Should Therapeutic Cloning Be Banned
There are two sides to the topic of cloning. One side believes it is unethical and should be banned.
The other side believes the benefits and possibilities outweigh the problems. The two most
controversial types of artificial cloning are reproductive cloning, and therapeutic cloning.
Reproductive cloning is the use of cells from a host to create a whole new genetic copy.
Therapeutic cloningis the use of embryonic stem cells to create tissue to replace damaged tissue
and whole organs. The ethical concerns with cloning didn t become a problem until Dolly, the
sheep, was created. Many years before Dolly very similar experiments were being performed;
however, those experiments did not spark much public concern regarding cloning. Over fifty years

Animal protection agencies are questioning the many health problems that come with cloning. As
mentioned before, cloning causes many problems in the cloned animal and the host mother.
People that are against cloning also bring up the costs of cloning. For example the cloning of a
deceased pet may cost upwards of a hundred thousand dollars. However, most of the controversy
with cloning is the ethical side of cloning. Many religious groups believe that scientists are playing
God by producing unfertilized embryos(Hinrichs). They believe that certain areas, such as the
creation of life, should be left up to divine control. People may find that therapeutic cloning could
be found unethical and controversial, because of its possible use as alternate

Animal Protection And Breed-Discriminatory Laws
Best Friends opposes breed discriminatory legislation (also called breed specific legislation,
BSL), which arbitrarily targets particular breeds. Breed discriminatory laws are not only
ineffective at improving community safety, they are extremely expensive to enforce and deplete
needed resources from animal control. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) (click
above for direct link) A CDC study on fatal dogbites lists the breeds involved in fatal attacks over
20 years (Breeds of dogs involved in fatal humanattacks in the United States between 1979 and
1998). It does not identify specific breeds that are most likely to bite or kill, and thus is not
appropriate for policy making decisions related to the topic. Each year, 4.7... Show more content on

Restrictions from outright bans to requirements for confinement, insurance, and spay and neuter
often follow incidents in which a breed and its crosses are implicated in aggressive incidents or
dog fighting or other criminal activity. Such limits cause the death of many well behaved pets and
rob law abiding pet owners of their rights to choose a breed or mix and responsibly own or
maintain a pet or working dog without government interference. NAIA supports nuisance
ordinances and dangerous dog laws to protect the community against unruly or dangerous dogs and
irresponsible dog owners. NAIA supports sentences for violation of dog confinement and nuisance
laws that include mandatory attendance at a basic obedience training class. AKC dog obedience
clubs have provided such classes for the general public for decades and, together with private
trainers, they represent a well established community resource for courts dealing with dog related
offenses. International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants (click above for direct link)

The First Japanese Dive Bombers
At 0755 the first Japanese dive bombers appeared over Hickam Field as well as Ford Island with
seconds between the two. Enemy torpedo planes and dive bombers swung in from various
sectors to concentrate their attack on the heavy ships moored in Pearl Harbor. This was the
beginning on the attack which would last for several hours destroying much of the Navy s
Pacific Fleet. The Empire of Japan surprised the US with the intention of crippling the country s
defenses, destroy the Pacific Fleet. Crippling America so they wouldn t be able to fight back as
Japan s armed forces spread across the South Pacific. On December 7, after months of planning
and practice, the Japanese launched their attack. On this day we lost more than 2,500 people
wounded at least 1,000 more. Of the ships 18 was lost and or damaged and the largest death toll
was from the USS Arizona where half of the casualties occurred. According to the US Navy s
after action report of the day 7 December, 1941 With the dropping of the first bombs on Ford
Island, Commander Patrol Wing TWO, at 0758, broadcast the warning to Al Ships Present: AIR
RAID, PEARL HARBOR. THIS IS NOT DRILL! A similar message from the Commander in
Chief followed a few minutes later.(NAVY) At 0730 the first wave of attacks which consisted of
torpedoes and dive bombers flew threw a dead zone in between the mountains of Oahu when the

International Governmental Organizations And Organizations
Introduction Other names for intergovernmental companies are international governmental
organizations or intergovernmental organizations. These are organizations that are primarily made
up of the sovereign state that are termed as member states. They may also be made up other
intergovernmental organizations. Intergovernmental companies/intergovernmental organizations
are usually referred to as international organizations; however, the definition may also cover
international non governmental organizations (Taninchev, 2015). Some examples of international
non governmental organizations are multinational corporations and international non profit
organizations. When it comes to public international law, intergovernmental companies turn out to
be an important aspect. These organizations are created by treaty. The treaty acts as a charter that
makes up the group. During the formation of treaties, governments of many states (lawful
representatives) undergo the process of ramification. This process of ramification gives the
intergovernmental companies an international legal personality. In a legal sense, intergovernmental
companies need to be distinguished from simple coalition or grouping of states, such as the Quartet
or G8. Simple coalitions or grouping have not been created by a constituent document. They are
only present as task groups. There is also a big difference between intergovernmental organizations
and treaties. A number of treaties that are usually made do not create

