The founders of CNN and Apple, Brad Pit, Megan Fox and...
The founders of CNN and Apple, Brad Pit, Megan Fox and Barack Obama all have one thing in
common. It s one of the safest substances known to man and is completely natural. The substance has
many medical advantages. It is a plant and more than a third of all Australians ages over 22 have used
it at least once and approximately 300,000 people will use it today. That s right it s Cannabis and yet it
is illegal in every state apart from Canberra. Now I can safely say you all have your own opinion on
Cannabis and why is should not be legalized. However your opinion is irrelevant if you go on what
other people say about it and not base it on facts. So that s why I m here to inform you about the
positives that Cannabis use has.

In fact a more recent study done with mice found a 40% increase in brain cells after the use of
cannabis.
At this point I hope you re starting to see that cannabis isn t nearly half as bad as everybody makes it
out to be. Just to further add to this it is impossible to overdose on cannabis. This is because the
cannabis is 100% natural. The only possible way to over dose is if you consume close to ¾ of a ton
(700kg) in less than 15 minutes which is physically impossible. It is kind of ironic that there is a much
higher chance of you dying from water than cannabis.
A lot of people see cannabis as a gateway drug. As I work with drug affected people on a daily basis
many people say that the first drug they ever used was cannabis, which by its self is harmless and non
addictive. However after a while of using cannabis by itself, people look for ways to get more of a
high and start to use laced cannabis. Laced cannabis is marijuana with another drug mixed in which is
commonly ice or cocaine. After the experience with laced cannabis users may become addicted to the
other drug which is incorporated with it. This is the point where user can experiment with more
serious drugs such as ice, cocaine, ecstasy and LSD. This is where people get the assumption that
cannabis is addictive and dangerous.
Apart from the reasons I have already stated cannabis is a very effective method of treating a variety

Iberians And Indigenous People In The 15th To 16th Century
Death. Rape. Torture. Enslavement. These were some of the horrific tragedies Indigenous peoples
endured as Iberians during the 15th to 16th century entered and ravaged their world. As the Spanish
empire spread their colonies into the Americas, many Indigenous peoples suffered the wake of the
Spanish thirst for power and profit. Iberians depicted the Indigenous peoples as naïve and inferior
because Iberians believed they were religiously and socially superior on the account of Christianity
and their assessment of a civilized culture. Caused by this superiority complex, the Indigenous peoples
were subjected to many hardships. Iberians had many preconceived ideas of the Indigenous peoples
but had accepted them as likewise subjects of the crown if they accepted Christianity. Iberians had
new found respect for the Indigenous peoples as they had established advanced societies and ways of
life, blaming bad religion as their only hamartia. Many Iberians, specifically Christopher Columbus,
an Italian explorer who is falsely credited with the discovery of the Americas, believed, ...they would
easily be made Christians [because]...they had no creed (RR, p. 11). Hence, they presumed Indigenous
peoples needed guidance as they were capable of redemption and conversion. As a result of the arrival
of the Portuguese in Brazil, Iberians went as far as to paint one of the first appearances of an
Indigenous person in a European painting. In the painting, Magi in Brazil by Vasco Fernandes

Ethnic Makeup Of Los Angeles
Since 1965 many people have immigrated to the greater Los Angeles area than anywhere within the
United States. These immigrants have rapidly and profoundly transformed the city s ethnic makeup
and spared heated debate over their impact on the region. Unfortunately within many areas of Los
Angeles there are those who have been pushed out of their homes, which have been passed through
generations of ethnic minorities in other areas due to gentrification. These gentrified areas have been
renovated by the city to allow for a much more comfortable living experience. One specific way this
has happened is by allowing an ease of access to mainstream markets that provide necessary measures
for their lifestyle. However those of this community are not the only communities that wish to adhere
to this lifestyle. Many Angelinos, although living within a community that is seen as poor and
unhealthy, actually care about the food that they put within their bodies. The resources that are readily
available in the gentrified location in Los Angeles, but not to other parts force them to eat from local
markets and convenience stores close where the quality is unhealthy. Organic, non gmo, and foods that
do not contain MSG are solely confined to stores within areas where people which money has moved
to. These markets consist of mainstream grocers, grocery stores where there is an availability of fresh
foods, which can support a healthy diet on a regular basis. It is not an issue they have

Physical Geography Power Of Place
Physical geography has a significant impact on the development of countries; hence the title, The
Power of Place. Countries on the coast tend to do better than landlocked countries because they have
more trade opportunities. Landlocked countries usually trade with their neighbors, but if their
neighbors are also struggling economically, then both countries suffer from seclusion. However,
sometimes the landlocked countries have well off neighbors which makes them more likely to do well.
For example, Switzerland s neighbors, France and Italy, happen to be near water, so Switzerland isn t
as negatively affected from being landlocked. Diversity is more commonly found in larger countries.
Small countries usually have fewer cultures and a common ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Each of these groups impacts the world in their own way. Globals are wealthy people who are
generally found in the core countries. Although globals are only a small percentage of the population,
they tend to be the most successful and often spread their ideas throughout the world. Globals flatten
the world and control the fates of the locals and mobals (de Blij 7). In the 1950s, de Blij witnessed
how the global Europeans interfered in South Africa, resulting in many locals becoming mobals or
globals. Locals live in the same place their whole life and carry on traditions from hundreds of years
ago. An example of a local community are the farmers in China who still produce rice like their
ancestors did a long time ago. Locals are typically found in the global periphery, and they usually have
a rougher life than the globals do. Somewhere in between the two distinct groups are the mobals.
Mobals tend to be locals that migrate to the core countries in hopes of a better life. For example, the
US has a very high immigration rate because of its many freedoms and education and job

nearly executed. Finally, Sydney Carton, who lived life as a drunk and felt like he was going no

to us that though suffering, struggle, and lost, they can finally dig themselves out of despair and

quartered, by everyone there, he never flinched from the situation (Pg.56, A Tale of Two Cities). He
faced it with bravery and through all his trials he has lived and came up on top. Mr. Darnay s wife is
Lucie, Dr. Manette s daughter. Lucie had grown up not knowing her parents, and thought her father,
Dr. Manette was dead. She also suffered along side Darnay all the times he was accused. She had to

