What Was The Market Revolution Between 1840-1840 Essay
What was the Market Revolution between the years of 1800 1840 all about? After winning the
presidential elections in 1800, President Jefferson was determined to secure the nation and develop the
market. He initiated improvements in roads, railroads, and canals. Consequently, the development in
cotton kingdom led to the rise of the West as a powerful nation. The slavery trade also improved and
became more organized. The revolution was also characterized by the growth of Chicago and
Cincinnati cities. In 1814, the first large scale factory was established in Waltham, Massachusetts. The
economic improvements led to an influx of immigrants and traders in the major cities, and nativism
due to the conflicts. Transformation Laws were implemented to control business and peace in the
West. Additionally, the religion also improved as people celebrated self improvement, self
determination, and self reliance. Entry 2 What did the Democracy in America between the years of
1815 1840 consist of? Democracy was associated with the abolition of the property requirement for a
person to vote. Blacks, however, were still considered as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By 1840s, the abolition of slave trade became the center of American politics both at the state and
national levels. Consequently, the Mexican frontier that led to the freedom of Spain colonies and
formation of New Mexico and California was established in 1821. However, in the election of 1844,
issues of slavery influenced presidential elections where other politicians demanded the acquisition of
Mexico after Spain pulled off their acquisition. War with Mexico had divided opinions as non
supporters claimed that the main intention was to gain more land for slavery. In 1846 after the
acquisition, Congressman David Wilmot made the proposal that prohibited slaves in the New Mexico.
Further, government decisions that had divided opinions were the trade treaty with Japan, Indians, and

Current Sources Of The State Of Indonesia
In Indonesia, petroleum is one of the main sources of the state revenues. It is also a very important
strategic commodity and often as political issue. The revenues from oil and gas have driven the
economic growth and contributed significantly for the development of Indonesia. In the world,
legislations which regulate oil and gas are varies from country to country. In spite of many variations,
in general, the upstream oil and gas activities, based on two systems, the production sharing contracts
and the licensing systems. Indonesia was the country that introduced the concept of production sharing
contracts in 1966 (Bindemann, 1999).
After the verdict of Indonesian Constitutional Court in 2012 on The Oil and Gas Law, some of the
articles were unconstitutional and not legally binding. As a result, the government and the parliament
want to revise the oil and gas law and led to the ideas of replacing the production sharing contract with
the licensing system. Nevertheless, before Indonesia adopts the new system, many aspects should be
considered in designing legislations. Some of the aspects are the concept of natural resources
ownership, revenues for the state, and attractiveness for the investors.
Mean while, as the owner of natural resources, the government has the rights to control and regulate
petroleum resources. The government would also have to balance its demand for maximizing the
revenues from oil and gas and adverse effect on investment climate. Thus, it should be

conversation and the audience finds out that Gloucester has two sons. Edgar who is his heir, and
Edmund his unimportant son. This info. leads to the mini plot. Then, Lear enters to say that he is
going to end his life s tasks and problems. He then points to the map, he tells the people there that he
will split his land into three parts. They are going to be given to his three daughters. The two oldest,
Goneril and Regan, tell their father that their love for him goes beyond expectations. The youngest

Goneril tells Lear that he needs a smaller troop, more decorous in behavior and better suited to the
king s rank and age. The king is very angry and says he will pack up his people and move to Regan s
palace. Lear s anger continues to build, and he calls upon nature to curse Goneril s womb. In response,
Goneril turns out 50 of Lear s retinue. As the subplot develops, Edmund wounds himself slightly,
pretending that Edgar has attacked him. Certain that Edgar will also try to kill him, Gloucester
promises to find the means to make Edmund his heir. After his escape into the woods, Edgar decides
that he will disguise himself as a Bedlam beggar, who will be known as Poor Tom. Meanwhile,
Cornwall orders an impassioned Kent placed in the stocks. Lear arrives and quickly realizes that
Regan has joined Goneril in seeking to reduce Lear s authority. Lear reminds his daughters that he
gave them all that they now enjoy, but they are unmoved. An angry Lear calls for his horse, and rides
into the storm with his Fool for protection. Exposed to the storm, the Fool attempts to reason with his
king, but Lear will have no part of submission, especially before his daughters. Soon the king and
Fool are joined by Edgar disguised as Poor Tom. Gloucester tells Edmund of the plot to save the king,
unaware that he is divulging the plans to a traitor. Edmund immediately resolves to tell Cornwall of
the plan. Edmund soon receives his reward: Gloucester s title and lands. The captured

Molar Mass Of Butane And Unknown
Molar Mass of Butane and unknown
Abstract:
The purpose of this lab is to find the molar mass of mixed gases in a lighter, and to calculate the exact
mixture of gases in the lighter. The results of this lab were the mass of the lighter, as 100 mL of water
was displaced, was 0.27g, 0.17g, and 0.28g. The molar masses of the gasses for three trials were 64.3
g/mol, 40.5 g/mol, and 66.7 g/mol.
Background:
The purpose of this lab is to find the molar mass of mixed gases in a lighter, and to calculate the exact
mixture of gases in the lighter. While collecting the volume of Butane gas in a lighter, the molar mass
can also be determined. When attempting to find the molar mass, water displacement is the best
method to use. This can be determined because the equal volumes of all gases contain equal number of
particles, so long as they are measured at the same temperature and pressure. Ideal gas law is the
chemistry involved with this experiment. The equations M=mRT/PV and PV=nRT can be seen
throughout this experiment.
Pre Lab questions:
The Ideal gas law demonstrates a relationship between different values in the equation PV=nRT. The
ideal gas law will be used to find the molar mass of butane.
The ideal gas law can be changed with the equation n=m/M. It can be seen that moles equals mass
over molar mass. This can be changed, and substituted into the Ideal gas law to find the molar mass.
The equation goes from PV=nRT to M=mRT/PV.
Molar Mass is the mass of a given substance. It

