- the acceleration of a photoreaction in
the presence of a catalyst.
- Activation using UV radiation of
titanium dioxide
Why Titania?
- It can either be diffused in the irradiated
solution as slurry or attached on a
suitable support as a fixed or fluidized
bed.
Requirements for a good Titania supporting material
(a) transparent to UV;
(b) favor strong physical-chemical bond
with the TiO2 without affecting their
reactivity;
(c) offer a high surface area;
(d) have good adsorption capability for
the organic compounds to be
degraded;

(e) flexible favoring the ultimate liquidsolid phase separation;
(f) allow mass transfer processes;
(g) chemically inert.
