Advantages And Disadvantages Of Trade Union In Malaysia
INTRODUCTION In the 20th century, trade unions is an important labour force through which
working people have a collective voice at work and an avenue to equality, fair treatment and
economic security. However, in the 21st century, it was argued that organised labour seems heading
for extinction (The Economist, 21 September 2006) as cited in Schnabel (2012). It seems that trade
unions in various countries, including Malaysia, are slowly declining its density and membership.
Although trade union has always been the main social institutions in societies represent worker
interest, the decline in membership in many countries since the 1970 s and its consequent
weakening of trade union is a serious threat to acceptable and fair working and... Show more content

The On The Land Registration Act
CRITICALLY ANALYZE THE CHANGES BROUGHT ABOUT BY THE LAND
REGISTRATION ACT 2012 IN THE MANAGEMENT OF REAL PROPERTY IN KENYA
TAKING NOTE TO EXPLORE IN DETAIL THE FRAMEWORK THAT HAS BEEN RELACED.
INTRODUCTION
The land registration ACT is an act of Parliament to revise, consolidate and rationalize the
registration of titles to land, to give effect to the principles and objects of devolved government in
land registration, and for connected purposes. What was being revised is the old registration act
which had to be altered to accommodate the changes in the government layout and the mountain of
complains they were receiving from the public. The new act had to be physically more solid and
efficient if implemented well. The loopholes that were found in the earlier act had to be done away
with.
Land is one of the most controversial things in Kenya. So many people have been displaced and
their land grabbed by individuals who have developed talent in this sector who have made it a
business venture. Land that was designated for agriculture and also as green zone have been
depleted which has led major cities in Kenya such as Nairobi unsustainable.
The current situation in Kenya is such that people do not know the boundary of their land and
most of the time they encroach on peoples land which has led to major conflicts. The revised land
registration act wants to remedy this situation so that Kenya can be a safe zone when for both the
citizens and investors.

Colonel Lloyd s Cruelty Analysis
In the Narrative of the Life Frederick Douglass he writes about Colonel Lloyd s cruelty.
Douglass states it in such a matter that makes one feel as if the experience with Lloyd was
terrible If any one wishes to be impressed with the soul killing effect of slavery, let him go to
Colonel Lloyds plantation. (Gates, 324) Colonel Lloyd kept a garden which offered employment
for four men. Throughout the plantation this garden seemed to be the biggest attraction. It
produced a verity of fruits that appealed to the eyes of many boys and older slaves. If slaves
were to dare and steal fruit from Lloyd s garden they would have to take a lashing for their actions.
The Colonel tried using different methods in attempt to keep the slaves out of his garden. The most

Old Barney and Young Barney were the two slaves signed to take care of the horses. The
slightest inattention to his horses was unpardonable, and was visited upon those, under whose
care they were placed, with the severest punishment; no excuse could shield them. (Gates. 226)
Although taking care of horses might seem like a easy and more favorable job it was on was not
easy at all. These two slaves never when they were safe from punishment. They were frequently
whipped; Lloyd had a twisted way of punishing them they were whipped when they least
deserved it, and excused when they mostly deserved it. Everything depended on the work and
looks of the horses as well as the state in which the Colonel s mind was that day. For example if
the horse was not moving fast enough or would not hold his head up high it the fault of the
keepers and for that they were punished. The keepers never knew what might happen next for
instance the one would never know what they colonel wanted his demands would change within
seconds. It seems as if the Colonel would just look for excuses to punish his slaves. This horse has

Arizona Tribe Environment
Climate change is occurring across the globe and particularly in the Southwest region of the United
States of America. The Southwest has a long history of warm temperatures and drought, yet the
climate is currently changing like never before. This research paper will identify various case
studies of Arizona tribes being threatened due to climate change s effects of rising temperature and
drought. Rising temperatures as well as drought will continue to result in an increase in the melt of
snowpack, reduced water sources, and changes in the ecosystem for various Arizona tribes.
Additionally, the paper will address various solutions to these threats. The effects of climate change
will threaten the livelihoods of tribal communities in Arizona and... Show more content on

Certain models predict that drought activity is expected to increase toward the end of the 21st
century and particularly in the Colorado River Basin (MacDonald Turner, 21260). When the
dam was built in the early 20th century, annual flow was about 17.0 MAF (million acre feet) at
Lees Ferry, Arizona which is a few miles below the dam. Estimates calculating the past MAF of
the Colorado River average to about 13.8 14.6 over the last 450 years. Thus, the dam was built
in a period with an unexpectedly high MAF. Alarmingly in 2000 the river averaged less than 9
MAF. (Bolin, Seetharam, Pompeii, 263). In 2002, the river reached a low of about 6.2 MAF
(MacDonald Turner, 21256). Some models estimate that the river could reach the range of 1.5
to 4.5 MAF in the next 30 50 years. (Bolin, Seetharam, Pompeii, 271). The reduction of MAF in
the Colorado River is due to drought. Droughts have been occurring throughout the 20th century
with droughts from 1900 1904, 1924 1936, 1953 1964, and 1988 1991. These droughts are
associated with warmer regional temperatures and the level of warming is deemed exceptional for
the 21st century (MacDonald Turner, 21257). Recently the Colorado River has experienced the
lowest 5 year mean flows on record (MacDonald Turner, 21257). If river flow is low, so is Lake
Powell s water level. One study suggests that Lake Powell have a 50% chance of receding to
inoperable status by the 2020 s

What Is The Moral Of The Island Of Dr. Moreau
In The Island of Dr.Moreau by H.G. Wells, the reader sees the conflict of morals between the two
main characters on the island. Dr.Moreau, the scientist on the island, conducts vivisections on
animals without remorse. He believes in the progression of scientific research and wants to be able
to perfect it. Moreau uses various animals to change their eyes, ears, and other body features to
make them better. M Ling, one of his earliest creations is almost humanlike with the way he acts.
He is Montgomery s loyal companion and blurs the line between beats and humans. All the other
animals live under the law, which was designed to keep order and power making Moreau a god

Ling is described by Prendick in the story as a Complex trophy of Moreau s skill, a bear, tainted

earliest vivisections on the island, M Ling is treated very different than the other beasts on the

Plagiarism Essay
Plagiarism. We do it everyday. But most people don t even know that they do it. Plagiarism is
the act of taking the work or a idea of someone else, and passing it off as your own (Webster).
Now, there are two main types of plagiarism: intentional and unintentional. Intentional plagiarism
is when someone copies words, ideas, or phrases and purposefully pass it off as their own, all
without giving credit to the correct source. On the other hand, unintentional plagiarism is when
someone cites poorly, or if they didn t know that someone else had an idea, and they pass it off as
their own, thinking they were the first to come up with it. The issue with plagiarism and the United
States, is whether or not America plagiarized democracy. To know... Show more content on

Each state will have a certain number of representatives, and also pay direct taxes, on the basis of
population size (US Constitution 1 2). This excerpt from the US Constitution talks a lot about
power being divided in the government, by having three different branches, judicial, executive,
and legislative. The judiciary is the Supreme Court, which is addressed about later in the US
Constitution, the executive is the president, and the legislative is the Senate and the House of
Representatives. They also talk about power being divided in the Declaration of Independence. In
the Declaration of Independence it states Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their
just powers from the consent of the governed...He has obstructed the Administration of
Justice...He has dissolved Representative Houses repeatedly, for opposing with manly firmness
his invasions on the rights of the people (Declaration of Independence). It doesn t directly state
it, because the Declaration of Independence talks about how the king of England is unfair, and
how he rules poorly. When they state what the king is doing wrong, the reader can infer that the
US will do the opposite. So, when they say that the king is dissolving the Representative Houses,
the reader can assume that the US will not dissolve the Representative Houses repeatedly like the
king previously did. However, famous foreign documents talked about power being divided way
before the US did. For

The Lorax, The Silent Spring And Moths Of The Limberlost
The only way forward, if we are going to improve the quality of the environment is to get everyone
involved (Richard Rogers). The environment is a beautiful thing if taken care of. Today there is
much pollution and other harmful items hurting the environment we live in. Ecocritism is the study
of literature and the environmenttogether. Authors use ecocritism to educate readers about
literature and the environment. The Lorax, The Silent Spring and Moths of the Limberlost all
show ecocritism. To begin with, The Lorax, shows many different ways of ecocritism. Throughout
the movie, The Lorax, the Once Ler chopped down(deforestation) all the truffula trees in the
forest. By chopping down all the truffula trees, the bear s, the bird s and other animal s homes
were destroyed. The Lorax tries to stop the Once Ler from chopping the trees down and taking the
homes away from animals. By chopping the trees down, the Brown Bar Bel Loots(bears) could not

