Most individuals think of
happiness as physical pleasure or honor, but this is because they have an imperfect view of the

Abstract
Cluster computing frameworks like MapReduce has been widely successful in solving numerous
Big data problems. However, they tend to use one well none map and reduce pattern to solve
these problems. There are many other class of problems that cannot fit into this closed box which
may be handed using other set of programming model. This is where Apache Spark comes in to

Spark s RDDs function as a working set for distributed programs that offers a (deliberately)
restricted form of distributed shared memory. [3]
The availability of RDDs facilitates the implementation of both iterative algorithms that visit their
dataset multiple times in a loop, and exploratory data analysis, which is the querying of data
repeatedly. The latency of applications builds with spark compared to Hadoop, a MapReduce
platform may be reduced by several orders of magnitude. [3]
Another key aspect of apache spark is that it makes writing code easy and quickly. This is as a
result of over 80 high level operators included in with spark library. This is evidence as spark
comes with a REPL an interactive shell. The REPL can be used t0 test the outcome of each line of
code without coding the entire job. As a result, ad hoc data analysis is possible and code is made
much shorter.
Apache Spark is well complemented with set of high level libraries that can be easily used in the
same application. These include Spark SQL, Spark Streaming, MLlib and GraphX which we will
explain in details in this paper. 2Spark Core
Spark core is at the base of the apache spark foundation. It provides distributed task dispatching,
scheduling, and basic I/O capabilities which is exposed through a common API (JAVA, Scala,
Python and R) centered on the RDD concept. [1] As the core it provides the following:

Analysis Of The Movie Interstellar
Interstellar
Interstellar (Obst, Thomas Nolan, 2014) a terrific science fiction story with various elements. A
story about love, family, and friends, but there happens to be a villain whose actions result in
shocking consequences for the other characters. There s a great amount of emotion expressed by
each character, which makes a great impact on how the film s viewed. Escorting us through
wormholes, into planets in other galaxies, and black holes. The characters keep colliding into the
properties of relativity, which thoroughly clarified in numerous scenarios. The movie proceeds
sometime in the future where the Earth is slowly becoming uninhabitable for the reason of a global
crop plague, in addition to a second dust bowl occurring. The science fiction movie Interstellar
(Obst, Thomas Nolan, 2014) does an excellent job portraying advancements in technology,
astrophysics and real life issues that could eventually happen, such as food scarcity and catastrophic
natural disasters.
To begin with, the advancements in the movie remains comparable towards today s technology,
but there are a few advances that happen to be far off from doing. The movie offers us an insight
of what mankind can accomplish if we turn in the right direction. Interstellar (Obst, Thomas Nolan,
2014) shows space stations that sustain a large amount of human life to create or prepare for the
next generation to come. Demonstrates how robots can help grow and maintain crops, also they re

Plastic Bags Argument Essay
Government officials and environmentalists try to control everything while claiming it s what s
best for the environment. However, they fail to realize what s best for the people and their lives.
By using logos and factual evidence, Adam B. Summers forms an argument in an attempt to
persuade his audience to fight against the ban on plastic bags. Environmentalists claim plastic bags
and other kinds of wraps destroy marine life. However, according to the U.S Environmental
Protection Agency plastic bags and other wraps only account for about 1.6 percent of the municipal
solid waste materials. In addition, high density polyethylene (HDPE) bags, the most common kind
of plastic bags, contributes to the waste for only about 0.3 percent. It d be

The Voice You Hear When You Read Silent Poem
Thomas Lux is the poet writer of The Voice You Hear When You Read Silently. In The Voice You
Hear When You Read Silently, it is a poem that speaks with the inner voices that you hear when you
are interpreting then it gets into about the words that you remember can trace back memories.
Throughout this poem, Lux demonstrated tone, figure of speech, theme, structure, and imagery.
When Lux composed this poem, he wanted his audience to understand the tone of voice that he
was speaking. Lux had two tones that he was speaking in. For one, in the beginning, Lux was
speaking in a formal tone because in the poem he used you and your . When you and your is

The type of figurative of speech that he used was imagery and metaphor. Lux used imagery and
metaphor because he wants to enhance the description and give the reader a mental image of what
word he is describing. When Lux had used imagery, he is mainly talking about the barn. Some
people hated the barn they knew; some people love the barn they know so you hear the word
loaded and sensory connection. (line 23 25). Lux purpose for saying that quotation is because a
different individual might see a different image how they would think a barn would look. For
instance, someone might think that a barn is brown, and others may think it is red. Additionally,
Lux said another imagery line. By an internal ear informed by internal abstracts and what you
know by feeling (line 13 14). Th purpose that Lux is trying to point out is that when a word is
said, it shows an image that may bring memories. Then for metaphor, Lux began to speak about
darkness. Dark cathedral of your skull (line 11 12). Lux reasoning for saying that is because a
dark cathedral might seem to be a dark quiet place where everyone can hear or speak in their own
internal voice. Lux used figuratively of speech because he wants his readers to understand the
visual images that

