Alligator Research Paper
Alligator Man There are many things you can do with zoology, you can work in the zoo with basically
all animals or you can study to work with one that you would like to work with specifically. In this
case I would like to work with alligators. They are beautiful creatures to me and they are just
extremely fascinating. Alligators are really cool to me and by the end of this paper I think that you
might be as fascinated towards them as I am. Alligators can bite 13,172 Newton s or 2960 pounds of
force, close to a t rex. One of the most powerful bites ever recorded on any live animal in the world,
that s scary! Alligators can climb trees, fences, and anything that is in its way that has an incline like
fences with holes like chain link.
When you are working to be a Zoologist you will need to know the responsibilities of being one, and
many other things. When you are a zoologist you will sometimes work long hours overtime and
maybe at night most of the time. Especially if you work with nocturnal animals! Alligators are
nocturnal animals so in this case I will be working at night a lot. Fieldwork can be very intense, and

If you want to be like me for instance catch alligators, and study them then release them back in the
same spot, or a farm for alligators you will need to know some stuff like health hazards, and
experience is a real key thing. Some health hazards are getting bit, death, and broken bones, and they
all have to do with teeth. So exciting and fun right! Some things that i would consider is to have more
experience in an/or a habitat that is similar to the ones the reptile would live in. you would want to
have more hands on time with the alligator or the animal you would like to work with or you can work
with them all. Some More health hazards are falling off the boat or something s like trying to grab an

How Did The Industrial Revolution Dbq
Since the beginning of man, the human race has gone through many changes throughout history. One
of the most significant and critical changes was the Industrial Revolution of Great Britain.
Characterized by the development of new manufacturing processes, the Industrial Revolution was a
period between the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries that spurred extensive changes in almost every
aspect of society. These changes stimulated a major transformation in the way of life and created a
modern urban society based on industrial manufacturing and not agricultural production. The
Industrial Revolution debuted in England because of changes in the textile industry and agriculture
leading to a more stable economic platform, an ever increasing demand for coal, and international
success in the trading market, resulting in the development and improvement of daily ... Show more

Initially, charcoal and wood were used a fuel source, but as those resources became scarce, coal
became a necessity. As shown in Document 1, England was fortunate enough to have a readily
available coal supply that other countries in Europe were not able to have. As England became
industrialized, more coal was needed to fuel steam engines and furnaces. The development of factories
and the improvement of the steam engine also increased the demand for coal. As a result, coal mines
that were once mined at the surface, now got deeper and deeper, and there was too much water to
safely get more coal. When the Newcomen engine was put into use at the coal mines, coal was put
into the steam engine to pump more coal out. Similarly almost every other piece of technology in that
time period used coal as the main fuel source so the need for coal skyrocketed. Document 4 explains
how England had the natural conditions necessary to succeed such as coal, which is a major reason the
Industrial Revolution started in England and not in any other

The History of Heineken
The history of Heineken
The Heineken family entered the beer business in 1864, when Gerard Adriaan Heineken bought a
brewery in the heart of Amsterdam. Over the past 140 years, three generations of the Heineken family
have built and expanded the brand and the company in Europe and around the world. It is thanks to
the leadership of Gerard, Henry and Alfred Heineken that Heineken is one of the world s leading
brewing groups. Today Charlene de CarvalhoHeineken is delegate member of the Board of directors
of Heineken Holding N.V. 1864 22 year old businessman Gerard Adriaan Heineken purchases the The

1894 The end of an epoch: despite master brewer Feltmann s hopes for his own son to take the
position, J.D.A. Petersen becomes the new director. He later marries Gerard s widow Mary Tindal,
becoming stepfather of the eight year old Henry Pierre Heineken. 1899 The barrel makers submit a
request for a wage increase, marking the beginning of a long process of workers rights negotiations.
As the business consolidates its hold on markets, employers come under increasing pressure from
workers demanding explicit agreements and better treatment. Petersen resists pressure from old style
managers and strives for dialogue, which ultimately results in the first collective labour agreements.

