Mexican American War Research Paper
On April 25, 1846, the first shots of Mexican American War were fired during a skirmish near Rio
Grande. Between 1846 and 1848, the war fought between two North American nations, the United
States and Mexico. It began with a bullet, it then took lives, it ended with a treaty, and it made its mark
on history s timeline. It was a defining event for both nations. By the time the war was over Mexico
had lost nearly half of its territory. But Texas actually gained its independence from Mexico in 1836.
The war between Mexico and the United States had begun because of the struggle over who would
control Texas. But it was relatively united in refusing to recognize the independence of Texas. Mexico

Those in the free states, north tended to hold this view of the war. Many of the people that moved to
Texas ignored the slavery restriction. The northerners feared that Texas would join the Union as a
slavery state. It was that fear that Calhoun had used to ensure that President Tyler s treaty with Texas
would not get the two out of the third majority needed in the Senate for approval.
General Zachary Taylor leads U.S. troops past the Nueces River toward the Rio Grande River. Taylor
led U.S. troops on a march they occupied the land below the Nueces River and claimed the area east

The History Of Islam And Islam
The History of Islam
Islam is a religion that was founded in 622 C.E. Its origin is traced to the Arabian Peninsula, and
currently has an estimated 1.5 billion followers worldwide. The sacred texts that are associated with
Islam is the Qur an and Allah is the Deity they pay homage to. Muslims believe that there is only one
true God and several time per day, they stop everything to participate in prayer rituals. The region, in
which Islam was founded, was a melting pot of religious beliefs. There were small concentrations
within the region that practiced Judaism and Christianity, but the religions were overshadowed by
cults of the Tribal Gods that participate in barbaric practices. (A Brief History in Islam, 2009). All

Pillar # 1
Pillar one is the Shahadah, which declares that Allah is the only. This confirms faith in one heavenly
truth. It also declares that God s messenger is Muhammad. This affirms obedience to God through
receipt of his message as shown to the people through Muhammad. This affirmation of faith suggests
admission of the follower into the all encompassing community of Muslims and is mandatory in
converting to Islam.
Pillar # 2
Pillar two consists of the five daily prayers that must take place, which shows the supporter s
obedience to God and serves as shared, tangible proof of the devotion to Islam. Prayers are carried out
right before sunrise, at midday, in midafternoon, right after dusk, and at nightfall, between an hour
following dusk and midnight. Prayers are to be directed towards Mecca and should be performed in a
state of ceremonial cleanliness, attained by either a bath or ceremonial cleansing.
Pillar # 3
Pillar three is the giving of alms. This is in remembrance of one s all inclusive social duties to the
public, to a representative of a local mosque, of the Islamic government or to a religious officer. In
other words, the giving of alms is about contributions given to the indigent. It is beneficial to the poor
and helps the contributor by moving him or her towards more devoutness and obedience to Allah. The
giving of alms is thought to be a form of reverence to God.
Pillar # 4
Pillar four is in celebration of Ramadan. It is the month

Contemporary Issues In Supreme Court Cases
Both articles deal with contemporary issues that are subject to much controversy in our era. The
supreme court ruling of both cases show just how a constitutional government works and how judicial
review is practiced. Although all parties may not agree with the outcomes of the cases, it is safe to say
that the final verdict serves to protect the interest of the people; the main principle for our distant, yet
recent revolution, and the creation of a nation destined to serve as a model for the rest of the world. In
Supreme Court rules in favor of same sex marriage nationwide we are able to see the slow progression
of one of the most debated issues ever presented. The topic of gay marriage seemed to linger in every

sex couples are now guaranteed the same rights that hetero couples enjoy, such as insurance status,
inheritance, visitation right, and adoption/custody. Knowing that a warrant is needed to be tracked,
one can now be more at ease with the worries that are consequential to the advance technology of the

Mindfulness-Based Stress Prevention
One of the most important considerations for counselors and counselors in training is the possibility of
burn out due to the inherent stress that comes with being in the helping profession. This burn out can
lead to a whole host of problems including ethical and legal issues, attention and concentration issues
as well as psychological issues for the counselor. Because of this, many attempts are being made to
promote self care in the industry, but not much progress has been made in measuring the need for
teaching self care to counselors in training. Shapiro, Brown and Beigel (2007) found that while there
has been substantial research on the effects of stress and burn out on veteran counselors, there is a

as the group will begin with a questionnaire and increase awareness of life problems and tools used to
cope with these problems (Corey et al., 2013). The introduction of the group will start with an ice
breaker that allows group members to speak about their current stressors and coping strategies. A
Jenga tower will be set up in the middle of the group and each group member will have the chance to

removed a block, they will choose a number from one to twelve that will correlate with a list of twelve
questions I have generated about the stress experiences of the group (Appendix A). After they have
answered the question, the member can then place the block on top of the tower and the next member
will have a turn. This activity allows clients to experience a small amount of stress that will not only

That morning I had a really good feeling about today. That morning was a dry, and so humid you
wouldn t believe it. The sun was shining bright and the clouds were gleaming with excitement. It was
Thursday. My team called it Championship Thursday because we were fighting to win a national title
in Myrtle Beach. As I arrived at the field for our first game which was the first game of bracket play.
Yesterday was pool play. We played 6 pool play games and won them all so that put us in the number
one seed. That s mean we had a pretty easy game ahead of us. As the day continued we one 2 more.
We had a little break after the third game. Next game was what we were all dreaming of, the national
championship game. It was time. I was nervous, out of my mind nervous. Everyone was, especially
our coaches. When we stepped on the field I had a good feeling that we were gonna step off the field
as national champions. After we got everything set up in our dugout we went to warm up. As we were
hitting in the batting cages teams were coming up to us and saying how amazing we were and how
bad they wanted us to win this game. This made us even more pumped to win. After we got back from
the batting cages it was so packed with people and there were many softball and baseball teams there
to watch the game. We had to take grounders and pop flies. Which we were doing really good. As I
was warming up our number one pitcher I was watching the other team and wow did they look good.