The Basic Idea Of Hadoop
Basic Idea : Parallelization
The Basic idea in Hadoop is all about parallelization. Parallelization can be easily accomplished, if a
processing (a work) can be easily split into n units. Hence the core focus of MapReduce programming
framework have been to solve the partition problem.
The Problem :
Algorithms that are usually used to process data are relatively simple , compared to the amount of
time it takes to finish execution. In order for the data processing task to finish in a reasonable amount
of time, the task needs to be split into potentially thousands of machines in a cluster. To this account,
Hadoop compute framework provides techniques to split data, forwarding these data and code to
participating nodes in the cluster, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Idea of MapReduce is taken from list processing languages like LISP.
Mapping Lists:
A list of data elements are provided to a Mapper (mapping function) one at a time. Each element is
individually transformed to an output data element.
Reducing Lists :
In the reduce step, these values are aggregated together. An iterator of input values from the input list
is provided to the Reducer function, which then combines these values to produce a single output
value.
Mapping step in MapReduce : (Keys and Values)
All the values in MapReduce has a key associated with it. Keys are used to identify related values. The
input and output to both the Mapper and Reducer functions are (Key,Value) pairs.
Reducing Step in MapReduce : (Keys divide the Reduce space)
All the output values from mapper are not reduced together, but the values with the same key are
given to a single reducer, which is independent of the reduce operations occurring on other lists of
values associated with different keys.
Input Files :
An Input file is where the data for a MapReduce task is typically stored, and this input file resides in
HDFS. These input files are typically large to the order of Gigabytes and Petabytes spanning across
multiple nodes.
InputFormat :
InputFormat defines how the input files are split up and read. InputFormat is a java class which
provides functionalities like selecting the files that needs to be used as input, defining InputSplits that
breaks

The Role Of Unrealistic Expectations In Everyday...
Having all the social networks and lots of distrust today, it causes lots of problems in modern day
relationships.
Once someone has trusted someone that failed them, it almost ends all relationships for that person.
Dating is not the same as it was back in the 80s.
Yes, dating is something of the past because most people don t even care anymore.
They are afraid of commitment.
Lots of them let the past predict the future.
( 7 Reasons Why You re Afraid Of Commitment (And What To Do About It). Thought Catalog. 27

So, if something bad happened in a past relationship, it makes it almost impossible to commit again.
They are too busy . (source 1)
Some people just think they don t have time for a connection of some sort with someone or something.
They have unrealistic expectations. (source 1) They either crave what they can t have or be with
someone just to do the things they crave, or what they want to do.Unrealistic expectations sometimes
cause them to think that he or she will cheat on us, ending something that didn t even really start. They
can t make up their minds as to what they want they both want and don t want a relationship. They are

Freedom of Speech vs. Censorship on the Internet
Freedom of Speech Vs. Censorship:
Children on the Internet
The internet is a very controversial communication device in today s society. If desired, one could find
information on nearly any topic they choose. Censorship and free speech is a widely discussed topic
when dealing with the current freedom of the internet especially when dealing with young minds.
Should the internet have censored topics which would be illegal to post and/or view freely by
children? Should the internet be a free for all arena in which anyone could do as they wish without
judgment of others opinions and views imposing on their own? So far in class and in the text Gift of
Fire by Sara Baase we have seen many issues dealing with Freedom of Speech and the internet. ...

As a result of this and the international span of the internet, it is hard for the FCC to be an overseer of
the medium. Certain controversial laws have attempted to set in place regulations that censor ethically
and socially dubious materials from publication on the web. The topic that has been at the forefront of
debate deals with obscene materials. This is a heated topic because the definition of obscenity is very
vague and subject to interpretation. What is considered to be obscene can be viewed very differently
depending on ones personal morals, beliefs, and values. For example, a parent who is highly religious
and living in the United States may view nudity on cable television as obscene and pornographic for
their child to view, while a person with the same religious beliefs living in Europe or another part of
the world may just view this as art or entertainment. This is due to the difference in societal views on
obscenity.
To get to the root of what is considered obscene, a test for judging obscene material was set in the case
of Miller v. California. This modern test for obscenity consists of three parts: (1) the proscribed
material must depict or describe sexual conduct in a patently offensive way, (2) the conduct must be
specifically described in the law, and (3) the work must,

How Did Manet Portray Women Naked In The 19th Century
Such a scandal it was to paint women naked in the nineteenth century. Not a goddess or a mythical
creature, but a real, contemporary french woman. No matter how beautifully it was painted, this type
of subject matter was simply not supposed to be done. This was such the case for Édouard Manet, a
french painter in the nineteenth century. In 1863 he created Le déjeuner sur l herbe or The luncheon on
the grass, an oil on canvas impressionist style painting. Not only was there controversy in the subject
matter but in the way it was painted as well. The luncheon on the grass depicts four people; two men
and two women, having a lunch out in the woods. The two men appear to be locked in conversation
while they sit with the company of a woman in nude. The woman s clothes in scattered in the left hand
corner of the painting, as if they were quickly shed off her body. The second woman appears further
back in the composition, standing in a small pond. All three appear to be dressed in contemporary ...

They had the capability to take a photograph of what they desired to paint, and then return to their
studio to paint it. This brought rise to a more photographic style of painting, which often flattened the
subject matter. This can be very easily seen here in Manet s painting. One could say it was a lighter
version of tenebrism; the technique that used harsh light and darks. typically in this style of painting
the figures are in extreme light while the background is rather dark, similar to what photography
lightly would give. The woman in nude appears in a very bright, stark manner against the dark
clothing of the man she is sitting beside. She appears very flat, almost as if she was cut out from
another painting and placed there. Tenebrism isn t the only technique used to create this painting, for
the brush strokes move away from clean and precise lines to more impressionistic

