Reflective Essay On Critical Thinking
Questioning and challenging my assumptions and attitudes about critical thinking is a new process for
me, but I do appreciate that to develop and enhance my assumptions and other mindsets it is an
important undertaking. Looking at what we hold to be true is an endeavor well trenched into us as we
evolved. The real value of critical thinking is that it s been at the root of all human progress
(Rabinowitz, 2015).
Being challenged on my thinking is difficult, but once I got through the difficulty I realized it was for
my betterment as a student and as a teacher. My prior experience as an undergraduate in early
childhood education with Bloom s focused mainly on the cognitive domain and thus I cannot recall
the affective or psychomotor domains being addressed. However, as I began to understand that the
committee identified three domains of educational activities or learning (Bloom, 1956 as cited by
Clark, 2015), I realized that I did have assumptions and that they were being challenged. First of all, I
did assume that Bloom s focus on cognitive development devalues the importance of other domains
and secondly that Bloom s Taxonomy is only used by educators in K 12 and college. Interestingly,
both have since been challenged and changed through my readings as it is important to note that the
most common usage of Bloom s Taxonomy focuses on cognitive learning skills rather than
psychomotor or affective skills, two domains that are crucial to the success of health

Changing The Changing Of The Seasons
Changing of the Seasons Every season changes the look of the world differently. Some seasons make
the environment bloom while other seasons put the environment to rest for a period of time. Seasons
change from the blazing sun of summer, to the vivid colors of the fall, and then the freezing snow of
winter. Many people vary in which season they relish the most, but I enjoy three of the four seasons
Mother Nature has to offer. I savor the time during the summer, fall, and winter that I get to spend
with family and friends. Nothing compares to the scorching heat of summer, the chilling breeze of fall,
or sub zero temperatures of the winter. I m a huge fan of the summer, fall, and winter. Winter is the
most wonderful time of the year. The white snow covers the ground like white fluffy blanket. I stay
indoors in the warm heat and enjoy a nice cup of hot chocolate with family and friends. I look out the
window into the bright light made by the crystal white snow and the shining sun. I walk outside in the
frigid cold wrapped up in multiple layers of clothes to protect me from the harsh winter winds. The
town is at a silent stand still as snow covers all the roads. I pick up a handful of snow, and take a bite it
tastes like a flavorless sno cone. I walk a couple blocks to see dozens of little kids riding sleighs down
the icy slopes of Main Street. I make my way back home, but I could hear a loud screeching noise
almost as if someone was using a jackhammer. They were finally

The Work And Contribution Of Anna Freud
Women have played a very important role in the development of psychology, though they are not
recognized as major contributors. In this paper we are going to be focusing on the works and
contribution of Anna Freud. She is known for her construction of child psychoanalysis theory and her
interpretation of child psychology. Anna Freud (1895 1982) is famous as being involved in the
foundation of the child psychoanalytic movement. She was the youngest of Freud s children and the
only one to whose life was devoted to psychoanalysis. Her development of child psychoanalysis has
been greatly noted in the history of psychology. Anna Freud kept the basic ideas that her father
developed. However, her interest laid in the psyche and how it was constructed. She also took interest
in the where the ego stood in the structure of the psyche. She saw the ego as the seat of observation ; it
is from the ego that we can clearly see how the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Child analysis is also difficult because their symbolic activities are of a lower standard than adults.
Emotional difficulties are extensive in young children; the older children have great problem in
disguising their problems with the use of symbols. Thus, they express their feelings more direct as
they are closer to the surface in comparison to adults.
She also had a major impact in Freudian psychological research. She is responsible for the
standardization of records for children with diagnostic profiles, pushed for the development of
children from childhood to adolescence to be studied longitudinal, and encouraged the use of multiple
analysts when it comes to observations. Anna Freud also paved the way for natural experiments to be
used in the analysis of children who had similar disabilities (e.g. early traumas, blindness,

fossil fuel resources led the engineers to work out new combustion technologies to substantially
reduce harmful emission and to improve the overall efficiency of an IC Engine. Factors to be
considered while designing a new combustion process are higher compression ratio, lean
homogeneous air fuel mixture and complete combustion and instantaneous combustion, which leads to
Homogeneous Charge Compression Ignition (HCCI). HCCI is a clean and efficient combustion
process. In this paper an attempt is made to experimentally analyze the performance and emission
characteristics of HCCI compression process taking place in Premixed Charge Compression Ignition

Personal Characteristics Of My Personal Experience
Personal Characteristics
I am being open to the possibilities of what I can learn from this course, and I do not take it for
granted. At the moment I am feeling overwhelmed and out of place. That being said, and so much to
learn, I will follow the process flow. I place a lot of value on my past experience, and I consider that
experience to be one of my best strengths. That experience has given me the opportunity to
communicate with people from diverse cultures, lifestyles, nationalities, professionals, etc. I had a
love for talking, wanting to know what made people say, do, or behave in certain ways. Aside from the
experiences of communicating with others; I can relate to almost anyone on a genuine level, based on

I have used the verse of Scripture which says, Our days may come to seventy years, or eighty if our
strength endures; yet the best of them are but trouble and sorrow, for they quickly pass, and we fly
away (Psalms 90:10 NIV). This has everything to do with my time spent in this life, and nothing to do
with my eternal life, which I have in Jesus Christ. I do talk about this concept with others regardless of
their age, gender, nationality etc. In doing so, I am about the Father s business pointing them to Jesus
Christ. I am riveted on the future in the sense of eternity; in fact, I believe we are living in eternity. I
would like to be more in the here and now, because that is the world we live in today, and in order to
be an effective Christian counselor, I need to be in step with those I communicate with. Effective
therapists appreciate the influence of cultureIt s one thing to communicate with those of another
culture, however, understanding that culture is a different matter. That s something I would like to
develop a deeper understanding, as I believe it would enhance my ability to gain their trust. I have
come to the realization that my own cultural bias and preconceived notions are a cause for my
sweeping away the needs of others because of their values, lifestyles, or status. For example, I would