1900 Heineken beer is honoured with a special Jury Prize in Paris. Sales of beer brewed under
Heineken s auspices increase to 200,000 hectolitres. 1901 The year sees the first major strike and call
for a boycott by workers. Negotiations result in a rise in the minimum wage and pay for overtime.
1904 A day of rest on Sunday is introduced. 1909 The first collective bargaining agreements are

workers no longer receive four free litres of beer a week. Henry Heineken comes of age and takes over
the helm. He and his team represent a new generation of leaders. With both academic credentials and
practical experience, they pioneer a new management style: socially aware and outward looking. 1912

Amazon Competitive Advantage
For Amazon to maintain a competitive advantage within the marketplace, Amazon has to focus on
remaining a convenient option for consumers. They need to infiltrate their customers digital
environment. I would suggest that Amazon focus on three things: Strategic Acquisitions and
Partnerships, Fulfillment Center Expansion, and Forward Vertical Integration.
Beyond the highly anticipated package delivery drones and the cashier free grocery stores of Amazon,
there are numerous business segments that help Amazon remain as one of the largest online e
commerce marketplaces. Amazon has set up an empire that has enabled it to continue with highly
lucrative strategies and business opportunities that continually push it forward. Amazon is at the
beginning of an investment cycle, one of Morgan Stanley s financial analysts remarked and also stated
unclear how long this cycle is expected to last.
One of the biggest questions that frequents Amazon is how can Amazon make sure that the growth
potential remains in line with the founding principles and objectives? A few of the more important
pieces of criteria for evaluation include: Growth, consistency with the marketplace, consistency with
the strategy of Amazon and Amazon s shareholders and short term and long term profitability.
Amazon certainly has grand ambitions and is wanting to bring more to its end users than just being
one of the largest online marketplaces. Amazon s second quarter 2017 sales rose 25% to $38 billion.

The Impact Of Federalism
Federalism can be said to be the defining feature of all forms of American politics. Even as a literary
characteristic feature, America was the first nation to adopt federalism as a concept. Federalism is a
system of government whereby political power is divided between a national government and other
smaller political constituents such as states (Platt, 2014). Federalism, although not mentioned exactly
in the constitution, was supposed to be a concept that addressed the errors of the confederation (Platt,
2014). It was also supposed to be the lay the groundwork for what the future of American politics by

Another example of this would be the election and in particular, the Electoral College. The system of
the Electoral College is one that portrays federalism i.e. share of power between state and national
government. The Constitution provides the framework of the system. Federal statutes stipulate aspects
of the process and give directions to states regarding the time of the election and certification of the
electoral vote. Federal statutes also give directions to Congress concerning the counting of the
electoral vote, and they provide a process for objections to the vote. Since each state is important
because it has to conduct its own election at the same time with other states, the laws of each state
specify the time and place of the meeting of the electors as well as other election provisions. Together,
these two governments, together with the constitution, create the Electoral College system (Edwin C.
Kisiel, III, page 12 13). Since laws at both the national as well as the state level govern the Electoral
College, it can be said that its foundation is rooted in

Romanticism, By Charles Baudelaire
Romanticism is an artistic revolt that originated in Europe in the 18th century. It rejected the
rationalism, logical thinking, and societal norms associated with the Age of Enlightenment. Rather, it
embraced ideals that came out of the French Revolution. The works of art focused on promoting free
thinking and provoking feeling from its viewers. To further explain Romanticism, poet and critic
Charles Baudelaire once wrote that romanticism is precisely situated neither in choice of subject nor in
exact truth, but in way of feeling. Various paintings throughout the 18th and 19th century helped to
define this time in art history. During the Romanticism era, it was through the emphasis on emotion,
freedom, and the everyday life that the Romantic principles of the sublime and the picturesque were
expressed. One of the various themes present in Romanticism is emotion. A major part of the
Romanticism movement was placing focus on emotion as opposed to reason. In paintings where a
central theme is emotion, artists use the sublimity and picturesque aspects of nature to symbolize
feeling or convey a narrative. In The Lady of Shalott (1888) by John William Waterhouse, the subject
of the painting is a woman, sitting alone in a boat. It takes inspiration from a scene from a poem of the
same name by Alfred, Lord Tennyson. The poem tells the story of the young woman and her
unrequited love for Sir Lancelot. Even though the focus of the image is the sorrowful woman, the

