I. Statement of the Problem and its Background
Information Technology is the area of managing technology that spans a wide variety of areas that
include computer software, information systems, computer hardware, programming languages and
are not limited to things such as processes, and data constructs.
Anything that renders data, information or perceived knowledge in any visual format whatsoever,
via any multimedia distribution mechanism, is considered part of the IT domain. IT had already
crept in every nook and crannies of our lives, from e commerce up to mobile banking and social
networking sites and indeed information technology is an undisputable part of our social and
economical life today.

Differences Between Euthyphro And Socrates
Euthyphro by Plato introduces a dilemma that invites one to ask if what we do is just because
we say it is or is it just because the gods say so. This dialogue transpires between Euthyphro and
Socrates. Socrates was a student of all things in the sky and below the earth. As a student, a pupil
of all that there is to learn, one will ask questions. This is what Socratesdid. Euthyphrowas a
theologian that was acquainted with Socrates through means unknown. Although he was familiar
with Socrates s method of communicating with others, Euthyphro did not seem to mind Socrates s
questioning until he, himself, was questioned. The two meet at the courthouse, awaiting separate
trials. Euthyphro was prosecuting his father for murder, and Socrates... Show more content on

It also makes me wonder if the meaning of piety and impiety would have been questioned if this
conversation did not occur. Throughout the reading, I found myself unable to define my own
opinion of the meaning of piety and impiety, as this was not something that I considered before.
Piety can hardly be seen as a bad thing, but is it only considered good because people consider it
to be good, or is it good because the gods esteem it to be so? Euthyphro grapples with this idea, but
ultimately falls short of a definite solution to the question at

Comparison of Whitman and Dickenson Poems
America experienced profound changes during the mid 1800 s. New technologies and ideas helped
the nation grow, while the Civil War ripped the nation apart. During this tumultuous period, two
great American writers captured their ideas in poetry. Their poems give us insight into the time
period, as well as universal insight about life. Although polar opposites in personality, Emily
Dickinson and Walt Whitman created similar poetry. Dickinson s Hope is a Thing with Feathers and
Whitman s O Captain! My Captain! share many qualities.

Captain! My Captain! Each poem contains an extended metaphor. In Dickinson s poem, a bird
clearly symbolizes hope. The first stanza introduces the bird metaphor: В‘Hope is the thing with
feathers /That perches in the soul. The next lines В‘And sings the tune without the words /And
never stopsВ—at allВ— illustrate the interminable nature of the bird and hope. The second stanza
expands the metaphor by saying В‘And sweetestВ—in the GaleВ—is heardВ—. The bird s song, or
hope, is the sweetest during a Gale, or troubled times. The first lines in the final stanza В‘I ve
heard it in the chillest land / And on the strangest Sea describe the bird, or hope, as being
everywhere. The last lines В‘Yet, never, in Extremity,/It asked a crumbВ
—of Me show the
unselfish nature of the bird; hope never asks for anything in return. O Captain! My Captain!
contains a more complicated and cryptic extended metaphor. Basically, Abraham Lincoln captains
the metaphorical ship of the United States through the Civil War. The second line В‘The ship has
weather d every rack, the prize we sought is won means the United States survived the tribulation of
the Civil War, and the citizens won the prize they sought, unity. Abraham Lincoln

A Research Study On Regenerative Medicine And Transplantation
Regenerative medicine and transplantation is the recent advancement in the field of scientific
medical research embarking on the evolvement of embryonic stem cells(ESCs)and
reprogrammed human somatic cells called induced pleuri potent stem cells(iPSCs) .Human
embryonic stem cells were first derived in 1998 by Thomson et al. and induced pleuri potent
stem cells(iPSCs) in 2007(Thai Journal of Obstetrics and GynaecologyApril 2013) The innate
proficiency of the human embryonic stem cells to differentiate into multiple cell lineages i.e
pluripotency and worthy of self renewal score them as invaluable sources in therapeutic and
diagnostic field. However, there are some impediments seen in the generation and utilisation of
these ESCs as some countries believe that isolation of ESCS from embryos is detrimental to the
embryos and as they are not patient specific , auto rejection is observed in some cases. (Thai
Journal of Obstetrics and GynaecologyApril 2013) To overcome this, scientists have identified
iPSCs by reprogramming of certain somatic cells. Vivid progression in the remedy of infertility
will be possible with the transformation of germ cells from stem cells. The mechanism of
differentiation of ES cells in vitro and in vivo are not well inferred due to limited number of
oocytes available through donation programmes. Functional or mature gametes have fail to develop
in vitro as germ cells do not develop beyond the earliest stage, persistently generating low number

Value Sensitive Design
In Value Sensitive Design and Nanotechnology by Ronald Sandler, Sandler explains the process
engineers must consider while they design a technology.
Sandler introduces technology and its relationship with society. He points out that some
technologies are welcomed by society and may solve world issues while others are resisted by
society because they may cause problems.
Sandler then observes the dependency humans have on technology. He talks about how important
technology is to the survival human race, but also how many current social interactions now
happen through technology.
He then briefly mentions the theme of the article when he writes about deciding if a technology is
ethical or not. Sandler states that if there were more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He states that the vast majority of people choose projects that will have a positive outcome,
however, it may not always be the best project. Sandler s example of this is cancer research as
opposed malaria treatment, which is more prevalent in third world countries, while neither project
has a negative outcome.
His second idea of value sensitive design is listed as defining success and how technology can
have different types of success. Sandler says that definition of success must be defined clearly
first off. The example that Sandler uses is the One Laptop Per Child initiative, which was to get
underprivileged kids a laptop for less than $100. Although the original program failed, it lead to
the $75 One Tablet per Child program, so it may be considered a success.
Sandler s third concept of value sensitive design is means and byproducts, which delves into how
many technologies have unintended byproducts, and how the ends don t always justify the
means. One tool that he explains is the Life Cycle Assessment, which tracks a technology through
its life to observe the pros and cons it will have on society. Sandler then explores how
nanotechnology may seem ideal at first glance, but leaves a lot of room for privacy issues. He
thinks that by having social scientists work with engineers, many issues will be

1. The client acceptance process can be quite complex. Discuss five procedures an auditor should
perform in determining whether to accept a client. Which of these five are required by auditing
standards and identify the applicable standards?
1. Obtain an understanding of the client s business and operations. Consideration should be given
to reading available financial information regarding the prospective client such as annual reports,
registration statements, Forms 10 K, other reports to regulatory agencies and income tax returns.
2. Inquire as to the general reputation of high ranking employees, influential directors and
shareholders, as well as the entity itself. Carefully consider any matters that may negatively reflect

In order to minimize the likelihood of association with a client whose management lacks integrity,
Statement on Quality Control Standards No. 2, System of Quality Control for a CPA Firm s
Accounting and Auditing Practice, (QC Section 20.14) (applicable to auditing and accounting and
review services) provides that policies and procedures should be established for deciding whether
to accept or continue a client relationship and to perform a specific engagement for that client (QC
Section 20.14) , to minimize the likelihood of the specific policies and procedures established and
the nature and extent to which they may be documented may vary significantly from firm to firm.
Throughout the process, from initial consideration about accepting or continuing a client to
issuance of an audit report, auditors are faced with risk. This risk can be thought of as having three
components:
В• The entity s business risk The risk that the entity will not survive or will not be profitable.
В• The auditor s business risk The risk to the auditor from association with the client, consisting of
the risk of potential litigation costs and the related effect on the auditor s reputation and the risk of
other costs (not related to litigation) such as the effects on fee realization.
В• The auditor s audit risk The risk that the auditor may unknowingly fail to appropriately modify