Argumentative Essay On Violent Video Games
Eli Hickman Miss Windish English II 26 October 2017 Violent Video Games Did you know that
seventy one percent of American teens play video games? Violent video games have a negative effect
because they teach children and teens that violence is the way to solve real life problems. The
following paragraphs will go into details on how they are bad, how they are good, their bad effects
and their good effects. Ninety eight percent of pediatricians say violent video games lead to
aggression. Eight out of ten researchers say violent video games lead to violent behavior. Studies show
children who play violent video games usually bully. Video games also reward the player for violence,
which teaches players that violence leads to rewards. Violent video games teach people to aim for the
more lethally vulnerable parts of the body like the head. The teenagers who attacked Columbine High
School which is located in Colorado, in 1999, were highly interested in violent video games. Another
attacker, who attacked a movie theatre in Aurora, Colorado, also had a high interest in violent video
games. Two Tennessee teens who shot at driving cars told police they got the idea from Grand Theft
Auto the highly violent video game. Video game makers have even advanced video games to give you
the fell of using real weapons, also called virtual reality. There is a professor at the University of
Missouri says that violent video games change behavior. First person shooter games help team players
how to hurt people because first person shooter games are usually more realistic. Sixty percent sixth to
eighth grade boys who play m rated video games have hit or beat up somebody. Many people who
have acted in mass shootings played violent video games. Violent video games have the tendency to
lower people s empathy and they also lower people s kindness. The APA says violent video games will
risk the factor for aggression. When violent video games reward a player for violence, kids think
violence is a good thing because they learn that you get rewards for committing violent acts. Sixty
seven percent of parents even agree that violent video games do lead to aggression. Between 1974 and

Essay on Thomas Herzog’s Private House in Regensburg
The Private House in Regensburg was built in 1979, which is Thomas Herzog s own home; one can
declare that he is the client and designer himself thus fulfilling his own needs or desires for the site.
The house demonstrates particular principles of energy efficiency, making it an early eco home. This
can be shown by the use of local materials, or taking advantage of the site for characteristics like
protection and aesthetics. Thomas Herzog was born in during World War 2 (1941), in Munich,
Germany. In 1965 he completed his diploma for architecture at the Technische Universität München
(University of München) and in 1973 he became Germany s youngest professor of architecture at the
age of thirty two. He is now known famously for his work ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The appearance loses the traditional house design and implements that it is an extruded form of a
triangle, linking to the hypotenuse of a triangle, reaching right down to the ground. It was designed to
appear as if the house is unwarranted (groundless) or the vice versa of it being forced up through the
ground. Energy principles were a relatively new idea in the 1970s where Herzog implemented the use
of the triangular shape of the house that is designed to collect free solar energy, which is later used to
heat the house. Herzog used environmental responsive architecture to integrate energy saving features
into the home. Also many architects would argue that the principles of creating a house like this uses
the principles of a Lean 2 shed , where it creates a D.I.Y aesthetics. Linking to the idea of
conservatories being around since Victorian times but was always an addition to the conventional
house . Herzog merged the two together by creating a two storey house with a conservatory attached,
except that both elements share the same roofline. Herzog makes regularity and flexibility another
architectural theme that is seen just as valuable to energy saving throughout the house. The plan of the
house is designed to distribute or allocate space proportionally, which is layered via an abstract grid.
Which can be combined in different ways either horizontally or vertically. The types of materials used

The Problem Of Housing In College Housing
Assignment 10 Housing is one of the most pressing issues facing communities today. It effects
practically all demographics, especially students, minorities, and low income workers. College towns
are often face the toughest challenges, with many students experiencing an extremely high cost of
living. Without a detailed housing plan drafted by community members there is no chance of
improving the conditions of housing or their related expenditures. So, what should be done about
housing in college towns? How can we hope to provide for a municipality s citizens while keeping
costs down? Can neighboring institutions and cities assist or should they give communities the
autonomy to improve themselves? The answers, I hope, will be found within the rest of this essay. The
problems that arise from housing are numerous. Housing takes up more than half of all real property
tax. Not only that, it s also the largest issue in a family s budget. The federal government spent $38
billion in preferential subsidies and $2 trillion on housing in total in the year 2006. Rigid zoning codes
prohibit certain types of housing from being built. This prevents some citizens from being provided
with homes that fit their budget and ads to the chronic problem of homelessness our communities face.
Too many houses can crowd neighborhoods and make transit difficult. They can also obstruct view
and, when foreclosed upon, lead to plummeting property values. Some solutions could be proposed to
remedy

Suicide In Edwidge Danticat s A Wall Of Fire Rising
Hope is salvation. It is the thing we seek in times of distress and hardship. But more often than not we
put our hope of a better future to be passed down to our next generation. Krik? Krak! By Edwidge
Danticat, is a collection of stories, which try their best to explain the tough challenges Haitian people
experience in Haiti and even outside of it. Because of these challenges and hardships, Danticat
portrays the idea of when people go through suffering , the hope of a better fate lies in the future
generation.
In A Wall of Fire Rising Guy foreshadows his feeling of suicide and his hope for Little Guy to move