Critical Analysis of Giorgio Agamben Essays
In, Life That Does Not Deserve to Live, Giorgio Agamben aims to expand on Michel Foucault s
concepts of biopower and biopolitics , to express the way in which the state has power over society in
the way that bare life is produced. He uses the Latin term homo sacer literally translated to sacred man
to describe a life which can be eliminated without punishment , one that possesses no value to the state
and therefore can be terminated without the act being considered a crime. Examples of this can be
seen in people who experience brain death and subsequently have their life support machine switched
off, and in people in prison camps such as Guantanamo Bay. However, the biggest example we are
given of bare life, is in the Jewish ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, Agamben s thesis that the camp can be used as a paradigm for the line that every society
sets between bare life and political existence is in itself an important argument. However, he only
concentrates on the separation of the two, rather than expanding his argument to illustrate the
divisions that are clearly prevalent within each group.
Agamben also uses the biopolitics of the Nazi regime to draw a parallel to liberal, democratic societies
in the sense that it shows that all societies have the same line in which, when crossed, one becomes
homo sacer. This is the state of exception , the point in which the sovereign decides, Which life may
be killed without the commission of a homicide . Agamben leads the argument for the state of
exception onto one regarding euthanasia. This can be seen as the sovereign uses the state of exception
to deem brain dead people as bare life . They possess no economic merit to the state and so their life is
devoid of value . The sovereign as a person, who holds the power to decide whether a person is bios or
zoe , falls to people who preside over the health of the individual, he/she can be a doctor, a
psychiatrist, and a jurist . As these represent the affluent class of society, this shows that biopower is
inevitably connected to economic worth. The Nazi regime, according to Agamben, is the first instance
in which politics and medicine have ever

The Radicalization Of Terrorist Groups
1. How can extremist groups treat fellow human beings with such cruelty?
When we think of a person who joins a terrorist group we think that they must be a psychopath or
suffer from some form of mental illness. There has to be something wrong with that individual to be
so easily swayed into a group that is so violent and has no regard for human life. However, classic
studies like those performed by Milgram and Zimbardo proved that even stable, well adjusted
individuals can be capable of inflicting serious harm on fellow human beings without any regret.
These studies proved anyone put into the right circumstances could be lead to treat their fellow human
beings with extreme cruelty, dehumanization, or even death. Therefore, the majority of ... Show more

However, many members are possibly just as ordinary as you or me. Radicalization does not happen
simply by listening nor by an individual s experiences but if you combine the two they amplify each
other and a terrorist could be born. The process of co radicalization was an important factor I learned
from this paper. I do not think any of us realize that as a society the West contributes to the making of
a terrorist. Muslims are drawn to the West as a society of freedom and the land of opportunity.
However, just because there are Muslim we profile and discriminate against them. In doing this most
people do not understand that we are basically radicalizing them ourselves. Terrorism is all about
division and this puts a big divide between us and the Muslim communities. Leaders and politicians of
the West that use aggressive tactics also fuel terrorism. This was made very clear when al Qaeda
reaired Donald Trump s reaction to Muslim immigration. This article has been very beneficial for me
because I am one of those that feel that we need to take on ISIS in a more aggressive manner.
However, after learning about the research regarding radicalization and group dynamics in this article
I have gained a better understanding of terrorism and how it works. As David Rothkopf wrote after the
Paris massacres last November, overreaction is precisely the wrong response to terrorism. And it s
exactly what terrorists want.... It does the work of the terrorists for the terrorists. I think this says it

Summary Of Marie Lu s Prodigy
The way a person acts or thinks everyday may be influenced in many ways, such as the setting.Settings
could be a big impact to a character just as much as a small impact. For example, in Marie Lu s
Prodigy demonstrated the powerful effect the setting could make on a character, especially in the most
important setting in the book, the Republic. In the beginning of Prodigy, the main characters, June and
Day, are in a military city, las vegas. They felt scared, cautious and very aware. But why would normal
people feel scared in las Vegas? Well, setting may have a role in this. June and Day are the most
wanted criminals of the country, so they have to be careful not to draw attention to themselves. So,
they felt intimidated by the offers patrolling the streets and the risk of getting caught. The text states,
Troops make their way up and down the street... This is a military city, a world of soldiers...Day
shakes his head slowly. He looks unsettlingly pale (8). This illustrated that the setting, las vegas,
affected the characters. Las Vegas made Day feel uncomfortable. This setting also made June think
about the past few weeks of her life. The author writes, Vegas is the worst possible city for us to
wander into by ourselves... I m a criminal now, I ll never be able to go back to the comforts of my old
life. The thought leaves a sick, empty feeling in my stomach, as if I miss being the Republic s darling.

Although each classification of natural disaster is capable of creating catastrophic destruction, I feel
that the destruction resulting from the accumulated factors that are responsible for Tsunamis have a
potential destructive force far greater than other singular forces of nature on their own; Furthermore,
due to the densely populated urbanized regions in high risk zones the potential impact on humans
form Tsunamis is elevated in comparison with other phenomena s which may occur with little impact
on human society. Therefore a natural event that may be of similar magnitude may occur without

Despite the destructive force of the original earthquake, a massive tidal surge will follow sometimes
only minutes after the initial shockwave with an even greater destructive force.
Atlantic Costal cities such as New York may not suffer from Tsunamis caused by mega thrusts along
submissive faults, Atlantic cities are still at risk of Tsunamis in some form. In 1929 a Tsunami hit the
coast of Newfoundland Canada which was caused by a massive underwater landslide on the
continental shelf that caused a massive water surge. A Tsunami of this nature could still affect regions
such as New York City and other large cities along the Atlantic.
The biggest risk of Tsunamis is along the Pacific cost lines, Oceania and the Indian Ocean regions.
Seismic activity in the South Pacific, Oceania and Indian regions in particular can strike with
devastating force is some of the worlds most densely populated regions. The destructive force,

Analysis Of Stud Terkel s The Good War
Stud Terkel s The Good War is a book of oral histories from World War Two that shows many
different accounts and aspects of living life in World War Two or actually being on the battlefield. The
interviews range from soldiers, admirals, house wives, kids, nurses and many other people in the
world experiencing World War Two. There are also people who had firsthand accounts from Russia,
England, France and even Japan. I believe this book of memories is a far more effective way of
understanding the history of World War Two rather than a book of hard facts and statistics because
The Good War demonstrates how firsthand accounts in World War Two makes you feel like you ve
been on the battlefield or out on the home front. It creates visual images in your head with the
amazing detail that some of the soldiers described. These stories are compelling to read and it draws
your attention in. There are limitations of just having a book about oral histories, the person could
emphasize and talk about something that was important to them and not others, they could distort the
memories to what they want to remember or they could even exaggerate or do the opposite and leave
very little detail. Interviews such as Lowell Steward s, Akira Miuri, John H Groove, and Telford
Taylor show how effective oral histories can be.
Lowell Steward was an African American who enlisted into the United States Airforce. Studs Terkel

