Latina Women In American Films
Latina women have had roles in films since the silence era in the 1920s. However, their representation
and characteristics have constantly changed. Latina actresses originally portrayed characters that
simply fulfilled general and negative stereotypes about their ethnicity and culture. But during the Latin
Wave of the 1990s, Latina/o performers musicians, actors/actresses, dancers, etc. received more
prominent attention in American culture. Due to this newfound popularity, the status of the Latin
American woman evolved in the United States and Latina actress got to play more fulfilling parts. In
contemporary American films where a Latina woman is the protagonist, topics that have been
broached include the usage of Spanish, body types, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even though Latino/a actors and actresses have had increased participation in films over the decades,
majority of the films they were in devalued their culture. Italian actor Rudolph Valentino was one of
the first known Latin Lovers, which was a stereotype that all Latinos were incredibly passionate and
great in bed. Another film stereotype were Latino/a s portraying bad guys/thugs, which was to
insinuate that Latinos were cholos (a lower class Latin American who is in a gang) and could not be
civilized. Such films that portrayed Latinos as such were the 1979 film Boulevard Nights, which is
about a neighborhood gang war, and the 1988 film Stand and Deliver, which is about a high school
calculus teacher who tries to get the Latino students who are prone to dropout to do their homework.
Stereotypes involving Latina women were that they were either very sexual, the silent maid, or had a
spicy attitude. 2 It wasn t until the 1990s that there was genuine progress in representing different
aspects of Latino/a culture and people in films. The 1990s witnessed as a continuation of New
Hollywood shifts that amounted to increasing interest in casting and promoting a handful of African
American and Latina/o actors and potential stars. 3 Latina performers and actresses in particular were

Pynchon s Entropy
ENTROPY by Thomas PynchonSummary:Meatball Mulligan throws a lease breaking party at his
apartment in Washington, D.C. in early February of 1957. His guests are a colorful bunch, including
Sandor Rojas, an ex Hungarian Freedom fighter, and the avant garde Duke di Angelis quartet
comprised of Duke, Vincent, Krinkles and Paco who together perform an original piece in complete
silence. Saul, a neighbor of Mulligan s, comes in through the window after an argument with his wife
concerning communication theory and the tendency for noise to screw up your signal, making for
disorganization in the circuit. The party degenerates during the course of the story into a chaotic mess:

Pynchon also takes the old adage Write what you know and posits an addition to the advice: So as a
corollary to writing about what we know, maybe we should add getting familiar with our ignorance
and the possibilities therein for ruining a good story. In his discussion of this work, Pynchon takes
much care in attempting to explain the significance of the notion of entropy as he chose to portray it in
his story as well as his general take on the concept. [For more information on the concept of entropy,
click on Entropy.] Pynchon is the first to admit, however, that entropy is a difficult concept to get one
s head around: he writes, Since I wrote this story I have kept trying to understand entropy, but my
grasp becomes less sure the more I read. He beckons us to research the subject and come up with an
understanding of it on our own, for, like Callisto, Pynchon seems to feel quite strongly that entropy is
a concept metaphorically applicable to many aspects of life. Pynchon credits his major influences in
the formulation of Entropy as Henry Adams and Norbert Wiener, author of Cybernetics and the
Human Use of Human Beings. He explains that the `theme of the story is mostly derivative of what
these two men had to say. Commentary: Entropy is extremely

America Revealed The Food Machine
Modern day farming has transformed from the farming process of last century. Instead of farmers
producing for their families, farmers are now similar to input/output managers supplying massive
manufacturers that feed the country.
1. This change in productivity has turned the American food business into an assembly line style
industry. The elements that feed this productivity increase are the same as the factors found in the text
(Stevenson, Page 60). The industry has standardized their methods, increased their capital, improved
quality, put supportive management in place, and developed new technologies. For example, the beef
market is very large in this country. In order

