Voltaire s Use Of Optimism In Candide
Voltaire, Son of a Lawyer, exiled from Paris for poems speaking out against the regent family, before
being imprisoned in the Bastille for continuation of his writing. He remained there for 3 years. Writing
stories like Zaïre, Candide, and Letter to a First Commissioner, Voltaire s goal was to Knock mankind
on the head and assure them at the same time . This being in Voltaire s Candide the idea of Candide s
sheltered life under the philosophies of Pangloss, to then go out in the world of hardships and witness
the imperfections of the outside world.
Pangloss was a man who convinced Candide to believe the passion for maintaining that all is right
when all goes wrong with us (pg.86, Voltaire(Butt)), but throughout the story many things come up
that makes Candide question this optimism. For example, every time he gets close to living happily
ever after with Cunegonde she betrays him, he gets banished, or she is sold to slavery. As Candide
begins to question Pangloss philosophy he watches as Pangloss gets syphilis, and loses an ear, but
manages to remain optimistic. Though the landscape was bleak, they lived in the best of all possible
worlds (pg. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Candide, it is the kissing of the forbidden girl, Cunegonde. When he is banished he must mature
quickly while clashing with the needs and judgments of society. After the earthquake of Lisbon
Candide begins to question the optimistic look on life, but is reassured by Pangloss who claims that if
there is a volcano at Lisbon it could not be anywhere else. For it is impossible for things not to be
where they are, because everything is for the best. (pg. 35) Toward the end of the book Candide meets
a man who claims that men are meant to work and gods are meant to control philosophy. This is the
idea that makes the most sense to Candide because it joined Pangloss sheltering philosophy with the
realistic approach of what the world is

My Initial Assessment From Module 4
As discussed in Module 4, the workstation I described involved washing dishes on an industrial scale
where meals are served in high volumes, up to 2000 people per meal. This particular workstation is
not equipped with mechanical or automated processes which requires employees to accomplish this
massive undertaking. The workplace stressors related to this task includes, awkward postures,
excessive force, repetition, and compression. During my initial assessment from Module 4, I identified
significant posture issues regarding excessive bending and twisting from the trunk and waste which
could lead to disc bulges, muscle strain and lower back WMDSs. I also identified excessive force
hazards regarding relocating, lifting, pulling and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Step 4 (Wrist Twist) was scored as a +1 because minimal twisting action were required. For step 5, the
precious scores were plotted in Table A of the RULA guide which resulted in an overall score of 4.
Step 6 and step 7 both resulted in a +1 score due to the repetitiveness of the process and the weight of
the objects handled by the employee. Step 8 consisted of adding the values of steps 5 7 (4+1+1
respectively) to indicate an overall wrist/arm score of 6. Step 9 (Neck Position) resulted in a +2
because the employee s neck primarily stayed within the 0 20 degree range. Step 10 (Trunk Position)
in a +3 because the individual was bent forward at a 20 60 degree angle. Step 11 (Legs) resulted in a
+1 because the employee s legs were stable and supported. Using Table B (Trunk Posture Score)
resulted in a score of 4 for step 12. Steps 13 and 14 both resulted in a +1 score because the of the
weight of the objects handled and number of repetitive tasks. Step 15 indicated a final score of 6 for
the neck, trunk and legs. Plotting the final scores while using Table C of the RULA guide resulted in a
final score of 7. This result indicates that major ergonomics risk factors were prevalent at this
workstation and significant engineering and administrative controls are needed. (Stack, Ostrom,
Wilhelmsen, 2016) Much like the RULA assessment tool the Rapid Entire Body Assessment (REBA)

Tipping Research Paper
Moving takes a lot of work, both physically and emotionally. It can be a very trying time, even for the
most organized individuals. If you hire movers to assist you with your move, and they exceed your
expectations, be sure to thank your movers for their efforts with a fair tip.
Tipping Is Not Required
Within the moving industry, tipping is not required; it is optional. Unlike in the restaurant industry,
where servers rely on tips to supplement their wages, movers are generally adequately compensated
for their time. However, when a mover does an exceptional job, they do appreciate earning a tip for
their efforts.

You can provide them with a gift card to a local restaurant, so they can enjoy a meal out when they are
not on the job. If you provide them with a gift card to a restaurant, make sure there is enough on the
card to cover a meal and drinks at that restaurant for them and a companion. You could also provide
them with a small gift card to a local or popular store in your area.
Cash: Finally, you can tip your movers with cash. Unlike when going out to eat, you don t have to
base your tip on what you are paying the moving company. If your move took all day, a tip of $20 per
mover would be adequate and fair. If your moving job was really small and only took a few hours, a
tip of $10 per mover would work. These are just suggestions; if you feel like your movers were
exceptional, or did a great job with a tough move, feel free to tip them more.
Keep in mind that tipping is not required within the moving industry; however, it is a great way to say
thank to your movers if they did an exceptional job and made your moving experience less stressful. If
you think you might want to tip your movers, make sure you have the means necessary to tip them at
the end of your move; you may not see your moving crew after

U.s. Federal Election Commissions
In the land of politics, the more money that one has is the better. This is no exception when it comes to
campaigns and elections. The goal of any political campaign is to get their nominee the votes they
need to win. Whether this is through negative or positive campaign tactics, one thing can fuel a
campaigns success is money. Money in a campaign means that more advertising can be bought. This is
the perfect way to get the candidate seen by the public and is also a way to paint a negative picture of
the other candidate. However, questions can be raised where does the money that funds campaigns or
campaign advertisement come from, should there be regulations imposed to monitor where it comes
from and what part of the campaign does this money fund? Questions like these and more were
answered in the Supreme Court Case Citizens United Vs. Federal Election Commissions and many
were not happy about this ruling. Citizens United is a known for being a non profit organization that
fought for the rights of citizens. They believed that United States citizens should know what is going
on in the government and be in control (Citizens United Foundation, 2016). It is important to Citizens
United that all citizens are aware of policies that are in place. What impact certain laws will have on
their daily lives and the ethics of those that are elected into office. Federal Election Commissions is

