The Kilauea Volcano is the youngest volcano on Hawaii s Big Island. Because when viewed
from above it seems tiny in comparison to the neighboring volcano Mauna Loa, Kilauea was
originally believed to simply be a satellite of Mauna Loa instead of a distinct volcano. Research that
has taken place during the last decades, however, shows that not only is Kilauea a separate volcano,
but its magna plumbing system actually goes over 60 kilometers deep into the earth. The Kilauea

The establishment of the new constitution drawn up on the 11th of August 1919 caused many
internal issues within the democratic system as a result of continual economic disaster. Germany
was to be a Federal State, with a parliament to be elected every four years following a system of
proportional representation. This system faltered due to the amount of political parties (during
the rule of the Weimar Republic, there were 21 separate coalitions) and a lack of political census.
Economic conditions lead to a polarisation of extremists left and right support. In times of
instability it was noted that poor standards of living meant the lower class leaned towards the left
wing, while the higher class leaned towards the right due to lack of national pride. The extent of
economic issues in Germany caused the middle class and aristocrats to consider political
extremities. Consequently this caused huge political divisions in German society, which denied the
republic of any political census, resulting in a large amounts of political parties and changes to
government. This made it very difficult to establish stability in the republic, or even get laws

The main aim of this book is to help re define injustice but first we must ask ourselves what is

Dorling s book focuses on 5 main causes of injustice in todays modern world and how these 5
causes have changed in comparison to what they were in the past. The path to a better future,
these contend, lies in a better understanding and appreciation of how the injustices of the past
affect patterns of oppression today (Spinner Halev, 2012, p.4). What was once seen as unfortunate
many years ago has now become what s known as unjust . Dorling does an excellent job of
explaining what these 5 tenants of injustice are and he does so in an easy to understand language
whilst giving us examples of how these 5 tenants have changed to prior years. Each tenant both past
and present is briefly explained to us in the introduction of the book, but Dorling delves deeper into

The Army is in a period of transitioning to a new construct on how it trains and employs Brigade
Combat Teams (BCTs). This new idea is called Regionally Aligned Forces (RAFs). The basic
concept for RAFs is to align BCTs to a Combatant Commander (COCOM) for use as needed by
that COCOM. By being aligned to a COCOM, the BCT and its respective Soldiers will receive
specific region cultural and language training and also be provided specific training focus as
determined by that COCOM. On a rotational basis units within those regionally aligned BCTs
will deploy to their designated region to support the COCOM and in return the unit and Soldiers
receive invaluable experiences and realistic training. This essay is to discuss how the Army s
move to RAFs is a great strategic move for the Army on many fronts. Listed are a few of the
fronts that the transition to regionally aligned forces addresses. As the Army draws down its
forces in Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) it has to find ways to remain relevant and useful in
a time of budget reductions, smaller conflicts and greater uncertainty across the Department of
Defense (DoD). With the reduction in size of the Army and the contraction of forces stationed
abroad, there needs to be a plan to address this cultural exposure our forces are losing. In addition,
the Army needs to preserve the lessons learned over a decade at war and not fall back into a
garrison mindset where realistic training becomes unrealistic and worthless.