The Oni throughout Pop Culture Literature and Art
The Oni throughout Pop Culture Literature and Art:
The similarity throughout all folk tales involving the oni is that they are villains of the humans. An
Oni is a yokai which is a strange and supernatural being from Japanese folklore. yo means attractive,
bewitching, and calamity. Kai means mystery and wonder. It can also be translated to be demon,
goblin, spirit, or monster. The folklore of japan is a collaboration of different traditions from the
isolated tribes that lived on Japan s isles who had different beliefs but could be alligned with the
others. The traditions changed form with the arrival of Shinto and Buddhism which brought Chinese
and Indian folklore into the mix. Today the yokai can be seen throughout most manga and anime even
video games and on clothing.
The japanese believe that the oni were created from peoples fear of natural phenomenon such as
earthquakes and storms including thunder and lightning. Thunder and and lightning are usually
associated with the oni.
Oni have either one or several horns, they can have a third eye in the middle of their forehead, they
can have a repulsive smile that can spread from ear to ear showing their gnarled teeth, they can have

Police And False Confessions Case Study
Police Tactics and False Confessions
In recent years, there have been multiple high profile cases of people being exonerated, often by DNA
testing, after giving a false confession to a crime they did not commit. People who often fall into this
trap are juveniles or those with a diminished mental capacity (Redlich, 2009). DNA testing has helped
many innocent people that gave false confessions be free again. This trend brings up the question of
how were they able to give a false confession.
Using the example of the case of Damon Thibodaux, he was taken for questioning after a girl who
they were last seen with went missing. She was found strangled and naked (Leo, 2008). A homicide
officer took over the case, and Thibodaux was interrogated for several hours. Although Thibodaux
repeatedly said he knew nothing about the murder, the interrogation kept going, eventually the officer
was able to record a statement from Thibodaux pleading guilty of consensual and non consensual sex
with the victim, beating, and assassinating her. Thibodaux was condemned to death, and was to spend
fifteen years on death row and sixteen years in jail before DNA examination confirmed that he was not
guilty (Kassin, 2013). Thibodauxs exoneration proceeding concluded that fatigue and exhaustion from
the overnight search for the girl, the long interrogation, psychological vulnerability, and fear of the
death penalty led to the false confession by Thibodaux (Leo, 2008). This case is a great example of

Finding Truth And Finding Peace
This past week we read some very different articles in terms of what they were witnesses to. To me a
witness is someone who tells a story in hopes of finding truth and finding peace. A witness mean
someone who is willing to listen to people tell theirs stories and continue to tell those stories when
other people are no longer able to. While visiting the Africa Burial Grounds going through the
different exhibits, I came across a quote that I believe describes in perfect detail what a witness is. I m
for truth no matter who tells it, I m for justice no matter who it is for or against. I m a human being
first and foremost, and as such I m for whoever and whatever benefits humanity (Malcolm X). I
believe that a witness s job is to tell the truth regardless of whom that truth will affect. We as people
have the obligation to other human beings to be just and tell their stories, and fight for them when they
are not able to. While visit the African Burial Grounds I considered my self to be witness what these
people went through. Throughout the museum there were different stories that depicted tremendous
suffering. There was a particular picture that stood out to me and it was of when African Americans
were taken from Africa to be transported to the United States. The picture showed African Americans
being thrown over board because they were dead, sick, or about to die. In that instance I considered
my self a witness because learning about the slave trade those details were

Eating Disorders Research Paper
Eating Disorders Capstone Paper
Eating Disorders: disorders characterized by abnormal eating habits (ex: anorexia nervosa and
bulimia). Anorexia is an emotional disorder characterized by an obsessive desire to lose weight by
refusing to eat (cnn.com). Bulimia is an eating disorder in which a lot of food is consumed in a short
amount of time, and is often followed by feelings of guilt or shame. This leads to those people to
throw up the food. Today, so many girls believe that they need to be perfect so that they fit into
society. This is wrong. Perfect is not real. Sure, some models seem like they are perfect and happy, but
the truth is they aren t. Sometimes, they starve themselves and some have even died because of this.

As stated in the article What are Eating Disorders? by the NEDA (National Eating Disorders
Association), About 20 million women and 10 million men in America will experience some type of
eating disorder at some point in their lives. This means that eating disorders affect women more, but it
affects men as well. Anorexia and Bulimia have been affecting women for generations, but recently it
has blown up. The main reason for this is social media and magazines. Social media shows people
models that are supposedly perfect, and then the women that see this then want to look just like them.
This causes women to starve themselves, purge, etc. Women and teens still do this even though they
know it hurts them. They may be addicted to doing it, and may not be able to stop themselves. People

The prime minister can determine the ministers in each ministry (Johnson, 2004). The head of
government has certain degree of authority and freedom to delegate to its ministers, and it can lead the
government to more stable political situation because fusion of power between the ministries and
prime minister is achieved. Prime ministers can also nominate members of the cabinet but their
functions are not just limited to advisory and consultative. The members must decide collectively
broad matters of policy, involving foreign affairs, finance, and other issues of concern to the entire
government (Hitchner, 1970). The collective body of cabinets reduces the role of prime minister and
his executive power. The presidential government has distinctive characteristics compared to
parliamentary system. According to Hargrove, presidential government can be defined as by nature,
single person office, chosen for a fixed term by a uniquely national constituency, sharing virtually all
the powers of the federal government with an equally distinct and independent congress (Hargrove,
1984). The president, who is directly elected by public, is head of the government and also head of the
state. It appears that the president has full support from public and also symbolizes the national
representative and unifying figure. The separation of power and check and balance are main features
in the presidential form of government. According to Abueva, legislative power is vested in

The Rhetoric Of Hitler s Battle Summary
Burkes work, The Rhetoric of Hitlers Battle explains the use of unification devices and scapegoating
to facilitate identification. First off, Scapegoating is identified as creating blame of issues onto a
specific person or persons. This is identified through blame of Jewish people and other minorities for
Germanys financial and social problems. Creating a common enemy through scapegoating brings the
opportunity to utilize unification devices to create more division. Unification devices include inborn
dignity, projection devices, commercial use and symbolic rebirth. Inborn dignity as a unification
device terms that there is a standard set for humans, a standard of which identifies one group of people

