Personal Narrative-Traumatic Stress
It was an oppressively hot and humid day (as usual) at Academy at the Lakes, and Mrs. Starkey was
giving a tour to a group of august looking potential investors for the next fundraiser. As she
approached the 'infamous' Room M–32, she began to feel nervous, and she began to speculate about
the devastating possibilities, an idiosyncratic habit of hers. With sweat in her hand, she grabbed the
door handle, and she, reluctantly, opened the door. Utter chaos. There were mad kids screaming at
each other, and kids hitting each other; the class behaved like a stochastic fractal. Some kids were
severely injured with broken bones and traumatizing hits to the head, and other kids were
defenestrated. Mrs. Frizzle was out of school (so was the magical school bus), but her students were
still in the classroom. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Medical Observation Paper
Today, I observed a procedure called a right video assisted thoracoscopy; possible thoracotomy, lung
biopsy. The surgeon was Dr. Cefali and the anesthesiologist was Dr. Patel.
Dr. Patel claimed that the patient's heart rate was little bit higher than usual. The patient was put to
sleep and we watched the heart rate slowly decrease. The heart rate was lowered, but was still kind
of faster than it should have been. The bed was raised and Dr. Patel laid the patient onto their left
side and strapped them down patient. Iodine was applied to the patient and prepared for surgery. Dr.
Cefali made an incision on the patient and began opening few wounds to allow an endoscope along
with some other tools. Dr. Cefali made another incision near the right

Summary Of Why We Cooperate By Michael Tomasello
All of our readings talked about how humans manage to live well together in social groups and how
they cooperate to get the best benefits possible. I will do my best to not only explain these views but
relate them all together. Reading through these stories again helped to clear up a lot of the main
ideas within each. Before getting into how they all connect we have to first have at least a brief
understanding of what they are trying to say. In Why We Cooperate by Michael Tomasello, we learn
psychological tendencies that would suggest how people can live together. Tomasello highlights the
ideas that humans naturally help, inform, share, as well as reciprocate. First Tomasello highlights
help. We are told that even at fourteen to eighteen months, children will ... Show more content on

This includes getting things that are out of reach or helping to open doors when the adult's hands are
full. Next Tomasello highlights informing. At as early as a 12 months old, some children were able
to provide information that was needed. If someone stapling papers left the room came back to find
the stapler gone, the children would point to wear the stapler had been moved to. Third Tomasello
highlights sharing. Tomasello talks about how children were more likely to share their food or
valued items than chimpanzees. Whereas chimpanzees don't seem to care much about whether or
not another chimpanzee has food or not, humans tend to want to even the playing field and make
sure the people around us are taken care of too. In the first chapter, the last point that Tomasello
highlights is Reciprocity and Norms. Children learn that in most situations, being not only helpful
but cooperative

A Heartbreaking Genius Eggers Analysis
John Van Den Anker
Thoughts and Memories
"Here is a drawing of a Stapler" (xlv). In A Heartbreaking Work of a Staggering Genius, Eggers
fabricates an unique narrative of intertwined thought and dialogue. The presence of the stapler
drawing at the end of the acknowledgements has a bifold meaning: it serves as a representation of
both his and the reader's relationships with the text. Eggers weaves together a narrative that includes
his genuine thoughts that oppose the "almost entirely reconstructed dialogue"(x). His focus on the
memory and reflection on the past dominate his factual retrospective perception which he subtly
conveys in the acknowledgements through graphs and a guide of symbols. The stapler, to the reader,
represents the job that Eggers relays to the reader–a job of connection. Throughout the novel, Eggers
employs a conundrum of dashes, run–on sentences, and jumbled diction to convey his true trajectory
of thought. As a contrast, the dialogue in the novel is succinct and ... Show more content on

By detaching from reality, Eggers creates an aura of magic realism and slight mysticism since
Dave's reality is harsh, yet his thoughts are limitless. When Eggers is forced to take his mother to the
hospital, he creates an image in his mind in which he spins a story of his mother's funeral after her
hypothetical at–home death. The narration of his thoughts is linked by dashes, incomplete ideas, and
an inconsistent line of thought. "Would that be enough time? What's enough time? We would talk a
lot. Yes... before Mom gets on the phone– ... all the people on the line at once– ... probably not,
definitely not, fuck–," (25). The dashes break the flow of ideas and show the fragmentation and
spontaneity of imagination. The three narrations in his head are: The family members to invite; The
way to host and organize the funeral; How to deal with his dying

Observation Of Surgical Equipment For Surgery
In Monday, Tuesday and Friday, the scheduled activities were the observation of surgical procedures
in the Methodist's MITIE center for advanced learning. These concerned the implementation of new
surgical equipment: an automatic stapler device with a movable neck, a new tridimensional
endoscope paired with live computerized tomography and upgraded daVinci surgical robot
cauterizing tools from different biomedical equipment companies; and their evaluation by actual
surgeons in a live animal and cadaver settings comparatively. These "primary evaluations" allow a
more comprehensive approach to the results of biomedical research and assess the viability of a
laboratory model in its translation to the medical world, in this case prototype ... Show more content

The 3D endoscope prototype was an improvement on existing models to be used in a trial designed
by a Ph.D. candidate, alongside 3D CT–generated images with the purpose of improving guidance
for hepatic surgery. This pairing proved unnecessary, as the CT scan was more effective when used
alone as expressed by the residents in surgery and surgeons that participated in the experiment, as
the simultaneous use of both devices was counterintuitive and impractical.
The daVinci tools proved more effective, even as the program designed by the laboratory for the
trials focused more on setup rather than actual use of the equipment. Even then, the surgeons had to
lead with unexpected bleeding due to mechanical constrains that prevented the proper handling of
tissues.
When such problems were addressed by the specialists, the researcher and the biomedical
representatives summarily dismissed them in the three scenarios. In the case of the stapler the
representatives focused instead in safety issues and the new movable neck, which only one surgeon
managed to use, as per directed by the representatives, during the trials. The data from the
endoscope trials was gathered by the researcher without consideration to the surgeons' concerns,
pending submission. The daVinci staff hailed the training as a success in spite of the problems that
arose during the procedure.
Wednesday and Thursday mornings were spent in the ICU, following an Intensivist making rounds
in the morning. This allows to

