2. World War I When The Treaty Of Versailles
After the conclusion of World War I when the Treaty of Versailles was signed, the seeds were planted
that led to the beginning of World War II. The immediate cause for the beginning of the second war
was popularly considered to be the German army s invasion of Poland. As the leader of the Nazi party,
one of Hitler s key goals was to be the domination of Europe, which he aimed to take by force. France
and Britain had warned Germany in 1939 that invading Poland would lead to a declaration of war, so
when Hitler invaded Poland in September 1939, war broke out in Europe. This resulted in a violent
war that lasted for several years and resulted in the loss of several soldier as well as civilian lives. The

The intention when the plan was introduced was that all countries would join the League and thus all
international disputes would be settled by negotiation as opposed to being settled by war (Breuer,
286). If this plan were to fail then the other nations would have to stop trading with the country
breaking the agreement and if that failed, the other countries would be forced to then use their armies
to fight. The diplomatic philosophy behind the League of Nations represented a shift in thought from
the preceding century, where an agreement such as this one would be unlikely to be agreed upon. The
older philosophy, coming from the Congress of Vienna, had led to the continent of Europe being a
shifting map of alliances among several nation states, creating a balance of power that was maintained
by aligned armies and secret treaties. Under this newly introduced philosophy, the League was to be a
government of governments, with the established role of settling disputes between individual nations.
Although the idea for the founding of the League came from U.S. President Wilson, the United States
never joined (Breuer, 288). This lessened the power and credibility of the League, although the
addition of an industrial and military world power would have added more, later necessary, force
behind the League s demands and requests. Also, because the League lacked an armed force of it

Throughout the past years, research of this unexpected instability has created a number of surprising
discoveries. As a matter of fact, it has led to the findings of a great enzyme named telomerase that acts

the ends of the chromosomes, are eukaryotic ribonucleoprotein complex, which contains both an
essential RNA and a protein reverse transcriptase subunit. They are meant to protect the chromosomal

4. Incarceration Crime Rate
Since the 1990s and the crime drop, there has been many questions to the reason why. Steven Levitt
and Stephen Dubner thoroughly looked through the different theories but came to a conclusion that the
main reason crime had fallen is abortion (117 145). One of the reasons they discuss is whether or not
the increase of incarceration affects the fluctuations in crime rates. Levitt and Dubner suggest that the
crime system became relaxed due avoid racism; however, the crime rates then began to rise (122).
Between 1980 and 2000, there was a fifteenfold increase in the number of people sent to prison on

1 30). Ouimet says [Spelman] estimates the relationship between incarceration and crime and comes
up with an elasticity measure of 0.4, which means that an increase in incarceration of one percent will
be followed by a drop in crime of 0.4% (par. 12). In other words, imprisonment only accounted for
one fourth of the crime drop in the 1990s (Ouimet par. 12). Not all scholars however, believe that
incarceration was responsible for the drop because of its inconsistency between states (Ouimet par.

dependent and independent variables were flipped (Ouimet par. 13). Ouimet then goes into policing
strategies, (another commonly known factor in affecting crime rates) and how those statistics match
up with those of Canada. Though Ouimet uses evidence to prove that incarceration affects crime, he
then disproves it by saying that it is to variant and is not consistent among states (pars. 12 13). This

5. Why Cheerleading Should Be Considered A Sport
A cheerleader, by definition, is a person who is a member or of a group who shout out special songs or
chants to encourage the team and entertain the crowd during a game. Yet, you see cheerleaders doing
more than just standing around and being pretty in movies, television shows, and even their own
games. They throw people in the air and catch them, they do flips, jumps. They have their own
competitions. But why is it still not considered a sport to many?
A sport is defined as an activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team
competes against another or others for entertainment. There are many different national and

sport, but they are all similar: if it involves physical activity and competitions. Cheerleading does, in

whether a common European leadership approach will emerge from the economic union or whether
leadership practices will remain culturally bound to each nation. One group of observers expects that
as Europe s nations converge economically, a hybrid form of leadership will replace individual
cultural practices. An opposed group asserts that cultural values are so ingrained that any effort to
consolidate management practices will meet strong resistance. They firmly believe that leadership
behavior will remain differentiated in each nation. From a U.S. perspective, it is easy to speak of

only do the high strung emotions of either party make it hard, but so does the fact that you have to
decide with whom your children will reside, and how often the other will be able to see them. You
may already know that the judge is the ultimate deciding factor in these cases, but here are a few of
the criteria that he or she will consider while making that decision:
Factor #1: Where You Are Living During the Court Process.

