- #12 Technology will play a critical role in organizations achieving objectives. In fact, in IBM’s latest CEO study, technology has become the number 1 external factor impacting organizations. Cloud speeds service delivery, and so we now see 60% of CIOs view cloud as critical to their plans. We see organizations leveraging mobile to improve reach of services to clients – with 700m smart phones and tables shipping in 2012 – a 34% increase in a year. We see over 20B machine centric devices now deployed enabling more responsive business operations and business models. And all of these technologies are generating tremendous data with 2.7 zetabytes of digital content in 2012 – an increase of 50% in one year.

- #16 As we stated early, nearly 60 % of CIO’s view cloud computing as critical. The question is how to you move from virtualization to cloud? IBM can help you optimize with cloud with IBM SmartCloud Foundation: integrated technologies to build and rapidly scale private cloud environments with unparalleled time-to-market, integration and management On October 11 th , 2011 IBM announced IBM SmartCloud Foundation, a comprehensive set of cloud enabling technologies that provide the foundation for integrated cloud service delivery and management. across private and hybrid cloud models. Incidentally, this same technology also serves as the enabling technology for IBM public cloud services. The Foundation includes a broad array of capabilities from service automation and assurance to secure integration of hybrid, public, and private clouds. In fact, Citigroup is using IBM SmartCloud foundation capabilities to enable IaaS and PaaS today in their own private cloud. Before implementing the technology, delivering infrastructure to their 20,000 users took 45 days. They are now able to take requests directly from users, and deploy infrastructure and software in 20 minutes, a massive improvement service delivery time. Before SmartCloud foundation, they required 1 administrator for every 10 severs. Now they can manage 100 severs with just 1 administrator.
- #17 Nearly ½ of all devices accessing applications will be mobile – be that mobile phones, tablets or remote IT endpoints. How will you provide applications on mobile platforms while ensuring all those mobile devices and endpoints are secure and consistently managed along side your traditional IT infrastructure? IBM offers a comprehensive platform to help organizations design, deliver and manage applications and services and manage the lifecycle and security of mobile devices and endpoints. IBM is the only hardware & software-independent vendor that can provide comprehensive coverage of mobile devices for the enterprise. -- from strategic planning to asset mgt to outsourcing, to development of applications to management and security of the devices themselves. Mobile Device Management will become the bridge point between lifecycle mgt and security. Smarter Planet: mobile devices will soon make up a large component of the” instruments” of the “ever more instrumented” world. IBM Endpoint management manages and secures all endpoints – fixed or mobile, physical or virtual – with a comprehensive single server agent solution from IBM. For example clients are grappling with these concerns: How do I make sure my network infrastructure can handle the additional data load from the rapid growth in enterprise mobile device usage? How do I ensure the security of mobile devices as they access more and more sensitive systems? How do I cost-effectively manage the sheer volume of these tiny devices with the complexity of multiple OS platforms, and a mixture of both enterprise and employee-owned devices? As some users begin to replace their laptops with mobile devices entirely, how do I ensure their productivity? To address these issues, we provide: Visual topology across network environment to quickly map interdependencies, view how assets are deployed on the network, and detect service-affecting events Configuration policy enforcement – PIN locks, VPN, e-mail, WiFi, etc. settings to prevent unauthorized access Encryption management Audit trails and change management to identify who last updated the device, and what specific changes were made Integration with single endpoint management console for all endpoint types (server, desktop, laptop, mobile) to minimize infrastructure, FTEs, management tool learning curve Enterprise app store and self-service portal enables end users to support themselves and acquire known authorized apps
- #18 The worlds physical infrastructures continue to transform from traditional dumb assets, to smarter physical infrastructures with embedded intelligence. Today, there are over 20 billion machine-centric intelligent devices deployed in the world, not including IT-centric devices. IBM offers a complete set of capabilities to needed to instrument and interconnect today’s smarter infrastructures and manage end to-end service delivery, including integrated asset & facilities management, service desk, event collection and correlation, security and dashboards. With these capabilities organizations can: Predicatively manage the asset lifecycle Monitor the health of smart infrastructures Understand the impact of problems on service Optimize workflow across business & IT operations Track key performance indicators Lets take a look at one example. General Motors had a mix of disparate tools for managing assets across the globe. They lacked an integrated and consistent visibility across those assets increasing their costs. With IBM asset & facilities management solutions, they were able to remove redundant and disparate tools and standardize on a single platform. Our provisioning offering provides a highly resilient, scalable cloud manager across a range of hypervisors. It provides a consolidated view of the image resources deployed across the enterprise using a federated image library. In addition, we have included tooling to manage creation and patching of simple and composite images. SmartCloud provisioning provides advanced analytics that allow insight into workloads running in the environment and maximizes utilization of virtualized resources, including the ability to easily remediate maintenance issues. Smartcloud monitoring provides insight into the performance of the virtualized servers, storage and networks from the service level to the virtual image. We've added analytics to enable proactive license utilization analysis as well as capacity planning to ensure the infrastructure can support planned workloads. These offerings work together to allow you to easily boot up your cloud environment and scale as needed. We believe that the beginning of the cloud lifecycle starts in the development phase, extending into QA and production. With this offering, we are combining key capabilities of collaborative development delivered with Rational Team Concert with the rapid deployment capability of Smartcloud provisioning to truly enable continuous delivery, supporting business agility. This degree of automation allows us to support patterns based workloads while capturing the deployment topologies associated with those workloads in a systematic fashion, enabling 'infrastructure as code' to become a reality. Combined with our recent GreenHat acquisition, we are able to capture and simulate the characteristics of production environments as part of the continuous QA process. And for those of you who aren't aware, Tririga had its home location here in Vegas, where these large hotel complexes function with the capacity of small cities. Tririga brought strong capabilities around facilities management, real estate portfolio management and energy conservation. Through the integration of this capability with our existing Maximo capability, we have a much more complete solution to tackle this challenging issue. Just this week we announced that the US Air Force has selected IBM smarter buildings software to maximize energy efficiency and automate physical infrastructure from buildings to vehicles to runways.