Moral judgment also overcomes a persons perception on topics and situations. Moral judgment can
extend further than just to that of living beings, but also to objects. For rhetoricians to consider
discourse as an object would be furthering rhetoric to more human dimensions, which would create a
better understanding to a new side of rhetoric in regards to linguistics and understanding a new lens of
the audience. Blacks argument about ideology, regarding the communism of cancer metaphor as an
idiomatic token of ideology explains how the ideologies that we hold in connection of history and
beliefs create a function of acceptance from people who hold the same beliefs. Ideology in Blacks

Two Arguments On The Theory Of Evolution
Evolutionism is supported by most people. There are two arguments on the theory of evolution. The
first argument is that evolution is caused by natural selection, such as the birds of the Galapagos
Islands. Because of different food made of different mouth type of bird, after the environment
changed, the food source changed, causing the birds died, this is the result of natural selection.
The second argument is that all creatures are genetically related. In the anatomy, although whales
appearance just like fish, but the other part is more similar with the mammals, and in the early
embryonic development process also like mammals,
Genetics also found that the closest DNA sequence of whale was hippopotamus, probably they had a

The book showed readers how the color line in college football, specifically in southern football,
reflected the traditions and beliefs of southern society. The reader gets a glance into the complete
segregation of college sports to the complete integration of all college sports. In the beginning, African
American students could not play sports on all white teams and they could not go to the same schools

walk through the history of the integration of college sports with Martin to eventually see full
integration. At the beginning of the monograph,

Intelligent Traffic Surveillance System Essay
Abstract Due to the traffic accidents over the last few years; the development of surveillance systems
with multifunctional techniques has received increasing attention. The use of the smart camera is one
solution to solve the traffic problems, Smart cameras are cameras that can perform tasks far beyond
simply taking photos and recording videos. Intelligent Traffic Surveillance System (ITSS) is used to
monitor the roads in preventing accidents at the same time finding what causes the accidents. This is
done by implementing some image vision protocols as that of Gaussian and Canny. This paper will
discuss about the camera video surveillance capabilities of tracking across different and varied road
environments including detection of moving ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thus, vehicles detection in cluttered environment is an open problem. The major difficulties lie in:
Vehicles are a non rigid object. In other words, the shape and size of vehicles vary greatly, and
therefore the models of vehicles are much more complex than that of others objects.
In the case of the clutter background. It does not matter if we are analyzing images from a typical city
or from a country traffic environment or highways; the background formed by trees, wire poles, and
billboards is much cluttered. Most of these backgrounds can be taken for vehicles, due to their similar
shapes.
Illumination and weather conditions vary greatly. The on vehicle vision systems must be able to deal
with the different illumination conditions [2].
One of the goals is to develop a system that can be used to Monitor the highways and prevent
accidents by implementing an algorithm program in OpenCV (Intel® open source computer vision
library), Real time tracking objects will be achieved by using a smart camera which captures the
frames and sends the image signals to the main server
The system will be a replacement of human for triggering alarms which if something dangerous has
happened or potential horrific scenario (potential accidents) is about to happen. In general this project
consists of a smart camera system interconnected with wireless technology for traffic surveillance

While the kids were busy playing games on their new Xbox 360, I walked to the back of the cabin to
order the solitary book on Dylan s reading list that I didn t own. After Lynn moved out I realized there
was no need for the queen size bed and decided to downsize to a twin size murphy bed. I called
Normanskill Self Storage on Delaware Avenue in Albany. They sent a two man moving crew with a
van to break the bed down and remove it from the cabin. They delivered the bed and a few other
boxed items to their storehouse where I had rented a 200 foot square climate control unit. I thought

This small one person operation has a storefront facade shaped in the likeness of a barn. I know if I
stepped into the front door of this establishment the boys wouldn t be able to pry me away for at least

In short, everything you could ever want in terms of stock could be found at the Book Barn.
Sometimes you have to dig and pick through large boxes and bins to find something you are interested
in purchasing, but for the most part the shelves are cataloged in library style and easy to search. The
prices are not the best I ve ever seen but they are reasonable. The owner, Caleb Spencer, is picky in
terms of the condition of the books he acquires for resale because they are in tip top shape. It s hard to
say at this point how often the stock turns over, but I have barely made a dent in browsing through the
thousands of volumes. Caleb informs me he doesn t acquire books from individuals and has
accumulated his stock in part by buying out 17 other stores over the years. Since I have spent
hundreds of dollars there over the past 15 years, Caleb would order any book for me for the lowest
cost possible. But saving time at this point overrides saving money.

The Globalization Of Globalization
Based on Sparke s textbook, Globalization can be defined as the extension, acceleration, and
intensification of consequential worldwide global interconnections. This is what he refers to as little g
globalization. These global interconnections reveal the ties and tensions of globalization. There is also
big G globalization which is what Sparke calls using globalization as a buzzword in a political
context. A big part of globalization is commodities and commodity chains. A commodity can be
simply defined as anything that is bought or sold while a commodity chain is the production process
that produces these commodities. Understanding commodities and commodity chains is important to
be able to understand globalization. One example of how commodities demonstrate globalization is
outsourcing and offshoring. By doing this, companies bring their companies overseas which means
that they are interconnected with other parts of the world. Understanding commodity chains can also
allow you to understand the ties and tensions. I decided to focus on the apparel industry and the
commodity of a piece of clothing. This commodity shows some of the tensions related to labor, like
constantly searching for the cheapest labor, and tensions related to the environment, like pollution
from the clothing industry. A piece of clothing also shows ties through, for instance, in which
countries clothes are produced and to which countries they are being exported to. The article Indian

