Double Entry Bookkeeping Essay
Double Entry Bookkeeping Question 1 a.The import by the US balance of payment will generate a
debit transaction since it will lead to payment to UK firm. The payment itself will be entered as capital
credit because it represents capital inflow to the US firm. The transaction will produce a debit entry on
the double entry bookkeeping on the merchandise trade, and the same transaction will produce a credit
entry on the capital account. This implies that the agreement by the United States firm to pay $500 in
a period of three months creates a short term asset scenario rather than a long term one. The debit
entry clearly indicated on the capital account, which is a short term transaction shows that the US
resident acquired a foreign stock. On the other hand, a credit entry on the short term capital account
reflects the disposal of merchandise by the U.K. firm. This will result in absolute balancing of the
books of accounts. b.In a transaction where the US resident pays for his imports, it produces a debit
entry on the capital account since the US resident cashed its pledge to pay $500 in a period of three
months. The same transaction by the US resident will produce a credit entry on the capital account
(short term) since the US resident disposed of a short term asset. The bank deposits are based in
London. c.In terms of balance of payments between the United States and United Kingdom, the debit
entry indicates an increase in the merchandise or stock held by the United

Gender Barriers inside Sports Essay
Gender Barriers inside Sports
Throughout the history of sports, there has always been a gender barrier. There are certain sports that
are aimed towards females and others that are directed towards males. When men or women enter a
non traditional sport for their gender, it is not widely accepted. However, there are those few athletes
that pave the way for the rest and eventually our society will change and accept the new ideas in
sports. Some people will always make judgments about the athletes who cross that gender barrier. At
the same time there are others who will respect and look up to these athletes as role models who they
will someday follow.
In the movie Pumping Iron II, women bodybuilders are faced with judgments about their ... Show

Many young boys are faced with this thought every day, because they are males participating in non
traditional sports for their gender. Just as society does not agree with women in men s sports, it does
not look highly upon men taking part in women s sports either. In the article, Stereotypes Are Often
Overrated, a young boy named Daniel Hile who is a sophomore in high school had always wanted to
join ballet, but never did. Instead, he picked Tae Kwon Do and weightlifting, which are considered to
be more masculine sports. He says that ballet is not accepted in his close minded and conservative
hometown and they stereotype male ballet dancers as being homosexuals (Stereotypes). Another ballet
dancer named Julio Bragado Young who is 20 years old, says that he was always teased in school,
because of his love for dance. Jocks would call me fag, sissy, pansy and stuff (Stereotypes).
Bill May, a 21 year old from Cicero, NY, has always wanted to compete in the Olympics for
synchronized swimming. However, it has always been strictly limited to females only. Fortunately, on
September 14, 2000, FINA (Federation Internationale de Natacion Amateur) approved men s

Japanese Immigrants During The 19th Century
In the early 19th century, there was an increase of Japanese immigrating across the states. The first
wave of Japanese immigrant settled in Kingdom of Hawaii where they were hired as contract laborers
and worked in plantations. The second wave of immigrant came to California in the1890s. According
to Kitano, the census identified more than 110,000 Japanese on the West Coast by 1920. To elaborate,
the Japanese immigrants came as single males, and employment for them consisted of physical
difficult labor, long hours of work with bad conditions, and low paying jobs. The generations of the
Japanese were categorized to research their historical background. Furthermore, the first generation
immigrant were identified as the Issei, and were those ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some Issei returned to Japan as successful men, and those who stayed in the United States typically

United States. Kitano stated, The Issei lived their lives segregated from the U.S. mainstream, and their
major interactions revolved around their families and their community. Most of them acquired just
enough knowledge about the United States in order to function but left the major of acculturation and
a more secure existence to their American born children . Moreover, the Nisei were born between
1910 and 1940, and were more acculturated to the United States in comparison to the Issei. The Nisei
were concerned and had low expectations of their future because they experienced discrimination and
prejudice. It was difficult for the Nisei to live in the U.S. because they were treated inferior although
they were U.S. citizens. The Nisei had a strong relationship with the U.S. and moved away from the
Issei to assimilate to the American lifestyle. The Sansei were born during or after World War II. After
the attack on Pearl Harbor, many Americans became suspicious of the Japanese and feared another
attack. Prejudice influenced Americans to stereotype the Japanese in negative ways, which lead for
U.S. laws to discriminate and segregate the Japanese. As a result, on December 7, 1941, the FBI

Role Of Customs And Border Protection
1 What is the role of Customs and Border Protection (CBP) in securing trade in maritime ports? The
role of the Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is to ensure all goods and people coming into the
United States lawful and keeping contraband and WMD out of the United States. Additionally
Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is responsible for international trade in and out of the United

disruption to the GTS. What are the four components of the GTS (air, sea, land, and rail transport

Madeline in John Keats The eve of St. Agnes Christabel from Samuel Taylor Coleridge s Christabel
and Madeline from John Keats The Eve of St. Agnes have many striking similarities. Throughout both
poems, the two women are constantly referred to as pure, innocent, generally good girls. They are

As Christabel is the carrier, she takes on the role of the man. Although she does not do it intentionally,
Christabel is already crossing some gender boundaries. Once she finally gets Geraldine inside of her
room, one of the first things that Christabel does is offer her some wine: O weary lady, Geraldine,/I
pray you, drink this cordial wine!/It is a wine of virtuous powers (Coleridge 7). What are Christabel s
intentions here? Is she simply being friendly, or is she perhaps hoping that she can use the alcohol to
manipulate her guest? Then, Christabel undresses, sits down, And on her elbow did recline/To look at
the lady Geraldine (Coleridge 8) as she undresses. This interest in watching Geraldine undress seems
quite uncharacteristic of Christabel, and in fact, that is when the narrator promptly jumps in to shield
Christabel s innocent eyes. After a rather questionable evening, where it can be assumed that the two
women did more than just sleep, Christabel awakens and Grows sad and soft; the smooth thin

for why she is crying. Perhaps it is because she knows that she has sinned, which she admits Sure I

Franklin died before she was credited with her information, and still today she does not get her credit

information and saw her findings they wanted to go straight and claim it as their own, but couldn t

the notes from her as you want, but if you don t understand it or explain it then it is obvious that it is

plans and stole all of her data. For these men to copy her data, not acknowledge her as the author,
plagiarized. Unfortunately at this time since Franklin herself didn t publish her data there was no well
known record besides her notes to back her up as the author, it was not an obvious enough cause to
say that Crick and Watson stole her notes. For these reasons it is why it is important to credit research