The Phases Of Conflict By Ceasefire And Post Agreement Essay
In times of conflict, it is important to note the four phases of conflict. These four phases being, pre
violence or the buildup period. Second, is armed conflict. Third is a ceasefire and lastly, comes the
post agreement. The first two phases of conflict are not hard at all to achieve or attain. Certain nations
around the world are almost always engaged in some form of conflict with other ethnic groups or
secessionist/ revolutionary forces. For a certain subset of nations, civil war appears to be a chronic
condition. (Quinn, et.al. 2007) The last phases of conflict, ceasefire and post agreement are certainly
much harder to attain and sustain than the first two phases. For this short essay, I have chosen the post
agreement phase as being the most difficult to attain and uphold. I will discuss the reasons I believe
this phase is the hardest to achieve, why or if it s even important and also briefly compare it to the
preceding phases of conflict. The main reason I chose the post agreement phase as being the most
difficult phase to achieve, is primarily because conflicting sides have to fight through the first three
stages to get to the final stage. At this point, any trust each side had for each other is shattered and
people will almost certainly be highly angered at the opposing sides for events that occur during
conflict. Not only that, but often times, conflicting parties never even reach this point. Some conflicts
only end in a ceasefire and never reach a full peace

Cain And Abel Research Paper
Abel was killed by his older brother Cain. Genesis 4 shares the adult lives of brothers, Cain and Abel.
Cain and Abel were sons of Adam and Eve; however, Cain became very jealous and envious of his
younger brother, Abel. The motive of Cain s jealousy towards his brother, Abel, derived from Abel s
worship offering being accepted by God, their Creator. Abel s offering to God was from the yield of
the first fruit of his flock. Cain also provided a worship offering to God. Nonetheless, Cain s presented
offering wasn t acceptable. Hence, an envious spirit became birthed within Cain, and Cain murdered
his brother, Abel, because God accepted Abel s worship offering but didn t accept Cain s offering. God

I Am No Taller Than Three Feet
I stand no taller than three feet, even with the monster sized boots hiding my feet from the frigid air on
the lake. The bright orange hat falls over my eyes as I struggle to keep up with my dad. I slip a bit on
the ice and let out a shrill scream before getting ready to hit the ground, but I don t feel any pain. I
open my eyes to see that my superhero had swooped me up and saved the day. I wrap my slender arms
around his neck, hugging him. He carries me the rest of the way to the small lakeside restaurant. When
he sets me down on the ground again, my boots make a loud bang on the wooden floor. A few heads
turn towards us. One specific person that I notice is an old man who s grey hair hangs a bit too long.
His scruffy looking beard reminds me of my grandfather.
I waddle after my dad to the tall stools by the counter. I try to climb up by myself but I am much too
short. Dad picks me up again and sets me on the seat. He helps me unzip my jacket so that I don t get
too hot in the heated room. I look over at my dad and smile. It is the first time that we get to go ice
fishing for what seems like years but it s really only been about two weeks. He smiles back as a waiter
comes up to us. My dad asks if I d rather drink hot cocoa or chocolate milk. Hot cocoa please, Dad.

Essay about Dangers in Skyrim
Prologue There is a place where many adventures have gone and many have died. It is deep in the
earth, filled with evil beings. The evil beings called falmer dwell in this old city. This is no ordinary
old city, this is Blackreach. Blackreach is an old dwemer city that was filled with dwarves. The
dwarves were mysteriously wiped out and the falmer inhibit the ruins now. The falmer alone make the
place dangerous. The falmer were a great race of snow elves until the Aldimiri Dominion demolished
them. They were sent into hiding and live in the caves. They adapted into foul, blind creatures that are
very dangerous. They keep large scorpion insect hybrids called chorus that have a deadly poison and
are extremely powerful. The falmer are all ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I was shocked. To get a deadra heart would mean killing a mighty demon from oblivion. They are very
hard to find now after the oblivion crisis. And by the nine divines it is one of the rarest metals in all of
Skyrim. But here he was with the items in his hand ready. I could tell he was not an ordinary warrior. I
forged him the mighty sword, but such task was not as easy as it sounds. To be able to use the deadra
heart you must get it to 450 degrees and keep it at that exact temperature for exactly 2 days. The
ebony is also very hard to melt. You must use fire salts which will get the forge to the highest heat that
it can get to. The next few days the warrior stayed in the town. One day I went to go talk to the man. I
asked him what he does for a living. He said he was an adventurer who traveled through Skyrim
diving into dungeons, and treasure hunting often. This is not an ordinary profession. The next day the
sword was finished, and I presented it to him. He seemed very pleased. He admired the great design.
He brought a giant s skull, one of the toughest items in Skyrim. He took the sword, and swung it at the
skull. It made a clean cut. It not only had magnificent beauty, but also deadly power. This is a sword to
reckon with. The next thing he said was shocking. He asked me to sharpen it. I debated that my mere
grindstone would only dull the blade, but he insisted. I sharped it to the best of my abilities and he

Mergers and Acquisition
Do Mergers and Acquisitions always bring desired results? Individual Assignment

Student Name: Mandeep Kaur (10211855) Module Leader: Simeon Scott Course: MA IBM
Introduction: For my research topic I have chosen this topic to analyse and to investigate about the
mergers and acquisitions of organisations. Do these mergers and acquisitions always bring desired
results or not. Mergers and acquisitions are very common and occur everywhere i.e. in organizations,
administrative units and businesses in all industries and of all sizes specially in banking sector and in

For example when a manufacture company buy or merge with another component maker company,
called a vertical merge (Stacey, 1970:33).
Literature review: Different tools and techniques in the forms of ratio analysis etc. are used by
scholars to identify the effects of mergers and acquisitions and interestingly different results are there
in the market. Performance can be measured on the basis of long term and short term time period; long
term performance can be checked on the basis of profitability of the firm. Fundamental analysis of the
company with the help of ratio analysis (kumar bansal, 2008)
Motives for mergers and acquisitions: in economic terms a merger or acquisition will only be
worthwhile if combining the two businesses will lead to gains which would not arise if the two
business stayed apart. In financial terms, the present value of bidding business plus, the present value
of target business plus, a gain in terms of increased income or reduced expenses from combining
(Samuels, wilikes and brayshaw, 1996).
Acquisitions as transformation category:
As compared with other types of transformation in a company, the characteristics of an acquisition is
that it can include almost all other transformation categories. The employees in the acquired
organization must go through a number of technical changes: new frame of reference, new
organization, new business model, new rules and processes, different working conditions, privileges,