Disadvantages Of Lesbian Art
To group a subsection of artists under the umbrella term lesbian artists , is to do them and their art a
disservice. Lesbian artists are just as varied in their work as any other group of artists. Possibly it is
just easier for people to have labels so as to easily identify what they like or dislike. It seems as though
for some, it has been a selling point or marketing tool, for better or worse. According to Sadie Lee in
her essay for Outlooks, This means there exists a certain amount of tokenism where if someone were
in need of a lesbian artist (for equal opportunity reasons or in an attempt to be alternative or
controversial) my chances of being selected are rather good. She continues on to say that had she been
viewed on her skills as an artist alone, and not her sexuality, she would not have been given the
opportunities for exposure that she has had (Lee 124). So, is it imperative that we give a definitive
label to it? No, but Harmony Hammond puts it eloquently when she states, I like to think of lesbian art
as a braid with three strands, gender, sexuality, and art, though from time to time other strands, such as
history or identity are woven in and out...a flexible rope of incredible strength and beauty (Hammond
10). Although it defies singular definition lesbian art is as fluid and dynamic as the groups it tries to
encompass: women, lesbians, feminists, dykes, bisexuals, gender queer, and so on. While the term
lesbian art is relatively new, it is a product of

The Digital Of Digital Forensics
With advances in digital technology, the scope of digital crimes has also increased multi fold. Digital
forensics is a science, which involves collection, preservation and documentation of the digital
evidence from various digital storage media. This entire process must be undertaken in fashion that is
appropriate forensically, and results in collection of data, which can be made admissible in a court of
law during the investigation of a crime. Since most of the transactions today happen across digital
media, it is imperative that organizations world over understand the fundamentals of forensics, and
also take steps in training their employees. If such procedures are not put in place, then it may result in
the data of an organization to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The branch of Network forensics is relatively a newer branch of digital forensics, and it involves
carefully analyzing the data that is flowing in a network to find any possible evidences of intrusion or
theft. The information flow in a network is always dynamic in nature, and thus this branch of digital
forensics needs to be proactive in its approach. One of the usage of this branch lies in the investigation
of network data for any traffic that might seem anomalous in nature, for the purpose of detecting
intrusions. The second usage lies in the area of law enforcement, where the evidence gathered by
Network Forensics can be used as evidence in case of a crime. Mobile Device Forensics relates to data
and evidence recovery from a mobile device, be it a mobile phone, PDA, tablet, GPS device, and so
on. This area of forensics is a bit challenging due to the reason that exact pin pointing of location
where from communication was initiated is not accurately possible. Other factors adding to the
challenge are the diversity of manufacturers and models, multiple hardware and software
specifications, and data recovery tools that may not bring the desired results on all platforms. Database
Forensics specifically on the analysis of databases, using relevant tools for analysis and manipulation
of data. Analysis of database meta data is also undertaken, along with studying the

Implementing A Collaborative Crm Software Application
Problem Statement
To achieve business agility in the area of marketing, SW4 s sales and marketing departments must
collaborate in order to anticipate challenges and opportunities before they occur (Heisterberg Verma,
2014). To achieve optimal collaborative marketing, SW4 must effectively implement a collaborative
CRM software application so that sales, marketing and other departments can easily share information
they collect from customers. So that all organizations involved in SW4 have access to one CRM
software, these systems must utilize cloud computing as well as be effective in three key marketing
management functions: Marketing Planning, Campaign Management, and Customer Analytics. By
doing this, SW4 will be able to improve cross marketing campaigns and sales promotions, discover
the optimal approach to delivering products and services to different customer segments while
creating a competitive advantage for Sonoma Worldwide Wine Week and increasing profitability for
each organization (Baltzan, 2013).
Challenges and Opportunities Along with the challenge of easily integrating a new collaborative,
cloud based CRM software comes the challenges of training all organizations employees on the new
system and working together to utilize the system to its fullest in order to achieve the desired results.
Findings suggest that organizational changes initiated by management create strategically constructed
silos that force implementation through people and systems

Essay about Romanticism in Frankenstein
Having lived between 18th and 19th century, author Mary Shelley was greatly influenced by the
intellectual movement of Romanticism. Since she was closely associated with many of the great minds
of the Romantic Movement such as her husband Percy B. Shelley and Lord Byron, it is natural that
her works would reflect the Romantic trends. Many label Shelley¡¯s most famous novel Frankenstein
as the first Science Fiction novel in history because its plot contains the process of a scientist named
Victor Frankenstein creating a living human being from dead body parts, but that is only a part of the
entire novel. At its core, Frankenstein is a product of Romanticism featuring the traits of a Romantic
hero on a Romantic quest, the embracement of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Frankenstein at first may seem to be promoting the ideas of Enlightenment with Walton exploring the
North Pole and Frankenstein studying natural philosophy and trying to find the secret of life through
the deductive reasoning of science. However, with Walton failing to explore the North Pole and
Frankenstein¡¯s scientific creation spinning out of his control, Frankenstein emphasizes the theme of
the danger of discovering knowledge with reason and science. Frankenstein devotes almost his entire
life to the study of natural philosophy and the creation of the monster in eagerness to understand the
secret of life, yet this act of creation eventually results in the destruction of everyone close to him and
his ultimate isolation. Likewise, Walton attempts to surpass previous human explorations by
navigating to reach the North Pole but eventually finds himself trapped between sheets of ice unable
to reach his goal. Mary Shelley is conveying a message as a Romantic, with the characters of Walton
and Frankenstein, that the thirst for knowledge and the attempt to explain life through science, both of
which are valued during the Enlightenment movement, can be destructive. Nature¡¯s sublimity and
intense emotions realized through connection with nature, a major emphasis of

Mrs. Mallards response when hearing about her husband s death is shocking and different from how