Essay On Content Writing Techniques
There are many different writing techniques one can utilize when content writing for a webpage.
Marketing products online is vastly different than the writing you would see in a novel. Visitors to a
web page typically spend less than 30 seconds on that page before moving to the next one, so you
have to make your content snappy and to the point! The more time they have to waste searching for
the information they need the less chance you have of selling your products. Webpage design and
content are crucial factors when it comes toonline marketing. Not only do you have to factor in what
your readers want to see, however you have to hit keywords so that your site will get a good ranking

how to improve your SEO and can even do it for you. They can help with anything from marketing,

Writing for your web page audience
First rule, never try and get too fancy. Typically, people will briefly skim through your web page,
meaning it s likely that all those creative minute ideas that popped into your head were not even put to
good use. Research actually suggests that only 16% of readers read every page on a web site. Many
people are online because they are in a rush; they want their information now. They don t want to have
to sift through line after line of creative writing to find the information they are looking for. Granted,
as a writer there can be a fine balance to this, as you don t want to become a robot writer. Adding in
some creativity here and there can add interesting aspects to a webpage. However, for the most part
you want to keep it as simple as possible for your information hungry audience.
Secondly, make sure you are writing for a lazy audience. Now I do not want to stereotype a lot of
online users, but the easier something can

land at the Treaty of Fort Wayne, Tecumseh gradually eclipsed his brother as the primary leader of the
movement. He traveled throughout the Midwest urging tribes to form a political confederacy to
prevent any further erosion of their lands. In November 1811, while Tecumseh was in the South
attempting to recruit the Creeks into his confederacy, U.S. forces marched against Prophetstown. In
the subsequent Battle of the Tippecanoe they defeated the Prophet, burned the settlement, and
destroyed the Indians food supplies. After returning from the South Tecumseh tried to rebuild his

the fact that factory farmed animals are not puppies, most consumers do not torture or kill the factory

typical love poem because of the narrator s tone. But that suddenly changes as the reader continues to

La Belle Dame Sans Merci Poem Analysis
Love can exist as affection, infatuation, obsession, pleasure and many more, this is because, love is
abstract, hence there is no one single interpretation of love. Love is a theme that has been embedded
into language and literature for centuries and centuries, yet due to the ever changing perception of love
people these days continues to search for a universal definition of love. Poems are able to showcase
the inner feelings and desires of a poet as well as their own unique views on love. Nevertheless,
through poems La Belle Dame sans Merci by John Keats, My Last Duchess by Robert Browning, and
Mother in a Refugee Camp by Chinua Achebe, we can explore how and why different poets present
the theme of love differently.

that the man could move on from her and live a happy life even without her presence. An enjambment

Impact of Cost-Benefit Analysis on Industry Decision...
Impact of Cost benefit analysis on industry decision making: Transportation
Cost benefit analysis (CBA), in essence, is a tool for decision making. It can be applied to almost any
kind of decision in any kind of field. In its most pure form, a CBA will aggregate the pros and cons
(positive and negative effects) of a proposal, and, if the pros (benefits) outweigh the cons (costs), the
proposal is viable. Usually, the analyst will assign monetary values to each of the costs and benefits,
hence making the analysis easier to calculate, even if the cost and benefits per se are intangible, and
thus, not directly expressible in money values. Problems often arise in how to assess the monetary
values of both tangible and intangible effects, which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Any threat to the reliability of the transportation network constitutes a vulnerable spot, a weakness.
This is of particular concern when considering sparse, rural networks, because what by urban
standards is a minor degradation (i.e. car accident, resulting in queuing, delays and diversions) may
have severe consequences if occurring in a rural setting (i.e. blocking the only access road for hours).
In the most common manner of speaking, the reliability of a transportation network can be defined as
the probability that one or more of its links functions, or rather: does not fail to function, according to
a set standard of operating variables. A non functioning, or at best, badly functioning link will impose
costs on the user in terms of loss of time, additional operation costs or other costs as a result of delays
and diversions. Transporters of perishable goods will also experience a loss of value. Few will
question that the sender, the recipient, the freight hauler, or society at large, experience additional
costs when goods or people cannot reach their destinations in time or in space (Husdal, 2004).
The increase in just in time (JIT) manufacturing operations has made a reliable travel time an
important economic factor. JIT relies on the transportation system to take advantage of lowcost labor
and manufacturing plant development costs. Producing components in several manufacturing plants

Events That Contributed To The English Reformation
The English reformation was a sequence of significant events during the year 1517 1564 in which the
Church of England had contravene from the authority of the Pope and the Roman Catholic Church in
order to make Henry VIII the king of the England Church instead of the Pope. These events, some

Radiotherapy Vs Chemotherapy Essay
In our body we have normal cells that send signals to every cell all the time and our normal cells obey
what the signals are saying. Normal cells know when they have reached their limit and when it is time
to die or to do something to themselves or to others. On the other hand, we have cancer cells, they
override the normal signaling system. For example, cancer cells do not stop dividing and growing
when they have reached their limit. Due to this, the cells keep replicating, forming like a tumor that is
growing. My point is that cancer cells grow and divide in a manner that you are not able to control,
they would invade normal tissues, organs and eventually spreading throughout the body. Cancer cells

To treat cancer or to remove doctors and scientist use surgery, chemotherapy (drugs), various types of

of tumor and the stage of the disease or other things to take into account. Scientists and researchers are
always trying to find new ways to limit the growth, spread, and kill of cancer cells. Most of our
population do not know exactly what cancer is and how it works. I highly suggest that we need to
educate our population with the definition and show them how cancer cells works. In my case, if it

Cancer cells are really important since they can spread, get to the point of stopping the function of
other cells, killing other cells and finalizing with death or stopping a function in our body. It is
important to know about cancer cells because when you are learning about them you are also learning
about how your cells work and how they function. If they know about this particular topic our

Reflection Paper On Teaching English
Reflective Narrative English has never been my preferred subject. Actually, it has been my least
preferred subject. Every day in school, I often speculated why it is essential to do so many English
affiliated tasks, and in speculating, I discovered to hate the subject without apprehending its future
benefits. Why do I find English so distasteful? I think my despise for the subject has elevated through
these last few years that I have been learning the distinct elements of English language. It wasn t
actually learning how to convey a message through speaking English that unnerved me, rather it was
getting English education in a formal learning environment like reading, writing, and grammar. These
were the stuff that once I learned them, I will be using them every day. It does felt good to know how
to read and write and even better to have a little bit knowledge of grammar. Not only did I maneuver
the knowledge to read a narrative in reading class or to perform a writing assignment, but also to read

entire course of the semester, including, how to find and composite better research through the use of

this essay I will be analysing the two poems, showing my opinions of the underlying themes and
backing them up with quotes from the poems. I will compare the poems looking at the similarities and
differences between them and also look at each one individually focusing on the imagery, structure
and the poetic devices William Blake has used. Firstly I will look at the Tyger a poem about
experience. The first thing that strikes me about this poem is the ... Show more content on