Comparing the Epic of Gilgamesh, Hesiod s Theogony, and Ovid s Metamorphoses There are many parallels between the Epic of Gilgamesh, Hesiod s Theogony, and Ovid s Metamorphoses. The first similarity is immediately apparent: structure. We can view the structure of the Gilgamesh story as three concentric circles: a story within a story within a story. In the outer circle, a narrator prepares the audience for the primary narrative, contained within the second circle: the tale of Gilgamesh s adventures. Within this second circle a third narrative, the flood story, is told to Gilgamesh by Utanapishtim. Ovid s Metamorphoses is told in a similar way: Ovid starts out by telling of his intention and invoking the gods help to tell the story. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Metamorphoses, Ovid tells the reader his intention to tell of bodies changed / to different forms and invokes the gods to help him with the poem. This method of framing the tale does another thing: it gives an oral quality to the work. These myths began as oral tales passed from one generation to the next, which were eventually written down. It is interesting that the way they are written down reflects the oral nature of the original versions a storyteller telling a story to an audience. It lends an immediacy to the work, leading us to look for its applicability to our own times. Because of this immediacy, there is an unintended irony that occurs in the reading of Gilgamesh. The narrator begins, Notice the strong walls of our city of Uruk! These walls were built by Gilgamesh . . . Now study the inner walls of our city. Examine the fine brickwork. These walls, too, surpass all others! (28). The irony is that these walls are probably deeply buried and cannot be seen, or if excavated, must be merely crumbled remnants of the once impermeable wall. Another similarity is in the structure of the mythological world. In all three mythologies, the gods reside in the sky, whether in the heavens or on a mountaintop. Below the sky rests the earth, and below that, the Underworld. Even the god structure is similar between the Sumerian mythology and the Greco Roman tradition. • 7. Consequences Of Statistical Inferences Providing A Result Consequences of statistical inferences providing a result rather than an answer could include researchers incorrectly applying related management implications to their studies, when in reality they are applying a treatment that was not correctly interpreted. This could result in the new study producing a non significant result when a biologically significant result should have been detected. Researchers desperate for a significant P value may claim an observation that was not present in the study, or perform researchers degrees of freedom, which is defined as decision making as researchers conduct the study, and not beforehand. b. Truth cannot be derived from a single study; it must be repeated to increase the precision of the study and therefore the strength of inference made about the results. Often, using the same sample and similar methods will not procure similar results, and therefore a consensus of studies should be provided to make a general claim. Studies that truly follow the scientific method and include randomization and repeatability will be closer to discovering the truth than other studies. c.In the vitamin E study, the first studies conducted on the effects on vitamin E continued to be cited and defended even when new evidence showed their results were incorrect because they felt true. First, virtue ethics is really complicated and multiple varieties of the theory of virtue ethics exist. Hence a single summary of VE cannot completely do justice to this theory and the complexity it encompasses. Second, as VE is attempted to be used on more specific cases and is tried to be made more concise, the theory tends to become more inaccurate. So if the technology can be perfected harming as few individuals as possible and if it can be used to enrich the lives of many people, more than that was harmed, then a utilitarian approach would approve of this technology. Virtues and Vices of Utilitarianism/Consequentialism A major issue with a utilitarian approach is that when looking at the greater good it sometime neglects the needs or values of the smaller group. This approach somehow devalues what the smaller group needs. And this is does not seem just to treat people. Just because a greater number of people requires a certain treatment, the happiness of the other group should not be sacrificed. But that is what utilitarianism is about, to make the greatest number of people happy at the cost making the smaller group unhappy. Saint Philomena was born a Greek princess and lived for 13 years. She was believed to be a Virgin Martyr. In 1802, the bones of a female between 13 and 15 were discovered in the catacomb of St.Priscilla. They were believed to be her remains. They were discovered in May. St. Philomena was found with three titles that said Lumena/ Paxte/ Cumfi. When Philomena was 13 years old she took a vow of consecrated virginity. Philomena s father took his family to the rump to make peace but emperor Diocletian fell in love with Philomena. When she refused to marry him she was subjected to torture. St. Philomena was scrounged drowned with an anchor attached to her and shot with arrows. The emperor attempted to kill St.Philomena 3 times but she survived. Each time she was attacked angels took her side and healed her through a prayer. Many saw how St.Philomena was treated and that she was still alive and they became Christians. The emperor was determined to put an end to his shame and stop all the talking and had her decapitated. All because she refused to lose her virginity to the Roman ruler, Diocletian. According to my resources, Philomena died at 3:00 in the afternoon just like Jesus. Immediately following, she appealed to Pope Gregory XVI to begin an examination for the patron of Filmena which means daughter of light. On January 13, 1837, Pope Gregory XVI named ... In high school, I always had the most spirit and this week was one of my favorites. That being said, I looked forward to participating in the homecoming events this past fall football season. I gained from this experience is that both high schooland college homecomings are sociological events that can be compared in many ways. The homecomingI am most familiar with is a high school homecoming. During the week, students would practice agency meaning the freedom individuals have to choose and act (Witt, 5). If you didn t want to participate in anything, people wouldn t force you to do it. Every day we would have different theme to go with our overall theme for the week. By putting up posters the week before, we used nonverbal communication, the use of gestures, facial expressions, and other visual images to communicate (Witt, 53) to spread the word about upcoming days. By the end of the week, everyone was ready to skip our last class and go to our infamous Pep Rally. At our Pep Rally you could see the different subcultures, segment of society that shares a distinctive pattern of mores, folkways, and values that differ from the pattern of the larger society (p.59) in the separation of the classes. • 16. Violence In EuripidesBacchae Unabashedly, tragedy is brimming with violence and death, it reeks of blood and is strewn with corpses (Henrichs 173). If it is not the precipice of the action, the plot of tragedy often revolves around the build up to or the after effects of violence; what to do with the body, how to reintegrate after the fact, and even what to do when violence is taken too far, such as in the Ajax. As a pervasive force in classical antiquity, the audience of the City Dionysia would be all too familiar with the many faces of violence throughout the cusping three decades of the Peloponnesian war leading up to 405 BC. Although it is flawed to attempt to condense tragedy into a single function, it is perhaps less so to name one as a digestion of the everyday violence of the ancient world. In Euripides Bacchae, the motif of violence is first presented by means of an enraptured herdsman speech that revels in the spectacle of violent delights and foreshadows what is to come. This motif comes to a close when a second messenger reveals the tragic reality of violence and Pentheus sparagmos while the chorus of bacchants revels in their god s brutality. Through examining the chorus status and perspective on violence, the staging behind Agave wielding Pentheus head, and the contemporaneous socio political climate in Athens, the Bacchae can be examined as in dialogue with tragedy s tradition of violence. The first messenger speech sets the stage for the traditional role of violence in tragedy. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