The recent 2007 2009 global financial crisis has led to series of failures of many conventional banks
throughout the world. Furthermore, some empirical researches have evidenced the superiority of
Islamic banks performance over its conventional counterparts during the crisis period (Hasan Dridi
2010; Parashar Venkatesh 2010). These led to increase in global attention towards stability of Islamic
banking system.
Despite of increased attention on Islamic banks, recent studies have evidenced mixed result on the
stability of Islamic banks over its conventional counterparts (Belouafi et al. 2013; Kassim Abd. Majid
2010; Rokhim Gamaginta 2009; Bourkhis Nabi 2013). Thus, indicates that there is non consensus on
the stability of Islamic banks over its conventional counterparts.
Bank stability during the recent 2007 2009 global financial crisis has been studied from various
perspectives; among others are the application of various measures of bank stability, determinants of
bank stability, and impact analysis. Recent studies which examine the impact of crisis on bank
stability have given attention specifically during the crisis period. While it is useful to examine the
degree of bank stability during the period of crisis, it is also important to determine its degree after the
period of crisis. This is vital as the impact of

A Interview On The And Hearing About A Young Boy
I remember watching the news on may 19th 2013 and hearing about a young boy who passed away
just kilometers outside my house. At age two Geo was killed outside Rics Grill due to an alleged
drunk driver: Richard Suter. I felt the pain and sorrow for the family members and remember hoping
that Mr. Suter be punished for his actions. However, over time I completely forgot what ended up
happening until today. October 20th 2015, I got off the LRT and didn t quite know what to expect
going to the law courts. I have seen TV shows such as The Good Wife and Suits and thought that
maybe the courthouse would resemble similarities. However as I walked through the security and
made my way up to the courtroom I realized that my experience was going to be completely different.
My aunt who works at the courthouse had informed me earlier that morning that in courtroom 445 at
10am there was going to be victim impact statements for the case regarding Mr. Suter actions. As I
walked to the courtroom, I started to remember the news regarding this case and thought about
something that we had learned in class, which was the due process of our judicial system. I had just
assumed that this case was closed and justice has been served, but this was not the case. The
courtroom was much smaller than I had imagined, however it was completely full. People were
standing and the mood was very sombre because of the case. At first I was unsure whether this was a

Safe Haven Laws The Safe Haven Laws for newborns is an alternative to leaving infants in unsafe
places. Not all women who get pregnant are ready to raise a child and sometimes they see no options
except to abandon the baby. Safe havens provide a new option; it allows a birth parent to leave a
newborn infant (less than 72 hours old) with a medical worker in a hospital, a medical worker at a fire
department or other emergency service organization, or peace officer at a law enforcement agency. If
the infant is left with a person at one of these places, and has not been abused, the parent will face no

So in some cases children from many parts of the country were dropped off. Lawmakers plan to
discuss an age limit now or discuss measures so that parents could give up their children in a campus

Many people think it is wrong to just leave your child at a hospital and forget about it, but there are
worse fates for children whose parents did not know about the Safe Haven Laws. The risk of homicide
on the first day of life is 10 times greater than the rate during any other time of life (Herman Giddens

describe cases of infant death and abandonment in North Carolina, Over a 16 year period in North

the parents, an annual rate of 2.1 per 100,000 newborns (Herman Giddens 1428). Sadly, only a few
deaths were unintentional, The majority of these cases (91.2%) were ruled as homicides, while three
were found to be unintentional due to natural causes (Herman Giddens 1428). Mothers were usually
the ones that abandon or kill the newborn, mothers were the perpetrators in all cases where the
perpetrator was positively identified (Herman Giddens 1428). Hardy 4

More money is then borrowed as people take advantage of this, which has the effect of boosting the
mortgage market as well. According to the Council of Mortgage Lenders (CML), 132,500 house
purchase mortgage transactions have benefited from the holiday; this is the equivalent of 25% of the
overall 486,400 house purchase loans in the period. Buyers have saved 173 million from the holiday
rather than the 600 million the government forecasted. The success is questionable as the incentive
was supposedly directed at lower income areas to the North, the Midlands, Wales and Scotland where
as, the majority of the benefits have gone to the richer areas in the SE. As this area in particular was
hit by the recession the least and where the housing market is the strongest, the governmental loss of
the taxation seems to have been wasted. The holiday ended on the 31st December 2009. Although
there has been a brief stimulation in the current housing market the number of transactions is still at an
all time low. The figures may fall further now that stamp duty has been reinstated, meaning that the
government may have to explore other options. AGGREGATES LEVY The Aggregates levy is a tax