Finally, the Once Ler realized that by cutting down nonrenewable resources, his business would die

Dialectical Journal Chapter 16-18
Reading Chapter 16 22 made me look at Tomi differently. The war forced Tomi to become a man
at an early age. The responsibility of the father and grandpa was forced upon him after both of
them were taken away to prison camps. Tomi had to maintain the chickens and the family katana.
Responsibility at a young age is nothing new to me as well; I am the second to the youngest child
in the family. By the time I got to fourth grade all my older siblings left to America to pursue their
education, leaving me to watch my younger brother and do all the chores at the house because the
youngest was not at age to assist me.
My favorite part was when the Wilson family allowed Tomi s motherto work again. It was a relief

I thought I missed some important events that lead to grandpa s arrest. I was shocked that grandpa
was getting arrested. The situation with grandpa made me more curious to find what Grandpa did

family after learn the news of Papa being arrest and the struggle that they being going through after
the bombing, and the discrimination that they are going through, the author decided to take away
grandpa as well. I cannot imagine what was going through the mother s head when all this was
happening. All of this happening to them and the mother said that this was nothing compare to the
first time she arrived to Hawaii. This moment I tried to imagine how unfortunate Tomi s mother was
when she going to Hawaii.
Overall, I was disappointed that the book was over. I am looking forward to getting the sequel.
As for the Katana, to me it elt like it represented the role of being the head of the family. That s
the way I view the katana when I got to the end of chapter 22. Father was rarely around so
grandpa had it, as soon as grandpa was arrested he forced that responsibility onto Tomi. My

Witness For The Prosecution Quotes
Ever seen the classic movie Witness for the Prosecution? Let me quote a dialogue from it
between Sir Wilfred Roberts, the defense lawyer and Leonard Vole, the murder accused.
Roberts: Mr. Vole I must tell you I m not putting her (Mrs. Vole) in the witness box. Vole: You re
not? Why not? Roberts: Well one thing she s a foreigner, not too familiar with the subtleties of
our language. The prosecution could easily trip her up. Even if one is not in the position of Mr.
Vole and one s life does not depend on it, the above quote still demonstrates the importance of
language and language classes. If you don t know a language properly and have to interact with

What are the differences between global human rights regimes and regional human rights regimes?
Include one example of a regional human rights regime (write at least 1 page double spaced)(5
points)
The most notable example of a global human rights regime is the United Nations, and an example
of regional human rights would be the OAS ( Organization of American States). Both entities have
focuses that are quite similar and intersecting. The main goal of the UN is displayed in article 1 of
the UN Charter which states to maintain international peace and security . Primary concerns of the
UN are security, humanitarian assistance, development, and human rights which is recognized in
the Universal Declaration of Rights by the UN. However, before there was the UN declaration
there was the American Declaration on the Rights and Duties of Man .
Despite the similarities both institutions possess there are differences that are apparent in the
utilitarian function of each. The UN has a universal influence and system of play, and the OAS
plays a smaller role looking over only its specific geographical region of the Americas. While both
aim to influence policy and the promotion of human rights there are advantages that come with
their differences. The UN has criticized the need for regional institutions like the OAS where they
believe the OAS role or goals overlap with those of their own. However, the OAS

Synthesis Essay On Cyberbullying
Cyberbullying Cyberbullying is a willful and repeated harm inflicted through the use of computers,
cell phones, and other electronic devices (Source 3). Things such as posting embarrassing pictures
of someone online, or pretending to be another person online. 20% of youth ages 11 18 have been a
victimof cyberbullying, (Source 3). Cyberbullying can have the same effects on a person just like
normal bullying. Low self esteem, depression, eating disorders, and even suicidecan be provoked by
cyberbullying. So, if we want teens to stop harassing each other online, we should prosecute
individuals for their hateful statements and actions on the internet. Prosecuting these individuals is
crucial to the safety of others. Cyberbullying can physically injure someone. There is a bill that is

challenges, as well as the luxuries, of being on this first manned mission to Mars. A crew of over
100 of the Earth s best scientists travel to a new world to explore and start a colony. This paper
will follow closely with Elon Musk s current plan to put humans on Marsin the not so distant future,
and will look into the advanced technologies developed for this purpose.
A New World
(Intro) There are many questions that need to be answered about how to successfully put
humans on Mars and eventually colonize this new world. Yet there are also several new
technological advances that have been made or are planned for the near future that will make
this groundbreaking mission possible. Some of these critical questions that need to be
answered include the following: How will humans have access to drinkable water on Mars?
How will humans handle and adapt to a lower gravity environment? What kind of rocket will be
used to send humans to Mars? When can we expect that technology to be ready? How is all of
this technology supposed to work to put humans on Mars? By answering these questions, we will
create a picture of what it will look like when humans finally make it to Mars and start to colonize
that new world. Before we dig into the details of the technology, it is important to first ask, why
should humans go to Mars? What do we gain from going to Mars? Many scientists have a

The Era of Good Feeling Dbq
The Era of Good Feeling The Era of Good Feeling was a time of increased nationalism and
prosperity for the nation. This of course is not completely true, debates over many important
issues created a crack in the outward appearance of harmony during President Monroe s two
terms. These issues include sectionalism, foreign policy of isolationism and the rights of states vs.
the rights of the federal government. During Monroe s two terms, sectionalism, an excessive
regard for sectional or local interest, increased greatly. This increase in sectionalism is due to acts
like the Tariff of 1816. A tell tale sign that the Tariff of 1816 was going to cause sectionalism was
that in the U.S. House of Representatives, the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another issue that created a crack in the outward appearance of harmony during The Era of Good
Feeling was President Monroe s foreign policy of isolationism. In the Monroe doctrine, President
Monroe states, we should consider any attempt on their [European powers ] part to extent their
system to any portion of the hemisphere as dangerous to our peace and safety . This statement
makes the United States seem like a protector of Latin nations. However, the United States was
not looking to protect Latin nations from European powers; the United States was looking to
protect itself from European acts of aggression. This misconstrued view that the United States
was the protector of Latin nations helps people buy into the false belief that The Era of Good
Feeling really was a time of harmony in the United States. Another issue that made a crack in the
outward appearance of harmony during The Era of Good Feeling was the debate over the rights
of states vs. the federal government. This issue comes up with the proposal of many internal
improvement plans. Plans to build roads that were to be federally funded were vetoed by
supporters of states rights because they believed this power was out of the scope of the federal
government. The passing of internal improvement bills would ve positively impact the U.S. but

Small Town Monologue
Being from small town USA, the world has not always been at my fingertips. With only one gas
station and a small community of about 450 people, Milano is not well known. Because of its
small size, resources are not very abundant. Growing up, I had to learn how to maximize the few
resources that were available to me. Also, I learned to be appreciative of what I had. My
hometown taught me many great life lessons, and I will forever be thankful for all that I have
learned while living here. The two stoplight townof Milano is located at the intersection of U.S.
Route 79 and State Highway 36, and is only an insignificant bathroom break for many travelers.
These travelers do not get to see what goes on in our quaint little town. They do not get to enjoy
our Friday night football games. They do not get to attend our tight knit community gatherings.
They do not understand that even though we don t have much, we make the most out of what we
have. Travelers who speed past Milano have no idea as to how close we all are, and the sense of
community purpose that has gone by the wayside for so many small towns in America.... Show

The Seatbelt Law, By Thomas Hobbes, And Jean Jacques Rousseau
INTRODUCTION
Every day millions of people around the United States commute daily to work, and to run their
errands. In almost every state in the United States, wearing a seatbelt is required. Many people
ask why they should have to wear a seatbelt in their private vehicles, while others agree that
everybody definitely should wear their seatbelt. Should the government be able to create and
enforce this laws such as this one on the public? This paper will discuss the seatbelt law, the views
of philosophers Thomas Hobbes, and Jean Jacques Rousseau, and whether or not this law is ethical.
THOMAS HOBBES Thomas Hobbes (1588 1679) was an English philosopher who is best known
for his work in political ethics. Hobbes had a pessimistic view of the human race, however his
theory has been used as a major influence on western political views. In 1651, Thomas Hobbes
wrote Leviathan, in which he states that life before government was violent, brutal, and barbaric.
Hobbes continues on to argue that civil peace and social unity are best achieved by the
establishment of a commonwealth through social contract. Leviathan consisted of four books: 1.)
Of Man, 2.) Of Commonwealth, 3.) Of a Christian Commonwealth, and 4.) Of the Kingdom of
Darkness. The first book contains the philosophical context, while the second book outlines the
rights of the citizens within the commonwealth. The third book argues against certain scriptures,