The Power of Conformity Essay
The Power of Conformity
Conformity refers to an individual s behavior that is performed because of group pressure, even
though that pressure might not involve a direct request. Many people want to think that they are
conformist enough so that they are not looked upon as strange to others and nonconformist enough to
demonstrate that they are capable of thinking by themselves. For many years, psychologists have been
interested in human conformity. Usually when people are in groups, they behave according to how
those in the group behave. That indicates that conformity can affect a person s behavior and make a
person do things that may be against their ethics, attitudes, and morals. The study of ... Show more

knew what to do and what would happen.
An experimenter held up one of the cards and the subjects had to match on of the lines with the single
line. For the first two cards, the seven matched the two pairs on lines correctly. The eighth subject
answered correctly as well. On the third pair of cards, the seven subjects answered wrong to see if the
eighth subject would conform or answer correctly. Asch found out that 75% of the subjects conformed
at least once in the trials, but not one person conformed every time. The other 25% did not conform
with any of the groups decisions. Some of the experiments had the subjects write down their answer
so the line lengths could be accurately judged. In these experiments, 98% of the real subjects
answered correctly. Asch found out many things from the experiment. Some of the findings are social
support, attraction and commitment to the group, size of the group, and sex. Asch did the same
experiment with a slight variation. He changed the answers of the seven subjects so that one of them
always gave the right answer. This comforted the real subject and only 5% of the subjects agreed with
the group answer. This social support experiment showed that if one person gives the same answer
then a person feels more comfortable. Also, other experiments showed that the more attracted and

Why People Should Stay In Stillness Research Paper

There are probably two things that could happen. Either you won t be able to sit still for 10 minutes. If

We live in a world where our to do lists are long and our time and energy are limited. It is then not

even judging the if their child really needs it. We also do things to keep up with society, friends, and

The Corruption Of India And The Problem Of Abortion In India
All around the world, an abortion is a very controversial topic and is talked about immensely. In
America, when you hear people talk about an abortion, you hear them make a big deal about it. On the
other hand, within the Hindu religion in India, that is a different story. The first problem that arises
with regard to an abortion in India is how differently Hindu women are treated in comparison to
Hindu men. As a whole, the government of India is trying to control the people and the population of
the country by controlling the female to male sex ratios. As stated in the article Sexuality, caste,
governmentality: contests over gender in India by Nivedita Menon, the government is trying to cut
down the population for the development of the country. As they are trying to do this, they are
diminishing women and the rights that they have. The concern that the government should have
should not mainly be what the women and their bodies and the lives that they live, but woman as key
to the stability and reproduction of society and the patriarchal family. As stated in the article, the
population rise might not be a problem caused by women. It might not be a female problem because
the sex ratio was at an all time low for women as the ratio was 933 females per 1000 men in the 2001
census. One of the main reasons that the sex ratio for women has gone down is because of the widely
practiced selective abortion of female foetuses.
Secondly, some people might be wondering what an

The End to Slavery in the Caribbean Essay examples
The End to Slavery in the Caribbean
The Haitian Revolution (1791 1804) was the first successful slave revolt in the Caribbean, and it was
one of the most important events in the history of the Americas. Along with the obvious human rights
benefits that the Haitian
Revolution achieved, there were some serious setbacks for the nation as well.
Between 1783 and 1789, Saint Domingue was the foremost sugar producer in the region, but by the
end of the war the economy was completely destroyed, and to this day Haiti has not come anywhere
close to reattaining its once prominent economic status in the Caribbean. The results of the revolution

India and China became major players in this solution due to their size, populations, and lack of
democracy. The British acquired Trinidad and
Guiana in the 1790s, and then flooded them with east Asians when slavery ended. Some 150,000 east
Asians traveled to Trinidad to in the nineteenth century, and 250,000 went to work in the cane fields of
Guiana.
The Two Migrations of the 19th Century
In the nineteenth century, a hundred million people crossed the oceans seeking employment. Of these
hundred million, around half were Europeans
(especially Italians and Irish) heading to European settlements like Argentina,
Chile, US, and Canada. The other fifty million were neither coming from nor going to European
settlements (this half was mainly composed of Indians and
Chinese heading to Trinidad or Guiana).
In essence, there were two migrations going on during the nineteenth century. The Africans and Asians
who left their continents in search of labor mostly engaged in wage labor at rates that the Europeans
would not accept.
The Europeans, for the most part, were coming from countries with more efficient agriculture which
yielded higher returns and wages. Another factor which divided the migration in two was racism. The
Asians who ended up in
British Guiana, Trinidad, Dutch Guiana, or Jamaica did not head to these places due to preference.