Nolan wanted to make sure to encapsulate the idea of dreams and reality intertwining with one another
while still connecting emotionally with the audience.
While designing the image, Pfister s intention was to appeal to an audience of individuals who enjoy
the suspense inflicted with thrilling films. He targeted an audience primarily of adults 18 years and up
who belong to the middle to upper class. On the cover of the poster, all the cast members are displayed
in nice attire fitted for those who are quite wealthy. Also, the environment the characters are placed in
appear to be in an upkept area filled with modern looking buildings associated with areas that have
money. Now looking at the poster, most of the cast is represented by young adults all of whom range
from their early 20 s to late 30 s. While the cast is primarily white, two of the characters on the poster
are different race, one being Asian and the other African American so the film is not only targeted to
just one race. These aspects of the characters themselves target a mature audience.

thriller genre. In the center of the film poster itself, all the characters body language appears to be

Teenage Pregnancy In The United States
During the 1600s and up to the early 1900s in the United States, teenage pregnancy was not identified
as a social problem. Instead, the only issue during this time was the pressure of conceiving out of
wedlock. Early family formation during the colonial times was considered normal for Americans due
to the ease of access on resources and land. In the United States, teenage pregnancy developed into a
social problem through the progression of women s roles in society and lack of contraceptives which
resulted to American citizens having to pay higher tax dollars in order for the government to
financially support teen pregnancy and prevention programs.
The first change that led society to identify teen pregnancy as a problem were the responsibilities ...

Therefore, the responsibilities that women took on during the colonial times presented many as a
housewife to independent working women during World War II. Because of the change, women
prioritized their financial needs over starting a family, leading the decline of family formation at an
early age. Nonetheless, when men came back from war, the United States underwent a baby booming
era from 1946 to 1964, so women, including teenage girls started families. Starting from the 1970s,
America s employment rate increased causing many older women to stop forming families and work.
Teenage girls, however, did not. Instead, the numbers for teen pregnancies skyrocketed to about
750,000. Through this came a second change that caused teenage childbearing to become an issue:
Congress enacted Title X and welfare programs to help teen mothers, taxing taxpayers of America
about 9.4 billion dollars yearly. The third change is the increasing amount of awareness and
contraceptives provided to teenagers ever since the outburst in the 1960s. This is due to the prevention
programs and reproductive health care facilities, causing teen pregnancies to decrease starting from
the 1990s. The health clinics like Planned Parenthood offered teens subsidized contraceptive which is
something that failed to occur in the 1960s because birth control pill was way

Middle School Are Essential For The Success Of Students
For me, middle school was probably the most excruciating years of my life. I thought it was only me
and everyone else had it easy and completely understood everything that was happening to their
bodies and minds. In fact, I still have dreams about my middle school years like forgetting my locker
combination or hiding in the bathroom stall because the most popular girls were gossiping about a
friend of yours. The settings in these dreams are always my middle school; I find it amazing that thirty
years after I attended school that I can remember vivid details about the layout, hallways, lockers, and
teachers. The reason for this I believe is that for ALL students the middle school years are the most
influential to shaping and becoming who a person is and who they wish to become. Middle schools
are essential for the success of students because of the unique developmental stages of these students.
For teachers, comprehension of young adolescent development is key to understanding the physical,
emotional, intellectual, social and moral needs and interests of these students (Powell, 2015, p. 55)
and also teachers need to develop a curriculum that is focused on developing students competence in
all subject matter and using their knowledge and available resources to design, implement, and
evaluate challenging, responsive curriculums that result in meaningful learning outcomes (Powell,
2015, p. 145). All students should feel that they are accepted for who he or she is as an

A Research Study On Genetic Testing Essay
The use of genetic information has drawn repeated attention from insurance companies in recent
years. Especially the introduce of genetic testing in the industry, which can help set the level of cost of
premiums for different groups of the population as well as assess the risk. Many parties have been
involved in the debate on whether genetic information can be allowed to use by insurers when
assessing those applications, such as government, insurance companies, health service providers. In
the UK, an agreement was set up by the government and the insurance industry on the use of genetic
test results for the insurance policies and genetic disorders is called the Concordat and Moratorium
(ABI website), which ensures fair rights of access to insurance for customers and information for
insurance companies. In this dissertation, we discuss the background of genetics and insurance starting
with basic concepts of DNA, genes and chromosome in the first section as well as analysis of genetic
testing. Then a brief introduction of genetics of cancer will be given as the basic patterns of cancer
risk associated with mutations in these genes have been defined. The third section will review some
major events involved in the UK s legislations of development of the genetics and insurance. In the
last section we will talk about the impact of genetics on insurance. Obviously, there is a conflict

The second phase of the project includes constructing a pulp mill and will cost US$1 billion.
Today (2004) Pérez main problem is that he has to decide whether the company should go through a
horizontal expansion or a forward integration. In others words, if the company should continue with
the second phase of The Nueva Aldea project becoming the largest market pulp producer in the world
and having the possibility of foregoing other large projects in the next decade or to take advantage of
their low costs in pulp production by forward integrating into paper manufacturing.
Evaluation of the two alternatives:
As regards the horizontal expansion, there are several points that must be taken into account as they
demonstrate that this option will be the correct one: * This expansion will grow the company market
share because they have a cost advantage. * For a company is better and easier to grow in a sector that
they are presently functioning. * The market seems to be moving in favor. * As a result of a horizontal
expansion the company can achieve economies of scale and reduce significantly their costs. * Pulp is
Arauco´s main industrial activity, generating up 52% of EBITDA * Pulp production is the core
competency of Arauco. * Becoming the market leader will allow them to control supply and demand
of the market of pulp. * They have young forests. * Arauco is one of the world´s premier forestry

Stone And Freaks Analysis
Stones and Steaks
The section of silence that punches you in the heart, when you finally look in the mirror and realize
the peak of who you are has been whittled down to this static mist. I am sin, I say to myself. I am
shattered, and thrown all over the room, attempting to pick up each piece. There is never enough glue.
Why do we continue to try to put back together the same heart that we break over, and over again?
Jesus has given us a new heart! He gave us hearts of flesh, and took our hearts of stone. If you drop
and stone and a steak at the same height, the stone will break first. That is why Jesus gives us a
malleable and beautifully sculptable heart. Because without it, we will be stuck in our old way,
unchanging.