The first stanza paints a picture of a dark forest at night with a fire and a tyger running through the
forest, here the writer is using his artistic skills to create a picture in the readers mind. The first stanza
asks who could make such evil in the world as a rhetorical question, I say this as you fear evil and the
last line says Could frame thy fearful symmetry also what immortal hand or eye shows that something
that never dies must have made evil, this being God. The second stanza ask who dares make this evil
and why have they made this evil as another rhetorical question, I say this as the last line again has an
important quote what the hand dare seize the fire ? The poem then go s on to question this evil more
and asks many questions but doesn t find any answers. But why is the poem about experience ? The
poem shows it is about experience with the consistent structure and rhyming pattern as well as the
vocabulary used, the poem talks about how it is hard to gain, comparing it to a fire. Put your hand in a
fire and you are likely to get burnt. The poem talks about life at the time it was written, with the
industrial revolution and jobs such as blacksmiths mentioned ( anvil hammer ) and also relates to the
other poem I am going to be writing about, The Lamb. The Tyger is hard to understand at first with
many underlying tones and hidden meanings, the poem is well structured and written

An Essay on the Meaning of Sustainable Development
ASSIGNMENT 1.
AN ESSAY ON THE MEANING OF SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT.
Introduction:
In this essay I will discuss what sustainable development means? I will also discuss weak and strong
approaches to sustainability and how this is related to sustainable development. Finally I will discuss
how Isaac Construction in Christchurch has adopted sustainable development practices. In order to
somewhat understand what sustainable development means, you must first separate the two words and
view them both individually.
Development and sustainability discussion:
Firstly, development can be seen as progress and growth which builds over time at both societal and
individual levels. There are also three senses in which the word ... Show more content on

34). Strong sustainability as mentioned earlier in this essay is an environment centred,
balanced/sustained approach to the demands on Earths resources and for all human activities to be
within the limitations of our natural eco systems, and also to share those natural systems with other
species (Phase2.org). In weak sustainability, Patterson states manufactured capital can substitute for
losses in natural capital (p. 17), and also for that capital to be maintained from generation to
generation so human society is economically sustainable (Patterson, M., 2002, p. 17). From the strong
sustainability point of view this is negative. The perspective of strong sustainability is for natural
capital to be maintained, because you can t produce manufactured capital without natural capital.
Natural capital can perform many economic functions when it is maintained properly. Such as
environmental eco systems that support human life and the co existence of other species. Through
strong sustainability natural capital when maintained over numerous generations, allows everyone
over time to have equal access. This is difficult to do, being able to maintain natural capital over
multiple generations. It is much easier to maintain total capital and manufactured stock. This is
reflected in present day society, with declining natural stocks but increased manufactured

An Evaluation Of The Nih Clinical Trial Registry
Introduction
The number of older individuals undergoing HSCT for malignant disease has risen considerably over
the years. Between 2007 2013, 22% of allogeneic transplants and 44% of autologous transplants were
in patients older than 60 years of age1. The rise of HSCT in this age group can be attributed to the use
of reduced intensity conditioning (RIC) regimen and advances in post HSCT supportive care2,3.
HSCT is a potential curative treatment for a number of malignant hematologic diseases such as
myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS), leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma which tend to more commonly
affect the elderly population. For instance, according to the SEER database, the median age of
diagnosis of acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and MDS are 67 and 70 years respectively. Despite these
findings, the number of patients over the age of 65 undergoing allogeneic HSCT remains low4. An
evaluation of the NIH clinical trial registry revealed that 90% of HSCT clinical trials excluded older
individuals ( 75 years), 75% based on chronologic age, 39% based on performance status in the
elderly and 39% based on organ function in the elderly5. Inadequate accrual remains a problem even
for trials that allow older patients, mostly due to physician reluctance, comorbidities and performance
status6.
Low rates of HSCT in the elderly and poor enrollment in HSCT clinical trials appear to be due to
concerns regarding certain patient factors. Increasing age is associated with higher incidence of
comorbid

Financing Of Financing And Financing
I. Introduction
Financing methods of enterprises are categorized into the indirect financing and direct financing
depending on whether financial institutions such banks are involved in the financing process. The
indirect financing means financing acquired from financial institutions based on policy funds of the
government or funds formed by the financial institutions themselves. And the direct financing means
capital raising through stocks or private bonds issued in the capital market. For the last several
centuries, the financial markets have been dominated by the bank centric indirect financial market.
Today, however, the center of the financial market is moving toward the direct financial market thanks
to the development of the financial market. The capital market has become an essential element not
only of financing in the private sector but also of national economic development, because the scope
of financial transactions has expanded by a great deal by means of securities such as stocks and bonds.
To look into the past stages of the Korean economic development, a bank centric financial system was
maintained at the earlier stages while the banks played the role of a window for capital supply for the
economic development. Later, beginning in the 1990s, the Korean capital market was opened in a
phased manner in the trend of the global financial opening. Then, the Korean financial system started
to be transformed to one centered on the capital market as the opening of

Slow Loris Research Paper
After researching several species and types of animals, it became apparent that the Slow loris is a
strange and interesting animal. The Slow loris is actually a group of animals that are now being
considered individual species rather than the classification they had previously been a part of. Several
examples of these species include the Bengal slow loris (N. bengalensis), Bornean slow loris (N.
menagensis), and the Pygmy slow loris (N. pygmaeus). These animals have an odd
evolutionary/classicfication history, bodily functions, and involvement with humans. An important

Almost every species has been determined as vulnerable or endangered and the progressing loss of
their habitats and involvement in wildlife trades is only dragging the animal into a worse state. Their
habitats have been decreasing in size due to deforestation, which in turn does not allow for the proper
dispersal of their species, causing the population size to decrease even further.7 The Slow loris is
victim to the wildlife trade, most notably for domestication. Many people around the world believe the
animal to be cute and because it s cute, it can be a pet. This is not the case. Almost all Slow lorises die
due to improper domestication and handling. Since the bite of the Slow loris can be deadly, owners
and traders remove the teeth which can cause infections and potentially kill the animal.8 Also, many
of the Slow lorises that are kept as pets are subject to malnutrition due to improper care, and can
develop many health problems such as kidney failure, stress, pneumonia, infections, and either
become obese or underweight.9 Without a doubt, it is obvious that the Slow loris is a wild animal and
not an ideal animal to claim as a pet. It is difficult to fully control such treatments and outcomes
throughout the world of the Slow loris, however the future may bring the proper protection and
treatments that the Slow loris