(FTC) which regulates advertising clamped down on New Balance saying the "Made in USA" label
cannot be used unless all or virtually all (98 percent) of the components and labor are of US origin.
New Balance shoes contain rubber ( 25 percent of shoe) not of US origin because rubber is not
grown in the United States. When New Balance complained that its shoes were the only ones still
100 percent assembled in the United State by the US workers out of all US parts except for rubber,
which is impossible to source in the United States the FTC backed down, ruling that "Made in the
USA" meant at–least 75 percent US parts and labor. But labor unions, consumer groups and 150
members of congress attacked the ruling saying it made the label deceptive because it should mean

Garage Sale Research Paper
If you're like most people, you can't resist a garage sale. There's something about going through
someone else's stuff or maybe it's the hunt, the hunt for a bargain. No matter what the reason, garage
sales are a great way to force yourself to sort through your things and get rid of some stuff – to
lighten your move – and make some money, money that can be used to haul the rest of your
belongings to your new place. As you've begun packing, you've probably already covered this step,
having sorted through your things and how to decide what to move and what to leave behind. But if
you're like me, you first go through really didn't cut down too much of the clutter. In fact, your "

seconds to recall, it goes into the " leave behind" pile. Just the fact that I'm asking myself this
question means the item can't be too important. And just because it has little importance to you,
doesn't mean that someone else won't treasure it. Even if you only have one item left from a set,
such as one glass, one plate or one candlestick, make sure you put it out for sale. People are always

Short Story
When I woke up that beautiful Saturday morning I remembered that my cousin was coming over to
help decorate our barn for Halloween. She had to do it for a service project with a friend; also she
had to work for five hours. I was excited at first but then I remembered the ladders. " Here are all the
decorations that I want up," Mom said, "and you have to put all of the garland up high so that none
of the teenagers will knock them down."
"That is a lot of garland. Do we have to put them all up?" I asked, hoping that we didn't have to put
up all six of them.
"It can't be that hard," Elena replied
"I know but I had plans to sleep all day," I said

I still wasn't alright with being up on the ladders. We were positioning the ladders and my mom
walked to check on us and said that we needed to move it way higher.
"Right here?" I asked moving it.
"No, I mean way higher," She said
"But we can't reach that high" Elena said, straining to get it any higher.
"Then move your ladders more," Mom said like it was so simple.
As we got down to move them I complained, "Mom we aren't tall enough to get the garland as high
as you want."
"Ok than you can work on something else for right now."
We got down from our ladders to work on the tables and we finally started to enjoy to ourselves.
After we had finished with the tables we went inside for a little bit of lunch and to get some hot
chocolate, but as we sat down to eat, I accidently dropped my plate. Luckily it landed right side up
on the table and it looked like nothing had happened. Elena started laughing so hard and soon,
everyone was laughing, including me.
After we had eaten and gone back up to the barn we decided to get all of the garland over with. I
slowly climbed up the ladder and I look down and felt a little light headed, then I looked up and saw
the wooden boards, that made me feel really dizzy. They looked like they were waiting for me to
just put a staple right through them so they could hold the beautiful garland in my hand. I started
reaching for the board to help stabilize myself and the ladder started to wobble, I sat down on the

Appropriate Workplace Signs
A safety issue includes making sure that appropriate signs are in place. For example, making sure
that a wet floor is near wet spot. If signs are not placed in their appropriate areas incidents may
occur where they could have easily been stopped. These are incredibly important also with correct
labelling. If someone is using spray that they thought was a cleansing spray but instead it's a
degreaser it may cause uncleanliness within the work place. A health issue includes is making sure
that workers are without illness when attending their jobs. If workers are sick with anything
contagious to those spreading their illness around the workplace will cause mayhem. An illness can
be spread through any source of contact so even if someone is working

baby but we all know she isn't due for another month. Since the infamous El Chapo is "in prison" in
Brooklyn and Ms. VanderVen is suddenly gone it seems like something is up. I have evidence to

What Are The Devices Used In The Rube Goldberg Machine
Two of the devices in the Rube Goldberg machine are the lever and the wheel & axle. The lever is a
device that reduces the amount of force needed to move an object, or lifting a load (fulcrum, force
and a load). An example of a lever would be a see–saw, a see–saw is a play ground equipment that
resembles a lever. This would be an example because it makes it easier to lift someone up who may
be heavier than an average child. Another example of the lever is a stapler, this is another example
because the staple also has fulcrum, effort and a load. The stapler works as a lever because of the
way it is used, the pivot point is in the back of the stapler, the force is where it is pressured, and the
load would be between the staple section and the

Classroom Reflection
While not every teacher teaches the exact same, there does exist a few, fairly common similarities
between those I was able to sit in on. Of these commonalities, there were positives and negatives.
Typically, one of the first things I noticed during observations of a "good" class was that from the
moment students entered the room they knew what to do. Out of the ten observed classes, eight used
some form of bell–ringer that was displayed before and during the ringing of the first bell. Yet, of
these eight, only four classes successfully engaged in the bell–ringer. Of these three, there was only
one that required the teacher's full input, which came in the form of reading the question. Even still,
the four classes that successfully started off the classroom's time with learning did so out of routine.
The two classes that did not use bell–ringers while I was observing did so voluntarily. One was
because the students were to be engaged in a Science project within the class, and the other was
because they were expecting to leave to take student yearbook pictures. Excluding the Science
outlier, classes that did not start off with a bell–ringer or some form of question/activity at the bell
tended not to transition as smoothly into lecture or the next planned activity. Now, while not every
classroom was hosting a project or some truly interactive activity, the students even during simple
discussion or direct teaching (which was the majority of observed classes) did better

Michael Scott The Office Essay
Yesterday in class, we watched the pilot episode of the TV show, "The Office". Michael Scott, the
regional manager of the Dunder Mifflin Scranton branch is a general upper manager (the highest
executive at the Scranton branch, in charge of all departments), who is in charge of line and staff
work (oversees sales and distribution, as well as financial operations). Michael certainly has an
unorthodox management method (calling himself a "friend first and a boss second"), and even acts
unprofessionally at times. For instance, he falsely tells his receptionist that she is being let go for
"theft" of Post–It notes, soon revealing that it was a joke. This leads to unprofessional behaviour
throughout the office, like one employee pranking another by putting their supplies in jello. He ...