The Laughing Man Summary
In J.D. Salinger s The Laughing Man, the Chief protects the innocent Comanches from the horrors of
the real world. The Chief picks them up after school and takes them to parks and museums on a daily
basis. At the end of their day he will often give installments of The Laughing Man a fictional story, the
boys have loved since the first time they heard it. The Chief becomes their hero and, by playing this
role in their lives he takes on the responsibility to protect and care for them. However, his priorities
shift when Mary Hudson begins to spend time with the Chief while he is with the boys. The Chief
begins to crack under the pressure of having to take care of both the boys and Mary, and soon is only
focus is Mary. She goes above all and, the Chief becomes a different person, letting his anger towards
Mary affect the Comanches. He kills off the Laughing Man leaving the Comanches distraught. The
Chief strips away their innocence and reveals being an adult is not without hardships. The Chief makes
a poor choice in the heat of the moment and does not think about his actions causing harm to the boys.
At the end of the story, Chief loses control of his emotions, and Salinger suggests that grown ups have
a responsibility to remain composed and to shield young children from adult turmoil. Initially, the
Comanches adore everything about the Chief; therefore, he has to protect them. Being with the Chief
almost everyday of the week, the Comanches depend on him for a lot. Remembering an outing one
day, the narrator says, I just sat down ... , semi confident the Chief would find me. The Chief always
found us (54). All of the Comanches expect the Chief to always be there for them. Without him, they
lose their sense of direction. The Chief is supposed to guide them, and because they are with him so
much, the bond they form with him seems unbreakable. The narrator lists all of the Chief s
achievements and ends with [the Comanches] from the smallest hoodlum to the biggest, loved and
respected him (54). Being so young, the Comanches have not yet seen an unshielded view of the
world and it is definitely avoided. They love being around the Chief so much because he seems to

Libor, the London Interbank Lending Rate, is considered to be one of the most important rates in
finance because trillions of financial contracts utilize this rate. Libor is used globally as a base interest
rate in which it is used to set up a range of financial deals. It is also used as measure for financial
institutions to gauge their trust level in the financial system and to check each institutions financial
health. This rate is determined by a group of leading banks that submit the rates of ten different
currencies and fifteen lengths of loans, which range from overnight to twelve months. The most
important part is the three month dollar Libor , which is the rate that other banks would borrow from
each other for three months. Traders managed to manipulate this rate because the rates submitted are
estimates; it would be relatively easy to submit false figures. Traders at several banks conspired to
influence the Libor by getting colleagues to submit rates that were higher or lower than their actual
estimate.
Libor is an interest rate that is determined by the rates at which banks lend funds to each other on the
London interbank market. Every day the banks submit their borrowing costs to the Thomson Reuters
data collection service in which an agent calculates out Libor. The agent discards the highest and
lowest quarter of submissions and then averages out the remaining rates to calculate out Libor for the
day. Barclays manipulated this rate by submitting rates

Inheritance Risk Essay
Out of date wills
Considering Rod and Rachel have not updated their Wills, this presents the issue of the assets of their
estate potentially no longer going to the beneficiaries that they would currently like or intend to
receive.
As Rod has been in two previous marriages, there is the risk that in the event of his passing that due to
his Will no longer being valid due to divorce (Allianz.com.au, 2017), unintended beneficiaries could
stake a claim on his estate (intestate) resulting in Rachel receiving a reduced or nil benefit.
Also considering they are both business partners in a company, there is the risk that if either of them
pass away, that the share of the company may be inherited by unintended beneficiaries which can lead

What are the values of all your assets (including company) and debts? Are these owned jointly or

When did Rachel inherit the property from her father? Was the home his main residence since

What are the details of Rod s investment properties? (Probing for details such as purchase date,

Who would you feel comfortable in nominating to handle your financial and medical/lifestyle affairs if
you are unable to?
Who would you nominate to be your executor(s)?
Would you like to gift to any charities?
How is your health? What is your family history? Is there longevity in the family?
Strategies and Implications
Valid Wills
A property drafted and up to date Will helps ensure that the testator s wishes are carried out in
accordance with their intentions of distribution of assets (Allianz.com.au, 2017). Whilst it would not
eliminate a potential challenge of the will, it helps provide a clearer picture on the testator s intentions
that can provide standing to the