Praise
Professional practice rewards and sanctions essay The use of praise within the primary
classroom I will use this essay to analyse the effective and destructive often harmful use of praise
as a reward system within the primary classroom. Firstly it is important to explain what a reward
system actually is in terms of a primary classroom. According to the Universal Dictionary,
(1998); a reward is something given or received in recompense for worthy behaviour . A reward
system therefore, is a system adopted by either a class teacher, adult or as a whole school ethos
for the delivery of rewards for positive academic or social behaviour during the school day. From
experience, the reward scheme does not have to finish at the end of the... Show more content on

Furthermore, as the earlier ratios imply, reprimands can be far more damaging to a child s self
esteem and academic confidence then even over use of praise. If reprimands are used too often
this could possibly lead to children becoming disengaged with learning and also foster lack of
self belief within children. Teachers need to be consistent with their approach to praise.
According to Cowley, S (2001) there are basic rules to behaviour management which includes
consistency as well as others... Be definite I know what I want. Be aware I know what will
happen if I don t get what I want. Be calm and consistent I am always fair and consistent with you.
Give them structure I know where we re going. Be positive you re doing great! These rules, when
applied to the classroom environment along with goal setting to increase the chance for praise and
performance, will give teachers the opportunity to use praise effectively to manage behavioural
expectations and academic achievement within their classroom. In order to use praise effectively
however, there are other considerations that the teacher must apply to each individual class, and
undeniably each individual child. Conceivably the most important consideration is that children
need to want to receive praise. Without this need , praise is an ineffective reward. Potentially there
are various reasons why

Large Income Inequality In The United States
Imagine the cool, refreshing feeling of ice cold water colliding with the dusty, dry caked layer
of your mouth for the first time after a strenuous day of working in the heat. At your construction
job, you and 89 fellow laborers worked on completing the final floor in a sixteen story building
project in Lower Manhattan. After you took a swig of water from the share of the entire worker
s cooler, you returned to the cooler for another small dixie cup round of water, but nothing came
out. Unsatisfied, you looked around for a cool libation to suppress the uncomfortable frustration
that started boiling inside of you in the hot, scorching midsummer blaze. You soon found a sense
of sympathy when you realized that the guy behind you in line did not even get a single drop of
water. In fact, out of the 90 workers, less than one third of you actually got a single cup of water.
After a few moments passed and the mental and physical stress started affecting your production,
you gazed off at the building adjacent to your site. You never really payed any attention to the
building for the last 8 months, but your eyes started to focus in on the actions of those inside it.

Reminiscences Of The Cuban Revolution Summary
The book, Reminiscences of the Cuban Revolution by Ernesto Che Guevara is a firsthand account
of the Cuban insurgency in the Sierra Maestra. Guevara s recollections about the revolution provide
important information about the challenges the rebels faced when they first landed in Cuba as well
as the diverse roles the peasantry played during the insurgency. Also, Che illustrates why the Cuban
army was unable to defeat the rebels and the advantages and limitations of waging guerrilla warfare
in the Sierra Maestra.
When the rebels landed in Cuba they faced many difficult challenges. The Granma Expedition
from Mexico took seven days and most of the men experienced severe seasickness as well as
constant hunger due to the lack of food onboard. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The rebels had superior knowledge about the geography of the Sierra Maestra, which allowed
them to stay off the army s radar until they were ready to attack. The insurgents also had
significantly less combatants and inferior weapons than the army so the Sierra Maestra, with its
numerous hiding places proved to be a perfect place to set up ambushes and made retreating
easy. Another advantage of fighting in the Sierra Maestra was the harsh weather. The enemy
soldiers were more concerned with the rain than with the possibility of an attack. The rain, cold
and mosquitos demoralized the army troops who were not used to living in such harsh conditions.
Also, Batista could never send his full army to crush the insurgency in the Sierra Maestra because
doing so would leave the cities vulnerable to other rebel groups looking to overthrow him.
However, waging guerilla warfare in the Sierra Maestra also had its limitations. The rebels had
limited manpower and firearms while the army had thousands of soldiers and top notch weaponry
provided by the United States. Guerilla warfare in the Sierra Maestra also limited the rebels ability
to have influence in Havana where other rebel groups such as the Revolutionary Directorate
operated. Another limitation of guerilla warfare in the Sierra Maestra was the inability to attack
and occupy major cities such as Havana and Santa Clara, which would have sped up the

Sir John Alexander Macdonald Essay examples
Sir John A. Macdonald was one of Canada s founding fathers. He is most remembered as being

conservative town, so when Macdonald entered politics he therefore joined the Conservative
Party. In 1843 Macdonald was elected an alderman in Kingston, then in 1844 he won an election
giving him a seat in the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Canada. The members of the
Assembly quickly recognized Macdonald?s political abilities, resulting in him being made
Receiver General in 1844 for the Conservative Government. This position gave him a seat on the
Executive Council in the Province of Canada. The Conservative government of William Draper
was defeated a year later so for the next few years Macdonald assisted in the rebuilding of the
Conservative Party. ( Macdonald, Sir )
Macdonald felt the key to Canada?s success, as a country, would rely on its connection to its
mother country, Britain. Macdonald showed these feelings in his first address to the electors:
I therefore need scarcely state my firm belief that the prosperity
of Canada depends upon its permanent connection with the mother country, and that I shall resist to
the utmost any attempt (from whatever quarter it may come) which may tend to weaken that
union. ( Macdonald, Sir John ) True to her promise, Isabella Clark came to Canada during the
summer of 1843. Macdonald and Clark hit it off during the summer and thus got married

