Brave New World Christ Figure Quotes
Jesus Christ is known for his brave and selfless personality as well as his crucifixion due to his pure
and unorthodox thoughts and actions. Due to Christ s heroic personality, authors often highlight their
literary work s character s heroism with Christ personality traits. In Aldus Huxley s Brave New World,
it is evident that the Christ figure is John the Savage. John is often shown re enacting Christ s
crucifixion to purify his soul. [He] held [his hands] in voluntary crucifixion, while he repeated,
through clenched teeth, Oh, forgive me! Oh, make me pure, (Huxley 244). John is portrayed as a
character that deeply believes in punishing oneself because of his/her sins. He is willing to through
painful experiences simply to cleanse his soul.

Heroes Of The Enlightenment Analysis
In the video Heroes of the Enlightenment by Humanist Society of Australia Inc, the author explains
how during the seventeenth and eighteenth century European philosophy, science and politics were
reoriented as part of a movement known as the Age of Enlightenment. The objective of the
Enlightenment was to inform the public, aiming to persuade others about the main hero s ideas within
that era. As well as, how they shaped the world that we live in today.
The first hero of the enlightenment was Isaac Newton who was an innovator of modern science, and
he founded the theory of gravity. He believed knowledge was not only written in the bible but also
about observing what happens in our surroundings. Newton conceived gravity by watching an apple
that was falling from a tree. Where other people would see just an apple falling, Newton had seen
universal forces that were in action. Newton believed that God set up the universe in its eternal state.
Newton s contributions gave people access to knowledge within the world. ... Show more content on

He was put in prison for claiming that knowledge came from common sense, and not divine
revelation. Being imprisoned kept him from writing his biggest accomplishment the Encyclopedie.
When Diderot was released from jail, the encyclopedia was published. The pope censured the
Encyclopedie and demanded it be burned. After the encyclopedia being banned, it skyrocketed in the
publishing industry. The encyclopedia included ideas, trade skills that were explained in detail, and
philosophy craft. His book brought other authors to introduce human

Summary Of The Diary Of A Wimpy Kid
Note by Author: This fanfiction is supposed to be a twist of The Diary of a Wimpy Kid As the title of
the book series suggests, it s about a wimpy kid who goes through many unfortunate events. I have
preserved the name of the characters, while changing some of the personalities. Some of the plot has
also been changed. When life gives you lemons, make lemonade. What if you have no sugar? It ll just
be sour. All I hear is Oh, it will be fine, or Things will get better, but I know well enough it won t. I ve
been bullied, I ve been beat, I ve been framed, I ve been laughed at. It doesn t stop. My family doesn t
care either. My mom is too busy to worry about me and my dad left me years ago. My brother went to
pursue a music career and never came back. I m all alone. At school they called me a loser; I don t
even go there anymore. I stay at my house all day, scrounging for food in the fridge. Sometimes I lie
on my bed thinking about questions I can t answer. Was I a mistake? Was I a failure? Did I do
something wrong? Why won t anyone help me? Is it because I m too much of a disgrace? Why was I
born? I remember back in kindergarden, I had a friend. Just one. His name was Rowley. I remember
his goofiness, his golden brown hair, his loyalty, and most of all, his gleaming smile. It all came to an
end though when I became too harsh for him to handle. I felt so much guilt after saying all those
things to him even though it was just for my reputation. The same year Rowley

His original name was Simon. Simon was born in Galilee, Israel and became a fisherman with his
brother Andrew, who also was an Apostle, and his father Jona. He was attracted to the teachings of
John the Baptist, like many other Jewish people, and was one of those who followed John. Then one
day Jesus came and John pointed to him saying, Behold the Lamb of God . Andrew and another
disciple followed Jesus and stayed with him. When Andrew met with Simon he said, We have found
the Messiah , and then brought Simon to Jesus. Jesus said, Thou art Simon the son of Jona, Though
shalt be called Cephas, which is interpreted Peter. He became one of the Twelve Apostles and
followed Jesus. He was faithful and loving to Jesus Christ. Jesus changed Simon s name to Peter
which means rock. Peter was appointed as the head of the Apostles. In the New Testament, When
Jesus asked, Who do you say I am , Peter answered telling him You are the Messiah, the Son of the
living God. And to this Jesus replied, You are Peter, and on this rock I will build my Church, and the
gates of hell will not prevail against it (Matt16:18). This Bible quote explains how Jesus appointed
Peter as the leader of the Apostles and the base of the Church. Jesus gave Peter the authority over the
Church to guide his followers. Peter was known to be weak in some instances though. When Jesus

The Founding Fathers Of Virtue Ethics
Virtue ethics is considered as one of the three major approaches in normative ethics. The founding
fathers of Virtue ethics are Plato and more particularly Aristotle. It suffered a momentary eclipse
during the nineteenth century but re emerged in the late 1950 s in Anglo American philosophy (Virtue
Ethics , 2012). The re emergence had an effect on the other two approaches. The consequence of this
is the fact that is now necessary to distinguish virtue ethics from virtue theory. Kant s virtue theory has
conveyed philosophers attention to Kant s Doctrine of Virtue and the utilitarian s have developed
consequentialist virtue theories. A virtue such as honesty or generosity is not just a tendency to do

controversies, Louis Pasteur investigated, revised deeper and deeper his claims to bring up more
evidences that lead him to more and more discoveries. Today, because of his claims; we know the

