KYCOM Personal Statement
Ever since I was little, I was raised to overcome simple cold without taking any medicine. The only
medicine that was provided to me was orange juice. It seemed very peculiar then. My parents would
tell me, Let your body do its own job. After many years of studying biology, anatomy, and toxicology,
I am continually fascinated by what our bodies are capable of. I realized our bodies are stronger and
smarter than we know; this has led me to apply for osteopathic medical education.
The University of Pikeville Kentucky College of Osteopathic Medicine (KYCOM) has maintained
very strong, specific aims throughout many years. KYCOM emphasizes producing physicians who are
committed to serve rural areas where there is a shortage of medical support,

Sistine Chapel Essay
Michelangelo undertook the painting of the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel during the High Renaissance.
The height of the rebirth of Classical thought in Europe. The atmosphere of the time period and even
its name, translating to rebirth , can be seen in the program of the frescoes decorating the ceiling of the
chapel. The central panels are scenes from the book of Genesis. They deal with God s creation of earth
and man, the fall of man and the story of Noah. In fictive spandrels, Michelangelo placed nude youths
among prophets and sybils, ancient Greek seers. In the Catholic tradition, sybils are thought to have
foretold the coming of Christ. The scenes of from Genesis were chosen because they represented the
birth of humanity. During the Renaissance ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the Catholic religion, Jesus is seen as the antidote to the fall of man, like how the Renaissance was
seen as the antidote to the Gothic period. The story represented the religious motivations of the patron,
Pope Julius II. As a religious leader, it would make sense that Julius II would be interested in
including tenets of the Catholic church in the frescoes of the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. Other
elements of the ceiling, mainly the fictive architecture, the inclusion of pagan elements and
Michaelangelo s attention to the human figure represent the humanist interests of Pope Julius II.
Humanism is based on the principles of Classical Roman and Greek philosophy. In the Renaissance,
Humanist values are often portrayed in motifs and design elements that relate to the Classical world.
For example, the inclusion of the sybils in the frescoes from the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. Syblis
are female Greek seers. They are pagan, their inclusion on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel and the
mythology that Catholics created around them, that they foretold the coming of Christ, was a way to
bring together Classical religion with

The Greatest Military Of The Invaded Country
A general should be capable of making all the resources of the invaded country contribute to the
success of his enterprise
Lt. Gen. Antoine Henri, Baron De Jominin
Leadership is a powerful thing when it comes to the survival of a nation. It becomes even more
valuable for countries that want to concur and expand into foreign land. Such an expansion would
require individuals with not only control domestically, but militarily. Men of this caliber have existed
in human history and they have used their predecessors as examples to build upon. In France s long
history, no other leader has made an impact on their history than Napoleon Bonaparte. He s known

He would do so through the practice of curry favors. Grateful of his work, the French government
granted the Bonaparte family with financial benefits to send little Napoleon to school for a proper
education at the military college of Brienne. Seeing a Third Estate member being accepted to a
Military Academy was something unheard of.
This move suited Napoleon well. From a very young age, he had a fondness in the art of war. This is
the same man who would later coin that same phrase Art of War . Once he was of age, Napoleon was
enrolled into the Brienne le Chateau Military Academy where he would learn in the art of
Mathematics, Latin, History, Geography, Physics, Weaponry, Fencing and many other expectable
subjects when it came to a royal education of military. Early on, Napoleon s experiences at Brienne
were quite different than most who attending the Academy. Due to his early maturation in
mathematics, Napoleon was granted the right to enroll ahead of time for his upper level classes
because the Academy felt it would be best to challenge the young Bonaparte. It is very likely that this
is where Napoleon grew very fond of not only Geometry but also the importance of geography and
map making. This is where young Napoleon would see why anything around him could be used in
many ways. It was also here where some at the Academy actually recommended that he d become an
engineer because of his understanding of empty space. As he furthered

Realism In International Relations
Realism is not a new concept. Classical Realism has its roots firmly placed in ancient Greece at the
time of Thucydides where in the History of the Poloponneasean War he wrote The strong do what they
have the power to do, the weak accept what they have to accept (Thucydides 1972: 402).
Thucydides is thought to explain the role of power within politics at this early stage (Donelly, 2000)
through to the time of Machiavelli in the 16th Century. Stanley Hoffman is quoted as saying that the
theory is ...probably the most distinguished school of thought in the history of international relations
(Hoffman, 1988 p.6). Whilst Realism, as a concept, has helped to define International Relations by
fostering the notion that power is the only political gain to be wanted, Robert Gilpin sees it as a ...
philosophical disposition and set of assumptions about the world rather than as in any strict sense a
scientific theory (Gilpin, 1984 p. 290). Realists are unified in believing that Power and survival is
fundamentally the most desired thing between the universal actors: The States. The theory is built on a
basis of pessimism and that that politics is a tussle for both power and survival and labels politics on
an international scale as a series of recurrent conflicts among states with very little prospect for
change (Jackson and Sorensen, 2007). Whilst there are similarities which bind the different veins of
realism together, this essay will look at those different veins within the

Boo Radley Qualities
Scout lives in a neighborhood where everyone s opinions, how they act and their appearances labels
them. This is shown partly through chapters 4 6 of To Kill A Mockingbird. One day, as Scout is
returning from school alone, she notices two pieces of gum in the knothole of a tree on the Radley s
lawn. She takes it, but Jem rebukes her for doing so. On the last day of school, they discover two coins
in the same knothole and choose to keep it. The children and even the neighborhood labels Boo
Radley as a monster just because he doesn t adhere to Maycomb s orthodox lifestyle. Rather, he stays
inside his house. Hence, the neighborhood has a lot of myths about him which Scout and Jem
obviously believe considering they re still children. This is why when Scout eats the chewing gum

The Role Of Dhs And Its Political Environment
It is the responsibility of the Government to provide security to its people. The Department of
Homeland Security DHS was formed after the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. Before the attacks,
independent agencies handled homeland security. The DHS was formed to have most of these
agencies work together under one management to secure America.
This paper will argue the role of DHS and its political environment and how it achieves its goals of
protecting America by working within its current environment. The political environment of DHS is
Majoritarian where both the benefits and the costs are spread over most or all of the population and
the agency is able to perform in that certain environment.
Agency:
The creation of DHS was the result of the tragic events of 9/11. The department was formed in 2002
and is a combination of twenty two agencies. Some of the prominent ones are, The Transportation
Security Administration (TSA), U.S. Secret Service, U.S. Coast Guard, and the U.S. Citizenship and
Immigration Service (USCIS). The President of United States appoints the secretary to oversee the
work of DHS.
The Political Environment and the Distribution of Costs and Benefits:
Homeland Security is a highly decentralized activity
The Federal Government cannot do the job of securing America by itself. The state and local
governments and the private sector are all involved in the process. Government s responsibility is to
minimize terrorist threats, reduce the cost of any attacks, and