Michael tries very hard to keep his employees through the company's downsizing, and does so
successfully. This is because he truly cares about his employees, wanting to create a happy and
comfortable work atmosphere, and believing that people are a company's most valuable resource.
He tries hard to make the new temporary worker feel comfortable and accepted (when he
compliments him on his pun). He also tries to diffuse and hear both sides of disputes (when Dwight
is mad at Jim for suspending his stapler in Jello). Although Michael's management methods are
unconventional and often irresponsible, the way he values his workers and puts their needs first is
admirable. Many managers are able to increase profit or cut expenses, but how many make a
genuine effort to help every employee feel more comfortable at work? This episode of 'The Office'
taught me that although my grades and overall performance are vital to success in this course, just as
important is how much I will connect and collaborate with my team

Ernst & Young: Processing Personal Tax Returns
INTRODUCTION The purpose of this memorandum is to illustrate the reason behind the
inefficiency of Ernst & Young when filing personal tax returns. In addition to a process map
indicating the process that the staff is required to go through and time each process takes, discussion
on how such process can be reengineered will follow. Finally, under the assumption that the
concurrent technological support is available, an analysis on the cost and benefits of new
information technology will be provided.
EVALUATION OF PROCESS Although Ernst &Young believes that extra checks in the office to
prepare personal tax returns build a key competitive advantage, the process in which it takes to
generate one personal tax return may be excessively ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It will also eliminate the time necessary for employees to make photocopies of information slips,
since such items would be scanned and stored in the database by full–time employees upon receipt.
The cost to install such a system may seem unaffordable while much effort is needed to keep it
updated, but with the growing market for Ernst & Young's services, the benefits will only outstrip
the costs, as it is already proven by the application of the system all over the world today.
CONCLUSION
In conclusion, it is obvious that the process in the London Office has created much inconvenience
and needs to be reengineered. Tax returns are no doubt an important part of the office to maintain
long–term relationships with other companies, and thus much focus is needed to increase efficiency
in both the long and the short term. While updated and complete software could not alleviate the
problem, it is the most efficient to acquire more capital hardware that will allow more capacity for

How To Make A Stapler Gun Essay
Being your own handyman is one of the best ways to keep your mind whirring and your body
pumping, while creating an outlet for your creativity. And of course, doing this does benefits for
your finances as well as do–it–yourself projects always come cheaper than actually hiring someone.
But sometimes, becoming your own handyman comes with its own risks. You might get away with
cut and bruises, some hammered fingernail, and some splinters to boot. The important thing that
should be remembered is having the right tools to make any project successful while escaping those
unnecessary wounds. Using tools like a heavy duty staple gun will make for a safer and smoother
project.
While the traditional and conventional way of joining things together is through the use of a hammer
and a nail, having a heavy duty staple gun around will go a long way for anyone. A stapler gun is a
small machine that can punch metal staples into different materials such as wood, fabric, and plastic.

Even artists who use canvas as their medium can find some use in owning a staple gun. When used
in painting, a canvas should be tightly stretched across the frame to produce high–quality art. With a
sturdy staple gun around, you can make sure that it will go through even the thickest of canvas and
put it tightly into place without having the need to readjust it again and again. And because you do

Why Is It Important To Wurk?
I tasted shoddy coffee from a company that had bankrupted years ago. We bought a huge order a
while ago, and our stock still hasn't run out. The coffee had aged so badly, they only gave it to us,
the interns. But that didn't matter; I was about to witness the first ever broadcast of color TV. I
couldn't decide if I felt excited, ecstatic, or overjoyed. I looked around to see the hundreds of
flashing monitors on the wall. All I could hear was the beeping, buzzing, and all around bustle. I
could practically smell the anticipation. Soon enough, we got going. Everything was working fine
until somebody called. "Hello, is this CBS?" they asked. "Yes," I responded, "how can I help you?"

This confused me until i remembered he was absent for the meeting we had recently. "All of your
supplies, are now your supplies for all," is what I began to say, quoting from the meeting, but then
something that never would have happened before color t.v. did. The stapler shot across the room
and hit my boss's cubicle wall, but that didn't stop it. Neither did my boss's head. The next day he
showed up, obviously unfit to work, but we were to desperate to let him go. I went home that day
thinking about this. I didn't even notice the letter from CBS. Until I did. Right there, in big bold
letters, LETTER OF DISMISSAL. I didn't know what to do. This internship was the only thing that
was going to get me forward. I could never live with being stuck in a dead end job forever like my
dad, and I was nowhere close to affording college. I moped around for the next month or so, but

The Importance Of Safe Spaces, By R Gervais Essay
Introduction
1.1 BACKGROUND:
Cultural awareness is an important aspect when determining cultural safety. Cultural awareness
allows individuals the ability to express themselves, as they like without their personal wellbeing
being threatened. Individuals cannot experience cultural safety without the creation of "safe space".
In a work example, a safe atmosphere may mean going to work and being able to feel comfortable
and not be emotionally, physically or psychologically harmed.
1.2 SCOPE:
This report will focus on acknowledging and identifying whether a place is considered safe or not. A
short clip of the office produced by R Gervais will be used as an example to depict what is
considered to be an unsafe work environment, both socially and culturally.
1.3 AIM:
The aim of this report is to explore and identify safe spaces, it will do this by providing a summary
of the example clip from the office, a description factors leading to the unsafe space, an analysis of
the example clip deeming it as safe or unsafe and lastly recommendations on ways to help improve
the safety of the workers where deemed appropriate.

What Is Amazon's Success?
Have you ever been so impressed with a purchase that you say to yourself, "Wow! I will definitely
shop here again." To me, that company is Amazon. This company is huge with customer service,
and also with their VOC's (Voice of Customer). It's all about research, the better reviews a company
has, the more likely new consumers will go there and take their business. First, I wanna say I'm a
huge amazon shopper. To me, this business is getting better and better by the day. Now I will say I
don't shop there every week. But I'm on it every day. By far, this is the one company that has deals
going on every day. I have only been upset a couple times. Since then, they have taken care of the
situation perfectly. One thing I tell people who are new ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They actually took Border's out of business. Amazon said to themselves, "Wow if we took Border's
out of business, I can imagine what it will be like if we sell more than just books." Which is why
now Amazon is one of the most recommended places to shop. They came up with their own logo
that just says "amazon", no capital letters. They included a smile underneath the word that goes from
A to Z. It signifies that amazon is willing to deliver everything to everyone, anywhere in the world.
Impressive, don't you think? They even sell things that have their own logo on it. For example, I
bought a stapler from them and it said "amazon basics". It was the most quietest and softest stapler I
ever used. I still use it to this day. For a company that started off selling books, It's impressive how
far they have come when they launched in 1995. It has been 22 years, and now they are still one of
the top, if not the top company in the world today. Personally, I think this is just the beginning for
Amazon. They have warehouses that have more square footage than 700 Madison Square Gardens.
That is very impressive! Lately they have opened up a few stores. They are more book stores than
anything. However, I think Amazon will soon open up more stores and sell more products
worldwide. Products from appliances to cars to houses. To me, it feels like Amazon is the future for
customers and for the world. Also, I wanna talk about Amazon's prices. To say that all of their