The Pros And Cons Of Collective Bargaining
One of the first laws President Roosevelt enacted was National Relations Act. This law was signed
into law in 1935. The key provisions of this law is to ensure workers are protected within the industry.
The most popular aspect of this is collective bargaining. This law also curtail certain private sector
labor and management practices, which can harm the general welfare of workers businesses, and the
U.S. economy (National Labor Relations Act). Collective bargaining establishes negotiation between
the workers and the employees. This is an attempt that certain things are compromised between the
managers and the owners. This pertains to salaries, work hours, healthcare, and among others. This
bill Is considered one of the important and profound piece of legislation ever passed because it began
a wave of the federal government being supportive of unions. Unions increased dramatically for many
years after that. Another key provision of this act is essentially, the worker have power to unionize, the
owners do not have a right to interfere. Collective bargaining is the hallmark of benefits of the workers
or employees within the organization. As stated prior, there were very little regards for workers in the
entity. Workers were working for longer hours, unsafe working conditions, and were paid a meager
salary. The nature of collective bargaining have evolved over the years and took a drastic turn. An

Figuring the right kind of contraceptive method what works the best and what does not, is one of most
imperative concern of every sexually active couple. Zeroing in on the method that suits both partners
is very essential but can be tricky given the variety of birth control options now available. Knowing
the various different contraception methods present is the first step to finding one that matches your

2. There could be a mild ache and occasional swelling at the site of the operation on the testes.

Emergency Pill:
No matter how careful you are, sometimes accidents do happen. Emergency contraception pills do
come handy in such a scenario. The morning after pill is a safe and effective way to prevent pregnancy
after unprotected intercourse. Emergency contraception pills work by keeping a woman s ovary from
releasing an egg for longer than usual. Emergency contraception should not be used as a form of
ongoing birth control because there are other forms of birth control that are a lot more effective and

Reaction Paper On Happiness And Happiness
INCOME AND HAPPINESS
The idea of happiness and what makes one happier, is drawing a great deal of scholarly attentions.
Happiness can also be determined by how satisfied one feels in his/her life. Graham, Zhou, and Zhang
(2017), observed that, using data from the Chinese Livelihood survey, mental health hugely affects
happiness, whereas physical health significantly impacts mental health (p.242). Demir (2010) found
that the quality of mother and best friend relationships were the predictors of happiness among
emerging adults without romantic partners, while the quality of romantic relationship and mother
appeared to be the predictors of happiness among those involved in romantic relationship (p.310).
Happiness is also associated with faith and religion, however, Edling, Rydgren, and Bohman (2014)
found no positive affect of religion on happiness, instead, membership in non religious, social
organization, and clubs emerged to be the factors that drive happiness in a country like Sweden with
low aggregate level of religiosity (p.621). Similarly, decent number of researchers associated
happiness with wealth and income. Easterlin (2001) argues that there is positive relationship between
happiness and income over the short run, however, the level of happiness remains constant among
cohorts over the long run due to the equivalent increase in their material aspiration (p.465 681). In this
paper, I will be reviewing Easterlin s

The Great Gig In The Sky
The Great Gig in the Sky is a metaphor for death. As one grows older there are fears of dying, but this
song sings a tune of the character not frightened of dying (Floyd, The Great Gig in the Sky). The
character has lived his unfulfilled life of stress, anxiety, and the passing of time, that now dying seems
pleasant. Talking with elders, some are scared of dying because they wonder if they did have an
unfulfilled life, but this character seems to accept it, and because of that he or she has no reason to be
afraid, because they were well aware they let life pass by. Side B of The Dark Side of the Moon
concentrates on the roots that cause madness, or a mediocre life. The most common evil in the world

Technology: Embrace Change
If there is one consistency in life, then it is the one of change and we as a human race will need to find
a way to adapt to it. As the ancient philosopher Heraclitus of Ephesus articulated with a brilliant and
memorable statement on the river of flux that life is like a river: We both step and do not step in the
same rivers. We are and are not (B49a). What Heraclitus points out for those who are unfamiliar with
this school of thought is, that the natural state of life is change where everything including ourselves is
constantly shifting, changing, and becoming something other to what it was before. This theory that
life is like a river is useful because it sheds light on a human challenge to accept change. According ...