Beyonce s Pretty Hurts
The Beauty Within
The messages of Beyonce s Pretty Hurts and Christina Aguilera s Beautiful , were both astonishing.
The messages of the songs are often overlooked because of the images the artists portray on society.
The two songs contained an ample amount of information to take away, and to use in everyday life.
The two songs opened my eyes to how people who are different feel, and how they can be beautiful in
their own way, even if it hurts them in the long run. The two messages should be able to touch
anybody, and inspire people to change, no matter what or who you are.
The two songs, Pretty Hurts by Beyonce Knowles, and Beautiful by Christina Aguilera, both have
alluring messages. The two artists helped me realize how people who ... Show more content on

the artists are trying to say that when you try to alter yourself to be someone you are not, you are
making yourself more empty than you already feel that you are. I also think that their tone is
concerned, because they feel as if people feel as if there is something wrong with them, when in all
reality, they have the same amount of beauty as anyone else, inside and out. I also think that the two
artists are trying to say that everyone has insecurities, and despite our insecurities we are all still
beautiful. I also think the message they are trying to convey is that no matter what society says, never
be afraid to be you. My text evidence is in Christina Aguilera s Beautiful where

How Does Shakespeare Make A Good Character In Romeo And...
To have a good play their must be good characters. Throughout Romeo and Juliet, the characters make
choices and decisions to make the plot more interesting. In Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet,
Shakespeare uses juxtaposition, paradoxes, and oxymoron to make his characters more complex and
meaningful in their actions and their personality
Juliet, the daughter of Lord and Lady Capulet, is sheltered by her family, making her naive. Because
Juliet does not know much about people, she only judges people from what she sees on the outside.
Juliet says, Was ever book containing such vile matter/ so fairly bound? (3.2.83 84). Since Juliet is so
kept away from most of society, she has bad judgement of people from lack of experience. Romeo, in
her eyes, is a handsome man who has been corrupted because he has killed her cousin Tybalt, ... Show

types of language constantly, to make the play more interesting. The complex characters in any play

Mexico, in July 1947 the United States government recovered a crashed UFO and its extraterrestrial
occupants. This was referred to as the Roswell Incident and the U.S. military had covered the issue up
quickly. The original story in the eyes of non UFO buffs for this conspiracy is that on the fourth of
July weekend 1947 a rancher William Brazel reported to the sheriff that he recover the remains of one

The art of animation was first introduced as early as the 1900 s. Since technology did not allow for
advanced types of animation to be produced, it was extremely limited in its early days. One of the first
people to gain popularity over their animation films was Walt Disney, who was an important influence
on Burton s film making. Moreover, in Corpse Bride, Burton and his crew provide a scene very
similar to Disney s 1929 s short film The Skeleton Dance. Special choreography was taken
particularly from the short and was incorporated into Corpse Bride giving it an old fashioned, but
enjoyable touch. Even though Disney s family friendly cartoons served as an enormous influence on
Burton s decision to start producing children s animation films, Claymation is the true type of
animation Burton uses in Corpse Bride. Claymation is a form of animation using special techniques to
snap different frames at once to allow it to produce an animated effect called slow motion animation.
Many contemporary animators adhere to Claymation due to its unique and realistic characteristics.
Films that use Claymation animation include modern movies such as Coraline (2009) or even older

In this report I will be researching and reporting on the key features of the World Wide Webs
development and analysing the aspects of what made up the World Wide Web. The main subjects will
be the WWW (World Wide Web), HTML5, CSS3/ CSS box model and JavaScript including document

Milestones in the history of the WWW
The World Wide Web was created in March 1989 by Tim Berners Lee a British scientist working at
CERN ( The Birth of the Web | CERN ). CERN is an acronym of the French phrase Conseil Européen

World Wide Web was created to share information between scientist and institutes worldwide. The
World Wide Web is a series of computer networks interconnected by Coaxial cable or fibre optic
cables spanning underground and across the oceans. Tim Berners Lee crated his first proposal for the