Sexual Orientation Within America s Most Controversial...
Sexual orientation can be considered as one of America s most controversial topics. Although the
rationale and choice differs from person to person, and is considered to be a private matter of personal
preference, many people have experienced negative backlash and harsh criticism due to their
individual likings. In general, sexual orientation is defined as: a person s sexual identity in relation to
the gender to which they are attracted; the fact of being heterosexual, homosexual, or bisexual. While
the definition seems to be straightforward and concise, the subject of sexual orientation encompasses
much more than just the intensity of emotional and erotic attraction and response to members of the
opposite sex, the same sex, or both ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A person s sexual orientation is distinct from a person s gender identity and expression, but without
gender identity and expression, sexual orientation would be hard to distinguish. The term gender
identity, distinct from the term sexual orientation, refers to a person s innate, deeply felt psychological
identification as a man, woman or some other gender, which may or may not correspond to the sex
assigned to them at birth (e.g., the sex listed on their birth certificate). For example take a child who
may be born a hermaphrodite or what is commonly known as an intersex. When birthed this child
would have either male and female sex organs or sexual characteristics. Unlike those who are
heterosexual, homosexual, or even bisexual, an intersexual in my opinion would have the most
difficult time finding their sexual orientation, due to the fact at times they are given a gender identity
based on their genital formation. When in the womb intersex infants can be spotted. The choice is up
to the parent s then if they would like to assign gender to the infant. Some of the following diagnoses
at times seem to be the logical reasons behind assigning gender to the infant. Congenital Adrenal
Hyperplasia (CAH) is an inherited condition that technically can be found at birth and it does not
allow the body to make enough cortisol. When the cells in the body try to make cortisol they began to

Irish Nationalists and Ulster Unionists
Irish Nationalists and Ulster Unionists
The question of the division of Ireland between the predominantly Protestant North and the Catholic
South is a long standing, deep seated and highly complex issue which still continues to be
controversial to this day. There have been many attempts to resolve the problems in order to restore
peace to this small island, however none have been found. The Irish Nationalists and the Ulster
Unionists both had powerful reasons for fighting their own cause, and both sides claimed small
victories towards their ultimate goal over the years but 1914 was a year when the balance could have
been tipped one way or the other if it had not been for the advent of World War I. ... Show more

This injustice sparked off riots in Ireland and in an attempt to restore peace, Robert Peel passed the
Catholic Emancipation act in 1829 even though he personally believed in Protestant supremacy. O
Connell was consequently given his seat in the House of Commons. This was seen as a victory by the
Irish Nationalists, as they now had a voice in parliament, and saw it as a significant step towards
achieving Home Rule, but the Protestants were troubled by this event and feared that the privileges
they had enjoyed by being loyal to Britain would be undermined by Catholic equality.
O Connell now turned his full attention to the Abolition of the Act of Union, which had always been
his primary goal. A speech he made in 1809 illustrates how passionately he felt about it.
We have been robbed of our birthrights, our independence. England that ought to have been a sister
and a friend whom we had loved, and fought and bled for stole upon us like a thief in the night and
robbed us of the precious gem of our liberty…..The real cause of the Union is the religious
dissensions which the enemies of Ireland have created, separating us into wretched sections…

A Report On The Russian Hospitality Sector
Growth of tourism in Russia has been rapid, fuelled by the nation s rich history and diverse geography
along with a strong economy. Russia has faced a growth in both outbound and inbound tourism in the
last decade.
According to Hilton Worldwide (2012) Russia is an upcoming important market with the maximum
number of potential hotel openings planned than anywhere else in Europe. Accounting the vast hotel
market capacity of the Russian territory and its rapid development of the leisure and business travel
sector, the need to scrutinize its travel and accommodation market trends and to identify changes in
strategic developments of international hotel brands is of immense interest. This essay will analyse the
developments in the Russian hospitality sector, focussing on international hotel chains and shedding
light on the minority stake of local brands.
The hospitality and tourism environment of Russia has seen a considerable change since the 2000 s,
with a growing need and to fulfil the void of role of the service sector in the country. Recently, the
interdependent sectors of hospitality, leisure, travel and tourism have been boosted through
government programs and investments including Special Economic Zones (SEZ) in tourism and
recreation (Sheresheva 2012).

Compare The Visions Of Cecil John Rhodes And Olive Schreiner
Compare and Contrast the differing visions articulated around 1895 for South Africa s future by Cecil
John Rhodes and Olive Schreiner.
The vision for South Africa during the 1890 s saw for various issues that needed to be dealt with. The
visions of Cecil John Rhodes and Olive Schreiner represent conflicting views about the nature of the
relationship between power and racial notions. Rhodes a British born capitalist, with a vision to
defend and extend the British Empire and Olive Schreiner, a novelist, who envisioned a party that has
a great form of leadership without any racial prejudice and has no attributes of self seeking

This is clear in that his original vision for South Africa, was one that implied and sought for nothing
less than the defence and extension of the British Empire . This vision he had, had included various
genius in thought for the growth of South Africa as well as through the extension of the British
Empire, however through notions of policy, it had become clear that there were introductions and
representations of various factors pertaining towards racial discrimination, corruption as well as
others. These representations through policies such as The Glen Grey Act of 1894 which denied a vote
to Africans from that district and, additionally, restricted the size of African owned freeholds,
restricted inheritance rights, and imposed a head tax all measures devised to ensure labour migration ,
are a depiction of how Rhodes had been accustomed to ruling through the means of oppressing the

on achieving the expansion of the British Empire, the control of white supremacy as well as keeping
control of South Africa s wealth and minerals