Guns N Roses History
Six studio albums resulting in more than 100 million albums sold worldwide. Almost half of those
albums were sold in the United States alone. Not many rock bands can say that they have
accomplished this; Guns N Roses is one such band that has. The story of Guns N Roses is all
documented in the book W.A.R: The Unauthorized Biography of William Axl Rose written by Mick
Wall. In this book there is proof of Guns N Roses being one of the greatest rock bands to ever
perform. The early days were hard for the band. When all of the members made it to LA they were in
different bands. It took almost three years of them filling in for each others bands and drifting through
random bands before they decided to form one of their own. Alx was the one who ... Show more

Premarital Sex and Religion Essay
Premarital Sex and Religion
The Catholic Church teaches that premarital sex is wrong, yet it is still widely practiced around the
world. The reason marriage was created was to join two people of the opposite sex together in a holy
sacrament that would make the couple one. God s reason for marriage is quoted in the bible when he
said, For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother and be joined to his wife, and the two
shall become one flesh. The Sacrament of marriage is one of the most sacred Sacraments in the
Catholic Religion. By performing premarital sex, the couple is breaking a covenant with God and is
performing a sin. Marriage is the joining of a couple in the eyes of God and in the eyes of the State.

Premarital sex goes against God s law so our relationship with God is destroyed. Penance can heal our
relationship with God, but the emotional ties that go along with premarital sex can hurt a person for
life. Many couples that have premarital sex often do not stay together in marriage. Many people have
strong emotional hardships that they go through after having premarital sex. Premarital sex doesn t
just lead to sin; it leads to a separation of God and your family and friends. Sex is the sacred sigh of
the covenant with God, when a couple has sex they are sealing the covenant with God. Breaking this
sign of the covenant is one of the most harmful sins that we as a people can expose ourselves to. In
order for us to enter into heaven God says But among you there must not even be a hint of sexual
immorality, or of any kind of impurity...because these are improper for God s holy people.1 Breaking
the sign of the covenant with God is breaking God s law and going against everything God wants for
us. God doesn t ask much from us considering all that he has given us, he asks us only to follow his
laws, in Jesus said, If you love me, you will obey what I command.1 Premarital sex goes against God
s command and ruins our relationship with him.
Since the time of Christ, Christians have thought premarital sex to be a sin. Ancient Christians use to
believe that marriage was a second rate choice but if one lacked self control, he had to take

John Locke s Second Treatise Of Civil Government
John Locke
Locke wrote the Second Treatise of Civil Government in 1690. It was written as a defense of the
overthrow of King James II and rise to power of William and Mary. This was known as the Glorious
Revolution.
As Locke references the laws of nature, he continues to say that they are something that men are
bound to by birth. Locke says that the laws of nature state that man is in a state also of equality,
meaning that all men are created equal in nature. Locke differentiates between the two by saying that
the laws of man are something that a man agrees to once he enters society while the laws of nature
apply to a man from birth.
Locke states that it is necessary for man to give up certain liberties under the laws of nature when he

He felt that the structure of society in France was unjust. He argued that laws would only work if they
were supported by the people that they applied to. This is also a time of societal and political unrest in
the United States, whom France allied with in the Revolutionary War.
The fundamental question is, How is a method of associating to be found which will defend and
protect using the power of all the person and property of each member and still enable each member
of the group to obey only himself and to remain as free as before? A way to reword this question may
be: How does a system that relies on dependence allow for individuals to preserve their own rights and
freedoms? Once people become dependent on each other, it is hard to become independent again. It
can be hard to maintain freedoms.
The social contract is that, The individual member alienates himself totally to the whole community
together with all his rights. The benefits come from being within a community. An individual becomes
equal with everyone in the society. The contract allows for individual rights within a society while

Gender Role In Joseph Conrad’s Heart of Darkness Essay
Gender Role In Joseph Conrad s Heart of Darkness
For the most part people who read Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad may feel that the novella is
strictly a story of exploration and racial discrimination. But to Johanna Smith who wrote Too
Beautiful Altogether : Ideologies of Gender and Empire in Heart of Darkness it is much more than
that. Johanna Smith along with Wallace Watson and Rita A. Bergenholtz agree that throughout Heart
of Darkness there are tones of gender prejudice, but the way that these three different authors perceive
and interpret those gender tones are to a certain extent different.
In Too Beautiful Altogether Smith points out that even though Heart of Darkness is an especially
masculine account, femininity and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To recognize ideological contradictions in Heart of Darkness, one needs to be on familiar terms with
discourse. A discourse is a domain of language use (Belsey 5), a specific mode of speaking, writing,
and thinking that includes certain shared assumptions (Smith 190). One example Smith gives of an
ideology in Heart of Darkness is the ideology of gender or empire, written in the words feminine or
savage. Johanna Smith gives many examples of Marlow s contradictions that his ideological discourse
of empire and gender work to mystify. In Heart of Darkness the women are often silenced. Smith
points out the example of the laundress: the company s chief accountant insists that she had to be
taught to launder his clothes properly and that she had a strong disliking for the job. But you never
truly hear her side of the story; Smith suggests Marlow s silencing of the laundress shows Marlow s
authority as the masculine narrator of his story, to conceal not only her story but also those of the other
silent women in Heart of Darkness (Smith 193). Marlow s Way of self asserting his dominating
silence of the women is a clear example of Marlow s view towards women and is a key illustration of
just how much Marlow believes he, as a male, is far more superior than a women. The second point

Food Culture With High Fructose Corn Syrup Essay
Damaging the Food Culture with High Fructose Corn Syrup
The food culture that we have are practices, beliefs, and ways we use to make food and consume it.
Furthermore it is how we understand it as a whole and how it can shape us. Certain foods all around us
can change people individually or as a group, the ability to express ourselves with food is
endless. Some people may love the food for flavor , some may love to take pictures of the food and
some people may just eat it because of their religion. People in the food culture can express whatever
they want with food in many other ways, for example financial status, power, creativity, etc. It is
amazing what people can do when it come to this, but what people do not know are its dangers.
Sometimes people only see the good part behind the food and are oblivious to what it really is. The
audience can maybe overlook how the food was made and in many ways overlook what is good for
them and what is not. Many of the foods nowadays are made in labs and in so many different ways we
can not think of. A certified dietitian named Katherine Zeratsky says High fructose corn syrup can
contribute unwanted calories that are linked to health problems, such as weight gain, type 2 diabetes,
etc . All of these health problems dealing with the chemical high fructose corn syrup (HFCS). This
product is in sodas, Fruit drinks, Syrups, and even more. We consume this everyday and it is cheaper
to make it that real sugar and it apparently taste better.