Another big factor that the judge will consider is the relationship that each child had with each parent.
Unless absolutely necessary, the judge will not assign custody of the children to a parent with whom
they never got along, and who obviously does not deeply love them. Additionally, if one parent has
shown any inclination toward physical, mental, emotional, or sexual abuse of any of the children, then
their chances of being assigned custody will dramatically decrease.
Factor #3: What Your Children Want to Do?
While closely tied to the above factor, this one stands apart in that the judge not only considers the
situation, but he or she also considers the wishes and choices of the children. This, of course, depends
on whether the child is both old and mature enough to make an educated decision on the matter.
Factor #4: Who Has the Most Reliable Position?
Another factor to consider is who will be able to best provide for the children. If either parent has a
poorer income, a less desirable living condition, or any bad habits or addictions that may prevent them
from adequately providing for the children, then the judge will not likely consider him or her for

imaginable. Brian Reed is the author of the Podcast series S Town that was released earlier this year.
In his series about the mysterious life of John B. McLemore, Reed utilizes rhetorics as a way to
engage and connect with his audience. Because S Town is a podcast, the audience has to experience
the story through listening to the narrator. The episode begins by using first person point of view.

He continuously shifts between first and third person point of view throughout the entire episode. To
me, this is basically a soliloquy. A soliloquy in a theatre play is a moment when a character directly
shares their thoughts and feelings with the audience in the middle of a scene. Brian Reed uses this
device a lot when he speaks in first person or is in a conversation and wants to clarify something. The
first time we see him use this technique is when John is giving him the coordinates of his maze. The
rest of the times Reed uses soliloquies is to share his thoughts towards other characters sayings or

25. Female Characters In Frankenstein Research Paper
Looking closely at the female characters in Frankenstein, you can see that the female characters are
passive, disposable, and serve a function for male characters. Why are women in Mary Shelly s
Frankenstein are portrayed as the submissive sex? Female characters such as Elizabeth, Justine,
Margret, Safie, and Agatha are all used for nothing more but a source of action for the male characters
in the novel. Things usually happen to the female characters, for only the purpose of teaching a male
character a lesson and being an emotional source. Looking at Justine s character she is a very passive
and peaceful character. After being switched back and forth between her family and Elizabeth s she
finally ends up with Frankenstein s. But, here she if framed for the murder of William Frankenstein,

27. The Terri Schiavo Case Study
What legal impact did this case have on legislation? The Terri Shiavo case had a significant impact on
legislation. After numerous appeals in the court regarding both removing as well as reinstating ANH
(Artificial Nutrition and Hydration), the in 2003, the Florida House and Senate passed Terri s Law
which for the first time in history granted permission to governor to direct a specific medical act be
carried out on the patient. In 2004, the Florida Supreme court declared Terri s Law as retroactive
legislation citing separation of powers and citizens right to privacy as justification. What ethical issues
were involved? The main ethical issue that was involved in the Terri Shivao case was whether
administering Artificial Nutrition and Hydration was morally obligatory or optional. The other ethical
issues that were involved were that of autonomy, beneficence and non maleficence. Was her autonomy
permitted? Why or why not? The principle of autonomy focuses primarily on the concept of
independence and values the ability of the individual to make rational and logical choices. For those
individuals who are incapable of making sound decisions on their own, the standard of substituted
judgement should be followed which describes the decision that the patient would make for
themselves if they were mentally capable of doing so. Terri Shiavo would not have wanted herself to

31. Themes Of Longing, Selections From The Ink Dark Moon Sting...
Interwoven with themes of longing, impermanence and loneliness, selections from The Ink Dark
Moon sting with forbidden love and savor of bitterness, while exploring the intricately beautiful
characteristics of human emotion. Although the selected poems are brief and concise conforming to
the characteristics of brevity and succinct language in traditional ancient Japanese poetry the carefully
selected words and painstakingly constructed phrases elicit a marked emotional response in the reader.
Utilizing literary devices such as vivid descriptive imagery, metaphor and symbolism, the authors
explore piercingly poignant emotional experiences through the lens of nature and the exploration of
Buddhist ideologies.
Beginning with a stark comparison of mankind and nature, the first selection by Ono No Komachi
exemplifies the use of naturalistic themes and impermanence in ancient Japanese poetry. Komachi
contrasts hunting lanterns, (p. 41, line 1) with the mountain on which the hunting has taken place,
bringing to mind imagery of an abandoned mountain once brimming with hunters. The author utilizes
this imagery as a means through which to demonstrate the speaker s own loneliness and feelings of
abandonment after the initial excitement laden stages of love have subsided. Additionally, Komachi s
utilization of nature as a recurring motif throughout the poem exemplifies the Buddhist idea of object
impermanence. However, although impermanence related to the idea of transience and