Pan s Labyrinth Analysis Essay
Pan s Labyrinth Award winning filmmaker Guillermo Del Toro delivers a unique, richly imagined epic
with Pan s Labyrinth released in 2006, a gothic fairy tale set against the postwar repression of Franco s
Spain. Del Toro s sixth and most ambitious film, Pan s Labyrinth harnesses the formal characteristics
of classic folklore to a 20th Century period. Del Toro portrays a child as the key character, to
communicate that children minds are not cemented. Children avoid reality through the subconscious
imagination which is untainted by a grown up person, so through a point of an innocent child more is
captured. The film showcases what the imagination can do as a means of escape to comfort the

The language of the film is in Spanish, adding to the enmity as a foreign language to English speakers.
The use of subtitles draws in the audience s attention making them cling on to every word being said
because of the intensity of the movie. There is also a lot of disturbing visual effects in the pan s
labyrinth which also captures the audiences attention such as the scene where Captain Vidal must
stitch his own cheek sliced open from the mouth adds to the realism of the film, leaving the audience
to squirm in their senses, imagining the pain. The use of close ups and tracking shots emphasize the
hysterical, tragic mood of the story. This causes the audience to feel maudlin and affected. An example
is the frame of a close up high angled shot when we see Captain Vidal shoot Ofelia. We realize the
gravity of the crime, watching Ofelia fall to the cold stone floor as her blood drops down the entrance
of the Underworld realm. The uses foreshadowing by Del Toro also plays in as a technique in
depicting a predictive or predetermined conclusion for the protagonist and what is in store for her later
on in the movie. In one scene when her mother is on the bed and the baby starts kicking she tells
Ofelia to recite a fable to her unborn brother to calm him down, her story is about pain and loss and
the reward in the end granted be eternal life. The fable she tells foreshadows the imagination she has
for hardships she faces in reality and her conclusion

Importance Of Writing Reflection
When I had signed up for this class, I thought it was going to be similar to a humanities course. I
thought that we would be learning about how journaling has evolved and various ways to journal. As
the class progressed, I found it to be more of an art than a humanities class. When this reality did not
match my expectation, I was disappointed. I had to challenge myself to get the most out of this course
by changing my attitude and adjusting my perspective.
As an art class, this would have been an excellent idea and well executed. Being able to learn about
different materials, binding techniques, and adhesives were helpful in the creation of journals, but it
was not what I had expected. One thing that stands out to me was the research paper, it just did not
seem to fit into the class very well. Most of the students did not know how to use Chicago Style
referencing properly and there was not any class time allotted to learning it nor to working on the
essays. It seemed to be used to check a box rather than to help our understanding. I think that this
essay would have fit into the course much better if we had been spending time in class learning about
various historical journalists and how their work impacted the region in which it was created. It just
did not seem as though our homework matched our class work, so I was a little thrown off. This
imbalance was especially apparent because the room was deemed technology free, so we could not
even work on our essays while in class.

Their relationship deteriorated when a group of Pawnee warriors marched towards the Sioux village
with plan of wiping out the entire tribe. Neither was it a war for territory nor was it for riches nor to
make men free but to preserve food stores that would help Sioux tribe make it through the winter. It
was also a war to protect the lives of women and children, once and forever. On the other hand,
recalling that Stands With A Fist is a white woman, at a very young age, the aggressive, cold blooded
Pawnee tribe slaughtered her entire family cruelly, and Kicking Bird then adopted her later on.
Besides that, Timmons, the wagon driver who brought Dunbar to Fort Sedgwick, was also killed and
have his head scalped as war trophy by the Pawnee warriors while he was traveling back to Fort Hays.
Albeit it is unclear why the Pawnee warriors slaughtered her entire family or Timmons, it certainly
does reflect on the poor relationship between the English and the Pawnee tribe. As compared to the
Pawnee tribe, the Sioux was comparatively more human and less cold

The s Presence Of Latin America
Hezbollah s presence in Latin America is growing and the organization remains the premiere terrorist
organization in the world. Douglas Farah
Iran s use of Hezbollah as a proxy is much akin to China using North Korea, however, the former is
much more in stride with one another than the latter. It is said that where Iran goes, Hezbollah is not
far behind.
In order to run an international terrorist organization you need money. Despite receiving the majority
of funding from Iran, Hezbollah began working in Latin America in the mid 1980s. Once established
in a near lawless region along the tri border area of Brazil, Argentina, and Paraguay, Hezbollah began