Why is it that we chuckle at the child like loudness of Peter, but cringe at the mere thought of Judas.
When Jesus sat down and talked to the disciples, he talked to Judas. When the Disciples were freaking
out on the boat, Judas was there on the boat freaking out to. I believe that we have this snake like
mentality to Judas. That he hung out in the back, with perhaps a grim look on his face. The quiet type
who was conniving with the Pharisees, a plot to destroy Jesus.
Jesus was a perfect man, and Judas was a betting man. It was a popular consensus that Jesus was a
perfect man, and that he had no reason to be killed. Pilot had to wash his hands of the situation, and
Pilot s wife even knew it was wrong to kill him. When Judas, who had betrayed him, realized that
Jesus had been condemned to die, he was filled with remorse. So he took the thirty pieces of silver
back to the leading priests and the elders. (Matthew 27:3). This does not sound like a plot, but a bet.
Judas was betting on Jesus perfection. Judas was thinking perhaps that Jesus would be fine, and when
he realized Jesus was condemned to die the realization came back. And just like any betting man
would do, he valued his money. So, he brought his greatest valuable to the Pharisees and attempted to
get Jesus life back. He was mistaken, that the money wasn t

was painfully made. Nevertheless, to compensate for being without a toy for Vince, we bought a
sporty Harley Davidson motorcycle to occupy his free time. Riding a motorcycle was a more cost
effective sport, plus it was much easier to jump on a bike for a few hours of riding than prepare the
boat for a few hours of sailing. Not quite the same, but even so, a great alternative way to have fun.
Eventually, Vince found lucrative work as a Salesperson at Artistic Tile and Stone; a high quality shop
located in our home town of San Carlos. He enjoyed the customer interaction and the creative outlet it
provided. In just a few months, Vince transformed his successful former career in Technical Sales to a
new one in Design Sales. Completely committed, he immersed himself in learning everything about
the products and became an expert in selling granite and stone. As a result, he quickly became the

Hegel s Master-Slave Dialectic Essay
As presented in the Phenomenology of Spirit, the aim of Life is to free itself from confinement in
itself and to become for itself. Not only does Hegel place this unfolding of Life at the very beginning
of the dialectical development of self consciousness, but he characterizes self consciousness itself as a
form of Life and points to the advancement of self consciousness in the Master/Slave dialectic as the
development of Life becoming for itself. This paper seeks to delineate this often overlooked thread of
dialectical insight as it unfolds in the Master/Slave dialectic. Hegel articulates a vision of the place of
human self consciousness in the process of Life as a whole and throws light on the role of death as an

Much attention has been paid to the notion of Recognition in the Master Slave dialectic. However, the
beginning of the path towards true recognition is marked itself by the recognition of finitude or death.
The very freedom from embeddedness in natural origins of which self consciousness is capable is
intimately tied to its confrontation with the absolute Master, death. In this dialectical move, Hegel has
articulated one of the most profound and paradoxical truths of human existence, namely that an
awareness of death and finitude is the inception of man s potential differentiation of self from his
natural origins and the beginning of man s self consciousness. Not only that: by the cunning of reason
man s mortality is the vehicle through which natural Life redeems itself from its incarceration in itself.
Thus, the very actualization of man s differentiation of self from nature which takes place in work is,
as I shall show, a kind of internalization and transformation of that very finitude. Only as such, can
self consciousness realize its true self.
In the stages leading up to self consciousness, consciousness placed the locus of truth into that which
it took to be other than itself. The particular and immediate being of the

Online Customer Reviews Is An Essential Component Of...
According to Internet World Stats, there are 3,611,375,813 Internet users around the world as of June
30, 2016. Because of this, online customer reviews have become a vital component of businesses and
are considered by many as a form of social proof where people take the word of others as proof that a
particular product or service is valuable and worth getting.
When a potential customer conducts online research about a product or service from a business with
many great reviews, it makes it much easier for them to not only trust the company but also purchase
those goods because of the social proof shared online.
On the contrary, businesses with a shortage of great reviews don t get the benefit of the doubt from
potential customers. Worse yet, having zero reviews is just as detrimental as having negative reviews.
With this in mind, it s crucial that Experts Exchange members do their best to get their existing
customers to share their reviews online as a form of social proof for potential customers.
Try Asking It Never Hurts
If you re new to getting reviews, it may seem a bit awkward to ask customers to assess your business
and share their opinions online about the products or services purchased. But don t let that stop you.
Like the old adage goes, ask and you shall receive.
So instead of feeling hesitant, you need to just simply ask your customers to leave a review. In
parallel, you must also train your staff to make it a point to ask customers for a review as

Not All Deviant Acts Are Criminal
Deviance affirms cultural values and norms, it also clarifies moral boundaries, promotes social unity
and provides jobs to control deviance. Deviant behaviour is contextual in nature in that cultural
differences make it very problematic to define deviance. One may ask this question on deviance, are
humans genetically predisposed at birth with the characteristics that make them act deviantly, or do
the people around them influence them to act this way. This writer seeks to expound on the fact that
deviance is not only criminal and will also highlight the causes and circumstances where individuals
end up exhibiting deviant behaviour. Deviance is defined by Haralambos (2006) as acts which do not
conform to the norms and values of a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Christian religion practiced in this writer s society also promotes the inequality by stipulating that
men are the heads of the household and women are supposed to be submissive to their man. This is
explained in the bible used by the Christians in Ephesians 5 verses 25 and 26. In this verse, women are
supposed to be submissive to their husbands whilst the husbands are the heads. The interpretation is
that the man has overall say over his wife or to some extent even sisters. This status usually ends up
with the man being abusive and inequity also takes place. In reaction and to some extent retaliation,
the women become deviant. They may stop respecting the man, they may start behaving in a wild
manner, dress the opposite and many other contrary actions that to counter the patriarchy kind of rule.
In the social set up, this deviance will not be criminal but results in some labelling. The radical
feminists argue that patriarchy promotes deviance. In this writer s society, women serve men in all
aspects be it household chores and sexual conjugal rights because of the norms of the area which are
highly patriarchal. The resultant effect is that man are in most cases abusive to the extent that they
batter their wives if they find no cooked food at home or if their clothes are not washed and ironed
properly. As a result of the abuse, women become rebellious and act otherwise resulting in them being
labelled deviant because of non conformity with societal values