Essay On The Second Red Scare
The First Red Scare
A Red Scare is known as the promotion of fear of a potential rise of communism (a political theory
where in society property is owned publically and every single person that works is paid according to
their abilities and needs) or radical leftism (a synonym for farthest left of the left wing politics). The
First Red Scare was mainly about the worker revolution and political radicalism (political principles

McCarthyism occurred along side with the increase of the popular fear of communist espionage

In March 1947, the President Harry S. Truman signed Executive Order 9835, which created the

Comparing And Contrasting Cultures Essay

Comparing Cultures
October 21, 2017
Comparing Cultures
When comparing cultures, one must form a definition of what culture is. Culture can be easily defined
as the social behavior and normality s found in human societies. It can also be easily made up of a
composed arrangement of educated conduct and thought designs. Culture is a sorted out framework
since it includes many parts. Throughout the world, there are many cultures that are both very
different and also very similar. Culture encompasses religion, food, what we wear, how we wear it, our
language, marriage, music, what we believe is right or wrong, how we sit at table, how we greet
visitors, how we behave and one million other things. (Cristina De Rossi.) ... Show more content on

In people, culture must be learned through experiences. For most countries, learned behaviors are
passed down from one generation to the next. The purpose behind this is on the grounds that culture
isn t natural like in creatures because they are not conceived with it. People will begin to get their way
of life during childbirth and it takes numerous years to take in the way of life like how to talk the
dialect and comply with the rules that everyone must follow, that is the reason it is said we should
respect their elders.
The two countries that we are going to compare are India and China. The greatest contrast among
Indian China is the level of development in both nations. Advancement can be seeing more in India
than in China and the struck me the most. There could be many variables causing this distinction. To
begin with, let s examine the differences in the government of meat country. Since the meaning of
time, the Chinese government is continuing to do things their way heavily influencing what happens
in the country. They have inumerous laws that directly or indirectly cause a standstill with innovation.
The majority of the things our state possessed in China bus to begin something intends to first get
every one of the clearances from the government, which is extremely troublesome. Conversely, Indian
government advances development by

Normal red blood cells live in the bloodstream for about 120 days and then die, whereas sickle shaped
blood cells typically last for about 10 to 20 days and the bone marrow cannot make new red blood
cells fast enough to replace the dying ones (What is Sickle Cell Anaemia, 2012). Sickle cell anaemia is
existent at birth, but many babies do not start showing symptoms until after 4 months of age (What are
the signs and symptoms of Sickle Cell Anaemia, 2012). The signs and symptoms that a person will
experience from sickle cell anaemia are caused by the sickling of red blood cells. Painful episodes can
occur when the sickle red blood cells get stuck in small blood vessels due to them being so stiff,
causing organ damage in the kidneys, spleen, lungs and brain (Greenberg Ph.D., Sickle Cell Disease,
2015). Other signs and symptoms of the disease include:  Fatigue  Shortness of breath  Dizziness
 Headaches  Coldness in the hands and feet  Paler than normal skin  Jaundice (yellowish
colour of the skin or whites of the eyes)  Sudden pain throughout the body. This is called sickle
crisis and occurs when the flow of blood is blocked to an area because the sickle cells have been stuck
in a blood vessel. The pain is most commonly felt in the chest, arms and legs.  Splenic sequestration.
This happens when sickle cells start pooling into the spleen. This can be a life threatening crisis if not
treated immediately.  Multiple organ failure  Gallstones  Stroke  Eye

Butler´s Characterization Shori
How could it feel so good when it should be disgusting and painful? (Butler 75) These words spoken
by Theodora, an elderly white woman, about her symbiotic and sometimes sexual relationship with
Shori, a black elfin little girl (Butler 75), express a societal fear that Octavia Butler exposes in her
characterization of Shori as a monster. Jeffrey Jerome Cohen asserts in his Seven Thesis of Monster
Culture that monsters reevaluate our cultural assumptions about race, gender, and sexuality our
perception of difference, and our tolerance toward its expression. (Cohen) Shori is a monster because
her very existence testifies to the blurring of historically concrete lines of difference. She

Butler presents another challenge to ordinary thinking about gender when she presents the Ina as a
matriarchal society. The venom of female Ina is significantly more potent than male venom. In
addition, male Ina become dependent on Female Ina for procreation. Once they re addicted, they aren t
fertile with other females, and from time to time, they need their females (Butler 89). The
characterization of the Ina society as a matriarchy as well as the fact that Ina men are dependent on Ina
women is evidence that the monsters in Fledgling obscure gender roles that are prevalent in traditional
American society.
Shori also challenges society s fears about sexuality by taking sexual liberties with several partners,
old and young, male and female. The first example of othering in Shori s sex life is that she looks like
a ten year old. It is not acceptable in the minds of most people in American society for a child to be
sexual with adults as in the case of Shori and Wright as well as Shori and Joel. Another example is the
homosexual relationship that Shori embarks upon with Theodora, an elderly woman. I whispered to
her, is it good? She moaned a little satisfied sound (Butler 25). Shori and Theodora enjoy a

hard I hit it. I got to school early and sat alone in the cafeteria. Everyone walked in happy with their

him and his friends laugh at me. This kind of stuff makes me angry inside but in reality I can t really

Describe The Process Of Impeachment
When a new president is elected, they must take an oath that contains many large responsibilities. If
the president fails to maintain these responsibilities or abuses his powers, the constitution provides the
House of Representatives with the right to impeach the president. Article one of the United States
Constitution gives them this power. This also gives the Senate the power to try impeachments. State
constitutions contain similar things that allow the state legislature to impeach state officials who are
not doing a good job. The process of impeachment is long and hard, for a president to be impeached,
they have to violate certain things, and there have only been two U.S. presidents impeached.
Impeachment begins in the House of Representatives. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Genetic engineering, artificial intelligence, advanced robotics, virtual realities and online incarnations
of the self are all elements of our globalised, technology saturated world that we are accustomed to. As
a result of these advancements, the question of what constitutes the human has become increasingly
complex, as the traditional boundaries between human and non human have been significantly blurred.
Bio artist Eduardo Kac investigates this post human dilemma by engaging in a new media practice

this way, Piccinini s ideas about biotechnological advancements are viscerally experienced by the
audience whose sensory experience is heightened by the amplified sound of a small animal scurrying
across a path, heard from the television monitors mounted on the back wall. The computer generated

evoking the dizzying pace at which technology is advancing and the implications of genetic