There are a number of barriers to professional development within my role and a number of things
which you need to think about when booking/planning training for your staff. I have outlined the
potential barriers which I am likely to face within my role: * Lack of funding to access training * Lack
of staff to cover training * Courses being cancelled by organisation * No time * No
support/encouragement from your manager * General lack of appropriate training which you require *
No one to acknowledge your training needs through supervisions and appraisals * No confidence or
drive to strive for better * Transport (do not drive, no bus routes etc) * Lack of childcare (or unable to
afford) while attending courses * Not being able to identify your own training needs (thinks they

All the above are barriers which I am sure every childcare setting encounters when booking/planning

Love Not Legalism By Madeleine L Engle
Love Not Legalism
Madeleine L Engle was a fierce thought provoking writer. She challenged me as both a believer and a
writer. Her scatterbrained writing style was relatable to me and so were the things she talked about.
She would have been a wonderful wise woman to grab a meal with. She did not shy away from
controversial topics; but instead, she introduced them. In Walking on Water L Engle sought to share
the freedom available to us if we allow Jesus Christ to break us free from our chains.
One of the topics that L Engle humbly addressed was the topic of legalism. I greatly appreciated this
because I find that many world renowned leaders shy away from talking about it, when in reality it
may be one of the enemy s most disguised tools. When people see God as an unapproachable killjoy, it
becomes natural to grow distant from Him, and I know that before becoming a Christian this was the
biggest stumbling block for me and I know some of the most kindhearted people cannot grasp the fact
that God loves them and that He sent His one and only son to save them. L Engle also tackled the
major misconception that God does not know how to laugh. He created humor and is pretty humorous
himself. George MacDonald said, It is the Heart that is not yet sure of its God that is afraid to laugh in
His presence (131). I am learning that more and more every day. The common trait that my most
joyful friends share is confidence in God s love for them. A relationship with God has so

Evaluation of perioperative variations in the levels of inflammatory markers in open reduction and
internal fixation of maxillofacial fractures INTRODUCTION
Infectious complications are commonly encountered following ORIF (Open reduction and internal
fixation) ever since it has been adopted as a treatment modality for maxillofacial fractures. Early
detection of infection can be difficult in the postoperative phase as many signs and symptoms may
actually mimic a SIRS (Systemic inflammatory response syndrome).
There is a wealth of literature supporting the use of various inflammatory markers in diagnosis and
monitoring of treatment of infectious complications in post operative patients[1 4]. Various authors
have studied markers including (Total leucocyte count) TLC, CRP(C reactive protein), AST (Aspartate
Transaminase) and ALT (Alanine Transaminase) in patients with SIRS and sepsis [5].
Behaviour of inflammatory markers and their correlation to infection in the postoperative phase have
been evaluated in various disciplines of surgery. However, similar studies in maxillofacial surgery
have been found to be very scarce. We therefore designed a study to evaluate perioperative variations
in the levels inflammatory markers in Open Reduction and Internal Fixation (ORIF) of maxillofacial
fractures.
An attempt was made to establish an acceptable range of variations in the values of inflammatory
markers in ORIF and co relate these variations to the length of surgery, type of

Mastitis is the inflammation of the mammary gland (Damron 685). It looks nothing like it should.
Mastitis makes the milk very stringy and clumpy. It can be caused by many different things. Most
common bacteria that causes mastitis are: Coagulase negative staphylococci bacteria and Mycoplasma
capricolum. Other things that can cause mastitis are yeast infections and frequent use of penicillin.
Mastitis can be fatal if it is not treated. Your does (nanny goats) will usually show signs of mastitis by
one or both of the teats being swollen and warm to the touch. Its very painful for them. Sometimes
mastitis shows no signs until it is too late to treat. Treatment for mastitis can be very costly! First you

The Martian is prime example of soft and hard science fiction as the book goes into detail about the
technology and human experiences. A first rate science fiction novel has advanced technology but has
warnings for those in the present. Mark is stuck on Mars because NASA was not careful enough to
build an antenna durable enough to survive a storm so the message is don t underestimate danger. For
this reason libraries must remain open to public schools as it contains an alternative to Internet

In conclusion books like The Martian are the reasons why libraries must stay in public schools. They

influenced by the past and it will directly influence the future. If we are to ignore the events that have
led us to where we are then we are destined to repeat our often tragic and ill fated past. We also have
no way of truly making a difference in the field of mental health if we are unable to build upon both
the successes and the failures of those who have come before us (Gerig, 2014). This paper examines

include those who have impairments that substantially limit a major life activity, have a history or

limited in some functions because of an impairment of hearing. The Center for Disease Control and
Prevention (CDC) reports deaf individuals do not hear well enough to rely on their hearing to process

Goffman s (1963) understanding of stigma is the situation of persons who are unable to conform to
standards that society calls normal. Thus, has led to Deafness being a label for disqualification to full
social acceptance. This labelling entails a social judgment, with definition and meaning contested and
liable to vary over time and between societies and cultures (Exploring Disability). Disabilities were
seen as social problems as in a discrepancy between what is and what people think ought to be. This
idea shifted away from a medical model to the idea of disability as a form of social deviance that
focused on disability as a social status. In recent years, theorizing ideas such as the socio political
approach incorporate the understanding and priorities of disabled people. While being deaf is
considered by most to be a disability, others within the Deaf population have different aspects of
Deafness as simply being a member of a visual communication based community rather than being a
broken member of the community. With hearing assistive technology helping bridge the
communication gap for those with hearing loss and further technology allowing them to communicate,

simply found an alternate path through this journey of life. The most widely recognized

Background:
According to Henderson, speed is how far an object travels during a specific amount of time and does
not include the direction. Velocity can be explained as the speed of an object, but also including the
direction the object is heading towards (Henderson, 2015).
Giancoli states that the velocity of an object is taken with the magnitude the numerical value and the
direction of the object (Giancoli, 2009). Therefore, with these two qualities, velocity can be illustrated

Voltage instability problems play great role in power systems planning and operation. Nowadays,
power systems are being performed closer to their steadiness limits due to economic and
environmental constrains. Maintaining a fixed and secure operation of power system is hence a very
vital and challenging issue. Therefore, it is highly suggested to take care of voltage stability especially
in high enhanced networks as a consequence of heavier loading. Many researchers study the power
system voltage stability from different points of view. The research progress is started with defining
and identifying the voltage stability circumstances, factors, indices and problems. Some articles are
performed to improve and enhance the voltage stability index [1] [4]. Also, many techniques are used
in voltage instability detection [5 7]. The essential factors causing voltage instability are excessive
loading of transmission lines, high transmission line losses, lack of reactive power supply, transmitting
power over long distances and presence of non linear loads. As a result, many approaches have been
created to identify critical power system, buses and lines. The largest concern to the electric utility
industry is voltage stability. In this paper, Phasor information (magnitude and phase angle) is provided
by Phasor Measurement Unit (PMU) technology [8, 9]. In this paper, Recurrent Neural Network
(RNN) is used to detect the voltage instability, RNN is a powerful learning algorithm. Several