Investigating The Co2 And Temperature Changes From The...
In this investigation, we were required to design our own self sustaining ecosystem, and monitor the
changes in temperature and CO2 levels. We compared the outside temperature and CO2 levels, to
those of our ecosystem. Self sustaining ecosystems are in the process of being designed tested, so that
one day humans will be able to survive and thrive on other planets, like Mars. The outcome of our
ecosystem was a failure, like all other previous attempts. Our ecosystem was too hot and had too
higher CO2 levels, to be able to sustain the life of insects, and grow plants. This was because, we did
not have enough fresh water, going into all the layers and fresh oxygen, as a result of no greenery
growing. I believe, if we placed grown plants in our bottle at the start of our experiment, we would
have had a very different outcome. Aim:
In this practical we are going to investigate the CO2 and temperature changes from the outside
environment, compared to our ecosystem in a bottle. We are also creating a fully self sustaining
ecosystem in a bottle, which needs to grow a type of plant and provide a habitable environment for an
insect/animal.
Hypothesis:
I believe that the temperature and CO2 levels inside our ecosystem will be a lot higher than outside
the bottle. I also do not think that our insects or plants will survive and thrive, because there is not
enough oxygen in the bottle, and it is too hot. Other groups that have plants and water in their bottle,
will have lower CO2

Reflection Paper On Being A Nurse
Being a nurse takes its toll on emotions and really puts through tough times with dying patients or
patients that are just plain out rude. And at first, I thought that being emotionally involved with the
patient was not allowed because it made it harder to do your job. I was wrong being emotionally
involved makes you a better nurse and makes it seem like you are an actual person and not a
mechanical being taking care of patients. We went to say goodbye. We went there for comfort from
our family. We went there to give comfort before the end. Arriving in Wyoming at around eleven we
wanted to see my aunt Ritti before she died. Getting to the hospital I was calm and collected but as
soon as I walked into the room my emotions were all scrambled. Her head tilted back and her mouth
was wide open so she could breathe, she was skinnier, pale, and there were bags under her eyes. She
was lying there motionless, the only thing that she could move were her eyes. I only knew one way to
handle a situation dealing with death, cry. After saying hello to my aunt Ritti I said hello to my aunts
Tuesday and Rhonda, uncles Daryl and David, and my mother s parents. We stayed in the hospital
talking and catching up and including my aunt in the conversation. Around one in the morning my

better understanding of an individual s mental health based off a few different variables including
respondent s income, alcohol consumption, and marital status. The main focus for this research will be
to try and grasp a further understanding of the effects each of these have on an individuals mental
health. Too commonly we see people who determine their own self worth based off monetary income,

Data: The information provided for this research project came from the General Social Survey, (GSS).
Using IBM s SPSS predictive analytics software I analyzed the data to determine the significance of
these factors. The alcohol variable I used accounted for the number of alcoholic beverages in a given
year (GSS variable DRINKYR ). The other variable tested for significance was marital status (GSS
variable MARITAL ). This method of sampling is considered random probabilistic sampling, as we
should be able to draw a conclusion with our results about the general population using entirely
quantitative data. In examining the data I will be searching for causality to determine the significance
of these factors and whether or not they correlate with over overall quality of mental health. Focal
Relationship: I believe that income will have the highest significance between the three of these
factors, that s why I ve chosen income and mental health as the focal relationship. Two variables are
needed to determine whether or not causality exists between mental health and income. The dependent
variable will be identified as an individual s amount of poor mental health days in the last 30 days
(GSS variable mntlhlth ). This data will be considered interval/ratio due to the close ended survey
question. Answers to the survey were provided in ranked numerical intervals representing the
frequency of respondent s poor mental health days in the past

The Great Depression Of The United States
Mary has appeared 9 major approved times by the Catholic Church. She appears in times of trouble to
urge people to recommit themselves to the church and inspire the conversion of sinners to Christianity.
Paragraph on Marian Apparitions, the 9 sites One of these modern apparitions of the Virgin Mother
was in Banneux, Belgium in 1933. 1929 saw the Wallstreet Crash in the United States which prompted
the Great Depression. This dramatic downfall of the United States economy had repercussions in
Europe, which lead to large unemployment rates and poverty. The global climate at the time would ve
socially and financially affected this small farming village. If the village was feeling in stride with the
rest of the world, they were most likely feeling very disheartened. In this apparition the blessed
mother chose to appear to an 11 year old girl, Mariette Becco. Banneux is a small town southeast of
Liège; it was a poor farming village centered on its church. Beautiful valleys of Ambleve, Vesdre, and
Hoëgne surround the town. The house that Mariette Becco lived in was small with a garden in the
front; the climate was humid and swampy. Across the street from her house was the edge of the Eifel
Forest. The Mother Mary appeared to a young girl named Mariette. Mariette lived with her mother,
father, and 10 younger siblings in their 4 bedroom house. The family was poor and although her father
was born Catholic they were not normal attendees at their local church, which makes

