Nonpermanent Members Of The United Nations
On October 24, 1945, the five victors of World War II assembled in San Francisco to draft a document
called the Charter of the United Nations, which outlined the laws of the United Nations. This charter
created six different branches of the UN. One of the six organs was the UN Security Council. The
Security Council was assigned the task of ensuring that international peace and security is maintained.
The SC consists of fifteen total members whom are also members of the United Nations. The Union of
Soviet Socialist Republics, the Republic of China, the United States of America, the United Kingdom
of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, and France act as the five permanent members of the United
Nations because they were the original victors of the Second World War. The remaining ten
nonpermanent members of the UN are elected by the General Assembly for a two year term. Each
member of the UN Security Council is allowed only one representative.
Diving more in depth about how the UNSC ensures that international peace and security is
maintained, it is important to understand how the Security Council operates. The charter states that,
the Security Council shall act in accordance with the purposes and principle of the United Nations.
(Article 24) When it comes to the topic of voting, decisions of the Security Council procedural matters
shall be made by an affirmative vote of nine members. (Article 27) The Security Council has the

Employee Benefit Issues In M A
One of the many areas HR is an intricate partner in M A is to assist senior management with
identifying and assessing legal risks. As part of the M A due diligence process, HR may be required to
obtain information related to benefit and non benefit issues. Benefit issues such as severance and
transfers of 401(k)s relate to compliance with the Employee Retirement Income Security Act and tax
codes. Other benefit issues include union sponsored multi employer plans, defined benefit or defined
contribution plans, etc. Non benefit issues include compliance with legal requirements, such as I 9 and
visa regulations, the Family and Medical Leave Act, and wage and hour regulations. The Worker

In part, the people impact can be understood in financial terms (e.g., annual payroll, outstanding
retirement obligations, pending employment claims). Financial terms, however, are only a part of the
impact of human capital. Perhaps the more significant impact of human capital is the difference people
make in the value of the company. Some areas by which HR can be an effective partner in this area is
by accessing risk with (i) the track record and prospects for the research development team, (ii) the
nature and quality of the customer relationships with the sales team, and (iii) the experiences and
perceptions the employees hold about the management team. All of these areas require human capital
due diligence far beyond financial statements (Kompare, 2016). To mitigate the risk assessment of the
people , HR can use a standard set of due diligence materials such as comprehensive data requests,
reporting templates, detailed cost models, cultural assessment tools, and interview guides. Such
materials help to ensure a consistent approach to due diligence, while providing resources for less
experienced members of the due diligence

A leader is a person who inspires. He brings the best out of his people and they, in turn, follow him in
the realization of his goals. In other words, a true leader communicates his aspirations and creates a
shared passion for a common objective.
In order to be effective, a leader must first believe in his vision so as to be able to convey his thoughts
to others and consequently convince them of the importance of his idea. As a result, such a leader can
guide people with a firm hand and at the same time create resonance. Finally, empathy is probably ...

BIOGRAPHY
Born on September 18, 1971 in Plano Texas, Lance Armstrong began his athletic career by taking part
at the age of 13 in athletic activities such as triathlon. When he turned 16, Lance focused on cycling,
what would later become his passion and point of recognition to the world. Four years later Lance
won the National Amateur Cycling Championship and in 1993 he won the Pro Cycling Tour s Triple
Crown, a major cycling event in the States. At the Olympic Games of 1996, he suffered from fatigue
and bronchitis disappointing his fans by finishing in the twelfth place. The weariness he felt and the
illnesses he suffered were justified later that year when he was diagnosed with cancer. When the
diagnosis was made, Lance was already at the third and final stage of testicular cancer, where cancer
had already spread in his lungs and brain. Five months after the diagnosis Lance began training again
and in 1998 he returned to racing, sponsored by the U.S. Postal Service. During his two year absence,
Lance created the Lance Armstrong Foundation. It was trough the foundation that Lance met his
future wife, Kristin Richard with which he has tree children. In 1999, just three years after his
treatment for cancer, Lance won the Tour de France, leading the entire race and proving to the world
his renewed capabilities. In 2001, Armstrong was given a clean bill of health which meant that during

Reconstruction Dbq Essay
Reconstruction DBQ After the Civil War, the era of reconstruction was a time for America to try
restructure and rebuild itself. To the United States demise, not much was actually reconstructed nor
bettered concerning the lives of American citizens. The main cause of a somewhat failed attempt at
reconstruction was the South, also known as the Confederates. Due to their recession towards slavery
and dehumanization of African Americans, the South was the killer of reconstruction. The most
prominent cause of the Civil War regarded the treatment of African Americans. The North fought to
end slavery and consider blacks equal to whites and on the contrary, the South fought to continue
slavery and keep the traditional practices used considering the treatment of blacks. Finishing
victorious, the North tried their best to enforce humane treatment towards African Americans yet the
South merely pushed these laws to the side. Consequently, the South came up with their ... Show more

Due to the cycle in which workers would be constantly bombarded with large amounts of debt, they
had no other choice then to keep working and try to stabilize their finances. With the little amount of
necessities given, these workers were essentially held as slaves. Adding to the economic issues
regarding sharecropping, farmers would usually have to give up around 50 to 60% of their harvested
crop leaving them poor and resourceless (Document B). Another way that the South killed
reconstruction was through voting practices. Confederates would violently force blacks into voting for
southern representatives and if they were strong enough to disregard their threats, it wasn t uncommon
that they would later be beaten, whipped, and attacked. (Document C) These practices went against
the constitution and laws created after the Civil War and therefore are deemed to have taken part in