Bob Dylan And The American Civil Rights And Anti War...
Bob Dylan (/Л€dЙ
ЄlЙ™n/; born Robert Allen Zimmerman, May 24, 1941) is an American
singer songwriter, artist and writer. He has been influential in popular music and culture for more
than five decades. Much of his most celebrated work dates from the 1960s when his songs
chronicled social unrest, although Dylan repudiated suggestions from journalists that he was a
spokesman for his generation. Nevertheless, early songs such as Blowin in the Wind and The
Times They Are a Changin became anthems for the American civil rights and anti war
movements. After he left his initial base in the American folk music revival, his six minute single
Like a Rolling Stone altered the range of popular music in 1965. His mid 1960s recordings,
backed by rock musicians, reached the top end of the United States music charts while also
attracting denunciation and criticism from others in the folk movement. Dylan s lyrics have
incorporated various political, social, philosophical, and literary influences. They defied existing
pop music conventions and appealed to the burgeoning counterculture. Initially inspired by the
performances of Little Richard, and the songwriting of Woody Guthrie, Robert Johnson, and Hank
Williams, Dylan has amplified and personalized musical genres. His recording career, spanning 50
years, has explored the traditions in American song from folk, blues, and country to gospel, rock
and roll, and rockabilly to English, Scottish, and Irish folk music, embracing even jazz

The Greatest Asset When Conducting The Operations Process
Commanders are the greatest asset when conducting the operations process. Commanders drive the
operations process through understanding, visualizing, describing, directing, leading, and assessing
operations. During the operations process, the staff conducts essential functions that support the
effectiveness of operations and contribute to the overall successfulness of mission accomplishment.
Accurate and timely running estimates are vital knowledge management tools that assist
commanders in driving the operations process. Lieutenant General (LTG) Richard F. Natonski,
United States Marine Corps, commanded the 1st Marine Division during the Second Battle of
Fallujah, also referred to as Operation Phantom Fury. As a Major General (MG), Richard Natonski
led the 1st Marine Division, ground combat forces of the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force (MEF),
and several United States Army forces during a joint forces attack on Fallujah, Iraq with American,
Iraqi, and British armed forces. During the course of this 4 day attack on Fallujah, MG Natonski
incorporated many of the commander roles when conducting the operations process for this
mission. MG Natonski became the commander of the 1sst Marine Division in August 2004, shortly
after the 82nd Airborne Division completed their mission in Fallujah. After assessing the current
situation and strategically studying the lessons learned from the previous attack in Fallujah, Iraq,
MG Natonski requested combat power from 2nd

Essay on Belonging, Romulus My Father
An individual s interaction with others and the world around them can enrich or limit their
experience of belonging. This statement can be readily depicted through various texts which
include Raimond Gaita s memoir, Romulus My Father and Universal Studio s 2004 film, Hating
Alison Ashley. Both of these texts involve various techniques that assist in portraying the concept
of belonging to both an environment and to relationships. Belonging is a concept that is more
complex than it first appears. It may be experienced on many levels between belonging and not
belonging, be it to a family, a friendship, a place or a surrounding environment. It is a perception that
is shaped within personal, cultural, historical and social contexts. Belonging... Show more content

This influences him to interact more with his surrounds which further enriches his belonging to the
Australian landscape.
The film Hating Alison Ashley from Universal Studios, also reveals how an individual s
interaction with others and the world around them can enrich or limit their experience of belonging
to an environment. The two protagonists both find themselves at odds with the environment
throughout different stages in the film. Erika Yuken is competent in her own way but out of place
within her community and school environment. However, it appears to be a matter of perception,
Erika believes that she is better than or different from what she actually is. This attribute makes
her think that she is above everyone and ultimately creates barriers between her interacting with
her peers and in turn belonging to her school environment. Erika and Alison both feel insecure
and awkward in their school environment, but for varying reasons. Erika assumes she doesn t
belong and that she should be someone else. Life can be lonely when you re exceptional. This
reflective statement reveals that she thinks herself to be better than others and also highlights the
isolation she feels because of this perception. At the beginning of the film a montage of photos of
beautiful people, houses and wealth are shown in conjunction with a voice over, spoken by Erika.
There were very few perfect places to grow up in, where

Thomas Jefferson s Relationship With The Barbary Pirates...
If a nation expects to be ignorant and free, in a state of civilization, it expects what never was and
never will be. These words from Thomas Jefferson provide insight into a man who was a
complicated, dynamic character in the founding of the young United States. Every president has a
moment or event that defines his path in history. Though it was a test for him and his
administration, the Barbary Wars proved Thomas Jeffersonto be a strong president in his handling of
foreign affairs.
The meaning for the name Barbary is a region in between the sixteenth century until the nineteenth
century, which was a group of countries from Northern Africa. The Barbary pirates were from
North Africa and were controlled by the Ottoman Turks. According... Show more content on

The relationship with the Barbary Pirates begins on September, 1780. The Committee for Foreign
Affairs received a letter from the Emperor of Morocco formally recognizing their new
independence and proposing that the two states negotiate a peace treaty and trade agreement.
However the colonies were in the midst of the Revolutionary War and for several years the United
States did not address the Emperor s request. Frustrated by the United States, Emperor Muhammad
ordered his corsairs to capture an American ship in order to force the Americans to negotiating.
When the Revolutionary War ended in 1783, the French left the U.S. merchant fleet on its own
making Americans easy prey for pirates in the Mediterranean. Attacks on merchant vessels raised
concern about what to do to protect maritime commerce. Jefferson, a diplomat at this time, and later
a Secretary of State and Vice President, advocated for the use of military force against the Barbary
States and their privateers. The United States was attacking because they were irritated in paying
the ransom for their sailors; they thought that the ocean should be free that no one should control the

Myth of Courage Exposed in The Things They Carried Essay
Ah for a young man all looks fine and noble if he goes down in war, hacked to pieces under a
slashing bronze blade he lies there dead. . .but whatever death lays bare all wounds are marks of
glory. (Homer 22.83 87)
As students we are brainwashed by ancient myths such as The Iliad, where war is extolled and the
valorous warrior praised. Yet, modern novels such as Tim O Brien s The Things They Carried
(THINGS) challenge those very notions. Like The Iliad, THINGS is about war. It is about battles
and soldiers, victory and survival, yet the message O Brien gives us in THINGS runs almost
contradictory to the traditional war story. Whereas traditional stories of war take place on
battlefields where soldier battles soldier and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What the reader experiences while reading the novel, is entirely different from what he expects
from a typical war story. Absolutes must be absent from the text, if O Brien is to illustrate how any
of our mythologies, including courage, frequently fail to meet up to actual experience.
As many have noted, O Brien ingeniously facilitates a mood of incongruity, or disconnection,
between fiction and fact in The Things They Carried through sheer structure. By blurring lines
between fantasy and reality, THINGS truly becomes a contradiction of itself. As Catherine
Calloway notes, one of the ways in which O Brien achieves this blurring of lines, is to model the
narrator of THINGS after himself, a drafted Vietnam war veteran, a Harvard graduate, and a
writer with the same name of Tim O Brien (para. 3). O Brien is aware that the practiced reader
knows not to confuse the narrator with the author, and yet the reader is encouraged to do just that.
The purpose, of course, is to keep the reader as unbalanced, as unsure, of what we are told to be
truths, as is the Vietnam soldier.
Another way in which O Brien blurs fiction and fact is through his narrator s (heretofore referred
to as Tim), constant and contradictory claims as to the veracity of his stories. One moment Tim
swears that a story is true, such as in the chapter The Man I Killed, when he speaks so realistically
and in such detail, about killing an enemy soldier (THINGS 141), but

Business Overview Of Shani A Franchise Or Open An...
Business Type
Depending on her level of comfort and desire of business freedom, Shania can pursue a franchise or
open an independent coffeehouse. One business brings market ready supplies and the other requires
greater diligence in planning and management.
Opening a franchise brings a brand name and materials to a business to produce instant recognition
and bring in brand loyal consumers. A franchise creates a business relationship with a franchisor to
bring a brand name, trade dress, and trademark to a franchisee (Kubasek et al., 2015, p. 431). In
turn for the franchise material and name, the franchisee pays a percentage of sales to the franchisor
(Kubasek et al., 2015, p. 431). As reported in 2011, franchisingwas so popular that it was the
genesis of one of every 12 retail businesses in the United States (Welsh, Desplaces, Davis, 2011,
p. 4). A weakness of owning a franchise was reported by Perrigot, Hussain, and Windsperger
(2015) where franchisees have to strictly follow operating manuals and almost all of the strategic
decisions are made at the franchisor level (p. 696). Although it does have a curtailed degree of
freedom, a franchise brings greater stability with a proven business style and support system.
On the contrary, an independent operation is different in that there are no trade materials or
products; however, there is greater freedom to operate (Perrigot, Hussain, Windsperger, 2015, pp.
700 701). Additionally, independent operators can better