Examples Of Atticus s Parenting Styles In To Kill A...
Some people think that Atticus s parenting style is great and very laid back, while others think it might
be a little bit lax. I am somewhere in between. I do agree that his parenting style is very laid back,
which would be very nice in certain situations. I also think however, that he could be a little more
strict with his parenting. Atticus is a very laid back parent which I think is really cool. My parents are
very strict on what I can and can t do. So Atticus s parenting style looks like a very good way of
parenting. I like how he lets his children learn from their mistakes on their own, even though he
knows what they ve done and could ve easily punished them. He doesn t make it awkward for them to
have to own up to their mistakes, he doesn t even bring it up unless it is something very serious that
needs to be dealt with right away. For example, when Jem tore up Mrs. Dubose s flower bed, Atticus
punished him by making him read to her every day for almost two months. With my family it s the

Summary Of Outliers By Malcolm Gladwell
Cultural Legacies Final Paper In chapter seven and chapter eight of Outliers, Malcolm Gladwell
effectively claims that acknowledging cultural legacies betters the chance of success. In chapter seven
of Outliers, Malcolm Gladwell entices readers on the topic of plane crashes in the aviation world,
while commendably and credibly synthesizing the controversy around the question of how and why
plane crashes occur. When illustrating the terrible crash of Korean Airlines Flight 801 in 1997,
Gladwell intricately describes the language, words, actions, and psychology of the pilots and crew
members associated with the plane crash to better the authenticity of his claim. Combining these ideas,
Gladwell forms a theory that arguably proves to be true ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While I was there, I saw firsthand the importance of cultural legacy and the effect it had on the
communication between groups of different cultural legacies: Haitian and American. Having the
cultural legacy of a native American (not referring to ethnicity), I wore a bracelet on my ankle. In
Haiti, the primary cultural legacy of Haitians assumes that anklet bracelets is a symbol for prostitution.
Not only does Haiti s cultural legacy induce the tradition of this assumption, it also induces the
assumption that prostitution is an act of Satan. Further into the story, I walked past a young orphan girl
living at the orphanage I was staying at. As I walked past her, she stopped me in my tracts and yelled
at me, Satan! . The communication barrier between me and the young girl, resulted in
miscommunication. This is another example of how interaction between different cultural legacies
results in a communication barrier. These examples of cultural legacy, are only but a few examples
from my trip to Haiti. Because I experienced the interaction between myself and people of different
cultural legacies, I agree with Gladwell s theory that cultural legacies are important and effective in

Examples Of Media Bias
Why So Biased? The media overtime, ever since the beginning of news reporting on campaigns and
elections, has become biased. With journalists having an unshakeable opinion of a specific person
leads to them writing biased articles or papers. Many readers believe certain news outlets are too
biased and refuse to even read articles that come from that station or watch a certain news channel,
this leads to many believing that the readers are biased and not the journalists. However, this is not the
case. Looking at many journalists it is incredibly clear that they try and persuade their readers against
one candidate and towards another. Through the development of new ways to spread news, such as
television, weblogs and news stations, the media has become biased and tries to persuade readers
against certain candidates and towards another. Many argue that the media does its job when it comes
to representing both sides when reporting on elections and campaigns. They ... Show more content on

Representation In The American Colonies
All throughout of the history of mankind, the notion of sovereignty was linked to right of succession
through a religious belief that God rules mankind and therefore has the rightful authority to appoint a
king who then, in turn, serves as legitimate authority until his successor is appointed. The role of the
church in legitimating and prolonging the rule of royalty was critical, and through the combination of
kings and priests, the subjects such governments were convinced that the king was the depository of
legitimate power and legal authority and the king, therefore, could do no wrong. Because of the king s
arrogance and alleged superiority, the American colonies declared their independence against Britain
on July 4th, 1776. Three of their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The proceeds from the colonies taxation were used to supplement England s defense, which would

American colonists barely covered one third of the cost of maintaining British troops in the thirteen
colonies, but the colonists felt the troops were only there to watch them since the threats from the
French were long gone. To the colonists, the further taxation was offensive. They had cleared acres of
land, fought off Native Americans, and watched as their relatives die in the process of building a
colony that enhanced the British Empire. For hundreds of years in British history, Parliament followed
the tradition of receiving permission for levying taxes. Even though the king had these divine rights

Comparison Of Joseph Stalin And Prague Spring
Glasnost, Joseph Stalin and Prague Spring were influential in bringing or attempting to bring
transformation to Russian society. Some attempts were more successful and unopposed then others.
When establishing transformation of a long standing ideal, it is not always accepted with open arms.
Joseph Stalin was betrayed by Nazi Germany, which in turn created an air of mistrust the government
foreign or otherwise, as well as maintains a chokehold on his country. The consequences of his
mistrust were establishing a brutal regime that wanted to continue the status quo. A new change could
only result by the passage of time and simply letting the old guard die off before new ideas were
reintroduced to Russia. Joseph Stalin (1878 1953) was the dictator of the Union of Soviet Socialist
Republics (USSR) from 1929 to 1953. Under Stalin, the Soviet Union was transformed from a peasant
society into an industrial and military superpower. However, he ruled by terror, and millions of his
own citizens died during his brutal reign. Stalin created a new Russian society but along the way he

Prague Spring ended with a Soviet invasion, the removal of Alexander Dubček as party leader and an