Literary Techniques In Dorothea Mackellar s Poem My Country
In Poetry authors use a range of literary techniques. These techniques can include the use of rhyme,
alliteration, personification, similes, metaphors and imagery. The poems that will be compared in this
essay include: My Country by Dorothea Mackellar, The Eagle by Alfred Lord Tennyson and Old Man
Platypus by Banjo Patterson.
The Poem My Country, by Australian poet Dorothea Mackellar, depicts the diverse land of Australia
and why she loves it so much. This poem makes me feel proud to be Australian because I am lucky
enough to live in such a vast and beautiful country, as the poem describes. The constant flow of this
poem is created by the rhyme scheme where the second and fourth lines of each stanza rhyme and so
do lives six and eight. For ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This poem makes me feel lighthearted and it makes me smile through its clever language use to
describe the individuality of the platypus. Techniques used in this poem include the use of rhyme, like
the two poems previously mentioned. In this poem line one, three and four rhyme and lines two and
five also rhyme with each other in each stanza. Also like the two previous poems, Old Man Platypus
employs personification. For example the poem gives the platypus the human quality of talking in
stanza five he talks in a deep unfriendly growl . Alliteration is used in this poem, like the others, such
as in the first line of stanza three: he shares his burrow beneath the bank . Similes are also found in
this poem in stanza four where Patterson writes, They sleep like little brown billiard balls . This image
of the sleeping platypuses is emphasized by the use of alliteration. Unlike the other two poems
mentioned, Patterson uses humor in this poem while he is describing the platypus. For example he
playfully refers to the platypus as Old Man Platypus and writes that he descends from a family most
exclusive . The use of the word exclusive would not usually be thought of to refer to the ancestry of
the platypus and this is where the humorous tone of Patterson s writing comes

How Did Women Dominate The Post Office
The inner workings of the post office enabled the postal service to have a wider communication
system. Strangers were allowed to communicate with each other easily by going to the post office in
their small towns and urban cities, able to contact the outside world. Going to the post office was
something that only men had done when the postal system had been an integral and fast system of
communication for the first time in American history. It also was a place of secrecy where unexpected
encounters might have occurred. It lead the public to fear over their privacy. Women were more
prominent to be uncomfortable by the masculinity that dominated the post office which meant the
women had a difficult time sending letters to a loved

Why Is It Important To Respect Veterans
No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted Aesop . I believe in an America to where there
is kindness. When kindness, of respected veterans. I also think of when/everyone has the same level of
respect. Also when there is shelter for all the homeless or somewhere for them to go. This is what I
believe America should be like and what it is to me. When veterans are respected they know that
everyone are about them. I also think of them being able to have more respect than we do because
they risked their lives just for us. Plus, veterans should have equal rights. But most importantly they
should be able to go somewhere and have no one look down on them. In my mind veterans should be
respected no matter what. There should also be

Lynch Syndrome Analysis
The National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI) and the National Coalition for Health
Professional Education in Genetics (NCHPEG) have expressed the need for the education of
physicians about the ethical, legal and social implications (ELSI) related to Lynch Syndrome
assessment, genetic testing and counseling (Metcalf, Tanner, Buchanan, 2010). To address this need, a
local medical organization has called upon a health consultant and educator to conduct an educational
assessment and training on Lynch Syndrome for primary care physicians and other healthcare
professionals in their organization. Role of Lynch Syndrome: Evidence based
Lynch syndrome (LS) is a genetic disorder which increases the risk for other types of cancers and can