The Ford Motor Company is a global automotive industry. It manufactures and distributes vehicles
across the world. The Firm also owns other automobile brands which include Volvo and Astin Martin
(Ford, 2008: 1). Ford is currently the fourth largest automaker in the world based on number of
vehicles sold annually and is now a market leader in innovation and technology (Ford, 2010). One of
the management challenges that Ford Motor faces is it must be prepared to address the fierce
competition from other companies within and outside the country.
In order to compete, the company must be ahead on cost, quality and service. Also Ford has to
constantly innovate through research and development to create new products. This strategy has
enabled the organisation to achieve its effective goal of survival and profitability by allowing it to
compete not only on the price but also design and quality. This receives academic support from Stoner

Civics Lesson Plan
Elementary Social Studies Methods Summary:
Students will learn about their community s government and leaders. Throughout the lesson, students
will engage in discussions and be visited by an elected local government official. Students will also
conduct their own research to learn more about their local government. Learning Context:
This lesson is designed for third grade and fits in with our community, as our government officials are
part of our local community.
This lesson may require extra time, as our town of Beacon Falls does not have a mayor, which I think
the students would be more familiar with. Instead, the town has a Board of Selectmen. Objectives:
Students will understand how our local government is run.
CCSS CIV 3.1 Students will be able to distinguish the responsibilities and powers of government
officials at various levels and branches of government and in different times and places Rationale:
It is important for students to understand their role as a citizen of the United States. By looking at their
local community, students will be more engaged in learning about how they fit into their local

My long term goal is for students to not only know what roles different leaders play in a democracy,
but for them to understand how they can effect change. This introductory lesson will get this process
started and will allow the class to brainstorm effective ways to create change.

Before Colonisation In Australia
Before Colonisation
Aboriginal culture is the oldest culture in the world, having made ways of managing their land and
society that was sustainable and ensured good health. They have lived in Australia for nearly 60,000
years. While there was significant contact and trade between the diverse races who lived in this
continent, there was no contact, no exchange of cultures or knowledge between Indigenous
Australians and the rest of the world.
Contact Begins
The outside world started to make contact with some Aboriginal groups.People from what is now
called Indonesia made trade relations with people of the north.Later when European colonists made
contact, some of it was positive for Aboriginal people including sharing technology.Other aspects ...

However, at a state government level Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people still face
discrimination.
Rights for voting
The Commonwealth Electoral Act is amended to give the vote to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait
Islander people at federal elections. The Act provides that Indigenous people should have the right to
enrol and vote at federal elections but enrolment was not compulsory. Despite this amendment, it is
illegal under Commonwealth legislation to encourage Indigenous people to enrol to vote. Western
Australia extends the state vote to Aboriginal people. Three years later Queensland became the last
state to give Indigenous people the right to vote in state elections.
After a decade long campaign by Indigenous and non Indigenous people working side by side to move
the nation forward, a referendum held in May 1967.It was the most successful this nation has ever

Description Of The Age Of Viability
Samuel Joseph
Worksheet #2
1. Describe the age of viability .
By 21 to 22 weeks after fertilization, the lungs gain some room to breathe air. This is called the age of
viability because survival outside the womb becomes possible for some fetuses.
2. Describe some of the rapid growth that takes place during the first two years of life.
Growth is speedy during the first two years of life. The child s mass, form, senses, and organs undergo
change. As each physical change occurs, the child gains new abilities. Physical development during
the first year of the child s life, mainly involves the infant coordinating motor skills. The infant builds
physical strength and motor coordination by repeating several motor actions.
3. When was the last time that you saw an infant? Describe what the baby was doing.
The last time I seen an infant was when I was at my uncle house before I left for school. Although it
was quiet and not making any noise the baby was very observant and was aware when I came in the
room. He had his pacifier and I picked him up to play with him briefly before I left.
4. Briefly describe the most frequent activity that an infant does. Now...take your own sleep quiz and
see if you are sleep deprived.
The most frequent activity an infant does is cry and babble. Crying is almost an automatic thing when
it comes to infants, you really have to be able to understand the reason in which they are crying for
and act on it.
5. Briefly describe the growth of the infant brain

Ethnography of Basketball Fan Culture
Ethnography of Basketball Fan Culture Part 1 Introduction As a basketball fanatic, I choose to
investigate how fan culture surrounding basketball has grown and has become such a fan oriented
league. Basketball has expanded and has become a global phenomenon allowing fans to interact with
athletes and change the way fans watch basketball through social media. Being a basketball fan where
you could only watch your favorite teams games on television and listen on the radio to now being
able to stream live games online with your laptop, phone, tablet, etc. There was a time players could
only show their personalities by interviews and newspaper but with social media exposure, fans get to
see their favorite basketball in another way from just seeing them on the court. In a way, fans feel
more attached to a player having to interact with a certain player on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram
rather then just reading about them, they get a first hand experience.
Part 2 Review Of Literature NBA fan culture and its interactions with players have revolutionized the
league over the years. Fans only had the ability to either watch on TV or go see the game but now with
Twitter, Facebook and Instagram accounts, there s a whole new way for fans to interact with athletes
and stay connected. A paradigm shift has taken place in the American culture where fans feel a need
for instant gratification. Social media now allows fans to fill their need without needing

Biography of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
Although Sir Arthur Conan Doyle is often regarded as just an author, he was much more. His works
were inspired by the times and the people he met, and his literary influence remains relevant today. On
May 22, 1859 Arthur Ignatius Conan Doyle was born in Edinburgh, Scotland to Charles and Mary
Doyle. He was their third child, and one of ten children all together. Charles Doyle was a political
cartoonist and civil servant who earned only £300 per year, so money was very tight in the household.
Partially due to his father s alcoholism and mental instability, he and Charles weren t ever close.
However, he and his mother were. Mary was passionate about books and was a gifted storyteller.