Importance Of Marine Pollution
The marine ecosystems are hugely critical for Earth and its living organisms which holds the plant that
produces most of the oxygen on earth. Without oxygen many animals would not be able to breath or
even exist. The marine ecosystems have been polluted vastly which is altering the marine population.
Who is at fault for the pollution? The inhabitants of Earth. Fortunately for earth there are ways of
preventing this form of pollution.
The importance of the marine ecosystems and the effects of pollution.
The marine ecosystems are located in the Atlantic, Pacific, Indian, and the Arctic oceans. The National

This is also called global warming which also affects the marine pollution by causing ice sheets and
glaciers to melt rising which also causes sea levels to rise to the point where coastal regions would
flood. Not all air pollution is caused by humans. Natural disasters such as a volcano erupting can
throw out ashes and gases into the atmosphere. Which can lead to light pollution as well by darkening
the sky. Air pollution comes from fossil fuels, coal, smog, and oil. Smog which has nitrogen oxide,
sulfur dioxide, and hydrocarbons can make breathing difficult for the old and the young. Another act
caused by air pollution is acid rain which causes damage in forests and lakes. Water pollution has
many harmful chemicals and can be very deceiving to the eye. Water will appear clean but will
actually not be clean. What contributes to water pollution is oil spills, mining, acid mine drainage, and
sulfur. Drinking contaminated water can expose creatures to harmful chemicals that will affect them
for years or make them sick. The united nations estimates that around 4000 children die of drinking
contaminated water. Fish that are exposed to contaminated water are unsafe to eat and will cause
illness. Land pollution also has many of the same pollutants as water which leaves the soil with
harmful chemicals. Pesticides, contaminated soil, and fertilizers can affect the plants that bear fruits,
animals that eat the fruit, and

The Process Of Unification Occurred Over A 100 Year Period
The process of unification occurred over a 100 year period, and was spurred on by a number of
individuals, both Italians such as Cavour and Crispi and foreigners such as napoleon the III. There
were, however, different stages of unification throughout the entire process.
The actions of each key individual must be assessed within each stage they influenced and how their
actions affected unification in a positive or negative way.
The first stage of unification was 1800 to 1815, where Napoleon I was the primary mover. He made a
huge number of changes such as changing ruling dynasties , simplifying trade boundaries, and most
importantly, establishing his Code Napoleon as law. Mack Smith argues that these reforms made Italy

It can therefore be concluded that the advancements Napoleon made were only short term and he
intended to just create a satellite of France, and giving the Italians too much of a unification spirit
would have made them too strong. However, he did have a long term political significance; he for
political unity and inadvertently encouraged the Italians dislike of foreigners through his enforced
conscription policies, which encouraged a sense of nationalism for the first time.
The next stage was 1815 to 1849, involving primarily the Austrian Chancellor Prince Clemens von
Metternich and the Italian political idealist Giuseppe Mazzini.
They had an almost symbiotic relationship, ether justifying the others existence. This is argued by
Sarti who implies Mazzini and Metternich helped unification through their hatred of each other;
Mazzini served as the ideologist and Metternich the oppressor, each justified the other s involvement
in italy. Berkley says that there was truth in Metternich s thousand times reiterated assertion that he
was defending law and order because if Mazzini s revolutions had been successful, there would have
been bloodshed and utter anarchy . It is certainly

Both Logan and Joe wanted Janie to work too, however she didn t like the way they wanted her to

Slang Rehearsal
Out with the old in with the new , Today s generation slang continuously changes depending on a new
trend. I feel as if some words and phrases are praised for the wrong reaosn. In 2015 some words
should be retired because they are degrading, outdated, and highly unpleasant. The new slang the
twenty first century uses today are very degrading and highly disrespectful. The slang people uses
today are used to bring people down. For instances, thot , tricking , or contraire used to disrespect an
individual. The slang bossy should be banned because the word is inglorious and stop women having
confidence forcing authority. In The SPIN Interview: Kelis Talks Milkshake, Feminism, and

My Biggest Perspective Change
Have you ever been caught in a rush hour traffic moving at the speed of light? For a whole one year
during my CO OP I commuted to and fro Toronto on one of the busiest highway of North America and
it was no fun. I ve raced, tailgated, changed lanes without using indicators, ranted and seethed at slow
drivers and everything I could to save as little as five minutes to reach my destination. And I
considered myself a skillful driver at that time. Not knowing that the opposite might also be true if I
look at it from a different perspective. We usually tend to have a one sided opinion about certain
things until we experience the both sides of the story ourselves. This phenomenon of naïve realism
was well presented in the class along with different TED Talk videos to support the argument among
which the most prominent and thought provoking was the talk on Believing Strange Things by
Micheal Shermer.
Controversial topics have always sparked my interest and regardless of what opinion I have about
them, it gets my full attention. Like all the other intriguing videos presented in class, Michael Shermer
delivered his fifteen minutes presentation on the human perception of believing in strange things is
derived from our sub conscious mind of believing anything which will accepted by the masses. Before
coming to his main point, he presents a bad engineering idea such a drug detector, which costs around
$900 and only works 50% of the time. For some, it works 100% perfect 50% of the

