Traditions And Encounters Chapter 1 Essay
1) The three great Native American civilizations that existed in the Americas prior to European contact
were the Aztecs, Incas and Mayas. These three civilizations organized societies, carried on trade and
produced calendars.
2) The improvements in technology in the late 1400s that allowed European exploration of the
Western Hemisphere were the usage of gunpowder to battle against people, sailing compasses, and
there was the improvements of the ships/ the constant updating of the maps.
3) The religious motivation for European exploration and colonization s of the Americas was the
rivalry of European countries to impose their own form of Christianity to non Christians in the
Americas, Asia and Africa. The economic motivation for European exploration ... Show more content

them to invade Spain s ship of cargos and sink the ship.

growing grass for sheep to eat so they can produce woolen cloth. This affects many farmers because
there was not much use of them on the farm and most of them couldn t find a job, so they did things to

The Benefits Of Capital Gains And The Values Of Money
Capital gains are effectively just money earned for having money in the first place and investing it
wisely. Capital gains are realized once an investor sells their stocks in a publicly traded company, and
are the way in which thousands of wealthy Americans become even richer. The term capital gains also
applies to money received from index funds, which are a type of mutual fund with a portfolio
constructed to match or track the components of a market index (CITE). This means that by depositing
money into an index fund, that money is invested in a wide variety high performing companies. Then,
when that money is withdrawn, the owner receives capital gains, just like an individual investor
would. Many upper middle class and wealthy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is a glaring flaw and one that blatantly allows the wealthy to become wealthier, with no checks
on that wealth. Unfortunately, this policy does not just aid the wealthy, but it hurts the poor and middle
class that use public goods that are funded by taxes. Demonstrating this, the Congressional Budget
Office (CBO), predicts that Normalizing the capital gains tax rate so that it s the same as the income
tax rate is an easy way to bring a lot of money into the public fisc some $161 billion per year (CITE).
For comparison, the poorest 50% of Americans paid a total of $34 billion in taxes in 2013. Taxing
capital gains as if it were normal income would remove the tool that the rich and powerful use to
become even more rich and powerful, as well as inject billions of into public projects. Therefore, it
would go far in solving the issue of wealth inequality that we face today. Fortunately, this issue is very
simple to solve. All that is required is for the federal government to treat capital gains as normal
income. Subsequently, public projects and systems that are currently suffering with little money,
would receive an incredible boost. However, there is still opposition to these ideas among wealthy
Americans, Congressmen, and voters. Several arguments are used in opposition to some of the
policies that have been suggested in this paper, and in the next few paragraphs, I will refute the
common opponents. The first of these opposing viewpoints

Leo
The constellation that I have picked is Leo ( The Lion ). I have chosen this particular one because it is
my birth month s constellation. Leo is the 12th largest constellation in size, taking up 947 square
degrees. It s located in the 2nd quadrant of the northern hemisphere, and can be seen at latitudes
between +95 degrees and 60 degrees. The brightest star of Leo is Regulus.
Leo is one of the oldest constellations, the Babylonians being the first to see it. They knew Regulus to
be the star that stands at the lion s breast, or The King Star. The Greeks associated Leo with the
Nemean Lion, the beast killed by Heracles during the first of his twelve labors. Eratosthenes and
Hyginus both wrote that it was made into a constellation because ... Show more content on

Several years later, man came into his land and killed his family, and attempted to take him as well.
The lion, however, was clever. He hid in the mountains and lived there for many years, separated from
the humans. One day, a young girl came wondering into the mountains looking for food. The lion,
having been starved for the past few days, was looking for a chance to attack. When the lion jumped
out, the girl was not afraid. Instead, she walked up to the lion, and held a hand out. The lion was
confused, then, out of curiosity, let the girl pet him. The girl handed the lion some of the meat she had
on her, and the lion realized she wasn t a threat. He bowed down to her and let her on his back. For the
next week, the little girl would come into the mountains, and play with the lion. One day, she
explained to him what the little lights in the sky were, and instantly the lion became obsessed with the
stars. The girl left for her village, and her father demanded that she tell him where she had been. When
she explained to him that she was with the lion, he grabbed a gun and went into the mountain. He
came upon the lion s cave and noticed the lion was right outside. He saw the lion gazing up at the sky,
and when the lion s back was turned, he shot him. The father came home and when the girl asked what
happened, he said he killed him. The little girl ran to the mountain, and found the lion s

Integral To Vygotsky s Zone Of Proximal Development
Integral to Vygotsky s theory is what he described as the zone of proximal development (ZPD).
Vygotsky defined the ZPD as the distance between the actual developmental level as determined by
independent problem solving and the level of potential development as determined through problem
solving under adult guidance or in collaboration with more capable peers (Ankrum, Genest, and
Belcastro, 2013) We use this in our understanding of how the power of verbal scaffolding can really
help children. In this study, we see how a teacher can really help her kindergarten students using

The Construction Of Roman Seagoing Warships
Whether you are transporting people, laying siege to a countryside, or simply shipping goods down
the coast, ships have always been the way to do it and the Romans have perfected this method.
Romans might not have been the first to build ships but they were the ones who were able to master
the art of naval warfare and shipping goods and people to and from Alexandria. To this day we still
base many of our shipping systems off of them and their influence on modern day ship design is
prevalent in documents that show the materials used for ships that we still use today. The technology
and history of Roman ships and the practice of shipbuilding has evolved over the span of time. Many