Inherently the Shang Dynasty will fall after another rebellion at the Battle of Muye, bringing to
power the Zhou Dynasty from 1046 226 BCE. China eventually will fall under three more Dynasty

the population is equal. The overarching themes that make up culture are religion, economics,
politics, food, and social stratification. All themes appear to be equal throughout a culture; however,
the three main themes that can completely alter a culture are religion, economics, and politics.
These main themes play an existential role in how the Chinese culture for the most part remains

Essay on Weapons Used in World War II
World War II is one of the most recognized battles in the history of the world. The battle originated
with Germany s invasion of Poland. This sparked the beginning of the war, though the United
States was not yet involved. The U.S. came into the picture after the attack on Pearl Harbor on the
morning of December 7, 1941. Though Japan was the more direct opponent , the United States
Army Rangers, Marine Corps., and every other branch of military took on Japan and Germany.
Fighting on the Frontlines One of the more famous battles in the war was the Invasion of

This weapon was typically on a tripod to steady the bouncing that came with automatic fire. One
of the more unpredictable attacks came from the Arisaka Bolt Action Rifle. Rifles were
recognized in WWII for their long range and accuracy. This gun could be used with or without a
scope. When scoped, range was greatly increased, as the shooter could see farther distances and
put a round down range with precision. Though this wasn t the primary weapon for most of the
soldiers, it was favored by snipers for its precision at long ranges.
Weapons of Destruction
American soldiers were using fairly new weapons compared to previous conflicts. The fully
automatic assault rifle was new addition to the American arsenal. A prime example of the sheer
power and deadliness of an automatic rifle is the M1918BAR (Browning Automatic Rifle). This
gun was the first of it s kind for American forces. Though it was a bit heavy, it had stopping
power. It blasted the .30 06 Springfield round down range at 2,822 f/s. Although the iron sights
weren t all that great, the aperture view did the job quite well for targets that were a little ways

Analysis Of The Movie Iron Jawed Angels By Martin...
There have been many great activist in history, fighting against the oppression of African
Americans. Martin Luther King Jr is famous for his I have a dream speech that took place on
August 28, 1963. Dr. King led to the ending of the legal segregation among black and white
people. In Dr. Kings essay Three ways of Responding to Oppression, he clearly states three ways to
deal with oppression. Dr. King believed the best defense against oppression being that of nonviolent
resistance. The film Iron Jawed Angels (IJA) is also great example of oppression with the
struggle to women rights in the United States. Mr. King stated that there are three ways of
oppression that oppressed people deal with, acquiescence, physical violence, and nonviolent
resistance. One must come out of their comfort zone in order to see new and in most cases
better outcomes. Mr. King said, In every movement towards freedom some of the oppressed
prefer to remain oppressed . This is exactly what happens in some cases, where the person prefers
to continue with the unjust being done just because they know no other way or because they
have become so accustom to that life style. For example, slaves started to get so use to being just
slaves that they would not protest to try to have a better life style. Some did not think that they
could have a better life, or even thought they did not deserve a better life since they had been told
so many times. In the film IJA, they give a great example with the senators

Pompeii, By Janet Scott Batchler And Lee Batchler
The film that I selected for this film review is Pompeii, a 2014 historical disaster movie that was
directed by Paul W.S. Anderson and written by Janet Scott Batchler and Lee Batchler. The movie
was adapted from a 2003 book with the same title that was written by Robert Harris. I chose
Pompeii because I heard about the devastating event that took place in the ancient Roman city in
various television programs and books. As a result, I wanted to learn more about the event and the
daily life of Pompeii before the volcanic eruption occurred. I thought that watching the movie would
give me insight about Pompeii and the ancient Roman civilization. In addition, I also chose this
film because it features talented actors such as Kit Harington, Adewale Akinnuoye Agbaje, Carrie
Anne Moss, and Emily Browning. The historical context of Pompeii is the eruption of Mt.
Vesuvius in 79 CE that did significant damage to the city of Pompeii and Herculaneum, a town
northwest of Pompeii. Before the eruption, Pompeii was an important and lively city filled with
thousands of inhabitants. According to Dorothy Hinshaw Patent, the author of Lost City of
Pompeii, a book that has detailed information on the city, states, Estimates of its population run
from 6,400 to 30,000 , but most experts think that between 8,000 and 12,000 people lived there
year round (Patent 14). The eruption of Mt. Vesuvius, an active volcano situated near the Bay of
Naples, occurred on August 24, 79 CE. The volcanic eruption

Witch Hunts In The 19th Century
From the 1480s to early 1800s, mass hysteria erupted throughout the European continent. These
cases of witches and demonic possession, along with minor events of hysteria that ran rapid
throughout Europe. This resulted in suspicions and persecutions that continue today.
Most witch hunts were started during backdrops of social, economical, or religious change. The
generalized stress branched from these backdrops, including the epidemics and natural disasters,
seem to be the major cause of all hysterical outbreaks. Such as some malign conspiracy, one of the
rumor panics, was attempting to destroy the Christian religions through poison, witchcraft and
demons. These hunts come and go for nearly three centuries, in variations to time. The range of
death varied from the 26,000 estimated deaths in Germany to the lowest four deaths in Ireland.
Also, research points out that in the more rapidly developing countries, where the Catholic churches

Utilitarianism And Pleasure
In video 2, Sandel discuss the issue of whether there are values to everything, some believe that
not everything have a price while some believe that there has to be a value for everything in order
for people to decide which lead to more happiness. Then on part 2 he further discusses that whether
there are distinction between higher pleasure and lower pleasure? This issue started with the
discussion of utilitarianismwho was founded by Jeremy Bentham. Jeremy Bentham believe that the
greatest good is for an individual or a politician is to maximize the community s happiness,
therefore before making policy, law or even saying what is just or not, the individual and politician

Based on Jeremy Bentham, he believe that we can measure pleasure, The magnitude of a pleasure
is the duration multiplied by the intensity of the pleasure. (Archie, 1). Therefore the highest
pleasure is simply just pleasure that give you the strongest intensity and longest duration. Bentham
also said in one of his famous quote quantity of pleasure being equal, pushpin is as good as poetry.
In my opinion what Bentham is trying to say is that whatever things we choose to do is the higher
pleasure, quality doesn t matter, but the quantity is important. However, John Stuart Mill disagree
with Bentham. He believe that quality of pleasure is important Mill himself presents the claim
that mental pleasures are better than physical to be because humans prefer to exist in a way that
engages their higher faculties (Mill 56). We are unwilling to sink low due to our dignity as
humans (Mill 57). We are not swine, to be satisfied with the pleasure of pigs. (Bhardwaj, 5). Mill
believe that reading a book is higher pleasure than playing video games and to know that, human
need education. But, he also noted that sometimes people chooses lower pleasure over the
higher pleasure but the fact is, deep down in their mind the other choices are still a higher
pleasure. In my opinion, I believe in Jeremy Bentham s way of measuring pleasure, because I
believe that whatever we chooses to do is the one with a higher pleasure. For example, reading
Shakespeare or sitting at home playing video games, many people would choose to play video
game rather than Shakespeare because most people would feel that video give out most pleasure
but Shakespeare would give people a headache rather than

Impacted Wisdom Teeth
Your third molars, aka wisdom teeth, develop in your late teens, but are so far back in your mouth
that they often cannot erupt properly. This is so common that the American Academy of Oral and
Maxillofacial Surgeons says that 90 percent of people have at least one wisdom tooth that is
impacted. Dentists frequently recommend their removal because they can become infected, cause
gum problems or damage neighboring teeth.
While millions of people have their wisdom teeth extracted each year, the Academy of General
Dentistry explains that even though these are more difficult extractions, most everyone heals
without problems and is back in commission within a few days. However, one common
complication that can extend your recovery time is a dry socket.
A dry socket comes about when the blood clot, beginning to form in the area of the extraction,
becomes dislodged or dissolves, leaving bone and nerve endings exposed. This is a painful
condition that your oral surgeon will need to treat right