Pressure Ulcer Essay
Pressure Ulcers Causing Pain in Hospitalized Patients
With pressure ulcers affecting 1 to 3 million people in the Untied States each year, pressure
ulcers can reduce overall quality of life because of the pain, the treatment, and the increased
length stay within a healthcare facility (Berlowitz et al., 2014). It is estimated that 60,000
patients will die each year as a direct result to pressure ulcers (Berlowitz et al., 2014). The cost is
between 9.2 billion, to 15.6 billion per year in the Untied States (Berlowitz et al., 2014). It is also
stated that pressure ulcers may be associated with sever pain (Berlowitz et al., 2014). So, are

strength within the study was the authors decision to use the 1998 European Pressure Ulcer

In terms of business, advertising is a type of marketing communication that is used to encourage,

Problems Revealed In Shakespeare s Romeo And Juliet
Romeo and Juliet is a famous play. which deals with tragic love between two supposed enemies.
William Shakespeare, the author of the play is universally known as a magnificent poet who wrote
numerous famous poems, comedies, histories, and tragedies. Shakespeare crafted a tragic love
story with problems between parents and children, negative effects of long standing quarrels, and
fate, luck, and coincidence as central themes. Without these themes, Romeo and Juliet would not be
the catastrophic love story that is so well known and appreciated today. Firstly, Shakespeare wrote
Romeo and Juliet with the theme of problems among parents and children. One problem that was

The star crossed lovers meet because of fate. What are the chances of two sworn enemies
meeting let alone falling in love? The stars led Romeo and Juliet together. The servant can not

is out of Romeo and Juliet s control that they met; it was fate. Shakespeare also explores the idea
of fate in his play by letting the audience know certain things about his characters. In the
prologue of the play, Shakespeare tells the audience what is going to happen to the Romeo and
Juliet: from forth the fatal loins of these two foes, A pair of star cross d lovers take their life;
(prologue 5 6). This introduces the idea of fate into the play and prepares the audience for what
is to come The idea that the lovers will take a different path is suggested throughout the play.
Coincidence is also a theme written throughout Romeo and Juliet. For example, it is a
coincidence Paris is at Capulet s tomb the same time Romeo is. It is late at night and Paris had
already gone to Juliet s service. It is a coincidence Paris is there at the tomb that ultimately got him
killed. Shakespeare s tragic play made great use of fate, luck, and coincidence, especially at crucial

The Importance Of Media
It has taken a long time to get to where society is now in 2017, and now more than ever media
plays a big role in everyone s lives. With the invention of the computers came numerous other
inventions, such as the Internet and smartphones. An example of the big role computers, the
Internet and smartphones play in society is given by Baran in page 30 where he says the average
American child between the ages 8 and 18 spends more than seven hours a day engaged
simultaneously with many different screens. I understand that in order to invent the computerthere
other creations that allowed the computer to become what it is now, but putting that aside I
consider computers to be the most important technological breakthrough. The World Wide Web,
smartphones and gaming consoles, would not have come into existence without computers. Other
media sources such as Cable television, CD s, and newspapers, have began to decline in terms of
audience mostly due to the upsurge of the computer related media, Baran talks about the industries
in transition and mentions how newspapers have lost 26 billion dollars in the past 10 years, he
also talks about the decline in CD sales by 13% in between 2013 and 2014 (30) The three most
important breakthroughs from the Media History Timeline are print, mailand computers. The first

Literary Analysis Of A Streetcar Named Desire By Tennessee...
Tennessee Williams was an American writer known for short stories and poems in the mid 1950
s. His more famous writing was A Streetcar Named Desire. His writings influenced many other
writers such as August Strindberg and Hart Crane. His writings A Streetcar Named Desire and The
Glass Menagerie was adopted to films and A Streetcar Named Desireearned him his first Pulitzer
prize. In A Streetcar Named Desire there is many elements that build the plot and story line. The
story is about a girl who is drove crazy by his sister s husband and eventually sent to the mental
hospital. The main plot is towards the end of the story when Blanche Duboisis blackmailed by her
sister s husband and raped by him. Everything takes its toll on her until she begins drinking heavily
and is thought to have gone crazy and placed in a mental hospital. In this story, many things play

husbands attitude, the poker game, Blanche getting raped. These events make Blanche an easy
victim. In Tennessee Williams, a street car named desire, the start of kindness turns to tragedy and
pain.
The darkness all begins when Blanche arrives at Stella s apartment after her family home was
lost. Stanley initially doesn t trust Blanche and thinks she swindled Stella out of her share of the
family home to pay off her own debts. The two are sisters and immediately Blanche begins to
criticize their apartment because of coming from a high class place. This immediately bothers
Stanley and he becomes agitated with Blanche since they have taken her in and let her stay in
their home. This adds issue between the characters right away because of both of their
backgrounds. Blanche come from money and Tennessee Williams quotes Her appearance is

The Consequences Of Drug Use In Go Ask Alice
Imagine reading a book with a great amount of explicit content and an uncanny, mature plot. Go
Ask Alice is a novel published in 1971 about a teenager who experiences drug abuse and later
dies due to an overdose. Due to the obscene use of profanity and drugs, as well as sexual content,
the novel has been banned from libraries and schools across the country. The leading reason for
banning is because it is believed to promote and encourage drug use. However, this narrative does
not tell kids that drugs are cool and encourage them to use, but teaches children the consequences
that come with the use of drugs. Although the book was banned all over the country, there was
significant opposition in Rhode Island and South Carolina. In Tiverton,

Walt Disney s Core Competency
Walt Disney
The Walt Disney is a world leading company for the entertainment of all especially families; it is
also a media enterprise with different business segments. The main five business segments are
studio entertainment, parks and resorts, media networks, consumer products and interactive media.
Walt Disney s original main competence was only animated movies and cartoons. By combining
Imagineering with engineering Disney s company reached supreme success with the formation
of the first full length animated movie. This success led to new dreams and ideas, one of them
was to open a park, a different kind of park. In Disneyland Walt used new technology to bring his
characters to life. He called them Animatronics . (Magical Kingdoms, July 2008). With inimitable
storytelling and high excellence of service Walt Disney created a magical setting for his guests
which none of the competitors could quite duplicate. This then became as said Walt Disney s core
competency. The park has a lot of good reasons behind it s everlasting success one of them reason
being that they have such a good team working behind closed doors to name at least two there s the
human resources team and technology team. The human resources team at Walt Disney partner

Sherman Alexie Indian Discrimination
One should get to know a person before judging them because impressions are not always
accurate. In the novel, The Absolutely True Diary of a Part Time Indian, Junior experiences
racism on the Spokane Indian reservation and at Reardan, where Junior attends school. Racial
discrimination makes the Indians on the reservation lose their sense of self worth and they feel as
if they deserve to be treated this way. At Reardan, Junior is in an atmosphere where his white
classmates and teachers make racist jokes and nicknames targeting him. In the novel, The
Absolutely True Diary of a Part Time Indian, Sherman Alexie explains how prejudice and
discriminatory behaviour endorses negative relationships between people. This can be observed

Going into Reardan as an Indian, people thought of Junior differently and therefore treated him
differently. He is viewed differently because people believe that the whites are better and
wealthier than the Indians. Junior explains to his friend Gordy that ...some Indians think you
have to act white to make your life better. Some Indians think that you become white if you try to
make your life better, if you become successful (Alexie 132). Junior may be Indian physically,
but that does not mean that he does not have the same traits and should not be treated different
than any other white person at Reardan. Additionally, Junior s classmates started of thinking of
Junior as a weak individual because of his skin colour. Junior s classmates think it is alright to
call Junior names because of his physical appearance but weak and poor and scared, [Junior] let
them call [Junior] names while [Junior] figured out what to do..So [Junior] punched Roger in the

clearly proves how his physical appearance does not define his strength or power. Junior should be