Roman ships are rather simple in design. Many ships simply had a single main mast which carried a
rectangular sail. However some ships also had small sails at the bow and stern. Roman ships were
steered by large oars as opposed to rudders. Lighthouses were placed by Romans to aid shipping to
avoid crashes into dangerous cliff sides and rocks.Romans built large merchant ships called cortia.
These large ships could carry up to 1,000 tons of cargo easily.Majority of Roman merchant ships
transported a wide range of commodities, including wine, garum, fruit, nuts, oil, and fish, in two
handled clay storage jars called amphoras. Shipwrights were called either a faber navalis or an
architectus navalis. These shipwrights organized themselves into collegia, or guilds, and excavations.
Ancient ships were made of wood and water proofed using pitch and paint. Commanders began to
favor smaller more maneuverable ships called liburna. Liburna played a huge role in helping Octavian
defeat Marc Antony. Ships with multiple levels of rowers were manoeuvrable enough to attack enemy
vessels by ramming into the sides of them. The trireme was a ship that literally translated into three
banks of oars. The quinqueremes were the largest ships. They had three banks of rowers with two each
for the upper two oars and one rower on the lower oar. There

Tomato Plant
TOMATO PLANT 1)
Seed: Tomato seeds are small, flat and disk shaped and about 1/8 inch wide. They contain two energy
storage organs called cotyledons and an embryo encased in a hard outer shell called the seed coat. The
seed is the dormant or resting stage of the plant life cycle. When young tomato plants are damaged,
they tend to go into a dormant, survival stage in which plant growth is delayed for a while. Frost
damage is something to look out for when planting tomatoes early on in the season. Frost damage is
marked by tender, dark green spots on the leaves. Although they won t kill the plant, frostbites will
make them dormant for a while, delaying plant growth. During the germination process, the seed
absorbs moisture and nutrients ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They have their own definite shape and arrangement in plants according to their requirements. Leaves
trap energy from sunlight and convert it into pure compounds. For this the leaves are arranged on the
stem in a way that they are exposed mostly in the sunlight. i) Leaves help in the process of plant
cellular respiration. Plant cellular respiration carried out in the daylight is called photorespiration, or
light respiration. The plant uses a portion of the oxygen created by photosynthesis. Since the process
of photosynthesis produces more oxygen than the plant can use, the excess is released into the air
through the stomata, tiny air holes in the leaves. The plant takes its sugars directly from what is being
produced by photosynthesis. 5) Food Making: j) Photosynthesis: the process of producing and
releasing oxygen in the air. Photosynthesis is performed by the plants to produce their own food. The
process of Photosynthesis requires direct sunlight, carbon dioxide and water (H2O). In the process of
Photosynthesis, the plants decompose the molecules of hydrogen and carbon dioxide into hydrogen,
carbon and oxygen to produce glucose which forms the source of their energy, growth and food. This
involves the conversion of stored energy of the sunlight, water and carbon dioxide into glucose which
is an organic compound and release oxygen in the process. k) Importance of photosynthesis: Plants are
the only living things that produce their own food.

Piaget s 4 Stages
The first of the four stages in Piagets theory is the sensorimotor stage, Piaget believed an infant is born
with no way of making sense of the world and that they take information in by using their senses and
through motor activity. In this stage children are only able to focus on what is directly in front of them
and can only use their biologically built in responses such as sucking (textbook 208 209). Piaget uses
three sub stages that children go through in order to develop their cognitive understanding. At around
6 months old children develop goal directed behaviour and this is where they learn that they can
influence other things or people to do things such as shaking a rattle to produce a noise. Once an
infant reaches around 8 months they

Limitations Of Racist Speech
Limits on Racist Speech in Public Contexts
When the first amendment is brought up, one of the first things that comes to mind is free speech.
Even though we don t give it much thought, our free speech does have limits. The more obvious limits
such as knowing that you can t threaten people or shout Fire! in a crowded space make sense because
it s easy to see how they cause direct harm. These general limits are important in order to ensure a safe
and peaceful society, but when it comes to voicing prejudice views, it becomes difficult to determine
what should and should not be restricted by the first amendment. After all, when negative and hurtful
opinions are directed at a specific group of people, it becomes hard to see how protecting them could
be a good thing. The important thing to remember is that when sharing these views becomes harmful
and leads to harassment, it is no longer protected under the first amendment. However, everyone sees
things differently, so drawing the line between what is just offensive and harassment needs to be
determined and treated on a case by case basis. This will not only allow us to come to a solution for
these individual problems, but it leaves room for discussion which will help to combat the root cause
of prejudice.
While trying to think of ways to regulate racist speech, we might think that an easy solution would be
to place a ban on racist speech altogether, but this quickly becomes problematic. Banning specific
opinions and beliefs would no longer make our speech free, and even when people are permitted to
share wrong or offensive opinions, protecting free speech still has more potential benefit than harm.
This gives us the right to speak out against our government when it is doing something we disagree
with, but it also allows people to share their racist views. If we want to continue to reap the benefits,
we also have to accept that racist speech is a part of free speech, thus protected under the first
amendment. This is not the same thing as saying that racist speech should be unregulated; there are
regulations for when hate speech becomes harmful, but the government shouldn t and isn t responsible
for regulating it. The issue of regulating racist speech is a local

Land Title System In Canada
The potential industrial/commercial property being examined as a possible business location is located
in St Pierre Jolys, Manitoba (near Winnipeg, Manitoba). It is important to note in which province in
Canada the property is located because some provinces use a different system for land ownership and
transfer than others. For example, in the Atlantic provinces of Canada and parts of Ontario, the
registry system is used, and in most of Ontario, the western provinces, and the territories, the land
titles system is used. In Manitoba, the land titles system is now used in the entire jurisdiction
(reference). Therefore, the location of the property is important in terms of the steps to be taken in real
estate sales in Canada because based on whether the registry or land titles system is used, the steps,
precautions, etc. That need to be taken vary. As an example, with the registry system, a transfer of
ownership must be registered, whereas with the land titles system, the transfer must be filed.
Additionally, the registry system does not provide the same protection from interests that the land
titles system does, and as such, requires more risk management steps to be taken.
There are a magnitude of distinctive concerns that a purchaser would have regarding the property in
question. First of all, since the purchaser would want to change what the property is being used for,
the one would need to know that they can make the necessary changes to the operation of the land and
that