Arthur wrote a short story entitled The Mystery of Sasassa Valley, and it was accepted in the Chamber

published in London Society. He said, It was in this year that I first learned that shillings might be
earned in other ways than by filling phials. When Arthur turned 20 he was offered a job as surgeon on
the whaling boat Hope. He loved the adventure and camaraderie on the barge saying, I went on board
the whaler a big straggling youth, I came off a powerful well grown man. and that the arctic awakened
the soul of a born wanderer. These experiences influenced the story Captain of the Pole Star. He went
back to the university in 1880 and acquired his Bachelor of Medicine and his Master of Surgery
degree. Then he went on the Mayumba, serving as ship s surgeon again, for his first gainful
employment. It navigated between Liverpool and the West Coast of Africa. He found Africa detestable
and quite as soon as they were back in England. Facing the prospect of having to file for bankruptcy,
he moved to Portsmouth to open his first practice. He struggled with trying to be a good doctor and

Gloria Steinem Believing In The True Self Summary
In Believing in the True Self, Gloria Steinem points out that something we are born with is different
from the others. Even though it might not be something fancy, we still have to admit to it because it is
the only way to find your true self and admit it. She asserts that we are proud of ourselves when we
believe in our true self. On the other hand, we might doubt ourselves all the time if we don t believe in
our true self. I totally agree with her ideas. Her first idea seems to me that negative thoughts can easily
change a person. For instance, I want to become a famous singer. However, someone keeps telling me
that I can t do it well, or I never succeed in this way. I probably start to think about those negative
comments. Even though I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also, it must be something that we are interested. Because we are always willing to spend our time on
what we are interested instead of something we are forced to do, we always do it well. I think she
wants us to pursue what we want instead of what the others want. For example, I chose a major that I
wasn t interested at the beginning. My parents hoped that I could become an engineer, so they forced
me to choose engineering. I had to take courses that were advanced mathematics. Because math made
me feel anxious and nervous when I was solving a math problem, I definitely hated math. I struggled
finishing math homework and attending math class. I started to cut my math class. Due to that, I got
an F on the first exam in my calculus class. I started to think about what I really wanted to do instead
of what my parents wanted me to do, so I planned to change my major to biology. I had decided to
become a doctor because I wanted to make my childhood ambition come true. Since I had figured out
my goal, I enjoyed attending all my classes, and I got good grades. We don t have much time in our
life, so we should choose something we want to do instead of something the others want me to do. It is
really painful to do something you are not

Power Struggle In The Film Terms Of Endearment
The three films that I have chosen all have a power struggle between the mother and daughter. First,
Terms of Endearment (1983) directed by James L. Brook, is about a complex mother daughter
relationship. In this movie, the mother, Aurora (Shirley MacLaine) has always had a peculiar way of
how she was affectionate and caring for her daughter. Aurora goes out of her way to assure herself that
her daughter is safe. The movie actually started off with Aurora climbing into the baby s crib to make
sure the baby was breathing and alive. She wasn t the most ordinary mother out there when it came to
showing her feelings; it was always a bit too much to handle. After the death of her husband, Aurora

years they spent apart from each other, they both came together for support during Emma s crisis.

Some scientists are now researching all the possible solutions and steps to be taken in order to stop it.
We can not prevent it anymore because it is already happening. All we can do is to find a way to
lessen the possible cause that is making it worse day by day.
I. The era of procrastination, of half measures, of soothing and baffling expedients of delay are

Cormac Mccarthy The Road Evil
Currently, it seems that popular literature is filled with post apocalyptic novels. These books
sometimes venture into the fantasy and sci fi genres, but always they portray the author s idea of what
humanity could look like after the world as we know it has ended. More importantly, they serve as
mirrors for the vices currently plaguing society, demonstrating how these faults metastasize into major
forces of evil when placed in the context of desperate circumstances. The Road, Cormac McCarthy s
harrowing description of a father son pair slogging through the desolation of an unknown apocalypse,
is no exception. McCarthy sets himself apart by emphasizing the nature of good and evil, utilizing
flawless prose, and relentlessly confronting the reader with the inescapability of mortality. Truly, The
Road is a brutally honest commentary on humanity s capacity for cruelty and the never ending
struggle towards goodness.
From the very onset of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Is humankind inherently evil? McCarthy s answer to this question seems to be a resounding yes . In
the absence of accountability and any semblance of society, the remainder of the population has
elected that the only rule is every man for himself . Can the reader truly blame them, though? The
more desperate and frightened a person is, the less they rational and selfless they tend to be in their
decision making. In the wake of a world destroying disaster, is there any point in maintaining any
behaviors that do not immediately contribute to survival? Is compassion still relevant in a barren
world? The father, much more practical and pessimistic than his boy, seems to struggle with this
philosophical debate. Contrary to this, they boy maintains his position of beautiful, and perhaps futile,
love for other living things. He is the defender of lost humanity. How ironic that the only species
capable of evil uses its own name, humanity, as a synonym for goodness and

Gattullo (2000) conducted a case study on formative assessment in English language teaching

assessment in their classroom. Gattullo focused on children classes and reported the methods used. He
adapted a formative assessment framework which consists of nine categories: Questioning/ eliciting,

Common Sense And The Crisis Paper By Thomas Paine
In Thomas Paine s pamphlet, Common Sense, he explains that the British government has broken its
contract with the American people by quartering their troops in the Americans homes and by unjustly
raising taxes, therefore requiring that the colonies secede from Britain. On the other hand, Paine s The
Crisis Papers serve to boost the morale of George Washington s Continental Army by using dramatic
and emotive language. Paine s differing tones in Common Sense and The Crisis Paper is a direct
reflection of their respective audiences: the former utilizes both pathos and logos to influence all
Americans, while the latter primarily uses pathos to affect the revolutionary forces. Common Sense
and The Crisis Papers share an overlying theme of monarchy, especially Britain s, being an
unnecessary evil that must be removed from society. In both works, Paine portrays England s King
George III as the reason for all the colonies struggles, falsely claiming that the British had unrightfully
raised taxes and that he had no intention of restoring the relationship between the colonies and their
mother country as there was an ever growing number of British soldiers ... Show more content on

Race and ethnicity are two completely different things. In my opinion race is not even an actual thing.
The only way I could see race as something such as, the human race . But trying to label someone by
what they look like or where they come from is definitely a part of ethnic backgrounds. Some factors
that contributed to the success of change in Civil Rights legislation were that nonviolent protests as
well as civil disobedience were used to bring about change in the society. The government created
initiatives like the Civil Rights Act of 1968 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965. There were many
leaders within the black community that put themselves at risk, and even lost their lives in the name of
freedom and standing up for the equality they wanted to see happen. The movie The Negro Soldier
was a very inspirational film that has changed the attitudes of many. This film was used to try and get
black soldiers to enlist in the army and fight in the war. The film also portrayed blacks in very
professional fields in society, such as lawyers, athletes, and other professions. In other movies in this

Voter Registration And The Presidential Elections
With the current presidential elections approaching soon, there is plenty of political activity going on
in our communities. Many people follow the presidential elections and listen to what these candidates
have to say, however, there are other elections going on in our own communities that also have a big
impact on us. We sometimes tend to forget about our local candidates and at times ignore what they
have to offer for us. I, myself, am able to relate to this. I decided to take action and go out to a local
community to do voter registration with the hope that people would not only register, but also go out
on November 8 and vote. A lot of people often hear the saying that our vote doesn t count. This tends
to discourage eligible voters from going out and voting. I went out and asked a few friends and family
members about the things that come to mind when they hear the word vote . Being that we are in 2016
and this is a presidential election year, most of them responded by saying that choosing a president or
a leader came to mind. I also asked if they had plans to vote this November 8th, about half of them
said they would vote, the other half split. Some stated that they wouldn t vote because they have the
idea that their vote doesn t count or because they weren t registered to vote. Before deciding to get
involved in voter registration, I was one of those people that did not have much interest in voting.