The office was around a 50/50 mix of male and female staff. The call centre was a high pressure job
and quite a stressful atmosphere. Tempers would often boil however there never seemed to be any
lasting conflict until on an occasion after a works dinner party.
Two ladies wished to sit near one of the managers, the manager was unaware of this. As everyone took
their seats at the tables, only one of the ladies was able to sit at the same table as the manager. The
lady who was not able to sit on the manager s table became quite upset and the following day at work
refused to speak to the other girl. All the colleagues in the office who were aware of the situation did
not pay too much attention to the dispute as

The De Pere Area Chamber Of Commerce
I started my internship with the De Pere Area Chamber of Commerce in the first week of June.
Beginning my internship I wasn t sure what to expect. I had ideas about what I was going to be doing,
but wasn t sure. Whether the task was big or small I knew I wanted to contribute. At the De Pere Area
Chamber of Commerce I tend to work Monday through Friday. On Monday through Thursday I
usually work 10am to 3pm. However, I work a second job bartending at the Hyatt in Green Bay.
Sometimes the hours overlap and I am forced to leave my internship early. On Fridays I go into my
internship, but for limited time. Normally, I go to work for 10:30am to 12pm or longer, depending on
what my director needs from me. On average I work at the Chamber 20 22 hours a week. The average
can be less or more depending on what is being worked on. So far my work has been diverse at the
Chamber of Commerce. In the beginning I wrote on press releases (announcing my hiring at the
Chamber), I wrote a intern description and worked on improving their website. As time went on, I
worked with them to help organize certain events. The De Pere Chamber hosted Art in the Park and is
currently hosting their annual charity golf outing. With the events I did things like, call sponsors,
follow up with people, pick up posters for the events and met up attendees and collect their payments.
Other times, I did simple things for the Chamber like, order up to date brochures, painted a wall and
organized the

The Descriptive and Symbolic Conceptions in Social Studies
1) Symbolic forms are of vital importance in the social studies not only as an object and/or
occurrence, whether naturally occurring or not, but it is also of significance in the socio contextual
situation in which it is received. These symbolic forms can appear as actions and expressions,
conversations, a variety of artifacts artifact being defined as an object made by a human being,
typically holds cultural or historical significance and texts. (Thompson, 1990, pg. 122)
(http://www.oxforddictionaries.com/definition/english/artefact) Everyone makes use of these symbolic
forms on a daily basis to express themselves and their emotions in any variety of ways, while
conforming to commonly accepted means of expression within that individuals society. By
interpreting the reaction they evoke, they develop an understanding of the connotations associated
with the symbols. Once they have learned the social context of the symbols they further their
knowledge of each social background and its construct. For example the symbol of a crucifix and of a
red rose are both simple items, with individual associations under different contextual situations which
determine what relevance that item holds. The crucifix is an artifact holding religious significance,
whereas a red rose is a naturally occurring object which has been assigned its association with love
within specific societies. The associations attached to symbols is entirely dependent on its socio
cultural context in which it is

X-Ray Powder Diffraction Patterns
X ray powder diffraction patterns of good quality were obtained for the samples using CuKα radiation
of wavelength 1.5406A0 at room temperature. The obtained X ray diffraction patterns confirmed the
formation of a single phase cubic spinel structure for the ferrite samples with a crystallite size ranging
from 25 34nm as reported earlier [16]. The X ray diffraction patterns were fitted using a Rietveld
refinement procedure as shown in Fig 2 [17,18]. The fitted patterns were observed for eight peaks
indexed by miller indices (220), (311), (222), (400), (422), (511) and (440), evident from the normal
XRD patterns as reported earlier [16]. From the Fig 2 it is observed that sharpness in the peak is
increased with an observed decrease in the width of the peak, which is the indication of the increase in
particle size of the ferrite with the increase in Indium content. From the Fig 2 it is evident that
observed patterns were exactly coinciding with the calculated values and the difference is very
negligible. In comparison with the normal XRD patterns Rietveld patterns have shown some extra
peaks of (331), (531), (422), (620), (533) and (622) which correspond to the second order impurity
phase. The intensities of the impurity peaks reflect that the percentage of the impurity is negligible.
From the Rietveld refinement patterns of the samples it is clear that the ferrites belong to the space
group Fd3m with lattice parameter values ranging from 8.3106A0 to 8.3648A0. The values are in

Charles Coughlin Father Hate Speech
Controversial Priest Charles Coughlin is known as the infamous priest that would speak his mind and
give his controversial speeches over the radio, mainly about the Americas economic crisis and the
government. Americans around the United States would tune in to Father Coughlin s weekly radio
broadcasts and listen to his outrage input about the American government and the little the
government was doing to improve the nation s debt. How can it be that a priest of a small Michigan
congregation, could become a famous individual that was liked by many, hated by quite a few, and is
intensely involved in American politics. Americans heard the voice of Father Charles Coughlin and
felt he was a respected individual speaking on behalf of the citizens, ... Show more content on

Failure Of Socialism And Fascism
The failure of Socialism and Fascism to make any significant positive impact in Britain contributed
the overall decline in popular support during the early years after the Great War. Poor economic
conditions were accepted with reluctance and a sense of little hope for substantial change within the
political process. Social class ideology that contributed to failure finding common ground in the
populations was ultimately overcome by the overall hatred of Fascism and the popular belief that
violence was no longer acceptable in Britain. George Orwell provides the most convincing arguments
why Socialism was failing and in his book The Road to Wigin Pier, we learn of the great economic
challenges that many working class faces. Orwell suggests several reasons for the moderate response
to the troubled economic conditions. He writes that many of the working had a sense of the inability to
make change within society through the political process. When he questioned a working class person
on why they would not form a union, Orwell quotes them stating he was immediately told that they
would never allow it. I asked who are they.1 The working class had a feeling the current management
and political system would discourage formation of any beneficial organization that was truly on the
behalf of the workers. Orwell goes on to also point out that many of the working class may have not
truly been aware of the actual conditions that they were living. When talking to a miner,