In some states there are provisions that will not honor living wills pertaining to pregnant women.
Case in point, Marlise Mun Мѓoz from Texas was found unconscious at home by her husband, at
the time Mrs. Mun Мѓoz was 14 weeks pregnant. A few days later it was determined that Mrs. Mun
Мѓoz was brain dead. Although Marlise had advance directives in place, because of laws in the
state of Texas, physicians denied the woman in question requests not to receive life sustaining
treatment due to the pregnancy. Therefore, be sure to ask several questions and gain complete
clarity on this subject. When one decides to write their own living will, it can be incredibly
detailed or as simple as the individual desire. As a result, there are forms developed by one s
state that assist in creating living wills. These forms have many options listed to help an
individual devise a clear and precise document revealing one s end of life requirements. Haman

living will form: Including coverage for a persistent vegetative state, even if the person s condition
is not terminal; Specifying which medical procedures you do not want; Determining the use of
artificial nutrition and hydration (i.e., the use of gastric tubes and intravenous feeding); Stating that
you do want life prolonging procedures; and, Having spaces for you to write

Is the story Daughters of the late Colonel more comic than tragic for the reader overall? Be sure to
comment on Mansfield s use of language. The story Daughters of the late Colonel , written by
Katherine
Mansfield takes place during Victorian times, based around two sister s whose father had recently
died. Mansfield describes the struggles of these two women as they try to express their femininity
and overcome the barriers of etiquette and the presence of their father, whom they feared. The story
ends as the sisters Josephine and
Constantia attempt to break free of their suppressed world but fail to, thus ending the story in
tragedy. Despite this the path leading to the tragic ending is riddled in humorous moments.

Another section which is both humorous as well as pitiable at the same time can be seen during the
time when Nurse Andrews comes by to visit, but eats all their butter:
Nurse Andrews was simply fearful about butter... She had that maddening habit of asking for just an
inch more bread to finish what she had on her plate, and then, at the last mouthful, absent mindedly
of course it wasn t absent mindedly taking another helping
This entire section is written in Josephine s voice, and thus allows the reader to view her opinion
on Nurse Andrews. fearful is not very commonly used for such situations, and sounds amusing to
the reader.
This is also seen through the repetition of absent mindedly as well as the use of dashes which
allows the reader to visualize Josephine snapping at the gesture. However, even though she is
pictured like this Josephine is unable to stop Nurse Andrews in real life. She merely got very red
when this happened, and she fastened her small, bead like eyes on the table cloth . This again
highlights the dismal state the women are in though they are the masters of the house, a common
nurse is able to dominate them, while the sisters are too weak to do anything against her.
However, this comical moment also highlights a more serious, tragic point about the sisters. The
word fearful is a pun; it also highlights the fact that Josephine is fearful that Nurse Andrew will
take all their butter, as it is

The media wants to take on death coverage in the military. Death is a very newsworthy story
despite its obscenity and gruesomeness. Death is the tragedy most Americans, without family in the

Society builds their own truths, and what they want to consider is good or bad, but it is this own
dichotomy of good and bad that is actually causing self harm to society. This mindset simplifies
our own thinking because we are limiting ourselves to an either or basis and do not focus on the
grey area between good and bad, because our reality is never just black and white; these are just
generic terms. In hindsight, the problems that we see today are a result of the detrimental and
lethal effects of the choices that our past presidents have made on the lives of people of color
abroad and within the United States. It is you who has the power to vote for a presidential

The Pros and Cons of Homework Essay
Homework: Does it Help, or Harm Us? When a class is almost over and a teacher starts assigning
homework, every student s heart drops. When students have an excess of homework, they do not
do as well. Even though homework is a good tool to help teachers teach students subjects, teachers
should give less homeworkbecause too much homework causes mental health issues in students
and less homework helps improve test scores. The first reason teachers should give students less
homework is that it takes away their childhood. When a student goes to school for seven hours a
day, and then goes home to three hours of homework, they do not get to be a kid. It is suggested
that student adopt an eight eight eight schedule. This schedule being eight... Show more content on

Assigning less homework in schools could reduce teen anxiety and teen depression rates (Kohn).
The next reason too much homework is harmful to students is that studies show more homework
to cause lower test scores. One to two hours of homework a week does not cause a major change
in test scores (Wolchover). There is no evidence of homework having any academic benefit in
elementary or middle school, and the academic benefit found in high school is very weak (Kohn).
Homework is not shown to help students academically until grades ten through twelve (Wolchover).
There is also no proof that homework increases good study habits in students (Kohn). On top of too
much homework making standardized test scores lower, much of this homework is just busy work
(Wolchover). Many teachers ask their student to re write pages in a textbook. This just causes the
student to spend time on something that has no real purpose. Remedial work has no positive
effect on students. It just takes up more time ( Too Much Homework Can Cause Stress,
Depression and Lower Grades, Studies Suggest ). Even homework that is useful in some way
should be limited. Studies show that a student s time is more useful when they play an instrument
or a sport. Parent s want their student to be good at many things. It is more important to be a well
rounded person than to ace all of your tests (Wolchover). One of the top