Framingham, Massachusetts which was considered representative of the 66190 residents living in
west/ southwest of Boston. The study began after applying oral survey to all first and second grade
students in Framingham from 2000 to 2009. In this period of time, all students were screened for
the number of teethfilled, number of teeth with untreated decay, number of teeth extracted, existing
sealants on the first molar, and identification of first molars in need of sealant. And then the dental
officials applied sealant to the molars of those students who had high potential of developing carries.
Although students were identified and informed of the dental care they needed, just 29% of
students in 2003 were willing to receive sealants. In 2004, just 26% of the students were willing to

The Moldau Essay
Connie Ju| [The Moldau] Smetana | Year 11 Music 2 Musicology Essay|
|
Smetana s Moldau is a musical portrayal of the main river which runs through the countryside of
Bohemia (present day Czech Republic).
The piece begins with a sweet one bar theme that is played by two solo flutes, representing the
trickle of a small creek. The soft melody played in piano and lusingando , which means to be
played in a coaxing style, convey the delicate and smoothness of the water. The ascending semi
quavers accompanied with a slight crescendo at the beginning of the phrase as well as a two
quaver rests at the end of the bar create a rippling effect, symbolising the slight waves of a stream.
Furthermore, the lone plucked pizzicato quavers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The polyphonic texture consists of two major layers and the randomly placed pizzicato chords
which are a reminder of water s unpredictable motions.
Bar 16 (flutes, clarinets, strings polyphonic texture)
The two small rivers that make up the larger Moldau meets at bar 28 where the clarinets stop for
a bar and the violas begin their melody. This short bar acts as a bridge, the connection where the
bodies of water finally merge to create a great river. The bigger river in bar 29 is conveyed by
the three different layers, flutes, clarinets, and violas. Continuous semi quavers that rise and fall in
pitch still represent the fluidity and continuity of the water but now the extra layer means that the
river is wilder with bigger waves and other movements. Bar 28 (melodies played by flutes and
strings) Bar 29 30 (flutes, clarinets, viola)
Bar 36 sees even more layers as the strings begin to play the flowing melody of the river. The
start of the larger body of water is indicated by a strong perfect cadence by the lower strings (bar
36). At the widest point of the river, bar 40, the whole orchestra plays. All the instruments playing
together expresses the notion that this is the climax of the river and it is wildest at this point. The
wind instruments, however, play a slower melody of

False Memory, Pseudo-Memory Distortion
False memory syndrome is also called Recovered memory, Pseudo Memory, and Memory
Distortion. False memory syndrome or pseudo memory is memories of an experience, in which
one seemingly remembers that never actually or really occurred. In other words, false memory is a
fabricated remembrance of past events that did not really happen. People often falsely thought of
memories as recorder that are records accurately of all the experience in our brain but, memories
are not always true and accurate and may contain delusions. People might be confident with their

Self hypnosis can sometimes result in the creation of false memories because the belief that
something happened could be so strong in an individual s conscious mind that it force a memory
to adapt to the belief, even if the event had never happened. A statistic that a psychologist at Ohio
State University in Lima and fellow researchers found about hypnosis was that even when people
were warned about the likelihood of acquiring pseudo memories or false memories under
hypnosis, more than a quarter of the people still want to be treated using the technique. There are
raging controversies over the use of hypnosis to help people recall lost memories of early trauma
due to the false accusation of cultural expectation that hypnosis will lead more accurate memories.
A case study conducted by Dr. Joseph Green, whose a Professor of Psychologyat Ohio State

divided into two groups to test the controversies. Before they were hypnotized, 32 of the students
were warned about hypnosis could lead to false memories and other memories that they would not

Joseph Green, the result of the experiment was that the warning that was given to the 32 students

HIV In Haiti
Haiti is one of the regions with the highest HIV infection rate, especially in Caribbean. About 3% of
adults are infected. The reason for that are poverty, sexual partners, gender, and almost non existing
health care.
The epidemic started in late 70s due to prostitution, blood transfusion and unprotected sex. Around
the same time the epidemic was discovered in the USA, and the virus was found in Haitians
immigrants. Because of that Haiti become one of the risk factors for HIV. The stigma brought
disastrous consequences to the whole country, including the collapse of tourism.
At the beginning, the disease was associated with male homosexual behavior, but the virus spread
quickly to the heterosexual population. Now women are more likely to get infected than man
because of their lower position in society. Rape, unprotected sex and prostitution increase their
chances of HIV. Most of the pregnant women with HIV gave it to their children. Now a lot of
efforts are taken to prevent it. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Tyranny Of White Majority Essay
The United States, even though considered the land of freedom, has been struggling with lingering
racism and discrimination throughout the 19th and 20th century. Democratic reform throughout the
century were implanted to eliminate the tyranny of the white majority Yet many scholars like
Tocqueville, Fredrick Harris and WEB DuBois have challenged these results. The reality is that the
tyranny of white majority has continued throughout the 18th to the 21st century resulting in a
society that has suppressed and constantly failed to integrate African Americaninto the white society
by neglecting the race, using natural prejudice, race neutral policies, and laws that benefited whites
more than African Americans.
Even before the 13th amendment and emancipation of slaves, small reforms in the northern
states were being implemented to create a true free society. One would argue that these reforms
were the first steps of a liberal reform that would lead to the eventual equality amongst the two
races but what is forgotten is that even though reforms were passed the white majority had a
natural prejudice. Tocqueville explains what makes the natural prejudice was the disgrace the
African American ethnicity received by being forced as slaves. This slavery was based on race
rather than being like ancient slavery which had nothing to do the face of a person (PG 400). The
African Americans who were considered free during the that were still disgraced because as

The Pros And Cons Of Fake News
Fake news is a problem that has affected everyone, especially politics, you ve might of encounter
them before but they re hard to indicate them. Fake news are false articles or stories that are
passed down as true. These fake news are categorized into three different spots. The categories are
Satirical news, clickbait, and Partisanbias articles. Satirical news or satireis a type of parody
presented in a format typical of mainstream journalism. According to merriam webster clickbait is
something (such as a headline) designed to make readers want to click on a hyperlink especially
when the link leads to content of dubious value or interest . Partisan bias articles are articles made
by an adherent or supporter of a person, group, and party that shows favors of or shows being
against one thing. Even though there many articles out there, Indicating whether they re real is
hard but not impossible.
First of all many have thoughts and wonder why are fake articles harmful ? They re so harmful in
fact that big internet programs like Google and Facebook are attempting to remove them from
their sites. Fake articles are harmful because they spread false information about a topic. The
information spread by a false article can cripple or ruin someone s reputation. For example the new
york times made a article about Eric Tucker. Eric tucker a man in Austin, Texas, with only about 40
Twitter followers, fueled a nationwide conspiracy theory about demonstrations against Mr. Trump.

J.D. Salinger was an American author well known for his best seller The Catcher in the Rye, a
considerably influential novel that portrayed the feelings of alienation that were experienced by
adolescents in North America after World War II ( J.D. Salinger Biography ). Salinger s work

Its profanity has been declared in numerous states, as parents claim to be fearful that their
children will be scarred by the events and foul language in the novel (Reiff). This fear has been
elevated so much, in fact, that in the 1960s there were teachers from Kentucky, Okla, Tulsa, and
Louisville that almost lost their jobs for assigning the novel to their classes. As a result of this, the
book was prohibited in many school libraries (Dutra). Many people in North America also find the
references to sexual acts and prostitution to be completely disturbing, and consider them to be
pornographic and encouraging of premarital sex, homosexuality and perversion (Reiff). This
concern was much more prominent in the years leading up to the 1970s, when most of society was
not open to this type of literature. Additionally, rebellion and deception are consistently displayed
in Holden s thoughts and actions, and his obsession with human intimacy may send the message to
young people that sexual intercouse is an appropriate thing for a person to discuss and think about

many justify as reason enough to ban the novel, many critics argue that the story gives young

Dress Codes Challenges
A major challenge students face today is dress code. Dress codes unfairly target students based
on gender and body type, but more specifically targets female students. Every school has a
different dress code. But most dress codes ban leggings, shorts and short skirts, and bare

said before, dress codes specifically target female students. The reason most people give for
having dress codes is so that the girls clothing won t distract the boys. An example is leggings.
Girls wear leggings to be comfortable. Wearing leggings is no different than wear super tight