Functions Of The Synapse Of Neurological Functioning
Functioning The connection between neurons is essential for neurological function. Interaction
between two neurons is called the synapse. In order for the synapse to operate, an action potential
must first happen. If one does not work, then the whole neurological function will not, which will
eventually lead to humans not working at all as a whole. This paper will look into the two following
subjects in Neurological Functioning:
1. Action Potential
2. The Synapse
Understanding the roles of the action potential and synapse will help the reader s have a sense of
knowledge in the subject to fully understand the it s tasks are and how they play an essential role in
the everyday life.
Action Potential Before we discuss the role of the synapse in neurological functioning, we must first
understand the action potential. According to researchers O Donnell and Van Rossum (2015), an
action potential occurs when a neuron sends information down an axon, away from the body cell
(p.801). They stated that, Action potential rely crucially on the voltage gated channels in the neural
membrane (p.801). The classic experiment by Alan Hodgkin and Andrew Huxley describe how small
depolarization s of the membrane makes the Na (sodium) channels open
(as cited in Freberg, 2015, p.81). This causes the ion flux to further depolarize the membrane. Once
this happens, the action potential has been activated which is then terminated by the hyperpolarizing K
(potassium) channels that follow the

Example Of Cultural Illiteracy
Cultural Illiteracy in Conversation It was not until I stepped into high school, a completely new
environment for the first time in three years, that I truly analyzed the many worldwide issues that
caused fierce debates and divided countries. It was not much later that I noticed the absurd amount of
apathy and close mindedness that was so concretely planted into these issues. I was left wondering, in
vehement anger, where this intolerance and ignorance stemmed from, but, now, it is quite clear the
main perpetrator is cultural illiteracy. Cultural illiteracy promotes ignorance and a reliance on opinions
as facts, resulting in polarizing nationwide conversations. Cultural illiteracy can be divided into
numerous factors that narrow its complexity and make it easier to dissect, one of those factors being
the school curricula that fail to highlight aspects of certain subjects, sending students out of the doors
lacking knowledge on pertinent topics. School has failed countless children, dooming them to the
same penury as their parents because of a fragmented curriculum. Economics, a class that should be
vast and encompass the entire social class spectrum, hardly discusses the hardships those in poverty
face and the reasons they may have ended up in that situation. And because economics does not teach

Characteristics Of Holden Caulfield A Modern Day Hero
In J.D Salinger s novel, The Catcher in the Rye, protagonist and narrator Holden Caulfield is the
quintessential anti hero who at times displays elements of traditional heroic qualities. Caulfield, a
troubled teenager, has been expelled from multiple prep schools and faces difficulties with fitting
anywhere in society. He is notorious for being impulsive, cynical, skeptical, and quite aloof at times.
Because of his cynicism and judgmental nature, Holden finds it difficult to make friends. This feeling
of alienation leads Holden to blame the people around him and describe them as phony and artificial.
For the most part, Holden does not possess the traits of a typical modern day hero because he lacks
physical and mental strength, is unable to adhere to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Holden appears to be feeble and impetuous when he attacks Stradlater for not describing his date with
Jane, a girl Holden adores. Stradlater throws Holden onto the floor with ease and punches him until
his face bleeds. Additionally, Holden admits to being a habitual liar, demonstrating that he has low
moral scruples. He boasts, I m the most terrific liar you ever saw in your life. It s awful. If I m on the
way to the store to buy a magazine, even, and somebody asks me where I m going, I m liable to say I
m going to the opera, (Salinger 22). Holden s lack of physical strength coupled with his dishonesty
shows that he does not possess heroic qualities. Holden also lacks courage, which is uncharacteristic
of a true hero. A self described coward, Holden states, It s no fun being yellow. Maybe I m not all
yellow... I think I m partly yellow... (Salinger 117). Holden displays his lack of courage many times
through out the novel. He admits he would not try to fight for his stolen gloves, from an unknown
thief, should the situation arise. He is also afraid to face Maurice, the pimp, after being punched in the

The Jackhammer Syndrome Poem Analysis
Society s conventions teach that immoderate desires are unappealing manifestations of basal instincts
that individuals must learn to control. However, a certain sense of liberating freedom is also attached
to the idea of living in uninhibited by the guidelines that society imposes. The Jackhammer Syndrome
, a poem by Al Purdy, and Susan Orlean s The Orchid Thief present two different narratives
concerning the pursuit of personal desire and deal with the consequences that ensue from this
behavior. Their characters experiences suggest that the unchecked pursuit of personal desires, at the
expense of conformity within society, does not produce lasting gratification. The Jackhammer
Syndrome is narrated by an individual who recounts various memorable events in his life. He
mentions such instances as hide and seek and run sheep run/in my old hometown/where the kid was
pretty funny and swimming across a river meeting a girl halfway/along the wet footpath and going/on
together to the other/side for an hour doing/nothing dizzily balanced in the moment. These memories,
which seem ordinary and pleasant, are described by the narrator in a way that causes the reader to
question his true feelings towards them. Throughout the entire poem, the author does not use a single
mark of punctuation, dividing thoughts according to verse instead. However, the more the narrator
reminisces, the less coherent the verses become, combining multiple ideas that lack an obvious
connection. These

The poem, God’s Grandeur by Gerard Manley Hopkins is an...
The poem, God s Grandeur by Gerard Manley Hopkins is an Italian sonnet, which closely follows the
traditional Italian rhyme of ABBAABBA, and then CDCDCD. (Shmoop) There are also several words
throughout the poem that rhyme within themselves. For example God, rod, trod, shod all rhyme.
Gerard Hopkins liked to use sprung rhythm in which the stressed and unstressed syllables have a
complicated relationship, and the message desired from the reader can change the rhythm. (Shmoop)
Sprung rhythm allows each person to read the poem differently and take away what they wish. The
speaker of this poem has lost faith in humanity and their treatment of the world God had granted us.
However, in the second half of the poem, the speaker shows his views of the world and its connection
to God.
In the first stanza of God s Grandeur, the speaker is amazed at the greatness of God. However, he is
dismayed by the way people treat God s creation. God himself directed humans to care for their world.
Genesis 2:15 says, The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take
care of it. (Genesis) Mankind s treatment of the Earth obviously did not measure up to the standard
that the speaker has envisioned. This is clearly visible in lines four through seven, Why do men then
now not reck his rod? Generations have trod, have trod, have trod; and all is seared with trade;
bleared, smeared with toil; and wears man s smudge and shares man s smell. (God s) The