Rock And Roll And Conflict
For us to really reach an understanding when it comes to social conflict, it is first necessary to
recognize the creative forms of expression that arise from that conflict, the things that inspire and
that which is inspired. It is in these forms of creativity, in this case music, that the very core of
struggle is expressed in its raw and most honest form. Throughout the history of rock and rollthere
have been a countless number of artists that have brought forth social and cultural changes, that
had voices strong enough to stand above the crowd and send messages out to the masses. When

McQuarrie and Mick, 1996) do not adequately capture important differentiations within the visual
domain. After developing and illustrating the typology, we suggest avenues for empirical
investigation, specifying the particular cognitive processes that we expect to be differentially
affected by different categories of visual rhetorical figures. Among the more important contributions
of the typology is its demonstration of how concepts from art theory, semiotics and kindred
disciplines can be linked to concepts drawn from social cognition in a manner susceptible to
empirical study.
A typology of visual rhetorical figures
Defining visual rhetoric in ads
We follow McQuarrie and Mick (1996) in defining a rhetorical figure as an artful deviation in
form that adheres to an identifiable template. Thus, the headline Can t say no to pistachio is a
rhetorical figure because it deviates in its arrangement of sounds from an ordinary sentence.
However, readers do not consider this deviation to be an error because they have encountered this
kind of repetition of syllables many times and have learned to treat it as a rhyme. Similarly, when
readers encounter the verbal pun Why weight for success? in an ad for the Diet Center, they
understand it as a play on a word with two meanings (i.e. weight and wait ). Because the number of
templates is limited and because consumers encounter the same template over

Hybrid Cars And Hybrid Electric Vehicles
In the present generation where automobiles are very important in daily life, there is two types of
cars i.e. Gasoline vehicles and hybrid electric vehicles, hybrid electric cars which used quite a
while but not as much as their gasoline counterparts. The difference between these two cars is
mainly the Engine, tank, and the source on which the cars work. The hybrid electric vehicleis more a
computerized and electric version where it switch between running on gasoline and electricity.
Other than that major changes, these cars are fundamentally the same. The body and the
maneuvering design of these are fundamentally the same. Hybrid cars were few to come by when
they were initially introduced, but current climate change and pollution issues have encouraged
people to opt for the cleaner and greener version of the automobile. Although both kinds of
automobiles are being used, there are a lot of aspects where these automobiles can be differentiated.
A few comparisons between these two vehicles is stated below.
1.HISTORY:
a.Hybrid: This type of engine vehicles were invented in the 19th century but it came into market in
early 2000 and gained popularity in the 2005 from then on many started to use this type of vehicles.
b.Gasoline: This type of vehicles were invented in 1876 in Germany and the usage of these cars
was from 1882 and it is still very much in demand in the market for its features.

Indie and Alternative Rock Generation Z to Generation Y is fueled by indie/alternative rock.
These generations were raised during the beginning of alternative music. The style of indie and
alternative music helped form these generations and represent how they act today. Music affects
generations in every way possible. Generations Y and Z are very diverse compared to the other
generations. These generations could be more diverse because of the musicthat influenced them
throughout their lives. Alternative and Indie music began in the early 80 s and late 70 s. The rise
of Indie music was inspired by the underground punk rockscene. Alt/indie didn t become popular
until the 90 s because it was so underground and unheard of. The musicians were called
alternative because they were independent and unsigned artists. Today Indie rock is still not as
popular as mainstream artists. Alternative musicians stick to their roots and remain underground.
The future of alternative music is looking bright. With more artists making alternative music the
genre is becoming more popular. The sub genres of alternative and indie music is what truly
forms the genre as a whole. Indie rock is a term that represents artists who remain unsigned to
major record labels. Punk rock is very similar to indie rock but it is more intense. Grunge is a
genre that began in the 90 s and is a perfect combination of indie and punk rock bands. Grunge

Essay on Equality and Civil Rights
Democracy stresses the equality of all individuals and insists that all men are created equal.
Democracy does not persist on an equality of condition for all people or argue that all persons
have a right to an equal share of worldly goods. Rather, its concept of equality insists that all are
entitled to equality of opportunity and equality before the law. The democratic concept of equality
holds that no person should be held back for any such arbitrary reasons as those based on race,
color, religion, or gender. This concept of equality holds that each person must be free to
develop himself or herself as fully as he or she can or cares to and that each person should be
treated as the equal of all other persons by the law. We have come... Show more content on

Equality and Civil Rights is complex in nature that the 14th Amendment (Equal Protection
Clause) is the closest approach to a literal statement of equality, it declares: No State shall deny
to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws. The clause was originally
intended to benefit newly freed slaves. Over time, it has acquired a broader meaning. Today, it
forbids states and their local governments to draw unreasonable distinctions between classes of
persons. The equal rights amendment (ERA) was introduced in 1923. Their policy was for
protection of women and based largely on sexual stereotypes, which has been woven into the legal
fabric of American life. This protectionism has limited the freedom of women to compete with
men socially and economically on an equal footing. The movement to provide equal rights to
women advanced a step with the passage of the Equal Pay Act of 1963. That act required equal pay
for men and women doing similar work. On the other hand, to remove the restrictions of
protectionism, women needed equal opportunity for employment. They got it in the Civil Rights
Act of 1964 and later the legislation. The commitment that led to affirmative action programs
expanded opportunities for women, minorities, and those who are disabled.