The television show, George Lopez, is a series in which Latinos make up the entire cast of the family.
It takes place in the present day Los Angeles and focuses on a family and their daily lifestyle. This is
one of two television shows that are directed to the English speaking population that has the Latino
minority as the main ethnicity of the cast.
Only 4% of Hispanics make up the cast of prime time television shows, a miniscule amount

Biometric And Identification Of Biometric Identification
Biometric methodologies emerged into existence in 1858 by use of recording hand images for
identification purposes. From 1858 to 1896 studies progressed in the identification of individuals by
hand geometry, a person s measurements, and fingerprints. From the year 1936 to 1985 biometric
studies proceeded for iris pattern, face recognition, acoustic speech, written signature, and hand
identification. Patents for hand and iris identification became a reality 1985 to 1986 and in 1988 the
first semi automated facial recognition system was deployed. By 1991 face recognition is automated
with the ability of detecting faces in real time. By the mid to late 1990 s biometric methodologies
evolves and is integrated into technology allowing the practice of fingerprint, palm systems, and iris
identification to become more reliable with increased automation capabilities. Studies therefore
increased and biometric technology became even more advanced in the early 2000 s up until today s
time.
There are now about 14 different types of biometric technologies that exist today. These biometric
technologies are DNA, Iris, Retina, face, fingerprint, finger geometry, hand geometry, odor, typing,
vein, voice, and gait recognition which are all techniques of identifying and authenticating individuals
that would provide a more reliable and efficient way of verifying a person identification also
preventing access to unauthorized personnel. Biometric technologies today are becoming less

Linking the two gives all managers and employees a clearer understanding of strategic goals. This
understanding, in turn, leads to greater support for goals, better coordination of tactics, and, ultimately,
to stronger companywide performance. Companies that apply best practices find that communication
plays an important role in creating this link.
Design procedures that allocate resources strategically: Within any company, competition for
resources is inevitable. Every function and business unit needs funding for both capital and operating
expenses usually in excess of the actual resources available. This makes it critically important for
companies to design procedures so that resources are allocated to support key strategies. Organizations
that adopt best practices find that resource allocation is part science, part art. Fortunately, following
certain best practices leads to better results. One such practice is coordinating the review of operating
and capital budgets. Doing this gives managers insight into the ways in which changes in one budget
affect the other.

The True Woman s Slavery Essay
The True Woman s Slavery Experience in the Caribbean In history, a woman s experience of slavery is
often presumed as inadequate and useless. Unfortunately, there are many experiences of women
during slavery that is untouched and needs to be highlighted. For instance, did enslaved women work
as much as enslaved males? If so, did they work in the same field or was there a difference. Women
grew burdensome in that they would spitefully work inefficiently and slower than needed, leading to
the resistance. Specifically, this paper discussion why are similarities and differences in the roles of
enslaved women who resided in both Jamaica and Barbados bring complications to slave owners. I
will attempt to understand the perception of female slaves in the Caribbean, in order to gain an insight
into why their lives and daily experience may or may not have been similar or different as well as
what are some possible reasons why an enslaved females history is ignored and often generalized.
In the reading Laboring Women: Reproduction and Gender in New World Slavery, it sheds light on the
fact women were supposed to work as hard as men in the field work made available to them. For
instance, men were given worked considered skilled while women in comparison got jobs that were
not primarily for reproductive purposes as assumed from past slavery readings, but instead women
were used for women s work (Morgan). Slave owners often refused to allow enslaved women to

This is established at the beginning of Act 1, through an allusion to Christian philosophy in Vladimir s
dialogue about the fable of the two thieves, where One is supposed to have been saved and the other
damned . In his allusion to the Bible, Beckett emphasises chance being woven into even the most
sacred of texts that supposedly hold the ultimate truth for humanity. Moreover, in his book
Understanding Samuel Beckett (1990), Alan Astro highlights that it is God s silence that causes the
real hopelessness amidst all the comical actions of Beckett s characters. He suggests, the recourse to
bookkeeping by the philosopher (Pascal) no less than the clownish tramp shows how helpless we are
with respect to God s silence . However, while Beckett s play is concerned with a loss of meaning, it
raises a positive message, implying we are free to give our own lives meaning and purpose, free to
redeem our suffering by making something of it (Kaufmann). While Beckett sees little reason for hope
after witnessing the trauma caused by the very weapons meant to preserve world peace, he is unable to
relinquish it entirely. This is evident in the symbol of the tree. The tree is central to the set design of

and I will move the world. Another extremely important innovation by Archimedes was the pulley. He

Johnny Appleseed Research Paper
American folktales are something many of us grew up hearing mom or dad read before bed. Johnny
Appleseed is a legendary hero of many of these stories, and with good reason. Based on a man named
John Chapman, an American pioneer, who wore a pan as a hat and traveled to spread apple trees and
compassion to the early Westerners. His vision was to sate hunger issues with blossoming apple trees
abounding. Wherever he went, love and peace were spread, and this is shown with his many friends;
including Native Americans, settlers, and animals! Born in Massachusetts on September 26th, 1774, as
the second child of Nathaniel and Elizabeth Chapman, John was welcomed as their first son. The place
he was born has a granite stone marker, and the street is named after him Johnny Appleseed Lane. His
father fought at Concord in 1775 as a Minuteman, and while he was off to war, Johnny s mother
passed away directly after birthing their second son, Nathaniel jr. The baby followed his mother to the