The Code Of Conduct And How The Corporate Governance Is...
Abstract
This paper will discuss the code of conduct in place for G.E. It will define the ways in which the code
is adhered to and how the corporate governance is respected and modified. This will define the
principles of a code of conduct per the module and the code of conduct for General Electric will be
defined on how GE delivers its code of conduct and how it is either modified or updated continuously.
General Electric Corporation has a code of conduct in place as follows:
GE s commitment to total, unyielding Integrity is set forth in GE s compliance handbook, The Spirit
The Letter. The policies set forth in The Spirit The Letter govern the conduct of all GE employees and
are supplemented by compliance procedures and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
No matter how high the stakes, no matter how great the challenge, GE will do business only by lawful
and ethical means. When working with customers and Suppliers in every aspect of our business, we
will not compromise our commitment to integrity. (General Electric Compliance Resource, 2009).
General Electric has the bullet points from above on every business divisions website and the Code of
Conduct for GE in consistent for all their employees. In other words, no adjusted codes based on
various countries throughout the world. This also brings one to believe that employees will sign the
agreement and be held accountable at all levels of the organization as well. It would seem that it does
not allow special privilege as an option to opt out of participating and adhering to their code of
conduct. Supposing one would want to opt out, it would be making a statement that they do not agree
and therefore cannot work for General Electric. There are other codes of conduct for suppliers and
vendors of multinational corporations. GE has various codes of conduct in place for these.
According to Multinational Management: A Strategic Approach:
General Electric has their code of conduct policies ranked sixth in the world for the Fortune 500
companies to work for. (www.ethisphere.com). It is involved in transportation equipment
manufacturing, electrical products

Literary Analysis Of Blessing By Imtiaz Dharker
The poem, Blessing by Imtiaz Dharker, shows what life would be like without water. It is so special
that it is like a kindly god . The author uses various literacy devices to convey her subject.
The poem opens with the statement there is never enough water , sharply piercing the readers with a
reality that lacks water. The poet wants us to stop and imagine just for a second what it would be like
without water, and realise how much we are dependent on this god . She then draws a scene of what it
would be like when this kindly god enters into the water deprived reality. They are filled with
euphoria, elated that such a blessing has entered into their lives. The contrast between these two
scenes, the two emotions of despair and elation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The author applies vivid verbs like crack and crashes to emphasize the following technique. For
example, the vivid verb crack in the quote the skin cracks like a pod aids the simile like a pod in
describing the pod drying out and cracking so loudly that we can hear it happening right next to our
ears. Another example of a vivid verb is crashes in the quote The municiple pipe bursts, silver crashes
to the ground... . The vivid verb helps the visual imagery of water bursting out of the pipe in crashing
onto the ground like the powerful, fierce voice of a...god . The sibilance in the small splash vibrates in
our minds as we hear the drip of [water] splish splashing into the tin mug . The drop of water is so
small that Dharker uses the onomatopoeia of echo to convey what it sounds like when the drop of
water hits the bottom of the tin mug. The sound bounces off the walls of the mug it is held captive in.
It also conveys that water is scarce that only a drop can be found to fill an entire tin mug. The heavy
sibilance in sometimes, the sudden rush of fortune imitates the roar of water as it crashes and smashes
onto the streets. This show of power of water exhibits that it can really be like a god . It is no wonder
that a the religious diction of congregation is used to depict the people that comes out to worship this
deity roar of tongues to sing hymns to glorify this divine being.
In addition to descriptive and language techniques, Dharker also uses structure to communicate with
her readers about the subject of water. She uses enjambment in stanza two to copy the movement of
the drop of water on its way to the bottom of the mug. Additionally, she applies enjambent in stanza
three to mimic the water bursts out of the pipe and flows along the

St. John s Last Speech
Let s get straight to the point. When asked, what do you want to be remembered as, I would answer
promptly, a passionate guide.
There s a trend I ve been noticing lately within St John. Members who stay past a year, tend to stay
forever, while many others come and go quickly. I ve been personally affected by a lot of my new
acquaintances sudden departures. It s like meeting a rainbow, then within a shimmer, they re gone.
I reckoned, it s that they haven t found their reason to stay yet. Specifically, their purpose. From
anecdotal evidence, I can t say I was always this enthusiastic about St John.
I was born a leader. From kindergarten back in China, I would fervently campaign for class president.
In middle school, I jumped at any student ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I want to help new members discover their purpose, and their reasons to stay. By recognizing their
buried strengths, and gently giving them that nudge, I believe a lot of hidden talent can be found
within St John. If that were my duty, I guess I would be remembered as a passionate guide, right?
But that s not enough. Having passion for a pre existing worthy cause wonderful, but I want to be
more than that. Instead of a speck of sand within the vast Sahara that is the phenomenon of St John s
history, I want to be a bee within a kingdom of hives of St John s future. I want to contribute
something new to the continuing making of St John Ambulance.
I have a brain. It channels nebulae, from which, galactic stars of ideas emerge. Ideas that can paint the
abyss beyond, solve the riddles integrated within; ideas that can magnify the micro, and simplify the
macro. I call this: imagination.
When passion meets imagination, you get innovation. Beyond a guide, I want to be remembered as an
innovator.
St John Ambulance can never be perfected, just as everything is on earth. But with generations of
genius and dedication from individuals who love their organization and pioneer new designs, St John
slowly