Background Checks Are The Most Effective Way Of Preventing...
Background checks are the most effective way of preventing gun crimes. There are multiple cases of
school and community shootings and how it could be prevented if there were some sort of system to
catch perpetrators. Gun violence has been an issue since the 1970s and started to peak in the 1980s
and 1990s. Gun Violence is violence committed with the use of a gun and recently there has been an
increase in gun crimes, but due to background checks they have decreased. A background check is the
process of looking up and compiling criminal records, commercial records and financial records of an
individual or an organization. It is proven that background checks reduce homicide and suicides and
background checks are the most effective way to reduce gun related crimes. Background checks are
only as effective as the person or company doing it, so when a gun company fails to complete a proper
background check, they should be held accountable for the customer s actions.
Backgrounds checks are the most effective way of preventing gun related crimes. A study, done by the

Analysis Of Bosses Seek Critical Thinking
In 1989 1995, my father took a job as a manager of the newspaper Marin Independent Journal
company called Gannett. His job required him to have bouts of experience and to be able to solve
problems quickly. When a carrier didn t show up, he needed to quickly come up with a solution to get
the mail out. Another problem he faced was how some people s mail were stolen. His own experience
with these issues and critical thinking is what helped him become manager for almost four years. In
her article, Bosses Seek Critical Thinking , but what is that , Melissa Korn claims that qualities like
critical thinking and problem solving are major assets that young workers may lack. As she explains,
critical thinking is something that is hard to describe and can have many different ways of wording it.
That, in turn makes it difficult for employers to set this bar. Korn continues to give multiple types of
definitions of critical thinking to show exactly how the definitions can differ. She then adds that an
incorporation has their candidates work through company assessments to see how they reach their
conclusions. This lets them see if their workers are qualified. Korn then proceeds to bring Jerry
Houser s opinion on how schools are encouraging students to focus too much on their social lives.
Upon reading Korn s article, i ve found that although many parts are agreeable, such as when she talks
about how difficult it is to actually describe and prescribe critical thinking, other parts like

The Retrospective Analysis Of Quality Improvement...
The article, I chose is The Retrospective Analysis of Quality Improvement Throughput Measures at a
High Volume Community Emergency Department . The article is about overcrowding in the
emergency departments; which has caused patients to leave without being seen (LWBS) by a
physician or PA and the measurements taken to solve the problem. Two major and other minor
changes were implemented to improve the situation. In this paper, I will be addressing the problem of
crowding, the strategic plan taken and how the implementations were evaluated in the effort to
improve quality care and the outcomes. The emergency department (ED) is one of the busiest place in
most hospital and time is very crucial in some case. A survey done in 2002, shows that 90% of Level 1
trauma center and hospital are considered over capacity with more than 300 beds and 62 % of ED
considered themselves the same (Milsten, A., Klein, J., Liu, Q., Vibhakar, N., Linder, L., 2014. p.13).
Some might think it is beneficial in a business aspect; however, the negative effects have more weight
than the positive. As the number of population increases, the ED started to notice a correlation with
the increasing crowd, which has created a delay in treatment and even some patient had to leave
without being seen (LWBS) by a physician or PA. Patients being unable to see a healthcare
professional in the appropriate time and LWBS have been linked to the increase in mortality, physician

Essay on Stereotypes in Anita and Me
After analysing certain interpretations in Anita Me I agree with Meera Syals opinion that if you judge
people in groups; you do not understand humanity.
I think Syal has used typical stereotypes so that viewers can relate to issues and prejudices that relate
to them also. As an Asian herself, Syal has portrayed the old fashioned traditional views of Asian
families within her Indian characters in Anita Me.
In Anita Me, Meena seems to experience a clash of both Eastern and Western cultures. She is a young
girl trapped between growing up in the Western culture where she has been born and brought up,
however her parents still want her to adapt to her Eastern Cullture although she is a British Asian and
expect her to follow ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
British Asians have finally broken out of this confined box and have many more opportunities to
pursue the careers that they d like to.
In Meena s case, perhaps her mother is trying to live out her ambitions through her as Meena has
many more advantages of living in Britain and receiving a good quality life and education.
Another point I picked on when this film was that Meena s parents seem to treat her as a baby
although she is on the brink of becoming a teenager. However her parents like any other Asian parents,
still seem to cradle her in a precious shell, and metaphorically if that shell was to crack that would
represent her growing up and going against her parent s morals as she would be able to make
decisions for herself.
Meena s family is the only coloured family in this particular street in Tollington. Although her family
are respected and Meena thinks she is just like any other kid be it brown or white, she always seems to

We Real Cool Poem Summary
Mortality is the state of being subject to death. For centuries, authors have been pondering the answer
to the question why does someone have to die and could they escape death. In Colette Inez s poem,
Back When All Was Continuous Chuckles , the speaker and Doris have a very humorous view on
death before a tragic event occurs that enlightens the pair to reality. The poem, We Real Cool by
Gwendolyn Brooks, is about a group of pool players that describes their actions which will lead to
severe suspected consequences. In the poems, Back When All Was Continuous Chuckles by Colette
Inez and We Real Cool by Gwendolyn Brooks, reflects a theme of mortality based on the shifting
tone, the poems diction, and the child like speaker. The tone in both of ... Show more content on

Colette Inez uses diction to aid in developing the tone to cause a surprising emotion from the reader.
The author uses words that are carefree and almost playful, such as silly , freaky and har har to
contrast what is really occurring during the poem. It is not until the last stanza that the author depicts a
depressing and somber mood that catches the readers off guard. This showcases that the realization
that everyone is subject to death is unexpected and unpredictable. However, Gwendolyn Brooks uses
diction to add a sense of identity by using the word we instead of I, he, or she. This particular example
of diction creates a group of individuals that are defined by their rebellious action and are at odds with
society. The group identity delays or cripples the awareness of mortality and increases the strength of
the belief in immortality. The authors utilization of diction is not the only major contrast there is in
these two poems there is also the difference in the child like