Reflection On Activity Game 2
Group Reflection Report
Activity Game II
GSE101
Group 2
23/11/2017
1. What group decision–making process was being followed in order to achieve the end result?
The following are the decision–making process that our group followed in order to achieve the end
result.
a) Identifying the Goal
b) Identify alternatives
c) Implementation of team decision
The members started to brain storm individually when lecturer gave us 5 minutes. We were not
allowed to discuss among the members before starting the game activity. As soon as sir set the time,
we started to discuss on how to build the tallest tower. The competition was with other 6 groups.
The team came up with time division. The group identified the goal to build the tallest tower ...

The time that we was given in the group was limited with only thirty minutes to build the tallest
tower. All the member managed the time carrying out different activities such as rolling the paper,
stabling the paper, building and passing the materials in constructing the tower which helped in
completing the tower before the given time.
4. What do you feel could have been improved in your group process in order to achieve an even
better end result?
To build the tallest paper tower with limited equipments and time is simpler but actually pretty hard
because it forces people to collaborate very quickly. To have some improvement in team work
process, the entire group member should know how to express their perception openly. The most
important in the team work is through existence of group coordinator who should take a task
dynamically and responsively. To make team process effective and efficient, following plan should
have handled properly to do the things differently in future:
 Encourage team members to share their ideas
Every member should encourage co–members to share their views and information openly. The
facilitator should highlight on each member's ideas and let them demonstrate how all of their ideas
will help in achieving the

The Diverticula Of The Sigmoid Colon
I watched a laparoscopic sigmoid colectomy performed to treat a perforation in the large intestines
caused by chronic diverticulitis at Sacred Heart Hospital. Diverticula are small pockets that form in
the intestinal wall, typically in the sigmoid and descending colon. In the patient I observed, the
diverticula of the sigmoid colon had become infected and ruptured, perforating, putting a hole in, the
large intestine. The patient had severe left lower quadrant pain that radiated across the abdomen,
exacerbated by palpation. The infection and perforation resulted in peritonitis, or the inflammation
of the abdominal wall, which caused this tenderness. Without surgical intervention, the patient
would likely have died. After waiting for a

Clipton Alternate Ending
It was a normal day in the Ogden Construction office. The sun was bright, the skies were clear and
the birds were flying. Suddenly, out of nowhere a bright shockwave of light passed through the early
morning setting. Soon after, a faint noise could be heard coming from the open drawer of the
company CEO, Ned's desk. The noise appeared to be the whispering of a raspy voice, almost as if it
hadn't been used before. Shortly after a soft higher pitched voice could be heard. In the drawer
where the voices had come from lay a stapler by the name of Stapleton, and a paper clip named
Clipton. "A... Are we alive?" asked Clipton 'I don't know," replied Stapleton. The duo noticed that
the door to Ned's office had been left just slightly ajar and decided that they were going to escape.
"How do we get out of this drawer?" questioned Clipton "Maybe we could usde my staples to create
a chain link and use it as a grappling hook!" Stapleton quickly responded as if he had already
thought about it. Stapleton assembled the chain link and lobbed it ... Show more content on

friend behind the nearest desk leg just in time. Ned walked in. Twenty minutes later he departed for

office supplies made a break for it and were almost to the door when a second shockwave, similar to

Weight Training Papers
Weight Training
What is weight training, why is it useful, and how to go about it? According to the online Merriam–
Webster Dictionary weight training is "a system of conditioning involving lifting weights especially
for strength and endurance". Weight training is often associated with athletes, and while this is not
incorrect, it's the health benefits for the everyday person that you rarely hear about. Some of these
being: Increasing our capacity for physical work, improves bone density, promotes lean muscle
mass, increases the strength of muscles and tendons helping to lower the risks for injuries, and helps
us to manage our weight which can help with both physical and emotional health. Ok so those
theoretically sound like good benefits but how does one go about acquiring them? The most
common route is heading to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If you don't have the ability to acquire these sometimes spendy fitness aides than it comes down to
how well can you improvise. There are things around the house and even at work that we can use as
substitutes. Did you ever think about using your canned corn as weights, or filling empty milk jugs
with sand or water, bags of rice, or jugs of laundry detergent? These are all things that most
households have lying around that could be used in place of weights. But what about those of us that
have a job that chains us to a desk for the majority of our work days? 8 hours is a long time to spend
sitting in a chair, add to that the usual snacking desire that accompanies sitting for lengths of time
and you get a recipe for loss of muscle strength. Some jobs might allow you to bring in dumbbells
and curl those at your desk in–between tasks, but in cases where that might not be possible almost
every office should always have staplers. That's right you can substitute staplers for dumbbells and
do this discreet weight training exercise in the comfort of your office, cubicle, or desk. Athlete or
not, perhaps it's time to consider if weight training

Social Class Vs Upper Class
In last Tuesday's class, the class in groups attempted to form the longest paper chain to obtain "extra
credit points". Every group had scissors, but some groups had tape, others had glue, and some had a
stapler. Groups who used glue had shorter paper chains than people who used tape or stapler. This
shows that having or not having certain resources affects the degree you obtain a goal, which
contributes to inequality among different groups in society. For education, the amount of resources
based on an individual's economic status impacts his or her academic success. If a person has a large
array of resources like private tutors and parents who are college graduates, he or she will be more
likely to be more successful academically, such as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Examples Of Psychosocial Assessment
Recently, I completed a psychosocial assessment on a patient in the PHRM/ISS program. She was
21 years old, pregnant with her fifth child. When she initially walked in she seemed pleasant. Then,
before we could get started she received a phone call. She politely asked could she step out and of
course I said sure. Immediately, after she walked back in she seemed anxious and annoyed as
evidence by her frowning and checking her phone every minute. Then, she would continue to say
yes and not pay attention to the questions that I was asking. After a while, this began to bother me.
This is because I would ask her a question and she would not answer or ask me to repeat myself.
Then, she made a comment stating that "it does not matter and she was ready to go because she was
upset." At that moment, I knew that I needed to take an assertive stance. Assertive Stance I was
unaware of what her phone call consisted of, and even why she was all of sudden upset; but I did
notice her body language and her nonverbal. However, when she stated that she was upset and was
ready to go; I had to acknowledge that. Therefore I stated, "Ms. Cooper (not her real name), I
understand that you are upset right now, would you like to talk more about what is bothering you?"
She continued to shake her head and say no. "Okay, well if you can answer these few ... Show more