The Characters Of Cujo Cujo
Based on the descriptions and events in this excerpt. I can infer that the title character, Cujo, has
turned rabid and he is out to look for blood. I can also infer that his eyes are red and watery with thick
substance leaking from it. Finally, I can infer that he has already killed his owner because he had mud
and blood all over him. This was all stated in paragraphs 10 and 11, The dog s eyes settled on hers.
They were red and rheumy. They were leaking some viscous substance. The dog seemed to be
weeping gummy tears. His tawny coat was caked and matted with mud and Blood. is that... All of this
evidence told me that Cujo is rabid and has already killed his owner.
Donna s actions and thoughts reveal that her character is very clumsy and when she gets frightened
she is unable to think and is unaware of what she is doing. In paragraph 13 it states, She couldn t seem
to move. No breath...There was no contact between her brain and her legs...Her hands were stupid
blocks of flesh south of her wrists with no feeling in them. Her urine went. She was unaware of it save
for some vague sensation of distant warmth. This tells me that when Donna saw the dog, Cujo, she
didn t know what to do and just stood there. Also, in paragraph 16 it states, She turned in a great
shambling drunk s pivot, slamming her lower leg against the Pinto s fender and sending a steely bolt
of pain up to her hip...She hit her crazybone and uttered a thin shriek of pain. Donna s actions tell me

What It Means To Understand The Purpose Of Life
they are designed to do, then how can they understand the Purpose of their mate or their marriage
when that time comes. I believe God connects a husband and wife together for His Purpose. God
created all of us with Purpose in mind. He knew us before we entered this world. In the book of
Jeremiah, God tells this prophet that He knew him before he was formed in the womb and that He set
him apart and ordained him as a prophet to the nations. This is true for us today. God created us for
Purpose. We are not here on earth to just exist from day to day. Without Purpose you will live a
meaningless life and possibly connect with the wrong mate that God did not intend for you to marry.

It is the reason in which God created you. Without Purpose, you can get lost in this world and lose
your way. An individual without Purpose is merely sleepwalking through life with their eyes open.
They will begin to be consumed with the mundane details of life. The joy and meaning they have will
start to evaporate as they are confronted with life s challenges. Having a clear idea of your Purpose in
life will keep you motivated and focused on the more important things. You tend to not be so focused
on your singleness when you have direction and understanding of your Purpose. For instance, once
you know what you are supposed to do with your life, you can make important decisions about where
to go to school, what to major in, the career you want to prosper in, the best companies to work for,
the best places to live, how to spend and invest finances, the kind of books and movies you will allow
to entertain you, the kind of friends you want in your life, the kind of mentors you desire and who you
would like to spend the rest of your love life with. Also, we must remember to acknowledge God
before we make life changing decisions. We have to trust that He knows best for our lives. The Bible
says it like this: Trust in the Lord with all

The Importance Of Learning In Supporting Teaching And...
A key factor through all the stages of PE is allowing pupils to progress through the steps whilst
developing their skills in order to widen their knowledge. This is why the role of the teacher is to
consider activities in terms of difficulty and quality and to give children opportunities to plan and
evaluate their own performance (Hopper et al, 2000, pg. 117). This illuminates the idea that
throughout the key stages, the difficulties of the tasks should be increased whilst allowing students to
focus on the key points of the skill being learnt.
Throughout their education, but in particular in the foundation stage, children will progress at different
rates (Chedzoy,1996, pg. 47) due to them being exposed to new skills and activities which ... Show

game like activity. By bringing the added element of competition to the lesson, allows for the children
to strive to be better than the other team, therefore enabling them to progress.
Another key factor is the self esteem of the pupils as Mawer (1995, pg. 121) promotes the idea that as
a teacher we can maintain a positive learning environment through the development of pupils self
esteem . Thus suggesting that if pupils have confidence within themselves then they will have a better

Reflection and Analysis of Chaconne from Partita in D...
My musical selection was Chaconne from Partita in D Minor by Johann Sebastian Bach, performed by
The Eroica Trio. I listened to this piece, lasting fourteen minutes and forty eight seconds, through the
online classical music library. This piece was composed in 1720 during the Baroque Era and exhibits
many features characteristic of Baroque music, which will be analyzed later in this paper. This
chaconne is considered to be one of the most intense pieces of music Bach ever wrote, according to
the La Jolla Music Society. In order to fully understand this piece a variety of information will be
presented including a synopsis of Bach s life, background on the piece, a listening chart for this
chaconne, the events occurring in society that impacted music and art in the Baroque Era and an
analysis of the composition with reference to typical Baroque musical characteristics.
In order to understand his music, it is important to overview Bach s life and the affect he had on the
musical realm. Music was the obvious career for Johann Sebastian Bach as he was born to a family of
musicians, extending back several generations. According to the book, A History of Baroque Music,
by George Beulow, No other composer had as unique a family lineage, which extended from the
sixteenth into the early nineteenth century, with more than fifty Bachs who were actively engaged in
the music profession (Beulow, 503). Johann s father was the town musician and taught him how to
play violin. At a

to satisfy consumers needs and wants. It may help the organisation to achieve their goals. The
evolution of marketing concept is from production orientation to sales orientation, continuously it

So, when all departments contribute together to create value for consumers, the process will become
more effective and efficient while the products quality will increase (Slater Narver March April 1994).
In addition, the employees should be treated as the assets of a company. This is because employees are
always the one who have interaction with the customers. So, some big and success organisation like
Walt Disney gives a staff training before they interact with customers (McChesney July 1997).
The statement shows market orientation focusing on customers is sufficient for business success . This
is not a statement that can be agreed by all marketers. Although customers will always be the main
focus for all company, but once a company did not pay attention with what their competitors do, and
confirm is the company interfunctional always going smoothly, the company can being success in
short term, but for a long term business, it will always facing some problem. For an example, Johnson
Johnson is a well known health care product. The successful reason of Johnson Johnson can be found
in their credo.
They care with their products quality but at the same time they also care about their cost to maintain
their price at a reasonable level. Besides, they also care about their employees. They make sure that
their employees working conditions are safe and clean; they respect them, and help their employees to