Language and Syntax in Coriolanus
Take Home Essay Language and Syntax in Coriolanus
As William Shakespeare continued to write and create plays, he became more experiential with his
language and rhetoric within them. Coriolanus, one of Shakespeare s final tragedies, exhibits a distinct
syntax when compared with Titus Andronicus and Othello. Titus Andronicus was one of the first of
Shakespeare s plays and his first tragedy. The play is characterized by classic verses, mainly in the
iambic pentameter form. Shakespeare did not have the experience and artistic freedom he had when
writing Coriolanus; he was emerging in London s theatre scene and played it safe by using a more
traditional syntax structure. The language Shakespeare used in Othello was much more ornate and
extravagant; like Titus Andronicus it is marked by many uninterrupted speeches and soliloquies.
Coriolanus is much more modern like in the syntax than William Shakespeare s preceding tragedy
plays.
The choppiness of the speeches in Coriolanus is very unlike the formal, end stopped, verbose
soliloquies and speeches in both Othello and Titus Andronicus. Both characteristics accomplish
different effects in the plays the great, long speeches in the two tragedies prior to Coriolanus allow the
audience or reader to hear the internal thoughts of the characters. In Act II, Scene IV of Titus
Andronicus, the audience has an opportunity to collect Lavinia s emotion, after her rapists cut her
tongue, by Marcus, her uncle s, long soliloquy after he

Death in The Dream of the Rood Essay
Death in The Dream of the Rood The crucifixion of Christ is treated differently within the bodies of
Old English and Middle English literature. The values of each era s society are superimposed on the
descriptions of the sacrifice of Christ on the cross. Christ is depicted either as the model of the hero,
prevalent in Old English literature, or as the embodiment of love and passion, as found in Showings
by Julian of Norwich.
Old English literature establishes the elements of the heroic code, to which its society ascribed. A man
must live, or die, by his honor. In The Dream of the Rood the crucifixion of Christ is depicted as the
ultimate symbol of heroism, as all mankind bewailed Christ s death and prepared a gilt cross ... Show

21) Julian of Norwich, an anchoress of Saint Julian, received great visions of the crucifixion of Christ,
on what was thought to be her deathbed. According to the Norton Anthology of English Literature,
Sixth Ed., her revelation of these visions, Showings, is colored by her experience and temperament as
an individual woman. Julian s depiction of the crucifixion describes Christ s love for humanity upon
his crucifixion. This I took it for that time that our Lord Jesu of his courteous love would show me the
comfort before the time of my temptation; for me thought it might well be that I should by the
sufferance of God and with his keeping be tempted of fiends before I should die. (Norton Anthology
of English Literature, Sixth Ed., p. 294) His choice to die upon the cross seems to be the necessity for
the salvation of mankind, not as the manifestation of His inimitable honor and glory.
The thanes of the heroic code are bound to their lord by honor. The Dream of the Rood affirms this
powerful obligation as the author writes that when God visits us on judgment day, He will ask who
would stand fast, unafraid, for Him, their real leader: Before his host he will ask where the man is who
in the name of the Lord would taste bitter death as he did on the cross. (Norton Anthology of English
Literature, Sixth Ed., p. 21). In addition, the lord is bound to his men. This ideal is continued within
the chivalry of the Middle Ages. As a passage of Showings tells the

Investigating The Intrinsic Differences Among The...
Abstract
The following research paper tests and investigates the intrinsic differences among the two tasks
present in the generation task and the affects it has on memory. We believe that the relation of
generating a word compared to simply reading a word has a more lasting effect on the brain and its
memory sensors. This experiment consisted of generated words or read words followed by a rule
(associate, category, opposite, rhyme, synonym) in which the participant was given the first word and
asked to read or generate the following word following the rule type. After a certain period of time the
participants, which consisted of students currently enrolled at Texas A M, were asked to recall the
words they generated or read. Results indicated that that when a word is generated it is recalled at a
more accurate rate.
This essay is geared to establish and report findings based on the phenomenon manifested among a
vast amount of experiments over the years, the generation effect. While there were many informative
articles which slightly applied to the generation effect no true conclusion is reached, therefore this
essay attempts to compile all ideas to come to one solid finding.
The generation effect was developed as a part of memory research, and it states that individuals tend
to recall words that they personally generated better than words participants were given. Since this
phenomenon has been an important part in many studies yet seemed to have no true solid

Tupac Amaru Revolutionary Movement
Imagine being in a 36 and counting year war with your own country, this is an everyday battle in Peru.
Beginning in 1980, it has been an ongoing armed war and conflict between the government and an
insurgent/rebel group called the Guerilla Army revolting against the government. An estimation of
70,000 people have been killed due to these conflicts. Arguments between MRTA and Shining Path
are known to slowly cool off by 2000, but in 2014 violence erupted between the Peruvian Army and
guerrilla fighters in Peru becoming an ongoing civil war between Peruvian people. In 1982, Tupac
Amaru Revolutionary Movement builds up its own Guerrilla war against the Peruvian State
government. Guerilla Warfare is usually a small group of people such armed ... Show more content on