Surgical Staplers Research Paper
The use of surgical staplers designed specifically for MIS is increasing along with their application
to more wide–ranging procedures due to their design evolution. Enhanced features and safety of
surgical stapling devices encourages such increase in use and application. It is necessary to
characterize the nature and frequency of the issues associated with these devices in order to prevent
further complication by contributing to user and designer knowledge as the technology for device
and surgical procedures advance. The reported malfunctions accounted for a majority of the adverse
events retrieved from the FDA's MAUDE database as there were significantly more malfunctions
than the number of injury and death reports combined. In general, the number of malfunctions has
increased while the number of reported injuries has decreased over the past decade. This trend may
indicate enhanced safety features of the device design and increased user familiarity with the device.
Filling the knowledge gap regarding proper surgical stapling device use in the operating room can
decrease the amount of severe injuries that may result from use. With education and experience,
recognition of a failure mode from device or user error could emerge earlier and prevent an ... Show

Personal Narrative: My Experience With The National Honor...
Although I have been faced with a number of obstacles that have changed me as a person or that I
have learned a great amount from, there is one in particular that has given me knowledge and
confidence to handle other situations I may encounter in my career. I was faced with this very
strange and unexpected conflict in the middle of my junior year of high school. I was attacked by a
girl who suffers from Down syndrome while volunteering with the National Honor Society. I was
able to handle the situation on my own and was shown the importance of second chances.
The incident occurred around Valentine's Day when five members of the National Honor
Society, including myself, volunteered to help special needs students make Valentine's Day cards.
Even though all went well while we were making the cards, the students we were working with were
then asked to "buddy up" with one of the volunteers to hang up posters around the school. A girl
named Tiffany, who suffers from Down syndrome, chose me as her partner so the two of us
proceeded to walk around the school. After about ten minutes, Tiffany seized the stapler I was
carrying and attempted to staple my hair. I responsibly left the stapler in an office as to avoid an

Rube Goldberg Machine Research Paper
Rube Goldberg Machine Task The simple task is to staple paper by using a Rube Goldberg machine,
which has 5 different forms of energy. Energy Process The Rube Goldberg machine begins with a
speaker that is plugged in, and this speaker will use electricity, which is electrical energy, to create
sound, which is sound energy. The electrical energy is in the potential form when it is stored in the

flows into the speaker, which is used to create sound from the speaker. The sound energy is in its

The weight of the marble in the container will cause the elevated side of the seesaw to lower, and the
other side to be lighter and elevate, which is mechanical energy. The mechanical energy is in its
potential form when the seesaw isn't moving, and when it is moving then it is in its kinetic form.
The other side of the seesaw has an object, which when elevated will hit a platform, which has a
marble placed on top of it. When the platform receives enough force to be raised, then the marble
will roll down the slanted platform, which is gravitational energy. The gravitational energy is in its

We had a good and bad news with the colds Allyson was feeling worst with a sore throat and
decided for the second day to not talk (I could say so much about that but will not) and I was feeling
100% better than yesterday. We had breakfast at the lodge cafe which was quick and easy before
heading off to the Denali lodge. Similar start to the previous day with forest tress obstructing our
wonderful views of the rugged mountains. After a little while as we climbed a little higher the trees

We were told that bears frequently walk through the forest near the cabin and to stay in groups as
bears will unlikely attack several humans at once. One of my buddies at work told me if I see a bear
make sure your not the slowest runner, good advice but our tour guide told us running is the worst
thing you can do, as the bear thinks your fair game and they can run faster than us humans. The
advice was to stay put if a bear is coming towards you, that's of course if you cannot seek to shelter,
make yourself as big as possible and talk very loud. Luckily we didn't need to use our newly learned
skills although it would be good to see a grizzly from a distance. We continued our tour along Park
Road spotting caribou and more moose before hitting the turnaround spot, taking some photos and
heading back. On the way we stopped to meet a native Alaskan girl, she was 20 years old and grow
up in Fairbanks. She works as a translator between her local native peoples and English speaking
people. Towards the end she sang a lovely song that people have sang for many generations. We
continued our travels and just before we exited the park a moose was walking beside the road and
we got really good photos, we have now seen hundreds of bison and many moose over the course of
the trip, where are the grizzly bears??? We arrived back at the lodge after 7pm and Allyson was still

Clinical Reflection
During this last week of this clinical rotation in the main OR, I planned on learning crucial
information that even though is not used in a other settings, it could be very beneficial to know. This
information includes how surgeries are done, what are the instruments used and how are they
different between specialties. Additionally, I was planning on the opportunity of handing
instruments to the surgeons.
On Monday, I was assigned to the neurology OR. There were a total of 4 surgeries for the whole
day. these surgeries were focused on releasing the carpal tunnel nerve, and doing ulnar nerve
decompression as well. According to the surgeon, in a carpal tunnel release surgery the transverse
carpal ligament is cut, which releases pressure on the median nerve and relieves the symptoms of
carpal tunnel syndrome. These symptoms include numbness and tingling in the hand and arm. An
ulnar nerve decompression is done when there is a compression of the nerve in the elbow, causing
pain, tingling, or numbness in the hands. For both surgeries, the preparation of the patient was the
same. ChloraPrep was used to clean the arm, and a special wrapping was used to cover it
completely. The extremity was positioned and supported in a slate. Both surgeries were very simple
and didn't take too much time to be finished. There were a few instruments used and most of them
were small and delicate. On the second day, I had the opportunity to scrub in and help the surgical
technologist pass the