Essay on Home Sweet Home
Home Sweet Home
How would you feel if you went into a business, to fill out an application for a job, and had to leave
the section blank that was asking for your address? I am sure that you might feel lost, sad, or even
embarrassed. On the other hand, how would you feel if you were able to fill in the section asking for
your address, but did not feel like you could call this place home? Maybe you would have feelings of
being alone, not loved, or not even cared about.
I always hurt for people, that I see on the streets, that are homeless, and I wish that I could do
something for them. But, I pity those who have a house and cannot consider it a home. Home is not a

I strongly disagree and believe that if someone cannot consider their house a home, it has a lot to do
with the attitudes of those living in it. I also believe that a house is the place where most teenagers
remain until, at least, the age of eighteen because of not being able to afford their own house. On the
other hand, they all belong to a home where, whether or not they admit it, they will always have a
loving family to welcome them into their hearts. Many of them tend to feel this way because as they
grow older they begin to only think of themselves and become very self centered or selfish. These
feelings of selfishness usually do not change until teenagers begin progressing into adulthood. If a
teenager sees how their selfishness negatively affects their family and they begin to change their ways,
while still in their teenage years, this change is usually the cause of a bad event that left them lonely
and in the dark. This event could have been something along the lines of tough love from family
members which caused this person to look back on events they regretted from the past and helped
them to look forward to changing these actions for a better future. Many of my friends complain about
not being happy at home and how much they just cannot wait to move out of the house. When I hear
them complaining about this, the first thing that comes to my mind is, igrave; How do you expect
yourself to experience the true feeling of a home if you never make the best

The Reality Of Television Series
We live in a century where most all the things are normal in today s day, or maybe that is the way I see
things. I was born in the 90 s, where most of the children didn t have a cellphone, instead they had
bicycles, dirt and not stress at all. There were good times back then. Today we have smart phones,
laptops, tablets, and of course we have Netflix, a global provider of streaming movies and TV series. I
have to mention that there is one TV show in particular that has captivated my eyes, its name; The
Walking Dead . Maybe the title of this American horror drama television series sounds a little
mysterious and scary, first of all, because the serious shows a world overrun by zombies, but besides
that, I have learned a lot from this TV show. One of the first things that I want to mention is that I like
this TV show not because it has a lot of suspense and special effects, but for the way it can easily be
related to this world. The Walking Dead is about a sheriff who awakens from a long comma to
confront a new world full of zombies that he never could imagine he would live. He reunites with his
family and becomes the leader of a group he forms with other survivors. Together they struggle to
survive in and adapt to a world filled with zombies and some humans who are even more dangerous
than the zombies themselves, but, why I relate this series with our world? We don t kill zombies, or
have guns. I think each of us has different expectation and I am sure that

Personal Statement On The Importance Of Self Awareness
Introduction
The purpose of this learning journal is to demonstrate the development of my learning and
understanding of the importance of self awareness in relation to leadership. In order to pursue my
personal growth and career development I have kept a record of collection of ideas throughout the
entire class in order to improve my leadership quality to achieve my desired goals by maximizing my
strength and minimizing the weaknesses. Hence, in this journal I have chosen the four areas of
leadership which influence my interpersonal relationship as a leader.
Personal Leadership
Personal leadership is regarded as important quality to a leader where a leader himself is motivated to
do things. In pursuance of achieving such kind of leadership quality one should see himself as a role
model. This can be achieved by setting high standards of responsibility. In other words it is the
responsibility for all aspects of your life and leading it in the direction that suits best for you (Career et
al., 2015). In my view, to develop your personal leadership skills, you should have a positive attitude
in making your decisions that best suits you and making your own choices for positive outcomes. As
stated by the meaning for personal leadership, making decisions at your best interest and taking full
responsibility for the decisions you made helps you develop your ability to be an effective leader.
Hence, adopting such kind of personal leadership will help me improve my decision making

Music Theory As A Worship Leader
There are many ways to incorporate music theory as a worship leader and as a worship team. As a
leader, there are very significant benefits to having a strong understanding of music theory including a
greater ability to communicate to the team members according to their understanding, a better
understanding of what you want from the band technically, and a greater proficiency in music which
allows you to connect better with stronger musicians and train up weaker ones. As a worship team,
integrating music theory comes with its own benefits and challenges. All worship bands need some
level of music theory in order to function at any level of efficiency. So the contrast made here will
between those who use very little music theory, such as those who have chord charts provided and
nothing else, and those who may rely completely off of sheet music. Of course in this issue, as it is
with many issues, it is a matter of balance and there is a sweet spot in between these two views. Many
worship leaders learned how to play guitar or piano just well enough to play and sing at the same time
before being pushed out to lead worship. That s my story. As soon as I could strum chords and sort of
sing at the same time, I started to lead for the high school group at my church. I knew very little about
theory, although I knew some from my time learning piano as a child and playing clarinet for a year. I
usually played alone or with another singer or cajonist. I didn t know harmony

How did the Reformation affect German society in the 16th and 17th centuries?
Part A: Identification and Evaluation of Sources
This report will explore how did the Reformation affect German society in the 16th and 17th
centuries. The Reformation took place mainly during the 16th century and many things resulted from
that. It was a big turning point for society when everything was changing with the politics, education
received, and religion people had. This started when the power of the church was beginning to break
and the Church had an enormous amount of power over people before the Reformation. The research
done for this essay was based off primary and secondary sources that discuss the effects the
reformation had on German society. Dr. Jack L. Arnold s writes The Cause and Results of the
Reformation , which described several general effects the Reformation had on society. Karen E.

several areas around Europe including Germany.

