when The American Civil War officially began. Fort Sumter, was one of only two forts in the Southern
states that had seceded still under federal jurisdiction, it was brief and ended on April 14, and rebel
Confederate victory.
Ulysses S. Grant and Robert E. Lee also believed that what they were fighting for was the right thing.

Voter Registration And The Presidential Elections
With the current presidential elections approaching soon, there is plenty of political activity going on
in our communities. Many people follow the presidential elections and listen to what these candidates
have to say, however, there are other elections going on in our own communities that also have a big
impact on us. We sometimes tend to forget about our local candidates and at times ignore what they
have to offer for us. I, myself, am able to relate to this. I decided to take action and go out to a local
community to do voter registration with the hope that people would not only register, but also go out
on November 8 and vote. A lot of people often hear the saying that our vote doesn t count. This tends
to discourage eligible voters from going out and voting. I went out and asked a few friends and family
members about the things that come to mind when they hear the word vote . Being that we are in 2016
and this is a presidential election year, most of them responded by saying that choosing a president or
a leader came to mind. I also asked if they had plans to vote this November 8th, about half of them
said they would vote, the other half split. Some stated that they wouldn t vote because they have the
idea that their vote doesn t count or because they weren t registered to vote. Before deciding to get
involved in voter registration, I was one of those people that did not have much interest in voting.

Cultural Illiteracy in Conversation It was not until I stepped into high school, a completely new
environment for the first time in three years, that I truly analyzed the many worldwide issues that
caused fierce debates and divided countries. It was not much later that I noticed the absurd amount of
apathy and close mindedness that was so concretely planted into these issues. I was left wondering, in

In J.D Salinger s novel, The Catcher in the Rye, protagonist and narrator Holden Caulfield is the
quintessential anti hero who at times displays elements of traditional heroic qualities. Caulfield, a

that individuals must learn to control. However, a certain sense of liberating freedom is also attached

, a poem by Al Purdy, and Susan Orlean s The Orchid Thief present two different narratives
concerning the pursuit of personal desire and deal with the consequences that ensue from this
behavior. Their characters experiences suggest that the unchecked pursuit of personal desires, at the
expense of conformity within society, does not produce lasting gratification. The Jackhammer
Syndrome is narrated by an individual who recounts various memorable events in his life. He

pretty funny and swimming across a river meeting a girl halfway/along the wet footpath and going/on
together to the other/side for an hour doing/nothing dizzily balanced in the moment. These memories,

The NLRB regulates and determines whether or not an employer has committed an unlawful act of
unfair labor practices during the collective bargaining negotiation process (Holley, Wolters Ross,
2012). During the collective bargaining process the labor union and the employer try to hash out labor
relations differences. The goal is for a positive resolution of labor relations disputes between
employers and employees. Positive labor relations are good for the economy and for the consumers.
Settlement of these difference also create a positive working relationship between the employees and
management and avoids work stoppages or economic losses. The collective bargaining process allows
for mandatory and permissive subjects to be part of the collective bargaining process (Sockell
Delaney, 1986). Section 9 of the NLRA states that issues such as wages,employment terms and
workplace conditions are required subject during the collective bargaining negotiation process
(McManemin, 1962). All these actions during the collective bargaining process must done in good