The American School Counselor Association (ASCA) is the division of the American Counseling
Association (ACA) that supports the development of professional school counselors. It published
the ASCA National Model (2012), which provides a framework for a comprehensive school
counseling program that includes four quadrants: Foundation, Delivery, Management, and
Accountability. The National Model also offers a detailed account of the role, function, and
competencies of professional school counselors. It specifically addresses how the proper use of
professional school counselors and implementation of a comprehensive school counseling program

Additionally, research has been done that examines the perceptions of school counselor
effectiveness, as well as the usefulness of available supervision (Borders Usher, 1992; Henderson
Lampe, 1992). During a school counseling master s education program, there is ample supervision,
both on site and through the university, during the practicum and internship field experiences
(Peterson Deuschle, 2006; Studer Oberman, 2006). However, it has been noted that clinical
supervision of school counselors post graduation has not been utilized in the most effective way
(Linton Deuschle, 2006). Several studies have examined the reason behind the lack of effective
supervision within a school setting. Some researchers suggest that there is incongruence between
the daily tasks of school counselors and models of clinical supervision most often utilized (Luke,
Ellis, Bernard, 2011). There also appears to be limited research on whether school counselor
directors are being provided best practices methods of formal education and training for their
positions.
Although it is vital to continue to conduct research on the development of professional school
counselors, researchers must also allocate attention to explore what resources are needed to educate
and train a school counselor director to the standards set forth by ASCA and to determine whether
opportunities currently exist to receive this education and training.

Neoliberalism Analysis
Neoliberalism ideas often criticize government planning, and neoliberal policy supporters such as
Hayek explicitly expresses his worries in Road to Serfdom that planning is harmful to the
democracy. He argues that not only will the goal of planning never be achieved, but the planning
will also become unstoppable and thus ends with authoritarian power in the government. Therefore,
deregulation and competition are believed to be associated with fair market and liberalization.
However, the emergence of neoliberalismthought and the consequent privatization, globalization,
and promotion of free market do not contribute to the improvement of living standards, but rather a

the Department of Justice doubled its budget between 1991 and 2002, making the border as a

Examples Of Immortality In The Iliad
As is already known, Homeric literature served as the model for educating Greek boys and young
men, as well male Roman citizens later on in Antiquity. The passages of Homer and Hesiod
instructed a decorum which defined proper behavior as unyielding bravery in the field of battle, and
the continuous desire for besting an opponent through strident competition, or agon in the Greek.
Achillesdefined this part of heroic conduct, while Odysseus, through his renowned ability for
persuasion, defined the other. Ideally therefore, both ways melded together provided a path to
immortality and glory, which was the ultimate goal for every male aspirant in Classical Athens. As
can be witnessed in Homeric literature especially the Iliadthe real meaning of this immortality lay in
the recognition of one s achievements by his peers. And while immortality naturally meant being
remembered for one s actions, the potential for infamy also was part and parcel of this method.
Therefore, this path to everlasting glory may been seen as highly individualistic, with no lasting
contribution to the society left behind. Yet this masculine nihilistic... Show more content on

The Importance Of Segregation In America
Halfway There
Segregation has been in America since it was founded, and although it has lessened it is still present
today. Slavery ended in 1865 with the 13th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution; which stated that
slavery was illegal. At the time, most white people were still racist, and African Americans weren t
treated like normal members of society. In 1868, the 14th Amendment stated that everyone born in
America is a citizen. Unfortunately, although many years had past, prejudices on integration still
remained in 1957, when the Little Rock Nine happened.
Desegregation has been difficult for America, and although progress has been made, research shows
that much room for improvement remains.
An event that showed the difficulties of integration was the ordeal of Little Rock Nine. In 1954,
the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in the case Brown v. Board of Education that the segregation of
public schools was unconstitutional. On September 4, 1957, (the first day of school) the National
Guard was sent to escort a group of nine African American students into Central High in Little
Rock, Arkansas. This group was called The Little Rock Nine, and they were enrolled in the
previously all white Central High to start integration in schools.

The Global Catch Of Shrimp Species
1.Introduction
Penaeid shrimps (Family Penaeidae: Rafinesque, 1815) are the most economically important
crustaceans in the world as a primitive group of decapod (Abele, 1991; Chan, 1998; Dall et al.,
1990). The family has a world wide distribution in shallow, inshore tropical and subtropical
waters. The highest diversity of the family members occurs in the Indo West Pacific region with
about 205 species grouped into 26 genera (Farfante and Kensley, 1997; Martin and Davis, 2001;
McLaughlin et al., 2005; Nizinski, 2003). The global catch of shrimp species is about 3.4 million
tons/year. More than half of which are caught from the Western and Northwest Central Pacific
fisheries, besides the contribution of other essential fisheries in the Indian and in the Western
Atlantic Oceans (FAO, 2014).
Shrimps remain to be the largest single product in value terms accounting about 15 % of the
internationally traded fisheries products in 2012. Moreover, shrimps are primarily produced in
developing countries, and much of this production progressively expands in the international trade.
As the economic conditions develop in these countries, growing demand leads to high domestic
consumption leading to fewer exports. Such high demand and the subsequent overexploitation are
negatively impacting the standing stocks of shrimp which fall below the healthy standard levels.
This requires regular monitoring, assessment and management of each species to keep tracking of