Oppression In Native American Culture
Native Americans, the true founders of America, are best known for having a tight grip on
tradition throughout the years. Tradition is a way that Native Americans have been able to coexist
for so long, and is also a way that natives have found stability from tribe to tribe. As Native
Americans graciously welcomed colonists into the new world years ago, they did not receive equal
respect in return. The colonists invading America gave natives a harsh ultimatum, to either leave
America, or conform to the new society that would soon destroy the teepees and farmlands the
natives considered home. The oppression from the colonists, gave natives the incentive that being
any race other than white was not something to be proud of. Through the use of narrativewriting
done by Native Americans, readers are given an opportunity to see history through the lens of the
oppressed. This further gives an opportunity for readers understand the very situation that many
people who may even look like them once had to deal with. This allows us to not only draw
specific conclusions about this period of oppression, but it displays how easy it can be for people
to fall into very specific standards, and conform to societies that do not protect their values, and
lives.
Growing up, children are regularly told to be themselves, because everyone else is taken. This
advice, however, is quite controversial. I hated Tonto Still Do, written by Sherman Alexie, expresses

A Byronic Hero Of Our Time By Mikhail Lermontov
Pechorin A Byronic Hero
A Hero of Our Time, written by Mikhail Lermontov, consists of 5 stories that reflect the life, the
idea and the personality of the main character named Pechorin. Pechorin is not a typical hero in
romantic literature perspective; instead, he is a great representation of a pathetic Byronic hero that
more commonly appears in the time of Lermontov.
Different from a traditional hero and as a typical Byronic hero, Pechorin is reflected to be self
centered and manipulative in many parts of the story. His selfishness is shown through his
indifference to others and through the despicable methods of getting the things he wants.
Pechorin is sexually appealing, and could won the love of many beauties easily. However, he
never really cherished his charming and tried to manipulate the girls in the way he wants. When
he flirts with a girl, mostly it is because he is temporarily enjoying their beauty and the pleasure
he can get from them. When he really falls in love with them, he still only knows to receiving the
love from them and never really dedicates anything for his loves. When he fell in love with Bela,
he got her through a despicable trade of the horse of Kazbich with Bela s brother. This trade
made Bela lost her brother and father and deprived her happiness for a long time. However,
because of Pechorin s self serving and manipulative personality, he failed to consider the
consequence for his love and only enjoyed the feeling of controlling others when he

Taking a Look at Harriet Tubman

Harriet Tubman Harriet not only had dream but she was determined to stand up for what she had

help others get out of that life just as she did, and that s what I am going to be telling you today.
At first, In my research I couldn t find any evidence on which exact day harriet was born but i

animals. He had to work the lines while she was ill with the measles, and catching cold from
wading in the water in the condition, she grew very sick. I had reasoned this out in my mind;
there was one of two things I had a right to, liberty, or death; if I could not have one, I would have
the other; for no man should take me alive; I should fight for my liberty as long as my strength
lasted, and when the time came for me to go, the Lord would let them take me. Harriet Tubman

Although the proposal has been accepted, there are still many reasons why the tuna cage is terrible

Oceanic Victor claim that the tuna cage will not attract any more sharksthan usual, which is odd to
say as in other circumstances in tuna pens shark wranglers have been hired to cut free sharks that
have been stuck in the nets.[4] Tuna cages attract sharks, which are drawn to fish which sometimes
die in the pens and settle in the bottoms of the floating nets. Inquisitive sharks may bite holes in
nets and enter the cages or become entangled in the nets and subsequently become distressed or
drown. In response, employees of tuna ranching operations will either enter the water and attempt
to wrestle the sharks out of the pens, or kill the shark. Species known to interact with southern
bluefin tuna operations include hammerhead sharks, bronze whalers and great white sharks. The
latter species is protected under federal Australian legislation while the former two are not. Some of
these interactions are shown in the documentary film, Tuna Wranglers (2007). [3]
It will Interfere with whale calving. Possibly Victor Harbors most popular attraction, whale season
is a wonderful time of the year. The most common whales spotted around here are southern right
whales who prefer sandy sheltered bays like encounter bay and granite island. There is a chance
that whales could get entangled in Oceanic Victor s pontoons, moorings and nettings. [2 ,Pge

Abstract On Selection Performance
section{Selection Performance} All the selection steps have been designed using MC simulation,
and show a good agreement with the data. Additionally, the selection efficiency and purity as a
function of each step are shown schematically in~cref{fig:EvtSel_SelEffPur}. The BDT cut
massively enhanced the purity of the positron selection as shown
in~cref{fig:EvtSel_EffPurParticleNue}. Although the veto cuts reduced the positrons efficiency

removing the positrons coming from the gammas as shown

Oil has been used by domestic and foreign governments in the development of the Middle East
both domestically and in foreign policy since 1940 by using it as a bartering item because it is
such a valid and precious resource that can fuel homes, towns, and countries. The Middle East has
had many ups and downs throughout its development as a country, but its abundant supply of oil
made it a country that outsiders wanted to either friend or control. The D Arcy Concession in the

There was no competition to lower their asking price. Soon to follow in the mid 1970 s, was an oil
embargo. This embargo presented the first oil shock. Immediately OAPEC proclaimed the embargo.
Anwar el Sadat, the third president of Egypt played a role during this time. He reigned from 1970
until the early 1980 s. As a member of the free officers who overthrew King Farouk in an
Egyptian revolution during the 1950 s, Anwar el Sadat reinstituted a multiparty system creating a
domino effect leading to the October war. All Palestinian efforts were abandoned, and he was
opposed by PLO and the Muslim Brotherhood. This alienation also included him getting kicked
out of the Arab league which was in the early 1980 s. This then resulted in the United States
involvement in the October War. As retaliation to the OAPEC the United Stated decided to supply
those affected unjustly by this embargo with arms. The October War is also known as the Yom
Kippur war. The countries mainly involved at this time were Israel, Egypt and Syria, and Egypt
had an additional end goal to claim the Sinai Peninsula.
Though there were multiple conflicts in the fight to gain power of the oil in the Middle East this
helped to strengthen the Middle East. It turned their country from being seen as a stereotypical
dried up desert to being seen as a rich and prosperous advantage to those in alliance with it. Oil
provided the Middle East to have a voice in trading systems. Everyone needed oil

The Protestant Reform Movements On The European Continent...
Following the Evangelical reform movements on the European continent against the Roman
Catholic Church, England also experienced its own reform movements and reformists. During the
fifteenth century and the early sixteenth century, the English monarchy was Catholic, and thus
opposed to reform, prosecuting evangelicals as heretics. In the first half of the reign of Henry VIII,
the second Tudor monarch, this pattern continued under the administration of Cardinal Thomas
Wolsey as Lord Chancellor, and later with Sir Thomas Morein that same office (Marshall 31).

Ephedrine and It s Effect on Weight Loss

Nevertheless, it can affect every aspect of our lives, driving many even to suicide. Few, if any, are

One method being cowrie shells (Mason, 18). The meticulous and strategically thrown cowrie

communicate, the orichas use cowrie shells to share a message to us humans.
Switching over to Regla de Palo, we see that this relationship seems a lot more strained and
possessive than one of Regla de Ocha. A major reason why many Cuban officials (and many
laypeople) choose to not outwardly partake in this religion is because of its known ability to
backfire on those who are followers, since they generally use the spirits for personal gain. A
relationship with a spirit in Rela de Ocha is similar to one of great abuse if we were to humanize
the two parties. The spirit or muerto is trapped in either a bottle or nganga and works for the
person who wields the object of entrapment. The main way a palero (priest) of Regla de Ocha
establishes a relationship with a spirit is through the collection of the bones of a passed
priestess or priest. The process of obtaining bones from a person not directly related to you is
illegal in Cuba; however, exhumed skeletons which are claimed in time are generally sold to
paleros in search of new muertos to help them prosper. Since these disturbed spirits do work on be

Why Dogs Are Expensive Pets
One could say having a dog is easy, but that s correct think about food, the vet, toys, ruined
furniture, training classes and crates. Dogs are expensive pets because of the food, the vet, and
containment. Dog food is expensive because it s sold in big bags, wet food and dry food.
The factory that makes dog food fills the bag up. Then the factory price it by how much it weighs.
It costs $2 to 3$ per pound and raw pet food cost $12 per pound. Raw dog food is expensive
because it is considered natural and fresh from nature. Wet food It is easier to give to puppies
because it s soft and not processed to hard, dry food. Dry food doesn t cost as much as raw food
because it doesn t have as much protein as the dry food when it is heated most of protein comes
off. The dry food scapes the dog s teeth and builds up plaque. Wet food cleans the teeth and
prevents plaque from building up. natural pet food, that jumps to $2.64. Organic pet food was
up at $3.66 a pound, and raw food beat them all at $12.08 per pound. Deena Shanker is a food and