Market Segments:
Restaurant is not a place, which can be assigned to any one category of market, but to be more
efficient in directing the resources to the right target market, for this we have done market
segmentation. According to the given statistical data, we can easily understand why children were
chosen to be the target market:
Between 5 10 years 75% Between 11 18 years 88% Between 19 25 years 28% Between 26 40 years
45% Between 41 onwards 14%
The result of the analysis states that the age group of 5 18 is the best target segment to be focused. The
rest of them are some how related to the above two fields and can be influenced by their demands to
come to the restaurant.
Geographic Segments:
Here we subdivide markets into segments based on geographic distribution the regions, counties, cities
and towns where people live and work. This can be taken out by taking into consideration:
a) Regional population distribution
b) Urban, suburbs and rural distribution

However unlike the US, Hofstede indicates the Mexico has a very high degree of uncertainty
avoidance , which means that its people are very orthodox and rigid in their beliefs; there is usually no
tolerance for new innovations or ideas. The remaining nations, Japan, South Korea and Taiwan also
share some of the same characteristics as Mexico, so Hofstede characterizes them as collectivists
societies as well. Given these cultural contexts, it is safe to say that Costco embeds itself and operates
within a variety of different cultures.
Organizational Culture
In terms of Costco s organizational culture itself, Costco refuses to look at itself as a big Wall Street
corporation, instead it works to maintain itself more as a small company even though it is the country
s 4th largest retailer by volume. Its espoused values can be drawn from its vision statement which
says: In order to achieve our mission we will conduct our business with the following Code of Ethics

Former long time CEO Jim Sinegal s driving vision for Costco still dominates and it is all about

California Blue Essay
California Blue is a novel about a seventeen year old boy named John Rodger. John is in his last year
of high school in a small northern California town where the majority of the townspeople, including
John s father, work in the lumber industry. As the youngest son of a father who was a champion
athlete, John has always felt pressured to excel in his sport of choice, distance running. Because his
father considers biologist s opposition to clear cutting of redwoods a threat to the timber industry and
his livelihood, John s father also disapproves of John s interest in biology as a major area of study.
John doesn t follow either of his father s wishes. In the middle of his senior year John learns that his
father has leukemia and that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He runs away. With help of Miss Merrill, his biology teacher, he returns home to a separate peace with
his father and a new understanding of the trade offs between loyalty and responsibility.
Decisions regarding environmental problems require both knowledge and values. Placing value on
specific issues can be sorted into four categories of justification: utilitarian, ecological, aesthetic and
moral. California Blue focuses on the interplay of environmental issues and ethics emphasizing the
conflict between industry and species preservation. Timber cutting in the Northwest United States is a
mainstay of the economy. Although clear cutting is not as environmentally sensitive as selective
harvesting and redwood cutting, some is essential to America s continued growth and prosperity. To
ban timber operations and to throw people out of work, all to preserve an endangered blue butterfly, is
to test the limits and logic of ecological priorities. The national policy of preserving endangered
species serves the purpose of promoting biological diversity, which if not followed might threaten the
ecosystem. This national policy of species preservation is a matter of social policy balanced with the
competing interests of the local economy and human needs. Under the utilitarian approach one must
balance the benefits of species preservation with the detriment of stopping human activity which
threatens that species or the environment in which the

Lindbergh Baby Case Study
The Lindbergh Baby Case is a case about a famous aviator, Charles Lindbergh Sr., whose baby
Charles Lindbergh Jr, was kidnapped from his home in New Jersey on March 1, 1932 between 8:00pm
11:30pm. Eventually two and a half years later the guilty party was found. However, in order for the
family to find out what happened to their innocent child they had to use the help of the New Jersey
police department, the FBI, and the New York City police department. Once the individual was
captured it was up to the court systems and corrections to ensure that the guilty party was charged
appropriately. Without the help of the criminal justice system the Lindbergh Family would not have
seen justice for their baby.
The first component of the criminal justice system the police, received news of Baby Lindbergh s
kidnapping at 11:30pm on March 1, 1932. Per Schmalleger (2015) the job of police officers is to
investigate crimes, gather evidence, apprehend offenders, and ensure community safety. When the
police received a call at 11:30pm notifying them of the Lindbergh baby being kidnapped, they went to
the Lindbergh s mansion and started an investigation. They questioned everyone in the home and
found evidence of a ransom note asking for $50,000, marks on a window from a ladder that was used
to enter the home, and a chisel gouge that was used to pry open the shutter. They learned that the baby
was pulled from his blanket by his head and they found a clump of yellow soil clay on a suitcase