  • 2. Mexican American War Research Paper On April 25, 1846, the first shots of Mexican American War were fired during a skirmish near Rio Grande. Between 1846 and 1848, the war fought between two North American nations, the United States and Mexico. It began with a bullet, it then took lives, it ended with a treaty, and it made its mark on history s timeline. It was a defining event for both nations. By the time the war was over Mexico had lost nearly half of its territory. But Texas actually gained its independence from Mexico in 1836. The war between Mexico and the United States had begun because of the struggle over who would control Texas. But it was relatively united in refusing to recognize the independence of Texas. Its origin is traced to the Arabian Peninsula, and currently has an estimated 1.5 billion followers worldwide. The sacred texts that are associated with Islam is the Qur an and Allah is the Deity they pay homage to. Prayers are carried out right before sunrise, at midday, in midafternoon, right after dusk, and at nightfall, between an hour following dusk and midnight. Prayers are to be directed towards Mecca and should be performed in a state of ceremonial cleanliness, attained by either a bath or ceremonial cleansing. Pillar # 3 Pillar three is the giving of alms. This is in remembrance of one s all inclusive social duties to the public, to a representative of a local mosque, of the Islamic government or to a religious officer. The supreme court ruling of both cases show just how a constitutional government works and how judicial review is practiced. Because of this, many attempts are being made to promote self care in the industry, but not much progress has been made in measuring the need for teaching self care to counselors in training. • 7. Descriptive Essay Football That morning I had a really good feeling about today. That morning was a dry, and so humid you wouldn t believe it. The sun was shining bright and the clouds were gleaming with excitement. It was Thursday. My team called it Championship Thursday because we were fighting to win a national title in Myrtle Beach. As I arrived at the field for our first game which was the first game of bracket play. Yesterday was pool play. We played 6 pool play games and won them all so that put us in the number one seed. That s mean we had a pretty easy game ahead of us. As the day continued we one 2 more. We had a little break after the third game. Next game was what we were all dreaming of, the national championship game. It was time. I was nervous, out of my mind nervous. Everyone was, especially our coaches. When we stepped on the field I had a good feeling that we were gonna step off the field as national champions. After we got everything set up in our dugout we went to warm up. As we were hitting in the batting cages teams were coming up to us and saying how amazing we were and how bad they wanted us to win this game. This made us even more pumped to win. After we got back from the batting cages it was so packed with people and there were many softball and baseball teams there to watch the game. We had to take grounders and pop flies. Which we were doing really good. As I was warming up our number one pitcher I was watching the other team and wow did they look good. After, my team ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. Disadvantages Of Lesbian Art To group a subsection of artists under the umbrella term lesbian artists , is to do them and their art a disservice. Lesbian artists are just as varied in their work as any other group of artists. Possibly it is just easier for people to have labels so as to easily identify what they like or dislike. It seems as though for some, it has been a selling point or marketing tool, for better or worse. According to Sadie Lee in her essay for Outlooks, This means there exists a certain amount of tokenism where if someone were in need of a lesbian artist (for equal opportunity reasons or in an attempt to be alternative or controversial) my chances of being selected are rather good. She continues on to say that had she been viewed on her skills as an artist alone, and not her sexuality, she would not have been given the opportunities for exposure that she has had (Lee 124). So, is it imperative that we give a definitive label to it? No, but Harmony Hammond puts it eloquently when she states, I like to think of lesbian art as a braid with three strands, gender, sexuality, and art, though from time to time other strands, such as history or identity are woven in and out...a flexible rope of incredible strength and beauty (Hammond 10). Although it defies singular definition lesbian art is as fluid and dynamic as the groups it tries to encompass: women, lesbians, feminists, dykes, bisexuals, gender queer, and so on. The branch of Network forensics is relatively a newer branch of digital forensics, and it involves carefully analyzing the data that is flowing in a network to find any possible evidences of intrusion or theft. The information flow in a network is always dynamic in nature, and thus this branch of digital forensics needs to be proactive in its approach. One of the usage of this branch lies in the investigation of network data for any traffic that might seem anomalous in nature, for the purpose of detecting intrusions. The second usage lies in the area of law enforcement, where the evidence gathered by Network Forensics can be used as evidence in case of a crime. Mobile Device Forensics relates to data and evidence recovery from a mobile device, be it a mobile phone, PDA, tablet, GPS device, and so on. • 12. Essay about Romanticism in Frankenstein Having lived between 18th and 19th century, author Mary Shelley was greatly influenced by the intellectual movement of Romanticism. Since she was closely associated with many of the great minds of the Romantic Movement such as her husband Percy B. Shelley and Lord Byron, it is natural that her works would reflect the Romantic trends. Many label Shelley¡¯s most famous novel Frankenstein as the first Science Fiction novel in history because its plot contains the process of a scientist named Victor Frankenstein creating a living human being from dead body parts, but that is only a part of the entire novel. Frankenstein at first may seem to be promoting the ideas of Enlightenment with Walton exploring the North Pole and Frankenstein studying natural philosophy and trying to find the secret of life through the deductive reasoning of science. However, with Walton failing to explore the North Pole and Frankenstein¡¯s scientific creation spinning out of his control, Frankenstein emphasizes the theme of the danger of discovering knowledge with reason and science. Frankenstein devotes almost his entire life to the study of natural philosophy and the creation of the monster in eagerness to understand the secret of life, yet this act of creation eventually results in the destruction of everyone close to him and his ultimate isolation. Likewise, Walton attempts to surpass previous human explorations by navigating to reach the North Pole but eventually finds himself trapped between sheets of ice unable to reach his goal. Mary Shelley is conveying a message as a Romantic, with the characters of Walton and Frankenstein, that the thirst for knowledge and the attempt to explain life through science, both of which are valued during the Enlightenment movement, can be destructive. Early family formation during the colonial times was considered normal for Americans due to the ease of access on resources and land. In the United States, teenage pregnancy developed into a social problem through the progression of women s roles in society and lack of contraceptives which resulted to American citizens having to pay higher tax dollars in order for the government to financially support teen pregnancy and prevention programs. Therefore, the responsibilities that women took on during the colonial times presented many as a housewife to independent working women during World War II. Because of the change, women prioritized their financial needs over starting a family, leading the decline of family formation at an early age. Nonetheless, when men came back from war, the United States underwent a baby booming era from 1946 to 1964, so women, including teenage girls started families. Starting from the 1970s, America