My Most Memorable Moment Fencing is , in technical terms , the sport of fighting with rapiers (swords) in order to score points against an opponent, to me, it s simply the art of sword fighting. My most memorable moment happened to me, during my junior year in high school ( when I was still fencing in my free time ). I and some of my fencingclass entered a tournament called The Golden Gate International which took place in the gym of a State University. I still remember when my dad and I finally got to the gym, I was ecstatic, from the outside the gym looked more like a convention center. The tournament took place on the indoor basketball court ( which got divided into several sections for multiple matches ) was massive, almost twice the size of my high school gym. There were rows of seats on both side of the gym, and even stairs and a elevator that led to a balcony like, second floor where you could get a bird s eye view of the whole gym. I had six matches that day, and surprising the match where I lost is the not the most memorable. My most memorable match took place around 3 hours into the tournament, mainly because of the experience with the referee. The first thing I noticed was that the referee looked like he was completely pulled from the crowd, almost like someone s father. Millions of immigrants flocked to the United States trying to find a better way of life to be able to support their families. Industrialization in the United States provided a labor source for the immigrants. Native born Americans believed immigrants were a threat to the American way of life (ATF chapter 11) Social and economic fault lines developed between natives and immigrants, through out the late 1800 s and early 1900 s, going unnoticed until the late 1920 s when the Sacco and Vanzetticase brought awareness of issue to much of the United States. Nicola Sacco and Bartolomeo Vanzetti two obscure Italian aliens, became the focal point of one of the most controversial episodes in American history ;(ATF CH11p257) when they were arrested on May 5, 1920 for suspicious character and connection with the Slater Morrill Shoe Company robbery. By showing juror 9 that there were flaws in the evidence and the witnesses he was able to gain another follower. His enthusiasm for getting the ruling right is what drove him to be able to make this happen time and time again with every juror (Fonda Lumet, 1957). In the film we see this when Fonda discerns that racism of another juror is not acceptable. He says to juror 6 that it s always difficult to keep personal prejudice out of a thing like this (Fonda Lumet, 1957). In this statement he is showing his own abilities to discern what prejudice is and how he is trying to keep it from influencing his decisions. Even though the economy is unpredictable, not a lot of the victims are satiable by such a vague expression that has caused them to lose their property. It s a harsh comment, but the economy has turned into something that we have little influence over. One of the worst feelings is having minimal control over the consequences and outcome. Some people are afraid to make the same home buying decision again as a result, because what s stopping the economy from taking another shit on them again? The answer is probably nothing, but what are some actions these homeowners can take to ease into settling down in a home again? Foreclosure victims can try to improve their credit scoreand it could get them that approved private loan in return if needed. Saving money is also a general option for those that tend to spend a lot on luxury retail goods. Another option can be utilizing the rent to own option to have that homey feeling as soon as possible. Some people can also test their patience and attempt to wait it out until the economy exits the lavatory. When asked why his sons were not lending him a hand, he exclaims, They are working on a big deal. However, the reality was that his sons were unsuccessful. For instance, Biff fails to get a loan. This delusion largely rubbed off on both of his sons, but it had more impact on Happy. Happy begins to believe that he was a top and major functionary in the company. However, in the end, Biff realizes his folly and becomes mindful of the reality of their lack of success and that their notion of the misplaced American dream is wrong. He even points this out to his father. The theme of illusion versus reality is also apparent in Willy s marriage. Without doubt, it is portrayed in the play that Willy is unfaithful to his wife, and even Biff ends up stumbling on him while cheating. However, Willy maintains the appearance that he is constantly being honest and faithful in his marriage. His wife, Linda does not know the reality of their marriage. In the culmination of the play, they realize the facts over the make believe illusion under which the family was living and accept the truth. The Lowman family finally accepts that they are not successful, nor of great importance to the companies as they deem themselves to be. However, Willy refuses to accept this reality and completely reluctant to give up his dream, which in the end destroys him (Miller, 2001). The lack of discernment between reality and illusion has a significant impact on the Lowman family. They end up deceiving not only others but also, most unfortunately, deceiving themselves. These illusions take control of their lives, and it is only at the end, that they finally see the reality of their circumstances. However, Willy ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