Jurassic Park Essay
Jurassic Park
The story of Jurassic Park was written about fourteen years ago by a man named Michael Crichton.
His book has now evolved into three movies of Jurassic Park I, II, and III. Steven Speilberg has taken
the story of Crichton is transformed it into one of his action packed, suspense thrillers.
The first main theme that makes the story of Jurassic Park is its setting. The setting is a huge factor in
the understanding of the story. The story takes place on an isolated island off the coast of Costa Rica
that has become a theme park exhibiting prehistoric dinosaurs. Here dinosaurs roam unrestricted. The
only restraint they have were gates and fences that could easily be knocked down by the gigantic
animals.
The island in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The turning point in both the movie and the book is when the storm comes. A huge hurricane is going
to hit the island dead on. There is nothing the people could do except wait it through. The storm is
more massive then anyone expected and it knocks out the power to the whole island. This is the point
at which the book and movie differ again.
The book tells that the storm knocks out all the power to the island and to all the electrical gates. This
is a major problem for the scientists. This puts their safety in jeopardy. There is now nothing
protecting the people from the dinosaurs because there is no power going through the electric fences.
This is when all hell breaks loose. The dinosaurs realize that they are not being restrained any more
and break loose. They are roaming about the island while the scientists scramble to get the power back
on through a generator. During all the chaos the dinosaurs have already taken out five people out of
the team of ten.
The movie differs a little bit from the book at this point. During the storm all of the scientists go out to
try to get the power back on and to try to stay alive. Raptors have raided the lab and center of the park
and are hungry for some people. The raptors and other dinosaurs take out three people out of the team
of ten in the movie. Like the book the people scramble to get the power on but decide to start running
too. Now in both the movie