Reflective Writing Using Gibb s Model of Reflection Essay
Reflective Writing Essay
INTRODUCTION
The following reflective writing essay will centre on a particular event that I witnessed. I will be using
Gibbs model of reflection, from Gibbs, G. (1988). For confidentiality purposes, I will name my family
member as Estelita who is a fifty five year old female.
DESCRIPTION
Estelita was experiencing shortness of breath and chest pain. She called an ambulance, whereby a
FRU car arrived, followed by a backup ambulance crew. The FRU responder performed a primary
survey on Estelita, after which she was transported to the nearest hospital by the backup crew who
made her walk to the ambulance at the start of the journey and on her arrival at A E.

Von Essen (1994) opposed the view that patients placed interpersonal aspects of caring as more
important than care tasks. Interestingly, patients made few comments about technical excellence of
health care professionals. Halldorsdottir and Hamrin s (1997) study found that patients emphasised the
importance of professional competence over interpersonal aspects of care . I think that as patients or
family members, we automatically assume our health carers are technically competent and I felt that a
more humanistic approach would not have exacerbated an already distressing situation. Thorne (1988)
reported that patients perceived that communication with health care professionals was important in
enhancing care quality.
CONCLUSION
The doctor found Estelita s symptoms to be attributed to her condition Fibromyalgia which Wallace,
Daniel J. (2003) states is a form of soft tissue rheumatism. A complaint was sent to the ambulance
service regarding the crew s conduct and a letter of apology was received.
ACTION PLAN
In my future paramedic career, I will adhere to the HPC standard of conduct at all times and try to
continue the chain of care until I handover my patient. Unlike the backup crew, I will try to remain
professional at all times even though I might be faced by time, social and work pressures.

When we first meet her, she is angry because her parents are moving them to a new town and she

the park, her parents begins to eat on the food they found and she refrains from eating any. She meets
Haku, when she explores the park herself, he tells her to go before it gets dark, but her parents turned
into pigs. You humans always make a mess of thing. Like your parents who gobbled up the food for
the spirits like pigs. They got what they deserved. She later finds out this is the spirit world and a bath
house for spirits. She meets a spider like man, who helps her get a job, an old witch, who hates her and
a dragon, who helps her through this journey. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

People were afraid of flying, which led to a decline in passenger traffic.
Terrorists
The world airline industry was severely shaken by the terrorist events of 11th September 2001, and
this is directly result in a catastrophic fall in personal air travel. After that, the security level was
increased at all the airport, that result in high cost put into airline industry, due to more personnel and
further expensive security applications. More security leads to increase waiting times, makes air
transportation less attractive.
Economical
Economical can be another major factor for the airline industry. Airlines profitability is closely tied to
world economic growth and international trade. Due to the rate of war and terrorist event, the growth
rate of economy dramatic slowdown, capacity in Europe outstrips demand, which gains the low yield
to the airline industry. The airline industry is now faced with significant capacity overhang and high
cost platform, especially in the US. The report shows that, two major airlines American Airline and
United airline losses of more than US$ 3billion for 2002, which makes world airlines get struggle.

A Rhetorical Analysis Of Breaking The Line By Samuel Freedman
Samuel Freedman uses rhetoric to call white American sports fan to attention. Although it is only a
four page article, Freedman effectively uses the three main rhetorical techniques of pathos, ethos, and
logos. By appealing to all aspects of the readers analytical senses, this helps Freedman strongly
portray his message for justice in the sports community for not only black athletes, but for anyone of
any race or background.
Right away Samuel Freedman uses pathos in his article to appeal to the audience s emotions. He
focuses on the example of Ray Lewis, a former NFL superstar who has recently been scrutinized by
thousands of fans who used to adore him. Ray Lewis joined the Baltimore Ravens on the field during
the second week of the NFL season. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After including the counterclaim from Douglas Hartmann, Freedman quickly refutes its accuracy by
saying, The reality is that modern American sports have always been political. Segregation was reified
by all white baseball and football leagues(3). Freedman then proceeds to talk about some of the most
acclaimed athletes of all time such as Jackie Robinson, Bill Russell, Jim Brown, and Kareem Abdul
Jabbar. He mentions how all of these athletes are in the hall of fame in their respected sports. It is
important to note that Ray Lewis will also be enshrined into the National Football Hall of Fame in
August, and he too took a political stand. The logic being exemplified here is that all the athletes listed
above were some of the best ever at what they did. This white stardom did not stop them from risking
it all by fighting for equality for people of all backgrounds. This calls out white America for its
immoral treatment of not only Ray Lewis, but any other athlete that is fighting for justice for all. This
catches the pathos side of things by sticking to the logical side of the