Relationship Between White And White Populations
As the three largest cities in the United States, New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago are also
epicenters of precipitous segregation. Even with the passage of federal law to curtail segregation
and promote more integrated communities, conditions have only improved minimally if at all
between 1980 and 2000. In New York, the indices of dissimilarity between different races have
remained constant over this time period. Between white and black populations, for example, the
index of dissimilarity only ranges between 82.8 and 83.5. This signifies very minute and
insignificant changes within a 20 year period, and such changes even indicate worsening
conditions. Similarly, when using this index to examine the relationship between whites and
Hispanics, segregation has increased by three percentage points between 1980 and 2000.
Therefore, New York is an urban center that has seen relatively unchanged racial segregation, and
any changes mainly reveal exacerbated conditions. Los Angeles, on the other hand, seems to show
greater changes in dissimilarity among different races. When considering segregation between
black and white populations, the index of dissimilarity decreased from 85 in 1980 to 71.5 in 2000.
This is significantly greater than the fractional change observed in New York City. Likewise,
dissimilarity between whites and Asians has decreased from 51.7 to 44.9. Yet, Los Angeles shares
one similar trend with New York. From 1980 to 2000, the index of segregation between

Peaceful Resistance Thesis
Peaceful resistance is a very controversial issue in this day in age. Many Americans, if asked,
probably have many varying views and opinions on what peaceful resistance is. For some it could
be marching down the streets with signs, while for others its shouting their rights without causing
any violence. Now to me, peaceful resistance is when one or multiples stand for what they deem
right or wrong without causing any harm to others. To me this serves as a positive because not
only does it allow for people to be heard, but also for others to listen. When a peaceful protesttakes

Resistance can cause tension and division between people, but peaceful resistance is a pathway for
those to express themselves without violence. In all honesty I think the positives trump the
negatives because in the end they are fighting for what they want and what they should rightfully
have. Isn t that what America has been built off of? The fight for what we want and what we know
is right, while proving that is so. And for those who question What has happened to us? Why is it

happens in our lives and that is something not many see everyday. For example, my town is very

Odysseus is Not a Hero for the Modern Age Essay
Many would argue that Odysseus is more of a villain nowadays, for every instance of his
wiliness or feats of strength there are several of venality, vice, cruelty, or selfishness. The
episode of the Sirens,(Book 12), is one example. The only reason Odysseus ties himself up to the

that he chooses the jeopardous choice, wanting to go down in the books by being the first man to

A Method of Doubt and Descartes Essay
A Method of Doubt and Descartes
In his first meditation, Descartes sets out with amazing clarity and persistence to clear himself of
every false idea that he has acquired previous to this, and determine what he truly knows. To rid
him of these rotten apples he has developed a method of doubt with a goal to construct a set of
beliefs on foundations which are indubitable. On these foundations, Descartes applies three levels
of skepticism, which in turn, generate three levels at which our thoughts may be deceived by error.
Descartes states quite explicitly in the synopsis, that we can doubt all things which are material as
long as we have no foundations for the sciences other than those which we have had up till now

sees that he has a paper in his hand and concludes that it is a paper, and what is meant by through
the senses, is that his beliefs may have been based on others sense experience. All Descartes
requires for the second premise is the possibility that he may have been deceived, for if he
cannot decide which is wrong, than he must not have any knowledge. This leads to the third
premise where it seems at least reasonable to assume, that if one has been deceived previously,
there is no absolute assurance that it is presently correct. Therefore, there is a chance of being
deceived about everything. But many critics will argue that several of these false percepts can
be corrected by means of alternative senses, such as he bent stick in water example. Although our
sight may be tricked into thinking that the mirage exists, by using the sense of touch we can
correct this falseness, and uncover what truly exists. Descartes does retreat, and assess the
damage from his first level by saying, there are many other beliefs about which doubt is quite
impossible, even though they are derived from the senses for example, that I am here, sitting by
the fire, wearing a winter dressing gown.. (1:18[12]). Here even he objects to the validity of his

Analysis Of Outcasts In Gregory Boyle s Tattoos On The...
Outcasts in society are in need of love and compassion. In the book Tattoos on The Heart by
Gregory Boyle, Father Greg gives gang members an opportunity to better themselves by providing
them with jobs. Attention makes gang members realize they are worthy.
Giving gang members attention makes them apprehend that they are worthy. Yolanda, an active
woman from the parish, expressed to Speedy, Sabes que, mijo, she says, Te digo una cosa. If
anything happened to you, it would break my heart in two ... You know, he says, tapping his heart
with his finger, That sh*t made me feel good (Boyle 58). Speedy was hanging out with a girl from
a rival gang, which he knew was extremely dangerous, but he didn t care whether he lived or died.
Speedy understood that he was a worthy person when Yolanda expressed to him that there is
people who care for him and his wellbeing.
Gang members recognize they are worthy when they receive attention. Father Greg explains the
reaction Lula, a young ex gang member, had when he states, I roll down my window and catch his
attention Hey, Lula. You would have thought I had electrocuted him. His whole body spasmed
with delight to be known, to be called, to hear his name uttered out loud (Boyle 47). Father Greg
acknowledged Lula and made conversation with him. This made him feel happy because Father
Greg knew who he was and took the time to converse with him. Even the smallest form of attention
can help a gang member understand they are someone who

Why Is Ireland Better Than America
Hook. Intro. Ireland and America. In terms of economy, safety and society; Ireland is statistically a
better place to live than America. Economy is a big part of a country, especially for the people.
Unemployment, homeless, and debt are all impacting things on people involving the economy. As

Religious diversity is good because with diversity it proves openness towards everyone and
freedom of choice. Most of Ireland is Roman Catholic with 78.3% of the population identifying
as Roman Catholic (Faith Survey). In 2014 78% of Americans identified as Christian (Pew
Research). Maybe include a little bit more about how they are diverse. They both have religious
diversity but definitely lean towards a certain religion. Ethnic diversity shows freedom to be
who you are as well as HELP. About 77% of Americans were considered to be white alone in
2016 according to the U.S. Census (Census Bureau). In Ireland 82.2% are Irish and 9.5% are
other white in 2016 (Index Mundi). White is prominent in both countries, they both have
smaller percents of other ethnic origins REWORD. Equality is also important, and two
important and big examples are marriage and transgender equality. In 2015 both America and
Ireland legalized marriage equality. Ireland votes showed 68% of people were in favor of marriage
equality (The Guardian). While in America a poll showed 55% of people were in favor of
marriage equality (Pew Research). Ireland had more supporting equality, but they both passed
marriage equality. The Gender Recognition Act passed in 2015 makes it so Irish people over 18

America Vote Act ( Hava )
I was surprised to discover that voter identification began in 1950 when South Carolina became
the first state to request some form of identification from voters at the polling precincts. Then
Hawaii followed in 1970, Texas in 1971, Florida in 1977, and Alaska in 1980. Some of them
asked for an ID with a photo, while others asked for any type of document with or without a
photo; all provided other means for people to vote if they couldn t present identification. By 2000,
fourteen states were asking for voter identification documents ( Voter ID ). That year, we had a
highly disputed presidential election. Following its outcome, the United StatesCongress passed the
Help America Vote Act (HAVA) in 2002, which ushered in comprehensive election reform. Under
the law, states are required to follow mandatory minimum standards that included implementing
new programs and procedures such as provisional voting; voting information and voter education;
upgraded, tested and certified voting technology; statewide voter registration list; voter
identification procedures; and an improved election administration system ( Help America Vote Act
). The Commission on Federal Election Reform advocated similar propositions in their 2005 report
(69 70). Consequently, voter ID laws were enacted around the country. The laws require eligible
voters to produce government issued identification before casting a countable ballot at the polls.
Voter identification, categorized between strict and

Mt Holmes Off The Edge
Off the Edge, broadcasted on the 28th of February on 60 Minutes is a documentary about real life
superman JT Holmes and his career in extreme sports. This documentary s intention is to legitimize
the name of extreme sports and inspire others to try it. This is achieved through a range of
positioning techniques. Strategic inclusion and exclusions can ensure the audience perceives
Holmes as a professional athlete thereby adopting the viewpoint the director is promoting. An
inclusion near the beginning was the near death experience of Holmes when he was buried alive in
an avalanche just one week before the filming of the documentary. In my opinion this is quite
effective as it is showing the dark side from the start rather than trying to hide... Show more content