I agree, the enemy of my enemy is my friend...but that equilateral triangle can be turned on any side.
Hopefully all muslim parties in the region put aside their differences and turn towards the United
States and think the same thing. Yes, the US is supporting Iranian forces in Iraq and the Free Syrian
Army in the fight against ISIS but for how long and to what end? If and when ISIS is eliminated, then
what? Will the US cut ties the way we did after the Russians pulled out of Afghanistan? Who do we

region but, as you stated above, we are helping the Shia muslims fight back. How will this effect

The Law Of Comparative Advantage
RICARDO proved in 1817 that when every countries specialized in the element where they have the
comparative advantage, and then trades those element, all countries are better off. This theory called
the law of comparative advantage became the primary reason for international trade. Now a days
MNC are the primary actors of international trade, and the bargaining model that they use with
countries government can appear as a practical implementation of the law of comparative advantage.
In fact Dunning, J. H. (2000) estimate that competitive advantage which is a type of comparative
advantage is at the heart of company motivation and ability to operate internationally as an MNC.
Besides Ramamurti, R. (2001) suggest that the traditional bargaining model is based on comparative
advantage that the MNC and state have respectively. The bargaining process would then be the
decision process through which each party express which comparative advantage would be traded.
The MNC can for example trade its technology for the accesses to natural resource that the countries
government possess. Ramamurti (2001) also emphasize the point that it became obvious that the
previous process is only a part of the actual bargain and that another part of the bargain is operated at a
countries level (between host and home country), this step actually allow and favors international
trade between those countries, but at the hour of the liberalization the actual trade would be conducted
by MNC. As an example

Lukashenko: Political Control Alexander Lukashenko was nominated in 1994 as Belarus first
President. His presidential term should have lasted five years, but in 1996, he extended his term to
2001 with a referendum. He won an additional five years in the 2001 election, which Western
observers have called undemocratic (BBC News, 2010, para. 15). Yet another referendum in 2004
lifted the two year rule, which allowed him to run again in 2006. There was considerable outrage
when he won the 2006 election with over 80% of the votes. Lukashenko is very controlling and went
to great lengths to prevent losing the election. Lukashenko denied the opposition access to state owned
media so they could not advertise or campaign against him. In 2004, he even went so far as to send his
biggest potential rival to jail (About.com, 2010: para. 2). After his 2006 landslide win, people became
very angry and began protesting. About 10,000 people braved a heavy snow storm, freezing
temperatures and threat of government reprisals to show their support for the opposition (BBC News,
2006: para. 7). They called Lukashenko s victory a complete farce and demanded new, honest

Los Angeles Five Themes Of Geography
Los Angeles is the biggest city in the southwestern part of the state of California. Every city has the
five themes of geography, which are location, place, human environment interaction, region and

said, location and place are not the same thing when geography is involved. For example, the place for

winters bring rain instead of snow. Also, the languages that are mostly spoken there are English and

Essay 1 Coming of Age
The Coming of Age The coming of age is an ethos differing on a wide spectrum (cross cultural,
spiritual, moral, physical, inter alia), which in a nutshell refers to the transition of a child into
adolescence or, as some countries refer, adulthood. It lacks the standard of generality adhered by
humanity in common. But that notwithstanding, the salient essences of coming of age more or less
approximates it welcomes independence, braveness, physical maturity, and concomitant freedom in
decision making and an overall sense of maturity. One perspective of a coming of age can be seen by