If there is only Morrisons in the local community with a lack of main competitors such as ASDA, Tescoand Salisbury s, then it is very likely that Morrisons will be successful because the little businesses in the area pose little threat. Competitors The competitors of Morrisons are one of the most important stakeholders. Tesco, ASDA, Sainsbury s and smaller businesses such as Aldi and Lidl are the top competitors of Morrisons. They decide many factors such as prices, location, products and services that force Morrisons to change. If a competitor decides to lower a products price, then Morrisons will most likely have to lower the price too. If Morrisons does not do this then the competitor will sell more products and attract more customers, some that may be currently Morrison s shoppers. Competitors can also have an effect on where Morrisons opens a shop. If for example there are 2 Tesco stores in an area, there is not much sense in opening a Morrisons store nearby. If a competitor of Morrisons starts selling a product that Morrisons currently does not, it is in Morrison s interest to also supply that product. This is the same with a service. It surrounds humanity and sneaks its way into daily life. Society draws on experiences with the environment to produce art, theater, and literature. As Tim Ingold, a professor of Social Anthropology, explains, ... nature furnishes the substance, culture the form. The imaginary worlds of stories are created from sensations gained from the environment, and culture is a medium that guides the writer in expressing his or her tale. Tales of Moonlight and Rain (1776) by Ueda Akinari was written during a time of pilgrimages, uprisings, and intellectual pursuits. Though set in the past, the book shows the influences of his environment within his nine ghost stories. The continued urbanization and commercialization of society influenced the literature produced in the early modern period, as well as views on the supernatural, by expanding on the themes of travel, loyalty, and philosophy as shown in Akinari s Tales of Moonlight and Rain. As Japan became more urbanized and roads improved, many commoners became enthralled by the opportunity to explore the world around them. However, since simply traveling to see the world was prohibited by the shogunate, many explored the world through pilgrimages. These travelers wrote dairies and poetry that described the sights and sounds they experience, expanding the culture of travel through their literature. According to Anthony H. Intel s capital structure dilemma was that it was holding too much cash on hand. Eventually, there were three available strategies or alternatives that Intel could undertake in terms of cash disbursement policies. First, it could continue or expand its market repurchase program. Secondly, Intel could declare dividends to its shareholders on existing stocks. It does not stand to gain from any sale proceeds since the warrants were distributed instead of sold. The issuance of convertible debt will result in even more cash holdings for Intel, an additional $1 billion. This, at face value, does not solve Intel s capital structure dilemma of having too much cash. However, Intel can afford to incur more debt financing, since it has relatively low long term debt. By doing so, its long term debt ratio (using 1991 figure) would change to: Long Term Debt Ratio = (Long Term Debt)/(Total Assets) = (0.363 + 1)/6.292 = 21.7% This figure could be excessively high, as the industry average is 14.42%. It must be noted that after two years, debt holders would be entitled to convert these convertible bonds into Intel common stock.