As it is about extreme sports it needs to capture the beauty and danger. It incorporates many high
angled very wide shots to put emphasis on placing him in his environment and showing just how
small and insignificant he is in the vast white expanse that is the face of nature. This allows the
audience to track his progress skiing down the mountain while providing a sense of perspective.
The follow shots used are very effective as it feels as though we are looking through the eyes of
the skiers as they hurtle down mountains. This effect is magnified when it shows them going off
the edge and their skis and a portion of their legs are visible. The music creates the atmosphere
and mood. It is light, cheerful and upbeat when he is doing leisure skiing and in the file footage
of his previous stunts. The music adopts a more sombre tone when discussing the death of his
friend and is dramatic when he was caught in the avalanche as well as performing his Mt Eiger
stunt to add suspense. On Mt Eiger there is a high pitch sound that gets louder the closer he gets to
the edge, then ceases when he jumps. As he falls there is a tempo that increases until he releases the

Hillary Clinton Viewpoints
The Democratic and Republican Party primaries are over. America is left with two main candidates
to choose from in the upcoming U.S. presidential election this coming November: Donald Trump
and Hillary Clinton. As of right now, both candidates are still considered presumptive in their
respective parties until each party holds their national convention and officially nominates them.
Barring a Hillary Clinton indictment, one of those two will become the next president of the United
States.
Gary Johnson, the Libertarian party presidential candidate, will not be elected as the next president.
An independent candidate, nominated by the self proclaimed anti Trump conservatives, will not be
elected as the next president. Nominating an anti Trump ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
has a major problem with illegal immigration. The reason the U.S. has a problem with illegal
immigration is because we have an administration and political party that allows it. The liberal
argument is that illegal immigrants contribute so much to our economy. But the truth is illegal
immigrants take more than they contribute. According to a study conducted by Federation for
American Immigration Reform (FAIR), in 2013, illegal immigrants cost U.S. tax payers $113
billion while only contributing $1.27 billion. The majority of the $1.27 billion was in sales
taxes from purchasing consumer products. $84 billion of the $112 was from state and local tax
dollars. The study used examples of how different states are operating at a fiscal deficit
compared to how much illegal immigrants were costing the state. One example is California.
California, facing a budget deficit of $14.4 billion in 2010 2011, is hit with an estimated $21.8
billion in annual expenditures on illegal aliens. On top of the tax and other financial burden,
illegal immigrants are taking away blue collar and unskilled jobs from Americans, leaving many
American workers unemployed. Donald Trump plans to stop illegal immigration by deporting
illegal aliens and building a wall on the U.S Mexican border that Mexico will pay for. Once again,
this is not racist. It may be unfair to the illegal immigrants, but it is not racist because of the
enormous financial impact illegal immigrants has on

Comparison Of Animal Farm And Moby Dick
Animals are a staple of childhood we are surrounded by them from birth into adulthood; hence, the
overwhelming mountain of stuffed animals and picture books sifted through at our transition into
maturity. Notably, animals appear in a variety of works, from children s literature to classics like
George Orwell s AnimalFarm and Herman Melville s Moby Dick. Recently, the scientific
community has obsessed itself with identifying a clear, distinctive boundary between humans and
animals, while the literary world has challenged scientific thought by blurring the boundaries
between the two. In fact, several pieces of literature attempt to eradicate any similarities by
presenting readers with a blend of humanand animal characters who serve a... Show more content

However, in Scene Eight, Eugene O Neill introduces a true animal character: a large ape, who is
the ultimate demise of Yank. In an attempt to connect with his supposed kind , Yank releases the
ape and unfortunately, the ape attacks him and leaves him in the cage to die. It is an ironic death,
yet symbolizes the boundary between humans and animals because an animal was able to take the
life of an ever superior human. The interaction causes readers to question whether or not there is a
clear boundary between humans and animals because an animal is able to take the entire essence
of a human away from us: life. Gabriel GarcГa MГЎrquez comments on the abilities of humans
and animals in his popular short story, A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings , by introducing
readers to a humanimal: a character who is both human and animal. The character is presented as an
angel with exceptional human like characteristics, so he is greatly criticized by the Church. On the
other hand, the townspeople view him as a spectacle in fact, the married couple who discovered the
tattered humanimal creates an enterprise based upon his differences from them. The interaction
between the townspeople and the angel is one of interest, as observed in the two quotes:

The Christian Gospels On The Gospel Of The Kingdom Of God
Over the entire history of humankind, people have been struggling to get the meaning of life. They
have been searching for an existence filled with love, peace, and joy, whereby the essential need for
relationship, esteem, security, protection, provision, and safety is an uncompromised guarantee. As
a result, during Christ s ascension, He founded a church and tasked the congregation with
continuing his work. The church preached the message to the entire world. According to Matthew
24:14, [the] gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world... was the ultimate directive
of Christ to the church. In this view, the apostles gave sermons on the gospel of the Kingdom of God
(Acts 8:12; 14:22; 28:23). Therefore, the primary teaching of Jesusrevolves around the kingdom of
God.
It is evident that the Jesus principle message was about the kingdom of God. According to Mark
1:14 15, Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of
the kingdom of God and saying, the time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent
ye, and believe the gospel. The message correlates with Isaiah 40:9, ... be not afraid; say unto the
cities of Judah, Behold your God! The two statements illustrate that the kingdom of God has drawn
closer. However, the contentious issue is the determination whether the coming of Jesus Christ
brought the kingdom of God or drew it closer. Beasley Murray indicates that interpretation should
provide two parallel

The Epic Of Gilgamesh Essay
Tonisia Tutt Professor Andre World Literature 1 October 11, 2015 The Epic of Gilgamesh does
not quite have a happy end. Truthfully, Gilgamesh is not successful in his mission. It is
shortsighted and deceived to expect that Gilgamesh, the saint, must be effective in his journey to
hold the characteristics of courage. An unsuccessful journey not harsh any more than a
courageous ending is essentially joyful. For recognitions of this, we need to look no more distant
than the plenty of thoughtful legends of great writing the stories of Homer, Virgil s Aeneid, and
even Beowulf of the Anglo Saxon abstract convention. The Illiad end with the slaughter of Troy
and the passing of Achilles. The Odyssey, in spite of the fact that it sees the saint restored home,
in any case includes an entirely tough cost. The Aeneid, in like manner, shows in disaster. Like
Achilles, Odysseus, Aeneas, and various other exemplary legends, Gilgamesh too shows those
qualities vital to an ordinary scholarly saint, none of which needs to do, truth be told, with the
unique idea of pleasure. In spite of the fact that achievement is quite unimportant to the bravery of
a specific journey, maybe the first indicate considered in Gilgamesh is that the legend might really
make progress. His level of progress depends to a limited extent on what he needs to accomplish
and what he accomplish. Given the included creative component of the epic that they are
developments of one or more creators the accomplishment

Ethnology. The Story Of Colonized People Has A Similar
Ethnology The story of colonized people has a similar tone in many parts of the world, but the
situation with the colonization of Australia is very similar to the story of the colonization of North
America by the Europeans. Both of these cases share similar issues and outcomes. First off, both
groups are typically generalized as one group in this case, the Aborigines and the Native Americans.
However, these groups are made up of many smaller clans or tribes that each had a unique language
and culture. Additionally, they both lived in a variety of different areas throughout their respective
continents, and thus it is hard to generalize them. Both the Aborigines and the Native American

Many of them live in high rate of poverty, similar to other indigenous groups around the world. As
of 2013, the disposable income of an indigenous person in Australia is about 70% of that of a non
indigenous person. This can be contributed to the fact that non indigenous people have much better
access to education, especially at the university level, and also to racial discrimination. Their lower
income means that they often live in very poor conditions according to an article published by the
Australian Broadcasting Corporation, their conditions can often be deemed fifth world . Many of
Aboriginal people in Central Australia are living in humpies , which are huts often constructed from
tree bark and branches, or shelters made from old car bodies. Alan Hudson, a former government
business manager, says that there was little improvement to the living conditions from the 1970s to
today.
Another problem that many Aboriginal people face is overcrowding of houses. In the Aboriginal
community on Palm Island, the average number of people to one house is seventeen, and about
27% of the population of Aboriginals live in overcrowded houses. The more remote the Aboriginal
community is, the more likely they are to suffer from poor living conditions. In 2006, the UN
declared that Australia had the worst Indigenous housing conditions in world.
The conditions which these people live in leads them to higher