The Theory Of Psychology And New Schools
There exist various schools of psychology, each having a different approach. Most psychologists agree
that no one approach is correct. Each has its strengths and weaknesses and adds to our understanding
of human behaviour.
Over the years there have been various significant developments in psychology, and new schools have
developed which try to fill the gaps of previous approaches and offer a new perspective. The timeline
could be traced from Structuralism (Wundt, 1879), which was the first school of thought. It proposed
breaking down of mental processes into its most fundamental components in trying to understand a
person s mind. Then came functionalism (James,1902). Functionalists weren t concerned with mental
processes, but in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, most of the theories only deal with a subset of the problems. Some theories are concerned
about the generation of emotions; some are concerned about effects of such emotions on individual s
actions and behaviours while some are concerned about the links between emotions and actions. One
such theory is Structuralism. Known as the first school of Psychology, Structuralism has been
developed by Wilhelm Wundt and Edward Titchener. Wilhelm Wundt in 1879, founded the first
psychological laboratory in Leipzig, Germany. He is known as the father of Structuralism (Dobson
and Bruce 1972). Structuralism is primarily based on Elementalism (Alfred Korzybski, 1950) which
suggests a conception of complex phenomena regarding essential parts or elements. Structuralism is a
theory of consciousness. (Wundt, 1874) Structuralism seeks to observe and examine the person s mind
by breaking all life experiences into the simplest components and finding how they shape collectively
to form greater complex experiences and the way they correlate to physical events. Wundt proposes
that all emotions can be understood as few underlying feelings or mental states to understand them
better and explain how they are all interrelated. Wundt adopted experimental techniques from
physiology (Danziger 1990) the model of chemistry also inspired Wundt

Donovan Implications
We laugh about the person who says, I know I m right; don t confuse me with arguments . And yet
there are times when we find ourselves wanting to say that too. For there are situations in which we
feel sure that we know something, even though if asked to give a good argument to back up our claim
we are at a loss to know quite how to do so. I know you re the person I spoke to on the bus yesterday. I
know I have two hands. I know it is wrong to let that child starve. I know that six minus four leaves
two. Our experience of being confident that we are right in cases like those is often called intuition.
Intuitive knowing seems to be a direct, convincing way of knowing, which needs no further argument.
And it is a perfectly ordinary, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He is keen to point out that it is not a type of argument ( direct ) and that it is very hard to doubt it (
convincing ). By defining intuition in this way Donovan is treating it as a possibly genuine way to
gain knowledge, distinct from intellectual argument.
Finally, Donovan asks the question, are there such things as intuitions in religious matters too? This is
his key question. Given that he accepts that intuition works on some level he wants to know whether it
can be extended to also work on matters of religion, such as whether God exists and if so, what he is
like. Donovan wants to explore whether religious experience can be a basis for intuitive knowledge of
God. This is unlike Swinburne s argument from religious experience where the conclusion God exists
is deduced from premises. Instead it is not an argument at all, but an immediate apprehension of
knowledge of God from experience of God.
These are the three key aspects of Donovan s argument in the above passage. Whilst there are no
secondary points to explain the section does link to several key debates in the philosophy of religion.
Firstly, in discussing whether religious intuition exists Donovan is contributing to the debate over
whether God exists. In addition to philosophers such as Swinburne and Paley, Donovan is offering the
possibility of an alternative way to gain objective knowledge of God/that he exists

Southern Subculture Of Violence
Subcultures of violence are mostly described by its norms, identifiable values or shared views for their
communication which orders the use of violence in various circumstances. Subcultures are not entirely
different from a larger culture to which they re surrounded. On the other hand, the subcultural
supporters contribute many social beliefs of the dominant culture and observe a separate set of
principles and ideals that are not overlooked by the larger class of society. Observing to the beliefs of
a subculture of violence or the use of violence in a particular situation isn t just to tolerate it, but to
expect it. This expectation promotes an ideal behavior, meaning that opposing agreements can occur if
violence isn t used in a situation for which subcultural rules request it. Generally, the most discussed
subcultures of violence both said to be found in America are the Black subculture of violence and
Southern subculture of violence.

The Black experience has led some to suggest the existence of a unique Black subculture of violence,
in which a small subset of the Black population adheres to normative expectations that are uncannily
similar to those found in the Southern subculture of violence. Although recent empirical research
using individual level survey data finds no support for the notion that Blacks are more tolerant of
violence, at least one recent analyst has intriguingly argued that Black violence is a cultural
phenomenon resulting from 200 years of immersion in the Southern culture of violence, and carried
out of the South with the great migration in the first half of the 20th century. This hypothesis thus
bridges the gap between these two subcultures, which until recently were treated as wholly distinct

Thanksgiving Tradition Analysis
For families across the United States, Thanksgiving is a holiday to come together with family and
loved ones to celebrate the good things life has to offer. Before analyzing my own family s
Thanksgiving celebration, I thought that our type of festivities were normal to most families. While
some of the traditions of the holiday say something about our society as a whole, I was also able to
view the implicit meanings of my family s specific actions. This analysis made me realize that while
our society is attempting to move forward and break norms, they are still heavily present within our
everyday subconscious actions. Although I am grateful I was able to come to this realization, it

Although I was well versed and knowledgeable on the topic due to my studies in Design this quarter, I
chose to not speak up and join the debate because I did not view myself on the same level as both my

powerful than them. This depicts how power and dominance allows for hierarchy, even within
families. The conversations that I engaged in were also less intellectually stimulating, with my family
mostly asking about how college was, rather than my opinions on deeper matters. This shows that
even their treatment of me as the youngest reiterates the implicit hierarchical structure. The different
treatment between older members of my family and me is similar to George Gmelch s piece,