Hereditary breast and ovarian cancer syndrome (HBOC) and LS (also known as hereditary non
polyposis colorectal cancer (HNPCC) combined likely affect 1 in 250 individuals in the general
population, therefore, suggests that primary care providers (PCP) actively cares for a number of these
individuals and their family members (Metcalf, Tanner, Buchanan, 2010). Failure to identify and
manage individuals with HBOC and LS can result in more harm and increase poor cancer prognosis
(Metcalf, Tanner, Buchanan, 2010; Rosato et al., 2013). There are a number of guidelines from
prominent organizations including the United States Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) and
Evaluation of Genomic Applications in Practice and Prevention suggesting that identification of
HBOC and LS patients can improve outcomes through enhanced screening and preventive measures
(Metcalf, Tanner, Buchanan, 2010). Although not recognized as a universal agreement, the best
approaches to high risk individuals with HBOC and Lynch syndrome is a primary care setting, until
there is universal agreement with improved identification of LS risk measures (Metcalf, Tanner,
Buchanan, 2010). Researchers are exploring recommendations to offer genetic testing for LS to all
individuals with diagnosed CRC, with the intent of reducing morbidity and mortality in family
members (Bellcross et al., 2011). Currently there are no significant efforts on a national level to
facilitate widespread genetic screening to prevent LS adult onset conditions in family members of
affected individuals using a public health model (Bellcross et al., 2011). The same concepts and
processes used in newborn universal screening are being considered as a model for implementing
universal LS screening on a population level (Bellcross et al., 2011). In recognizing universal LS

The right and left hemispheres of the brain are joined by a bundle of fibers called the corpus callosum
that delivers messages from one side to the other. Each hemisphere controls the opposite side of the
body. If a brain tumor is located on the right side of the brain, your left arm or leg may be weak or

Death of the General in O Connor s A Late Encounter with the Enemy
I did an analysis of the paragraph where the General passes away (page 143 in my edition of The
Complete Stories of Flannery O Connor) The most obvious thing about this paragraph is that is that
the General s death is portrayed as death during battle. The title The Late Encounter with the Enemy is
very appropriate because the general views his death as such.
The most obvious thing about this paragraph is that it is like a battle. Words are used as bullets in this
paragraph. For example, He couldn t protect himself from the words and attend to the procession too
and the words were coming at him fast. (143) makes it really seem like a battle. Since he was a ...

For example words such as Chickamauga, Shiloh, and Marthasville are present. Interestingly enough
the General mentions in the prior paragraph that he heard the words Chickamauga, Shiloh, Johnston,
and Lee, and that he knew that these words that he was inspiring meant nothing to him. These words
ended up stirring up the picture in his mind at the time of his death. Even when he returns to those
words at the time of his death, he still seems confused. When this occurs, the general thinks; then a
succession of places Chickamauga, Shiloh, and Marthasville rushed at him as if the past were the only
future now and he had to endure it. (142) This seems to be the moment that the General finally faces
his past. The words dealing with his past could be viewed as soldiers in a battle. He keeps running
away from them until he finally faces them.
Perhaps the General s distaste for history has something to do with a very traumatic experience during
the Civil War (not to mention senility) Right before the General passes away he thinks to himself, The
suddenly he saw that the black procession was almost on him. He recognized it, for he had been
dogging it all his days. Perhaps the mention of battles brought out a hidden fear within him. The thing
that he has been dogging for all his days may possibly be death (especially since his is so old). In the
general s mind it seems that what caused his death was that his entire past was

How Did Philip Zimbardo Contribute To Psychology
Philip Zimbardo is a significant psychologist best known for his Stanford prison experiment that took
place in 1971. Zimbardo, now 85 years of age, was born in New York City and attended Brooklyn
College where he got his bachelors of arts degree, majoring in sociology, psychology, and
anthropology; But his education didn t stop there. He continued on in school and eventually earned his
master of arts (M.A.) degree in psychology as well as his Ph.D. in psychology from Yale University.
He taught at Yale, New York University, and Columbia University, then became a faculty member at
Stanford University where he conducted his popular and well known Stanford prison experiment. I
chose to write about Philip Zimbardo after I became immediately fascinated with his Stanford prison
experiment and how he chose to explore the impact that situational elements have on human
behaviors. Zimbardo s personal and childhood experiences definitely shaped and molded his outlook
on society and I believe is what overall drew his attention to exploring the tedious factors and
variables that could ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

almost mock and tease them. The prisoners gradually became more compliant which oddly enough,
caused the guards to grow more aggressive, demanding even more

Tex Mex food is fusion on American and Mexican food. This type of food is very popular, especially

describe Mexican descendants living in Texas, also known as Tejanos. As more and more people
settled in Texas, the popularity of Mexican food grew and grew. People started attempting to make it
themselves in their own kitchens, using Texan ingredients like beef and wheat flour. Beef and wheat
flour are two things not common in Mexico. Mexican restaurants in Texas started to use more gringo