Ethical Dilemmas In Wells Fargo

The On The Land Registration Act CRITICALLY ANALYZE THE CHANGES BROUGHT ABOUT BY THE LAND REGISTRATION ACT 2012 IN THE MANAGEMENT OF REAL PROPERTY IN KENYA TAKING NOTE TO EXPLORE IN DETAIL THE FRAMEWORK THAT HAS BEEN RELACED. INTRODUCTION The land registration ACT is an act of Parliament to revise, consolidate and rationalize the registration of titles to land, to give effect to the principles and objects of devolved government in land registration, and for connected purposes. What was being revised is the old registration act which had to be altered to accommodate the changes in the government layout and the mountain of complains they were receiving from the public. The new act had to be physically more solid and efficient if implemented well. The loopholes that were found in the earlier act had to be done away with. Land is one of the most controversial things in Kenya. So many people have been displaced and their land grabbed by individuals who have developed talent in this sector who have made it a business venture. Land that was designated for agriculture and also as green zone have been depleted which has led major cities in Kenya such as Nairobi unsustainable. The current situation in Kenya is such that people do not know the boundary of their land and most of the time they encroach on peoples land which has led to major conflicts. The revised land registration act wants to remedy this situation so that Kenya can be a safe zone when for both the citizens and investors. Land under Article 260 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Colonel Lloyd s Cruelty Analysis In the Narrative of the Life Frederick Douglass he writes about Colonel Lloyd s cruelty. Douglass states it in such a matter that makes one feel as if the experience with Lloyd was terrible If any one wishes to be impressed with the soul killing effect of slavery, let him go to Colonel Lloyds plantation. (Gates, 324) Colonel Lloyd kept a garden which offered employment for four men. Throughout the plantation this garden seemed to be the biggest attraction. It produced a verity of fruits that appealed to the eyes of many boys and older slaves. If slaves were to dare and steal fruit from Lloyd s garden they would have to take a lashing for their actions. The Colonel tried using different methods in attempt to keep the slaves out of his garden. The most successful one... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Old Barney and Young Barney were the two slaves signed to take care of the horses. The slightest inattention to his horses was unpardonable, and was visited upon those, under whose care they were placed, with the severest punishment; no excuse could shield them. (Gates. 226) Although taking care of horses might seem like a easy and more favorable job it was on was not easy at all. These two slaves never when they were safe from punishment. They were frequently whipped; Lloyd had a twisted way of punishing them they were whipped when they least deserved it, and excused when they mostly deserved it. Everything depended on the work and looks of the horses as well as the state in which the Colonel s mind was that day. For example if the horse was not moving fast enough or would not hold his head up high it the fault of the keepers and for that they were punished. The keepers never knew what might happen next for instance the one would never know what they colonel wanted his demands would change within seconds. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Certain models predict that drought activity is expected to increase toward the end of the 21st century and particularly in the Colorado River Basin (MacDonald Turner, 21260). When the dam was built in the early 20th century, annual flow was about 17.0 MAF (million acre feet) at Lees Ferry, Arizona which is a few miles below the dam. Estimates calculating the past MAF of the Colorado River average to about 13.8 14.6 over the last 450 years. Thus, the dam was built in a period with an unexpectedly high MAF. Alarmingly in 2000 the river averaged less than 9 MAF. (Bolin, Seetharam, Pompeii, 263). In 2002, the river reached a low of about 6.2 MAF (MacDonald Turner, 21256). Some models estimate that the river could reach the range of 1.5 to 4.5 MAF in the next 30 50 years. (Bolin, Seetharam, Pompeii, 271). The reduction of MAF in the Colorado River is due to drought. Droughts have been occurring throughout the 20th century with droughts from 1900 1904, 1924 1936, 1953 1964, and 1988 1991. These droughts are associated with warmer regional temperatures and the level of warming is deemed exceptional for the 21st century (MacDonald Turner, 21257). Recently the Colorado River has experienced the lowest 5 year mean flows on record (MacDonald Turner, 21257). If river flow is low, so is Lake Powell s water level. One study suggests that Lake Powell have a 50% chance of receding to inoperable status by the 2020 s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Plagiarism is the act of taking the work or a idea of someone else, and passing it off as your own (Webster). Now, there are two main types of plagiarism: intentional and unintentional. Intentional plagiarism is when someone copies words, ideas, or phrases and purposefully pass it off as their own, all without giving credit to the correct source. On the other hand, unintentional plagiarism is when someone cites poorly, or if they didn t know that someone else had an idea, and they pass it off as their own, thinking they were the first to come up with it. Each state will have a certain number of representatives, and also pay direct taxes, on the basis of population size (US Constitution 1 2). This excerpt from the US Constitution talks a lot about power being divided in the government, by having three different branches, judicial, executive, and legislative. The judiciary is the Supreme Court, which is addressed about later in the US Constitution, the executive is the president, and the legislative is the Senate and the House of Representatives. It doesn t directly state it, because the Declaration of Independence talks about how the king of England is unfair, and how he rules poorly. When they state what the king is doing wrong, the reader can infer that the US will do the opposite. Benjamin Thompkins Political Science 3346 Professor Tiede 10/28/15 What are the differences between global human rights regimes and regional human rights regimes? Include one example of a regional human rights regime (write at least 1 page double spaced)(5 points) The most notable example of a global human rights regime is the United Nations, and an example of regional human rights would be the OAS ( Organization of American States). Both entities have focuses that are quite similar and intersecting. The main goal of the UN is displayed in article 1 of the UN Charter which states to maintain international peace and security . Primary concerns of the UN are security, humanitarian assistance, development, and human rights which is recognized in the Universal Declaration of Rights by the UN. However, before there was the UN declaration there was the American Declaration on the Rights and Duties of Man . Despite the similarities both institutions possess there are differences that are apparent in the utilitarian function of each. The UN has a universal influence and system of play, and the OAS plays a smaller role looking over only its specific geographical region of the Americas. While both aim to influence policy and the promotion of human rights there are advantages that come with their differences. The UN has criticized the need for regional institutions like the OAS where they believe the OAS role or goals overlap with those of their own. However, the OAS ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A crew of over 100 of the Earth s best scientists travel to a new world to explore and start a colony. This paper will follow closely with Elon Musk s current plan to put humans on Marsin the not so distant future, and will look into the advanced technologies developed for this purpose. A New World (Intro) There are many questions that need to be answered about how to successfully put humans on Mars and eventually colonize this new world. Yet there are also several new technological advances that have been made or are planned for the near future that will make this groundbreaking mission possible. Some of these critical questions that need to be answered include the following: How will humans have access to drinkable water on Mars? How will humans handle and adapt to a lower gravity environment? What kind of rocket will be used to send humans to Mars? When can we expect that technology to be ready? How is all of this technology supposed to work to put humans on Mars? By answering these questions, we will create a picture of what it will look like when humans finally make it to Mars and start to colonize that new world. Before we dig into the details of the technology, it is important to first ask, why should humans go to Mars? What do we gain from going to Mars? Many scientists have a ... THOMAS HOBBES Thomas Hobbes (1588 1679) was an English philosopher who is best known for his work in political ethics. Hobbes had a pessimistic view of the human race, however his theory has been used as a major influence on western political views. In 1651, Thomas Hobbes wrote Leviathan, in which he states that life before government was violent, brutal, and barbaric. Though this wasn t the primary weapon for most of the soldiers, it was favored by snipers for its precision at long ranges. Weapons of Destruction American soldiers were using fairly new weapons compared to previous conflicts. The fully automatic assault rifle was new addition to the American arsenal. The film Iron Jawed Angels (IJA) is also great example of oppression with the struggle to women rights in the United States. Mr. King stated that there are three ways of oppression that oppressed people deal with, acquiescence, physical violence, and nonviolent resistance. One must come out of their comfort zone in order to see new and in most cases better outcomes. Mr. King said, In every movement towards freedom some of the oppressed prefer to remain oppressed . This is exactly what happens in some cases, where the person prefers to continue with the unjust being done just because they know no other way or because they have become so accustom to that life style. For example, slaves started to get so use to being just slaves that they would not protest to try to have a better life style. This issue started with the discussion of utilitarianismwho was founded by Jeremy Bentham. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Based on Jeremy Bentham, he believe that we can measure pleasure, The magnitude of a pleasure is the duration multiplied by the intensity of the pleasure. (Archie, 1). Therefore the highest pleasure is simply just pleasure that give you the strongest intensity and longest duration. Bentham also said in one of his famous quote quantity of pleasure being equal, pushpin is as good as poetry. In my opinion what Bentham is trying to say is that whatever things we choose to do is the higher pleasure, quality doesn t matter, but the quantity is important. However, John Stuart Mill disagree with Bentham. He believe that quality of pleasure is important Mill himself presents the claim that mental pleasures are better than physical to be because humans prefer to exist in a way that engages their higher faculties (Mill 56). We are unwilling to sink low due to our dignity as humans (Mill 57). We are not swine, to be satisfied with the pleasure of pigs. (Bhardwaj, 5). • 32. The Tyranny Of White Majority Essay The United States, even though considered the land of freedom, has been struggling with lingering racism and discrimination throughout the 19th and 20th century. Democratic reform throughout the century were implanted to eliminate the tyranny of the white majority Yet many scholars like Tocqueville, Fredrick Harris and WEB DuBois have challenged these results. The reality is that the tyranny of white majority has continued throughout the 18th to the 21st century resulting in a society that has suppressed and constantly failed to integrate African Americaninto the white society by neglecting the race, using natural prejudice, race neutral policies, and laws that benefited whites more than African Americans. Even before the 13th amendment and emancipation of slaves, small reforms in the northern states were being implemented to create a true free society. One would argue that these reforms were the first steps of a liberal reform that would lead to the eventual equality amongst the two races but what is forgotten is that even though reforms were passed the white majority had a natural prejudice. Tocqueville explains what makes the natural prejudice was the disgrace the African American ethnicity received by being forced as slaves. This slavery was based on race rather than being like ancient slavery which had nothing to do the face of a person (PG 400). The African Americans who were considered free during the that were still disgraced because as Tocqueville said free ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Fake news are false articles or stories that are passed down as true. These fake news are categorized into three different spots. The categories are Satirical news, clickbait, and Partisanbias articles. Satirical news or satireis a type of parody presented in a format typical of mainstream journalism. According to merriam webster clickbait is something (such as a headline) designed to make readers want to click on a hyperlink especially when the link leads to content of dubious value or interest . Partisan bias articles are articles made by an adherent or supporter of a person, group, and party that shows favors of or shows being against one thing. Even though there many articles out there, Indicating whether they re real is hard but not impossible. First of all many have thoughts and wonder why are fake articles harmful ? They re so harmful in fact that big internet programs like Google and Facebook are attempting to remove them from their sites. Fake articles are harmful because they spread false information about a topic. The information spread by a false article can cripple or ruin someone s reputation. His inspiration for Pencey Prep boarding school in The Catcher in the Rye stemmed from his own difficult education at a military school (Feeney). This fear has been elevated so much, in fact, that in the 1960s there were teachers from Kentucky, Okla, Tulsa, and Louisville that almost lost their jobs for assigning the novel to their classes. As a result of this, the book was prohibited in many school libraries (Dutra). Many people in North America also find the references to sexual acts and prostitution to be completely disturbing, and consider them to be pornographic and encouraging of premarital sex, homosexuality and perversion (Reiff). This concern was much more prominent in the years leading up to the 1970s, when most of society was not open to this type of literature. Additionally, rebellion and deception are consistently displayed in Holden s thoughts and actions, and his obsession with human intimacy may send the message to young people that sexual intercouse is an appropriate thing for a person to discuss and think about regularly. When accounting for all of this, it is difficult to argue that the The Catcher in the Rye should not be censored. Even with the passage of federal law to curtail segregation and promote more integrated communities, conditions have only improved minimally if at all between 1980 and 2000. In New York, the indices of dissimilarity between different races have remained constant over this time period. Between white and black populations, for example, the index of dissimilarity only ranges between 82.8 and 83.5. This signifies very minute and insignificant changes within a 20 year period, and such changes even indicate worsening conditions. Similarly, when using this index to examine the relationship between whites and Hispanics, segregation has increased by three percentage points between 1980 and 2000. Therefore, New York is an urban center that has seen relatively unchanged racial segregation, and any changes mainly reveal exacerbated conditions. Los Angeles, on the other hand, seems to show greater changes in dissimilarity among different races. When considering segregation between black and white populations, the index of dissimilarity decreased from 85 in 1980 to 71.5 in 2000. This is significantly greater than the fractional change observed in New York City. Likewise, dissimilarity between whites and Asians has decreased from 51.7 to 44.9. Many Americans, if asked, probably have many varying views and opinions on what peaceful resistance is. For some it could be marching down the streets with signs, while for others its shouting their rights without causing any violence. Now to me, peaceful resistance is when one or multiples stand for what they deem right or wrong without causing any harm to others. To me this serves as a positive because not only does it allow for people to be heard, but also for others to listen. Odysseus is Not a Hero for the Modern Age Essay Many would argue that Odysseus is more of a villain nowadays, for every instance of his wiliness or feats of strength there are several of venality, vice, cruelty, or selfishness. The episode of the Sirens,(Book 12), is one example. The only reason Odysseus ties himself up to the mast, when instead he could have simply plugged his ears with wax like the rest of his crew, is that he chooses the jeopardous choice, wanting to go down in the books by being the first man to ever listen to the Sirens song and live. A Method of Doubt and Descartes Essay A Method of Doubt and Descartes In his first meditation, Descartes sets out with amazing clarity and persistence to clear himself of every false idea that he has acquired previous to this, and determine what he truly knows. To rid him of these rotten apples he has developed a method of doubt with a goal to construct a set of beliefs on foundations which are indubitable. On these foundations, Descartes applies three levels of skepticism, which in turn, generate three levels at which our thoughts may be deceived by error. Descartes states quite explicitly in the synopsis, that we can doubt all things which are material as long as we have no foundations for the sciences other than those which we have had up till now (synopsis:12). In premise one his beliefs are derived from the senses, such as he sees that he has a paper in his hand and concludes that it is a paper, and what is meant by through the senses, is that his beliefs may have been based on others sense experience. All Descartes requires for the second premise is the possibility that he may have been deceived, for if he cannot decide which is wrong, than he must not have any knowledge. This leads to the third premise where it seems at least reasonable to assume, that if one has been deceived previously, there is no absolute assurance that it is presently correct. Therefore, there is a chance of being deceived about everything. But many critics will argue that several of these false percepts can be corrected by means of alternative senses, such as he bent stick in water example. Although our sight may be tricked into thinking that the mirage exists, by using the sense of touch we can correct this falseness, and uncover what truly exists. Descartes does retreat, and assess the damage from his first level by saying, there are many other beliefs about which doubt is quite impossible, even though they are derived from the senses for example, that I am here, sitting by the fire, wearing a winter dressing gown.. America Vote Act ( Hava ) I was surprised to discover that voter identification began in 1950 when South Carolina became the first state to request some form of identification from voters at the polling precincts. Then Hawaii followed in 1970, Texas in 1971, Florida in 1977, and Alaska in 1980. Some of them asked for an ID with a photo, while others asked for any type of document with or without a photo; all provided other means for people to vote if they couldn t present identification. An unsuccessful journey not harsh any more than a courageous ending is essentially joyful. The Aeneid, in like manner, shows in disaster. As of 2013, the disposable income of an indigenous person in Australia is about 70% of that of a non indigenous person. This can be contributed to the fact that non indigenous people have much better access to education, especially at the university level, and also to racial discrimination. Their lower income means that they often live in very poor conditions according to an article published by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, their conditions can often be deemed fifth world . Many of Aboriginal people in Central Australia are living in humpies , which are huts often constructed from tree bark and branches, or shelters made from old car bodies. Alan Hudson, a former government business manager, says that there was little improvement to the living conditions from the 1970s to today. Another problem that many Aboriginal people face is overcrowding of houses. In the Aboriginal community on Palm Island, the average number of people to one house is seventeen, and about 27% of the population of Aboriginals live in overcrowded houses. The more remote the Aboriginal community is, the more likely they are to suffer from poor living conditions. In 2006, the UN declared that Australia had the worst Indigenous housing conditions in world. The conditions which these people live in leads them to higher ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