Aristotle View On Friendship
Friendship is an important asset in the world we live in, the young needs friendship to retain them
from error, older people need it to care for them and those in their prime time need it, to do fine
actions. No one would choose to live without friends because friendship is very important and it holds
cities together.
The philosopher, Aristotle quoted friendship has A single soul dwelling in two bodies. Aristotle takes
the concept of friendship to a major level. His concept of friendship is assertive and comprehensive.
Subsequently, Aristotle divided each concept into three sections or in other words three types of
friendship. He first distinguishes and contrasts the three types of friendships. More importantly
Aristotle takes into consideration that friendship is a necessity to live, however, it is not only
necessary, but also fine. He also characterizes friendship as a virtue and as just. The three different
types of friendship correspond to the three objects of love, which are, things that are useful (advantage
friendship), things that are pleasant (pleasure friendship), and finally the third, things that are good
(good friendship).
Firstly, Aristotle observed advantage friendship as a type of friendship that the friend is not loved for
his or her own sake, however, they are loved for the sake of some good obtained from the other. This
friendship does not last according to Aristotle due to the purpose that once the benefit of the good in
the friendship comes to an end, so does the friendship, in other words, their pleasure in each other no
longer goes beyond their expectations of advantage. For each individual finds the other pleasant only
to the point that each would expect some good for themselves. Individuals with these types of
friendship, take satisfaction from each other s company just for their own sake. To elaborate a more
practical name for this type of friendship would be an acquaintance. Hence such people do not find
each other advantageous, therefore they have no need to meet. This type of friendship can be seen
amongst older people, seeing that at that age they seek for what is advantageous. In brief, friendship of
utility is often between opposite people, and is based on something that

I Really Enjoyed Holly Weeks Piece On Stressful Conversations
Intro
I really enjoyed Holly Weeks piece on stressful conversations. It aligns well with my own experience.
Her keen insight has been shared through exploration of three scenarios where the stress gets high
very easily. In each of these three examples the author lets the people in the conversation fail, this is a
thought provoking technique that stimulates introspection. Holly is counting on the reader to
remembers similar experiences that they may have gone through. The author is also provoking us to
examine the large role our subconscious has in our actions when confronted with stressful
conversations. The author provides help in solving these quarrelsome situations by describing the
processes necessary for us to improve the stress of conversation unilaterally.
Know Thyself
Know yourself, this is a common theme in many articles on communication and it is a central point in
this piece. Much of how emotions work into communication is unconscious, they seem to evolve
without our own control. Just as we felt for the characters in the examples the author provided, in
retrospect we can see our own missteps and may wish we could have handled it differently. Holly
Weeks wants us to take a step back and observe that given one type of emotional situation we
probably make the same type of mistakes every time. The author has a good word for it, tactics,
though unlike the tactics deployed consciously when running a war or wining a race, these tactics are
ones the subconscious uses to

The Cultural Phenomenon Of Reality Television
The cultural phenomenon Reality Television (TV) has become an increasingly popular genre of
television since its paroxysm onto the airwaves in 1945. The term Reality Television can be defined as
the genre of entertainment that documents the lives of ordinary individuals through the exhibition of
allegedly unscripted real life scenarios, despite inquisitive inquiries disclosing Reality TV to entail
facets of script. The primary objective of Reality TV is purely to entertain the audience. This genre of
television is appealing to viewers due to its entertainment principle/value, the audience s competency
to correlate to the characters and their situations, and the contingency it presents for escapism and
voyeurism. We can capitalise the Australian appropriation of the American popular dating Reality TV
show The Bachelor as a tool to further comprehend the purpose and appeal of Reality television. The
postulations of media s obligations to society in contrast to their current actions and media as a mirror
to society the normative theory, can also be utilised as an implement to apprehend Reality TV.
Through the strict analysis of The Bachelor and the employment of the normative theory, the purpose
and appealing factor of Reality TV can be deeply examined.
The objective of Reality TV can be elucidated as a form of entertainment. The directors attain this
principal of entertainment through the manipulation of various language and film techniques. These

Faith, Fertility and Fight: How Feminist Attributes Ultimately Defeated the Final Solution
In his speech to the National Socialist Women s League on September 8th 1934, Hitler delineated the
roles that German men and women should have in society. He proclaimed and he defined that a
woman s world should be limited to just her husband, her family, her children, and her home . The
rights of German women were greatly repressed since Nazi ideology regarding gender was extremely
traditionalist. For the National Socialists, women were to occupy traditional roles of support and care,
all in service of creating a master race. For an Aryan woman living in Nazi Germany, to be a wife and

As the testimonies of Holocaust survivors Sonia Berson, Vlakdka Meed, and Renee Firestone prove,
through their resilience and resourcefulness, that Jewish women could prevent Hitler from ultimately
attaining his Final Solution.
While some Holocaust scholarship dismisses the importance of establishing a difference between
female and male experiences during the Shoah, it is clear that experiences between men and women
followed a very gendered divide. Although the final solution certainly called for the death of every
woman, man and child defined as a Jew , it differed from any previous historical event in that it
explicitly targeted women and children rather than treating them as civilian causalities. In fact,
historians identify the Nazi brutality towards women and children as the ultimate symbol of barbarity.
Although some historians argue that examining the Holocaust through a gendered lens desecrates the
memory of the dead , it is important to remember the experiences that women had that were unique to
their sexuality. By ignoring the intrinsically female experiences of the Holocaust, scholars are greatly
doing a disservice to half of the Jewish population targeted during the Nazi genocide.
Women posed a significantly more dangerous threat to the Nazis since they had the ability to
propagate the Jewish race. From the onset of the Nazi regime, therefore, Jewish women

Determination of Reaction Rate Law from the Reaction of Crystal Violet with Sodium Hydroxide
______________________________________________ Abstract: This experiment helps determine
the rate of reaction of crystal violet while it reacts with sodium hydroxide with respect to crystal
violet. The amount of sodium hydroxide is varied in this experiment while crystal violet is kept at a
constant. The transmittance of crystal violet is observed and recorded using a colorimeter and the data
obtained is used to plot graphs which are manipulated using LoggerPro software to produce the