  • 4. How Did The Industrial Revolution Dbq Since the beginning of man, the human race has gone through many changes throughout history. One of the most significant and critical changes was the Industrial Revolution of Great Britain. Characterized by the development of new manufacturing processes, the Industrial Revolution was a period between the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries that spurred extensive changes in almost every aspect of society. These changes stimulated a major transformation in the way of life and created a modern urban society based on industrial manufacturing and not agricultural production. The Industrial Revolution debuted in England because of changes in the textile industry and agriculture leading to a more stable economic platform, an ever increasing demand for coal, and international success in the trading market, resulting in the development and improvement of daily ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Initially, charcoal and wood were used a fuel source, but as those resources became scarce, coal became a necessity. As shown in Document 1, England was fortunate enough to have a readily available coal supply that other countries in Europe were not able to have. As England became industrialized, more coal was needed to fuel steam engines and furnaces. The development of factories and the improvement of the steam engine also increased the demand for coal. As a result, coal mines that were once mined at the surface, now got deeper and deeper, and there was too much water to safely get more coal. When the Newcomen engine was put into use at the coal mines, coal was put into the steam engine to pump more coal out. Similarly almost every other piece of technology in that time period used coal as the main fuel source so the need for coal skyrocketed. Document 4 explains how England had the natural conditions necessary to succeed such as coal, which is a major reason the Industrial Revolution started in England and not in any other ... They need to infiltrate their customers digital environment. I would suggest that Amazon focus on three things: Strategic Acquisitions and Partnerships, Fulfillment Center Expansion, and Forward Vertical Integration. Beyond the highly anticipated package delivery drones and the cashier free grocery stores of Amazon, there are numerous business segments that help Amazon remain as one of the largest online e commerce marketplaces. Amazon has set up an empire that has enabled it to continue with highly lucrative strategies and business opportunities that continually push it forward. Amazon is at the beginning of an investment cycle, one of Morgan Stanley s financial analysts remarked and also stated unclear how long this cycle is expected to last. One of the biggest questions that frequents Amazon is how can Amazon make sure that the growth potential remains in line with the founding principles and objectives? • 8. Romanticism, By Charles Baudelaire Romanticism is an artistic revolt that originated in Europe in the 18th century. It rejected the rationalism, logical thinking, and societal norms associated with the Age of Enlightenment. Rather, it embraced ideals that came out of the French Revolution. The works of art focused on promoting free thinking and provoking feeling from its viewers. To further explain Romanticism, poet and critic Charles Baudelaire once wrote that romanticism is precisely situated neither in choice of subject nor in exact truth, but in way of feeling. Various paintings throughout the 18th and 19th century helped to define this time in art history. During the Romanticism era, it was through the emphasis on emotion, freedom, and the everyday life that the Romantic principles of the sublime and the picturesque were expressed. One of the various themes present in Romanticism is emotion. A major part of the Romanticism movement was placing focus on emotion as opposed to reason. In paintings where a central theme is emotion, artists use the sublimity and picturesque aspects of nature to symbolize feeling or convey a narrative. In The Lady of Shalott (1888) by John William Waterhouse, the subject of the painting is a woman, sitting alone in a boat. It takes inspiration from a scene from a poem of the same name by Alfred, Lord Tennyson. The poem tells the story of the young woman and her unrequited love for Sir Lancelot. • 23. Literary Techniques In Dorothea Mackellar s Poem My Country In Poetry authors use a range of literary techniques. These techniques can include the use of rhyme, alliteration, personification, similes, metaphors and imagery. The poems that will be compared in this essay include: My Country by Dorothea Mackellar, The Eagle by Alfred Lord Tennyson and Old Man Platypus by Banjo Patterson. The Poem My Country, by Australian poet Dorothea Mackellar, depicts the diverse land of Australia and why she loves it so much. This poem makes me feel proud to be Australian because I am lucky enough to live in such a vast and beautiful country, as the poem describes. This poem makes me feel lighthearted and it makes me smile through its clever language use to describe the individuality of the platypus. Techniques used in this poem include the use of rhyme, like the two poems previously mentioned. In this poem line one, three and four rhyme and lines two and five also rhyme with each other in each stanza. Also like the two previous poems, Old Man Platypus