The vet is crazy in cost, x rays, medication and procedures.A total cost of all of them added

a look to see how one s pet is doing. Vets sometimes do extra check ups to make the bill even
more expensive. The bills that come back are usually very high in price because emergency trips,

The Black Cat Syllabus
What is one thing on the syllabus you had never read before that you re glad you had the chance
to read? In school you are exposed to a lot of Edgar Allen Poe stories. With such a great
assortment of choices I was surprised that I did not read The Black Cat prior to this class. I
enjoyed the story immensely. The portrayal of an alcoholic s decline turning into a deranged
person was powerful. The way the animals are talked about in the story makes the almost life like.
I like the comparison of Pluto s hanging to the family house being burned down on the same night.
The explanation and cover up of the large giant catwith a rope on its neck was interesting but the

I do not discount that reading as it clearly depicts slavery and racism. But, I think to Kill a
Mockingbird would have been an excellent choice to follow that reading assignment. I love the
quote You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view...
Until you climb inside of his skin and walk around in it. I think this quote still holds true today.
We all remember that in the book To Kill a Mockingbird is about a young girl who is growing
up. She has the typical life of playing, having fun, and creating friendships with people. But what
is most impactful was her introduction and having to learn about things such as life s
unfairness, weak people, and people with a different skin color. To Kill a Mockingbird is the
perfect example of racism and gender inequality. The reoccurring theme of racism depicts just
how much of an impact racism has on the daily life of individuals. The lesson we learned is that
people can have kindness, sympathy and support it does not depend on your color of skin, your
social status, or public opinion. It all depends on a man s soul. I think everyone can use or hear
this message no matter how old in life they

Chiquita In Colombia Case Summary
Case Study:
Chiquita in Colombia: Funding Paramilitary Groups to Protect Business and Employees
Presented by: Valerie Reese
Case Summary:
United Fruit Company, a company that grows bananas in Central America and exports them to
North America and Europe, became Chiquita Brands International in 1984 through a series of
mergers and control changes (Maurer, 2012, p. 485). Chiquita Brands relocated its headquarters to
Cincinnati, Ohio, and began to expand its holdings in land and shipping (Maurer, 2012, p. 485).
Chiquita Banadex planation, located in Colombia, seemed to operate as a model facility by

The company could have closed down and sold its banana plantation in Colombia, but Chiquita let
the atrocities continue for years. Perhaps Chiquita was following the analytical framework of
utilitarianism. Chiquita may have thought that making these payments to paramilitary groups was
protecting more workers than it was harming; therefore, it was the right thing to do.
Knowing that paramilitary groups had murdered Chiquita workers, one would assume continuing to
make payments to these groups would be wrong. When Chiquita continued making payments and
workers were still being massacred, one should consider stopping the payments and selling the
farmland. Perhaps Chiquita could even relocate the banana plantation and help relocate the workers
to a more secure area.
Chiquita faced legal challenges by doing business in a politically unstable foreign environment.
A lesson learned from this case is to keep up with and always abide by the laws set in the foreign
country, as well as one s own country. Following the laws and making sure one knows the laws is
good advice for any firm starting a business in a similarly volatile

Incarnational Apologetics Essay
In reaction to the article on Incarnational Apologetics, how does this approach impact the way
evangelism is taught and acted out in daily life? How do you balance incarnational and
informational approaches to evangelism? Is there a connection? In addition, based on McRaney
Chapter 8, how would the distinction between Informational and Incarnational approaches to
evangelism relate to the barriers you have in witnessing? For instance, do your struggle relating
to people on an incarnational level; or are you afraid on an informational level that people might
ask a question that you cannot answer? What barriers need to be removed in your life in order for

The approach of this article with today evangelism deals with the counterfeit faith of some people
proclaiming Jesus as their savior. However, if this faith does not show evidence by transforming
their lives, then does not deserved to be called saving faith. Such transformation has to show a
change on their behaviors. This does not stop there. A true Christian need to perform daily self
examination of its own testimony. Another false gospel is to separate incarnational from
informational apologetic. They go hand in hand as an absolute truth of Jesus Christ in
evangelism. Some would have us believe that incarnational apologetic is not necessary in our
society. But, they stand very far from the truth. Both incarnational and informational apologetic
are interlaced and important tools for our daily life. The practical application is to be able to
balance both terms in our daily life. What I m trying to say is that we should view it as a daily
self examination to authentically show the love of Christ in once life. In fact, the will of God
has never been that his children live under a colossal failure day by day due to this counterfeit
incarnational apologetic way of leaving. On the contrary, John said, for He who is in you is
greater than he who is in the world (1 John 4:4). So, the connection between the two terms is very
clear. Therefore, God s message to us has not changed a bit. It remains

Interpretation Of Genesis
The Bible is the world s most widely read book. It contains multiple holy books that reveal who
God is and account for His many works for humankind. These books describe the story of God
from creation, to the fall, to redemption, and lastly to the new creation known as revelation. The big
picture of the Bibleis to tell the story of God s works from creation of the world, which was
Genesis, to the end, which is revelation. It is important to familiarize oneself with these passages
and texts because they serve the purpose to teach important lessons to help humankind live in
God s image. As stated in the ESV Study Guide, The Bible contains 66 books, written in three
languages over 1,500 years by dozens of authors writing in numerous genres for diverse
audiences. For this reason, the meaning of the texts of the Bible are left to each reader s
interpretations and requires technical skill and spiritual receptivity. This assignment will
demonstrate my knowledge and interpretation of the Bible and its big picture. Graeme
Goldsworthy s work on biblical theology, outlines the story of the bible as God s people in God s
place under God s rule, meaning God is the creator of everything (Shaw). The bible begins with the
book of Genesis. Genesis comes from the Greek word of origin . It is the book of the origin of
the world and the beginning of Creation, as God is the creator of all things, include people. The
importance of Genesis is that it includes laws for the Jewish people

The Industrial Revolution Of The Iron Mill By Rebecca...
The industrial revolution was a time of invention, progress and opportunity. However, there was
also a darker side to it all. Rebecca Harding Davis, author of Life in the Iron Mills, tells the story
of ironworker Hugh Wolfe from a first person narrator s point of view. This unnamed narrator of
an unspecified gender is part of the more privileged class of society. This person resides in the
house that the two protagonists of the story, Hugh and Debora Wolfe, used to live in. The higher
ups of this time had one mindset: there were two worlds society consisted of. Those that had
money and were considered civilized , and the rest of the population, working tirelessly, hardly
considered humans. These upper class characters proposed this idea with a rational, persuasive
manner. Davis purpose was to show the reader how wrong this view was and expose the evils
within the industrial society while also promising a better future. I agree with her purpose, as today
s society sees the industrial revolutionas a very important piece to today s modern world. This is
true, and the industrial revolution had a huge impact on how our world operates and functions
today, but the darker side of this time period, working conditions, and morality are generally never
discussed. The story starts off with the narrator observing the people below from a window,
bustling around a middle class mill town. The narrator describes the poor quality of the town,
smoke from the factories filling the sky and

Atrahasis Account Of The Great Flood Essay
Atrahasis: Account of the Great Flood
The relationship between gods and humanity in Atrahisis: The Account of The Great Flood seems
to carry great irresponsibility. Most of the gods display the weak characteristics of humans. They
whine about work, constantly complain, selfishly create humans and then wish them dead. Enki
and Atrahasis, two of the main characters in the flood story (one god and one human), gain a mutual
respect that displays the proper relationship between humans and the divine. A relationship of
prayerful calling out to the gods, followed by a merciful response toward humankind, is the healthy
and correct picture this story shows us. A correct relationship between gods and humans carries the
possibility of eternal life ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

creates a bothersome preponderance of noise on earth. The gods become angry, due to the racket,

When the disease hit, the good man, Atrahasis, who had his ear open to his god Enki (PFP 8),

the Indians and their camouflage within the surroundings but also to weaponry they used and
the way they used them, The bows they use are as thick as the arm, of eleven or twelve palms in

