This document discusses physical fitness and its components. It defines physical fitness as a set of abilities that allow one to perform physical activities. Physical fitness has three major components: health-related components like cardiovascular endurance and muscular strength that relate to health; skill-related components like agility and coordination that relate to motor skills; and physiological components like metabolism and bone integrity that relate to biological systems. It also provides examples of exercises and activities to measure components like finding one's pulse and raising one's heart rate.

2. Physical Education
It is an integral part of
General Education designed
to promote the desired level
of fitness through
participation in well selected
activities.
3. Physical Fitness
It is considered as a
measure of the body’s
ability to function
efficiently and effectively
in work and leisure
activities.
4. Physical fitness
It is “a set of abilities
that one
possesses in order to
perform physical
activities.
5. Physical activity
It is any bodily movement
produced by the contraction of
skeletal muscles that results in
a substantial increase in energy
expenditure” (Centers for
Disease Control and Prevention
or CDC, 1985
6. You can become physically fit
(e.g., improve or maintain it)
through exercise, which is “a
type of physical activity consisting
of planned, structured and
repetitive bodily movement”
(CDC, 1985).
7. This means that physical
fitness is a measurable set
of characteristics that is
determined by my exercise
habits (American College of
Sports Medicine or ACSM,
2010).
8. Healthy Habits
1. Intake of proper nutrition

3. Proper exercise
4. Personal hygiene
5. Medical and dental check-up
6. Recreational activities
9. Physical fitness is made up
of three major
components:
• Health-related Components
• Skill-related components
• Physiological fitness
10. Health-related components or
Health-related physical fitness
(HRPF) consists of those
specific components that have
a relationship with good health,
or a lower risk of illness,
particularly hypokinetic diseases
and conditions.
12. 2. Cardio-vascular endurance
It is the ability of the lungs,
heart, blood vessels to deliver
adequate amount of oxygen to
the cells to meet to the demands
of sustained physical activity.
Examples: long distance running
and swimming.
13. 3. Flexibility
It is the ability of the joints to
move through its full range of
motion.
Examples: stretches or splits
14. 4. Muscular endurance
It is the ability of the muscle
group to maintain a continuous
contraction or repetition over a
period of time.
Examples: sit-ups or push ups
15. 5. Muscular strength
It is the ability of the muscle
to exert or to produce effort.
Examples: weightlifting, or
moving heavy objects
17. Skill-related physical fitness
(SRPF)
It consists of components that
have a relationship with
learning motor skills quickly and
the ability to achieve a high
level of performance in sports.
19. 1. Agility
It is the ability to change
body position and direction
quickly and efficiently.
20. 2. Balance
It is the ability to maintain
stability while in a static position
or when moving.

It is the ability twith body
parts o use the senses, such as
sight of hearing, together with
body parts in performing tasks
smoothly and accurately.
22. 4. Power
It is the ability to produce a
maximum force in the shortest
time.
23. 5. Reaction time
It is the ability to react
and/or make decisions quickly in
response to simple stimuli.
24. 6. Speed
It is the ability to perform a
movement within a short period
of time.
25. Physiological fitness
It relates to biological
systems that are influenced
by one‟s level of habitual
physical activity (Bouchard et
al., 1990).
26. 1. metabolic fitness (MetF)
It is to do with your
metabolism. Metabolism is the
amount of calories our body’s
burn to just stay alive and
keep comfortably warm.
27. 2. morphological fitness (MorF)
A non-performance component
of physical fitness related to body
composition factors such as body
circumferences, body fat content
and regional body fat
distribution.
28. 3. bone integrity (BI)
A non-performance
component of fitness related
to bone mineral density. Bone
integrity is related to habitual
physical activity.