Religion In Medieval Japan
Introduction:
Religion in medieval Japan is what i will be talking about and the subjects I will be covering are
worship customs, beliefs and influences.
Beliefs
Shintoism:
Shinto s followers believe that spiritual powers exist in the natural world. They believe that spirits
called kami live in animals, plants, stones, mountains, rivers, people and also the dead. so basically
kami the spirits can live in anything in the natural world.
Christianity:
Christians believe in one god a god that lives in the heavens with all the good people. Christians
believe that man and women were made to have a relationship with god, but bad choices that humans
make, called sin separates all men and woman from god. and Christians also believe and listen to god
when u die u will go to heaven with him were u will feel no pain forever. Zen Buddhism:

Stress in the Emergency Department
Stress, Burnout, and Compassion Fatigue in the Emergency Department Background
Nursing is a field that many enter with the intention of helping and providing care to those with
mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual needs (Lombardo Eyre, 2011). Many consider nursing as
their calling; yet have not prepared themselves for the emotional and physical implications that come
from having interpersonal relationships with families and patients. As nurses care for the ill,
traumatized, and vulnerable patients in their charge, they inadvertently expose themselves to the pain,
suffering, and trauma that their patients are experiencing on a regular basis.
When the continued stress of this field is not dealt with, one can become a victim of the overwhelming
need that surrounds them, which can result in burnout or compassion fatigue. This not only effects
ones physical and emotional health, but also results in decreased productivity and job satisfaction, as
well as increasing job turnover rate (Lombardo Eyre, 2011; Boyle, 2011). This concept is
predominantly true of those working in the Emergency Department, and is actually where the context
of compassion fatigue was first noted approximately two decades ago, but is also seen across the
spectrum of health care providers in all areas (Boyle, 2011).
This topic will be discussed further in the words following, as well as an exploration of ways to
overcome compassion fatigue in the workplace.

Road Cormac Mccarthy The Road Analysis
The book The Road Cormac McCarthy creates a darkened mood when he puts this son and father into
a destroyed world. McCarthy created this concept of a world to intensify the meaning of the piece all
together. This darkness in the world creates to fear and the isolation for characters to realize that this is
how life is from now on. The son in this novel comes to the realization of the world due to certain
events within the novel that manipulation the view the son has on the world. An important flaw the
son has is that he does not remember the world as a peaceful place the son only remembers the world
destroyed. This type of naivetes gives the boy a minimal outlook on the past and see the difference of
the present. The father knows the difference which gives the father the realization before The Road
begins. The son in portions of The Road is starving, this desolate place called the world does not give
any chance of hope or second ones. The importance of this geographical state in the book makes the
father and son rely on one another because they know the very importance of staying alive, and the
only way they can do that is to fight for one another. The Road opens with a setting of desolation,
When he woke in the woods in the dark and the cold of the night he d reach out to touch the child
sleeping beside him , which creates a concern within the readers that are realizing the magnitude of
this horrible place. (McCarthy 3) The son in the first page of the book is mentioned

Health Care Services Service Services
At present, the services sector continues to experience increasingly large growth, which occupies a
privileged position in the country s economy. The health service is situated in this part because of the
essential services that it provides for individuals, community health and peoples. Furthermore, the
health situation in a community presents an understandable picture of the extent of economic, social
and cultural development, which is why countries aspire to make progress and to increase interest in
the services provided by health institutions.
Undoubtedly the health care service is facing an increasingly complex challenge regarding the
provision of high quality services. According to the complexity of health care services and systems,
exploring and explaining the availability, utilisation, costs, quality and accessibility; the delivery and
continuity of health care services is the key to informing government officials, health insurers, health
providers, and the public and decision makers on the subject of health related issues. Therefore,
deciding health care needs and providing correct reactions to them ought not to be just the
employment of specialists. Rather, it must include the cooperation of different specialists who work
with and in the health care system consistently (Ashworth et al., 1992).

When reviewing the facts of the case Resurfice v. Hanke, it may appear as though it was a clear win
for Resurfice inc, however I believe that the Supreme Court of Canada made some key errors in
making their decision, ultimately leading the judges to make the wrong decision. Firstly the Supreme
court did not place a strong enough emphasis on the design flaws of the Zamboni. As brought forth in
court, both the Gasoline tank and the water tank were placed directly beside one another, they were
also the same colour. Had the defects of the zamboni not made it so easy to mix the two tanks up, the
explosion likely would never had happened. In addition to this Resurfice corp did not do their due

Why Are The American Colonists Considered A Loyalists
During the American Revolution, the American colonists had to decide to support the War for
Independence or remain loyal to the British and King George III. Some Americans could not decide
which side to choose and remained neutral during the war. Most American colonists, however, did
choose sides. Those who supported independence from Britain were known as Patriots. Colonists who
opposed independence from Britain were known as Loyalists. Most Patriots supported independence
because they felt that recent British laws on the American Colonies violated their rights as British
citizens. This included taxing without consent, quartering soldiers in citizens homes, and denying
colonists the right to a trial. Most Loyalists who opposed independence tended to be wealthy
landowners, clergymen, or people with business or political ties to Britain. Some believed that the
British government had the right to ask the colonies to pay half the cost of their own defense. When
the colonies refused to do so through their elected assemblies, some Loyalists thought the British
Parliament had a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many Loyalists agreed that the American colonists had suffered at the hands of the British, but the
Loyalist hoped that a peaceful reconciliation with British government was possible. Loyalists were
brutally attacked and killed. Their property was destroyed or taken away. Many loyalists left the
American Colonies for their own safety. Some Loyalists moved to England or to nearby Canada.
Those living in the American colonies had various reasons for choosing their side. Most of the
Iroquois Native Americans, had a working relationship with British officials. They were angered by