  • 2. What Was The Market Revolution Between 1840-1840 Essay What was the Market Revolution between the years of 1800 1840 all about? After winning the presidential elections in 1800, President Jefferson was determined to secure the nation and develop the market. He initiated improvements in roads, railroads, and canals. Consequently, the development in cotton kingdom led to the rise of the West as a powerful nation. The slavery trade also improved and became more organized. The revolution was also characterized by the growth of Chicago and Cincinnati cities. In 1814, the first large scale factory was established in Waltham, Massachusetts. The economic improvements led to an influx of immigrants and traders in the major cities, and nativism due to the conflicts. Transformation Laws were implemented to control business and peace in the West. Additionally, the religion also improved as people celebrated self improvement, self determination, and self reliance. Entry 2 What did the Democracy in America between the years of 1815 1840 consist of? Democracy was associated with the abolition of the property requirement for a person to vote. By 1840s, the abolition of slave trade became the center of American politics both at the state and national levels. Consequently, the Mexican frontier that led to the freedom of Spain colonies and formation of New Mexico and California was established in 1821. However, in the election of 1844, issues of slavery influenced presidential elections where other politicians demanded the acquisition of Mexico after Spain pulled off their acquisition. War with Mexico had divided opinions as non supporters claimed that the main intention was to gain more land for slavery. In 1846 after the acquisition, Congressman David Wilmot made the proposal that prohibited slaves in the New Mexico. • 3. Current Sources Of The State Of Indonesia In Indonesia, petroleum is one of the main sources of the state revenues. It is also a very important strategic commodity and often as political issue. The revenues from oil and gas have driven the economic growth and contributed significantly for the development of Indonesia. In the world, legislations which regulate oil and gas are varies from country to country. In spite of many variations, in general, the upstream oil and gas activities, based on two systems, the production sharing contracts and the licensing systems. Indonesia was the country that introduced the concept of production sharing contracts in 1966 (Bindemann, 1999). After the verdict of Indonesian Constitutional Court in 2012 on The Oil and Gas Law, some of the articles were unconstitutional and not legally binding. As a result, the government and the parliament want to revise the oil and gas law and led to the ideas of replacing the production sharing contract with the licensing system. Nevertheless, before Indonesia adopts the new system, many aspects should be considered in designing legislations. Some of the aspects are the concept of natural resources ownership, revenues for the state, and attractiveness for the investors. Mean while, as the owner of natural resources, the government has the rights to control and regulate petroleum resources. The government would also have to balance its demand for maximizing the revenues from oil and gas and adverse effect on investment climate. Thus, it should be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Goneril tells Lear that he needs a smaller troop, more decorous in behavior and better suited to the king s rank and age. The king is very angry and says he will pack up his people and move to Regan s palace. Lear s anger continues to build, and he calls upon nature to curse Goneril s womb. In response, Goneril turns out 50 of Lear s retinue. As the subplot develops, Edmund wounds himself slightly, pretending that Edgar has attacked him. Certain that Edgar will also try to kill him, Gloucester promises to find the means to make Edmund his heir. After his escape into the woods, Edgar decides that he will disguise himself as a Bedlam beggar, who will be known as Poor Tom. Meanwhile, Cornwall orders an impassioned Kent placed in the stocks. Lear arrives and quickly realizes that Regan has joined Goneril in seeking to reduce Lear s authority. Lear reminds his daughters that he gave them all that they now enjoy, but they are unmoved. An angry Lear calls for his horse, and rides into the storm with his Fool for protection. Exposed to the storm, the Fool attempts to reason with his king, but Lear will have no part of submission, especially before his daughters. Soon the king and Fool are joined by Edgar disguised as Poor Tom. Gloucester tells Edmund of the plot to save the king, unaware that he is divulging the plans to a traitor. • 5. Molar Mass Of Butane And Unknown Molar Mass of Butane and unknown Abstract: The purpose of this lab is to find the molar mass of mixed gases in a lighter, and to calculate the exact mixture of gases in the lighter. The results of this lab were the mass of the lighter, as 100 mL of water was displaced, was 0.27g, 0.17g, and 0.28g. The molar masses of the gasses for three trials were 64.3 g/mol, 40.5 g/mol, and 66.7 g/mol. Background: The purpose of this lab is to find the molar mass of mixed gases in a lighter, and to calculate the exact mixture of gases in the lighter. While collecting the volume of Butane gas in a lighter, the molar mass can also be determined. When attempting to find the molar mass, water displacement is the best method to use. This can be determined because the equal volumes of all gases contain equal number of particles, so long as they are measured at the same temperature and pressure. Ideal gas law is the chemistry involved with this experiment. The equations M=mRT/PV and PV=nRT can be seen throughout this experiment. Pre Lab questions: The Ideal gas law demonstrates a relationship between different values in the equation PV=nRT. The ideal gas law will be used to find the molar mass of butane. The ideal gas law can be changed with the equation n=m/M. It can be seen that moles equals mass over molar mass. This can be changed, and substituted into the Ideal gas law to find the molar mass. The equation goes from PV=nRT to M=mRT/PV. Molar Mass is the mass of a given substance. It ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Basic Idea Of Hadoop Basic Idea : Parallelization The Basic idea in Hadoop is all about parallelization. Parallelization can be easily accomplished, if a processing (a work) can be easily split into n units. Hence the core focus of MapReduce programming framework have been to solve the partition problem. The Problem : Algorithms that are usually used to process data are relatively simple , compared to the amount of time it takes to finish execution. In order for the data processing task to finish in a reasonable amount of time, the task needs to be split into potentially thousands of machines in a cluster. To this account, Hadoop compute framework provides techniques to split data, forwarding these data and code to participating nodes in the cluster, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Idea of MapReduce is taken from list processing languages like LISP. Mapping Lists: A list of data elements are provided to a Mapper (mapping function) one at a time. Each element is individually transformed to an output data element. Reducing Lists : In the reduce step, these values are aggregated together. An iterator of input values from the input list is provided to the Reducer function, which then combines these values to produce a single output value. Mapping step in MapReduce : (Keys and Values) All the values in MapReduce has a key associated with it. Keys are used to identify related values. The input and output to both the Mapper and Reducer functions are (Key,Value) pairs. Reducing Step in MapReduce : (Keys divide the Reduce space) All the output values from mapper are not reduced together, but the values with the same key are given to a single reducer, which is independent of the reduce operations occurring on other lists of values associated with different keys. Input Files : An Input file is where the data for a MapReduce task is typically stored, and this input file resides in HDFS. These input files are typically large to the order of Gigabytes and Petabytes spanning across multiple nodes. InputFormat : InputFormat defines how the input files are split up and read. 27 Mar. 2014. Web. 05 Apr. 2016.) So, if something bad happened in a past relationship, it makes it almost impossible to commit again. They are too busy . (source 1) Some people just think they don t have time for a connection of some sort with someone or something. They have unrealistic expectations. (source 1) They either crave what they can t have or be with someone just to do the things they crave, or what they want to do.Unrealistic expectations sometimes cause them to think that he or she will cheat on us, ending something that didn t even really start. If desired, one could find information on nearly any topic they choose. Censorship and free speech is a widely discussed topic when dealing with the current freedom of the internet especially when dealing with young minds. Should the internet have censored topics which would be illegal to post and/or view freely by children? Should the internet be a free for all arena in which anyone could do as they wish without judgment of others opinions and views imposing on their own? As a result of this and the international span of the internet, it is hard for the FCC to be an overseer of the medium. Certain controversial laws have attempted to set in place regulations that censor ethically and socially dubious materials from publication on the web. The topic that has been at the forefront of debate deals with obscene materials. This is a heated topic because the definition of obscenity is very vague and subject to interpretation. What is considered to be obscene can be viewed very differently depending on ones personal morals, beliefs, and values. For example, a parent who is highly religious and living in the United States may view nudity on cable television as obscene and pornographic for their child to view, while a person with the same religious beliefs living in Europe or another part of the world may just view this as art or entertainment. This is due to the difference in societal views on obscenity. To get to the root of what is considered obscene, a test for judging obscene material was set in the case of Miller v. California. This modern test for obscenity consists of three parts: (1) the proscribed material must depict or describe sexual conduct in a patently offensive way, (2) the conduct must be specifically described in the law, and (3) the work must, ... • 10. How Did Manet Portray Women Naked In The 19th Century Such a scandal it was to paint women naked in the nineteenth century. Not a goddess or a mythical creature, but a real, contemporary french woman. No matter how beautifully it was painted, this type of subject matter was simply not supposed to be done. This was such the case for Édouard Manet, a french painter in the nineteenth century. In 1863 he created Le déjeuner sur l herbe or The luncheon on the grass, an oil on canvas impressionist style painting. Not only was there controversy in the subject matter but in the way it was painted as well. The luncheon on the grass depicts four people; two men and two women, having a lunch out in the woods. The two men appear to be locked in conversation while they sit with the company of a woman in nude. The woman s clothes in scattered in the left hand corner of the painting, as if they were quickly shed off her body. They had the capability to take a photograph of what they desired to paint, and then return to their studio to paint it. This brought rise to a more photographic style of painting, which often flattened the subject matter. This can be very easily seen here in Manet s painting. One could say it was a lighter version of tenebrism; the technique that used harsh light and darks. typically in this style of painting the figures are in extreme light while the background is rather dark, similar to what photography lightly would give. The woman in nude appears in a very bright, stark manner against the dark clothing of the man she is sitting beside. • 11. The Phases Of Conflict By Ceasefire And Post Agreement Essay In times of conflict, it is important to note the four phases of conflict. These four phases being, pre violence or the buildup period. Second, is armed conflict. Third is a ceasefire and lastly, comes the post agreement. The first two phases of conflict are not hard at all to achieve or attain. Certain nations around the world are almost always engaged in some form of conflict with other ethnic groups or secessionist/ revolutionary forces. For a certain subset of nations, civil war appears to be a chronic condition. (Quinn, et.al. 2007) The last phases of conflict, ceasefire and post agreement are certainly much harder to attain and sustain than the first two phases. For this short essay, I have chosen the post agreement phase as being the most difficult to attain and uphold. I will discuss the reasons I believe this phase is the hardest to achieve, why or if it s even important and also briefly compare it to the preceding phases of conflict. The main reason I chose the post agreement phase as being the most difficult phase to achieve, is primarily because conflicting sides have to fight through the first three stages to get to the final stage. At this point, any trust each side had for each other is shattered and people will almost certainly be highly angered at the opposing sides for events that occur during conflict. Not only that, but often times, conflicting parties never even reach this point. Some conflicts only end in a ceasefire and never reach a full peace ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Cain and Abel were sons of Adam and Eve; however, Cain became very jealous and envious of his younger brother, Abel. Abel s offering to God was from the yield of the first fruit of his flock. Cain also provided a worship offering to God. Nonetheless, Cain s presented offering wasn t acceptable. General Electric has the bullet points from above on every business divisions website and the Code of Conduct for GE in consistent for all their employees. In other words, no adjusted codes based on various countries throughout the world. This also brings one to believe that employees will sign the agreement and be held accountable at all levels of the organization as well. It would seem that it does not allow special privilege as an option to opt out of participating and adhering to their code of conduct. Supposing one would want to opt out, it would be making a statement that they do not agree and therefore cannot work for General Electric. There are other codes of conduct for suppliers and vendors of multinational corporations. GE has various codes of conduct in place for these. According to Multinational Management: A Strategic Approach: General Electric has their code of conduct policies ranked sixth in the world for the Fortune 500 companies to work for. • 31. Literary Analysis Of Blessing By Imtiaz Dharker The poem, Blessing by Imtiaz Dharker, shows what life would be like without water. It is so special that it is like a kindly god . The author uses various literacy devices to convey her subject. The poem opens with the statement there is never enough water , sharply piercing the readers with a reality that lacks water. The poet wants us to stop and imagine just for a second what it would be like without water, and realise how much we are dependent on this god . She then draws a scene of what it would be like when this kindly god enters into the water deprived reality. They are filled with euphoria, elated that such a blessing has entered into their lives. The contrast between these two scenes, the two emotions of despair and elation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The author applies vivid verbs like crack and crashes to emphasize the following technique. For example, the vivid verb crack in the quote the skin cracks like a pod aids the simile like a pod in describing the pod drying out and cracking so loudly that we can hear it happening right next to our ears. Another example of a vivid verb is crashes in the quote The municiple pipe bursts, silver crashes to the ground... . The vivid verb helps the visual imagery of water bursting out of the pipe in crashing onto the ground like the powerful, fierce voice of a...god . The sibilance in the small splash vibrates in our minds as we hear the drip of [water] splish splashing into the tin mug . The drop of water is so small that Dharker uses the onomatopoeia of echo to convey what it sounds like when the drop of water hits the bottom of the tin mug. The sound bounces off the walls of the mug it is held captive in. It also conveys that water is scarce that only a drop can be found to fill an entire tin mug. The heavy sibilance in sometimes, the sudden rush of fortune imitates the roar of water as it crashes and smashes onto the streets. This show of power of water exhibits that it can really be like a god . It is no wonder that a the religious diction of congregation is used to depict the people that comes out to worship this deity roar of tongues to sing hymns to glorify this divine being. In addition to descriptive and language techniques, Dharker also uses structure to communicate with her readers about the subject of water. Additionally, she applies enjambent in stanza three to mimic the water bursts out of the pipe and flows along the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. St. John s Last Speech Let s get straight to the point. When asked, what do you want to be remembered as, I would answer promptly, a passionate guide. There s a trend I ve been noticing lately within St John. Members who stay past a year, tend to stay forever, while many others come and go quickly. I ve been personally affected by a lot of my new acquaintances sudden departures. It s like meeting a rainbow, then within a shimmer, they re gone. I reckoned, it s that they haven t found their reason to stay yet. Specifically, their purpose. From anecdotal evidence, I can t say I was always this enthusiastic about St John. I was born a leader. From kindergarten back in China, I would fervently campaign for class president. In middle school, I jumped at any student ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I want to help new members discover their purpose, and their reasons to stay. By recognizing their buried strengths, and gently giving them that nudge, I believe a lot of hidden talent can be found within St John. If that were my duty, I guess I would be remembered as a passionate guide, right? But that s not enough. Having passion for a pre existing worthy cause wonderful, but I want to be more than that. Instead of a speck of sand within the vast Sahara that is the phenomenon of St John s history, I want to be a bee within a kingdom of hives of St John s future. I want to contribute something new to the continuing making of St John Ambulance. I have a brain. It channels nebulae, from which, galactic stars of ideas emerge. Ideas that can paint the abyss beyond, solve the riddles integrated within; ideas that can magnify the micro, and simplify the macro. I call this: imagination. When passion meets imagination, you get innovation. Beyond a guide, I want to be remembered as an innovator. St John Ambulance can never be perfected, just as everything is on earth. But with generations of genius and dedication from individuals who love their organization and pioneer new designs, St John slowly ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