It is submitted that Vasilisa s coming of age is better while Jing Mei is less desirable. Vasilisa reflected
a girl s triumphant journey towards being a woman in order to be freed from oppression. Her
subsequent acts that made her prevail against her antagonists were well justified and represented as
perfect examples of poetic justice. Two Kinds reflected a somewhat different representation of
womanhood wherein rebelliousness is attached. Jing Mei s mother was not hostile and only wanted
what was best for her daughter, nothing more. The only mistake on the mother s part is that she has
overdone it (going to the extent where Jig Mei starts to feel unhappy about herself) and neglected the
possible uniqueness of her daughter. This is something common at status quo where some families
suffer the strain between a parent (or parents) and a child whose concomitant psychological state
brought about by a false sense of I am already a grown up sows costly conflicts. For this fact, it is
submitted that Jing Mei s coming of age is insufficient. But is also noteworthy to state that Jing Mai
subsequently embraced her mother s desire, it is just unfortunate that it came a little bit too late (when
her mother was already

Perforated Peptic Ulcer Essay
Perforated Peptic Ulcer Disease: A Review of History and Treatment Abstract In the last one hundred
years much has been written on peptic ulcer disease and the treatment options for one of its most
common complications: perforation. Peptic ulcer disease including both gastric and duodenal ulcer
form a substantial part of patients seeking surgical opinion world wide, The reason for reviewing the
literature was evaluating most common ideas on how to treat perforated peptic ulcers (PPU) in
general, opinions on conservative treatment and surgical treatment and summarizing ideas about
necessary pre , per and postoperative proceedings. The concept of acid in peptic ulcer disease, which
was the basis of treatment of peptic ulcer was revolutionized by the discovery of H2 receptor
antagonists, that led to the principle of acid suppression therapy for duodenal ulcer which followed
decades of preference ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The evolution of knowledge regarding etiopathogenesis of peptic acid disease from acid driven
disease to an infectious disease has opened up this topic for various studies to find the best possible
options for management of this disease. The discovery of Helicobacter pylori has evinced great
interest in the role played by this microbe. The eradication of this organism has been found to be of
paramount importance to minimize the complications of peptic ulcers. The management of peptic
ulcer disease and its complications remain a challenge. In addition, non steroidal anti inflammatory
drugs (NSAIDs), low dose aspirin, smoking, excessive alcohol use, emotional stress and psychosocial
factors are increasingly important causes of ulcers and their complications even in H. pylori negative
patients. Other rare causes of peptic ulcer disease in the absence of H. pylori, NSAIDs, and aspirin

Noodles And Company Problem Analysis
Introduction
Noodles and Company, a fast casual dining restaurant, whose founder is Aaron Kennedy. Aaron
thought of the idea in 1993 while eating at an Asian noodle diner in NYC. He opened his first
restaurant in Boulder, Colorado. It was opened on October third, 1995. Noodles and Company was not
his start though, he has also worked for Oscar Meyer, Pepsi, and Cato Gobe.
Other persons that played significant roles include President and Co CEO, Ken Keyme; Chief
Financial Officer/EVP, Mary Beth Lewis; COO, Joe Serafin; Executive Chef, Ross Kamens; and
Chief Development Officer/EVP, Thomas Weigand. Many of these people helped in the development
of Noodles and Company, and helped the company begin to grow in the late 1990 s.
Problem Analysis
First off, the competition faced by Noodles and Company is quite brutal. This competition includes
but is not limited to, Chipotle and Cheese Cake Factory. Chipotle offers consumers good quality
Mexican food, for an affordable price. This draws away consumers who would be normally eating at
an Noodles and Company. Cheese Cake Factory hurts Noodles and Company even more so, because
they offer larger variety in their menu. Cheese Cake Factory s menu spans from a variety of different
cultures. Cheese Cake Factory also has a specialty item, cheese cake. This item pulls the attention of
consumers.
Secondly, you shouldn t open thirty two new operations in the next year, solely because you have the
capital to do so. With competition as it is,

You would have thought the world would look different when it ends, yet when me and Juliet went

everyone minding themselves, accelerating and pushing others so they could salvage their soulless

Precisely at this instant, the door of our room opened briefly, and with a sigh, the angel leaped off the

She locked up the doors once more and left before I could even move to reach the handle.
I was alone for the day, slumbering most of the time and the remnant was solely having multiple
thoughts crossing my mind, about my encounter with complete grace, Wondering about her name.
No matter who she is, she would as yet be a flawless flower, one of a kind. This was the sort of
thoughts I had during my short meeting with the room.