Individuality And Uniqueness In Emerson s Self Reliance By...
1. In the essay Self Reliance, Ralph Waldo Emerson addressed the topic of originality and uniqueness
to depict the idea that these are the qualities that make people great. Emerson stated that We but half
express ourselves, and are ashamed of that divine idea which each of us represent in order to argue
that each person has a uniqueness because their environments is unique (Emerson 2). The quote infers
that every person in society has an ability to possess a unique idea. Every person has a unique idea,
which means that every person can become a free thinker. Those who do not act on their thoughts and
ideas due to societal rules lose the chance to become unique. Emerson believed that Society is a wave.
The wave moves onward, but the water of which it is composed does not , meaning something sparks
society to do something, everyone starts doing it but why they do it is lost over time (Emerson 20).
The wave of society represents the masses and the water that makes up the wave are the individuals in
society. Every person has an ability to possess a divine thought but cannot ferment it because of
societal restraints (the wave). Due to the influence of society, one lacks the strength to act on their
original thought and follows the crowd. Martin Luther acted on his original thought but thousands of
people adopted his thoughts, even though the reasons for his regional thought are no longer present.
Instead of creating and following their own ideas, they adopted Luther s instead. In society, many
people follow and imitate well established beliefs, thus leading to the lack of divine thought. In the
reading, Emerson came to a conclusion that all people have divine thoughts but cannot act on them
because of societal influences.
2. In the reading titled Self Reliance, Ralph Waldo Emerson addressed the topic of truth and honesty.
According to Emerson, one who went Upright and vital, and speak the rude truth is unique (Emerson
4). Emerson followed this quote stating that one shall Speak what you think now in hard words, and
tomorrow speak what tomorrow thinks...though it contradicts everything (Emerson 7). What Emerson
views as a man simply stating his thoughts and ideas can be seen in society as a contradiction in

How El Niño Affects The Real World
I think that the article was very interesting. El Niño effects many things. El Niño can affect the
weather, the amount of rain a place gets now or later, and the temperature. I would think that dropping
the instruments into the winds would be very dangerous. When traveling to make the long journey,
why would they need 11 people to go along? If they go along, do those people get paid or is this a free
ride? It seems more effective if less people went. Maybe then, they could do more experiments. The
model that Dr. Barnson was talking about seemed really neat. Instead of having just statistical models,
they have dynamical models that actually show how the real world is. Those models do a better job at
predicting an El Niño than statistical models.

For centuries, production and absorption of carbon dioxide was in balance with the ecosystem
however, in the last century, human activity has caused detrimental effects to the earth s atmosphere
due to the consequential changes in earth s natural feedback mechanism. This problem ultimately
originated from the industrial revolution in the 18th century where as a result caused the constant
production and burning of fossil fuels which has presently caused the warming of earth s surface. This
is ultimately a result of by the greenhouse effect ...which is caused by the interaction between earth s
atmosphere and incoming radiation from the sun. Greenhouse gases primarily consist of carbon
dioxide however others such as ...water vapour, methane, and nitrous oxide... are also associated to the
greenhouse effect. Scientifically, solar radiation passes through the atmosphere to the surface of earth,
where it is absorbed and then radiated upward as heat is the result of the high emission of greenhouse
gases. The most substantial and common way of emission is through the burning of fossil fuels in cars,
factories and electricity production. Therefore, human activities over the past century has ultimately
caused the more recent problem of the effects global warming is posing to our ecosystem and planet.
Currently, statistics have proven global warming to be a global real crisis that requires an immediate