The people of higher economic and social status in this piece treat their friends of lower status and

The Rise Of Ludwig Van Beethoven
The rise of Ludwig van Beethoven into the ranks of history s greatest composers was paralleled by
and in some ways a consequence of his own personal tragedy and despair. Beginning in the late 1790
s, the increasing buzzing and humming in his ears sent Beethoven into a panic, searching for a cure
from doctor to doctor. By October 1802 he had written the Heiligenstadt Testament confessing the
certainty of his growing deafness, his consequent despair, and suicidal considerations. Yet, despite the
personal tragedy caused by the infirmity in the one sense which ought to be more perfect in [him] than
in others, a sense which [he] once possessed in the highest perfection, a perfection such as few in [his]
profession enjoy, it also served as a motivating force in that it challenged him to try and conquer the
fate that was handed him. He would not surrender to that jealous demon, my wretched health before
proving to himself and the world the extent of his skill. Thus, faced with su!ch great impending loss,
Beethoven, keeping faith in his art and ability, states in his Heiligenstadt Testament a promise of his
greatness yet to be proven in the development of his heroic style. By about 1800, Beethoven was
mastering the Viennese High Classic style. Although the style had been first perfected by Mozart,
Beethoven did extend it to some degree. He had unprecedently composed sonatas for the cello which

best Olympic athletes. This training regime consisted of high aerobic training during the beginning of
the season, and transitioning into a anaerobic style approaching the start of the big race. Dr. Raynolds
had many exclusive training methods to get his dogs in shape such as tying them to a large wheel; like
a carousel you might find at an amusement park. His endurance training consisted of long rides on his

Worn Path Symbolism
In the short story A Worn Path, by Eudora Welty, Phoenix Jackson is a small old lady that is
overcoming the obstacles of life. She is figuring out that life has many different encounters to
overcome. Welty describes the physical and emotional encounters Jackson meets on her journey to
town and life. Welty describes how the character Jackson is a courageous woman that endures many
things through life, Welty also uses symbolism to show the true challenges that Jackson faces. Welty
uses symbols of nature numerous of times throughout the story.
First off, Phoenix Jackson is an old Negro woman, who faces the obstacles of life. She has troubles on
her path through town and life. She begins her path through the pinewoods. The path is like a
microcosm of a person s whole life. Sometimes things can be easy, and sometimes things can be hard.
Phoenix runs into obstacles which are harder than other. Life has many elements; some many be
dangerous, surprising, beautiful, and confusing. Phoenix Jackson faces some problems with her
memory. Up through pines, she said at length. Now down through the oaks. (Welty A Worn Path ).
Through the story Welty uses the trees as a symbol of wisdom, strength, and endurance. The trees help
to tie the idea of the cycle of life and death. The cones dropped as light as feathers. (Welty A Worn
Path ). Sometimes through life things begin to fall down and sometimes things begin to rebuild itself
higher. Just like a tree loses its leaves and

How Legionnaire s Disease Is An Important Public Health...
Introduction
Legionnaire s disease is an important public health problem that can cause substantial morbidity and
mortality.1 This bacterial infection is caused primarily by the gram negative bacteria, Legionella
pneumophila, found in freshwater environments throughout the world. 2, 3
Legionnaires disease was initially described in 1976, after a major respiratory outbreak among
attendees of an American Legion convention.4 L. pneumophila causes a severe inflammatory
pneumonia that primarily affects susceptible patients as a result of advanced age, underlying
debilitating conditions or immunosuppression.5 Environmental risk factors such as cooling towers or
water systems in buildings, including hospitals have been reported as main sources ... Show more

11Macrolides, doxycycline, and quinolones are the most commonly prescribed effective antibiotics,
and preventive measures have been widely adopted in public and private institutions. 12
Public health efforts have largely focused on the identification of outbreaks of legionellosis, followed
by investigation and source control. The recent outbreak in the city of New York has emphasized the
need to recognize Legionnaires disease as a common community and hospital acquired pneumonia.
Health care workers should have a high clinical suspicion of L. pneumophila in any patient with
unexplained pneumonia and risk factors for Legionnaire s disease. Routine testing has been
discouraged for all outpatients with community acquired pneumonia and further testing should be
assessed on a case by case basis. This review summarizes the epidemiology, pathogenesis, diagnosis
and management of Legionnaires disease. A better understanding of the risks associated with
Legionnaires disease would allow state and local entities to better target preventive measures and
improve clinician awareness.
Epidemiology
Almost 40 years ago, Legionella pneumophila was initially recognized as the cause of a major
respiratory outbreak among attendees of an American Legion convention at a hotel in Philadelphia.4
Since the first description of Legionnaire s disease, surveillance schemes have been implemented in
several countries including the United