History of Internet
Before the the Internet was created, linking the world, human beings were already thinking with a
connected mind. While messages obviously were unable to be transferred electronically, humans
invented different ways to trade information and news with other people. Firstly was the post. In order
to send a friend a message, a letter would have had to been written and mailed. Mailing messages was
a long process, often taking days to get one message to another person. This method (still used today)
was not the most convenient because there is no urgency or speed in mailing a letter. Luckily in the
mid 1800 s the telegraph was invented. Sent for the first time in 1838, the telegraph was the first
instance of sending a message (4). A telegraph is defined as the transmission of textual or symbolic
messages without the physical exchange of an object. This is the first instance of a message being sent
in a virtual sense (2). While messages could be delivered through the mail within a matter of days, a
telegraph could be transmitted live. At the time this was quite a feat. When studying the creation of the
internet, it is important to remember that not one single man directly created the web that we know
today. Rather, many brilliant minds, over time, added and refined the experience for the greater good.
Originally, the earliest version of the internet was constructed as a tool for US warfare. The United

What Affects Safety When Riding Bicycle
Safety is a very ambiguous term that refers to a condition of being protected or being free of risk or
danger [72]. The truth is that there is no such thing as being 100% safe. Every action that a person
takes or can take possesses a degree of risk. People tend not to think about risk unless they are doing
something extreme or out of the ordinary. Nevertheless, many daily activities that people do have a
high degree of risk but are often overlooked because they are daily activities. A perfect example of this
is bicycling. Unlike cars and other transportation vehicles, bicycles do not have a factor of safety .

External factors are usually the cause of crashes because people don t or can t see them coming, and in
most cases there is almost no time to react. No one rides a bicycle expecting a car to hit them any

that may affect the rider and design a product that limits any type of bicycle accident. The goal of this
project is to identify the most common crash scenarios for cyclist with motor vehicles and create a
device that prevents them from happening. The following section will review different crash scenarios
as well as the internal and external factors that affected the outcome of these scenarios.

1993 World Trade Center Bombing
On February 26, 1993, Middle Eastern inspired terrorism truly hit the United States homeland. A small
group of seven terrorists rented a van, parked it in the underground parking garage of the World Trade
Center, departed and then detonated it. The explosion resulted in six killed, more than one thousand
injured, and a nearly 100 foot crater that was several stories deep. (FBI, 2008).
The ensuing investigation involved the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and New York Joint
Terrorism Task Force and many FBI agents worldwide. The investigation revealed many clues. The
first was the vehicle identification number for the rented van, which led to the arrest of Mohammad
Salameh. More clues eventually led to the arrest of five other members of the group.
After the attack, the Port Authority spent vast sums of money to repair the building as well as
improving the operational and safety capabilities of the facility. Security was strengthened and all
visitors were required to be screened and receive visitor badges. A radio repeater was also installed to
improve communications within the entire complex. (Aftermath, 2014).

The counties that she mostly covers are Red willow, Furnas, Hitchcock, Hays county. She travels

be good at it so they wanted her to apply for the job. Anne said she had never really had any interest in

Nicolas Maduro s Protest In Venezuela
For months, protesters have voiced their frustrations with President Nicolas Maduro by rioting on the

It was obvious that Maduro would not win an election, so the Venezuelan Supreme Court, filled with
government loyalists, took legislative power away from the National Assembly. Therefore, all three
branches of the government were ruled by the United Socialist Party and the opposition has no power.
So, Nicolas Maduro was granted power amongst the people s rage. Even Donald Trump, the president
of the United States, has spoken out against Maduro. He stated that Maduro is a not a president, but a
dictator. He also emphasizes that Maduro will lose if there is an election. Additionally, money
problems have fueled the protestors irritation. Venezuela is losing money by year and had only about

There are six sections in the response/summary forms (Jarosewich, Pfeiffer, Morris, 2002). Section
one is for identifying information of the student; while section two is where the assessor records the

student s performance against other gifted and talented students. Section four, five, and six all further
detail the raw score of the student by converting the raw score into percentiles, etc. Once the scores
are completed they can be assessed against the individual scales. Based on the student s scores, a

fair to good (r .59 to .79) for gifted students and excellent (r .80) for average students and students
with handicaps (Jarosewich, Pfeiffer, Morris, 2002, p. 329). Inter rater reliability measures the test s
reliability and consistency across raters (Jarosewich, Pfeiffer, Morris, 2002). GATES does not provide
any information regarding inter rater reliability. Validity Validity is the assessment of the test s

Automatic Temperature Fan Speed Control
INTRODUCTION: This is a standard circuit which can be used to adjust the brightness of mains
lights and the speed of AC motors. It uses a triac, diac and has a radio frequency interference (RFI)
noise suppression circuit built into it as well. The circuit controls the average power to a load through
the triac by phase control. The AC supply is applied to the load for only a controlled fraction of each
cycle. The triac is held in an OFF condition for a portion of its cycle then is triggered ON at a time
determined by the circuit. Each time the triac is turned on, the load current changes very quickly a few
micro seconds from zero to a value determined by the lamp resistance and the value of the mains
voltage at that instant in time. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At this instant in time no current is flowing in either direction. This is the point at which a dimmer is
electronically synchronized to turn the power ON or OFF. By chopping the waveform at the zero
crossing point, smooth dimming can be achieved without the lamp flickering. This turning on and off
of the power device occurs every time the mains crossing point is reached (half phase), 100 or 120
times per second. Typically light dimmers are manufactured using a Triac or Thyristor as the power
control device. These electronic parts are semiconductors not dissimilar to transistors. A Thyristor is a
Uni. directional device and hence, because AC power flows in both directions, two are needed. A triac
is a bidirectional device and therefore only one is needed. An electronic circuit determines the point in
time at which they turn ON (conduct). The ON state continues until the next zero crossing point, at
which point the device turns itself OFF. The electronic circuit then provides a delay, which equates to
the dimness of the lamp, before turning the control device back on. The slight capacitance of the load,
filters the chopped waveform resulting in a smooth light output. Some controllers use a
microprocessor control with the above timing function being handled by an analogue circuit. More
sophisticated systems, called digital dimmers, operate the switching direct from microprocessor. This
has the advantage of greater reliability, quieter operation, lower cost and smaller