It must be noted that only the absolute value of the slope matters in this situation. Third order
reactions have somewhat a similar story except they require a plot of 1/concentration versus time to
determine rate of reaction. When all three graphs are plotted, the graph with the line of best fit, or the
one in which all point seem to be on a straight line is the correct one for the reaction. This is easily
drawn using the LoggerPro software. When all three graphs are drawn, the graph with the best fit line
and lowest root mean square error, or the lowest deviation from the best fit line, is the graph to be used
to determine reaction kinematics. This knowledge is acquired from the equations of the integrated rate
laws which are explained in the textbook. The solutions are mixed in small amounts in cuvettes and
inserted into the colorimeter, which reads the percentage transmittance during the time period. The
colorimeter has an enclosed space for the cuvette to be inserted making sure light from other sources
does not interfere with the reaction, hence providing accurate results. The rate of the reaction is
determined by using the equation: Rate= k [CV+] [OH ], where k is the rate constant for the reaction.
Materials: Solutions of crystal violet and sodium hydroxide were available in the laboratory which
were previously prepared of concentrations 2.00 E 5 and 2.00 E 2 respectively. Deionized water was

The League Of Nations And The Failures Of The United Nations
The United Nations is an organisation which was set up in 1945 to replace the League of Nations. The
organisation has established a charter which states the core beliefs and purposes for the UN are global
world peace and security, human rights, disarmament, humanitarian and health crisis and sustainable
development. However, this organisation has failed its intentions. The United Nations is corrupted due
to it s elitist tendencies with the 5 permanent power veto rule at the Security Council rendering any
possible actions of good to be stopped by the selfish acts of states deemed more powerful. This essay
will state the failures of the United Nations, the structure and history of the UN which explains why
this organisation is a facade for peace. The United Nations was set up in 1945 by the former president
of the United States, Franklin D. Roosevelt. The organisation began originally with only 51 member
states however it now grown to 193, although some may see this as an increase in power it has not
resulted in greater influence. The United Nations predecessor was the League of Nations, this
organisation failed due to its passive actions towards war mongers such as Hitler and questionable
altruism towards states which had a greater influence globally seen in both the Abyssinian crisis of
1935 and the Manchurian crisis in 1931. The UN was set up with a similar peacekeeping ideology of

Music Education Importance
The Importance of Music Education
Plato the philosopher once said I would teach children music, physics, and philosophy; but most
importantly music, for the patterns in music and all the arts are the keys to learning. Funds have been
cut in more than 80 percent of U.S. school districts since 2008. The very first programs to go are often
disciplines such as music, art and foreign language. This is in order to create more funding for
Science, Technology, Engineering and Math programs, also known as STEM. Although STEM
programs in public education are important, schools should include more music education because, it
increases brain activity, increases creativity in problem solving, and improves test scores.
Increases in brain activity
Build more brain matter.
Music education can actually increase brain activity and growth. One of the major things that studying
music in school can do for the brain is to increase the white and gray matter in the brain. In an article
by Christopher Bergland outlining ten ways music education increases brain activity. He said this about
a case studied from the Journal of Neuroscience(2015)
The researchers found that people who began musical training early in life had stronger connections
between motor regions. When comparing brain structure, musicians who started early showed
enhanced white matter in the corpus callosum, a bundle of nerve fibres that connects the left and right
motor regions of the brain.

The Causitive Agent of Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever
The Bacteria
Rickettsia rickettsii is the small, aerobic gram negative bacterium that is the cause Rocky Mountain

size form 0.2x0.5 µm to 0.3x2.0µm. Rickettsia belong to the phylum alpha protobacteria, which are
capable of growing in low levels of nutrients, and have a long generation time relative to other gram

The Disease
RMSF is the most common fatal human tick borne disease in the United States, with a minimal
average of 351 confirmed human cases occurring annually and undoubtedly many more going
unreported (Niebylski et al.).
There are three major symptoms associated with RMSF which usually appear after an incubation
period of five to ten days: fever, headache, and a rash. The rash is a diffuse macular (featuring
elevated discoloration) rash, is most prominent on wrists and ankles, which will usually erupt three or
four days after the onset of fever. All three of the primary symptoms are not always present in all cases
of RMSF, making it much harder to correctly diagnose the disease. Other symptoms are general
symptoms common with other types of infections such as vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal pain.
Despite the name the disease is endemic in the Carolinas, Oklahoma, and Tennessee, and is less
common in the Rocky Mountain area. About 95% of reported cases occur between April and
September. (Lyon and Kelsey).
Case fatality rate can be as high as 30% for untreated patients. With quick diagnosis and proper

Timbuk2 Case
Timbuk2: Outsourcing, Offshoring and Mass Customization Introduction: Timbuk2 was founded in
1989 by Rob Honeycutt, a San Francisco bike messenger. Honeycutt wanted to develop a messenger
bag that was rugged enough for everyday wear and tear, but chic enough to set a fashion trend. The
company founded its success based on its lean manufacturing and mass customization principles. With
many of the American companies now outsourcing their manufacturing processes to China, it became
hard for Timbuk2 executives to ignore the labor cost benefits that Chinese manufacturing would
provide. Dealing with different channels (wholesale/retailers, e commerce, etc), Timbuk2 also had to
find a way to improve their mass customization processes and ... Show more content on

According to the case, the labor costs for mass customization is about 10% higher than labor costs for
large batches or traditional manufacturing. In order for mass customization to work, Timbuk2 will
need to determine how many color palettes, design patterns and the types of logos to offer their
customers. Overall their challenge for mass customization is to determine whether or not their
machines and workforce is capable of manufacturing the design the customer specified. Mass
customization and variety can also lead to higher potential for errors. Errors in manufacturing can lead
to higher labor cost; the time and money it would take to correct the order is a potential threat to their
profitability. One of the benefits of mass customization is that Timbuk2 will provide its customers
with perceived value added to their products. The customer can design his/her own bag according to
his/her preference, which adds the value of uniqueness to the product. Considering the mass
customization option, one needs to consider the inventory in stock. With customization, Timbuk2 s
manufacturing department can actually work with less finished good inventory, since the inventory is
sent off as soon as it s finished. They will have less finished goods inventory in stock, which will in
turn allow them to offer certain, stocked products at a reduced price. Due to its mass customization
practices already in place, it shows that if Timbuk2 were to offer

Forbidden Love In Romeo And Juliet
Romeo and Juliet My only love, sprung from my only hate, too early seen unknown, and known to
hate. (Act I, Scene VI, Lines 136 137) The classic tale of the tragic love story Romeo and Juliet has
been told time and time again to dozens of generations. This play tells the story of Romeo Montague
and Juliet Capulet and their forbidden love. The Montague s and Capulet s have been feuding for as
long as anyone in Verona can remember, but one night young Juliet met a masked stranger at a ball
and they fall in love. She ends up discovering this stranger is Romeo Montague and it is forbidden to
have any connection with one of the Montagues, let alone a relationship. Both her and Romeo decide
to keep their love a secret and continue to be together. This causes many problems in the story
including Lord Capulet threatening to disown Juliet if she continued to see Romeo and there being a
miscommunication where Romeo thought Juliet has died and commits suicide because he could never
live without her; where in fact she was under a sleeping potion so her family would think ... Show