It s one of the safest substances known to man and is completely natural. The substance has many medical advantages. It is a plant and more than a third of all Australians ages over 22 have used it at least once and approximately 300,000 people will use it today. That s right it s Cannabis and yet it is illegal in every state apart from Canberra. Now I can safely say you all have your own opinion on Cannabis and why is should not be legalized. However your opinion is irrelevant if you go on what other people say about it and not base it on facts. So that s why I m here to inform you about the positives that Cannabis use has. First off I want ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In fact a more recent study done with mice found a 40% increase in brain cells after the use of cannabis. At this point I hope you re starting to see that cannabis isn t nearly half as bad as everybody makes it out to be. Just to further add to this it is impossible to overdose on cannabis. This is because the cannabis is 100% natural. The only possible way to over dose is if you consume close to ¾ of a ton (700kg) in less than 15 minutes which is physically impossible. It is kind of ironic that there is a much higher chance of you dying from water than cannabis. A lot of people see cannabis as a gateway drug. As I work with drug affected people on a daily basis many people say that the first drug they ever used was cannabis, which by its self is harmless and non addictive. However after a while of using cannabis by itself, people look for ways to get more of a high and start to use laced cannabis. Laced cannabis is marijuana with another drug mixed in which is commonly ice or cocaine. After the experience with laced cannabis users may become addicted to the other drug which is incorporated with it. This is the point where user can experiment with more serious drugs such as ice, cocaine, ecstasy and LSD. This is where people get the assumption that cannabis is addictive and dangerous. Apart from the reasons I have already stated cannabis is a very effective method of treating a variety of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Iberians And Indigenous People In The 15th To 16th Century Death. Rape. Torture. Enslavement. These were some of the horrific tragedies Indigenous peoples endured as Iberians during the 15th to 16th century entered and ravaged their world. As the Spanish empire spread their colonies into the Americas, many Indigenous peoples suffered the wake of the Spanish thirst for power and profit. Iberians depicted the Indigenous peoples as naïve and inferior because Iberians believed they were religiously and socially superior on the account of Christianity and their assessment of a civilized culture. Caused by this superiority complex, the Indigenous peoples were subjected to many hardships. Iberians had many preconceived ideas of the Indigenous peoples but had accepted them as likewise subjects of the crown if they accepted Christianity. Iberians had new found respect for the Indigenous peoples as they had established advanced societies and ways of life, blaming bad religion as their only hamartia. Many Iberians, specifically Christopher Columbus, an Italian explorer who is falsely credited with the discovery of the Americas, believed, ...they would easily be made Christians [because]...they had no creed (RR, p. 11). Hence, they presumed Indigenous peoples needed guidance as they were capable of redemption and conversion. As a result of the arrival of the Portuguese in Brazil, Iberians went as far as to paint one of the first appearances of an Indigenous person in a European painting. • 4. Ethnic Makeup Of Los Angeles Since 1965 many people have immigrated to the greater Los Angeles area than anywhere within the United States. These immigrants have rapidly and profoundly transformed the city s ethnic makeup and spared heated debate over their impact on the region. Unfortunately within many areas of Los Angeles there are those who have been pushed out of their homes, which have been passed through generations of ethnic minorities in other areas due to gentrification. These gentrified areas have been renovated by the city to allow for a much more comfortable living experience. One specific way this has happened is by allowing an ease of access to mainstream markets that provide necessary measures for their lifestyle. However those of this community are not the only communities that wish to adhere to this lifestyle. Many Angelinos, although living within a community that is seen as poor and unhealthy, actually care about the food that they put within their bodies. The resources that are readily available in the gentrified location in Los Angeles, but not to other parts force them to eat from local markets and convenience stores close where the quality is unhealthy. Organic, non gmo, and foods that do not contain MSG are solely confined to stores within areas where people which money has moved to. These markets consist of mainstream grocers, grocery stores where there is an availability of fresh foods, which can support a healthy diet on a regular basis. It is not an issue they have ... • 5. Physical Geography Power Of Place Physical geography has a significant impact on the development of countries; hence the title, The Power of Place. Countries on the coast tend to do better than landlocked countries because they have more trade opportunities. Landlocked countries usually trade with their neighbors, but if their neighbors are also struggling economically, then both countries suffer from seclusion. However, sometimes the landlocked countries have well off neighbors which makes them more likely to do well. For example, Switzerland s neighbors, France and Italy, happen to be near water, so Switzerland isn t as negatively affected from being landlocked. Each of these groups impacts the world in their own way. Globals are wealthy people who are generally found in the core countries. Although globals are only a small percentage of the population, they tend to be the most successful and often spread their ideas throughout the world. Globals flatten the world and control the fates of the locals and mobals (de Blij 7). In the 1950s, de Blij witnessed how the global Europeans interfered in South Africa, resulting in many locals becoming mobals or globals. Locals live in the same place their whole life and carry on traditions from hundreds of years ago. An example of a local community are the farmers in China who still produce rice like their ancestors did a long time ago. Locals are typically found in the global periphery, and they usually have a rougher life than the globals do. Somewhere in between the two distinct groups are the mobals. Mobals tend to be locals that migrate to the core countries in hopes of a better life. For example, the US has a very high immigration rate because of its many freedoms and education and job ... • 7. Critical Analysis of Giorgio Agamben Essays In, Life That Does Not Deserve to Live, Giorgio Agamben aims to expand on Michel Foucault s concepts of biopower and biopolitics , to express the way in which the state has power over society in the way that bare life is produced. He uses the Latin term homo sacer literally translated to sacred man to describe a life which can be eliminated without punishment , one that possesses no value to the state and therefore can be terminated without the act being considered a crime. Examples of this can be seen in people who experience brain death and subsequently have their life support machine switched off, and in people in prison camps such as Guantanamo Bay. However, the biggest example we are given of bare life, is in the Jewish ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Therefore, Agamben s thesis that the camp can be used as a paradigm for the line that every society sets between bare life and political existence is in itself an important argument. However, he only concentrates on the separation of the two, rather than expanding his argument to illustrate the divisions that are clearly prevalent within each group. Agamben also uses the biopolitics of the Nazi regime to draw a parallel to liberal, democratic societies in the sense that it shows that all societies have the same line in which, when crossed, one becomes homo sacer. This is the state of exception , the point in which the sovereign decides, Which life may be killed without the commission of a homicide . Agamben leads the argument for the state of exception onto one regarding euthanasia. This can be seen as the sovereign uses the state of exception to deem brain dead people as bare life . They possess no economic merit to the state and so their life is devoid of value . The sovereign as a person, who holds the power to decide whether a person is bios or zoe , falls to people who preside over the health of the individual, he/she can be a doctor, a psychiatrist, and a jurist . As these represent the affluent class of society, this shows that biopower is inevitably connected to economic worth. • 8. The Radicalization Of Terrorist Groups 1. How can extremist groups treat fellow human beings with such cruelty? When we think of a person who joins a terrorist group we think that they must be a psychopath or suffer from some form of mental illness. There has to be something wrong with that individual to be so easily swayed into a group that is so violent and has no regard for human life. However, classic studies like those performed by Milgram and Zimbardo proved that even stable, well adjusted individuals can be capable of inflicting serious harm on fellow human beings without any regret. These studies proved anyone put into the right circumstances could be lead to treat their fellow human beings with extreme cruelty, dehumanization, or even death. Therefore, the majority of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, many members are possibly just as ordinary as you or me. Radicalization does not happen simply by listening