Friendships Vs. Same-Sex Relationships
In 1997, Dave Hill wrote The Future of Men, where he forecasts that the future will involve men and
women alike accommodating more flexible models of masculinity which acknowledge many features
in common with femininity ...[which does] not denigrate either those men who do not exhibit the same
masculine traits or those women who do. (Hill, 1997, p. 52) However, when considering same sex
versus cross sex friendships of college students, men and women to this day still perform different
identities, therefore, resulting in having more frequent stronger same sex friendships than cross sex
friendships. Friendship ideals and norms considerably influence preference of friendships and the
probability of having a strong intersectional friendship. Most men and women have different
friendship ideals and norms from one another. It is imperative to provide a definition for friendship.
Hays (as cited in Demir and Orthel, 2011) defines friendship as a voluntary interdependence between
two persons over time, that is intended to facilitate socio emotional goals of the participants, and may
involve varying types and degrees of companionship, intimacy, affection and mutual assistance (p
175). For understanding purposes, future use of the term relationship specifically refers to a
connection or association between two or more people that is independent of romantic relationship.
According to Demir and Orthel (2011) every individual has a comparison level (CL), which is greatly

Engagement Rings Research Paper
Since prehistoric times we have searched for a way to use unique engagement rings to identify our
chosen mate, and announce our marriage to the world. While engagement rings hold considerably
more sentimental and romantic value in our society, this certainly has not always been the case. In
fact, up until the late 1700 s, engagement rings were used not as a romantic gesture, but as a way for a
man to assert his ownership of his wife.
Throughout history engagement rings have been made from many different materials. From braided
grass rings worn by the wives of cavemen, to rings made of human hair and gemstones worn by 19th
century Victorians, each culture and era throughout history has taken their own approach to this
tradition.

Technology In Ww2
Technology has made a huge difference in the world since history, and it has been a reason why
people are more social. In the old times since the 1960 s to the 1980 s many people didn t knew where
many things came from or they didn t knew how it was made or know anything about technology.
Until, in the year 1440 printing press came as a form of technology to people that allowed them to
write news on newspapers and inform the people many things about what was going on in the world
and how many things were created. Whenever WW2 came that was when technology started to
develop more and it helped many soldiers create bombs and destroy houses and become more
powerful. In advantage it didn t helped them enough to win the war which is a good thing. One of the
most useful transportations that was used in WW2 was the railway also known as a train that was
created in 1804. It helped transport many jews to the concentration camps whenever WW2 started. ...

still use the automobile to travel to different places and go wherever we need to as well as the train.
The technology changed in medical history with the weight masser that was used later in the 18th
century. It now helps nurses and doctors know how much kids and adults weight. Another big change
that we still use today is the computer that was created between the years 1936 and 1938 by a German
named Konrad Zuse. It now helps doctors determine what type of sickness a person has and what
could cure it. The data consumption helps a nurse analyze a patient s report and file a patient s