If their parents or the townsfolk found out about a Capulet loving a Montague, havoc would rein. Both
of them would have most likely been disowned by their parents and banished from Verona. There was
also the possibility of violence breaking out between the two families if news of this relationship
surfaced. The play s use of secrecy is needed to help create and progress the story line. If Romeo or
Juliet would have either decided to tell their parents about their relationship sooner or would have
married other people; the story would have either been incredibly short or boring. The aspect of family
feuds, true love, and civil battles all help make the play more intriguing, enticing, and iconic. Their
choice of secrecy also shows how they truly loved one another and were willing to face challenges and
adversity for each

St Albans City Dc V International Computers Ltd
St Albans City and DC v International Computers Ltd [1996] 4 All ER 481 The case of St Albans City
DC v International Computers Ltd, which took place in the year 1996 at the court of appeal, concerned
the sale of computer software between a council body and a large software company. St Albans
District Council had the responsibility to collect a poll tax from its residents. The council hired,
International Computer Limited, via invitation to tender, to provide them with the software to
calculate the population required to pay the community charge. A software malfunction resulted in an
over calculation of the population by approximately 3000 people. Consequently the council lost
£484,000 (primary loss) in revenue, plus an additional £830,886 by way of interest and a further loss
of £685,000 (secondary loss). As a result of the loss, St Albans District Council sued International
Computers Limited for breach of contract. Ratio Decidendi St Albans district council were awarded
damages of £1,314,846, however, on appeal this was reduced to allow St Albans District Council to
only recover the secondary losses of £685,000 as well as £145,886 interest, this was due to the fact
that the primary loss of £484,000 had already been recovered from the poll tax payers in the
subsequent year. Obiter Dicta Lord Glidewell stated that he agreed with the decision made by Nourse

How Did Henry Ford Impact Society
Introducing the man who practically built America. Henry Ford was an automobile manufacturer who,
in 1903, established the Ford Motor Company. In 1908, he created the Ford Model T car in the shed
located behind his home. This car was the most popular car of all time due to its cheap prices
(compared to early automobiles) and it s constant availability (Ford Model T). Henry Ford
transformed the automobile from an invention to an innovation and it continues to affect our lives
today. When the Model T was introduced to the people of America, it revolutionized literature forever.
The idea of an affordable car for the everyday man captured the imagination of authors and
filmmakers. Throughout the 1920s, the Model T was featured in dozens of movies, television series,
and books. Even today, thousands of pieces are shown to have cars originate from this American
innovation. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a child, Ford was passionate about disassembling and then reassembling timepieces. In 1879, Ford
was an apprentice machinist, where he would operate and service several steam engines. Nine years
later, he became an engineer with the Edison Illuminating Company and finally had enough time and
money to experiment with gasoline engines. He invented the Ford Quadricycle, test drove it, and then
began improvements. These improvements led to the making of the Model T, introduced on October 1,
1908. The Model T was just a more basic version of what cars are driven today: steering wheel on the
left, enclosed engine and transmission, four cylinders cast in a solid block. All of this was just eight
hundred and twenty five dollars, which would be twenty two thousand, four hundred and seventy
dollars today. The price dropped every year, so the Model T soon became the best selling vehicle in

The Slaughter of Horses
Slaughtering horses for human consumption in the United States started in the early 1970 s.
Americans do not eat horsemeat; we consider horses to be favored animals, just like dogs and cats.
The idea of eating a horse, a cat, or a dog just goes against our very culture. It was foreign interests
that brought the horse slaughter industry to the United States and built equine slaughterhouses here.
By the 1990 s, there were at least sixteen equine slaughterhouses operating all across the United
States. At that time, most Americans did not even realize that such an industry even existed in their
country. Over the years, the industry grew larger and people began to use slaughter as an opportune
way to get rid of their undesired horses. Rather than take responsibility for their horses by either
taking the time to place them in a horse sanctuary or by paying a licensed veterinarian put them down
humanely, owners would ship them to a slaughter house and get paid for doing so. In today s United
States there is a debate ensuing on whether to lift the ban on equine slaughter which was enacted in
2007. There are practical as well as commercial arguments that can be made in favor of horse
slaughter, and there are ethical and environmental reasons to oppose it. In this paper I plan on
addressing both sides of the debate as well as explaining each sides main points. In 2007, the last
United States plant capable of equine slaughter was closed due to a district court ruling making it

You can keep a close watch on the assets you are thinking to invest as in how they are performing in
stock markets, their latest updates, and market trends. It will help you to decide when to buy in binary
option and earn profits.
Say for example, you would like to invest in stocks. Many companies like Google, Sony, Microsoft,
Samsung, Lenovo, Apple, etc plans to launch their new products once or twice a year. You can follow
them and observe the behaviour of their stock s performance in the market before and after the
performance of their mega events. This activity is time consuming and requires lots of grounding like
following news and events, but then you can win realistically around 70% to 80% with this strategy.
Once you have earned slight experience in binary option trading, you can start with short term trading.
For long term trading, news revolves around for several days or weeks, but for short term, news can t
help. Here, you can t rely on the news to get updates on asset prices and all because short term trading
is done in few minutes or some hours. As an alternative, you can read charts of various assets and their

Efficacy Of Monsanto s Ethical Culture

Question 1
Efficacy of Monsanto s Ethical Culture
Ethical issues remain relevant aspects for businesses operation and competitiveness. The elements
aforesaid ensure that every firm has what it takes to connect well with the community to provide
consistent market and productive relationship with other stakeholders. Monsanto Company that was in
a tussle with the community over the production of the genetically modified products that seemed
detrimental to the society responded by creating awareness to the people about the need for

The capability to withstand water shortages and the havoc caused by the harvest passes makes the
plants to mature early with its productivity level being high. Regions suffering from food shortages
can only undergo starvation for short period before it can start to enjoy the food. On the other hand,
the abovementioned advantages make farmers engage in profitable farming business with the low
level of costs of farm inputs and high outputs. This aspect benefits not only the farmers but also the
population that stands to enjoy a large variety of food stuff at their disposal.
However, the use of the GM seeds for food production can quickly render a harmful impact to the
user. Lee Burrell (2002) stated, Intense concerns about the uncertain health and environmental of GM
farming have been the subject of high profile debate. The effects of GM farming on existing forms of
agriculture, raised by the prospect of cross pollination by GM seed, provoke similarly polarized views
It is common that genetic engineering process often takes place by joining different genes of plants
together to come up with a whole species of the plant. Unfortunately, this process can easily result in
coming up with plants with genes that are harmful to the consumers. Most of the genetically modified