It is easy to say that species are constantly changing,...
It is easy to say that species are constantly changing, and branching off into totally new species. But
how do we know where the species originate? Phylogenies help to show us how all kinds of species
are related to each other, and why. These relationships are put into what can be called a cladogram,
which links species to common ancestors, in turn showing where, when, how, and why these ancestors
diverged to form new species. Without phylogenies, it would be extremely difficult to put species in
specific categories or relate them to one another. Along with phylogenies can come conflict on which
species should be related to one another. This conflict causes many hypotheses and experiments,
which can lead to phylogenetic retrofitting, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The parareptile hypothesis is taken back at least two decades. It has recently been rediscovered and
contradicted by parsimony. Bayesian inferences support this parareptile conclusion, but parsimony
concludes the idea of turtles being a sister group to pareiasaurs, which is an anapsid group, including
Eunotosaurus. To test these hypothesis, a multitude of data is compiled to observe the stability behind
the inferences made. In this article, one main experiment was discussed through the collection and
analysis of two retrofitted matrices, phylogenetic analyses, and molecular scaffolds. In one matrice,
Eunotosaurus was added to a diapsid focused data set, while turtles were added to an anapsid focused
data set. The diapsid sets included a broad sampling of diapsids, which placed turtles as sisters to
sauropterygians. The anapsid set, on the other hand, included a broad sampling of anapsids, especially
parareptiles. Turtles were not included in the anapsid set. When the experiment moves on to the
phylogenetic analysis, Bayesian inferences and parsimony were brought into the mix. After these
analyses, the experiment finally includes molecular scaffolding. The effect of molecular scaffolding
was to see where extant linneages interact with molecular phylogenies. The, the Bayesian and
parsimony analyses were again repeated with these backbone constraints while everything else is
indifferent. The idea

Certified Financial Planner
Certified Financial planner Being a certified financial planner is not for everyone, this title is
considered a professional title in the financial planning field (Certified Financial Planner Salary).
Certified Financial Planners have many tasks. They document and revise financial plans for clients
and identify client s financial goals, concerns, and opportunities. Financial planners must be very
reliable, so clients will have the confidence to invest their money in that person (Otts, Chip). The
profession of a certified financial planner is a growing career field that is desperate for eager students
to care for the financial needs of individuals within our country, and after interviewing an actual
financial planner I realized how passionate about the career field. In order to become a certified
financial planner, there are certain education and examination requirements that prospective financial
planners must pass. The prospective financial planner must hold a bachelor s degree or higher from an
accredited college or university. They must also complete college level coursework through a program
that is registered with the CFP Board. This program must address the major financial planning areas
identified by CFP Board s most recent Job Analysis Study (CFP Board Education Requirement). After

I would say the main pros of my job are flexibility, the happiness of helping people, and the salary,
state Chip Otts. The work hours of a certified financial planner vary, but the most common hours are
from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Although, the average financial planner has extreme flexibility during
those set hours. For example, most financial planners work through appointments (Otts, Chip). They
set appointments that work into there schedule. This gives people the ability to spend time with there
families, attend important events, and to be involved in their children s lives (Otts,

Chadwick s Argumentative Analysis
A little girl is enrolling in kindergarten. She meets all the qualifications necessary for the school,
except for one: she has not received all the required vaccinations. Her parents have heard stories of
children developing autism after receiving the MMR vaccine, and they are not willing to give her
immunizations. These parents are not alone in this fear, though there is no scientific evidence that any
vaccine causes autism. This false idea arose from a study (which was eventually revoked) in The
Lancet, a medical journal in the United Kingdom, which showed that children developed
gastrointestinal problems related to autism after receiving the MMR vaccine.
Despite the fact that there have been cases of children showing symptoms of autism ... Show more

In California, autism rates grew from 6.2 per 10,000 births in 1990 to 42.5 per 10,000 births in 2001.
Upon hearing these results as well as similar growth rates in other areas, many parents began to refuse
vaccinations for their children. Although this is a significant increase, there are other reasons that
explain an increase in autistic children. Due to more research in neurological conditions, there was
more information available about autism. Children were often diagnosed as simply mentally retarded
when in fact they had a disorder on the autism spectrum. Therefore, a change in diagnoses contributed

Essay On Climate Change In Agriculture
The data which we have obtained is in relation to our research questions our group has constructed for
this assignment. To obtain this data a varying number of sources where used to achieve the appropriate
quantity and most importantly a sound quality of data. The major sources of data that were utilised
where book s, news outlets, internet sources such as (IMF, The World Bank Group) and academic
journals. Through having different sources of data different viewpoints where examined and

These issues will severely impact the way in which agricultural workers can produce in the coming
future. Without common necessities, such as water and other natural resources destroyed by humans.
The consequences of these actions and the loss of production will be discussed in a more in depth
manner further on in this report where the likely implications for business and society will be
analysed. In gathering primary data however, it is evident how much many different countries rely
heavily on their agricultural sectors. Per Xu, Li Wan (2017, p. 95) China s most important priority is
feeding its people and with climate change levels trending upwards this integral priority could become
threatened. With a growing population and a continued lack of output China has become the greatest
producer of food in the world producing 25% of the planet s food and feeding 20% of the world s
population. Countries such as the United States and Australia have also seen a growing rate of
awareness and attraction towards looking to aid in the effort to fight climate change and global
warming. As stated earlier Australia introduced a new sustainability strategy back in 2015 titled the
National Climate Resilience and Adoption Strategy . The United States however, have gone a different
way in addressing the situation of climate change. President Donald Trump pulled the United States