Protein And Carbohydrates Essay
Protein and carbohydrates are both macronutrients required for health reasons. But which one of these
macronutrients before a run affects running performance more favorably? Most people recognize
protein as something that helps build stronger muscles. But is that the only thing that protein helps
with? Carbohydrates which are also called sugar is stored as glycogen in the muscles and comes from
healthy (fruit) and unhealthy (candy) places. Researchers were curious to know, what macro nutrient
has a more favorable effect on running, protein or carbohydrate (sugar)? People can improve their
running by improving their diet. Sugar is a carbohydrate. When runners eat sugar the sugar is turned
into glucose in our blood. Then it is stored into the muscles which are called glycogen. Glycogen
gives people the energy to run for a longer amount of time. Sugar is energy. Runners mostly eat
natural sugar like fruits because of the vitamins and minerals and not processed sugar like candy and
junk food which can cause diseases like diabetes. Glycogen can be stored through a runner s liver as

humans and give them energy, than having candy or junk food that will potentially hurt the stomach.
The great thing about protein is that not only does it help humans lose weight, but it is a backup for
sugar. What this researcher means is that when runners run out of energy in their muscles, then protein
will give the muscles energy. Protein is used to help the muscles heal faster after running. The runners
will drink a protein shake after their run to help their muscles heal from the soreness from their

The Benefits of Attending a Community College Essay example
A look back at the institution of education over the past 20 years will reveal that once upon a time a
bachelor s degree was long since considered the marker of ultimate success, the highest level of
achievement that one could make in their lives. In those days, if for some reason you failed to march
across the stage on graduation day after an epic, four year stretch of high tuition, long nights studying,
and unrelenting professors that found great joy in riding your back, then you had indeed failed at life.
Attendance at a technical college or local 2 year school was deplorably referenced to as loser s
territory and if you dared to enroll in one anyway and followed through to graduation, well you were
congratulated but to a lackluster ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By taking these steps, you are in complete control of your education and which directions it will turn
in. It will be forward moving rather than stalled and undecided, which can potentially lead to higher
bills as a direct result of your extended enrollment beyond the intended 2 year stay.
This is not the only way that you can save by going to a community college. Chances are a larger
university is not near your home. A school closer to home allows you to stay home and cut your bills
another way by eliminating room and board fees and transportation expenses. Driving across town and
maintaining your sometimes drastically lower living expenses sounds much better than the usurious
bill many find themselves incurring at a larger school miles away from home.
Build a Solid Work History
Now that more people are earning degrees than they did two decades ago, employers are requiring
applicants to have some type of experience listed on their resume if they expect serious consideration
of their resume. In the past, all one needed was a crisp degree, bright and shiny, to hand over to a
prospective employer to get on a desired company in your respective field. Those days are gone. To be
competitive in today s job market, with longevity, you must have referenced experience from someone
of power to vouch for your basic job

Beat The Meat Essay
Meat, everyone loves meat. Well, except for vegetarians. I for one am a meat lover; if you asked me to
choose between a healthy salad and an oily heart attack burger, I would go for the burger. I eat fast
food once in a while, and I do like the burgers. At times, I would wonder where the meat comes from
since it tastes different from burgers that come from actual restaurants. Many people other than me eat
fast food daily and have become a habit for them. In addition, due to the rise in costumers, fast food
industries opened many more restaurants, which led to a higher demand of meat. Due to this high
demand for meat, meat industries are starting to use various ways to produce meat quickly. However,
speeding up the processes can cause meat ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This can cause cows to be infected with diseases from the dead animals they ve eaten. Since we re the
ones that are going to be eating the meat from the cow, we re practically eating all the dead animal and
feces that the cow has eaten. In fact, we could get food poisoning or contract diseases. Workers in the
Slaughterhouses contribute to the contamination of the meat because of human error. Contamination
can happen at any time when the cow is going through the process of being taken apart. First, the cows
that go into the slaughterhouse are covered in feces in the feedlots. The workers have to remove the
hides carefully to make sure that none of the feces touch the meat. When the Gutters in the
slaughterhouses eviscerate the digestive system from a cow, pieces of dirt and manure could mix in
with the meat. If the job isn t carried out carefully and precisely, the digestive system could spill all
over the place; on the floor, the table, the conveyor belt and the meat. Schlosser said A former IBP
gutter told me that it took him six months to learn how to pull out the stomach and tie off the intestines
without spillage. At best, he could guy two hundred consecutive cattle without spilling anything.
Inexperienced gutters spill manure far more often. Even if it s an expert gutting a cow, there are often
times when a mistake is made due to human error. At

Batgirl Cover Analysis
Did DC Comics do the right thing by pulling the cover of Batgirl #41 after receiving criticism on
social media? Artist Rafael Albuquerque created the design as a tribute to Alan Moore, the English
writer, whom he admired for the comic Batman: The Killing Joke. In fact, DC Comic s purpose was to
use variant covers as a 75th anniversary celebration of villains foro collectors. The cover sparked
controversy with the image of the Joker painting a red smile face on a terrified Batgirl while holding a
gun pointing downward in the other hand. Many people took to social media to voice their opinion on
the violent, and out of character image for the series of Batgirl comic books. The Joker is a villain who
is a criminal mastermind and is expected to