  • 2. Reflective Essay On Critical Thinking Questioning and challenging my assumptions and attitudes about critical thinking is a new process for me, but I do appreciate that to develop and enhance my assumptions and other mindsets it is an important undertaking. Looking at what we hold to be true is an endeavor well trenched into us as we evolved. The real value of critical thinking is that it s been at the root of all human progress (Rabinowitz, 2015). Being challenged on my thinking is difficult, but once I got through the difficulty I realized it was for my betterment as a student and as a teacher. My prior experience as an undergraduate in early childhood education with Bloom s focused mainly on the cognitive domain and thus I cannot recall the affective or psychomotor domains being addressed. However, as I began to understand that the committee identified three domains of educational activities or learning (Bloom, 1956 as cited by Clark, 2015), I realized that I did have assumptions and that they were being challenged. First of all, I did assume that Bloom s focus on cognitive development devalues the importance of other domains and secondly that Bloom s Taxonomy is only used by educators in K 12 and college. Interestingly, both have since been challenged and changed through my readings as it is important to note that the most common usage of Bloom s Taxonomy focuses on cognitive learning skills rather than psychomotor or affective skills, two domains that are crucial to the success of health ... • 3. Changing The Changing Of The Seasons Changing of the Seasons Every season changes the look of the world differently. Some seasons make the environment bloom while other seasons put the environment to rest for a period of time. Seasons change from the blazing sun of summer, to the vivid colors of the fall, and then the freezing snow of winter. Many people vary in which season they relish the most, but I enjoy three of the four seasons Mother Nature has to offer. I savor the time during the summer, fall, and winter that I get to spend with family and friends. Nothing compares to the scorching heat of summer, the chilling breeze of fall, or sub zero temperatures of the winter. I m a huge fan of the summer, fall, and winter. Winter is the most wonderful time of the year. The white snow covers the ground like white fluffy blanket. I stay indoors in the warm heat and enjoy a nice cup of hot chocolate with family and friends. I look out the window into the bright light made by the crystal white snow and the shining sun. I walk outside in the frigid cold wrapped up in multiple layers of clothes to protect me from the harsh winter winds. The town is at a silent stand still as snow covers all the roads. I pick up a handful of snow, and take a bite it tastes like a flavorless sno cone. I walk a couple blocks to see dozens of little kids riding sleighs down the icy slopes of Main Street. I make my way back home, but I could hear a loud screeching noise almost as if someone was using a jackhammer. They were finally ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Work And Contribution Of Anna Freud Women have played a very important role in the development of psychology, though they are not recognized as major contributors. In this paper we are going to be focusing on the works and contribution of Anna Freud. She is known for her construction of child psychoanalysis theory and her interpretation of child psychology. Anna Freud (1895 1982) is famous as being involved in the foundation of the child psychoanalytic movement. She was the youngest of Freud s children and the only one to whose life was devoted to psychoanalysis. Her development of child psychoanalysis has been greatly noted in the history of psychology. Anna Freud kept the basic ideas that her father developed. However, her interest laid in the psyche and how it was constructed. She also took interest in the where the ego stood in the structure of the psyche. She saw the ego as the seat of observation ; it is from the ego that we can clearly see how the ... Emotional difficulties are extensive in young children; the older children have great problem in disguising their problems with the use of symbols. Thus, they express their feelings more direct as they are closer to the surface in comparison to adults. She also had a major impact in Freudian psychological research. She is responsible for the standardization of records for children with diagnostic profiles, pushed for the development of children from childhood to adolescence to be studied longitudinal, and encouraged the use of multiple analysts when it comes to observations. Anna Freud also paved the way for natural experiments to be used in the analysis of children who had similar disabilities (e.g. early traumas, blindness, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Factors to be considered while designing a new combustion process are higher compression ratio, lean homogeneous air fuel mixture and complete combustion and instantaneous combustion, which leads to Homogeneous Charge Compression Ignition (HCCI). HCCI is a clean and efficient combustion process. In this paper an attempt is made to experimentally analyze the performance and emission characteristics of HCCI compression process taking place in Premixed Charge Compression Ignition (PCCI) mode assisted with Pilot Injection as combustion initiator. This has everything to do with my time spent in this life, and nothing to do with my eternal life, which I have in Jesus Christ. I do talk about this concept with others regardless of their age, gender, nationality etc. In doing so, I am about the Father s business pointing them to Jesus Christ. I am riveted on the future in the sense of eternity; in fact, I believe we are living in eternity. Essay on Thomas Herzog’s Private House in Regensburg The Private House in Regensburg was built in 1979, which is Thomas Herzog s own home; one can declare that he is the client and designer himself thus fulfilling his own needs or desires for the site. The house demonstrates particular principles of energy efficiency, making it an early eco home. This can be shown by the use of local materials, or taking advantage of the site for characteristics like protection and aesthetics. Thomas Herzog was born in during World War 2 (1941), in Munich, Germany. In 1965 he completed his diploma for architecture at the Technische Universität München (University of München) and in 1973 he became Germany s youngest professor of architecture at the age of thirty two. It was designed to appear as if the house is unwarranted (groundless) or the vice versa of it being forced up through the ground. Energy principles were a relatively new idea in the 1970s where Herzog implemented the use of the triangular shape of the house that is designed to collect free solar energy, which is later used to heat the house. Herzog used environmental responsive architecture to integrate energy saving features into the home. Also many architects would argue that the principles of creating a house like this uses the principles of a Lean 2 shed , where it creates a D.I.Y aesthetics. Linking to the idea of conservatories being around since Victorian times but was always an addition to the conventional house . Herzog merged the two together by creating a two storey house with a conservatory attached, except that both elements share the same roofline. Herzog makes regularity and flexibility another architectural theme that is seen just as valuable to energy saving throughout the house. • 10. The Problem Of Housing In College Housing Assignment 10 Housing is one of the most pressing issues facing communities today. It effects practically all demographics, especially students, minorities, and low income workers. College towns are often face the toughest challenges, with many students experiencing an extremely high cost of living. Without a detailed housing plan drafted by community members there is no chance of improving the conditions of housing or their related expenditures. So, what should be done about housing in college towns? How can we hope to provide for a municipality s citizens while keeping costs down? Can neighboring institutions and cities assist or should they give communities the autonomy to improve themselves? The answers, I hope, will be found within the rest of this essay. The problems that arise from housing are numerous. Housing takes up more than half of all real property tax. Not only that, it s also the largest issue in a family s budget. The federal government spent $38 billion in preferential subsidies and $2 trillion on housing in total in the year 2006. Rigid zoning codes prohibit certain types of housing from being built. This prevents some citizens from being provided with homes that fit their budget and ads to the chronic problem of homelessness our communities face. Too many houses can crowd neighborhoods and make transit difficult. They can also obstruct view and, when foreclosed upon, lead to plummeting property values. Some solutions could be proposed to remedy ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