A Brief Summary Of My Body, My Shame By Elwood Reid
In the personal narrative "My Body, My Weapon, My Shame," Elwood Reid retells his experience
playing football for a Big Ten college. He goes through practice with intense ferocity and cares little
about physically abusing his body. However, despite his strength and athletic prowess, the coaches
only view him as something of their possession rather than a human being. From the practices to the
training room to the parties, Reid describes with reluctance and candor the sad reality of belonging
to someone else. As a football player who lends his body out every single play, from whistle to
whistle, enduring the pain and fatigue from both physical and mental abuse, he does not even get the
satisfaction of being called a human. Through similes and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The use of marketplace is unique because it signifies, yet again, the concept of being owned and
sold. Here is Elwood Reid, an individual that comes from Cleveland who has a background and
history. Yet, like the rest of his teammates, he becomes branded by the system. With labels such as
"Flat–Ass Phil" or "Sweet Lou Reid," the "cows" are identified by their nicknames, an effective way
of dehumanizing them (68). By calling each other un–characteristic names, they distance themselves
from each other, making it easier for them to inflict pain upon each other. Naturally, nicknames are a
means of forming camaraderie between people, but in this case, it is the exact opposite. In Reid's
situation, the nicknames contain heavy derogatory notions. Rather than to make someone feel proud
or special about their characteristics, the teammates pinpoint a trait about each other and use it as a
bullying tactic. Names such as "Pin Dick" and "Dead Fuck" do not create a sense of warmth and
friendship and instead seems more of a way for the players to ridicule each other (68). This
psychological tactic will make it easier for them to accept their fate when better players replace
them. Like cows on the grazing field, the football players are all going through the same artificial
selection as a group. But one key difference that