My Trip To Harlem
By the time I started the first grade of school, my interest of our past had already sprouted enough to
be easily cultivated by teachers and docents on school field trips to museums and local historical sites.
These enthusiastic journeys were shaping my personality to learn more about different cultures. I was
fortunate to take a holiday in Europe between my sophomore and junior year of high school. More
importantly the trip began and ended with a stop in New York. Once there I could see firsthand, from
the Bowery to Harlem, all the different cultures I had only read about. I was delighted to take my first
bite of a real pastrami sandwich amongst Orthodox Jews at Carnegie s Delicatessen. Being verklempt

  • 2. Voltaire s Use Of Optimism In Candide Voltaire, Son of a Lawyer, exiled from Paris for poems speaking out against the regent family, before being imprisoned in the Bastille for continuation of his writing. He remained there for 3 years. Writing stories like Zaïre, Candide, and Letter to a First Commissioner, Voltaire s goal was to Knock mankind on the head and assure them at the same time . This being in Voltaire s Candide the idea of Candide s sheltered life under the philosophies of Pangloss, to then go out in the world of hardships and witness the imperfections of the outside world. Pangloss was a man who convinced Candide to believe the passion for maintaining that all is right when all goes wrong with us (pg.86, Voltaire(Butt)), but throughout the story many things come up that makes Candide question this optimism. For example, every time he gets close to living happily ever after with Cunegonde she betrays him, he gets banished, or she is sold to slavery. As Candide begins to question Pangloss philosophy he watches as Pangloss gets syphilis, and loses an ear, but manages to remain optimistic. Though the landscape was bleak, they lived in the best of all possible worlds (pg. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Candide, it is the kissing of the forbidden girl, Cunegonde. When he is banished he must mature quickly while clashing with the needs and judgments of society. After the earthquake of Lisbon Candide begins to question the optimistic look on life, but is reassured by Pangloss who claims that if there is a volcano at Lisbon it could not be anywhere else. For it is impossible for things not to be where they are, because everything is for the best. (pg. 35) Toward the end of the book Candide meets a man who claims that men are meant to work and gods are meant to control philosophy. This is the idea that makes the most sense to Candide because it joined Pangloss sheltering philosophy with the realistic approach of what the world is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. My Initial Assessment From Module 4 As discussed in Module 4, the workstation I described involved washing dishes on an industrial scale where meals are served in high volumes, up to 2000 people per meal. This particular workstation is not equipped with mechanical or automated processes which requires employees to accomplish this massive undertaking. The workplace stressors related to this task includes, awkward postures, excessive force, repetition, and compression. During my initial assessment from Module 4, I identified significant posture issues regarding excessive bending and twisting from the trunk and waste which could lead to disc bulges, muscle strain and lower back WMDSs. I also identified excessive force hazards regarding relocating, lifting, pulling and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Step 4 (Wrist Twist) was scored as a +1 because minimal twisting action were required. For step 5, the precious scores were plotted in Table A of the RULA guide which resulted in an overall score of 4. Step 6 and step 7 both resulted in a +1 score due to the repetitiveness of the process and the weight of the objects handled by the employee. Step 8 consisted of adding the values of steps 5 7 (4+1+1 respectively) to indicate an overall wrist/arm score of 6. Step 9 (Neck Position) resulted in a +2 because the employee s neck primarily stayed within the 0 20 degree range. Step 10 (Trunk Position) in a +3 because the individual was bent forward at a 20 60 degree angle. Step 11 (Legs) resulted in a +1 because the employee s legs were stable and supported. Using Table B (Trunk Posture Score) resulted in a score of 4 for step 12. Steps 13 and 14 both resulted in a +1 score because the of the weight of the objects handled and number of repetitive tasks. Step 15 indicated a final score of 6 for the neck, trunk and legs. Plotting the final scores while using Table C of the RULA guide resulted in a final score of 7. This result indicates that major ergonomics risk factors were prevalent at this workstation and significant engineering and administrative controls are needed. The Power of Conformity Essay The Power of Conformity Conformity refers to an individual s behavior that is performed because of group pressure, even though that pressure might not involve a direct request. Many people want to think that they are conformist enough so that they are not looked upon as strange to others and nonconformist enough to demonstrate that they are capable of thinking by themselves. For many years, psychologists have been interested in human conformity. Usually when people are in groups, they behave according to how those in the group behave. That indicates that conformity can affect a person s behavior and make a person do things that may be against their ethics, attitudes, and morals. The study of ... • 9. The Corruption Of India And The Problem Of Abortion In India All around the world, an abortion is a very controversial topic and is talked about immensely. In America, when you hear people talk about an abortion, you hear them make a big deal about it. On the other hand, within the Hindu religion in India, that is a different story. The first problem that arises with regard to an abortion in India is how differently Hindu women are treated in comparison to Hindu men. As a whole, the government of India is trying to control the people and the population of the country by controlling the female to male sex ratios. As stated in the article Sexuality, caste, governmentality: contests over gender in India by Nivedita Menon, the government is trying to cut down the population for the development of the country. As they are trying to do this, they are diminishing women and the rights that they have. The concern that the government should have should not mainly be what the women and their bodies and the lives that they live, but woman as key to the stability and reproduction of society and the patriarchal family. As stated in the article, the population rise might not be a problem caused by women. It might not be a female problem because the sex ratio was at an all time low for women as the ratio was 933 females per 1000 men in the 2001 census. One of the main reasons that the sex ratio for women has gone down is because of the widely practiced selective abortion of female foetuses. Secondly, some people might be wondering what an ... On the other hand, they all belong to a home where, whether or not they admit it, they will always have a loving family to welcome them into their hearts. • 24. Personal Statement On The Importance Of Self Awareness Introduction The purpose of this learning journal is to demonstrate the development of my learning and understanding of the importance of self awareness