Taking a Look at Progeria
Infirmed aging is having a condition of weakness or illness that usually lasts for a long time and is
caused especially by old age. Progeria is the severe disease of the infirmed aging branch and is
defined as a progressive genetic disorder that causes children to age rapidly, beginning in their first
two years of life. Progeria only affects one in eight million people in the world. The term Progeria is
gathered from the Greek word geras, meaning old age. Children with progeria usually don t show any
signs when they are birthed but in a year or so their growth rate starts to slow down. Children who are
affected by progeria develop a non identical appearance characterized by baldness, a small pinched
nose, and a small face and jaw relative ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Every moment, second, minute, hour, and day go by you get older. You cannot stop aging no matter
what you do. It is something that everything that lives does.
The older you get the more medical problems you have. The older you get the more you body starts to
break down. That s why it is so important to maintain a healthy life style while you are growing. If
you didn t take care of your body while you was young it will be hard to maintain good health when
you are older. Eating the right foods, staying active, and taking vitamins are three simple steps to
keeping the body in good shape. When you are young you do want to live in the moment, but that is
only because it is human nature. You are supposed to learn from you mistakes while you are taking
chances each day. If you want your body to age healthy you already know what you have to do.
It takes an older person a long time to build their immune system as well as heal bones like younger
people. Because of the aging of the body when an old person fall it takes longer to recover and some
older people don t recovery from their falls. Which leaves them handicap and people would have to
check up on them daily. Older people have more things to worry such as getting around on their on,
having medical bills all the time, and feeling lonely. Infirmed again has a lot to do with the mental,
emotional, and physical

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Interest Based Finance
Introduction of mode of financing
Islamic banks use a number of non interest based finance modes. The use of a mode is dependent on
the nature, purpose and size of transactions. In selecting the modes, it is very much the know how and
knowledge of the Islamic banker which comes into play. These modes could be classified as debt type
instruments, quasi debt type Instruments, profit and loss sharing or hybrid instruments.
Debt type instruments involve Murabahah, Salam, Istisna a, Tawarruq and Qard Hasan. Murabahah is
a particular kind of sale, where the seller expressly mentions the cost he has incurred on the
commodities to be sold and sells it to another person by adding some profit or mark up thereon which

In the context of business, it refers to a joint enterprise in which partners (or parties) to the enterprise
share the profit and loss ratio of the enterprise. Musharakah has far reaching implications for Islamic
banking and finance in the modern context and providing excellent alternative to the interest based
economy.
In a Musharakah, the party investing the capital shares equally in both the profit and loss ratio, which
is different from an interest based system where the upside is limited while the downside is very
nearly non existent.
Basic Rules of Musharakah
1. Profit distribution
The ratio of profit for each partner must be determined in proportion to the actual profit arises to the
business and not in proportion to the capital invested by him. For example if it is agreed between them
that A will get 1% of his investment, the contract is not

How Loss And Death Affect The Lyric And Sonnet
This source discussed the sonnet and lyric (the basis of my project.) It states that a lyric is the genre of
internal and individualized emotions. It s seen as a moment of personal experience. (33) The
traditional emotion that is associated with the sonnet is love. Both the lyric and the sonnet are
connected with song and music. I want to go more in depth on how loss and death can affect the lyric
and sonnet as well, without going into elegy land. This source was very informative on the basics of a
sonnet and a lyric such as how the sonnet has a twist and the lyric is more problematic than one would
think. What more goes into a lyric then? (MAYBE) The approach this source is taking is showing the
ways a sonnet represents and doesn t represent a lyric. How exactly are they different and the same?
Sonnets are a lyric because of the emotional base put into them. It mentions that in the Romantic
peiord, sonnets were not blank verse and strayed from the conventional form. They used everyday
language. That brings up the question as to how did that incorporate into Keats sonnets? This source
also begs the question, which I agree with, who determines when something is a lyric or a sonnet?
(28) The lyric was something that could be private or social. What made a sonnet more intimate
between reader and poet (though many sonnets were published in newspapers, especially during the
Romantic period.) The length can prove to be a problem for sonnets is an issue that this source

American Sphinx Thomas Jefferson Sparknotes
American Sphinx: The character of Thomas Jefferson
A book by Joseph J. Ellis.
Copyright 1997 Vintage.
Joseph J. Ellis, a historian who was educated at the College of William and Mary and Yale, is a Ford
Foundation Professor of History at Mount Holyoke University. He has written four books on historical
topics, centered on the time Jefferson was alive, dealing with issues and personalities Jefferson dealt
with firsthand. After authoring a book on a politician such as John Adams, Ellis seems to have felt a
need or want to focus on Jefferson, presumably because of his status as founding father and main
contributor to the constitution.

This trait in Ellis s writing and teaching style is what really grabbed me and got me interested in the
book. How wise is the person who realizes that as scholarly as they may be, there may always be a
better opinion out there? Joseph has presented to me a most noble way to write. He has circumvented
my prejudice against authors who insist that their ideas and methods are the only thoughts that exist.
In terms of the presentation of information, Ellis pieced together the life and work of Jefferson
according to eras, or phases in the life of Thomas J. Starting with Philadelphia 1775 1776, Jefferson s
story begins as the prominent, educated young man entering a world of radical politicians and
commoners striving for their independence. This chapter describes how Jefferson established himself
as an excellent literary figure in the developing American insurrection by publishing a pamphlet
entitled, A summary view of the rights of British America. This document, though never officially
accepted as a plan of action was simple and emphatic, with a dramatic flair that that previewed certain
passages in the Declaration of Independence (e.g., Single acts of tyranny may be ascribed to the
accidental opinion of the day; but a series of oppressions, begun at a distinguished period, and pursued
unalterably thro every change of ministers, too plainly prove a deliberate, systematical plan of
reducing us to slavery ). [Pg. 34] As the text

is hit a baseball. Some of you may disagree with this statement. However all hitting coaches will
preach to square up the round baseball with the round bat. Some of you may be saying to yourselves
that does not sound to hard. How are you suppose to square up two round objects? This just doesn t
make since.Secondly not only is it hard enough to hit a fastball when you are ten years old just starting