Did you hear that?
Juliet straightened in the bench and scanned the landscape around us.
By now, all of the refugees withdrawned to their safe havens, and the surface seemed to look like a

The only thing I could hear was papers rattling in the wind.
Yes, I think so , I said.
Then I heard it. It was a scream carried towards us in the wind.

Nature vs. Nurture Essay
Different personality traits make us who we are today. There are many factors to our personalities and
each aspect illustrates a bigger picture of who we are and how we came to be. Openness to experience
is a factor of the Five Factor Model (FFM) that describes my personality and is an essential part of
who I am in this society. Openness utilizes active imagination, attentiveness to inner feelings,
intellectual curiosity, interest in variety, and interest in aesthetics. It is used to display a general
appreciation for creative ideas, imaginations, and the arts. Due to a sufficient amount of psychometric

it is apparent that is in them that they are open to experience. Ever since I was five, I have played the

Another prime example of the nature quality of openness is illustrated through my twin cousins. I have

Health Issues In The Black Community Essay
The Black community s ears are attuned to the sounds of the salon the drone of clippers, scissors snick
snipping locks of hair, gossiping voices muffled by the hum of a hooded dryer. But Chicagoans might
hear something new as they sit in the salon chair: medical advice. Soon, salon and barbershop patrons
may get educated about kidney health as they wait on their braids, curls and fades. Focusing on the
salon as a cornerstone of the Black community, the National Kidney Foundation of Illinois is

issues of chronic kidney disease, hypertension and diabetes, all of which disproportionately affect the

of the Black community have been reticent to participate, said Regina White, Community Health

Izanami Creation Story
One creation story says that long ago, two gods named Izanagi and Izanami were commanded by the
primal gods to make and solidify the land of Japan. The two gods then threw a spear into the sea. The
mud that dripped from the spear became an island, and there, Izanagi and Izanami built a palace and
married each other. Over time, Izanami gave birth to the islands of Japan and many deities, but she
died giving birth to her last one, who was a fire god. Angry, Izanagi beheaded his son and followed
Izanami to Yomi, the Land of the Dead, urging her to return back with him. Izanami warned him not to
look at her, and went to consult with the gods of Yomi. Growing impatient after waiting, Izanagi
entered into the palace of the gods of Yomi, and saw Izanami. Izanagi fled from Izanami, only
escaping by covering the entrance to Yomi with a large boulder. After, he went to river to purify