But more often than not we put our hope of a better future to be passed down to our next generation. Krik? Krak! By Edwidge Danticat, is a collection of stories, which try their best to explain the tough challenges Haitian people experience in Haiti and even outside of it. Because of these challenges and hardships, Danticat portrays the idea of when people go through suffering , the hope of a better fate lies in the future generation. In A Wall of Fire Rising Guy foreshadows his feeling of suicide and his hope for Little Guy to move on with Lili. Even though Guy dies, his legacy and hope of finding a better home, is embedded within his son. • 13. Police And False Confessions Case Study Police Tactics and False Confessions In recent years, there have been multiple high profile cases of people being exonerated, often by DNA testing, after giving a false confession to a crime they did not commit. People who often fall into this trap are juveniles or those with a diminished mental capacity (Redlich, 2009). DNA testing has helped many innocent people that gave false confessions be free again. This trend brings up the question of how were they able to give a false confession. Using the example of the case of Damon Thibodaux, he was taken for questioning after a girl who they were last seen with went missing. She was found strangled and naked (Leo, 2008). A homicide officer took over the case, and Thibodaux was interrogated for several hours. Although Thibodaux repeatedly said he knew nothing about the murder, the interrogation kept going, eventually the officer was able to record a statement from Thibodaux pleading guilty of consensual and non consensual sex with the victim, beating, and assassinating her. Thibodaux was condemned to death, and was to spend fifteen years on death row and sixteen years in jail before DNA examination confirmed that he was not guilty (Kassin, 2013). Thibodauxs exoneration proceeding concluded that fatigue and exhaustion from the overnight search for the girl, the long interrogation, psychological vulnerability, and fear of the death penalty led to the false confession by Thibodaux (Leo, 2008). • 17. Finding Truth And Finding Peace This past week we read some very different articles in terms of what they were witnesses to. To me a witness is someone who tells a story in hopes of finding truth and finding peace. A witness mean someone who is willing to listen to people tell theirs stories and continue to tell those stories when other people are no longer able to. While visiting the Africa Burial Grounds going through the different exhibits, I came across a quote that I believe describes in perfect detail what a witness is. I m for truth no matter who tells it, I m for justice no matter who it is for or against. I m a human being first and foremost, and as such I m for whoever and whatever benefits humanity (Malcolm X). I believe that a witness s job is to tell the truth regardless of whom that truth will affect. We as people have the obligation to other human beings to be just and tell their stories, and fight for them when they are not able to. While visit the African Burial Grounds I considered my self to be witness what these people went through. Throughout the museum there were different stories that depicted tremendous suffering. There was a particular picture that stood out to me and it was of when African Americans were taken from Africa to be transported to the United States. The picture showed African Americans being thrown over board because they were dead, sick, or about to die. In that instance I considered my self a witness because learning about the slave trade those details were ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Emerson stated that We but half express ourselves, and are ashamed of that divine idea which each of us represent in order to argue that each person has a uniqueness because their environments is unique (Emerson 2). The quote infers that every person in society has an ability to possess a unique idea. Every person has a unique idea, which means that every person can become a free thinker. Those who do not act on their thoughts and ideas due to societal rules lose the chance to become unique. Emerson believed that Society is a wave. The wave moves onward, but the water of which it is composed does not , meaning something sparks society to do something, everyone starts doing it but why they do it is lost over time (Emerson 20). The wave of society represents the masses and the water that makes up the wave are the individuals in society. Every person has an ability to possess a divine thought but cannot ferment it because of societal restraints (the wave). Due to the influence of society, one lacks the strength to act on their original thought and follows the crowd. Martin Luther acted on his original thought but thousands of people adopted his thoughts, even though the reasons for his regional thought are no longer present. Instead of creating and following their own ideas, they adopted Luther s instead. In society, many people follow and imitate well established beliefs, thus leading to the lack of divine thought. In the reading, Emerson came to a conclusion that all people have divine thoughts but cannot act on them because of societal influences. 2. In the reading titled Self Reliance, Ralph Waldo Emerson addressed the topic of truth and honesty. According to Emerson, one who went Upright and vital, and speak the rude truth is unique (Emerson 4). Emerson followed this quote stating that one shall Speak what you think now in hard words, and tomorrow speak what tomorrow thinks...though it contradicts everything (Emerson 7). What Emerson views as a man simply stating his thoughts and ideas can be seen in society as a contradiction in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. How El Niño Affects The Real World I think that the article was very interesting. El Niño effects many things. El Niño can affect the weather, the amount of rain a place gets now or later, and the temperature. I would think that dropping the instruments into the winds would be very dangerous. When traveling to make the long journey, why would they need 11 people to go along? If they go along, do those people get paid or is this a free ride? It seems more effective if less people went. Maybe then, they could do more experiments. The model that Dr. Barnson was talking about seemed really neat. Instead of having just statistical models, they have dynamical models that actually show how the real world is. Those models do a better job at predicting an El Niño than statistical models. ... • 38. Thurston High School Shooting Research Paper The Thurston High School shooting took place on May 21, 1998 by Kipland Kinkel at the age of 15. He killed many during the shooting, not knowing if what he did was clearly thought out. He grew up in a family that seemed to be very happy, but that was not how he was feeling inside when all he felt was sadness. He received weapons as a gift and hung around with people that had a bad influence on him. Even though he had a depressive disorder and knowing that his head wasn t working right, it was not a good enough excuse for the crime that he committed. Kipland Kinkel killed his father because his father was disappointed from finding out he had a fully loaded, stolen gun in his locker and got into serious trouble because of it. However, his mother ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. Environmental Exploring And The Environmental Effects Of... For centuries, production and absorption of carbon dioxide was in balance with the ecosystem however, in the last century, human activity has caused detrimental effects to the earth s atmosphere due to the consequential changes in earth s natural feedback mechanism. This problem ultimately originated from the industrial revolution in the 18th century where as a result caused the constant production and burning of fossil fuels which has presently caused the warming of earth s surface. This is ultimately a result of by the greenhouse effect ...which is caused by the interaction between earth s atmosphere and incoming radiation from the sun. Greenhouse gases primarily consist of carbon dioxide however others such as ...water vapour, methane, and nitrous oxide... are also associated to the greenhouse effect. Scientifically, solar radiation passes through the atmosphere to the surface of earth, where it is absorbed and then radiated upward as heat is the result of the high emission of greenhouse gases. The most substantial and common way of emission is through the burning of fossil fuels in cars, factories and electricity production. Therefore, human activities over the past century has ultimately caused the more recent problem of the effects global warming is posing to our ecosystem and planet. Currently, statistics have proven global warming to be a global real crisis that requires an immediate solution. Through the scientific aid in earth orbiting satellites, it has allowed ...