Kolb s Cycle Of Experiential Learning
Kolb s Cycle of Experiential Learning
I have always believed that we learn by our own experiences. I think that this belief that I have lived
by is why I was so intrigued by this particular learning theory. I will be discussing Kolb s Cycle of
Experiential Learning. I will explain the definition of this particular type of learning style and how it
explains how as an individual one learns. I will be describing the four different stages of Kolb s
learning cycle and Kolb s four different learning styles. I will also discuss how this learning style will
essentially help me with lifelong learning beyond my BAAS degree in a personal and professional
manner.
David Kolb is an educational theorist that helped develop the Experiential Learning Model in the early
1970 s it was then published in 1984. The basic assumption for Kolb s cycle is that this type of
learning is built on the idea that a person s preference of learning can be described with two different
levels: a four stage cycle of learning and four types of learning styles. He defines that learners
experience a cycle of experiences, these experiences then lead to reflections, and we then take these
experiences and build upon them to create new experiences. In Kolb s Cycle of Experiential Learning
theory he states Learning is the process whereby knowledge is created through the transformation of
experience (Kolb, 1984, p. 38). What I enjoyed about Kolb s Cycle of Experiential Learning method is
that not only does it let one

Argumentative Speech About Hawaiians
How are you doing? I m doing okay. I m sorry for not sending you a letter sooner, but the days have
been super busy lately. I have gotten ill on the journey to Hawaii, but luckily the illness went away
shortly after we arrived. My body figure has noticeably gotten skinnier from my usual buff posture
because of famine during the voyage. I also haven t been able to trim my hair, so now it is very long
and untamable. He seems to be quite fond of us and our mission. I am currently sheltered in a hotel
room provided by the king himself, Liholiho. Most of the Hawaiians have taken a liking to our way of
life, too. They are quite peculiar. Can you believe that the Hawaiians wear loincloths and mini dresses
on the daily? I find that to be very obnoxious and offensive. I thought that it was blatant knowledge to
not show skin. Some Hawaiians, however, have tried to protest against us. Maybe they re just biased.
We ll convert them soon enough. Regardless, I just wanted to inform you that so far, our mission to
convert the Hawaiians has been going quite well. Their economy is a lot different from the economy
that we have back in England. First of all, the Hawaiians don t have many schools. Our teachers and
some of the missionaries are working with the Hawaiians to try and get schools created. Second of all,
the Hawaiians have a kapu system, which is pretty similar to our law system, but theirs is a lot more
strict. Isn t it ridiculous how one of their kapu states that men and women

It could be the indoor regulator. In the event that the issue is with the indoor regulator, you re fortunate
that is typically a much less expensive fix than the heater.
Once you ve affirmed that the heater is not the issue, there are a few things you can do to investigate
all alone before calling a repairman. On the off chance that those don t work, then it s an ideal
opportunity to enlist a jack of all trades or HVAC expert to repair or supplant the gadget.
(Kompareit.com, 2016)
Broken indoor regulator can bring about amazing temperature swings, a heater that cycles on and off

swing it to the inverse setting (in case you re utilizing the warmth, turn the indoor regulator the
distance to cool) or simply turn the temperature far up. On the off chance that nothing happens
following a couple of minutes, the indoor regulator is broken or defective. (Home Guides | SF Gate,

Trial and error was the focus for forging a successful mission s launch vehicle and spacecraft. Sadly,
after setback of a launch fire that killed three training astronauts, Apollo 7, yielded the first success in
systems and structure on October 1968. 9:32 A.M. at Kennedy Space Center. Subsequently,
Armstrong, Buzz, and Michael Collins launched Apollo 11 and entered lunar orbit on July 19th, 1969.
In fact, upon landing Apollo 11 on the surface of the moon, Armstrong radioed Mission Control and
relayed another famous phrase, The Eagle has landed. These four words signified a successful moon
landing. At the height of a growing conspiracy, a television camera that was attached to the spacecraft
captured Armstrong s progress down the module s ladder. Buzz joined Armstrong a few minutes later
where they spent the night on the surface of the moon, constructing the American flag, as well as, a

Skeptics of the success of Apollo 11 claim the appearance of the American flag waves in the lunar
wind as shown in pictures brought back to Earth as their proof that the flag was never planted. While
the debunkers of the Apollo missions would be correct that a flag erected on the moon s surface would