Breakfast At Tiffany s A Romantic Comedy Essay
The movie Breakfast at Tiffany s is a romantic comedy about a single young woman who leads
an unusual life. She is engaged in an internal conflict about not conforming to the ideals of
society yet she also cannot break free from the chains that hold her back. While the movie is set
in 1961, the ideals of society and actions of women in the 1950s really set the stage for the issues
that Holly Golightly has to face. It was an era of rapidly shifting sexual norms that were
contradictory and contested (Rackley). Genderroles were driven by socially accepted beliefs,
behaviors and expectations (Holt). Women were beginning to feel empowered to take control of
their own bodies and lives even if this meant that they did not conform to social norms of gender
roles. They were trying to break the stereotypes that existed about women and were starting to
become more vocal about their sexuality, their roles in society and women s rights. conform to any
particular notion of what a womanshould be unless it helped her own agenda. Women s political
activism eventually led President Kennedy to announce the President s Commission on the Status
of Women in late 1961, which was ultimately charged with the tasks of finding ways to overcome
sex based discrimination and allowing women to work while fulfilling roles as wives and mothers
so they could contribute to the world around them (DuBois et al 631 632). These activities were the
build up to the women s liberation movement later in the

The Importance Of Still Life Art
Food has long been a popular subject in art. For many hundreds of years, people have created
beautiful food based artworks that are cherished, even today. The consumption of food is a
shared experience as is art. I love this idea, that we can all share art. It s an opportunity to
collaborate on ideas and express our creativity and thoughtfulness and it is accessible to all
different age groups. This week I interviewed two artists that are noted for their skill in food
inspired art to discuss their artwork. These are Still lifewith silverware and lobster by Pieter
Claesz and Still Life: The Food Bowl by Ken and Julia Yonetani. Despite the fact that these
works were created four centuries apart, they share many factors and display the essence of still
life art. The aim, for me, of this interview is to identify the changes in still life art, will there be
any use of modern, emerging technologies in the more modern piece? Or maybe a 3D element?
I am thrilled to be able to shed some light on the still life genre that occupied much of my
painting. The beauty of still life painting is that it reflects so much of what is going on in the
world around it. When this painting was created in 1641, the middle class were gaining
prominence. People wanted other people to know how wealthy and cultured they were. In Still
Life with Silverware and Lobster I chose to include a range of objects that highlighted some of my
observations about the world I lived in. I wanted it to reflect

Daunting for the psychiatric geriatric Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) are a
number of tasks, not dissimilar to the trials of Hercules. Registered nurses (RNs) transitioning to
the APRN role, according to Kimberly Buzzelli, Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner

and work collaboratively with Medical Doctors and system administrators who may be harried,
busy, or self absorbed in a number of other problems and pathologies. The need for the ability to

completed more than 100 acquisitions since 1986.
Google is another great example; they have completed over 150 acquisitions since 2001.