The Selling of Women in America Essay
The Selling of Women in America
Beautiful, skin tight clothing, thin, blonde, long hair, and big breasted women are what people
normally think of when they think of television commercials. This is very stereotypical but how
stereotypical is it? Look at the media anymore and this is what the audience sees. There may be a
change here and there with the hair color and how tight the clothing is but in all honestly this is what
the public is seeing on television screens if they sit there and watch the television screens. Our society
has brought about the sex appeal in women to sell their products. How true is all of this? From a series
of surveys, an interview, observation, and case study I have chosen to prove that a certain type of ...

commercials with women on them. If you were a girl, would you go grab a beer b/c a woman said to?
I think not! Amazingly so, when responding to the question of whether or not women are used
inappropriately in these commercials, five people said yes, three said no, and two said sometimes. A
male participant gave a response of women are used too often as a source of attention while men aren

there is a certain type of women used. The top three descriptions of her were big breasted, slim, and
attractive. Other answers were blonde, smiling, tall, curvy, long hair, and model like.
For Lindsay, sports aren t a big thing for her to watch. She d rather watch a sitcom, movie, reality

The Chaotic Reign of Akhenaten
Amenhotep III was a pharaoh of ancient Egypt from around 1388 BC till about 1350 BC. During his
rule of Egypt, was a period of unprecedented prosperity and artistic splendor (Wiki: Amenhotep III).
The art from this time showed several gods that ancient Egyptians worshiped, such as Amun, Anubis,
Aten, Ra, and many others. Most art was drawn in a way that most of the body parts were sized
according to standard proportions, yet the poses were so rigid that they seem to have little sense of
movement, if any at all. Many of these drawings were reliefs on walls and pottery. The art was known
for its boldness and controlled vitality. Most of the architecture and sculptures were made from heavy
materials, mostly stone, which helped to emphasize ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The temple appeared to not have a roof in order for the offering tables to be exposed to direct sunlight.
Smaller temples, such as the Rud menu, the Teni menu, and Hwt benben (Redford), were also
constructed as Aten temples.
These upcoming drastic changes have been thought to be either that Amenhotep has somehow lost his
sanity, that he found a new religious revelation, or for political reasons like the fact that pharaohs may
have been heading towards a direction where they would lose their powers over the people to the gods
or the cults following them. In Amenhotep IV s fifth year of his reign, He chose to change his name to
Akhenaten. This was due to the name Amenhotep is directed to the god Amun by meaning Amun is
satisfied and Akhenaten meaning Spirit of the Aten . At this time is when most of what we know as
Egypt had changed for a short period in history. Soon after his change of name he found a new city
called Akhentaten ( Horizon of Aten , known now as Amarna) and started the construction of his new
capital. By his seventh year he moved the capital to this new city in possible attempts of breaking
previous Egyptian religion which the old capital, Thebes, was heavily influenced with. By his ninth
year he created a new religion where there was no after life or other gods besides the sun god.
Egyptians were banned to worship any god