Women sacrifice as much as men, for example after giving birth they make impressive efforts to come
back to competitive levels while men have not been said to make any of these such efforts. This leads
to another point on how women actually have the ability to do things most men can t. For example,
men don t have the proper body types to perform in figure skating, synchronized swimming, or
gymnastics like women can. The competitiveness is the same. The quality and skill levels are the
same. Different, of course, but not inferior in any way (Ottoway). Even if a female was better than a
male at a certain sport they would still be treated as inferior. For example a female hockey player,
Rachel Fradette states, even if I was a better athlete than the male hockey players, my team still got
the worse ice time and treated as almost a joke when we practiced...women not only have to fight for
their stance, but they also have to be the absolute best at their craft (Fradette). When girls get treated
this way they then start to lose the love of the sport which leads to less and less role models and less
successful female athletes. These female athlete role models are important for future generations as
girls decide to also become athletes they want someone to look up to and learn from and realize to not
give up even if they are treated

  • 2. Nonpermanent Members Of The United Nations On October 24, 1945, the five victors of World War II assembled in San Francisco to draft a document called the Charter of the United Nations, which outlined the laws of the United Nations. This charter created six different branches of the UN. One of the six organs was the UN Security Council. The Security Council was assigned the task of ensuring that international peace and security is maintained. The SC consists of fifteen total members whom are also members of the United Nations. The Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, the Republic of China, the United States of America, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, and France act as the five permanent members of the United Nations because they were the original victors of the Second World War. The remaining ten nonpermanent members of the UN are elected by the General Assembly for a two year term. Each member of the UN Security Council is allowed only one representative. Diving more in depth about how the UNSC ensures that international peace and security is maintained, it is important to understand how the Security Council operates. The charter states that, the Security Council shall act in accordance with the purposes and principle of the United Nations. (Article 24) When it comes to the topic of voting, decisions of the Security Council procedural matters shall be made by an affirmative vote of nine members. • 3. Employee Benefit Issues In M A One of the many areas HR is an intricate partner in M A is to assist senior management with identifying and assessing legal risks. As part of the M A due diligence process, HR may be required to obtain information related to benefit and non benefit issues. Benefit issues such as severance and transfers of 401(k)s relate to compliance with the Employee Retirement Income Security Act and tax codes. Other benefit issues include union sponsored multi employer plans, defined benefit or defined contribution plans, etc. Non benefit issues include compliance with legal requirements, such as I 9 and visa regulations, the Family and Medical Leave Act, and wage and hour regulations. In part, the people impact can be understood in financial terms (e.g., annual payroll, outstanding retirement obligations, pending employment claims). Financial terms, however, are only a part of the impact of human capital. Perhaps the more significant impact of human capital is the difference people make in the value of the company. Some areas by which HR can be an effective partner in this area is by accessing risk with (i) the track record and prospects for the research development team, (ii) the nature and quality of the customer relationships with the sales team, and (iii) the experiences and perceptions the employees hold about the management team. All of these areas require human capital due diligence far beyond financial statements (Kompare, 2016). To mitigate the risk assessment of the people , HR can use a standard set of due diligence materials such as comprehensive data requests, reporting templates, detailed cost models, cultural assessment tools, and interview guides. Such materials help to ensure a consistent approach to due diligence, while providing resources for less experienced members of the due diligence ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In other words, a true leader communicates his aspirations and creates a shared passion for a common objective. In order to be effective, a leader must first believe in his vision so as to be able to convey his thoughts to others and consequently convince them of the importance of his idea. They brought us together and they gave us a sense of national purpose. BIOGRAPHY Born on September 18, 1971 in Plano Texas, Lance Armstrong began his athletic career by taking part at the age of 13 in athletic activities such as triathlon. When he turned 16, Lance focused on cycling, what would later become his passion and point of recognition to the world. Four years later Lance won the National Amateur Cycling Championship and in 1993 he won the Pro Cycling Tour s Triple Crown, a major cycling event in the States. At the Olympic Games of 1996, he suffered from fatigue and bronchitis disappointing his fans by finishing in the twelfth place. The weariness he felt and the illnesses he suffered were justified later that year when he was diagnosed with cancer. When the diagnosis was made, Lance was already at the third and final stage of testicular cancer, where cancer had already spread in his lungs and brain. Five months after the diagnosis Lance began training again and in 1998 he returned to racing, sponsored by the U.S. Postal Service. During his two year absence, Lance created the Lance Armstrong Foundation. It was trough the foundation that Lance met his future wife, Kristin Richard with which he has tree children. In 1999, just three years after his treatment for cancer, Lance won the Tour de France, leading the entire race and proving to the world his renewed capabilities. In 2001, Armstrong was given a clean bill of health which meant that during