nor by an individual s experiences but if you combine the two they amplify each other and a terrorist could be born. The process of co radicalization was an important factor I learned from this paper. I do not think any of us realize that as a society the West contributes to the making of a terrorist. Muslims are drawn to the West as a society of freedom and the land of opportunity. However, just because there are Muslim we profile and discriminate against them. In doing this most people do not understand that we are basically radicalizing them ourselves. Terrorism is all about division and this puts a big divide between us and the Muslim communities. Leaders and politicians of the West that use aggressive tactics also fuel terrorism. This was made very clear when al Qaeda reaired Donald Trump s reaction to Muslim immigration. This article has been very beneficial for me because I am one of those that feel that we need to take on ISIS in a more aggressive manner. However, after learning about the research regarding radicalization and group dynamics in this article I have gained a better understanding of terrorism and how it works. As David Rothkopf wrote after the Paris massacres last November, overreaction is precisely the wrong response to terrorism. And it s exactly what terrorists want.... Summary Of Marie Lu s Prodigy The way a person acts or thinks everyday may be influenced in many ways, such as the setting.Settings could be a big impact to a character just as much as a small impact. For example, in Marie Lu s Prodigy demonstrated the powerful effect the setting could make on a character, especially in the most important setting in the book, the Republic. In the beginning of Prodigy, the main characters, June and Day, are in a military city, las vegas. They felt scared, cautious and very aware. But why would normal people feel scared in las Vegas? Well, setting may have a role in this. June and Day are the most wanted criminals of the country, so they have to be careful not to draw attention to themselves. So, they felt intimidated by the offers patrolling the streets and the risk of getting caught. The text states, Troops make their way up and down the street... This is a military city, a world of soldiers...Day shakes his head slowly. He looks unsettlingly pale (8). This illustrated that the setting, las vegas, affected the characters. Las Vegas made Day feel uncomfortable. This setting also made June think about the past few weeks of her life. The author writes, Vegas is the worst possible city for us to wander into by ourselves... I m a criminal now, I ll never be able to go back to the comforts of my old life. • 12. Analysis Of Stud Terkel s The Good War Stud Terkel s The Good War is a book of oral histories from World War Two that shows many different accounts and aspects of living life in World War Two or actually being on the battlefield. The interviews range from soldiers, admirals, house wives, kids, nurses and many other people in the world experiencing World War Two. There are also people who had firsthand accounts from Russia, England, France and even Japan. I believe this book of memories is a far more effective way of understanding the history of World War Two rather than a book of hard facts and statistics because The Good War demonstrates how firsthand accounts in World War Two makes you feel like you ve been on the battlefield or out on the home front. It creates visual images in your head with the amazing detail that some of the soldiers described. These stories are compelling to read and it draws your attention in. There are limitations of just having a book about oral histories, the person could emphasize and talk about something that was important to them and not others, they could distort the memories to what they want to remember or they could even exaggerate or do the opposite and leave very little detail. Interviews such as Lowell Steward s, Akira Miuri, John H Groove, and Telford Taylor show how effective oral histories can be. • 14. Love Not Legalism By Madeleine L Engle Love Not Legalism Madeleine L Engle was a fierce thought provoking writer. She challenged me as both a believer and a writer. Her scatterbrained writing style was relatable to me and so were the things she talked about. She would have been a wonderful wise woman to grab a meal with. She did not shy away from controversial topics; but instead, she introduced them. In Walking on Water L Engle sought to share the freedom available to us if we allow Jesus Christ to break us free from our chains. One of the topics that L Engle humbly addressed was the topic of legalism. I greatly appreciated this because I find that many world renowned leaders shy away from talking about it, when in reality it may be one of the enemy s most disguised tools. When people see God as an unapproachable killjoy, it becomes natural to grow distant from Him, and I know that before becoming a Christian this was the biggest stumbling block for me and I know some of the most kindhearted people cannot grasp the fact that God loves them and that He sent His one and only son to save them. L Engle also tackled the major misconception that God does not know how to laugh. He created humor and is pretty humorous himself. George MacDonald said, It is the Heart that is not yet sure of its God that is afraid to laugh in His presence (131). I am learning that more and more every day. Evaluation of perioperative variations in the levels of inflammatory markers in open reduction and internal fixation of maxillofacial fractures INTRODUCTION Infectious complications are commonly encountered following ORIF (Open reduction and internal fixation) ever since it has been adopted as a treatment modality for maxillofacial fractures. Early detection of infection can be difficult in the postoperative phase as many signs and symptoms may actually mimic a SIRS (Systemic inflammatory response syndrome). There is a wealth of literature supporting the use of various inflammatory markers in diagnosis and monitoring of treatment of infectious complications in post operative patients[1 4]. Various authors have studied markers including (Total leucocyte count) TLC, CRP(C reactive protein), AST (Aspartate Transaminase) and ALT (Alanine Transaminase) in patients with SIRS and sepsis [5]. Behaviour of inflammatory markers and their correlation to infection in the postoperative phase have been evaluated in various disciplines of surgery. • 18. Trials And Tribulations In Mental Health It has been noted by many that it is important for us to understand that the present is directly influenced by the past and it will directly influence the future. If we are to ignore the events that have led us to where we are then we are destined to repeat our often tragic and ill fated past. We also have no way of truly making a difference in the field of mental health if we are unable to build upon both the successes and the failures of those who have come before us (Gerig, 2014). This paper examines some of the literature written to detail the trials and tribulations in the mental health field from the early Greek times to present day in the hopes of gaining some perspective on both the past and the present treatments of and for the ... Deaf people are limited in some functions because of an impairment of hearing. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reports deaf individuals do not hear well enough to rely on their hearing to process speech and language; some individuals with mild to moderate hearing impairments may be hard of hearing but are not deaf (U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission). Goffman s (1963) understanding of stigma is the situation of persons who are unable to conform to standards that society calls normal. Thus, has led to Deafness being a label for disqualification to full social acceptance. This labelling entails a social judgment, with definition and meaning contested and liable to vary over time and between societies and cultures (Exploring Disability). Disabilities were seen as social problems as in a discrepancy between what is and what people think ought to be. This idea shifted away from a medical model to the idea of disability as a form of social deviance that focused on disability as a social status. In recent years, theorizing ideas such as the socio political approach incorporate the understanding and priorities of disabled people. While being deaf is considered by most to be a disability, others within the Deaf population have different aspects of Deafness as simply being a member of a visual communication based community rather than being a broken member of the community. With hearing assistive technology helping bridge the communication gap for those with hearing loss and further technology allowing them to communicate, many of those in the Deaf community have come to accept themselves for the versions they are and simply found an alternate path through this journey of life. Velocity can be explained as the speed of an object, but also including the direction the object is heading towards (Henderson, 2015). Giancoli states that the velocity of an object is taken with the magnitude the numerical value and the direction of the object (Giancoli, 2009). • 21. Voltage Instability Problems Play Power Systems Planning... Voltage instability problems play great role in power systems planning and operation. Nowadays, power systems are being performed closer to their steadiness limits due to economic and environmental constrains. Maintaining a fixed and secure operation of power system is hence a very vital and challenging issue. Therefore, it is highly suggested to take care of voltage stability especially in high enhanced networks as a consequence of heavier loading. Many researchers study the power system voltage stability from different points of view. The research progress is started with defining and identifying the voltage stability circumstances, factors, indices and problems. Some