Heroes Of The Enlightenment Analysis In the video Heroes of the Enlightenment by Humanist Society of Australia Inc, the author explains how during the seventeenth and eighteenth century European philosophy, science and politics were reoriented as part of a movement known as the Age of Enlightenment. The objective of the Enlightenment was to inform the public, aiming to persuade others about the main hero s ideas within that era. As well as, how they shaped the world that we live in today. The first hero of the enlightenment was Isaac Newton who was an innovator of modern science, and he founded the theory of gravity. He believed knowledge was not only written in the bible but also about observing what happens in our surroundings. Newton conceived gravity by watching an apple that was falling from a tree. Where other people would see just an apple falling, Newton had seen universal forces that were in action. Newton believed that God set up the universe in its eternal state. I have preserved the name of the characters, while changing some of the personalities. Some of the plot has also been changed. When life gives you lemons, make lemonade. What if you have no sugar? It ll just be sour. All I hear is Oh, it will be fine, or Things will get better, but I know well enough it won t. I ve been bullied, I ve been beat, I ve been framed, I ve been laughed at. It doesn t stop. My family doesn t care either. My mom is too busy to worry about me and my dad left me years ago. My brother went to pursue a music career and never came back. I m all alone. At school they called me a loser; I don t even go there anymore. I stay at my house all day, scrounging for food in the fridge. Sometimes I lie on my bed thinking about questions I can t answer. Was I a mistake? Was I a failure? Did I do something wrong? Why won t anyone help me? Is it because I m too much of a disgrace? Why was I born? I remember back in kindergarden, I had a friend. Just one. His name was Rowley. I remember his goofiness, his golden brown hair, his loyalty, and most of all, his gleaming smile. The key provisions of this law is to ensure workers are protected within the industry. The most popular aspect of this is collective bargaining. This law also curtail certain private sector labor and management practices, which can harm the general welfare of workers businesses, and the U.S. economy (National Labor Relations Act). Collective bargaining establishes negotiation between the workers and the employees. This is an attempt that certain things are compromised between the managers and the owners. This pertains to salaries, work hours, healthcare, and among others. This bill Is considered one of the important and profound piece of legislation ever passed because it began a wave of the federal government being supportive of unions. Unions increased dramatically for many years after that. Another key provision of this act is essentially, the worker have power to unionize, the owners do not have a right to interfere. Collective bargaining is the hallmark of benefits of the workers or employees within the organization. As stated prior, there were very little regards for workers in the entity. Workers were working for longer hours, unsafe working conditions, and were paid a meager salary. The nature of collective bargaining have evolved over the years and took a drastic turn. • 13. Reaction Paper On Happiness And Happiness INCOME AND HAPPINESS The idea of happiness and what makes one happier, is drawing a great deal of scholarly attentions. Happiness can also be determined by how satisfied one feels in his/her life. Graham, Zhou, and Zhang (2017), observed that, using data from the Chinese Livelihood survey, mental health hugely affects happiness, whereas physical health significantly impacts mental health (p.242). Demir (2010) found that the quality of mother and best friend relationships were the predictors of happiness among emerging adults without romantic partners, while the quality of romantic relationship and mother appeared to be the predictors of happiness among those involved in romantic relationship (p.310). Happiness is also associated with faith and religion, however, Edling, Rydgren, and Bohman (2014) found no positive affect of religion on happiness, instead, membership in non religious, social organization, and clubs emerged to be the factors that drive happiness in a country like Sweden with low aggregate level of religiosity (p.621). Similarly, decent number of researchers associated happiness with wealth and income. Easterlin (2001) argues that there is positive relationship between happiness and income over the short run, however, the level of happiness remains constant among cohorts over the long run due to the equivalent increase in their material aspiration (p.465 681). Talking with elders, some are scared of dying because they wonder if they did have an unfulfilled life, but this character seems to accept it, and because of that he or she has no reason to be afraid, because they were well aware they let life pass by. As the ancient philosopher Heraclitus of Ephesus articulated with a brilliant and memorable statement on the river of flux that life is like a river: We both step and do not step in the same rivers. We are and are not (B49a). What Heraclitus points out for those who are unfamiliar with this school of thought is, that the natural state of life is change where everything including ourselves is constantly shifting, changing, and becoming something other to what it was before. • 16. Investigating The Co2 And Temperature Changes From The... In this investigation, we were required to design our own self sustaining ecosystem, and monitor the changes in temperature and CO2 levels. We compared the outside temperature and CO2 levels, to those of our ecosystem. Self sustaining ecosystems are in the process of being designed tested, so that one day humans will be able to survive and thrive on other planets, like Mars. The outcome of our ecosystem was a failure, like all other previous attempts. Our ecosystem was too hot and had too higher CO2 levels, to be able to sustain the life of insects, and grow plants. This was because, we did not have enough fresh water, going into all the layers and fresh oxygen, as a result of no greenery growing. I believe, if we placed grown plants in our bottle at the start of our experiment, we would have had a very different outcome. Aim: In this practical we are going to investigate the CO2 and temperature changes from the outside environment, compared to our ecosystem in a bottle. We are also creating a fully self sustaining ecosystem in a bottle, which needs to grow a type of plant and provide a habitable environment for an insect/animal. Hypothesis: I believe that the temperature and CO2 levels inside our ecosystem will be a lot higher than outside the bottle. I also do not think that our insects or plants will survive and thrive, because there is not enough oxygen in the bottle, and it is too hot. Other groups that have plants and water in their bottle, will have lower CO2 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The other variable tested for significance was marital status (GSS variable MARITAL ). This method of sampling is considered random probabilistic sampling, as we should be able to draw a conclusion with our results about the general population using entirely quantitative data. In examining the data I will be searching for causality to determine the significance of these factors and whether or not they correlate with over overall quality of mental health. Focal Relationship: I believe that income will have the highest significance between the three of these factors, that s why I ve chosen income and mental health as the focal relationship. Two variables are needed to determine whether or not causality exists between mental health and income. The dependent variable will be identified as an individual s amount of poor mental health days in the last 30 days (GSS variable mntlhlth ). Unfortunately, there are many experiences of women during slavery that is untouched and needs to be highlighted. For instance, did enslaved women work as much as enslaved males? If so, did they work in the same field or was there a difference. Women grew burdensome in that they would spitefully work inefficiently and slower than needed, leading to the resistance. Johnny Appleseed is a legendary hero of many of these stories, and with good reason. Based on a man named John Chapman, an American pioneer, who wore a pan as a hat and traveled to spread apple trees and compassion to the early Westerners. His vision was to sate hunger issues with blossoming apple trees abounding. Wherever he went, love and peace were spread, and this is shown with his many friends; including Native Americans, settlers, and animals! Born in Massachusetts on September 26th, 1774, as the second child of Nathaniel and Elizabeth Chapman, John was welcomed as their first son. His father fought at Concord in 1775 as a Minuteman, and while he was off to war, Johnny s mother passed away directly after birthing their second son, Nathaniel jr. The baby followed his mother to the afterlife two weeks after, leaving only Elizabeth jr. and Johnny as Mr. Chapman s offspring.