Why Is Data Security Important
In today s advanced world of technology, valuable information holds the same amount of worth
that of new world currency. Since information is highly important, it is crucial that it remains
secured. This is ultimately covered by data security and privacy. Online data is a hacker s dream,
as it holds the ultimate value of materials for these cybercriminals. For example, on a broader
scale, banking information can be worth over a thousand dollars depending on the account balance.
If cybercriminals get a hold of these information s, it can be costly for businesses. On a smaller
scale, for a small business, customer information theft can paralyze operations and even put a
company out of business. In order to prevent these crimes, there are nine important data security
policies that starts with ensuring data security accountability, policies that govern network services,
scanning for vulnerabilities, managing patches, system data security policies, the response to
incidents, acceptable use, monitoring compliance, and account monitoring and control.
Ensuring data security accountability is an important factor in a company. The company needs to
make sure they are aware of the responsibilities. Information like confidential data has value and
also bank account statements, personal information, and credit card numbers. According to a
statement on IT Security Community Blog: A very key component of protecting information
confidentiality would be encryption. Encryption ensures that

Food Industry And Its Effects On The Health And Prosperity...
Engineered Food
Technology and industrialization of the food industry have changed how food is grown, and altered
its nutritional value. Multinational organizations are making decisions that affect the health and
prosperity of people worldwide. These organizations have found ingenuous ways of packaging and
marketing unsafe products to the public. Education and awareness of the problems are the only
hope for improving the food industry and the quality of food.
Industrialization of food began with the advent of fast food chains. The McDonald brothers were
the first to introduce assembly line food processing. By assigning each employee one task to
perform they were more efficient, and they paid those employees less than employers who expected
an employee to perform start to finish tasks. The food industry implemented the assembly line
approach, quickly changing how food is processed, and decreasing the pay rate for workers. Meat
processing once regarded as a profession performed by skilled butchers, now it is a highly
dangerous job filled by minority or illegal immigrants willing to take health and deportation risks
for a very low wage. Efficiency and cost drives all bad behavior across the food industry. (Kenner,
2008)
Cattle once raised on grass and grains now feed on liquefied protein, liquefied fat and corn. The
calves are still grass fed until they reach 400 500 pounds; they are then sold to stocker operators
who start feeding corn to the cattle. This is an unnatural

An Essay About My Cultural Identity
What is my cultural identity? Personally, I don t think I am completely assured on what my cultural
identity is, but I can do my best on explaining it. However, I won t get started on that yet, first I ll
explain the occasion of me learning about my identity. At almost the beginning of the year, it was
announced in our English class that we would be doing an essay on our cultural identities. When
my teacher announced this I thought to myself, What in the world is a cultural identity, or even my
cultural identity? In these months, we have gotten to learn the definition of culture, and what it
means to us, individually., I believe that culture means a group of people that share the same
customs, way of life, and beliefs. Also, over these last couple of months we have been reading
texts all about people knowing and understanding their cultural identities, meanwhile I still didn
t understand my own. All I know is that I was born on February 11, 2002, I like movies and
music, and my mom is from Chile and my Dad is from Virginia. Now that didn t feel like enough
for me to write on, but then I started thinking about all of the cultural differences that my parents
have had raising me as a person, and how those have all combined to make me. In my short 15
years of life, the culture clashes have sometimes affected me on my thoughts and opinions,
which I ll talk about later on. As well as how movies and music have affected my perspectives
and opinions. Now there are a lot of aspects that make me as a person, but the one I want to
develop on the most would be the fact that I have been raised by two almost completely different
cultures, my dad being raised in a more conservative setting, while my mom was raised in a more
carefree, but still careful setting, but they both lived in similar living conditions, not having a lot of
money, but they found ways in their times to overcome those issues and cope with them. Which
makes them similar on how they have raised me and my two siblings, but still quite different in
other aspects. I found this part of me, with the combined cultures of my parents, to be very
conflicting at times because when my dad would talk about different topics, my mother would just
have a completely

What Is The Main Idea Of Race Talk
Although the primary utilization of this book is centered on the psychological aspects of racial
dialogues viz. race talk, it also exposes the irrational fears, attitudes, and beliefs, inherent in our
(The United States) society. It is about the persistent avoidance of honest dialogues on race that
may uncover the true inequalities and injustices inflicted on people of color. What talking about race
does is open the dialogue and allow a view of the lived experience of those who suffer from
oppression. It potentially grasps these experiences and presents the possibility of moving the
reader from a perceived nonracist being into the realm of antiracism. From the nonracist point of
view, one can be silent on the topic of race and hold firm

of the AIDS epidemic, but I didn t know that Kaposi Sarcoma was around longer than that. I
learned that in 1872, Mortiz Kaposi described the cancerin Europe as blotches on the skin, which
targeted older men because they are immunosuppressed. I learned that this is because, as you age
your immune system goes down. I learned that in the 80 s there was no diagnosis of HIV so if
someone show up with Kaposi Sarcoma, the doctors would use this as a sign that they have HIV.

(Bowman Dodge, 2013 pg. 79). Although this field is growing, some frustrations from graduates
about the educational programs have been on the rise. This article discusses what could be a
contributing factor to these frustrations and possible solutions to alleviate them. Bowman and
Dodge s assessment of these factors provides helpful insight as to why athletic trainers are
dissatisfied with their jobs, however, the article has several components that are not done well.

Because I am a student athletic trainer, I can relate to the frustrations that some of the participants
expressed. I also found it very interesting that the article included a section about low
compensation. Bowman and Dodge stated in the article that the amount of complaints about
low compensation are in the minority, and this could be one of the reasons that more has not
been done to increase the compensation for athletic trainers. The article also discussed that the
NATA was doing more to help with increasing the pay, but more people are needed to bring the
topic to a larger issue. I also found the article helpful in that I am currently looking for schools to
attend for a master s in athletic training. This article has helped me realize that I need to look at
more than financials and requirements of a program when I look into different schools. While
these are important things to consider, I now know to be aware of what I don t want in a
program, to look at the professors and their backgrounds and evaluations, the BOC passing or
failing rates, and the classroom/clinical expectations and academic load on the students. I will
continue with this topic, but I d like to move the topic towards compensation. The experience that I
have, although little, is enough to make me curious as to why athletic trainers get paid so little