His book has now evolved into three movies of Jurassic Park I, II, and III. Steven Speilberg has taken the story of Crichton is transformed it into one of his action packed, suspense thrillers. The first main theme that makes the story of Jurassic Park is its setting. The setting is a huge factor in the understanding of the story. The only restraint they have were gates and fences that could easily be knocked down by the gigantic animals. The island in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The turning point in both the movie and the book is when the storm comes. A huge hurricane is going to hit the island dead on. There is nothing the people could do except wait it through. The storm is more massive then anyone expected and it knocks out the power to the whole island. This is the point at which the book and movie differ again. The book tells that the storm knocks out all the power to the island and to all the electrical gates. This is a major problem for the scientists. This puts their safety in jeopardy. There is now nothing protecting the people from the dinosaurs because there is no power going through the electric fences. This is when all hell breaks loose. The dinosaurs realize that they are not being restrained any more and break loose. They are roaming about the island while the scientists scramble to get the power back on through a generator. During all the chaos the dinosaurs have already taken out five people out of the team of ten. The movie differs a little bit from the book at this point. During the storm all of the scientists go out to try to get the power back on and to try to stay alive. Raptors have raided the lab and center of the park and are hungry for some people. The raptors and other dinosaurs take out three people out of the team of ten in the movie. Like the book the people scramble to get the power on but decide to start running too. Now in both the movie ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