32. How To Use Anabolic Steroids
The use of steroids does not only risk the ineligibility of an athlete, but it also can negatively affect
their health mentally and physically. Anabolic steroid use increases strains and tears of the tendons
and ligaments connected to the muscle. These steroids come with a very high price tag. Steroids affect
the joints and create a breakdown in the joint area because the muscle that s being built puts
tremendous amount of stress on the joints. So, although the muscles may grow and the athlete may
have unbelievable power and strength gains, in the long run, it is just going to put a tremendous
amount of stress on the joints (Kuhn). Many athletes do not realize how much strain they actually put
on their muscles, and they tend to take larger amounts of these substances. ... Show more content on

Anabolic steroids are also known to increase the number of red blood cells, increase the factors in the
blood that produce blood clots, and can increase blood pressure by causing fluid detainment (Kuhn).
The use of steroids also has a negative effect on the athlete mentally. Anabolic steroids have been
known to cause an increased sense of wellbeing, and at toxically high doses hypomania, which is an
elevation of mood and a need to always be active, which is a mental disease. Even with the idea that
the use of these drugs can cause mental diseases, it is not known to be addictive. Since it can cause
hypomania, it is likely that once an athlete has stopped taking these steroids, they become very
depressed. Taylor Hooton was a normal high school student who got involved with anabolic

Why do good people do bad things? It s a question repeatedly asked throughout the decades and with
recent studies,it seems people in groups are more deadly than others. In this essay,I will be giving my

Starting as early as March 15,44 B.C.,Gaius Julius Caesar was murdered by a group of rebellious
senators. He started out as a Roman politician and general who played a huge role in the demise of the
Roman republic and the rise of the Roman empire. After several political conflicts occurred Cassius

34. Analysis Of Dear White People
The television series Dear White People by Justin Simien portrays stereotypical problems of racial
identity in today s society, however, the creator imbeds the series with hidden messages that are not
particularly intended. The show exemplifies how people of color try to deal with living in a society
where they are not particularly welcome in a place of elite higher education. It follows a group of
colored students as they navigate through life in college attending a primarily white Ivy League
university. In the series, the creator implements the ideas of two sided racism, political correctness,
and misplaced power.
Although this show suggests it is about white people and their faults, Simien portrays two sided
racism in the series although it is not addressed head on. The show s protagonist, Sam White who is
also a woman, is characterized as the angry black chic on campus because she believes all white
people have white privilege. She speaks her mind through her radio show Dear White People where
she bashes white people and their beliefs. Throughout the series, Sam speaks against white people as
oppressors, however, most people don t recognize that this is also a form of racism. For example, in
season one episode one, Sam is caught in a scandalous relationship with a white man. Those who look
up to her as a leader to the black community are disgusted with her. As the episode progresses Sam
tried to integrate her white boyfriend, Gabe, into her group but he is not welcomed. This implies that
one should not mix with the other side or everything you stand for is void. Although the show doesn t
blatantly state it Sam s group of colored friends are oppressing white people. Oppressing those who
oppress others does not make one right. The colored characters in this series blame all white people
for their problems and portray white people as always in the wrong. The show is focused on how
white people oppress others and further racism, however, what one doesn t recognize is that when the
group being oppressed upon retaliates with the exclusion of their oppressors it doesn t make them any
better. This message is not obvious but still heavily embedded throughout the series.

35. How Representativeness, Familiarity, And Social...
Introduction
The purpose of this written assignment is to examine and study how representativeness, familiarity,
and social interactions are convoluted in the pronouncements of an investor, and how these
comportments can lead to stock market bubbles. There will be three source materials provided to assist
with this information, including excerpt from our weekly materials and the textbook, which includes
chapters eight and nine.
Representativeness
The first source of information is from the stockmarketinvesting.com website, which discusses the
assumptions that are related to representativeness in a few examples. The first example is with people,
how we assume a person is good or bad based on a few qualities, and based on a quick ... Show more

This information combines the heuristics, which are simple rules used to make judgements, and
representativeness, which is the extent to which an event is representative of its parent population.
This amounts to the reliance on representativeness heuristic, which can be mistakenly used to
erroneously magistrate something to seem more representative than it should be (Representativeness
heuristic Breaking Down Finance, n.d., para. 1 7).
The main point I received from the source material in this particular case is that investors may tend to
follow trends in the stock market. However, due to the representativeness heuristic instances,
forecasting a future trend is much more difficult than following a current one. The success of
following the current trend is also something to keep in mind because it takes diligence to be able to
see what is actually a trend or a slight change in the sequence of events in the stock performance.
Based on this information, I believe it is best for an investor to be able to take a step back upon
evaluating a stock market trend or stock performance, and really look at what is changing/not
changing, as far as the stock prices are concerned. This will be helpful in being able to withstand a
loss or in contrary reaping the benefits of a stock purchase gain. The relation between the two sources
so far have been that there can be random occurrences in the stock