  • 2. Latina Women In American Films Latina women have had roles in films since the silence era in the 1920s. However, their representation and characteristics have constantly changed. Latina actresses originally portrayed characters that simply fulfilled general and negative stereotypes about their ethnicity and culture. But during the Latin Wave of the 1990s, Latina/o performers musicians, actors/actresses, dancers, etc. received more prominent attention in American culture. Due to this newfound popularity, the status of the Latin American woman evolved in the United States and Latina actress got to play more fulfilling parts. In contemporary American films where a Latina woman is the protagonist, topics that have been broached include the usage of Spanish, body types, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Even though Latino/a actors and actresses have had increased participation in films over the decades, majority of the films they were in devalued their culture. Italian actor Rudolph Valentino was one of the first known Latin Lovers, which was a stereotype that all Latinos were incredibly passionate and great in bed. Another film stereotype were Latino/a s portraying bad guys/thugs, which was to insinuate that Latinos were cholos (a lower class Latin American who is in a gang) and could not be civilized. Such films that portrayed Latinos as such were the 1979 film Boulevard Nights, which is about a neighborhood gang war, and the 1988 film Stand and Deliver, which is about a high school calculus teacher who tries to get the Latino students who are prone to dropout to do their homework. Stereotypes involving Latina women were that they were either very sexual, the silent maid, or had a spicy attitude. 2 It wasn t until the 1990s that there was genuine progress in representing different aspects of Latino/a culture and people in films. The 1990s witnessed as a continuation of New Hollywood shifts that amounted to increasing interest in casting and promoting a handful of African American and Latina/o actors and potential stars. 3 Latina performers and actresses in particular were propelled into the ... • 3. Pynchon s Entropy ENTROPY by Thomas PynchonSummary:Meatball Mulligan throws a lease breaking party at his apartment in Washington, D.C. in early February of 1957. His guests are a colorful bunch, including Sandor Rojas, an ex Hungarian Freedom fighter, and the avant garde Duke di Angelis quartet comprised of Duke, Vincent, Krinkles and Paco who together perform an original piece in complete silence. Saul, a neighbor of Mulligan s, comes in through the window after an argument with his wife concerning communication theory and the tendency for noise to screw up your signal, making for disorganization in the circuit. The party degenerates during the course of the story into a chaotic mess: more guests arrive with more booze, drunken Navymen barge in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Pynchon also takes the old adage Write what you know and posits an addition to the advice: So as a corollary to writing about what we know, maybe we should add getting familiar with our ignorance and the possibilities therein for ruining a good story. In his discussion of this work, Pynchon takes much care in attempting to explain the significance of the notion of entropy as he chose to portray it in his story as well as his general take on the concept. [For more information on the concept of entropy, click on Entropy.] Pynchon is the first to admit, however, that entropy is a difficult concept to get one s head around: he writes, Since I wrote this story I have kept trying to understand entropy, but my grasp becomes less sure the more I read. He beckons us to research the subject and come up with an understanding of it on our own, for, like Callisto, Pynchon seems to feel quite strongly that entropy is a concept metaphorically applicable to many aspects of life. Pynchon credits his major influences in the formulation of Entropy as Henry Adams and Norbert Wiener, author of Cybernetics and the Human Use of Human Beings. He explains that the `theme of the story is mostly derivative of what these two men had to say. Commentary: Entropy is extremely ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Instead of farmers producing for their families, farmers are now similar to input/output managers supplying massive manufacturers that feed the country. 1. This change in productivity has turned the American food business into an assembly line style industry. The elements that feed this productivity increase are the same as the factors found in the text (Stevenson, Page 60). The industry has standardized their methods, increased their capital, improved quality, put supportive management in place, and developed new technologies. The messages of the songs are often overlooked because of the images the artists portray on society. The two songs contained an ample amount of information to take away, and to use in everyday life. The two songs opened my eyes to how people who are different feel, and how they can be beautiful in their own way, even if it hurts them in the long run. The two messages should be able to touch anybody, and inspire people to change, no matter what or who you are. The two songs, Pretty Hurts by Beyonce Knowles, and Beautiful by Christina Aguilera, both have alluring messages. The two artists helped me realize how people who ... I feel like both of the artists are trying to say that when you try to alter yourself to be someone you are not, you are making yourself more empty than you already feel that you are. I also think that their tone is concerned, because they feel as if people feel as if there is something wrong with them, when in all reality, they have the same amount of beauty as anyone else, inside and out. I also think that the two artists are trying to say that everyone has insecurities, and despite our insecurities we are all still beautiful. I also think the message they are trying to convey is that no matter what society says, never be afraid to be you. My text evidence is in Christina Aguilera s Beautiful where ... When this reality did not match my expectation, I was disappointed. I had to challenge myself to get the most out of this course by changing my attitude and adjusting my perspective. As an art class, this would have been an excellent idea and well executed. Being able to learn about different materials, binding techniques, and adhesives were helpful in the creation of journals, but it was not what I had expected. One thing that stands out to me was the research paper, it just did not seem to fit into the class very well. Most of the students did not know how to use Chicago Style referencing properly and there was not any class time allotted to learning it nor to working on the essays. It seemed to be used to check a box rather than to help our understanding. I think that this essay would have fit into the course much better if we had been spending time in class learning about various historical journalists and how their work impacted the region in which it was created. This imbalance was especially apparent because the room was deemed technology free, so we could not even work on our essays while in class. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Health Issues In The Black Community Essay The Black community s ears are attuned to the sounds of the salon the drone of clippers, scissors snick snipping locks of hair, gossiping voices muffled by the hum of a hooded dryer.