employs personification. For example the poem gives the platypus the human quality of talking in stanza five he talks in a deep unfriendly growl . Alliteration is used in this poem, like the others, such as in the first line of stanza three: he shares his burrow beneath the bank . Similes are also found in this poem in stanza four where Patterson writes, They sleep like little brown billiard balls . This image of the sleeping platypuses is emphasized by the use of alliteration. Unlike the other two poems mentioned, Patterson uses humor in this poem while he is describing the platypus. For example he playfully refers to the platypus as Old Man Platypus and writes that he descends from a family most exclusive . The use of the word exclusive would not usually be thought of to refer to the ancestry of the platypus and this is where the humorous tone of Patterson s writing comes ... This is what I believe America should be like and what it is to me. When veterans are respected they know that everyone are about them. I also think of them being able to have more respect than we do because they risked their lives just for us. Plus, veterans should have equal rights. To address this need, a local medical organization has called upon a health consultant and educator to conduct an educational assessment and training on Lynch Syndrome for primary care physicians and other healthcare professionals in their organization. Hereditary breast and ovarian cancer syndrome (HBOC) and LS (also known as hereditary non polyposis colorectal cancer (HNPCC) combined likely affect 1 in 250 individuals in the general population, therefore, suggests that primary care providers (PCP) actively cares for a number of these individuals and their family members (Metcalf, Tanner, Buchanan, 2010). Failure to identify and manage individuals with HBOC and LS can result in more harm and increase poor cancer prognosis (Metcalf, Tanner, Buchanan, 2010; Rosato et al., 2013). There are a number of guidelines from prominent organizations including the United States Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) and Evaluation of Genomic Applications in Practice and Prevention suggesting that identification of HBOC and LS patients can improve outcomes through enhanced screening and preventive measures (Metcalf, Tanner, Buchanan, 2010). Although not recognized as a universal agreement, the best approaches to high risk individuals with HBOC and Lynch syndrome is a primary care setting, until there is universal agreement with improved identification of LS risk measures (Metcalf, Tanner, Buchanan, 2010). Researchers are exploring recommendations to offer genetic testing for LS to all individuals with diagnosed CRC, with the intent of reducing morbidity and mortality in family members (Bellcross et al., 2011). Currently there are no significant efforts on a national level to facilitate widespread genetic screening to prevent LS adult onset conditions in family members of affected individuals using a public health model (Bellcross et al., 2011). The same concepts and processes used in newborn universal screening are being considered as a model for implementing universal LS screening on a population level (Bellcross et al., 2011). Death of the General in O Connor s A Late Encounter with the Enemy I did an analysis of the paragraph where the General passes away (page 143 in my edition of The Complete Stories of Flannery O Connor) The most obvious thing about this paragraph is that is that the General s death is portrayed as death during battle. The title The Late Encounter with the Enemy is very appropriate because the general views his death as such. The most obvious thing about this paragraph is that it is like a battle. Words are used as bullets in this paragraph. For example, He couldn t protect himself from the words and attend to the procession too and the words were coming at him fast. (143) makes it really seem like a battle. Since he was a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example words such as Chickamauga, Shiloh, and Marthasville are present. Interestingly enough the General mentions in the prior paragraph that he heard the words Chickamauga, Shiloh, Johnston, and Lee, and that he knew that these words that he was inspiring meant nothing to him. These words ended up stirring up the picture in his mind at the time of his death. Even when he returns to those words at the time of his death, he still seems confused. When this occurs, the general thinks; then a succession of places Chickamauga, Shiloh, and Marthasville rushed at him as if the past were the only future now and he had to endure it. (142) This seems to be the moment that the General finally faces his past. The words dealing with his past could be viewed as soldiers in a battle. He keeps running away from them until he finally faces them. Perhaps the General s distaste for history has something to do with a very traumatic experience during the Civil War (not to mention senility) Right before the General passes away he thinks to himself, The suddenly he saw that the black procession was almost on him. He recognized it, for he had been dogging it all his days. Perhaps the mention of battles brought out a hidden fear within him. The thing that he has been dogging for all his days may possibly be death (especially since his is so old). In the general s mind it seems that what caused his death was that his entire past was ...