  • 2. Should Therapeutic Cloning Be Banned There are two sides to the topic of cloning. One side believes it is unethical and should be banned. The other side believes the benefits and possibilities outweigh the problems. The two most controversial types of artificial cloning are reproductive cloning, and therapeutic cloning. Reproductive cloning is the use of cells from a host to create a whole new genetic copy. Therapeutic cloningis the use of embryonic stem cells to create tissue to replace damaged tissue and whole organs. The ethical concerns with cloning didn t become a problem until Dolly, the sheep, was created. Many years before Dolly very similar experiments were being performed; however, those experiments did not spark much public concern regarding cloning. Over fifty years ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Animal protection agencies are questioning the many health problems that come with cloning. As mentioned before, cloning causes many problems in the cloned animal and the host mother. People that are against cloning also bring up the costs of cloning. For example the cloning of a deceased pet may cost upwards of a hundred thousand dollars. However, most of the controversy with cloning is the ethical side of cloning. Many religious groups believe that scientists are playing God by producing unfertilized embryos(Hinrichs). They believe that certain areas, such as the creation of life, should be left up to divine control. People may find that therapeutic cloning could be found unethical and controversial, because of its possible use as alternate ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Animal Protection And Breed-Discriminatory Laws Best Friends opposes breed discriminatory legislation (also called breed specific legislation, BSL), which arbitrarily targets particular breeds. Breed discriminatory laws are not only ineffective at improving community safety, they are extremely expensive to enforce and deplete needed resources from animal control. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) (click above for direct link) A CDC study on fatal dogbites lists the breeds involved in fatal attacks over 20 years (Breeds of dogs involved in fatal humanattacks in the United States between 1979 and 1998). It does not identify specific breeds that are most likely to bite or kill, and thus is not appropriate for policy making decisions related to the topic. Each year, 4.7... Restrictions from outright bans to requirements for confinement, insurance, and spay and neuter often follow incidents in which a breed and its crosses are implicated in aggressive incidents or dog fighting or other criminal activity. Such limits cause the death of many well behaved pets and rob law abiding pet owners of their rights to choose a breed or mix and responsibly own or maintain a pet or working dog without government interference. NAIA supports nuisance ordinances and dangerous dog laws to protect the community against unruly or dangerous dogs and irresponsible dog owners. NAIA supports sentences for violation of dog confinement and nuisance laws that include mandatory attendance at a basic obedience training class. AKC dog obedience clubs have provided such classes for the general public for decades and, together with private trainers, they represent a well established community resource for courts dealing with dog related offenses. Enemy torpedo planes and dive bombers swung in from various sectors to concentrate their attack on the heavy ships moored in Pearl Harbor. This was the beginning on the attack which would last for several hours destroying much of the Navy s Pacific Fleet. The Empire of Japan surprised the US with the intention of crippling the country s defenses, destroy the Pacific Fleet. • 5. International Governmental Organizations And Organizations Introduction Other names for intergovernmental companies are international governmental organizations or intergovernmental organizations. These are organizations that are primarily made up of the sovereign state that are termed as member states. They may also be made up other intergovernmental organizations. Intergovernmental companies/intergovernmental organizations are usually referred to as international organizations; however, the definition may also cover international non governmental organizations (Taninchev, 2015). Some examples of international non governmental organizations are multinational corporations and international non profit organizations. When it comes to public international law, intergovernmental companies turn out to be an important aspect. These organizations are created by treaty. The treaty acts as a charter that makes up the group. During the formation of treaties, governments of many states (lawful representatives) undergo the process of ramification. This process of ramification gives the intergovernmental companies an international legal personality. In a legal sense, intergovernmental companies need to be distinguished from simple coalition or grouping of states, such as the Quartet or G8. Simple coalitions or grouping have not been created by a constituent document. They are only present as task groups. There is also a big difference between intergovernmental organizations and treaties. A number of treaties that are usually made do not create ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Praise Professional practice rewards and sanctions essay The use of praise within the primary classroom I will use this essay to analyse the effective and destructive often harmful use of praise as a reward system within the primary classroom. Firstly it is important to explain what a reward system actually is in terms of a primary classroom. According to the Universal Dictionary, (1998); a reward is something given or received in recompense for worthy behaviour . A reward system therefore, is a system adopted by either a class teacher, adult or as a whole school ethos for the delivery of rewards for positive academic or social behaviour during the school day. Furthermore, as the earlier ratios imply, reprimands can be far more damaging to a child s self esteem and academic confidence then even over use of praise. If reprimands are used too often this could possibly lead to children becoming disengaged with learning and also foster lack of self belief within children. Teachers need to be consistent with their approach to praise. According to Cowley, S (2001) there are basic rules to behaviour management which includes consistency as well as others... Be definite I know what I want. Be aware I know what will happen if I don t get what I want. Be calm and consistent I am always fair and consistent with you. Give them structure I know where we re going. Be positive you re doing great! These rules, when applied to the classroom environment along with goal setting to increase the chance for praise and performance, will give teachers the opportunity to use praise effectively to manage behavioural expectations and academic achievement within their classroom. In order to use praise effectively however, there are other considerations that the teacher must apply to each individual class, and undeniably each individual child. Conceivably the most important consideration is that children need to want to receive praise. Without this need , praise is an ineffective reward. Potentially there are various reasons why ... Large Income Inequality In The United States Imagine the cool, refreshing feeling of ice cold water colliding with the dusty, dry caked layer of your mouth for the first time after a strenuous day of working in the heat. At your construction job, you and 89 fellow laborers worked on completing the final floor in a sixteen story building project in Lower Manhattan. After you took a swig of water from the share of the entire worker s cooler, you returned to the cooler for another small dixie cup round of water, but nothing came out. Unsatisfied, you looked around for a cool libation to suppress the uncomfortable frustration that started boiling inside of you in the hot, scorching midsummer blaze. You soon found a sense of sympathy when you realized that the guy behind you in line did not even get a single drop of water. In fact, out of the 90 workers, less than one third of you actually got a single cup of water. After a few moments passed and the mental and physical stress started affecting your production, you gazed off at the building adjacent to your site. You never really payed any attention to the building for the last 8 months, but your eyes started to focus in on the actions of those inside it. The only person you could discern on... Guevara s recollections about the revolution provide important information about the challenges the rebels faced when they first landed in Cuba as well as the diverse roles the peasantry played during the insurgency. Also, Che illustrates why the Cuban army was unable to defeat the rebels and the advantages and limitations of waging guerrilla warfare in the Sierra Maestra. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The rebels had superior knowledge about the geography of the Sierra Maestra, which allowed them to stay off the army s radar until they were ready to attack. The insurgents also had significantly less combatants and inferior weapons than the army so the Sierra Maestra, with its numerous hiding places proved to be a perfect place to set up ambushes and made retreating easy. Another advantage of fighting in the Sierra Maestra was the harsh weather. The enemy soldiers were more concerned with the rain than with the possibility of an attack. The rain, cold and mosquitos demoralized the army troops who were not used to living in such harsh conditions. Also, Batista could never send his full army to crush the insurgency in the Sierra Maestra because doing so would leave the cities vulnerable to other rebel groups looking to overthrow him. However, waging guerilla warfare in the Sierra Maestra also had its limitations. The rebels had limited manpower and firearms while the army had thousands of soldiers and top notch weaponry provided by the United States. Guerilla warfare in the Sierra Maestra also limited the rebels ability to have influence in Havana where other rebel groups such as the Revolutionary Directorate operated. Another limitation of guerilla warfare in the Sierra Maestra was the inability to attack and occupy major cities such as Havana and Santa Clara, which would have sped up the ... Be sure to comment on Mansfield s use of language. The story Daughters of the late Colonel , written by Katherine Mansfield takes place during Victorian times, based around two sister s whose father had recently died. Mansfield describes the struggles of these two women as they try to express their femininity and overcome the barriers of etiquette and the presence of their father, whom they feared. This is also seen through the repetition of absent mindedly as well as the use of dashes which allows the reader to visualize Josephine snapping at the gesture. However, even though she is pictured like this Josephine is unable to stop Nurse Andrews in real life. She merely got very red when this happened, and she fastened her small, bead like eyes on the table cloth . After developing and illustrating the typology, we suggest avenues for empirical investigation, specifying the particular cognitive processes that we expect to be differentially affected by different categories of visual rhetorical figures. Among the more important contributions of the typology is its demonstration of how concepts from art theory, semiotics and kindred disciplines can be linked to concepts drawn from social cognition in a manner susceptible to empirical study. A typology of visual rhetorical figures Defining visual rhetoric in ads We follow McQuarrie and Mick (1996) in defining a rhetorical figure as an artful deviation in form that adheres to an identifiable template. Thus, the headline Can t say no to pistachio is a rhetorical figure because it deviates in its arrangement of sounds from an ordinary sentence. However, readers do not consider this deviation to be an error because they have encountered this kind of repetition of syllables many times and have learned to treat it as a rhyme. The clause was originally intended to benefit newly freed slaves. Over time, it has acquired a broader meaning. Today, it forbids states and their local governments to draw unreasonable distinctions between classes of persons. The equal rights amendment (ERA) was introduced in 1923. Their policy was for protection of women and based largely on sexual stereotypes, which has been woven into the legal fabric of American life. This protectionism has limited the freedom of women to compete with men socially and economically on an equal footing. The movement to provide equal rights to women advanced a step with the passage of the Equal Pay Act of 1963. That act required equal pay for men and women doing similar work. On the other hand, to remove the restrictions of protectionism, women needed equal opportunity for employment. They got it in the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and later the legislation. The commitment that led to affirmative action programs expanded opportunities for women, minorities, and those who are disabled. The (Equal Opportunity ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 31. Examples Of Immortality In The Iliad As is already known, Homeric literature served as the model for educating Greek boys and young men, as well male Roman citizens later on in Antiquity. The passages of Homer and Hesiod instructed a decorum which defined proper behavior as unyielding bravery in the field of battle, and the continuous desire for besting an opponent through strident competition, or agon in the Greek. Achillesdefined this part of heroic conduct, while Odysseus, through his renowned ability for persuasion, defined the other. Ideally therefore, both ways melded together provided a path to immortality and glory, which was the ultimate goal for every male aspirant in Classical Athens. As can be witnessed in Homeric literature especially the Iliadthe real meaning of this immortality lay in the recognition of one s achievements by his peers. Slavery ended in 1865 with the 13th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution; which stated that slavery was illegal. At the time, most white people were still racist, and African Americans weren t treated like normal members of society. In 1868, the 14th Amendment stated that everyone born in America is a citizen. Unfortunately, although many years had past, prejudices on integration still remained in 1957, when the Little Rock Nine happened. Desegregation has been difficult for America, and although progress has been made, research shows that much room for improvement remains. An event that showed the difficulties of integration was the ordeal of Little Rock Nine. In 1954, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in the case Brown v. On September 4, 1957, (the first day of school) the National Guard was sent to escort a group of nine African American students into Central High in Little Rock, Arkansas. The family has a world wide distribution in shallow, inshore tropical and subtropical waters. The highest diversity of the family members occurs in the Indo West Pacific region with about 205 species grouped into 26 genera (Farfante and Kensley, 1997; Martin and Davis, 2001; McLaughlin et al., 2005; Nizinski, 2003). The global catch of shrimp species is about 3.4 million tons/year. More than half of which are caught from the Western and Northwest Central Pacific fisheries, besides the contribution of other essential fisheries in the Indian and in the Western Atlantic Oceans (FAO, 2014). Shrimps remain to be the largest single product in value terms accounting about 15 % of the internationally traded fisheries products in 2012. Moreover, shrimps are primarily produced in developing countries, and much of this production progressively expands in the international trade. She is engaged in an internal conflict about not conforming to the ideals of society yet she also cannot break free from the chains that hold her back. This week I interviewed two artists that are noted for their skill in food inspired art to discuss their artwork. These are Still lifewith silverware and lobster by Pieter Claesz and Still Life: The Food Bowl by Ken and Julia Yonetani. Despite the fact that these works were created four centuries apart, they share many factors and display the essence of still life art. The aim, for me, of this interview is to identify the changes in still life art, will there be any use of modern, emerging technologies in the more modern piece? Or maybe a 3D element? I am thrilled to be able to shed some light on the still life genre that occupied much of my painting. The beauty of still life painting is that it reflects so much of what is going on in the world around it. When this painting was created in 1641, the middle class were gaining prominence. People wanted other people to know how wealthy and cultured they were. In Still Life with Silverware and Lobster I chose to include a range of objects that highlighted some of my observations about the world I lived in. I wanted it to reflect ...
