Classification of Instructional Aids)
INTRODUCTION
Instructional aids are an integral component in
any classroom. The many benefits of teaching aids includes
helping learners improve reading comprehension skill,
illustrating or reinforcing a skill or concept, differentiating
instruction and relieving anxiety by presenting information
in a new and exciting way. The number of aids for
instruction has become so numerous that today a teacher of
any subject need not resort to any of the archaic methods of
teaching . Teaching aids also engage students other senses
since there are no limits in what aids can be utilized when
supplementing a lesson.
IMPORTANCE AND VALUES OF
INSTRUCTIONALAIDS
Instructional aids play an very important and
values in teaching – learning process. Teaching aids are
helping teachers to close the gap and hone the reading
comprehension skills of their students. Importance aids are
follows.
 Teaching aids help to make the learning environment
interesting and engaging.
 Teaching aids are becoming the norm in the classroom.
 Teaching aids prove to be a formidable supplement for
teachers when the reinforcement of a skill or concept is
necessary .
 Teaching aids motivate the students so that they learn better.
 Through teaching aids the teacher clarify the subject matter
more easily .
 Teaching aids helps to increase the vocabulary of the student
more effectively
 Teaching aids provide direct experience to the student.
 Teaching aids make the classroom live and active
 It provide complete example for conceptual thinking
 It helps the development of scientific attitude
 Encouraging activities
 It create the environment of interest of interest for the students.

The various media are collectively know as audio
visual aids are assist a teacher in providing learner suitable
learning experiences in the form of audio & visual perception.
Such perceptions will be very helpful for the learner to acquire
new information. The experiences gained from the perception
would help in making impressions vivid meaningful & long
standing. Instructional aids are classified into,
Projected aids
Non-projected aids
Activity aids.
CONCLUCTION
Instructional aids assist to reinforce and
supplement the instructors communication during the
presentation of the lesson. A good instructional aids should
promote certain desirable results. It should stimulate interest,
command attention ,be easily understood and promote a
positive reaction on the port of trainee. Instructional aids are
essential to effective instruction. Using aids such as graphs
chart, flashcard, videos provides learners with visual
stimulation & the opportunity to access the content form a
different vantage point.