Specialties within Radiology
Modern medicine is capable of treating a tremendous range of human disease and injuries, but the
usefulness of all medical specialties depends on accurate diagnosis. Virtually every conceivable
medical specialty relies on radiological technologies to provide formal diagnoses, making radiology
one of the most important of all medical specialties. Radiologists enjoy some of the best working
conditions in modern medicine and typically experience very positive employment conditions.
Consequently, their services are generally in very high demand, with many starting out with six figure
annual incomes immediately after completion of their professional training. Within the field of
radiology, there are: (1) radiologists who are physicians ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the words of my Radiology professor, Warren Hejny, Radiology can take you anywhere; it can be
used as a starting block or stepping stone. Because of its tremendously wide applications within
modern medicine, radiology offers more than a dozen distinct areas of even greater specialization
within the field. Some of those specialty areas involve direct medical intervention, such as in the case
of radiation oncology and interventional radiology. Others focus more on diagnostics rather than on
direct medical treatment.
In that regard, breast imaging involves diagnosing diseases of the breast through mammography,
ultrasound, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and tissue biopsies. Cardiovascular radiology is the
radiology specialty that uses X rays, computer axial tomography (CAT scans), MRIs, and ultrasound
to diagnose problems with the heart and circulatory system. Chest radiology employs many of the
same technologies and tools to diagnose and treat medical conditions of the heart and lungs. Other
radiology specialty practice areas include: gastrointestinal radiology, emergency radiology, head and
neck radiology, musculoskeletal radiology, and reproductive radiology. Finally, radiology specialties
can also intersect directly with other specialty areas of interest such as

Plagiarism Essay Examples
Taking someone s words and using them without a proper citation is a problem. Without being taught
the correct way, this problem is not going to correct itself and will continue to become a bigger
problem. There are major consequences for plagiarising, but these can be avoided with a simple
citation. Tying together the definition of plagiarism, reasons for using documentation, and an
explanation of MLA 8 and APA citations will all be brought together. Learning what kind of citation,
and what needs a citation is a very important concept in becoming a successful writer. Citing a source
correctly will save you time and problems.

These students were taught a life lesson, something that they will never do again. Being taught, the
correct way, at a young age will solve many of the problems that we have today. Becoming aware of
the consequences that this could lead to would be worth the extra time citing a document, or writing
your own paper. Taking someone s words or writing could lead to loss of job/school, fines, and so
much more. To avoid these problems, a simple citation will help anyone become aware that you did
give credit to the author. Jim Carnett published an article in the Los Angeles Times stating that he had
tried to submit a column to an editor but they sent it back because it contained plagiarised material.
Carnett said, I lifted a portion of one of my columns and inserted it in the Daily Pilot piece without
attribution. He hadn t cited his own work and now what he did was plagiarism. To Carnett, this was a
total accident, but this shows that you should cite any information that you use. Although there are
arguments that there is no such thing as plagiarism, If a novelist uses a non fiction book for research,
how is that stealing? Non fiction promises facts, there is no copyright in facts, ergo no stealing...
(Independent.co.uk) it is always best to give credit to the source that you received the information
from; thus not having a chance of plagiarism.

Hydrogen Fuel or Others Essay
Hydrogen Fuel or Others
It is stated in the article Benefits of a Hydrogen Economy in Hydrogen Future that if we use hydrogen
as an energy source in the U.S.A, it could help address concerns about energy security, global climate
change, and air quality. Hydrogen fuel cells appear to be an one important enabling technology for
increasing energy savings and reducing global climate change; however, I suggest that much more
research is needed before the nation becomes absorbed in developing the hydrogen economy. In
addition to the hydrogen fuel cells, the nation should continue to investigate other technologies such
as new generation diesel, hybrids and solar cells. At present these technologies have come to maturity
to some degree. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For that reason, it is likely that GHG emissions might not be reduced even if hydrogen fuel cells could
be put to practical use.
Moreover, another vulnerable point was mentioned in the article Road to Hydrogen Cars May Not Be
So Clean. Hydrogen is a very leaky gas that could escape from cars and hydrogen plants into the
atmosphere. Hydrogen that leaks into the atmosphere binds with oxygen molecules, forming vapor
and clouds. This could lead to additional global warming according to Tim Patterson, a professor at
Carlton University in Canada. He claims that the amount of water vapor in the atmosphere has the
most significant influence on global temperature. And Catherine G. Padro, at Los Alamos National
Laboratory, says that hydrogen can act as a kind of CFC, destroying part of the earth s atmospheric
ozone which shields us from cancer causing solar radiation. At present, there are still a lot of problems
which should be investigated in detail before we commit ourselves to the use of hydrogen fuel cells.
On the other hand, hybrid petrol electric cars such as the Toyota Prius are becoming increasingly
popular. Compared with new American cars of the same size, the Prius consumes roughly half as
much petrol, and so releases half as much carbon dioxide. Moreover, its emissions of smog forming
pollutants, such as nitrogen oxides and hydrocarbon, are 90% lower. These hybrid cars cut emissions

Stephanie Guttenplan Influence
No doubt, we all have wondered what inspires an artist. When looking at their paintings or drawings,
we often put aside the emotions and inspirations to pieces, simply because that information isn t given.
Because everyone has their own unique way to express themselves, it makes us wonder. Whether it is
a drawing, a musical work or an invention of some sort, each piece has a connection and emotional tie.
These emotions translate into the quality of the work. Mentioning that showing work to others,
whether it is a song or poem, can significantly improve it. Sometimes other people may see mistakes
that the artist may not have through their cloud of emotional attachment. Stephanie Guttenplan is no

The United States Stock Market Crash
On October 29, 1929 the United States Stock Market Crashed. It was devastating. About 16 Billion
U.S. dollars went down the drain. I live in New York with my 2 brothers and sister: Jack, Daniel, and
Maggie. We use to live in a pretty upscale apartment. However,The depression hit us like a train. My
dad, Tom was laid off at his law firm right after the stock market crashed. He was desperate for money
so he began work in a textile factory. Unemployment rates skyrocketed from a mere 3% to 25%! My
mom, Jean, use to be a stay at home mom, but now works in a clothing sweatshop to put food on the
table. With such little pay we were forced to move out of our beautiful apartment into a crummy run
down tenement. Shortly after, my father lost his job at the Textile factory. It s 1931 right now and he
hasn t worked since. We couldn t even depend upon our savings. Thousands upon thousands of banks
were closed down, so we lost all of our money in the bank. My widowed aunt Celeste has also come
to live with us. Her husband committed suicide after losing all his money when the Stock Market
collapsed. My mom had to get a second job and make ends meet. But it just not enough. We were
evicted from our tiny one bedroom tenement. We now reside in a Hooverville. We barely have enough
money to put a little food on the table. My little sister has asthma and her medication costs a lot so she
s been sick lately. I mainly blame our financial situation on margin buying and President Hoover.