  • 2. Double Entry Bookkeeping Essay Double Entry Bookkeeping Question 1 a.The import by the US balance of payment will generate a debit transaction since it will lead to payment to UK firm. The payment itself will be entered as capital credit because it represents capital inflow to the US firm. The transaction will produce a debit entry on the double entry bookkeeping on the merchandise trade, and the same transaction will produce a credit entry on the capital account. This implies that the agreement by the United States firm to pay $500 in a period of three months creates a short term asset scenario rather than a long term one. This is of particular concern when considering sparse, rural networks, because what by urban standards is a minor degradation (i.e. car accident, resulting in queuing, delays and diversions) may have severe consequences if occurring in a rural setting (i.e. blocking the only access road for hours). In the most common manner of speaking, the reliability of a transportation network can be defined as the probability that one or more of its links functions, or rather: does not fail to function, according to a set standard of operating variables. A non functioning, or at best, badly functioning link will impose costs on the user in terms of loss of time, additional operation costs or other costs as a result of delays and diversions. In weak sustainability, Patterson states manufactured capital can substitute for losses in natural capital (p. 17), and also for that capital to be maintained from generation to generation so human society is economically sustainable (Patterson, M., 2002, p. 17). From the strong sustainability point of view this is negative. The perspective of strong sustainability is for natural capital to be maintained, because you can t produce manufactured capital without natural capital. Natural capital can perform many economic functions when it is maintained properly. Such as environmental eco systems that support human life and the co existence of other species. Through strong sustainability natural capital when maintained over numerous generations, allows everyone over time to have equal access. This is difficult to do, being able to maintain natural capital over multiple generations. It is much easier to maintain total capital and manufactured stock. • 24. An Evaluation Of The Nih Clinical Trial Registry Introduction The number of older individuals undergoing HSCT for malignant disease has risen considerably over the years. Between 2007 2013, 22% of allogeneic transplants and 44% of autologous transplants were in patients older than 60 years of age1. The rise of HSCT in this age group can be attributed to the use of reduced intensity conditioning (RIC) regimen and advances in post HSCT supportive care2,3. HSCT is a potential curative treatment for a number of malignant hematologic diseases such as myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS), leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma which tend to more commonly affect the elderly population. For instance, according to the SEER database, the median age of diagnosis of acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and MDS are 67 and 70 years respectively. Despite these findings, the number of patients over the age of 65 undergoing allogeneic HSCT remains low4. An evaluation of the NIH clinical trial registry revealed that 90% of HSCT clinical trials excluded older individuals ( 75 years), 75% based on chronologic age, 39% based on performance status in the elderly and 39% based on organ function in the elderly5. Inadequate accrual remains a problem even for trials that allow older patients, mostly due to physician reluctance, comorbidities and performance status6. Low rates of HSCT in the elderly and poor enrollment in HSCT clinical trials appear to be due to concerns regarding certain patient factors. Introduction Financing methods of enterprises are categorized into the indirect financing and direct financing depending on whether financial institutions such banks are involved in the financing process. The indirect financing means financing acquired from financial institutions based on policy funds of the government or funds formed by the financial institutions themselves. And the direct financing means capital raising through stocks or private bonds issued in the capital market. For the last several centuries, the financial markets have been dominated by the bank centric indirect financial market. Today, however, the center of the financial market is moving toward the direct financial market thanks to the development of the financial market. The capital market has become an essential element not only of financing in the private sector but also of national economic development, because the scope of financial transactions has expanded by a great deal by means of securities such as stocks and bonds. To look into the past stages of the Korean economic development, a bank centric financial system was maintained at the earlier stages while the banks played the role of a window for capital supply for the economic development. Later, beginning in the 1990s, the Korean capital market was opened in a phased manner in the trend of the global financial opening. • 27. Aristotle View On Friendship Friendship is an important asset in the world we live in, the young needs friendship to retain them from error, older people need it to care for them and those in their prime time need it, to do fine actions. No one would choose to live without friends because friendship is very important and it holds cities together. The philosopher, Aristotle quoted friendship has A single soul dwelling in two bodies. Aristotle takes the concept of friendship to a major level. His concept of friendship is assertive and comprehensive. Subsequently, Aristotle divided each concept into three sections or in other words three types of friendship. He first distinguishes and contrasts the three types of friendships. More importantly Aristotle takes into consideration that friendship is a necessity to live, however, it is not only necessary, but also fine. He also characterizes friendship as a virtue and as just. The three different types of friendship correspond to the three objects of love, which are, things that are useful (advantage friendship), things that are pleasant (pleasure friendship), and finally the third, things that are good (good friendship). Firstly, Aristotle observed advantage friendship as a type of friendship that the friend is not loved for his or her own sake, however, they are loved for the sake of some good obtained from the other. This friendship does not last according to Aristotle due to the purpose that once the benefit of the good in the friendship comes to an end, so does the friendship, in other words, their pleasure in each other no longer goes beyond their expectations of advantage. For each individual finds the other pleasant only to the point that each would expect some good for themselves. Individuals with these types of friendship, take satisfaction from each other s company just for their own sake. To elaborate a more practical name for this type of friendship would be an acquaintance. Hence such people do not find each other advantageous, therefore they have no need to meet. This type of friendship can be seen amongst older people, seeing that at that age they seek for what is advantageous. In brief, friendship of utility is often between opposite people, and is based on something that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Her keen insight has been shared through exploration of three scenarios where the stress gets high very easily. In each of these three examples the author lets the people in the conversation fail, this is a thought provoking technique that stimulates introspection. Holly is counting on the reader to remembers similar experiences that they may have gone through. The author is also provoking us to examine the large role our subconscious has in our actions when confronted with stressful conversations. The author provides help in solving these quarrelsome situations by describing the processes necessary for us to improve the stress of conversation unilaterally. Know Thyself Know yourself, this is a common theme in many articles on communication and it is a central point in this piece. Much of how emotions work into communication is unconscious, they seem to evolve without our own control. Just as we felt for the characters in the examples the author provided, in retrospect we can see our own missteps and may wish we could have handled it differently. Holly Weeks wants us to take a step back and observe that given one type of emotional situation we probably make the same type of mistakes every time. The author has a good word for it, tactics, though unlike the tactics deployed consciously when running a war or wining a race, these tactics are ones the subconscious uses to ... The Cultural Phenomenon Of Reality Television The cultural phenomenon Reality Television (TV) has become an increasingly popular genre of television since its paroxysm onto the airwaves in 1945. The primary objective of Reality TV is purely to entertain the audience. This genre of television is appealing to viewers due to its entertainment principle/value, the audience s competency to correlate to the characters and their situations, and the contingency it presents for escapism and voyeurism. He proclaimed and he defined that a woman s world should be limited to just her husband, her family, her children, and her home . The rights of German women were greatly repressed since Nazi ideology regarding gender was extremely traditionalist. As the testimonies of Holocaust survivors Sonia Berson, Vlakdka Meed, and Renee Firestone prove, through their resilience and resourcefulness, that Jewish women could prevent Hitler from ultimately attaining his Final Solution. While some Holocaust scholarship dismisses the importance of establishing a difference between female and male experiences during the Shoah, it is clear that experiences between men and women followed a very gendered divide. Although the final solution certainly called for the death of every woman, man and child defined as a Jew , it differed from any previous historical event in that it explicitly targeted women and children rather than treating them as civilian causalities. In fact, historians identify the Nazi brutality towards women and children as the ultimate symbol of barbarity. Although some historians argue that examining the Holocaust through a gendered lens desecrates the memory of the dead , it is important to remember the experiences that women had that were unique to their sexuality. By ignoring the intrinsically female experiences of the Holocaust, scholars are greatly doing a disservice to half of the Jewish population targeted during the Nazi genocide. Women posed a significantly more dangerous threat to the Nazis since they had the ability to propagate the Jewish race. From the onset of the Nazi regime, therefore, Jewish women ... The amount of sodium hydroxide is varied in this experiment while crystal violet is kept at a constant. The transmittance of crystal violet is observed and recorded using a colorimeter and the data obtained is used to plot graphs which are manipulated using LoggerPro software to produce the desired outcome; rate of reaction of crystal violet. It must be noted that only the absolute value of the slope matters in this situation. Third order reactions have somewhat a similar story except they require a plot of 1/concentration versus time to determine rate of reaction. When all three graphs are plotted, the graph with the line of best fit, or the one in which all point seem to be on a straight line is the correct one for the reaction. This is easily drawn using the LoggerPro software. When all three graphs are drawn, the graph with the best fit line and lowest root mean square error, or the lowest deviation from the best fit line, is the graph to be used to determine reaction kinematics. This knowledge is acquired from the equations of the integrated rate laws which are explained in the textbook. The solutions are mixed in small amounts in cuvettes and inserted into the colorimeter, which reads the percentage transmittance during the time period. The colorimeter has an enclosed space for the cuvette to be inserted making sure light from other sources does not interfere with the reaction, hence providing accurate results. The rate of the reaction is determined by using the equation: Rate= k [CV+] [OH ], where k is the rate constant for the reaction. Overall their challenge for mass customization is to determine whether or not their machines and workforce is capable of manufacturing the design the customer specified. • 46. The Slaughter of Horses Slaughtering horses for human consumption in the United States started in the early 1970 s. Americans do not eat horsemeat; we consider horses to be favored animals, just like dogs and cats. The idea of eating a horse, a cat, or a dog just goes against our very culture. It was foreign interests that brought the horse slaughter industry to the United States and built equine slaughterhouses here. By the 1990 s, there were at least sixteen equine slaughterhouses operating all across the United States. At that time, most Americans did not even realize that such an industry even existed in their country. Over the years, the industry grew larger and people began to use slaughter as an opportune way to get rid of their undesired horses. Rather than take responsibility for their horses by either taking the time to place them in a horse sanctuary or by paying a licensed veterinarian put them down humanely, owners would ship them to a slaughter house and get paid for doing so. In today s United States there is a debate ensuing on whether to lift the ban on equine slaughter which was enacted in 2007. There are practical as well as commercial arguments that can be made in favor of horse slaughter, and there are ethical and environmental reasons to oppose it. In this paper I plan on addressing both sides of the debate as well as explaining each sides main points. In 2007, the last United States plant capable of equine slaughter was closed due to a district court ruling making it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