Weapons Used In Vince Flynn s Transfer Of Power
In the world there are billions of rifles and other weapons that are owned by the right people.
Sometimes we are not so lucky and bad people get weapons that they should never have received. In
the book Transfer Of Power by Vince Flynn a few of those not so nice people are in charge of
weapons and other big places. A terroristic group from Iran takes control of the White House and
abuses everyone inside and out with their demands. That is until one brave soul is chasing down the
leader Rafique Aziz. There are a few main objects that should be brought to their attention first.
Number one communication devices are critical; number two weapons need to be used to take it back,
and number three the human mind. Communication devices can be very critical ... Show more content

Sometimes these weapons are being used for the wrong reasons, which in turn may cost some people
their lives. Weapons, especially guns and knives are playing a huge role in the book Transfer Of
Power. Guns and knives are Mitch Rapp s key for success in the world of war. He has to be able to
shoot and stab simultaneously to be able to survive. Guns a more of a longer range weapon that are
used to kill a little faster and be able to kill more people. A knife is used to be more of a silent weapon.
One that is deadly and silent, one that know one can hear. Weapons are used a lot in this book. The
first sign is when the terrorist group is taking the White House. They use RPG s and different sub
machine guns to take down the house and into their control. After that weapons are used as often as a
girl will do their hair☺. Different kinds of weapons are used for different occasions, on this occasion
a knife was the most lethal: The MP 10 Was on the ground in the corner an had been replaced by the
silenced 9 mm Beretta (Flynn 313). Most weapons are used in crisis situations like this one. It is
important to use it right and to use it fast to not attract any attention to oneself. One of the most lethal
weapons may just be the human

Dbr Case
Based on the information in this case analysis, what are the types of threats DBR may be facing?
DBR is facing various kinds of threats like one from its competitors who could try to steal the
intellectual property of DBR and other from the advanced hackers who may be against the offshore oil
drilling projects and could target DBR for their role in those projects.
Corporate Theft Sabotage
Recently DBR released their advanced robotic prototype at an international tradeshow. Industry
experts have termed this prototype as the most advanced robotic system and also suggest that this
prototype is at least 5 years ahead of what DBR s competition has to offer. Because of this reason,
DBR fear that their competitors could try and steal their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Espionage through advanced persistent threat (APT)
Advanced persistent threat (APT) is most critical information security threat. Competitor companies
could try such attacks with intent of having ongoing access to DBR s research data. In these attacks,
the data is not damaged or deleted, but is stolen without raising any alarms. This is the most advanced
and critical threat because with APT attacks, competitors can have unrestricted access to DBR s
network and data for as long as they desire.
Corporate Theft Sabotage
The threat which DBR is facing from its competitors is another significant threat. Before the launch of
the new prototype robot, DBR s competitors had an upper hand in the market which they lost once the
DBR announced their new prototype. Network attacks from the DBR s competitors could be aimed at
either at stealing the intellectual property so that they can again get in front in the robotics market or
those attacks could be for damaging or corrupting the research data so that DBR is not able to function
as efficiently. Such network attacks are also capable of damaging the company s infrastructure.
Competitor s intent behind these threats is straightforward, they want to get ahead in the market either
by stealing the information from DBR or by hampering DBR s functioning through data and
infrastructure damage.
Sabotage Information extortion
Environment hacktivists may attack the network of DBR with

The Pros And Cons Of The Collective Bargaining Process
The NLRB regulates and determines whether or not an employer has committed an unlawful act of
unfair labor practices during the collective bargaining negotiation process (Holley, Wolters Ross,
2012). During the collective bargaining process the labor union and the employer try to hash out labor
relations differences. The goal is for a positive resolution of labor relations disputes between
employers and employees. Positive labor relations are good for the economy and for the consumers.
Settlement of these difference also create a positive working relationship between the employees and
management and avoids work stoppages or economic losses. The collective bargaining process allows
for mandatory and permissive subjects to be part of the collective bargaining process (Sockell
Delaney, 1986). Section 9 of the NLRA states that issues such as wages, employment terms and
workplace conditions are required subject during the collective bargaining negotiation process
(McManemin, 1962). All these actions during the collective bargaining process must done in good
faith. Good faith means that the either side in the process meets at a reasonable time to discuss all the
mandatory and mutually agreed upon permissive subjects. If the issue is considered permissive the
employer is not required to negotiate these issues during the bargaining process. Since the language in
the law of the NLRA does explicitly state which issues are mandatory or permissive so these issues
have been