Marijuana Use among High School Seniors in the United States
Marijuana Use Marijuana use among high school seniors in the United States has been on the rise
causing greater concerns for addiction and health concerns among teenagers. According to the CDC,
in 2010, marijuana use among high school seniors rose to 21.4%, with 25.2% being male users and
16.9% being female (Health, United States, 2011, 2011). This shows a steady increase every year
starting in 2007 where 18.8% of high school seniors were using marijuana, with 22.3% were male and
15.0% were female. Ages as young as 12 years old also showed the same statistical trends, even in
Middle Schools. Up to 1920, there were isolated accounts of marijuana and those that did show up in
the press showed marijuana being smoked for recreational purposes (Harrison, 2010). After
prohibition, marijuana markets started to emerge in cities. Harry Anslinger, Federal Narcotics
Commissioner, alleged marijuana as being responsible for violent cases and waged war against
marijuana in 1933. As a result, 46 states enacted anti marijuana legislation. The Marijuana Tax Act of
1937 placed marijuana with Schedule I drugs that included opium and cocaine. The Boggs Bill of
1951 and the Narcotic Drug Act of 1956 served to establish severe penalties for violation of drug laws.
The Single Convention on Narcotic Drugs in 1961 was enacted to modernize and coordinate
international narcotic control. Provisions were made for cannabis. The Controlled Substances Act of
1970 consolidated over 50 drug laws and

universities for everyone, when we know that universities are controlled by the private sector. Bernie
Sanders and other Democratic politicians talk about what the middle and lower class citizens want to
hear. Now let s talk about reality. A politician needs to make great offers to have a shot at the
Presidency. The strategies that Bernie Sanders was promising to reach the presidency were unrealistic,
because he would have to go through a congress that is mostly Republican. Republicans do not have
the same ideals as Bernie Sanders. Republicans work for the upper class. Bernie Sanders promises

Children As Enemies By Ha Jin
A breakaway from tradition also includes a breakaway from family in the case for author Ha Jin s
short story, Children as Enemies. The story focuses on immigrant Chinese grandparents from the Xi
family who came to America to be with their son and his children, only to be driven away by their
grandchildren s hostility towards everything Chinese that started with their dislike for their traditional
names. The children are trying to Americanize themselves as much as they can while the grandparents
are trying to keep everything as traditional as they can whereas the son of the grandparents tries to act
as a neutral barrier of sorts that ultimately fails when the grandparents move out. The short story takes
on the numerous themes but mainly the clash of cultures and how one s heritage can potentially
dwindle from one generation to the next. Qigan and Hua Xi are the grandchildren of the focalizer, who
are unhappy with their first and family name as well with just about everything else that resembled
their family culture, save for some food they enjoy. It is noted how important a character, as well as all
people s names are, as noted by characterization. The protagonist notes this fact, having sought all the
names of his family from the prosperity of a fortune teller. The children and their parents pay no mind
to this, abiding the children s wish for a new name. Slowly but surely, a break from tradition is
forming. Something especially important however, is their attendance to