in relation to leadership. In order to pursue my personal growth and career development I have kept a record of collection of ideas throughout the entire class in order to improve my leadership quality to achieve my desired goals by maximizing my strength and minimizing the weaknesses. Hence, in this journal I have chosen the four areas of leadership which influence my interpersonal relationship as a leader. Personal Leadership Personal leadership is regarded as important quality to a leader where a leader himself is motivated to do things. In pursuance of achieving such kind of leadership quality one should see himself as a role model. This can be achieved by setting high standards of responsibility. In other words it is the responsibility for all aspects of your life and leading it in the direction that suits best for you (Career et al., 2015). In my view, to develop your personal leadership skills, you should have a positive attitude in making your decisions that best suits you and making your own choices for positive outcomes. As stated by the meaning for personal leadership, making decisions at your best interest and taking full responsibility for the decisions you made helps you develop your ability to be an effective leader. Hence, adopting such kind of personal leadership will help me improve my decision making ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 25. Music Theory As A Worship Leader There are many ways to incorporate music theory as a worship leader and as a worship team. As a leader, there are very significant benefits to having a strong understanding of music theory including a greater ability to communicate to the team members according to their understanding, a better understanding of what you want from the band technically, and a greater proficiency in music which allows you to connect better with stronger musicians and train up weaker ones. As a worship team, integrating music theory comes with its own benefits and challenges. All worship bands need some level of music theory in order to function at any level of efficiency. So the contrast made here will between those who use very little music theory, such as those who have chord charts provided and nothing else, and those who may rely completely off of sheet music. Of course in this issue, as it is with many issues, it is a matter of balance and there is a sweet spot in between these two views. Many worship leaders learned how to play guitar or piano just well enough to play and sing at the same time before being pushed out to lead worship. That s my story. As soon as I could strum chords and sort of sing at the same time, I started to lead for the high school group at my church. I knew very little about theory, although I knew some from my time learning piano as a child and playing clarinet for a year. I usually played alone or with another singer or cajonist. • 26. Reformation Affect German Society In The 16th And 17th... How did the Reformation affect German society in the 16th and 17th centuries? Part A: Identification and Evaluation of Sources This report will explore how did the Reformation affect German society in the 16th and 17th centuries. The Reformation took place mainly during the 16th century and many things resulted from that. It was a big turning point for society when everything was changing with the politics, education received, and religion people had. This started when the power of the church was beginning to break and the Church had an enormous amount of power over people before the Reformation. The research done for this essay was based off primary and secondary sources that discuss the effects the reformation had on German society. Dr. Jack L. • 28. History Of Internet On The World Josh Margolis EMF140 November 2, 2015 History of Internet Before the the Internet was created, linking the world, human beings were already thinking with a connected mind. While messages obviously were unable to be transferred electronically, humans invented different ways to trade information and news with other people. Firstly was the post. In order to send a friend a message, a letter would have had to been written and mailed. Mailing messages was a long process, often taking days to get one message to another person. This method (still used today) was not the most convenient because there is no urgency or speed in mailing a letter. Luckily in the mid 1800 s the telegraph was invented. Sent for the first time in 1838, the telegraph was the first instance of sending a message (4). A telegraph is defined as the transmission of textual or symbolic messages without the physical exchange of an object. This is the first instance of a message being sent in a virtual sense (2). While messages could be delivered through the mail within a matter of days, a telegraph could be transmitted live. At the time this was quite a feat. When studying the creation of the internet, it is important to remember that not one single man directly created the web that we know today. Rather, many brilliant minds, over time, added and refined the experience for the greater good. Originally, the earliest version of the internet was constructed as a tool for US warfare. • 38. Automatic Temperature Fan Speed Control INTRODUCTION: This is a standard circuit which can be used to adjust the brightness of mains lights and the speed of AC motors. It uses a triac, diac and has a radio frequency interference (RFI) noise suppression circuit built into it as well. The circuit controls the average power to a load through the triac by phase control. The AC supply is applied to the load for only a controlled fraction of each cycle. The triac is held in an OFF condition for a portion of its cycle then is triggered ON at a time determined by the circuit. Each time the triac is turned on, the load current changes very quickly a few micro seconds from zero to a value determined by the lamp resistance and the value of the mains voltage at that instant in time. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At this instant in time no current is flowing in either direction. This is the point at which a dimmer is electronically synchronized to turn the power ON or OFF. By chopping the waveform at the zero crossing point, smooth dimming can be achieved without the lamp flickering. This turning on and off of the power device occurs every time the mains crossing point is reached (half phase), 100 or 120 times per second. Typically light dimmers are manufactured using a Triac or Thyristor as the power control device. These electronic parts are semiconductors not dissimilar to transistors. A Thyristor is a Uni. directional device and hence, because AC power flows in both directions, two are needed. A triac is a bidirectional device and therefore only one is needed. An electronic circuit determines the point in time at which they turn ON (conduct). The ON state continues until the next zero crossing point, at which point the device turns itself OFF. The electronic circuit then provides a delay, which equates to the dimness of the lamp, before turning the control device back on. The slight capacitance of the load, filters the chopped waveform resulting in a smooth light output. Some controllers use a microprocessor control with the above timing function being handled by an analogue circuit. More sophisticated systems, called digital dimmers, operate the switching direct from microprocessor. This has the advantage of greater reliability, quieter operation, lower cost and smaller ...