It seemed very peculiar then. My parents would tell me, Let your body do its own job. After many years of studying biology, anatomy, and toxicology, I am continually fascinated by what our bodies are capable of. I realized our bodies are stronger and smarter than we know; this has led me to apply for osteopathic medical education. The University of Pikeville Kentucky College of Osteopathic Medicine (KYCOM) has maintained very strong, specific aims throughout many years. • 3. Sistine Chapel Essay Michelangelo undertook the painting of the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel during the High Renaissance. The height of the rebirth of Classical thought in Europe. The atmosphere of the time period and even its name, translating to rebirth , can be seen in the program of the frescoes decorating the ceiling of the chapel. The central panels are scenes from the book of Genesis. They deal with God s creation of earth and man, the fall of man and the story of Noah. In fictive spandrels, Michelangelo placed nude youths among prophets and sybils, ancient Greek seers. In the Catholic tradition, sybils are thought to have foretold the coming of Christ. The scenes of from Genesis were chosen because they represented the birth of humanity. During the Renaissance ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the Catholic religion, Jesus is seen as the antidote to the fall of man, like how the Renaissance was seen as the antidote to the Gothic period. The story represented the religious motivations of the patron, Pope Julius II. As a religious leader, it would make sense that Julius II would be interested in including tenets of the Catholic church in the frescoes of the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. Other elements of the ceiling, mainly the fictive architecture, the inclusion of pagan elements and Michaelangelo s attention to the human figure represent the humanist interests of Pope Julius II. Humanism is based on the principles of Classical Roman and Greek philosophy. In the Renaissance, Humanist values are often portrayed in motifs and design elements that relate to the Classical world. For example, the inclusion of the sybils in the frescoes from the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. Syblis are female Greek seers. They are pagan, their inclusion on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel and the mythology that Catholics created around them, that they foretold the coming of Christ, was a way to bring together Classical religion with ... Antoine Henri, Baron De Jominin Leadership is a powerful thing when it comes to the survival of a nation. It becomes even more valuable for countries that want to concur and expand into foreign land. Such an expansion would require individuals with not only control domestically, but militarily. Men of this caliber have existed in human history and they have used their predecessors as examples to build upon. Grateful of his work, the French government granted the Bonaparte family with financial benefits to send little Napoleon to school for a proper education at the military college of Brienne. Seeing a Third Estate member being accepted to a Military Academy was something unheard of. This move suited Napoleon well. From a very young age, he had a fondness in the art of war. This is the same man who would later coin that same phrase Art of War . Once he was of age, Napoleon was enrolled into the Brienne le Chateau Military Academy where he would learn in the art of Mathematics, Latin, History, Geography, Physics, Weaponry, Fencing and many other expectable subjects when it came to a royal education of military. Early on, Napoleon s experiences at Brienne were quite different than most who attending the Academy. Due to his early maturation in mathematics, Napoleon was granted the right to enroll ahead of time for his upper level classes because the Academy felt it would be best to challenge the young Bonaparte. It is very likely that this is where Napoleon grew very fond of not only Geometry but also the importance of geography and map making. This is where young Napoleon would see why anything around him could be used in many ways. It was also here where some at the Academy actually recommended that he d become an engineer because of his understanding of empty space. As he furthered ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Realism In International Relations Realism is not a new concept. Classical Realism has its roots firmly placed in ancient Greece at the time of Thucydides where in the History of the Poloponneasean War he wrote The strong do what they have the power to do, the weak accept what they have to accept (Thucydides 1972: 402). Thucydides is thought to explain the role of power within politics at this early stage (Donelly, 2000) through to the time of Machiavelli in the 16th Century. Stanley Hoffman is quoted as saying that the theory is ...probably the most distinguished school of thought in the history of international relations (Hoffman, 1988 p.6). Whilst Realism, as a concept, has helped to define International Relations by fostering the notion that power is the only political gain to be wanted, Robert Gilpin sees it as a ... philosophical disposition and set of assumptions about the world rather than as in any strict sense a scientific theory (Gilpin, 1984 p. 290). Realists are unified in believing that Power and survival is fundamentally the most desired thing between the universal actors: The States. The theory is built on a basis of pessimism and that that politics is a tussle for both power and survival and labels politics on an international scale as a series of recurrent conflicts among states with very little prospect for change (Jackson and Sorensen, 2007). She takes it, but Jem rebukes her for doing so. On the last day of school, they discover two coins in the same knothole and choose to keep it. The children and even the neighborhood labels Boo Radley as a monster just because he doesn t adhere to Maycomb s orthodox lifestyle. Rather, he stays inside his house. The Department of Homeland Security DHS was formed after the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. Before the attacks, independent agencies handled homeland security. The computer generated transgenic animal then runs from screen to screen too rapidly for audiences to observe its mutation, evoking the dizzying pace at which technology is advancing and the implications of genetic engineering on the body. Being that we are in 2016 and this is a presidential election year, most of them responded by saying that choosing a president or a leader came to mind. I also asked if they had plans to vote this November 8th, about half of them said they would vote, the other half split. Some stated that they wouldn t vote because they have the idea that their vote doesn t count or because they weren t registered to vote. Before deciding to get involved in voter registration, I was one of those people that did not have much interest in voting. Prior to joining a voter registration team, I myself wasn t sure ... • 39. Functions Of The Synapse Of Neurological Functioning Functioning The connection between neurons is essential for neurological function. Interaction between two neurons is called the synapse. In order for the synapse to operate, an action potential must first happen. If one does not work, then the whole neurological function will not, which will eventually lead to humans not working at all as a whole. This paper will look into the two following subjects in Neurological Functioning: 1. Action Potential 2. The Synapse Understanding the roles of the action potential and synapse will help the reader s have a sense of knowledge in the subject to fully understand the it s tasks are and how they play an essential role in the everyday life. Action Potential Before we discuss the role of the synapse in neurological functioning, we must first understand the action potential. According to researchers O Donnell and Van Rossum (2015), an action potential occurs when a neuron sends information down an axon, away from the body cell (p.801). They stated that, Action potential rely crucially on the voltage gated channels in the neural membrane (p.801). The classic experiment by Alan Hodgkin and Andrew Huxley describe how small depolarization s of the membrane makes the Na (sodium) channels open (as cited in Freberg, 2015, p.81). This causes the ion flux to further depolarize the membrane. Once this happens, the action potential has been activated which is then terminated by the hyperpolarizing K (potassium) channels that follow the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 40. Example Of Cultural Illiteracy Cultural Illiteracy in Conversation It was not until I stepped into high school, a completely new environment for the first time in three years, that I truly analyzed the many worldwide issues that caused fierce debates and divided countries. It was not much later that I noticed the absurd amount of apathy and close mindedness that was so concretely planted into these issues. I was left wondering, in vehement anger, where this intolerance and ignorance stemmed from, but, now, it is quite clear the main perpetrator is cultural illiteracy. Cultural illiteracy promotes ignorance and a reliance on opinions as facts, resulting in polarizing nationwide conversations. Cultural illiteracy can be divided into numerous factors that narrow its complexity and make it easier to dissect, one of those factors being the school curricula that fail to highlight aspects of certain subjects, sending students out of the doors lacking knowledge on pertinent topics. School has failed countless children, dooming them to the same penury as their parents because of a fragmented