These three civilizations organized societies, carried on trade and produced calendars. 2) The improvements in technology in the late 1400s that allowed European exploration of the Western Hemisphere were the usage of gunpowder to battle against people, sailing compasses, and there was the improvements of the ships/ the constant updating of the maps. 3) The religious motivation for European exploration and colonization s of the Americas was the rivalry of European countries to impose their own form of Christianity to non Christians in the Americas, Asia and Africa. • 3. The Benefits Of Capital Gains And The Values Of Money Capital gains are effectively just money earned for having money in the first place and investing it wisely. Capital gains are realized once an investor sells their stocks in a publicly traded company, and are the way in which thousands of wealthy Americans become even richer. The term capital gains also applies to money received from index funds, which are a type of mutual fund with a portfolio constructed to match or track the components of a market index (CITE). This means that by depositing money into an index fund, that money is invested in a wide variety high performing companies. Then, when that money is withdrawn, the owner receives capital gains, just like an individual investor would. Many upper middle class and wealthy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is a glaring flaw and one that blatantly allows the wealthy to become wealthier, with no checks on that wealth. Unfortunately, this policy does not just aid the wealthy, but it hurts the poor and middle class that use public goods that are funded by taxes. Demonstrating this, the Congressional Budget Office (CBO), predicts that Normalizing the capital gains tax rate so that it s the same as the income tax rate is an easy way to bring a lot of money into the public fisc some $161 billion per year (CITE). For comparison, the poorest 50% of Americans paid a total of $34 billion in taxes in 2013. Taxing capital gains as if it were normal income would remove the tool that the rich and powerful use to become even more rich and powerful, as well as inject billions of into public projects. Therefore, it would go far in solving the issue of wealth inequality that we face today. Fortunately, this issue is very simple to solve. All that is required is for the federal government to treat capital gains as normal income. Subsequently, public projects and systems that are currently suffering with little money, would receive an incredible boost. However, there is still opposition to these ideas among wealthy Americans, Congressmen, and voters. Several arguments are used in opposition to some of the policies that have been suggested in this paper, and in the next few paragraphs, I will refute the common opponents. The first of these opposing viewpoints ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The lion, having been starved for the past few days, was looking for a chance to attack. When the lion jumped out, the girl was not afraid. Instead, she walked up to the lion, and held a hand out. The lion was confused, then, out of curiosity, let the girl pet him. The girl handed the lion some of the meat she had on her, and the lion realized she wasn t a threat. He bowed down to her and let her on his back. For the next week, the little girl would come into the mountains, and play with the lion. One day, she explained to him what the little lights in the sky were, and instantly the lion became obsessed with the stars. The girl left for her village, and her father demanded that she tell him where she had been. When she explained to him that she was with the lion, he grabbed a gun and went into the mountain. When young tomato plants are damaged, they tend to go into a dormant, survival stage in which plant growth is delayed for a while. Frost damage is something to look out for when planting tomatoes early on in the season. Frost damage is marked by tender, dark green spots on the leaves. Although they won t kill the plant, frostbites will make them dormant for a while, delaying plant growth. During the germination process, the seed absorbs moisture and nutrients ... Leaves trap energy from sunlight and convert it into pure compounds. For this the leaves are arranged on the stem in a way that they are exposed mostly in the sunlight. i) Leaves help in the process of plant cellular respiration. Plant cellular respiration carried out in the daylight is called photorespiration, or light respiration. The plant uses a portion of the oxygen created by photosynthesis. Since the process of photosynthesis produces more oxygen than the plant can use, the excess is released into the air through the stomata, tiny air holes in the leaves. The plant takes its sugars directly from what is being produced by photosynthesis. 5) Food Making: j) Photosynthesis: the process of producing and releasing oxygen in the air. Photosynthesis is performed by the plants to produce their own food. The process of Photosynthesis requires direct sunlight, carbon dioxide and water (H2O). In the process of Photosynthesis, the plants decompose the molecules of hydrogen and carbon dioxide into hydrogen, carbon and oxygen to produce glucose which forms the source of their energy, growth and food. This involves the conversion of stored energy of the sunlight, water and carbon dioxide into glucose which is an organic compound and release oxygen in the process. k) Importance of photosynthesis: Plants are the only living things that produce their own food. ... • 12. Limitations Of Racist Speech Limits on Racist Speech in Public Contexts When the first amendment is brought up, one of the first things that comes to mind is free speech. Even though we don t give it much thought, our free speech does have limits. The more obvious limits such as knowing that you can t threaten people or shout Fire! in a crowded space make sense because it s easy to see how they cause direct harm. These general limits are important in order to ensure a safe and peaceful society, but when it comes to voicing prejudice views, it becomes difficult to determine what should and should not be restricted by the first amendment. After all, when negative and hurtful opinions are directed at a specific group of people, it becomes hard to see how protecting them could be a good thing. The important thing to remember is that when sharing these views becomes harmful and leads to harassment, it is no longer protected under the first amendment. However, everyone sees things differently, so drawing the line between what is just offensive and harassment needs to be determined and treated on a case by case basis. This will not only allow us to come to a solution for these individual problems, but it leaves room for discussion which will help to combat the root cause of prejudice. While trying to think of ways to regulate racist speech, we might think that an easy solution would be to place a ban on racist speech altogether, but this quickly becomes problematic. Banning specific opinions and beliefs would no longer make our speech free, and even when people are permitted to share wrong or offensive opinions, protecting free speech still has more potential benefit than harm. This gives us the right to speak out against our government when it is doing something we disagree with, but it also allows people to share their racist views. If we want to continue to reap the benefits, we also have to accept that racist speech is a part of free speech, thus protected under the first amendment. This is not the same thing as saying that racist speech should be unregulated; there are regulations for when hate speech becomes harmful, but the government shouldn t and isn t responsible for regulating it. The issue of regulating racist speech is a local ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. Land Title System In Canada The potential industrial/commercial property being examined as a possible business location is located in St Pierre Jolys, Manitoba (near Winnipeg, Manitoba). It is important to note in which province in Canada the property is located because some provinces use a different system for land ownership and transfer than others. For example, in the Atlantic provinces of Canada and parts of Ontario, the registry system is used, and in most of Ontario, the western provinces, and the territories, the land titles system is used. In Manitoba, the land titles system is now used in the entire jurisdiction (reference). Therefore, the location of the property is important in terms of the steps to be taken in real estate sales in Canada because based on whether the registry or land titles system is used, the steps, precautions, etc. That need to be taken vary. As an example, with the registry system, a transfer of ownership must be registered, whereas with the land titles system, the transfer must be filed. Additionally, the registry system does not provide the same protection from interests that the land titles system does, and as such, requires more risk management steps to be taken. There are a magnitude of distinctive concerns that a purchaser would have regarding the property in question. First of all, since the purchaser would want to change what the property is