  • 6. Reconstruction Dbq Essay Reconstruction DBQ After the Civil War, the era of reconstruction was a time for America to try restructure and rebuild itself. To the United States demise, not much was actually reconstructed nor bettered concerning the lives of American citizens. The main cause of a somewhat failed attempt at reconstruction was the South, also known as the Confederates. Due to their recession towards slavery and dehumanization of African Americans, the South was the killer of reconstruction. The most prominent cause of the Civil War regarded the treatment of African Americans. The North fought to end slavery and consider blacks equal to whites and on the contrary, the South fought to continue slavery and keep the traditional practices used considering the treatment of blacks. Finishing victorious, the North tried their best to enforce humane treatment towards African Americans yet the South merely pushed these laws to the side. Consequently, the South came up with their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Due to the cycle in which workers would be constantly bombarded with large amounts of debt, they had no other choice then to keep working and try to stabilize their finances. With the little amount of necessities given, these workers were essentially held as slaves. Adding to the economic issues regarding sharecropping, farmers would usually have to give up around 50 to 60% of their harvested crop leaving them poor and resourceless (Document B). Another way that the South killed reconstruction was through voting practices. Confederates would violently force blacks into voting for southern representatives and if they were strong enough to disregard their threats, it wasn t uncommon that they would later be beaten, whipped, and attacked. I will be using Gibbs model of reflection, from Gibbs, G. (1988). For confidentiality purposes, I will name my family member as Estelita who is a fifty five year old female. DESCRIPTION Estelita was experiencing shortness of breath and chest pain. She called an ambulance, whereby a FRU car arrived, followed by a backup ambulance crew. The FRU responder performed a primary survey on Estelita, after which she was transported to the nearest hospital by the backup crew who made her walk to the ambulance at the start of the journey and on her arrival at A E. Von Essen (1994) opposed the view that patients placed interpersonal aspects of caring as more important than care tasks. Interestingly, patients made few comments about technical excellence of health care professionals. Halldorsdottir and Hamrin s (1997) study found that patients emphasised the importance of professional competence over interpersonal aspects of care . I think that as patients or family members, we automatically assume our health carers are technically competent and I felt that a more humanistic approach would not have exacerbated an already distressing situation. Thorne (1988) reported that patients perceived that communication with health care professionals was important in enhancing care quality. CONCLUSION The doctor found Estelita s symptoms to be attributed to her condition Fibromyalgia which Wallace, Daniel J. (2003) states is a form of soft tissue rheumatism. A complaint was sent to the ambulance service regarding the crew s conduct and a letter of apology was received. ACTION PLAN In my future paramedic career, I will adhere to the HPC standard of conduct at all times and try to continue the chain of care until I handover my patient. Unlike the backup crew, I will try to remain professional at all times even though I might be faced by time, social and work pressures. REFERENCES Danielson C.B., Hamel Bissell B. Although it is only a four page article, Freedman effectively uses the three main rhetorical techniques of pathos, ethos, and logos. By appealing to all aspects of the readers analytical senses, this helps Freedman strongly portray his message for justice in the sports community for not only black athletes, but for anyone of any race or background. Right away Samuel Freedman uses pathos in his article to appeal to the audience s emotions. After including the counterclaim from Douglas Hartmann, Freedman quickly refutes its accuracy by saying, The reality is that modern American sports have always been political. Segregation was reified by all white baseball and football leagues(3). Freedman then proceeds to talk about some of the most acclaimed athletes of all time such as Jackie Robinson, Bill Russell, Jim Brown, and Kareem Abdul Jabbar. He mentions how all of these athletes are in the hall of fame in their respected sports. It is important to note that Ray Lewis will also be enshrined into the National Football Hall of Fame in August, and he too took a political stand. The logic being exemplified here is that all the athletes listed above were some of the best ever at what they did. This white stardom did not stop them from risking it all by fighting for equality for people of all backgrounds. This calls out white America for its immoral treatment of not only Ray Lewis, but any other athlete that is fighting for justice for all. Each has its strengths and weaknesses and adds to our understanding of human behaviour. Over the years there have been various significant developments in psychology, and new schools have developed which try to fill the gaps of previous approaches and offer a new perspective. The timeline could be traced from Structuralism (Wundt, 1879), which was the first school of thought. Some theories are concerned about the generation of emotions; some are concerned about effects of such emotions on individual s actions and behaviours while some are concerned about the links between emotions and actions. One such theory is Structuralism. Known as the first school of Psychology, Structuralism has been developed by Wilhelm Wundt and Edward Titchener. Wilhelm Wundt in 1879, founded the first psychological laboratory in Leipzig, Germany. He is known as the father of Structuralism (Dobson and Bruce 1972). Structuralism is primarily based on Elementalism (Alfred Korzybski, 1950) which suggests a conception of complex phenomena regarding essential parts or elements. Structuralism is a theory of consciousness. For there are situations in which we feel sure that we know something, even though if asked to give a good argument to back up our claim we are at a loss to know quite how to do so. I know you re the person I spoke to on the bus yesterday. I know I have two hands. I know it is wrong to let that child starve. I know that six minus four leaves two. By defining intuition in this way Donovan is treating it as a possibly genuine way to gain knowledge, distinct from intellectual argument. Finally, Donovan asks the question, are there such things as intuitions in religious matters too? This is his key question. Given that he accepts that intuition works on some level he wants to know whether it can be extended to also work on matters of religion, such as whether God exists and if so, what he is like. Donovan wants to explore whether religious experience can be a basis for intuitive knowledge of God. This is unlike Swinburne s argument from religious experience where the conclusion God exists is deduced from premises. Instead it is not an argument at all, but an immediate apprehension of knowledge of God from experience of God. These are the three key aspects of Donovan s argument in the above passage. Whilst there are no secondary points to explain the section does link to several key debates in the philosophy of religion. Firstly, in discussing whether religious intuition exists Donovan is contributing to the debate over whether God exists. In addition to philosophers such as Swinburne and Paley, Donovan is offering the possibility of an alternative way to gain objective knowledge of God/that he exists ... Subcultures are not entirely different from a larger culture to which they re surrounded.