  • 3. Differences Between Euthyphro And Socrates Euthyphro by Plato introduces a dilemma that invites one to ask if what we do is just because we say it is or is it just because the gods say so. This dialogue transpires between Euthyphro and Socrates. Socrates was a student of all things in the sky and below the earth. As a student, a pupil of all that there is to learn, one will ask questions. This is what Socratesdid. Euthyphrowas a theologian that was acquainted with Socrates through means unknown. Although he was familiar with Socrates s method of communicating with others, Euthyphro did not seem to mind Socrates s questioning until he, himself, was questioned. The two meet at the courthouse, awaiting separate trials. Euthyphro was prosecuting his father for murder, and Socrates... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It also makes me wonder if the meaning of piety and impiety would have been questioned if this conversation did not occur. Throughout the reading, I found myself unable to define my own opinion of the meaning of piety and impiety, as this was not something that I considered before. Piety can hardly be seen as a bad thing, but is it only considered good because people consider it to be good, or is it good because the gods esteem it to be so? Euthyphro grapples with this idea, but ultimately falls short of a definite solution to the question at ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Comparison of Whitman and Dickenson Poems America experienced profound changes during the mid 1800 s. New technologies and ideas helped the nation grow, while the Civil War ripped the nation apart. During this tumultuous period, two great American writers captured their ideas in poetry. Their poems give us insight into the time period, as well as universal insight about life. Although polar opposites in personality, Emily Dickinson and Walt Whitman created similar poetry. Dickinson s Hope is a Thing with Feathers and Whitman s O Captain! My Captain! share many qualities. br br Hope is a Thing with Feathers and O Captain! My Captain! contain a similar scansion. Both have a predominantly iambic meter. The unaccented beat followed by the accented beat creates a rising ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Unlike in Dickinson s poem, the rhyming scheme carries throughout the whole poem, although the AABBCDED rhyme pattern contains a few cases of near rhyme. br br Dickinson and Whitman also use similar poetic devices in Hope is a Thing with Feathers and O Captain! My Captain! Each poem contains an extended metaphor. In Dickinson s poem, a bird clearly symbolizes hope. The first stanza introduces the bird metaphor: В‘Hope is the thing with feathers /That perches in the soul. The next lines В‘And sings the tune without the words /And never stopsВ—at allВ— illustrate the interminable nature of the bird and hope. The second stanza expands the metaphor by saying В‘And sweetestВ—in the GaleВ—is heardВ—. The bird s song, or hope, is the sweetest during a Gale, or troubled times. The first lines in the final stanza В‘I ve heard it in the chillest land / And on the strangest Sea describe the bird, or hope, as being everywhere. The last lines В‘Yet, never, in Extremity,/It asked a crumbВ —of Me show the unselfish nature of the bird; hope never asks for anything in return. O Captain! My Captain! contains a more complicated and cryptic extended metaphor. Basically, Abraham Lincoln captains the metaphorical ship of the United States through the Civil War. The second line В‘The ship has weather d every rack, the prize we sought is won means the United States survived the tribulation of the Civil War, and the citizens won the prize they sought, unity. • 5. A Research Study On Regenerative Medicine And Transplantation Regenerative medicine and transplantation is the recent advancement in the field of scientific medical research embarking on the evolvement of embryonic stem cells(ESCs)and reprogrammed human somatic cells called induced pleuri potent stem cells(iPSCs) .Human embryonic stem cells were first derived in 1998 by Thomson et al. and induced pleuri potent stem cells(iPSCs) in 2007(Thai Journal of Obstetrics and GynaecologyApril 2013) The innate proficiency of the human embryonic stem cells to differentiate into multiple cell lineages i.e pluripotency and worthy of self renewal score them as invaluable sources in therapeutic and diagnostic field. However, there are some impediments seen in the generation and utilisation of these ESCs as some countries believe that isolation of ESCS from embryos is detrimental to the embryos and as they are not patient specific , auto rejection is observed in some cases. (Thai Journal of Obstetrics and GynaecologyApril 2013) To overcome this, scientists have identified iPSCs by reprogramming of certain somatic cells. Vivid progression in the remedy of infertility will be possible with the transformation of germ cells from stem cells. The mechanism of differentiation of ES cells in vitro and in vivo are not well inferred due to limited number of oocytes available through donation programmes. Functional or mature gametes have fail to develop in vitro as germ cells do not develop beyond the earliest stage, persistently generating low number ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Value Sensitive Design In Value Sensitive Design and Nanotechnology by Ronald Sandler, Sandler explains the process engineers must consider while they design a technology. Sandler introduces technology and its relationship with society. He points out that some technologies are welcomed by society and may solve world issues while others are resisted by society because they may cause problems. Sandler then observes the dependency humans have on technology. He talks about how important technology is to the survival human race, but also how many current social interactions now happen through technology. He then briefly mentions the theme of the article when he writes about deciding if a technology is ethical or not. Sandler states that if there were more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He states that the vast majority of people choose projects that will have a positive outcome, however, it may not always be the best project. Sandler s example of this is cancer research as opposed malaria treatment, which is more prevalent in third world countries, while neither project has a negative outcome. His second idea of value sensitive design is listed as defining success and how technology can have different types of success. Sandler says that definition of success must be defined clearly first off. The example that Sandler uses is the One Laptop Per Child initiative, which was to get underprivileged kids a laptop for less than $100. Although the original program failed, it lead to the $75 One Tablet per Child program, so it may be considered a success. Sandler s third concept of value sensitive design is means and byproducts, which delves into how many technologies have unintended byproducts, and how the ends don t always justify the means. One tool that he explains is the Life Cycle Assessment, which tracks a technology through its life to observe the pros and cons it will have on society. Sandler then explores how nanotechnology may seem ideal at first glance, but leaves a lot of room for privacy issues. He thinks that by having social scientists work with engineers, many issues will be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Bob Dylan And The American Civil Rights And Anti War... Bob Dylan (/Л€dЙ ЄlЙ™n/; born Robert Allen Zimmerman, May 24, 1941) is an American singer songwriter, artist and writer. He has been influential in popular music and culture for more than five decades. Much of his most celebrated work dates from the 1960s when his songs chronicled social unrest, although Dylan repudiated suggestions from journalists that he was a spokesman for his generation. Nevertheless, early songs such as Blowin in the Wind and The Times They Are a Changin became anthems for the American civil rights and anti war movements. After he left his initial base in the American folk music revival, his six minute single Like a Rolling Stone altered the range of popular music in 1965. His mid 1960s recordings, backed by rock musicians, reached the top end of the United States music charts while also attracting denunciation and criticism from others in the folk movement. Dylan s lyrics have incorporated various political, social, philosophical, and literary influences. They defied existing pop music conventions and appealed to the burgeoning counterculture. Initially inspired by the performances of Little Richard, and the songwriting of Woody Guthrie, Robert Johnson, and Hank Williams, Dylan has amplified and personalized musical genres. His recording career, spanning 50 years, has explored the traditions in American song from folk, blues, and country to gospel, rock and roll, and rockabilly to English, Scottish, and Irish folk music, embracing even jazz ... This statement can be readily depicted through various texts which include Raimond Gaita s memoir, Romulus My Father and Universal Studio s 2004 film, Hating Alison Ashley. Both of these texts involve various techniques that assist in portraying the concept of belonging to both an environment and to relationships. Belonging is a concept that is more complex than it first appears. It may be experienced on many levels between belonging and not belonging, be it to a family, a friendship, a place or a surrounding environment. It is a perception that is shaped within personal, cultural, historical and social contexts. Belonging... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Erika Yuken is competent in her own way but out of place within her community and school environment. However, it appears to be a matter of perception, Erika believes that she is better than or different from what she actually is. This attribute makes her think that she is above everyone and ultimately creates barriers between her interacting with her peers and in turn belonging to her school environment. Erika and Alison both feel insecure and awkward in their school environment, but for varying reasons. Erika assumes she doesn t belong and that she should be someone else. Life can be lonely when you re exceptional. This reflective statement reveals that she thinks herself to be better than others and also highlights the isolation she feels because of this perception. At the beginning of the film a montage of photos of beautiful people, houses and wealth are shown in conjunction with a voice over, spoken by Erika. • 11. Thomas Jefferson s Relationship With The Barbary Pirates... If a nation expects to be ignorant and free, in a state of civilization, it expects what never was and never will be. These words from Thomas Jefferson provide insight into a man who was a complicated, dynamic character in the founding of the young United States. Every president has a moment or event that defines his path in history. Though it was a test for him and his administration, the Barbary Wars proved Thomas Jeffersonto be a strong president in his handling of foreign affairs. The meaning for the name Barbary is a region in between the sixteenth century until the nineteenth century, which was a group of countries from Northern Africa. The relationship with the Barbary Pirates begins on September, 1780. The Committee for Foreign Affairs received a letter from the Emperor of Morocco formally recognizing their new independence and proposing that the two states negotiate a peace treaty and trade agreement. However the colonies were in the midst of the Revolutionary War and for several years the United States did not address the Emperor s request. Frustrated by the United States, Emperor Muhammad ordered his corsairs to capture an American ship in order to force the Americans to negotiating. When the Revolutionary War ended in 1783, the French left the U.S. merchant fleet on its own making Americans easy prey for pirates in the Mediterranean. Attacks on