Personal Narrative-Traumatic Stress

  • 1. Personal Narrative-Traumatic Stress It was an oppressively hot and humid day (as usual) at Academy at the Lakes, and Mrs. Starkey was giving a tour to a group of august looking potential investors for the next fundraiser. As she approached the 'infamous' Room M–32, she began to feel nervous, and she began to speculate about the devastating possibilities, an idiosyncratic habit of hers. With sweat in her hand, she grabbed the door handle, and she, reluctantly, opened the door. Utter chaos. There were mad kids screaming at each other, and kids hitting each other; the class behaved like a stochastic fractal. Some kids were severely injured with broken bones and traumatizing hits to the head, and other kids were defenestrated. Mrs. Frizzle was out of school (so was the magical school bus), but her students were still in the classroom. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Starkey and dropped the chair: a tacit ... The surgeon was Dr. Cefali and the anesthesiologist was Dr. Patel. Dr. Patel claimed that the patient's heart rate was little bit higher than usual. The patient was put to sleep and we watched the heart rate slowly decrease. The heart rate was lowered, but was still kind of faster than it should have been. The bed was raised and Dr. Patel laid the patient onto their left side and strapped them down patient. Iodine was applied to the patient and prepared for surgery. Dr. Cefali made an incision on the patient and began opening few wounds to allow an endoscope along with some other tools. Dr. Cefali made another incision near the right ... • 13. Summary Of Why We Cooperate By Michael Tomasello All of our readings talked about how humans manage to live well together in social groups and how they cooperate to get the best benefits possible. I will do my best to not only explain these views but relate them all together. Reading through these stories again helped to clear up a lot of the main ideas within each. Before getting into how they all connect we have to first have at least a brief understanding of what they are trying to say. In Why We Cooperate by Michael Tomasello, we learn psychological tendencies that would suggest how people can live together. Tomasello highlights the ideas that humans naturally help, inform, share, as well as reciprocate. First Tomasello highlights help. We are told that even at fourteen to eighteen months, children will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This includes getting things that are out of reach or helping to open doors when the adult's hands are full. Next Tomasello highlights informing. At as early as a 12 months old, some children were able to provide information that was needed. If someone stapling papers left the room came back to find the stapler gone, the children would point to wear the stapler had been moved to. Third Tomasello highlights sharing. Tomasello talks about how children were more likely to share their food or valued items than chimpanzees. Whereas chimpanzees don't seem to care much about whether or not another chimpanzee has food or not, humans tend to want to even the playing field and make sure the people around us are taken care of too. In the first chapter, the last point that Tomasello highlights is Reciprocity and Norms. Children learn that in most situations, being not only helpful but cooperative ... • 17. A Heartbreaking Genius Eggers Analysis John Van Den Anker Thoughts and Memories "Here is a drawing of a Stapler" (xlv). In A Heartbreaking Work of a Staggering Genius, Eggers fabricates an unique narrative of intertwined thought and dialogue. The presence of the stapler drawing at the end of the acknowledgements has a bifold meaning: it serves as a representation of both his and the reader's relationships with the text. Eggers weaves together a narrative that includes his genuine thoughts that oppose the "almost entirely reconstructed dialogue"(x). His focus on the memory and reflection on the past dominate his factual retrospective perception which he subtly conveys in the acknowledgements through graphs and a guide of symbols. The stapler, to the reader, represents the job that Eggers relays to the reader–a job of connection. Throughout the novel, Eggers employs a conundrum of dashes, run–on sentences, and jumbled diction to convey his true trajectory of thought. As a contrast, the dialogue in the novel is succinct and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By detaching from reality, Eggers creates an aura of magic realism and slight mysticism since Dave's reality is harsh, yet his thoughts are limitless. When Eggers is forced to take his mother to the hospital, he creates an image in his mind in which he spins a story of his mother's funeral after her hypothetical at–home death. The narration of his thoughts is linked by dashes, incomplete ideas, and an inconsistent line of thought. "Would that be enough time? What's enough time? We would talk a lot. Yes... before Mom gets on the phone– ... all the people on the line at once– ... probably not, definitely not, fuck–," (25). The dashes break the flow of ideas and show the fragmentation and spontaneity of imagination. The three narrations in his head are: The family members to invite; The way to host and organize the funeral; How to deal with his dying ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 21. Observation Of Surgical Equipment For Surgery In Monday, Tuesday and Friday, the scheduled activities were the observation of surgical procedures in the Methodist's MITIE center for advanced learning. These concerned the implementation of new surgical equipment: an automatic stapler device with a movable neck, a new tridimensional endoscope paired with live computerized tomography and upgraded daVinci surgical robot cauterizing tools from different biomedical equipment companies; and their evaluation by actual surgeons in a live animal and cadaver settings comparatively. These "primary evaluations" allow a more comprehensive approach to the results of biomedical research and assess the viability of a laboratory model in its translation to the medical world, in this case prototype ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The 3D endoscope prototype was an improvement on existing models to be used in a trial designed by a Ph.D. candidate, alongside 3D CT–generated images with the purpose of improving guidance for hepatic surgery. This pairing proved unnecessary, as the CT scan was more effective when used alone as expressed by the residents in surgery and surgeons that participated in the experiment, as the simultaneous use of both devices was counterintuitive and impractical. The daVinci tools proved more effective, even as the program designed by the laboratory for the trials focused more on setup rather than actual use of the equipment. Even then, the surgeons had to lead with unexpected bleeding due to mechanical constrains that prevented the proper handling of tissues. When such problems were addressed by the specialists, the researcher and the biomedical representatives summarily dismissed them in the three scenarios. In the case of the stapler the representatives focused instead in safety issues and the new movable neck, which only one surgeon managed to use, as per directed by the representatives, during the trials. The data from the endoscope trials was gathered by the researcher without consideration to the surgeons' concerns, pending submission. The daVinci staff hailed the training as a success in spite of the problems that arose during the procedure. Wednesday and Thursday mornings were spent in the ICU, following an Intensivist making rounds in the morning. This allows to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When New Balance complained that its shoes were the only ones still 100 percent assembled in the United State by the US workers out of all US parts except for rubber, which is impossible to source in the United States the FTC backed down, ruling that "Made in the USA" meant at–least 75 percent US parts and labor. There's something about going through someone else's stuff or maybe it's the hunt, the hunt for a bargain. No matter what the reason, garage sales are a great way to force yourself to sort through your things and get rid of some stuff – to lighten your move – and make some money, money that can be used to haul the rest of your belongings to your new place. As you've begun packing, you've probably already covered this step, having sorted through your things and how to decide what to move and what to leave behind. She had to do it for a service project with a friend; also she had to work for five hours. I was excited at first but then I remembered the ladders. " Here are all the decorations that I want up," Mom said, "and you have to put all of the garland up high so that none of the teenagers will knock them down." "That is a lot of garland. Do we have to put them all up?" I asked, hoping that we didn't have to put up all six of them. As we got down to move them I complained, "Mom we aren't tall enough to get the garland as high as you want." "Ok than you can work on something else for right now." We got down from our ladders to work on the tables and we finally started to enjoy to ourselves. After we had finished with the tables we went inside for a little bit of lunch and to get some hot chocolate, but as we sat down to eat, I accidently dropped my plate. The lever is a device that reduces the amount of force needed to move an object, or lifting a load (fulcrum, force and a load). An example of a lever would be a see–saw, a see–saw is a play ground equipment that resembles a lever. This would be an example because it makes it easier to lift someone up who may be heavier than an average child. Another example of the lever is a stapler, this is another example because the staple also has fulcrum, effort and a load. • 62. Classroom Reflection While not every teacher teaches the exact same, there does exist a few, fairly common similarities between those I was able to sit in on. Of these commonalities, there were positives and negatives. Typically, one of the first things I noticed during observations of a "good" class was that from the moment students entered the room they knew what to do. Out of the ten observed classes, eight used some form of bell–ringer that was displayed before and during the ringing of the first bell. Yet, of these eight, only four classes successfully engaged in the bell–ringer. Of these three, there was only one that required the teacher's full input, which came in the form of reading the question. Even still, the four classes that successfully started off the classroom's time with learning did so out of routine. The two classes that did not use bell–ringers while I was observing did so voluntarily. One was because the students were to be engaged in a Science project within the class, and the other was because they were expecting to leave to take student yearbook pictures. Excluding the Science outlier, classes that did not start off with a bell–ringer or some form of question/activity at the bell tended not to transition as smoothly into lecture or the next planned activity. Now, while not every classroom was hosting a project or some truly interactive activity, the students even during simple discussion or direct teaching (which was the majority of observed classes) did better ... • 66. Michael Scott The Office Essay Yesterday in class, we watched the pilot episode of the TV show, "The Office". Michael Scott, the regional manager of the Dunder Mifflin Scranton branch is a general upper manager (the highest executive at the Scranton branch, in charge of all departments), who is in charge of line and staff work (oversees sales and distribution, as well as financial operations). Michael certainly has an unorthodox management method (calling himself a "friend first and a boss second"), and even acts unprofessionally at times. For instance, he falsely tells his receptionist that she is being let go for "theft" of Post–It notes, soon revealing that it was a joke. This leads to unprofessional behaviour throughout the office, like one employee pranking another by putting their supplies in jello. He ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Michael tries very hard to keep his employees through the company's downsizing, and does so successfully. This is because he truly cares about his employees, wanting to create a happy and comfortable work atmosphere, and believing that people are a company's most valuable resource. He tries hard to make the new temporary worker feel comfortable and accepted (when he compliments him on his pun). He also tries to diffuse and hear both sides of disputes (when Dwight is mad at Jim for suspending his stapler in Jello). Although Michael's management methods are unconventional and often irresponsible, the way he values his workers and puts their needs first is admirable. Many managers are able to increase profit or cut expenses, but how many make a genuine effort to help every employee feel more comfortable at work? This episode of 'The Office' taught me that although my grades and overall performance are vital to success in this course, just as important is how much I will connect and collaborate with my team ... • 70. Ernst & Young: Processing Personal Tax Returns INTRODUCTION The purpose of this memorandum is to illustrate the reason behind the inefficiency of Ernst & Young when filing personal tax returns. In addition to a process map indicating the process that the staff is required to go through and time each process takes, discussion on how such process can be reengineered will follow. Finally, under the assumption that the concurrent technological support is available, an analysis on the cost and benefits of new information technology will be provided. EVALUATION OF PROCESS Although Ernst &Young believes that extra checks in the office to prepare personal tax returns build a key competitive advantage, the process in which it takes to generate one personal tax return may be excessively ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It will also eliminate the time necessary for employees to make photocopies of information slips, since such items would be scanned and stored in the database by full–time employees upon receipt. The cost to install such a system may seem unaffordable while much effort is needed to keep it updated, but with the growing market for Ernst & Young's services, the benefits will only outstrip the costs, as it is already proven by the application of the system all over the world today. CONCLUSION In conclusion, it is obvious that the process in the London Office has created much inconvenience and needs to be reengineered. Tax returns are no doubt an important part of the office to maintain long–term relationships with other companies, and thus much focus is needed to increase efficiency in both the long and the short term. While updated and complete software could not alleviate the problem, it is the most efficient to acquire more capital hardware that will allow more capacity for inputs and ... And of course, doing this does benefits for your finances as well as do–it–yourself projects always come cheaper than actually hiring someone. But sometimes, becoming your own handyman comes with its own risks. You might get away with cut and bruises, some hammered fingernail, and some splinters to boot. The coffee had aged so badly, they only gave it to us, the interns. But that didn't matter; I was about to witness the first ever broadcast of color TV. I couldn't decide if I felt excited, ecstatic, or overjoyed. I looked around to see the hundreds of flashing monitors on the wall. All I could hear was the beeping, buzzing, and all around bustle. "All of your supplies, are now your supplies for all," is what I began to say, quoting from the meeting, but then something that never would have happened before color t.v. did. Cultural awareness allows individuals the ability to express themselves, as they like without their personal wellbeing being threatened. Some of these being: Increasing our capacity for physical work, improves bone density, promotes lean muscle mass, increases the strength of muscles and tendons helping to lower the risks for injuries, and helps us to manage our weight which can help with both physical and emotional health. The electricity flows into the speaker, which is used to create sound from the speaker. The sound energy is in its potential form when the speaker is turned off, and when it is turned on and is creating sound, then it is in its kinetic form. The sound creates vibrations which cause the marble to roll off ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The weight of the marble in the container will cause the elevated side of the seesaw to lower, and the other side to be lighter and elevate, which is mechanical energy. The mechanical energy is in its potential form when the seesaw isn't moving, and when it is moving then it is in its kinetic form. The other side of the seesaw has an object, which when elevated will hit a platform, which has a marble placed on top of it. When the platform receives enough force to be raised, then the marble will roll down the slanted platform, which is gravitational energy. The gravitational energy is in its potential form when the marble is on the platform, and when the marble is rolling down the slanted platform, then it is in its kinetic form. The rolling marble will hit a domino and this will cause the domino to fall and hit another domino, which is gravitational energy, and this chain reaction will stop when the last domino has fallen. The gravitational energy is in its potential form when the dominoes are standing, and when the dominoes are falling, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Essay On The First Day At The Denali Lodge We had a good and bad news with the colds Allyson was feeling worst with a sore throat and decided for the second day to not talk (I could say so much about that but will not) and I was feeling 100% better than yesterday. We had breakfast at the lodge cafe which was quick and easy before heading off to the Denali lodge. Similar start to the previous day with forest tress obstructing our wonderful views of the rugged mountains. After a little while as we climbed a little higher the trees spread out and the beautiful mountains appeared in full view. During our coach ride we stopped a couple times to step off and take photos, the scenery was becoming more desert like with few trees and mainly small scrub with rivers and fresh snow cap ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We were told that bears frequently walk through the forest near the cabin and to stay in groups as bears will unlikely attack several humans at once. One of my buddies at work told me if I see a bear make sure your not the slowest runner, good advice but our tour guide told us running is the worst thing you can do, as the bear thinks your fair game and they can run faster than us humans. The advice was to stay put if a bear is coming towards you, that's of course if you cannot seek to shelter, make yourself as big as possible and talk very loud. Luckily we didn't need to use our newly learned skills although it would be good to see a grizzly from a distance. We continued our tour along Park Road spotting caribou and more moose before hitting the turnaround spot, taking some photos and heading back. On the way we stopped to meet a native Alaskan girl, she was 20 years old and grow up in Fairbanks. She works as a translator between her local native peoples and English speaking people. Towards the end she sang a lovely song that people have sang for many generations. We continued our travels and just before we exited the park a moose was walking beside the road and we got really good photos, we have now seen hundreds of bison and many moose over the course of the trip, where are the grizzly bears??? We arrived back at the lodge after 7pm and Allyson was still ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Clinical Reflection During this last week of this clinical rotation in the main OR, I planned on learning crucial information that even though is not used in a other settings, it could be very beneficial to know. This information includes how surgeries are done, what are the instruments used and how are they different between specialties. Additionally, I was planning on the opportunity of handing instruments to the surgeons. On Monday, I was assigned to the neurology OR. There were a total of 4 surgeries for the whole day. these surgeries were focused on releasing the carpal tunnel nerve, and doing ulnar nerve decompression as well. According to the surgeon, in a carpal tunnel release surgery the transverse carpal ligament is cut, which releases pressure on the median nerve and relieves the symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome. These symptoms include numbness and tingling in the hand and arm. An ulnar nerve decompression is done when there is a compression of the nerve in the elbow, causing pain, tingling, or numbness in the hands. For both surgeries, the preparation of the patient was the same. ChloraPrep was used to clean the arm, and a special wrapping was used to cover it completely. The extremity was positioned and supported in a slate. Both surgeries were very simple and didn't take too much time to be finished. There were a few instruments used and most of them were small and delicate. On the second day, I had the opportunity to scrub in and help the surgical technologist pass the ... He goes through practice with intense ferocity and cares little about physically abusing his body. However, despite his strength and athletic prowess, the coaches only view him as something of their possession rather than a human being. From the practices to the training room to the parties, Reid describes with reluctance and candor the sad reality of belonging to someone else. As a football player who lends his body out every single play, from whistle to whistle, enduring the pain and fatigue from both physical and mental abuse, he does not even get the satisfaction of being called a human. Through similes and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The use of marketplace is unique because it signifies, yet again, the concept of being owned and sold. Here is Elwood Reid, an individual that comes from Cleveland who has a background and history. Yet, like the rest of his teammates, he becomes branded by the system. With labels such as "Flat–Ass Phil" or "Sweet Lou Reid," the "cows" are identified by their nicknames, an effective way of dehumanizing them (68). By calling each other un–characteristic names, they distance themselves from each other, making it easier for them to inflict pain upon each other. Naturally, nicknames are a means of forming camaraderie between people, but in this case, it is the exact opposite. In Reid's situation, the nicknames contain heavy derogatory notions. Rather than to make someone feel proud or special about their characteristics, the teammates pinpoint a trait about each other and use it as a bullying tactic. Names such as "Pin Dick" and "Dead Fuck" do not create a sense of warmth and friendship and instead seems more of a way for the players to ridicule each other (68). This psychological tactic will make it easier for them to accept their fate when better players replace them. Like cows on the grazing field, the football players are all going through the same artificial selection as a group. But one key difference that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 155. Classroom Monologue Monologue Miss Joanne, it's apparent that you have clearly no idea why you aren't the treasured teacher you think you are. Actually.. you know what? I lied. To be completely honest, it's apparent that the art of trust and opinion is demolished when confronting you. Yourself, thinks of you as the heart of Americanism, but isn't the gigantic thing about America, "freedom of speech". (pauses to listen to Miss Joanne) Oh, it's not appropriate to have this discussion in the classroom? Well, personally I and plenty other students find your work rather unprofessional and a downright putdown to students attempting to learn, and not be distracted by your keen instincts to become angry at somebody using a pen to write notes. My fellow classmates also ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