being used for, the one would need to know that they can make the necessary changes to the operation of the land and that ... • 15. Stress in the Emergency Department Stress, Burnout, and Compassion Fatigue in the Emergency Department Background Nursing is a field that many enter with the intention of helping and providing care to those with mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual needs (Lombardo Eyre, 2011). Many consider nursing as their calling; yet have not prepared themselves for the emotional and physical implications that come from having interpersonal relationships with families and patients. As nurses care for the ill, traumatized, and vulnerable patients in their charge, they inadvertently expose themselves to the pain, suffering, and trauma that their patients are experiencing on a regular basis. When the continued stress of this field is not dealt with, one can become a victim of the overwhelming need that surrounds them, which can result in burnout or compassion fatigue. This not only effects ones physical and emotional health, but also results in decreased productivity and job satisfaction, as well as increasing job turnover rate (Lombardo Eyre, 2011; Boyle, 2011). This concept is predominantly true of those working in the Emergency Department, and is actually where the context of compassion fatigue was first noted approximately two decades ago, but is also seen across the spectrum of health care providers in all areas (Boyle, 2011). This topic will be discussed further in the words following, as well as an exploration of ways to overcome compassion fatigue in the workplace. Definition of Terms In order to ... McCarthy created this concept of a world to intensify the meaning of the piece all together. This darkness in the world creates to fear and the isolation for characters to realize that this is how life is from now on. The son in this novel comes to the realization of the world due to certain events within the novel that manipulation the view the son has on the world. An important flaw the son has is that he does not remember the world as a peaceful place the son only remembers the world destroyed. This type of naivetes gives the boy a minimal outlook on the past and see the difference of the present. The father knows the difference which gives the father the realization before The Road begins. The son in portions of The Road is starving, this desolate place called the world does not give any chance of hope or second ones. The importance of this geographical state in the book makes the father and son rely on one another because they know the very importance of staying alive, and the only way they can do that is to fight for one another. The Road opens with a setting of desolation, When he woke in the woods in the dark and the cold of the night he d reach out to touch the child sleeping beside him , which creates a concern within the readers that are realizing the magnitude of this horrible place. The health service is situated in this part because of the essential services that it provides for individuals, community health and peoples. Furthermore, the health situation in a community presents an understandable picture of the extent of economic, social and cultural development, which is why countries aspire to make progress and to increase interest in the services provided by health institutions. Undoubtedly the health care service is facing an increasingly complex challenge regarding the provision of high quality services. According to the complexity of health care services and systems, exploring and explaining the availability, utilisation, costs, quality and accessibility; the delivery and continuity of health care services is the key to informing government officials, health insurers, health providers, and the public and decision makers on the subject of health related issues. Rather, it must include the cooperation of different specialists who work with and in the health care system consistently (Ashworth et al., 1992). • 20. Resurfice Vs Hanke Case Study When reviewing the facts of the case Resurfice v. Hanke, it may appear as though it was a clear win for Resurfice inc, however I believe that the Supreme Court of Canada made some key errors in making their decision, ultimately leading the judges to make the wrong decision. Firstly the Supreme court did not place a strong enough emphasis on the design flaws of the Zamboni. • 21. Why Are The American Colonists Considered A Loyalists During the American Revolution, the American colonists had to decide to support the War for Independence or remain loyal to the British and King George III. Some Americans could not decide which side to choose and remained neutral during the war. Most American colonists, however, did choose sides. Those who supported independence from Britain were known as Patriots. Colonists who opposed independence from Britain were known as Loyalists. Most Patriots supported independence because they felt that recent British laws on the American Colonies violated their rights as British citizens. This included taxing without consent, quartering soldiers in citizens homes, and denying colonists the right to a trial. Most Loyalists who opposed independence tended to be wealthy landowners, clergymen, or people with business or political ties to Britain. Some believed that the British government had the right to ask the colonies to pay half the cost of their own defense. • 22. It is easy to say that species are constantly changing,... It is easy to say that species are constantly changing, and branching off into totally new species. But how do we know where the species originate? Phylogenies help to show us how all kinds of species are related to each other, and why. These relationships are put into what can be called a cladogram, which links species to common ancestors, in turn showing where, when, how, and why these ancestors diverged to form new species. Without phylogenies, it would be extremely difficult to put species in specific categories or relate them to one another. Along with phylogenies can come conflict on which species should be related to one another. This conflict causes many hypotheses and experiments, which can lead to phylogenetic retrofitting, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The parareptile hypothesis is taken back at least two decades. It has recently been rediscovered and contradicted by parsimony. Bayesian inferences support this parareptile conclusion, but parsimony concludes the idea of turtles being a sister group to pareiasaurs, which is an anapsid group, including Eunotosaurus. To test these hypothesis, a multitude of data is compiled to observe the stability behind the inferences made. In this article, one main experiment was discussed through the collection and analysis of two retrofitted matrices, phylogenetic analyses, and molecular scaffolds. In one matrice, Eunotosaurus was added to a diapsid focused data set, while turtles were added to an anapsid focused data set. The diapsid sets included a broad sampling of diapsids, which placed turtles as sisters to sauropterygians. The anapsid set, on the other hand, included a broad sampling of anapsids, especially parareptiles. Turtles were not included in the anapsid set. When the experiment moves on to the phylogenetic analysis, Bayesian inferences and parsimony were brought into the mix. After these analyses, the experiment finally includes molecular scaffolding. The effect of molecular scaffolding was to see where extant linneages interact with molecular phylogenies. The, the Bayesian and parsimony analyses were again repeated with these backbone constraints while everything else is indifferent. The idea ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Her parents have heard stories of children developing autism after receiving the MMR vaccine, and they are not willing to give her immunizations. These parents are not alone in this fear, though there is no scientific evidence that any vaccine causes autism. Hydrogen fuel cells appear to be an one important enabling technology for increasing energy savings and reducing global climate change; however, I suggest that much more research is needed before the nation becomes absorbed in developing the hydrogen economy. For that reason, it is likely that GHG emissions might not be reduced even if hydrogen fuel cells could be put to practical use. Moreover, another vulnerable point was mentioned in the article Road to Hydrogen Cars May Not Be So Clean. Hydrogen is a very leaky gas that could escape from cars and hydrogen plants into the atmosphere. Hydrogen that leaks into the atmosphere binds with oxygen molecules, forming vapor and clouds. This could lead to additional global warming according to Tim Patterson, a professor at Carlton University in Canada. He claims that the amount of water vapor in the atmosphere has the most significant influence on global temperature. And Catherine G. Padro, at Los Alamos National Laboratory, says that hydrogen can act as a kind of CFC, destroying part of the earth s atmospheric ozone which shields us from cancer causing solar radiation. At present, there are still a lot of problems which should be investigated in detail before we commit ourselves to the use of hydrogen fuel cells.