curriculum. Economics, a class that should be vast and encompass the entire social class spectrum, hardly discusses the hardships those in poverty face and the reasons they may have ended up in that situation. And because economics does not teach students that poverty can strike unexpectedly and even the hardest workers may suffer its fervent force, statements like it s their fault they re poor become accepted. • 43. Characteristics Of Holden Caulfield A Modern Day Hero In J.D Salinger s novel, The Catcher in the Rye, protagonist and narrator Holden Caulfield is the quintessential anti hero who at times displays elements of traditional heroic qualities. Caulfield, a troubled teenager, has been expelled from multiple prep schools and faces difficulties with fitting anywhere in society. He is notorious for being impulsive, cynical, skeptical, and quite aloof at times. Because of his cynicism and judgmental nature, Holden finds it difficult to make friends. This feeling of alienation leads Holden to blame the people around him and describe them as phony and artificial. For the most part, Holden does not possess the traits of a typical modern day hero because he lacks physical and mental strength, is unable to adhere to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Holden appears to be feeble and impetuous when he attacks Stradlater for not describing his date with Jane, a girl Holden adores. Stradlater throws Holden onto the floor with ease and punches him until his face bleeds. Additionally, Holden admits to being a habitual liar, demonstrating that he has low moral scruples. He boasts, I m the most terrific liar you ever saw in your life. It s awful. If I m on the way to the store to buy a magazine, even, and somebody asks me where I m going, I m liable to say I m going to the opera, (Salinger 22). Holden s lack of physical strength coupled with his dishonesty shows that he does not possess heroic qualities. Holden also lacks courage, which is uncharacteristic of a true hero. A self described coward, Holden states, It s no fun being yellow. Maybe I m not all yellow... I think I m partly yellow... (Salinger 117). Holden displays his lack of courage many times through out the novel. He admits he would not try to fight for his stolen gloves, from an unknown thief, should the situation arise. He is also afraid to face Maurice, the pimp, after being punched in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. The Jackhammer Syndrome Poem Analysis Society s conventions teach that immoderate desires are unappealing manifestations of basal instincts that individuals must learn to control. However, a certain sense of liberating freedom is also attached to the idea of living in uninhibited by the guidelines that society imposes. The Jackhammer Syndrome , a poem by Al Purdy, and Susan Orlean s The Orchid Thief present two different narratives concerning the pursuit of personal desire and deal with the consequences that ensue from this behavior. Their characters experiences suggest that the unchecked pursuit of personal desires, at the expense of conformity within society, does not produce lasting gratification. The Jackhammer Syndrome is narrated by an individual who recounts various memorable events in his life. He mentions such instances as hide and seek and run sheep run/in my old hometown/where the kid was pretty funny and swimming across a river meeting a girl halfway/along the wet footpath and going/on together to the other/side for an hour doing/nothing dizzily balanced in the moment. These memories, which seem ordinary and pleasant, are described by the narrator in a way that causes the reader to question his true feelings towards them. Throughout the entire poem, the author does not use a single mark of punctuation, dividing thoughts according to verse instead. However, the more the narrator reminisces, the less coherent the verses become, combining multiple ideas that lack an obvious connection. These ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. The poem, God’s Grandeur by Gerard Manley Hopkins is an... The poem, God s Grandeur by Gerard Manley Hopkins is an Italian sonnet, which closely follows the traditional Italian rhyme of ABBAABBA, and then CDCDCD. (Shmoop) There are also several words throughout the poem that rhyme within themselves. For example God, rod, trod, shod all rhyme. Gerard Hopkins liked to use sprung rhythm in which the stressed and unstressed syllables have a complicated relationship, and the message desired from the reader can change the rhythm. (Shmoop) Sprung rhythm allows each person to read the poem differently and take away what they wish. The speaker of this poem has lost faith in humanity and their treatment of the world God had granted us. However, in the second half of the poem, the speaker shows his views of the world and its connection to God. In the first stanza of God s Grandeur, the speaker is amazed at the greatness of God. However, he is dismayed by the way people treat God s creation. God himself directed humans to care for their world. Genesis 2:15 says, The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it. (Genesis) Mankind s treatment of the Earth obviously did not measure up to the standard that the speaker has envisioned. This is clearly visible in lines four through seven, Why do men then now not reck his rod? Generations have trod, have trod, have trod; and all is seared with trade; bleared, smeared with toil; and wears man s smudge and shares man s smell. (God s) The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Sometimes we are not so lucky and bad people get weapons that they should never have received. In the book Transfer Of Power by Vince Flynn a few of those not so nice people are in charge of weapons and other big places. A terroristic group from Iran takes control of the White House and abuses everyone inside and out with their demands. That is until one brave soul is chasing down the leader Rafique Aziz. There are a few main objects that should be brought to their attention first. • 47. Dbr Case Based on the information in this case analysis, what are the types of threats DBR may be facing? DBR is facing various kinds of threats like one from its competitors who could try to steal the intellectual property of DBR and other from the advanced hackers who may be against the offshore oil drilling projects and could target DBR for their role in those projects. Corporate Theft Sabotage Recently DBR released their advanced robotic prototype at an international tradeshow. Industry experts have termed this prototype as the most advanced robotic system and also suggest that this prototype is at least 5 years ahead of what DBR s competition has to offer. Because of this reason, DBR fear that their competitors could try and steal their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Espionage through advanced persistent threat (APT) Advanced persistent threat (APT) is most critical information security threat. Competitor companies could try such attacks with intent of having ongoing access to DBR s research data. In these attacks, the data is not damaged or deleted, but is stolen without raising any alarms. This is the most advanced and critical threat because with APT attacks, competitors can have unrestricted access to DBR s network and data for as long as they desire. Corporate Theft Sabotage The threat which DBR is facing from its competitors is another significant threat. Before the launch of the new prototype robot, DBR s competitors had an upper hand in the market which they lost once the DBR announced their new prototype. Network attacks from the DBR s competitors could be aimed at either at stealing the intellectual property so that they can again get in front in the robotics market or those attacks could be for damaging or corrupting the research data so that DBR is not able to function as efficiently. Such network attacks are also capable of damaging the company s infrastructure. Competitor s intent behind these threats is straightforward, they want to get ahead in the market either by stealing the information from DBR or by hampering DBR s functioning through data and infrastructure damage. • 48. The Pros And Cons Of The Collective Bargaining Process The NLRB regulates and determines whether or not an employer has committed an unlawful act of unfair labor practices during the collective bargaining negotiation process (Holley, Wolters Ross, 2012). During the collective bargaining process the labor union and the employer try to hash out labor relations differences. The goal is for a positive resolution of labor relations disputes between employers and employees. Positive labor relations are good for the economy and for the consumers. Settlement of these difference also create a positive working relationship between the employees and management and avoids work stoppages or economic losses. The collective bargaining process allows for mandatory and permissive subjects to be part of the collective bargaining process (Sockell Delaney, 1986). Section 9 of the NLRA states that issues such as wages, employment terms and workplace conditions are required subject during the collective bargaining negotiation process (McManemin, 1962). All these actions during the collective bargaining process must done in good faith. Good faith means that the either side in the process meets at a reasonable time to discuss all the mandatory and mutually agreed upon permissive subjects. If the issue is considered permissive the employer is not required to negotiate these issues during the bargaining process. Since the language in the law of the NLRA does explicitly state which issues are mandatory or permissive so these issues have been ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