merchant vessels raised concern about what to do to protect maritime commerce. Jefferson, a diplomat at this time, and later a Secretary of State and Vice President, advocated for the use of military force against the Barbary States and their privateers. • 12. Myth of Courage Exposed in The Things They Carried Essay Ah for a young man all looks fine and noble if he goes down in war, hacked to pieces under a slashing bronze blade he lies there dead. . .but whatever death lays bare all wounds are marks of glory. (Homer 22.83 87) As students we are brainwashed by ancient myths such as The Iliad, where war is extolled and the valorous warrior praised. Yet, modern novels such as Tim O Brien s The Things They Carried (THINGS) challenge those very notions. Like The Iliad, THINGS is about war. It is about battles and soldiers, victory and survival, yet the message O Brien gives us in THINGS runs almost contradictory to the traditional war story. Whereas traditional stories of war take place on battlefields where soldier battles soldier and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... What the reader experiences while reading the novel, is entirely different from what he expects from a typical war story. Absolutes must be absent from the text, if O Brien is to illustrate how any of our mythologies, including courage, frequently fail to meet up to actual experience. As many have noted, O Brien ingeniously facilitates a mood of incongruity, or disconnection, between fiction and fact in The Things They Carried through sheer structure. By blurring lines between fantasy and reality, THINGS truly becomes a contradiction of itself. As Catherine Calloway notes, one of the ways in which O Brien achieves this blurring of lines, is to model the narrator of THINGS after himself, a drafted Vietnam war veteran, a Harvard graduate, and a writer with the same name of Tim O Brien (para. 3). O Brien is aware that the practiced reader knows not to confuse the narrator with the author, and yet the reader is encouraged to do just that. The purpose, of course, is to keep the reader as unbalanced, as unsure, of what we are told to be truths, as is the Vietnam soldier. Another way in which O Brien blurs fiction and fact is through his narrator s (heretofore referred to as Tim), constant and contradictory claims as to the veracity of his stories. One moment Tim swears that a story is true, such as in the chapter The Man I Killed, when he speaks so realistically and in such detail, about killing an enemy soldier (THINGS 141), but ... One business brings market ready supplies and the other requires greater diligence in planning and management. Opening a franchise brings a brand name and materials to a business to produce instant recognition and bring in brand loyal consumers. A franchise creates a business relationship with a franchisor to bring a brand name, trade dress, and trademark to a franchisee (Kubasek et al., 2015, p. 431). In turn for the franchise material and name, the franchisee pays a percentage of sales to the franchisor (Kubasek et al., 2015, p. 431). As reported in 2011, franchisingwas so popular that it was the genesis of one of every 12 retail businesses in the United States (Welsh, Desplaces, Davis, 2011, p. 4). A weakness of owning a franchise was reported by Perrigot, Hussain, and Windsperger (2015) where franchisees have to strictly follow operating manuals and almost all of the strategic decisions are made at the franchisor level (p. 696). Although it does have a curtailed degree of freedom, a franchise brings greater stability with a proven business style and support system. On the contrary, an independent operation is different in that there are no trade materials or products; however, there is greater freedom to operate (Perrigot, Hussain, Windsperger, 2015, pp. 700 701). Tradition is a way that Native Americans have been able to coexist for so long, and is also a way that natives have found stability from tribe to tribe. As Native Americans graciously welcomed colonists into the new world years ago, they did not receive equal respect in return. The colonists invading America gave natives a harsh ultimatum, to either leave America, or conform to the new society that would soon destroy the teepees and farmlands the natives considered home. The oppression from the colonists, gave natives the incentive that being any race other than white was not something to be proud of. Through the use of narrativewriting done by Native Americans, readers are given an opportunity to see history through the lens of the oppressed. This further gives an opportunity for readers understand the very situation that many people who may even look like them once had to deal with. This allows us to not only draw specific conclusions about this period of oppression, but it displays how easy it can be for people to fall into very specific standards, and conform to societies that do not protect their values, and lives. By assigning each employee one task to perform they were more efficient, and they paid those employees less than employers who expected an employee to perform start to finish tasks. The food industry implemented the assembly line approach, quickly changing how food is processed, and decreasing the pay rate for workers. Meat processing once regarded as a profession performed by skilled butchers, now it is a highly dangerous job filled by minority or illegal immigrants willing to take health and deportation risks for a very low wage. Efficiency and cost drives all bad behavior across the food industry. (Kenner, 2008) Cattle once raised on grass and grains now feed on liquefied protein, liquefied fat and corn. The calves are still grass fed until they reach 400 500 pounds; they are then sold to stocker operators who start feeding corn to the cattle. This is an unnatural ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 50. An Essay About My Cultural Identity What is my cultural identity? Personally, I don t think I am completely assured on what my cultural identity is, but I can do my best on explaining it. However, I won t get started on that yet, first I ll explain the occasion of me learning about my identity. At almost the beginning of the year, it was announced in our English class that we would be doing an essay on our cultural identities. When my teacher announced this I thought to myself, What in the world is a cultural identity, or even my cultural identity? In these months, we have gotten to learn the definition of culture, and what it means to us, individually., I believe that culture means a group of people that share the same customs, way of life, and beliefs. Also, over these last couple of months we have been reading texts all about people knowing and understanding their cultural identities, meanwhile I still didn t understand my own. All I know is that I was born on February 11, 2002, I like movies and music, and my mom is from Chile and my Dad is from Virginia. Now that didn t feel like enough for me to write on, but then I started thinking about all of the cultural differences that my parents have had raising me as a person, and how those have all combined to make me. In my short 15 years of life, the culture clashes have sometimes affected me on my thoughts and opinions, which I ll talk about later on. As well as how movies and music have affected my perspectives and opinions. Now there are a lot of aspects that make me as a person, but the one I want to develop on the most would be the fact that I have been raised by two almost completely different cultures, my dad being raised in a more conservative setting, while my mom was raised in a more carefree, but still careful setting, but they both lived in similar living conditions, not having a lot of money, but they found ways in their times to overcome those issues and cope with them. Which makes them similar on how they have raised me and my two siblings, but still quite different in other aspects. I found this part of me, with the combined cultures of my parents, to be very conflicting at times because when my dad would talk about different topics, my mother would just have a completely ... • 51. What Is The Main Idea Of Race Talk Although the primary utilization of this book is centered on the psychological aspects of racial dialogues viz. race talk, it also exposes the irrational fears, attitudes, and beliefs, inherent in our (The United States) society. It is about the persistent avoidance of honest dialogues on race that may uncover the true inequalities and injustices inflicted on people of color. What talking about race does is open the dialogue and allow a view of the lived experience of those who suffer from oppression. It potentially grasps these experiences and presents the possibility of moving the reader from a perceived nonracist being into the realm of antiracism. From the nonracist point of view, one can be silent on the topic of race and hold firm ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 52. Summary Of Professor Blossom Damania In this video Professor Blossom Damania talked about how KSHV sequence generates primers and how the virus Herpes exist on normal healthy people. I learned that the virus is waiting for something to go wrong so they can harm you. I also learned that KSHV was discovered because of the AIDS epidemic, but I didn t know that Kaposi Sarcoma was around longer than that. I learned that in 1872, Mortiz Kaposi described the cancerin Europe as blotches on the skin, which targeted older men because they are immunosuppressed. I learned that this is because, as you age your immune system goes down. I learned that in the 80 s there was no diagnosis of HIV so if someone show up with Kaposi Sarcoma, the doctors would use this as a sign that they have HIV. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 53. Athletic Training Summary Athletic training is a growing field and predicted to have a 37% increase in jobs by 2018 (Bowman Dodge, 2013 pg. 79). Although this field is growing, some frustrations from graduates about the educational programs have been on the rise. This article discusses what could be a contributing factor to these frustrations and possible solutions to alleviate them. Bowman and Dodge s assessment of these factors provides helpful insight as to why athletic trainers are dissatisfied with their jobs, however, the article has several components that are not done well. Bowman and Dodge s argument about frustrations in graduate ATEPs, athletic trainingeducation programs, was supported in these ways: organization, specific chosen ATEPs, and the interview... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Because I am a student athletic trainer, I can relate to the frustrations that some of the participants expressed. I also found it very interesting that the article included a section about low compensation. Bowman and Dodge stated in the article that the amount of complaints about low compensation are in the minority, and this could be one of the reasons that more has not been done to increase the compensation for athletic trainers. The article also discussed that the NATA was doing more to help with increasing the pay, but more people are needed to bring the topic to a larger issue. I also found the article helpful in that I am currently looking for schools to attend for a master s in athletic training. This article has helped me realize that I need to look at more than financials and requirements of a program when I look into different schools. While these are important things to consider, I now know to be aware of what I don t want in a program, to look at the professors and their backgrounds and evaluations, the BOC passing or failing rates, and the classroom/clinical expectations and academic load on the students. I will continue with this topic, but I d like to move the topic towards compensation. The experience that I have, although little, is enough to make me curious as to why athletic trainers get paid so little when they do so much for an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