articles are performed to improve and enhance the voltage stability index [1] [4]. Also, many techniques are used in voltage instability detection [5 7]. The essential factors causing voltage instability are excessive loading of transmission lines, high transmission line losses, lack of reactive power supply, transmitting power over long distances and presence of non linear loads. As a result, many approaches have been created to identify critical power system, buses and lines. The largest concern to the electric utility industry is voltage stability. In this paper, Phasor information (magnitude and phase angle) is provided by Phasor Measurement Unit (PMU) technology [8, 9]. In this paper, Recurrent Neural Network (RNN) is used to detect the voltage instability, RNN is a powerful learning algorithm. Several ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 24. The Descriptive and Symbolic Conceptions in Social Studies 1) Symbolic forms are of vital importance in the social studies not only as an object and/or occurrence, whether naturally occurring or not, but it is also of significance in the socio contextual situation in which it is received. These symbolic forms can appear as actions and expressions, conversations, a variety of artifacts artifact being defined as an object made by a human being, typically holds cultural or historical significance and texts. (Thompson, 1990, pg. 122) (http://www.oxforddictionaries.com/definition/english/artefact) Everyone makes use of these symbolic forms on a daily basis to express themselves and their emotions in any variety of ways, while conforming to commonly accepted means of expression within that individuals society. By interpreting the reaction they evoke, they develop an understanding of the connotations associated with the symbols. Once they have learned the social context of the symbols they further their knowledge of each social background and its construct. For example the symbol of a crucifix and of a red rose are both simple items, with individual associations under different contextual situations which determine what relevance that item holds. The crucifix is an artifact holding religious significance, whereas a red rose is a naturally occurring object which has been assigned its association with love within specific societies. The associations attached to symbols is entirely dependent on its socio cultural context in which it is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The obtained X ray diffraction patterns confirmed the formation of a single phase cubic spinel structure for the ferrite samples with a crystallite size ranging from 25 34nm as reported earlier [16]. The X ray diffraction patterns were fitted using a Rietveld refinement procedure as shown in Fig 2 [17,18]. The fitted patterns were observed for eight peaks indexed by miller indices (220), (311), (222), (400), (422), (511) and (440), evident from the normal XRD patterns as reported earlier [16]. From the Fig 2 it is observed that sharpness in the peak is increased with an observed decrease in the width of the peak, which is the indication of the increase in particle size of the ferrite with the increase in Indium content. From the Fig 2 it is evident that observed patterns were exactly coinciding with the calculated values and the difference is very negligible. In comparison with the normal XRD patterns Rietveld patterns have shown some extra peaks of (331), (531), (422), (620), (533) and (622) which correspond to the second order impurity phase. The intensities of the impurity peaks reflect that the percentage of the impurity is negligible. • 27. Failure Of Socialism And Fascism The failure of Socialism and Fascism to make any significant positive impact in Britain contributed the overall decline in popular support during the early years after the Great War. Poor economic conditions were accepted with reluctance and a sense of little hope for substantial change within the political process. Social class ideology that contributed to failure finding common ground in the populations was ultimately overcome by the overall hatred of Fascism and the popular belief that violence was no longer acceptable in Britain. George Orwell provides the most convincing arguments why Socialism was failing and in his book The Road to Wigin Pier, we learn of the great economic challenges that many working class faces. Orwell suggests several reasons for the moderate response to the troubled economic conditions. He writes that many of the working had a sense of the inability to make change within society through the political process. When he questioned a working class person on why they would not form a union, Orwell quotes them stating he was immediately told that they would never allow it. I asked who are they.1 The working class had a feeling the current management and political system would discourage formation of any beneficial organization that was truly on the behalf of the workers. Orwell goes on to also point out that many of the working class may have not truly been aware of the actual conditions that they were living. When talking to a miner, ... • 28. Language and Syntax in Coriolanus Take Home Essay Language and Syntax in Coriolanus As William Shakespeare continued to write and create plays, he became more experiential with his language and rhetoric within them. Coriolanus, one of Shakespeare s final tragedies, exhibits a distinct syntax when compared with Titus Andronicus and Othello. Titus Andronicus was one of the first of Shakespeare s plays and his first tragedy. The play is characterized by classic verses, mainly in the iambic pentameter form. Shakespeare did not have the experience and artistic freedom he had when writing Coriolanus; he was emerging in London s theatre scene and played it safe by using a more traditional syntax structure. The language Shakespeare used in Othello was much more ornate and extravagant; like Titus Andronicus it is marked by many uninterrupted speeches and soliloquies. Coriolanus is much more modern like in the syntax than William Shakespeare s preceding tragedy plays. The choppiness of the speeches in Coriolanus is very unlike the formal, end stopped, verbose soliloquies and speeches in both Othello and Titus Andronicus. Both characteristics accomplish different effects in the plays the great, long speeches in the two tragedies prior to Coriolanus allow the audience or reader to hear the internal thoughts of the characters. In Act II, Scene IV of Titus Andronicus, the audience has an opportunity to collect Lavinia s emotion, after her rapists cut her tongue, by Marcus, her uncle s, long soliloquy after he ... The values of each era s society are superimposed on the descriptions of the sacrifice of Christ on the cross. Christ is depicted either as the model of the hero, prevalent in Old English literature, or as the embodiment of love and passion, as found in Showings by Julian of Norwich. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 21) Julian of Norwich, an anchoress of Saint Julian, received great visions of the crucifixion of Christ, on what was thought to be her deathbed. According to the Norton Anthology of English Literature, Sixth Ed., her revelation of these visions, Showings, is colored by her experience and temperament as an individual woman. Julian s depiction of the crucifixion describes Christ s love for humanity upon his crucifixion. This I took it for that time that our Lord Jesu of his courteous love would show me the comfort before the time of my temptation; for me thought it might well be that I should by the sufferance of God and with his keeping be tempted of fiends before I should die. (Norton Anthology of English Literature, Sixth Ed., p. 294) His choice to die upon the cross seems to be the necessity for the salvation of mankind, not as the manifestation of His inimitable honor and glory. The thanes of the heroic code are bound to their lord by honor. The Dream of the Rood affirms this powerful obligation as the author writes that when God visits us on judgment day, He will ask who would stand fast, unafraid, for Him, their real leader: Before his host he will ask where the man is who in the name of the Lord would taste bitter death as he did on the cross. (Norton Anthology of English Literature, Sixth Ed., p. 21). In addition, the lord is bound to his men. This ideal is continued within the chivalry of the Middle Ages. • 31. Investigating The Intrinsic Differences Among The... Abstract The following research paper tests and investigates the intrinsic differences among the two tasks present in the generation task and the affects it has on memory. We believe that the relation of generating a word compared to simply reading a word has a more lasting effect on the brain and its memory sensors. This experiment consisted of generated words or read words followed by a rule (associate, category, opposite, rhyme, synonym) in which the participant was given the first word and asked to read or generate the following word following the rule type. After a certain period of time the participants, which consisted of students currently enrolled at Texas A M, were asked to recall the words they generated or read. Results indicated that that when a word is generated it is recalled at a more accurate rate. This essay is geared to establish and report findings based on the phenomenon manifested among a vast amount of experiments over the years, the generation effect. While there were many informative articles which slightly applied to the generation effect no true conclusion is reached, therefore this essay attempts to compile all ideas to come to one solid finding. The generation effect was developed as a part of memory research, and it states that individuals tend to recall words that they personally generated better than words participants were given. Since this phenomenon has been an important part in many studies yet seemed to have no true solid ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