s employment rate increased causing many older women to stop forming families and work. Teenage girls, however, did not. Instead, the numbers for teen pregnancies skyrocketed to about 750,000. Through this came a second change that caused teenage childbearing to become an issue: Congress enacted Title X and welfare programs to help teen mothers, taxing taxpayers of America about 9.4 billion dollars yearly. The third change is the increasing amount of awareness and contraceptives provided to teenagers ever since the outburst in the 1960s. However, the beginning of the path towards true recognition is marked itself by the recognition of finitude or death. The very freedom from embeddedness in natural origins of which self consciousness is capable is intimately tied to its confrontation with the absolute Master, death. In this dialectical move, Hegel has articulated one of the most profound and paradoxical truths of human existence, namely that an awareness of death and finitude is the inception of man s potential differentiation of self from his natural origins and the beginning of man s self consciousness. Not only that: by the cunning of reason man s mortality is the vehicle through which natural Life redeems itself from its incarceration in itself. Thus, the very actualization of man s differentiation of self from nature which takes place in work is, as I shall show, a kind of internalization and transformation of that very finitude. Only as such, can self consciousness realize its true self. In the stages leading up to self consciousness, consciousness placed the locus of truth into that which it took to be other than itself. I believe God connects a husband and wife together for His Purpose. God created all of us with Purpose in mind. He knew us before we entered this world. In the book of Jeremiah, God tells this prophet that He knew him before he was formed in the womb and that He set him apart and ordained him as a prophet to the nations. This is true for us today. God created us for Purpose. We are not here on earth to just exist from day to day. Without Purpose you will live a meaningless life and possibly connect with the wrong mate that God did not intend for you to marry. As a Christian, it is important to understand that you were ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is the reason in which God created you. Without Purpose, you can get lost in this world and lose your way. An individual without Purpose is merely sleepwalking through life with their eyes open. They will begin to be consumed with the mundane details of life. The joy and meaning they have will start to evaporate as they are confronted with life s challenges. Having a clear idea of your Purpose in life will keep you motivated and focused on the more important things. You tend to not be so focused on your singleness when you have direction and understanding of your Purpose. For instance, once you know what you are supposed to do with your life, you can make important decisions about where to go to school, what to major in, the career you want to prosper in, the best companies to work for, the best places to live, how to spend and invest finances, the kind of books and movies you will allow to entertain you, the kind of friends you want in your life, the kind of mentors you desire and who you would like to spend the rest of your love life with. Also, we must remember to acknowledge God before we make life changing decisions. We have to trust that He knows best for our lives. The Bible says it like this: Trust in the Lord with all ... • 33. The Importance Of Learning In Supporting Teaching And... A key factor through all the stages of PE is allowing pupils to progress through the steps whilst developing their skills in order to widen their knowledge. This is why the role of the teacher is to consider activities in terms of difficulty and quality and to give children opportunities to plan and evaluate their own performance (Hopper et al, 2000, pg. 117). This illuminates the idea that throughout the key stages, the difficulties of the tasks should be increased whilst allowing students to focus on the key points of the skill being learnt. Throughout their education, but in particular in the foundation stage, children will progress at different rates (Chedzoy,1996, pg. 47) due to them being exposed to new skills and activities which ... One of which is competition as Griggs (2012, pg. 71) brings to our attention that games can provide excellent opportunities for pupils to work cooperatively and competitively emphasizing the importance of using games throughout the games curriculum, whether it be a full game or a simply game like activity. By bringing the added element of competition to the lesson, allows for the children to strive to be better than the other team, therefore enabling them to progress. Another key factor is the self esteem of the pupils as Mawer (1995, pg. 121) promotes the idea that as a teacher we can maintain a positive learning environment through the development of pupils self esteem . Thus suggesting that if pupils have confidence within themselves then they will have a better time of learning therefore aiding progression, due to the pupils believing that they can achieve great ... • 34. Reflection and Analysis of Chaconne from Partita in D... My musical selection was Chaconne from Partita in D Minor by Johann Sebastian Bach, performed by The Eroica Trio. I listened to this piece, lasting fourteen minutes and forty eight seconds, through the online classical music library. This piece was composed in 1720 during the Baroque Era and exhibits many features characteristic of Baroque music, which will be analyzed later in this paper. This chaconne is considered to be one of the most intense pieces of music Bach ever wrote, according to the La Jolla Music Society. In order to fully understand this piece a variety of information will be presented including a synopsis of Bach s life, background on the piece, a listening chart for this chaconne, the events occurring in society that impacted music and art in the Baroque Era and an analysis of the composition with reference to typical Baroque musical characteristics. In order to understand his music, it is important to overview Bach s life and the affect he had on the musical realm. Music was the obvious career for Johann Sebastian Bach as he was born to a family of musicians, extending back several generations. According to the book, A History of Baroque Music, by George Beulow, No other composer had as unique a family lineage, which extended from the sixteenth into the early nineteenth century, with more than fifty Bachs who were actively engaged in the music profession (Beulow, 503). Johann s father was the town musician and taught him how to play violin. At a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

So, when all departments contribute together to create value for consumers, the process will become more effective and efficient while the products quality will increase (Slater Narver March April 1994). In addition, the employees should be treated as the assets of a company. This is because employees are always the one who have interaction with the customers. So, some big and success organisation like Walt Disney gives a staff training before they interact with customers (McChesney July 1997). The statement shows market orientation focusing on customers is sufficient for business success . This is not a statement that can be agreed by all marketers. Although customers will always be the main focus for all company, but once a company did not pay attention with what their competitors do, and confirm is the company interfunctional always going smoothly, the company can being success in short term, but for a long term business, it will always facing some problem. For an example, Johnson Johnson is a well known health care product. The successful reason of Johnson Johnson can be found in their credo. They care with their products quality but at the same time they also care about their cost to maintain their price at a reasonable level. Besides, they also care about their employees. They make sure that their employees working conditions are safe and clean; they respect them, and help their employees to fulfil their family responsibilities ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
